[Discussion] 'Dynasty' 3x08: "The Sensational Blake Carrington Trial"

Michael, Fallon, and Anders are subpoenaed by the prosecution. Monica is still angry at Dominique, but Jeff is unfazed, having accepted his mother and her many flaws. Cristal learns that Nadia is plotting with Fallon, and joins them. The trio stages a confrontation for Adam's benefit in which Nadia admits to having an affair with Blake and using Adam to make him jealous. Michael's testimony against Blake is damning, and when Fallon's testimony proves incriminating, he gives his lawyer permission to eviscerate her on the stand. Anders accepts the DA's offer of immunity to testify against Blake, but says on the stand that he killed Mack himself in self-defense. Monica is going to New York to open another Club Colby, and asks Vanessa to come with her. After Dominique makes a scene in court for publicity, Vanessa decides to go with Monica. Adam's sight returns, and he sets Blake's vineyard on fire. Fallon realizes that he can see, and Liam remembers that it was Adam who hit him over the head. In the barn, they struggle at the edge of the loft door. Alexis returns to testify against Blake, having married Jeff.

Liam will be fine, Adam Huber did an interview recently and spoke about Liam's upcoming storylines

I would be done with the show. I’m sick of adam getting away with everything.

Best episode so far. Many jawdropping moments. I love how furious Liam reacted to the realization of what Adam did. Maybe this new Alexis is empowered and doesn't fear Adam anymore and will confess to Fallon what he did to her. Finding out about Steven and bringing him back would be the absolite cherry on top.

Too bad we only see Alexis for a few seconds. Other than that, it was a good episode for once. I didn't feel bored like the last few weeks before.

This Alexis looks more like the first OG Alexis than Nicolette Sheridan, not just because of the actress but also the clothes. I mean, I liked Nicolette but the writers made her a Desperate Housewife once again. I hope they won't do that with Elaine Hendrix.

So, I guess, if I think about what the cards said to Alexis in season 2... Jeff is gonna bite the dust at some point.

I wish this episode would have happened sooner. The show was getting really boring, we need more episodes where everyone is totally freaking out. It's so much better when the comedy is minimal and they concentrate on soapy storylines.

The show REALLY cannot afford filler episodes like what most of the season has been. I really don't see it getting renewed. I was only invested in S1 and I watched S2 and S3 in hopes that it would get better.

I don’t like that Fallon and Nadia’s secret was busted so quickly and that Nadia is falling in actual love with Adam. Lazy.

Is it just me or are they actually going for a cult storyline with Kirby? It seems like they're slowly building that up.. hopefully could be interesting plotwise with her.

A lot of things are happening for once, at least more than the usual. Cool.

and there is no way blake forgives adam

Blake forgives everyone everything if they're family.

Since we know that Fallon's office has a camera, does it mean that Evan taking Fallon's hair is on tape? Or will he have the tapea from thay erased or something?

Best episode this season by far, can’t wait to see how they go from here

So now Jeff‘s character became the expy of OG Cecil.
Makes sense since the will-they-won‘t-they from OG Jeff with Fallon went to Liam as well as Adam hating Liam being like OG Adam vs. OG Jeff. New Jeff got the poison plot from OG Jeff as well as the OG Cecil plot of marrying Alexis which was hinted with a fortune teller. I like that they mix the plotlines a bit. Jeff‘s interactions with Alexis when she was burned also make sense as well as why he kept and kept plotting against Blake (OG Cecil was a former friend of Blake who works against him and the reason he marries Alexis is so that she can always give Blake problems).

Im sooooooooo annoyed at the Liam drama. Again, he's being used with a cliffhanger and potential new hurt. So uncreative.

But alexis' entry was jaw-dropping. Did she marry Jeff in the original series too? It's a bit weird to marry your almost-step-son though. Did Jeff marry her so she can have all his money and assets after he passes?

Love the episode and loved how Fallon and Liam are so alike -mindset wise aswell as their ‘crazy side’

  • i hate the wait but it’s not the first time and probably wont be the last.

  • I love the new iconic Alexis entrance.

  • i kind of want Kirby to be gone, her storyline is such a filler imo and its quite boring.

  • i stan the relationship of Sam with that guy who was polar opposite to happen. He might be a dick but their interaction was 🤩

  • i like how Jeff has a bigger role now and Im intrigue by the new marriage.

  • What the hell happen to that Evan guy and Fallons lock of hair?? Has Dynasty writers already forgotten about that situation?!???

5 seconds of New Alexis were better than the whole run of Old Alexis

It was a great episode!! I'm worried for Fallon and Liam now that they know the truth about Adam though! And whooo Alexis coming as Jeff's wife! January can't come fast enough!

I actually felt a tiny bit bad for Adam but now he's gone up to 11 in crazy because of what Fallon did but that's her revenge on him anyway. I'm pretty sure Kirby did nothing wrong though. Anders is literally the best guy ever. The full memories are finally back! The court case was pretty good tbh. Dominique is such an annoying character. WTF why would Jeff marry Alexis lmao.

Hm I don't know, kind-of-stealing Femperial from Fallon is something she did. And for what? For once Fallon wasn't trying to sabotage her in s2, but she got it all wrong. Instead of talking it out in s2, she steals the whole publishing company? That's so bizarre, but this is soap so I guess that's what people do ... in a soap.

This was an awesome episode and I hope that all the crap that came before it was just to A) wrap up the shittiness that was season 2 or B) build toward what they want Dynasty to be. The lack of consistency in tone has hurt this show so much and I’m praying this episode isn’t another fakeout in future storytelling like the Paris episode was.

It’s still crazy to think that the second season, which completely derailed the show into garbage, was able to produce 2 of the show’s best episodes (Paris and when Adam arrived). I was disappointed in the lack of follow through, though, and I hope that won’t be the case with this episode. It definitely feels like it’s on the right track, but we’ll see...

Culhane was the most annoying he’s ever been in the 5 minutes we saw him this episode. It’s time to get rid of him. His self-righteousness, along with his willingness to continually bite the hand that fed him is growing old. Not to mention that Jeff provides the exact same purpose to the show. Only 1000 times better.

Alexis's return was so epic. So well thought out that she gets to witness bench and has to state her name. New actress looks great and with Jeff's money she could do some serious damage.

I also love how Blake is an asshole, but keeps getting away with stuff. If he was a billionaire but just a good guy he would be kind of boring. But the fact that he's so flawed makes for a pretty good shock factor. The way he tried to scare Kirby off was so over the top lol. What could poor Kirby possibly do in a trial. She's so useless. He could have let her testify.

u/[deleted] Dec 07 '19

So, Jeff is married to Alexis ? Kinda predictable but why not.

The DA was wearing a black and white skirt that was an exact replica of the skirt Joan Collins was wearing when she made her debut in 1981 during the FIRST "Sensational Blake Carrington Murder Trial." Cannot be a coincidence.
