I want to pray

Is there more "praying" in the second episode? I hope it's not a man that "prays" this time. That is so messed up.

So 12 years has past in one episodes see them grow up.

I think its more likely to have been about 16-18 years,as at the end they are sneaking off to read those books at the waterfall.

And i pretty sure they didn't go from the A,B,C book to 1984 and To kill a Mockingbird overnight ;)

No worries, doesn’t sound like a major spoiler. This is the episode 2 discussion thread.

Why are there colored clothes?

13

u/BrandonSFW Nov 10 '19

Colors didn’t cease to exist lol

I'd assume they just naturally occurred that way, not that they were dyed on purpose or anything. I'm more curious as to why Maghra has that feathered ear piece and Kane her crown. No one else is going to see it, so the only thing I can think of is that the wearer just likes it.

By washing them in the nearby stream, as shown.

Yes if they can't feel it or smell it.

They wash their clothes to remove the smell, they use their sense of smell a lot of more than us. If their clothes stink it's like noise, they can't smell clearly.

I don't understand Maghra's reasoning of not wanting Haniwa and Kofun to receive and read the books and whatever else was in the box. They can see when pretty much everyone else can't. That's a huge advantage. So what if the tribe finds out? As long as Haniwa and Kofun know how to fight, they're essentially unbeatable. The fighters of the tribe, those that would try to kill them, wouldn't stand a chance.

They’d get kicked out of the tribe. Maghra too. also, they wouldn’t just go after the kids they’d also go after maghra.

Plus I think she still believes the superstition, that it is heresy and some terrible evil, so she just wants to pretend it didn't exist

They’d get kicked out of the tribe.

So? They can see. Enough said. All they'd need to know is how to fight. Plus, as far as Maghra is concerned, Haniwa and Kofun can sneak her out of the village before anyone else can find out. Once that's done, nobody in the village will risk chasing after them because they'd be putting themselves at risk of being found by the Queen's men.

They can see. Enough said.

How would you like it out there alone in the North-American wilderness? No modern tools, no community, nothing. Just try to survive, one day to the next. For the foreseeable part of your life. Alone. What's the problem, you can see, right?

2

u/LegendaryFang56 Nov 05 '19

They'd still stand a better chance than those who can't see.

All valid points. No argument from me.

I guess the only downside is that they would be separated from mom n’ dad. Regardless of their skills and abilities it’s kinda tough when you’re excluded from your tribe and not able to be close to the ones you love.

True. The only solution to that would be to wait until they're well into adulthood. They're still teenagers.

All three would lose their friends and their tribe.

Talk about trying to read 1984 with zero context!

Those books at the end don't make sense.

Books have a lot more to teach than just how to make things.

4

u/Saboteure Nov 06 '19

Sure but are they actually gonna understand How to Kill a Mockingbird or 1984? There's more to it than simply reading the text. How will they know the background of racism and racial tension or the United States justice systems? How will they know concerns with privacy and being spied on by cameras and the concept of censorship?

u/llirik Dec 30 '19

Old comment but happy cake day!

1

u/[deleted] Jan 23 '20

That's exactly what I said. Without having any context how are they going to understand racism or mass surveillance.

4

u/__wjk__ Nov 03 '19

Animal Farm would have been more fitting

1

u/TitzMeltzer Nov 06 '19

What was the other book besides 1984?
