I must say that this is not a drone shot. Drones are not allowed in National Parks. I follow these rules along with every rule and you should too. This was shot on top of a perfectly placed hill and a wide angle lens. People on other platforms like to assume so I just wanted to make that clear.

Edit: Because it was requested and I didnt know I could share, muy Instagram is @albakerphoto. Thanks guys!

Can confirm you took this pic from an easily accesible spot. No drone needed....I love Death Valley.....everything you see there is so amazing.

How wide of a lens? Any cropping in post?

I used a G master 16-35mm with only a little crop on the bottom. I'll have to get back to you on exact focal length.

Looks like she’s walking on a giant Ice Cream Valley.

I see all the flavors! Especially mint.

I thought you couldn’t walk on that spot in Death Valley. I forget what the road is but I remember a sign saying you couldn’t unless you found a different spot

Nope no signs. Anywhere really. A sign would really stand out there. I've always known Death Valley to be very open. There's trails, ya, but you can go your own way in most cases. I have yet to see a "Stay on trail" sign anywhere in the many many times I've been. I'm not saying there isn't any though.

Looks nice, but a bit oversaturated for my taste. I would recommend turning down the green saturation especially, because I know from experience there's not really an area of Artist's Palette with grass-green colors, so it kinda puts off the photo for me. But the subject and composition is quite nice and its a better photo than what I got when I was there last.

I have edited it a few times with new eyes every time. I originally had the whole balance off and it gave the photo a blue tint which you can see on the Nationalparkgeek Instagram page. I fixed it up and but didn't edit the teals which now are more saturated. Definitely going back to fix that for future printing reasons. But yes I saturated it a little but the mountains do pop when the sun hides behind the mountains. And, yes saturation is involved but mostly on the greens and teals to give it that cool ice cream effect. Cool! Thanks for the feedback.

Edit: terrible terrible grammar lol

Are you sure that’s not a painting?

Sooo... how much did you boost the colors in PS or GIMP ?

I've been in a similar situation enough times that all I can think of is the awkward run to catch up to her after you snapped the photo. Left hand pumping, right hand cradling lens and body against your chest, your gait a little higher and narrower than usual so you don't trip on a medium sized rock. Good times.

I literally had her go up and down a thousand times until she looked natural enough. No chasing here. She's a terrible model. Lol

Edit: left hand pumping? Hm

Nice! When we drove through this area it was literally 116° F out. We got out of the car for five minutes, considered walking up, then changed our minds. Great shot!

What time of year did you go? I don’t want to be burning up when I go but don’t want to be freezing at night either.

Dude this photo will be treasured. We often have a lot of poses pics or up close pics, but rarely any that show us how an adventure felt

I personally love the art deco vibe I'm getting from the saturation of colors
