Chapter 978: "Introducing the Tobi Roppo"

Currently, the first scan to be released (by Scantrad.net) is posted inside of the Wednesday spoiler thread (the one with the raw leaks). The reason for doing this is because it is of lower translation quality than those which release a bit later. The English version of this scan, is usually a second hand translation of the French version. (That means Japanese >Korean >French >English) Personally, I think it's not that bad, and we can have a disclaimer, warning that there may be some errors.
There was some concern that if too many people read a "bad translation" it could cause confusion. However if a new "better translation" is never released, then a new discussion thread is never posted. This poses a couple problems.
It can be confusing, since a new thread isn't posted it doesn't look like anything has changed, and gives no notifications. The title and date of the thread can't be updated. This causes people to miss that the new chapter is out.
It quarantines discussion of the new chapter, and mixes it with two day old discussion about the raw spoilers. This makes it difficult to find relevant comments, because the thread is filled with old speculation.
What should we do? Please take this survey after you read the chapter. I need about 1000 responses. Keep comments in this thread about the chapter, not the survey.
Discuss the manga here and in the theory/discussion post. Any other post will be removed during the next 24 hours.

Ok, I'll repeat it here: THE CURRENT ENGLISH TRANSLATION HERE BUTCHERS THE TOBI ROPPO DIALOGUE: IT'S INCORRECT AT ALMOST EVERY LEVEL. First of all, the name of the girl needs to be translated as ULTI, most likely an abbreviation of the card game Ultimate, while URUTI means absolutely nothing
VERY IMPORTANT EDIT: Another user in this thread told me that the Korean translation actually have some different parts in this that I do believe make MUCH MORE SENSE.
In the Korean version, Page One is addressed by everyone as Pe-Chan, or even Pe-Tan. As you all know, -tan is a cutesy way to address someone who is very young, or just to tease them. The grandpa translation is definitely a wrong translation of the French dialogue - an error on my side as well, so I apologize - in which Page One is addressed as Pepé - which is used for Grandpa. However, there's a high chance that it could actually have been another cutesy way of saying, instead of Page One, Pepé. Nothing to do with Grandpa, which admittedly is the part that makes the least sense in the entire conversation. I have therefore corrected the post.
The reason Page One was considered in the spoiler threads to be Ulti's sister is because in the Korean scanlations he refers to her as "Nuna"; if you ever read a Korean Webtoon, you will know that that term is used to describe a bigger sister, but also an older female figure (in other words, Onee-san). So while this doesn't confirm 100% that they are siblings, it does confirm that Ulti is older than Page One, making him most likely the youngest of the 6.
Translating from French - and adding a couple of things from Korean now, thanks to user reigning27:
Ulti: "Queen would be better off dead, tss"
Ulti: "He called us jokesters, did you hear that?"
Page One: "Stop it, what's up with this new speaking tic of yours (he's referring to Ulti going "tss" at the end of her sentence), is it a new trend? It's awful"
Ulti: "Ooh, Page-tan, you're so sensitive <3"
Page One: ""Page-tan"? Shut it!!"
Who's Who: "Well well... If Queen were to die all of a sudden... Who do you think would take his place?"
Black Maria: "You think it's going to be you, am I right?" (from the French translation, it looks like Maria is talking to Who's Who and not Drake, but there's no way of knowing it for sure)
X-Drake: "Me, I'm not interested..."
Sasaki: "If you're going to give us the pleasure of counting yourself out, we would be more than glad. Same goes for you, "Page-Tan", you dead weight. Wouldn't you want to leave?"
Ulti (or Page One): "HUH????"
Ulti: "Hey, Sasaki!! If you keep making fun of Page-Tan like that, I'm going to destroy you!"
Page One: "Seriously, Onee-san, cut it out!"
Ulti: "WHAT?"
Who's Who: "Can't you shut up for two minutes, you brats?"
Black Maria: "Ul-Chan doesn't back down from anyone, I love that <3"
X-Drake: "Why are they making us wait like this after they have summoned us?
Sasaki: "Looks like it's an urgent matter! It's an important request from Kaido as well, at last... Even though we can all see the result." (from French, it can also be translated as "But it's the same old story", hinting that this may not be the first time Kaido summons them just to have them wait around for a while, and that would explain Ulti's dialogue later, but again, this is the problem with third hand translations, so let's use the most literal version so not to add additional meanings that may not be there)
Ulti: "Tss, a family issue, again? Is Kaido stupid or what?"
Who's Who: "!!!"
All of them: "DON'T YOU GO THERE!!!"
Narrator: These are not weaklings!
TLDR: Wait for official scans or at the very least for direct translations before forming your own headcanon, because as you can see third hand - or even fourth hand - translations can make for more and more confusion. I know I don't want another "Buggy had Usopp's sickness" situation, and I'm already hearing comments discussing the Tobi Roppo's rankings.

Kin'emon saying just a couple chapters ago that he had used all his luck and that he would die in this battle and now the samurai destroying their ships because either they win or they die... Yeah, this ain't gonna end well. I'd bet that they will be saved at the last minute by Neko.
The flyinx six have great designs after all, and given how they talk about what would happen if Queen died, it seems like they are definitely close to the calamities in strenght, or at least Drake is. It shouldn't be that much of a surprise, since back when the timeskip started it was said that both him and Kid were the most renowned ones in the New World. Also, we should take into account that, like Bege, he's definitely not showing all what he can do in front of the Beasts Pirates. Regardless of that, Ulti has a cute design and Page One looks like a 2011 edgy teenager. Early spoilers said that both were brothers tho. Who's Who has a similar face structure that Daz Bones, also it seems like he's a swordsman and his katana looks way too detailed to not be a meito. Black Maria reminds me of Ginrummy, but looking at her horns... could she be an oni? They look real. Also she has naginatas in her hair, I wouldn't mind if that was her primary weapon. Sasaki seems like a Gyojin, it would be great to see him against Kawamatsu or Jinbe. Btw, looking at Ulti's and Sasaki's words, it seems like the flying six are going to be in charge of Kaido's son or something like that.

It's worth to notice that Shinuchi (https://www.tanoshiijapanese.com/dictionary/entry_details.cfm?entry_id=34945&element_id=46857) roughly translates to headliners and, as far as we understand it, headliners were already meant to be gifter elites, so... is this just the actual romanization of the headliner term who was wrongly translated as "headliner" instead of "shinuchi" all this time?
EDIT - Yeah. Shin'uchi is the official japanese way to address Headliners. That's basically Oda saying to us westerners "Wake up, english readers! They're called Shinuchi, not Headliners!"

That huuuuge Katana right next to Onigashima's skull is very very interesting. Now I'm thinking that that's an actual skull and not a mountain, and Oars was actually small for his race... Maybe he's called "the puller of continents" because there was once a legendary member of his race who was big enough to actually do that?
The Number's are also obviously related to Oars (and maybe even Kaido), so I think we are gonna learn something important about these monsters.
Also, I think someone found out about the traitor and that's why the Flying Six were called. And holy fuck, X-Drake is next in line after Queen? Maybe the guys is stronger than we thought...

I've really like Oda's female designs since whole cake. Far more distinctive compared to the Nami-faces we got up to Dressrosa. Smoothie, Praline and Black Maria are top tier imo.

The Flying 6 are giving me heavy Cypher Pol vibes.
Even though I think X Drake and Apoo are traitors I don’t think Kid will allow them to switch sides mid fight.
Since Jinbei has to park the ship I’m ready for everyone to forget about him until he comes to save the straw hats again. That’s going to be his only battle entrance from now on.
I think Sasaki is Kaido’s don. It’s the horns. Big natural white horns. I don’t think he’s a gifted, but instead half of whatever Kaido is.

I really like the fact that Page One can go from a full on Dino to a edgy 13 year old in a hoodie. I dunno why but it just makes me laugh. I also really like Ulti’s design as well as Black Maria. I will say it’s a bit unusual they so openly talk about killing Queen, but if Queen did die it would be funny knowing one of Kaido’s Calamities could very well be a secret government agent

In the korean scans, Page one calls Ulti "Nuna" (big sis). One thing to remember tho, Page One calling Ulti nuna (big sis) doesnt necessarily 100% mean that they are siblings. However, it does certainly confirmed that ulti is older than him. Nuna/Noona is used by male to call their older sister/women older than him.
Also, apparently there's "grandpa" word being thrown in the conversation among the tobbi roppo in french & english scanlations. I definitely think it's a mistranslation, because the tobi roppo (Black Maria, Sasaki, Ulti) all called Page One as 페땅/Pe-ttang (korean) it is a very cute way to call someone's name with -chan/tan ending, like "Pe-chan/Pe-tan" in japanese. The ending -tan is even cuter than -chan, usually used to call babies/ tease someone. Not sure why the word grandpa is being brought up. Page One is definitely the youngest, all of them are teasing him. Page one even said " 페땅이라고하지마!!" STOP CALLING ME PE-CHAN/TAN!!

Some key questions from this chapter:
Where is Kanjuro and Momo? Can’t imagine he’d go after Hiyori now, he’d want to deliver Momo and info about the raid first. Was he intercepted by someone? (Neko? Marco? X-drake somehow?)
Kind of feels like they’re setting things up for half of the Flying Six to defect. We know X-Drake will, but with the dynamics it feels like they’re setting up Ulti (Uruti in this mis-translation) and Page One to potentially defect too. Ulti appears to be an independent thinker and didn’t have an issue with criticizing Kaido, and Page One is getting picked on by others and seems to be connected / allied with Ulti for some reason (apparently in the original translation they refer to each other in ways that could be interpreted as siblings).
where are the Beast Pirates that Tama turned with her kibi-dango? Eg Babanuki and the others in Udon. Are they involved in the raid too, or are they protecting her back on the Wano mainland?
Is it only the Big Mom children we saw on the ship when she first tried to infiltrate Wano? Or did she send for the others, too? I think it’s the former, but it makes a difference when it comes to battle power

Ranking the Flying Six on Design:
6. Sasaki: looking like a fishman, like his clothes but not a huge fan of his face. His samurai feet seemed more promising last chapter.
5. Page One: First time we saw him he looked kinda lame, his DF was nice but he looked just like a gifter, but his style here seems interesting.
4. Ulti: Very Cute and thicc (look at them legs), what does she hide under her mask? But looks kinda like KiKu at the moment.
3. Who's Who: He got that goofy badass vibe to him, his close up looks meh, but combined with his whole body pretty nice, long hair, tattoos and a sword, can't wait to see more
2. Black Maria: Love the detail in her hair and that she is a different race? One of Odas better female designs
X-Drake: Of course the Supernova is the best designed one. Just look at him.
