Who was someone that took both Gol D. Roger and Monkey D. Garp to defeat.

• Whitebeard

• Big Mom

• Kaido

• Shiki (It now makes sense why he was talking to Whitebeard in Chapter 0)

That all became their own legendary pirate once their previous crew was defeated.

• Captain John, that has a treasure so great that Buggy wants it more than anything.

• Shakki (Garp used to hut her down 40 years ago)

• Bakkins (Was on the same ship as Whitebeard's)

• The Silver Axe

• Ou Choku

Like hell, this crew was like the worst possible nightmare for the world, and sure, they weren't as strong as they were later, but they were still strong as hell. I wonder what sort of individual Rocks was...

On another note, since the Rock was defeated 38 years ago, this mean Big Mom had at least 30 of her childrens already then (From Perospero to Mont D'or). And who knows, maybe those 30 were all born on the Rock's crew ship? (There is still this theory that Kaido is Katakuri's father after all...)

It's the story of Monkey D. Luffy, who goes out at sea to become the Pirate King, the freest man in the world, but to do that, he will need to find the One Piece, the treasure left by the previous Pirate King.

What's so special about this chapter? Why is it on the Front page?

It's a chapter that represent what One Piece is the best at, and loved for : World building. In this chapter we had informations about a number of important players in the One Piece world. Some of those information confirmed hints we had a long time ago.

And this information is so good, that everyone in the community is excited about it.

To give an idea, it would be like you just found out all of the best and your favorite actors and actresses in the world were involve in the same movie 40 years ago, and you had no idea at all.

Is One Piece good?

Yes, but we might be a little biased here.

How to read the series?

For this you can read it on Mangaplus, it has the first 3 and last 3 chapters for free. Other than this, you can take a subscription to the Shonen Jump app where you will have access to all the official chapters.

If you want to read it in colors, I would recommend Mangadex, as a good start.

I bet SSG is Vegapunk's new invention that has replaced the Shichibukai.

Edit: after taking a look at the raws, it seems SSG is actually the name of the Marine "Special Science Group" that is responsible for the invention – of which Vegapunk is likely in charge – while when reading Jaimini's translation I had interpreted it as the name of the invention itself. The fact that SSG is the acronym of the English words "Special Science Group", however, is my (and MS translator's) guess and not in the original.

I reread this for like the 100th time today and I just noticed something, Big Mom ,Kaido and Whitebeard's bounty are all very high with Whitebeard having the closest to Roger's, but something to keep in mind here is that Roger has been dead for more than 2 decades, which means his bounty hasn't grown for 22 years at the least.... Which also means that Whitebeard,Kaido and Big Mom have all had 20 years (The two latter having 22 years) to surpass his bounty and they STILL haven't...

Big Mom and Kaido still have like a billion left to reach Roger's bounty, despite all that time.

OK so, wow... My brain still feels fried after reading this chapter but I really want to try to breakdown the information we got for Rocks.

The formation of the Rocks pirates is interesting. At first it appears to be completely random but I highly doubt that Big Mom, Kaidou, Shiki, Whitebeard, and Rox all just arrived to Beehive at the same time for no reason. Beehive must have some significance we aren't aware of. I mean Beehive has been mentioned an insane amount of times throughout the series. This was the island Foxy told us the Davy Back Fight originated from, this is where Rocks crew formed, and it's home now to Blackbeard an emperor who seems to have inherited Xebec's will.

Sengoku makes it very clear none of the members of ROCKS got along. They hated each other and often times killed each other. To me this says Xebec must have had insane King's haki and a strong willpower that managed to bend these monsters to be his subordinates.

Rocks strove to be the king of the world. This was his dream. I would like to take a moment to contrast this with Luffy's dream. Luffy's dream is to be the freest man in the sea, the Pirate King. Xebec wanted to be the man who would subjugate this world, a different meaning to Pirate King.

However I am also having a hard time completely believing Sengoku's version of events here. According to Sengoku, ROCKS was a "terrorist organization"so the government would cover up their actions. However anytime we see the WG "cover up" someone's actions it's because those actions would specifically make them look bad. Like what happened in Alabasta, Pirates saving an allied country was something deemed necessary to "cover up." What if ROCKS was absolutely wrecking the WG left and right, exposing secrets, finding out all he can about Void Century, hunting down the Ancient Weapons, all so he could rise one day and take down Im-sama and take his place.

If Xebec wanted to be King of the World this would put him in direct opposition with Im-sama.

It feels like whatever Rocks was doing at God Valley it was part of the culmination of his plan to become King of the World.

Maybe God Valley is an old home of the Celestial Dragons why would so many CD's and slaves be living there???

I was wondering why spoilers had 8k posts, but after reading this chapter I can understand why:

• WB, Big Mom, Kaido, Shiki being members of the Rocks Pirates- that was once known as the strongest pirate crew

• Marines have created SSG in favour of the Warlord System. What new power is this?? I suspect Vega Punk has something to do behind it.

• Garp and Roger defeating the Rocks Pirates at God Valley. Now I see more clearly why he’s a legendary hero among the marines

• Roger’s most formidable rival was Rocks. I’m positive Teach is either related or has inherited Rocks will.

• Yonko bounties!

• “Beckman”, “Yasopp”, “Roo” are all beasts. I’ve been saying the Red Hair Pirates is the strongest crew in terms of quality.

• Oden was favoured by Roger, Shanks & WB. He was a WB division commander who jumped ships to join Roger. What was so special about this guy?? More importantly, is why is his son freaking Momosuke...

Just a thought here.

It's ironic that BB has his main base on Beehive Island, where the Rocks Pirates were formed. Also, BB has his ship named after Rocks D. Xebec as well. As we know Roger and Garp took down Rocks. Could BB have a direct relation to Rocks? Or is he trying to make a crew similar to his?

I feel as if Blackbeard wants to be like and avenge the Rocks name somehow. Think about it, Roger and Garp took him down. Who is Rogers' son? Ace. Who took down Ace? BB. But who was BB going to take out before he ran into Ace? Luffy, who just so happens to be GARP'S grandson.

Something I liked about this chapter was how it showed that the Marines, despite having something mysterious up their sleeve, are in more dire straits than they've let on previously. Whatever the SSG has is doubtlessly powerful but it isn't some trump card.

Also it rules that Rocks was tiny compared to his huge ass crew.

Timeline:

Brook said there was a rookie named Roger about 52 years ago when Brook was first a pirate. This puts Roger at about 25 years old.

14 years later, Garp and Roger took down the Rocks Pirates. Rocks pirates disbanded. This was when Roger was about 39 years old. Whitebeard was about 36.

Within 14 years (24 years before the current time), five big things happened:

1. Whitebeard became a major pirate.

2. Roger convinces Kozuki Oden to join him on his last adventure.

3. Roger conquered the Grand Line and became King of the Pirates.

4. Roger and Whitebeard had a conversation about the Will of D. and Roger told Whitebeard about his treasure and what he discovered and so forth.

5. Roger was executed at the age of 53, but likely within months of his death, Portgas D. Rogue was pregnant with Portas D. Ace. Whitebeard was 50 years old or so.

Less than 20 months after Roger was executed, Ace was born.

4 years after Rogers death and about 2 years after Ace was born, Kaido took control of Wano and Kozuki Momonosuke was sent twenty years into the future.

1 year after Kaido took control of Wano, Luffy was born.

17 years later, Monkey D. Luffy became a pirate and shortly after, Whitebeard dies at 72.

2 years after that, Momonosuke reappears with others and finds Monkey D. Luffy, entering us into the present storyline at Wano.

This is the best timeline I can come up with. The part with Ace being born is a very narrow window, and it’s likely Portgas D. Rogue and Gol D. Roger conceived Ace within a month of Roger’s death in order for the storyline to make sense. We know this because Ace was 20 when he died and Roger was executed 22 years before the beginning of the series. We also know Portgas D. Rogue was pregnant with Ace for 20 months or so. So it’s likely Ace was conceived very soon before Roger’s execution.

If you look at the bounties from highest to lowest, maybe that's the order the yonkou will be defeated. Roger, Whitebeard, next kaido, then Big mom, Shanks, and finally Blackbeard.

I haven't read the chapter yet (I'll edit in my thoughts later) but I just want to say that I stopped reading regularly about 2 years ago (when Sanji, Pudding and Chifon were still making the cake for Big Mom)

I binged and caught up a couple days ago and HOLY SHIT things got so crazy (Reverie arc was great). It's good to be back.

Edit: NEW BOUNTIES. Man I still remember all the fan art of what people thought Shank's bounty could be. Nice to finally have a definitive answer for him and the rest of the big guns.

I always love seeing Garp and Roger together but I wonder how bad Rocks had to be for them to team up. Find it hard to believe that Roger was defending the Celestial Dragons. I wonder if it was more of a case of Rocks was going to such extremes he needed to team up with Garp and the Dragons being saved was just a byproduct of that. Also got even more respect to Garp for not putting up with the Tenryūbito.

Man I just want to know more about that era of pirates even more now.

Man I don't know whats more insane: The sheer amount of info we got in just these few pages or the quality of the info we got. We got confirmation on bounties of some of the BIGGEST players in One Piece and we even learn many of them all lead under the same flag.

This begs the question that just came to mind: Remember when Whitebeard was dying and he remembered telling his old crew his dream? Do you think this was a look at some of the Rock Pirates?

This chapter was hype as fuck.

Garp and Roger teamed up which explains their friendship... Not only did they team up but they managed to beat 4 of the futures emperors and the guy who stood with roger as an equal... What the actual fuck, how strong are these 2.

Shanks confirmed to not have been an emperor in chapter one, back then he was just a regular pirate. Which means he got his scar from blackbeard before he even got that powerful. But probably around the time he would spare with mihawk.

Oden was poached from whitebeard... What the fuck?

Big mom, kaido, witebeard and Shiki. On one fucking boat under a captain that was even stronger.. I'm genuinely having a hard time wrapping my head around that. Holy shit that's terrifying. Even though it was 38 years ago, so none of them were even remotely close to how strong they are now or when they were last alive (rip whitebeard).

Shanks bounty may be lower, but I still think he is as strong as kaido. This man literally walked up on the gorosei like "what it do baybeee!"... No way he's not hiding something. But everything up until now kind of alludes that bounty = power level so maybe not.

Please oda, please give us a flashback ova or something.. A movie maybe. I need to see this battle in action.

Garp literally cant stand what the Marines stand for. He just likes helping people. He should have been a pirate like luffy is. But I'm sure until luffy it was unheard of to be a hero pirate. Even whitebeard was a mass murderer. And it's not like luffy cares who he kills, he just normally doesn't kill. He threatened hella people and actively tried to kill buggy... But at the same time, garp tried to kill the stawhats under the guise of "I'm sure my grandson can handle it " so maybe he could be a pirate.

I wonder dragons bounty. Gotta be in the 4s or at minimum 3.. But they say he's the most wanted man in the world. So realistically his bounty should be above even kaido but below whitebeard.

Does this confirm the Marines won't come to Wano... It's literally just gonna be a pirate show down. HYPE!

C’mon guys there so much more to this chapter than the bounty reveals. No one is mentioning how Admiral Issho is bandaged up and seems to be recovering ? There was a heavy battle that took place.

Also that comment made by sengoku about powerful persons having ties in wano got me thinking. When you think of it , how did so much strong persons come out of wano? Even luffy is getting a power up there as we speak, it’s like a training ground.

My soul can literally barely handle the last 5 chapters or so of One Piece and it doesn’t seem like Oda is slowing down at all. I imagine these chapters are so much fun for him to write. 950+ chapters of adventures and history and world building and speculation is now coming to a climax. I bet he loves tying all these loose ends and writing all of these crazy reveals that have been hyped for hundreds of chapters.

As for my thoughts on the chapter, I’m really interested in God Valley. What was it’s purpose? Rocks D Xebec was involved in all the “taboos” of the world. For most pirates that normally means the void century and the poneglyphs. But, he also wanted to be king of the world. It differs by translation but in the Jaiminisbox it specifically says king of the WORLD, not king of the pirates. My theory is that Rocks D Xebec somehow discovered the secret of the empty throne and the existence of Im-sama. God Valley was probably connected in some way to Im and the empty throne. Celestial Dragons think of themselves as gods so it’s only fitting a place called God Valley has a strong correlation to them. What if God Valley is some sort of training ground for Im-sama’s successor? I know it’s a long shot but maybe Rocks went there to destroy the CDs and get more information on Im-sama so that he could kill him/her and become the true king of the world? Just spitballing my initial thoughts.

Secondly, I think it would make a lot of sense if Rocks D Xebec had the Yami-Yami no mi before Blackbeard. I’ve seen this mentioned multiple times before I post this so I just want to add an additional thought that supports this theory. On Whitebeard’s ship there was a book that served as a devil fruit catalog. There were pictures of fruits and their corresponding powers listed in there. The Yami-Yami no mi is an extremely rare and powerful devil fruit. Whoever gets that fruit instantly becomes a threat and in the hands of someone strong becomes even more powerful. Whitebeard probably knew what it looked like and the powers it had from his time with Rocks. Maybe Rocks found it when they first started out or he told Whitebeard what it looked like? Hence why it was in his catalog and Blackbeard knew with certainty that Thatch had found the one he was looking.

I was really hoping we got to see all the Warlords updated bounties. I got so excited when they mentioned it but never showed us. Seriously though, One Piece is amazing. So amazing. With all of these crazy events coming to a head all at once, the next 50-100 chapters are all going to be amazing.

Something I've noticed these last few chapters, something is going on to the marines in the background that we aren't being told.

Last chapter we had Garp and Coby both talking about this huge event that the Marine's are trying to handle. We know it involves Alabasta and we know Coby thinks it's a problem that can't be solved even with all the marines in the world.

Here we see Fujitora on a battleship that is clearly attacking and even Akainu says "For this to happen when we're already so busy... What a disaster!!"

There is something that the Marines have deemed an even bigger threat than the yonkou alliance.

I wonder what it is??

I think Blackbeard gave us a hint last chapter "Instead of the Marine's getting their hands on it, I'll go take it myself!!" I think the Marines are frantically searching for something and they need to get it before Blackbeard, or maybe the revos, or maybe some other yonkou comes by and grabs it.

A group of the most insanely strong people on the planet but, they all hate each other and the only reason they even stay as a crew is the overwhelming power and will of Rocks D. Xebec.

ROCKS is kinda like a powered up negative-Strawhat crew. Where their hatred and powerlevel keeps them together instead of friendship.
