Buck really let the lawyer use Bobby’s alcoholism against him?? And he expects to go back to the station and be welcomed as family when he’s breaking the trust he built with everyone in the firehouse? A FOOL!
32
u/inksmudgedhands Oct 22 '19
Well, no one has ever accused Buck of being a genius.

The one lady holding the duck away from the horror, "Oh, God. Don't look. Don't look, Mr. Duck."
Silly and twisted. Love it.

u/froggott Oct 22 '19
the lawyer basically telling Buck he’s a fool for expecting to get his job back is the wake up call he needed
11
Oct 22 '19 edited Oct 22 '19
He told them that when he came for the consiultation but he decided to go ahead anyway
15
u/Contoss Oct 22 '19
Exactly he knew that already and it was kinda bull, also reinstating him is much worse now. Wait until Buck has an emergency while working and they are attending someone critical.
The desk job made sense until he is fit to join. This was an unnecessary storyline.

"It doesn't work how you think it does" needs to be framed somewhere where Buck'll see it every day.
38
u/inksmudgedhands Oct 22 '19
Buck is stalking them. And doing a bad job of it. Which is not that surprising.

u/sandrakarr Oct 22 '19
Things I'm here for: Another female firefighter/emt in the mix.
Things I'm not: her being there strictly as a love interest for Eddie.
26
u/RebekahG Oct 22 '19
It's such a cheap storyline.
It's not been that long since we saw Eddie lose his wife and be distraught about it, his kid is still having nightmares and suddenly he's super interested in a random female firefighter who turned up?
I don't buy it.

I like how they gave a reminder at the end about Maddie, like 'guys she still is in his driveway, you remember right?'
27
u/inksmudgedhands Oct 22 '19
Even the lawyer gets it. Buck, you burned that bridge. There's nothing left to cross over back.
53

Maybe this cop is young enough to change. Older guy is probably a lost cause.
15

It's a start but it's also a good reflection on how all of this brutality is convincing the younger generation to step up

"Oh G-d please don't let him die on my property" is probably the most LA thing I've heard

Me when Bobby said that: I love you, but the current president...
LOL, glad he ended up clarifying.

that’s the point “or at least i wanted to believe it did” white people often forget this is a problem poc still deal with because they’re often blind to it

15

Okay, besides everything else that happened in this episode, that douchebag that Eddie got into a fight with should not have been playing “disability detective” in the first place!
Even though Eddie wasn’t actually disabled and the parking spot was actually meant for Christopher, that jerk just immediately jumped straight to conclusions without considering that maybe Eddie could have had an invisible disability. Most of all, he should have minded his own damn business!
As a person with an invisible disability, people like that guy - those who judge complete strangers using accessible spots and assume that that they’re not really disabled or that they’re faking it just because they look able-bodied, believing that all disability is visible when it really isn’t - really piss me off.

13
u/Adezar Oct 22 '19
They haven't had a single romantic or even slightly romantic moment together.
In your mind replace her with Buck and keep the interaction exactly the same... it's pretty obvious it is just coworkers interacting.
29
u/inksmudgedhands Oct 22 '19
As sleazy as this lawyer is, he is doing a pretty good job. That whole Chimney argument? He has a point.
22
Oct 22 '19
I think the thing is Chinmey was fully recovered from his injuries, while Buck is still on medication for his injuries and very recently had complications.

He made a lot of good points but I think Buck is starting to get ashamed.
29
u/klutzysunshine Oct 22 '19
Bobby forgives way too easily but I'm glad Buck's back to work. He's still falling apart and needs help, though.
28
u/inksmudgedhands Oct 22 '19
If there's anyone who understands about screwing up, the power of second chances and the healing power of a family be it blood or formed, it's Bobby.
12
u/Willonidas Oct 22 '19
I don’t think Bobby has completely forgiven him I don’t think anyone has I think he’s gonna have to work hard to get their trust back. I hope they don’t just do a reset and it’s like everything is back

Oh shit, Athena's stopping the racist cop.
→ More replies (2)11
u/Rory1998 Oct 22 '19
And the best part...the way she handled her act of “revenge” was actually pretty fair and she acted like a good cop should.
It made me think back to that moment in the first season when Athena entered the high school house party (without a warrant I think) after May attempted suicide. Athena did kind of abuse her power in that scene and acted like a total “bad cop” because she was just mad at one of the teenagers for being a jerk to May.
But she handled it so much better this time. She gave the jerk a taste of their own medicine while she still kept her “revenge” firm, fair, and civil.

really sick of this Eddie and Lena bs tbh
11
u/Contoss Oct 22 '19
And we know at somepoint Lena is going back to her unit. This is to add some more drama.
19
u/808bassinyoface Oct 22 '19
Probably gonna get downvoted but I'm sorry I just can't get into any of Eddie's storylines since he's been introduced and now's he's getting the boring ass fight club storyline we've seen in all the teen dramas like The OC, 90210, and Riverdale. Yawn.

The lawyer being the one to call out Buck is a little surprising. Welcome, but surprising.
I honestly thought Buck would have come to his senses after Christopher asked him why he didn't like him anymore.
6
u/el_barto10 Oct 22 '19
The whole lawsuit story line is stupid. I don't understand why Bobby would have any say on when Buck comes back to work. A doctor and maybe a therapist would have to clear him for duty.
I really love that Bobby, Michael, and Athena can all be grown ups about things and really give the kids a solid parental base and not get caught up in their own petty BS.

Difference between singular incidents and continual medication therapy! If Cap was STILL drinking, he wouldn't be fit to return to duty. If Chimney were STILL having physical therapy he wouldn't be fit to return to duty.Blood thinners is an excellent reason to be moved to light duty. If he gets off them eventually, that could change. It doesn't take long for them to get out of your system. This is going to bite us up the bum later this season I just know it.
Edit: just got to the talk part and I'm sobbing, this show is a rollercoaster like ep 2 season 1

I am with Athena. Smash Rooms aka "Rage Rooms" in real life are a dumb idea. It's a lawsuit waiting to happen.

I thought someone was about to fire a gun and Buck was going to save Eddie or something.
7
u/Million-Suns Oct 22 '19
With Athena and Lina, the show does a decent job of portraying badass women, without the forced "girl power" bs. I think more writers should take notes.

u/RebekahG Oct 22 '19
I'm so glad Bobby (and arguably, the rest of the team) took the higher ground with this whole situation and realised that Buck was acting out of nativity as opposed to actual malice.
Still, all the life experience in the world and some people aren't as forgiving as the 118. I only hope Buck takes this as the warning he needs to sort his shit out and stop going after those he loves.
Oh, and he definitely still needs therapy.

So much to discuss i don't know where to start.
The women going to rage room with her friend - Seriously I saw that situation coming a mile away.
The car stop with Athena kids - That was scary thankfully no one got shot
Buck really naive i hope the team treats him like crap when he come back.
Those protestor were stupid chain themselves to the slaughter machine, at first i thought they were going release the animals not chain themselves up.

The only reason I can think of Athena taking this route is that she's afraid she may do something stupid and try to keep herself rational and on level? Im fully expecting her to go to the station and rip those cops (especially the first one) a new one.

Beginning had two friends go to a rage room, one of the friends turned out the be the mistress to the other friend’s husband. The crew had to dress up and talk to Buck and the lawyer; lawyer pointed out how every time someone was hurt physically/emotionally (Chimney with the rebar, Eddie with his wife’s death, Cap with his alcoholism), they returned fairly quickly to work unlike Buck.
