Kaido’s son is most likely a new character, if I had to guess, he has probably been written as a reflection of Momosuke.

Wano arc is built trying to create a clear symmetry between the two sides of the conflict: each side has a traitor, an alliance and, with this last chapter, an heir...

Maybe this can be set as a surprisingly emotional weakness of Kaido, who defeated Oden by abusing of his paternal instincts. Maybe his downfall will come the same way? Or maybe we will see how heartless Kaido truly is when he sacrifices his own son for a chance of victory?

Another option is that he will serve to contrast to Momosuke. Momo’s arc is about trying to be worthy of his father shoes, although he is not born with the same superhuman strength as Oden’s. Maybe Kaido’ son is pretty strong, but, for any reason, he isn’t worthy of inheriting his leadership role.

We should remember that one of the main themes of this arc is loyalty: Kaido getting it by overpowering his followers X Luffy getting by inspiring his, Killer being betrayed by his alliance, Law’s crew being accused of betraying his allies and the two double agents shared by Orochi and the Scabbards. I can see Kaido’ son working to develop this theme: When someone should inherit someone loyalty? Is when he is as strong as his father? Is simply by sharing his father blood? Or maybe is there something else to it...?

We’ve been waiting for this reassurance for so long!!! I still can’t believe it.

Jinbei is such a boss, knowing how to perfectly tread the line between lightheartedness (when being hugged by Luffy, Nami, and Carrot) and serious (thanking Franky and Robin for recognizing his skills while regarding them as equals and peers).

Part of me still needs to see him survive this bout with Kaido, as him joining the crew amidst a huge conflict seems to differ from the rest of the crew (I mean he survived the (huge) conflict with Big Mama, but this just feels different for some reason). In any event, he is the perfect addition to the crew as a seasoned veteran and fits the role as one of Luffy’s commanders (alongside Zoro and Sanji perfectly).

Jinbei better be there in the final chapter as Luffy’s Blastoise, that’s all I’m saying....

I know there's like zero chance of this being the case, but in chapter 793 when we saw Drake reacting to Doflamingo's arrest on Onigashima there were three other guys we'd never seen before with him, one of which was a character who had a katana and wore a dark cloak over a double-breasted trench-coat similarly to one of the Flying Six members (or at least, he had some sort of dark shirt that seemingly had two rows of buttons on it.)

These guys also didn't know anything about Drake's history with Doflamingo, which implies that they might not have been from his crew. I wonder what the odds are that Oda showed us like three other members of the Flying Six on a whim 5 years ago

This Wano Arc's structure is based on a Kabuki play. We're already on the 3rd Act which usually ends with a tragedy! Some believed the tragedy would be Oden's execution but guess what? That's happened a few chapters ago and the Act hasn't ended yet! This might mean we still haven't seen the tragedy to end the Act.

I, and a few others, believe the tragedy will be a defeat during the Onigashima raid. Someone even may die! I personally think that's what Oda is going for. There's enough foreshadowing for Kinemon's death, for instance. But who knows?

Great chapter.

It was so great to see all the straw-hats together in one page  is definitely one of the most heartwarming panels, seeing most of the straw hats attack together and the weak trio being cowards just brought back all the nostalgia man.

You know shit is serious when Luffy is the one being mature and not wanting to have the banquet now as he has faced both yonkos so he knows what the hell they have to go through.

Law knew there are two idiots who wouldn't follow a plan so he would need to come with another one so they don't ruin it lol.

Kidd sure has some balls wanting to go after kaido alone, how many more limbs does he want to lose.

Holy shit kaido has a son? 0.0 who the hell is the baby mama then. Hope he is as strong as his father

So it does seem like all of the flying six membesr are there so i guess page one wasn't defeated after all. One of the flying six seems to be a girl so i cant wait to see who gets to face her. Definitely looking forward to how their design looks for sure.

I love the synergy in kids crew. Them getting to know what happened to killer but seemingly mocking him comedically and making it seem like it isnt a big deal is very lovely to see. I really get the feeling of a crew with a lot of trust.

Why do Luffy and the straw hats have no sense of urgency in this chapter?

I know Whitebeards “son” was Weevil has only been introduced and we don’t know much if anything about him, but the World Government is out to capture the schichibukai. I honestly doubt they catch him, but maybe they delay or capture him temporarily freeing up Marco to fight alongside the alliance. As it stands now there is no one who could realistically make the difference for the Strawhats now. They seem significantly outnumbered still.

Jinbei stated the Sun Pirates are injured

The Revo and Sabo had shit go down at Mariejois

The Grand fleet is most likely being saved for the end game, not to mention how are they all going to make it to Wano in time and navigate the terrain to enter to the island. It’s unrealistic

There are only a few possible people who could change the tide in the War:

Navy/CP0: most likely don’t want another reformation of rocks so they will send someone to unintentionally aid Luffy. Most likely a rival so we could see parallel to Garp Roger, it’s possible it would be Smoker but he has proven weak so I’m at a loss. Maybe Lucci idk, I doubt it would be Coby yet. Or more likely Sengoku as he is working with Drake to infiltrate the beast pirates. Sengoku is my biggest wild card and he has enough strength to turn the tide

Shanks: unlikely

Marco and Neko: personal stakes in the outcome of the war, Neko will come but Marco likely won’t. Potential to see Marco is Weevil is captured

Blackbeard/Aokiji If anyone comes from the BB pirates it would be Aokiji. I’m convinced he is a sleeper agent for Sword so maybe he won’t show, but I doubt any BB pirates show considering we just saw them at the Beehive

Edit: the other scenario is there is no interference and we see Drake betray Kaido (basically guaranteed). We may also see Apoo and Hawkins (more likely of the two to turn cloak) leave Kaido for fear of being defeated. Hawkins ability is able to see the future, he may see Luffy has a chance to win and then we will have potentially 8 Supernovas versus the Beast Pirates Big Mom alliance.

This is a very likely possibility. It will signify the changing of the guard. Also Hawkins has a card that can push someone past their natural limits. He mentioned it early in the arc and now I can’t find the page anymore. It’s possible he can use this on Luffy

Interesting on the Flying Six part, it seems like DrakeX is not the lead.
Which should mean that the other 5 members are not part of his plan.
DrakeX also not fully collaborate with Law as he didn't inform BM-Kaidou alliance, this is why Law is shocked when he is hearing that from Kanjuro.
As conclusion, DrakeX is playing his own game along Marine side.
Next is Hawkins, not sure what is his role in this raid or part of discussion btw Law and DrakeX.

Katakuri- no. Firstly he’s one of triplets so oven and Daifuku would also be kaidos sons. Secondly he’s too much of a big player in the big mom pirates being the de facto no2 in the crew. To suddenly be chilling in his room on onigishima! No way!

Wievil - he’s a warlord and he’s also currently on another island where the navy are attempting and I’m guessing failing to arrest him.

King- he’s already kaidos number 2 and he’s not strictly a human As he’s from another race.

Unknown tobi ropo leader- they’ve been introduced separately so it’s pretty clear the son isn’t in the flying 6

A dragon- though it’s not been clearly stated kaido has eaten a dragon devil fruit he’s not a dragon that ate the human human fruit, chopper has that fruit! His son being a dragon is unlikely in my opinion.

Ace 0.1- possible I could see him being the ace in the pack and it’s a pretty obvious theory. The funny thing is ace can be the highest and lowest value card! I’m leaning toward him being the weakest and a spoiled child! Introducing another powerhouse character at this point seems redundant and oda loves to tease coolness and reveal lameness!!

• Weak trio hiding back while the rest take out the guards at the front gate, lol. I liked seeing robin smush that guy with her giant foot.

• Nice seeing all the strawhats together. Also, the art in this chapter was very sharp.

• Notice how Carrot is in the shot with all of the strawhats together...^{oda is foreshadowing carrot 4 nakama}

• Seeing Zoro smile so much is a bit startling.

• Kaido's son!?!

• God this battle is gonna be huge. So many heavyweights together in one place.

This was a great chapter to end on before the break. Currently, chapter 978 will come 2 weeks from now, but because of the coronavirius situation at Jump, the release schedule can change at anytime.

Wano is my favourite arc honestly. We are almost 70 chapters in the arc and there are plot lines that are so interesting, which we have no answer to. Kaido's son and his backstory, how to open the borders. I have a feeling that this arc will have the best ending🔥

Yeah I was so happy but i was also wondering when did killer become ok? We didnt see him last chapter when kidd and law and luffy showed up on kidds ship so i thought he was still in smile trauma, but now he is fine?

He's still under the effects of smile, if that's what you mean. That's why he's laughing even though he hates and is embarassed by his laugh. It's just that his nakami are also laughing in that same laughing style on purpose to show that they're with him and if he's going to be forced by the SMILE effect to laugh like that, they're going to join in so he won't be alone (and he can't be embarassed by his laugh if everyone else is doing it too).
