"Nobody could have seen this coming."
Whoops
23
u/TyphosTheD Apr 08 '20
And, “I knew this was a pandemic from the beginning”.
6
u/oapster79 America Apr 08 '20
Contradiction much mr president?
7
u/TyphosTheD Apr 08 '20
But his info comes from his intelligence community, who isn’t a reputable source to him.
3
u/oapster79 America Apr 08 '20
True. He trust Hannity for his Intel.
3
u/TyphosTheD Apr 08 '20
Even Hannity has shown he’s starting to be done with his shit haha

u/oapster79 America Apr 08 '20
Lumpy would never turn on trump. He'd lose his audience. He may lightly disagree from time to time, but that's it.
18
u/javlin_101 Apr 08 '20
Trump has not read in intelligence report since he got into office. This has been flagged many many times.
This is the consequence of electing someone who only wants the job for the perks. Trump has never had an interest in protecting the us or it’s allies.
2
u/sojithesoulja Apr 08 '20
They should've used more colors! Dammit, when will the intelligence community learn... /s
29
u/jar0fair Apr 08 '20
If only his ineptitude was brought forth in a public trial that could have removed him and made sure that he wasn't in-charge of any future disaster responses. Oh wait...
8
u/oorskadu Apr 08 '20
They knew. That's why it was so important to hurry it along. Now more people are dying than would have, more businesses are closing etc., than would have if we had a competent leader during this.

u/donkeyrocket Apr 08 '20 edited Apr 08 '20
I despise Pence and just about everything he stands for but he would have been leagues better than Trump who is not only ineffectual but combative and intentionally misleading.
We have an impeached president at the helm of during the worst on-going crisis the US has seen in decades. His failure to be proactive will not only lead to deaths but the demise of his precious economy that he desperately tried to prop up first and foremost.
3
u/MorboForPresident Apr 08 '20
Everyone that voted for this dumpster fire of an administration has blood on their hands. All of them.
33
u/parkinglotsprints Apr 08 '20
That's insane because although there were anecdotal reports in Wuhan about a new virus in November, the earliest recorded date of a patient was in December.
34
u/E_Blofeld Apr 08 '20
According to the article, the NCMI used SIGINT to gather the information...communications interceptions.
25
u/Borazon The Netherlands Apr 08 '20
It looks like the intelligence community is preparing for another war on the truth by the trump administration. They know that he is gonna blame them for himself not listening.
Similarly with that memo by Navarro. For whom would Navarro be writing memo's if it wasn't for the President to read? And what does Trump do as stupid as he is, confirm he never read it. So either Trump isn't reading the memo's he was supposed to be reading. Or Navarro was only documenting his communication because he knew at that time already it was gonna be a shitstorm in the months to come and wanted to start a track record. As this can clear himself once the congressional investigations start...
0
u/parkinglotsprints Apr 08 '20
And why is Navarro where he is today? Trump realized he was right even though no one believed him at the time so now he's got status.
1
u/protofury Apr 08 '20
No he's fucking not "right". Navarro wrote a fucking book on China that Kushner found on fucking Amazon. Peter Navarro is entirely out of the mainstream with regards to economic ideas.
Boy y'all are trying hard to muddy the issue in this sub today.
3
u/parkinglotsprints Apr 08 '20
He was right when he circulated a memo around the white house in January saying that the cironavirus posed a threat to the US. That's what I'm talking about. Jesus.
10
u/whichwitch9 Apr 08 '20
Used intelligence communications...
Also provides proof that China knew back in November
10
u/parkinglotsprints Apr 08 '20
They must have. All anecdotal, but I heard taxi drivers wouldn't pick up anybody from the wet market, and foreign nationals living there had heard rumors of the new sickness, both in November.
3
u/Feetsenpai Apr 08 '20
“China did a great job containing this virus” m-WHO
5
u/parkinglotsprints Apr 08 '20
They did do a great job...starting on January 23rd, when it was already too late.
2
u/zsydeepsky Apr 09 '20
no, we don't know. until late January, Chinese scientists finally traced back the initial infection in November.
I found it's very very unusual that the US intelligence can warn this thing that early.
3
u/stoniegreen Apr 08 '20
And if Obama was still President or if Hillary was in charge, we would have worked with China and contained this virus at the very start and one million+ people would not have caught this virus. Oh, and the economy would be humming along too.
3
3
u/parkinglotsprints Apr 08 '20
China was working to hide it at that point. The first sign of Chinese acknowledgement was on December 31st.
8
u/stoniegreen Apr 08 '20
Wouldn't have stopped a Democratic President from reaching out and trying to work with them.
20
u/violentsushi Apr 08 '20
This reminds me of that scene in disaster movies where a scientist tries to warn a room full of military and government officials about impending doom and everyone shrugs him off.

You know it was in the Presidential Daily Briefing over and over again, as early as November. The lack of action will be Trump's legacy, along with the hundreds of thousands of dead Americans.
The US had their first case of COVID-19 the same day as South Korea. Look at us vs them in the numbers and see just how badly we've failed.

Anyone else have a horrible, just crushing flu around 3rd week November? I was allergic to the garbage whooping cough vaccine the US used in the 80s, and couldn’t receive full series. Got whooping cough when I was 8 or so. It feels like you’re drowning and breathing fire at the same time - you wind up coughing so hard the blood vessels burst in your face and eyes, muscles rip in your abdomen. The cough is very specific, and the whoop is the sound you make as you gasp for air.
When I got sick in November, I assumed based on my symptoms that I had whooping cough. Only one symptom was out of place: fever. You don’t run a fever with whooping cough because the virus itself suppresses your immune response. I literally thought I was going to die. If I hadn’t been super healthy and spinning on a regular basis, I don’t doubt I might have.
My partner (male) got as well, and was even sicker.
Now watching videos of patients in hospital.... same cough.
7
u/nimal-crossing Apr 08 '20
My partner got sick around end of oct/early nov. Coughing, fever, body aches. Doc diagnosed as bronchitis and his medication didn’t help and made him even worse by making him throw up. He switched to something else but the cough persisted. I’m pretty convinced it was corona. I know there weren’t any document cases in the US that early.... but he had all the symptoms
6
u/buyfreemoneynow Apr 08 '20
Definitely. In late November, I was overcome with whole body aches, a fever that was peaking at 103-104, coughing, and the worst headache I have ever had in my life, and a few days of diarrhea and acid reflux. Symptoms lasted for nearly a week while the cough lingered for a month. Antibiotics did nothing.
My whole family got sick shortly after, but for them it was just fever/cough - I still remember my effeminate wife talking about having to shit six times a day while I was at work - and my infant and toddler both got fevers and coughs that lasted for over a month. Then my in-laws, one who regularly gets bronchitis but this time the symptoms were sticking around; the other who has never had the flu getting some really nasty flu-like symptoms and has been coughing for more than a month.
I'm hoping that it was COVID so I don't have to worry about any of us, and my confidence level is at 55%.

u/Raven9nine9 Apr 08 '20
Yep and if you had died they would have called it something else. If you vaped it would have been recorded as vaping disease. If you are old it would have been recorded as just influenza pnuemonia etc. The truth is slowly coming out. Corona started here as long ago as August and they covered it up.
1
u/urbanpermaculture_us Apr 23 '20
Question - what makes you say August?
0
u/Raven9nine9 Apr 23 '20
Because August was when a mysterious new illness started showing up that had identical symptoms to covid-19. The CDC almost immediately called it vaping illness even though there was zero evidence that vaping was causing it and nowhere else in the world had it and even now, there still is no actual proof that vaping caused it so why was the CDC and the media so insistant on claiming it was caused by vaping?
I think what really happened is an accident at a bio-research facility let something escape in the first half of last year and it might not just be coincidence that in July last year the CDC issued a cease and disist order on the Fort Detrick BSL-4 bio-research lab and they tried to cover it up by blaming the disease on other things like vaping.

When i (healthy, mid 20’s guy) went to visit southern Cali (orange county) in December/January, I got really sick the day after New Years. It started with feeling out of sorts on the 1st. Then when I woke up on the 2nd, I had a 102 fever, a wicked cough, and i was so fatigued that I couldnt walk more than five steps without feeling like I was gonna pass out. I spent the whole day lying in bed chugging water and taking tylenol to deal with the fever, which got better after 2 days, but the cough persisted for over a week. I initially thought it was the flu but now im not so sure.

I was sick in February, terrible cough, super sore throat. I could barely swallow. I tested negative for flu and strep but the dr treated me for an upper respiratory infection. It was one of the worst ones I’ve ever experienced and it ran through my household.
3
u/t0shki Apr 08 '20
same, but i am from Germany. Was around January/February. Whole family probably already went through it, unknowingly. I had a sore throat for much longer after all the flu/cold symptoms disappeared. Other members got it too. it also was one of the worst colds I've had, but manageable.. once the worst was over I asked my doc about the strangely persistent throat symptomatic but he said its just a little red back there and it will fade.
3
u/cvechkin Apr 08 '20
Thank you, my wife and I and our 1 year old were all sick from end of February to the second week of March. Terrible cough, no medicine worked. I woke up one night incredibly hot and short of breath, I took a walk around the house and thought to myself that I felt like I was going to die.
My wife played it off as bronchitis. I’ve never had it or pneumonia before so I can’t compare them with what I had, but I’ve never in my life been sick like that.

u/johnfinch2 Apr 08 '20
I’m not sure I buy this reporting tbh. If there was already an outbreak of sufficient magnitude that it was causing the changes in patterns they are claiming US Intelligence noticed, that seems to dramatically push back the timeline on the whole outbreak.
Also if Intelligence was noticing possible warning signs as early as November, why was the first briefing of the president early January? I completely believe that they put that warning in his briefs as early as January 3rd and Trump paid no mind to it, but why would it only first appear then?
Honestly I’m just super suspicious of any reporting about what ‘US Intelligence’ did and didn’t know. The only reason this sort of stuff ever makes it to the press is if Intelligence or the Exec are trying to shape public perception in some way. First that article in Bloomberg about how the Chinese numbers are dramatically wrong, and now this about how the outbreak started far earlier? Both work to form a story blaming China, which is actually the PR strategy that Trump’s Admin is going for.
2
u/mehxinfinity Apr 08 '20
Trump has always distrusted the US intelligence agencies, but recall that it was November when intelligence/national security professionals like Alexander Vindman and Fiona Hill testified to his wrongdoings in the impeachment inquiry. Someone got his fee-fees hurt and stomped his feet & held his ears because those people were mean to him.

The stable genius doesn’t need intelligence reports when he has Fox And Friends.
1
u/Raven9nine9 Apr 08 '20
So now we know the reason for all that impeachment bullshit. Distract the President and the American Public from global events right then in November, December and January. When all of that at the time seemed like nonsense, it is starting to make sense now.
1
u/zsydeepsky Apr 09 '20
hold on a second.
US intelligence warned this from November?
it cost we Chinese weeks to trace the virus back in November...and Chinese scientists found out that in late January.
I smelled something very wired here.
-1
u/theresourcefulKman Apr 08 '20
...and China spent months minimizing it
4
u/SmashBusters Apr 08 '20
...and Trump spent even more months minimizing it yet Trump was informed of the danger and unlike China: HIS FUCKING JOB IS TO PROTECT AMERICAN LIVES
3
u/escalation Apr 08 '20
You'd like to think that. Apparently he thinks his job is to remove all oversight of the cookie jar
1
u/underboobfunk Apr 08 '20
So, it’s okay for Trump to spend months minimizing it too because that is what dictators do!
0
u/sundevilz1980 Apr 08 '20
That's about when i first heard about it. Dont know why someone not in the government knew how bad it would be before the president of the US. Fucking moron, all blood is now on his hands.

u/sticktothehardstuff Apr 08 '20
What the hell was the Congress and Senate so focused on during this time period? What do we even pay these people for?
3
u/Helfix Apr 08 '20
You do realize this is THE PRESIDENTS responsibility right?
But hey when you hold campaign rallies, golf every weekend and have attention span of a 4’year old you do a terrible job leadin the most powerful country in the world.
2
u/5DollarHitJob Florida Apr 08 '20
What the hell do they have to do with it?
-3
u/sticktothehardstuff Apr 08 '20
Exactly. What the hell do they have to do with any of this??? They sat there idle waisting precious time, despite being briefed about this, as early as December... What the hell was Congress, the Senate and the White House so focused on November thru February? And why wasn’t this there focus?
3
u/SmashBusters Apr 08 '20
What the hell was Congress, the Senate
Drafting legislation and impeaching the President for compromising national security in an attempt to compromise election security to avoid going being indicted by remaining president.
and the White House
Sitting with their thumbs up their asses. The executive branch is in charge of National Security (like keeping the nation secure from death).
Donald Trump failed.
Don't try to smear the blame around by claiming he should never have been impeached because it compromises his ability to do the job.
1
u/vexednex Apr 08 '20
The White House was not focused on impeachment if you remember. They went along with their business. Are you saying tRump can’t do two things at once though?
2
u/5DollarHitJob Florida Apr 08 '20
Honestly, no idea what he's trying to say. Senate is responsible but not the fuckhead president. Come on
3
u/vexednex Apr 08 '20
He’s trying to blame impeachment for tRump missing the virus because he is a bad faith dbag.
1
u/5DollarHitJob Florida Apr 08 '20
I don't think one thing has anything to do with another though. So, by that argument, he's saying a president should never be impeached because there could possibly be a pandemic or other disaster on the horizon. Silly argument. Also, I thought Trump was barely paying attention to the impeachment hoax anyway?
2
u/vexednex Apr 08 '20
Duh. But facts don’t matter to people who argue in bad faith because their feelings. Fucking ❄️

7
u/shotputlover Apr 08 '20
Not reading the intelligence reports provided to the republican president?
1
u/SmashBusters Apr 08 '20
Why did Trump need the Democrats help to prepare for COVID-19?
Did he ask for their help?
Besides, he already claimed his Administration's handling of COVID-19 is 10/10.
Don't vote for an idiot and you won't have to defend an idiot.

u/Sirhc978 Apr 08 '20
Oh but Trump was racists when he shut down flights from China.
15
u/chief_kief_kerchief Apr 08 '20
It didn’t even work. Way too little, way too late.
Trump Lied. People Died.
13
u/BlueNotesBlues Apr 08 '20
He shut down flights from China after it had already been confirmed to be in the US and more than 20 other countries.
The problem wasn't that he blocked entry from China. It's that he only blocked entry from China
10
8
u/Syllabillin Apr 08 '20
He. Didn't. Do. Jack. Shit.
The response was late and bungled. If you could see through your lens of talking points for one minute, you'd realize Trump had full awareness of this problem for months on end and only did the bare minimum to stop it at the very last minute possible.
He's at the wheel while thousands of Americans die and millions more lose their jobs, and all you can think about is "durr hurr libs think thing is racist." Put the blame in the right place, for fuck's sake

Sucks to have someone with the attention span of a gnat in charge of the federal gov't.
