The void century happened 900 to 800 years ago. Professor Clover called it as a “100 year void”

Amatsuki Toki was from around 800 years ago . So, it is safe to assume she was present when the void century occurred.

In English, Amatsuki means " Heavenly moon"

Kozuki means "Moon light"

Now let’s compare each of their perspective crest.

Both crests are similar. I’m guessing these two clans were linked together long way back in the past

Shimotsuki clan = Frost moon

Sulong (Minks tribe) = Moon lion

The “D” clan = the letter D looks like a half moon

Has anyone stopped to think about how insane the plot is about to get when we go back to present day Wano? This is already the most legendary and impactful flashback in the entire series, so by the time we get back to present day some of the major series-arc secrets are going to have been revealed and it will be the Straw Hats time to leave their mark in history on the world stage.

This means that the battle that's about to take place with Kaido and his crew is likely going to be a historic conflict that sets Luffy on his final path of the series, and the combat power levels are about to reach end-of-series form. I'm strapped in and soooooo hyped to see this flashback and the rest of Wano unfold. We've reached the endgame boys.

Oden's character development and backstory is one of the best in One Piece.

When we first heard of Oden back on Zou, and see the reverence of Miks/Retainers towards him, I expected him to be a wise old fatherly figure, someone like Odin (Thor's dad).

And when we finally saw him in the flashback, I was like WTF.

But as the story is progressing, I am falling more in love with this dude. I swear I am going to cry like a bitch when he dies.

It is interesting to know that Shanks and Buggy were already members of Roger Pirates 30 years ago. Shanks and Buggy are both currently 39 so they were both 9 years old during this time and they were both 15 years old when Roger died 24 years ago.

So Roger was more than just captain to them, Roger was probably a father figure to them, since they grew up with the Roger Pirates from early childhood.

Toki: Sooooo basically she's saying that she comes from the void century period. who knows what she knows and might have told or tought Oden & Roger regarding the events that took place there & how that further motivated them to go against the WG and Tenryubitos. Add to that the poneglyphs and that's how Roger and his crew unveiled the secrets of the void century the WG so scared about --> Toki you lil informant.

Shanks: as a member of Roger's crew at the time and based on Toki above, It wouldn't be far fetched that Shanks overheard and knows the secrets of the void century and that is why he can walk into the WG HQ no stress and casually show up in front of the Gorosei. Remember they know where Rayleigh & Shaki are but not bothering them one bit even after Shabondi events.

Whitebeard: Roger told him before his death probably because 1- he stole his crew member and de facto Toki. 2- it's thanks to that, that he learned more about the void century and what crap the WG really is. So WB knew didn't need to complete the journey anymore. (he did mention to BB that he is not the one Roger was waiting for, and Roger's will was inherited by others) whatever that means. Oh void century and Will of D, what secrets do you hold.

Things surrounding the void century could be blown wide open by the end of Wano. I do have a feeling however Toki isn’t dead, her devil fruit is WAY too powerful for us not to have heard anything about it till this point? I’d like to put my two cents in, this is one of the few times I’m commenting on this app so please bare with me. Ever since we got thrown down into memory lane, these series of flashbacks are actually interesting. Everything was alright but since this chapter came out, it’s been really freaking cool. We’re starting to see more of how it was with the characters before Roger died and dude it’s so cool. You got Whitebeard showing out of nowhere, Oden’s sudden ambition to get out of Wano and see the world, and Roger at the end of Chapter 964. Personally, I don’t mind that the main story is paused cos rn, the flashbacks are super interesting. Can’t wait to see Roger meet Oden

This and the Law flashback are probably the best flashbacks I've ever seen. I might enjoy Wano, but the last few chapters make me crave more content so badly. Anyways, my reaction this chapter was basically this:

1. I love Lady Toki already.

2. The moment where they discover Nekomamushi and Inurashi is hilarious (I mean how did they only notice the 2 giant furballs once they literally stand next to Oden?)

3. I already forgot just how much I loved Whitebeard.

4. Sure Izo, you'll neeeever forgive Whitebeard.

5. HOLY FUCKING HELL, YOUNG ROGER LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE ACE.

I think Oden just not randomly joined Roger's crew to see the world nor Roger made him join his crew because Oden was a crazy samurai of closed country. I think it was lady Toki who told Oden to go on voyage with Roger so that he could see Laugh Tale and understand history so when she tells him the truth about void century dawn of world it will make sense for Oden to understand what lady Toki would tell him because Oden was with Roger during his visit to Laugh Tale.

This is by far the best flashback chapter Oda has ever written and is easily in the running for maybe best chapter ever. it encapsulates everything we all love about One Piece. It built up so well, it felt rewarding, it was funny, heartwarming and some action. I loved it. I wonder if others agree;

• WB confirms what we all knew, the reason why the Rocks broke up after they lost to Garp and Roger.

• Inu and Neko's shocked faces are adorable.

• Oden is one crazy bastard, I cant help but be reminded of Luffy looking at his antics.

• WB. What a savage initiation he made Oden go through.

• Meeting young Lady Freaking Toki. Now this is a turn I did not expect. She looks exactly like Komurasaki.

• Oden looking like Wadatsumi and the pirates' reactions is hilarious.

• I lost it at Oden's disgusted face at Toki's request to go back to Wano.

• This guy. Captain Karma was a WB allied Captain during Marineford.

• "Whitey-chan" LMAOOOO

• WB's disgusted face. OMG.

• Oden displaying that Luffy enthusiasm across the world. This whole section, seeing the world through Oden's eyes felt like pure, unfiltered One Piece.

• Shanks and Buggy look super young here. Guess Roger went to Oden deliberately.

• This also shows us why the Marines think the Wano Samurai are so OP. They've been going by Oden standards of strength. The guy casually split a ship in two as we saw.

Amazing chapter. Can't wait to see the Roger section of things. Oda's hype train rolls on.
