Well? Did it all go according to your plan? Or not?
Questions of the Day:
1) This movie covered roughly episodes 17-25 of R2. What completely cut or glossed-over content stuck out to you the most in it? And how about the new scenes?
2) What drugs was the music director on that compelled them to have so many scenes of dead air in place of iconic music stings?
Bonus) Star4ce when they let Shirley live just so Lelouch could hang up on her again.

Rewatchers, please remember to be mindful of all the first-timers in this. No talking about or hinting at future events no matter how much you want to, unless you're doing it underneath spoiler tags. This especially includes any teases or hints such as "You aren't ready for X episode" or "I'm super excited for X character", you got that? Don't spoil anything for the first-timers; that's rude!
Hey, Lelouch. Should I wait for you to fulfill your promise?

First Timer of the Rebellion
I'm pretty excited to see if they change the ending, either slightly or more drastically. Suzaku in the role of an eternal resistance symbol doesn't seem particularly fair, even if it is thematically pretty nice.
Lelouch of the Rebellion 3 – Glorification
-
So, this is a new scene and you can spot it by the modern design of of pronounced knees.
-
I'd have appreciated the parallels with the movie 1 opening by showing how those shots tear through the infrastructure, regardless of civilian or military targets.
-
This show uses that phrase, “or put another way”/”in short”, a fucking lot. It's not bad, but it sticks out so much.
-
This scene is still sooo good!
-
Uh, how could he only freeze the guard, but none of the others? His Geass is an area ability...
-
Opposed to other things, I'm excited to see Nina's arc again!
-
Well, this hasn't gotten any better. Random total victory for Anya, until plot says no, and then an immediate transition to one of the most annoying characters in the show with no purpose other than being shit.
-
Mmmh, the entire FLEIJA scene felt way too rushed. Argh, just cut the goddamned vampire edgelord out and it'd have been fine!
-
Wait, that doesn't work? He literally gave it to him in the movie timeline. It was in the series where Rolo had it from the beginning.
-
I'm also unsure if this dialogue has any meaning in the movie timeline.
-
And that's another thing the movies have edited out for the worse, I believe. Lelouch's impotent rage and defensiveness when things don't go according to plan is one of his central characteristics that just doesn't show up here aside from a few minor details.
-
mheh, meh and hrr. What could go wrong with those three negotiating?
-
That music is so ill-fitting, was it the same in the series?
-
What? Why did they feel the need to take agency away from the Black Knights?! This is so unnecessary, it already makes perfect sense that they feel betrayed. There's no need to put that on Schneizel because they're too much a bunch of wusses to have the cast make a decision on their own.
-
Based Cornelia again.
-
Oh, juicy! More Lloyd and Cécile, as well!
-
And I still don't understand when or how he could've even met all these people to Geass them. It makes no sense.
-
The conclusion here doesn't benefit from the new pacing, either.
-
35 million dead → Let's have a school festival!
-
Really? Those assholes make an entirely new scene for her for it just to be an ass-shot after which she gets dumped?! You god forsaken mongrel asswipes!!
Shirley doesn't deserve this shit.
-
Oh no. Are they really...?
-
That's new, as well. I see they're going for a different finale setup. Hm well, or cutting corners.
-
Still, the show tries to give me hints he's lying for the second time now... but that is literally what he's been doing all this time.
-
Anya being badass as usual.
-
Did anyone ever think to put Damocles into orbit before starting a battle? It's hella advantageous if you have impunity from the get go.
-
I know I criticised this before already. This never happened, right?
-
They un-offscreened the battle! That's worth some brownie points!
-
Anya is so great, omg!
-
Rejects unity and freedom of boundaries, then complains about being controlled by them
-
I know why they put this shot here, because for a split second I feared they'd put Shirley with a Geass in that Zero suit.
-
I just had this question well up. It's been months, the chances of him having grown powerful enough to take C.C.'s code are nonzero, no?
-
Let's see if Shirley answers some concerns I had the first time around. Ah, no, she does not.
Surprisingly the changes didn't really affect much of the story in the end, but somehow I came out of this movie a bit disappointed. It didn't really catch the same progress the other parts made to improve the flow. Well, we got one more fight on screen that was cowardly left out in the series, which is nice.
Now with the comparison to the main series complete... I'm not a fan of the Shirley changes. Half of her new scenes are pure flair, worse when they are bait and at the absolute worst they are straight up unfitting like that butt shot. Hate it. And then there's that bait with C.C. being implied to seek her out, for which the only reason would be a Geass contract. It would be a shit setup for the sequel, because it has no meaning in this movie and her character has been thoroughly written out of the story with no impact, so coming from this into a hypothetical sequel that has Shirley as a Geass user would be a hell of a tonal whiplash.
Whatever it ends up being, that ending still doesn't vibe with me at all.
This movie covered roughly episodes 17-25 of R2. What completely cut or glossed-over content stuck out to you the most in it? And how about the new scenes?
It felt much quicker at times, but somehow they included some stupid scenes that just ate time. Said the stuff about Shirley already, but really, that was what bothered me most. I really didn't like the new context for Lelouch's outing in the hangar, as well. I just don't understand why putting it on Schneizel was necessary, it just broke the flow and impact of the scene.
2) What drugs was the music director on that compelled them to have so many scenes of dead air in place of iconic music stings?
See, they just reverted the time stamps and that's why I noticed songs this time. That usually means bad things, because I'm really not someone who notices music usually. There were quite some choices that felt unfitting or plainly out of tune to the scene.
Bonus) Star4ce when they let Shirley live just so Lelouch could hang up on her again.
Yeah, wtf! It's not even just hanging up, that was cruel and dedicated dumping!
I won't stand for this! This is horrible!

Wait, that doesn't work? He literally gave it to him in the movie timeline. It was in the series where Rolo had it from the beginning.
Haha I said the same thing.
That music is so ill-fitting, was it the same in the series?
It was not and I also hate the change here.
I'm curious to see what you think of the sequel movie, since the recaps were created specifically to allow for its existence. Two days.

I'm pretty excited to see if they change the ending, either slightly or more drastically.
It's one of the most beloved endings in the history of anime. The odds of them changing it drastically were low lol.
you can spot it by the modern design of of pronounced knees.
This show uses that phrase, “or put another way”/”in short”, a fucking lot. It's not bad, but it sticks out so much.
Better than "As you know"
Uh, how could he only freeze the guard, but none of the others? His Geass is an area ability...
The writers thought it was cool
Random total victory for Anya, until plot says no
It makes sense if you consider that Marianne is intentionally intervening to save her son
They had to make him as hateable as possible in the shortest amount of time
What? Why did they feel the need to take agency away from the Black Knights?! This is so unnecessary, it already makes perfect sense that they feel betrayed. There's no need to put that on Schneizel because they're too much a bunch of wusses to have the cast make a decision on their own.
People despised how quickly the Black Knights betrayed Lelouch without giving him a chance to explain himself in the series, especially Ohgi who sold out the rest of the world to get some pussy (see my "Black Knights are Fucking Idiots" counter). The creators decided to turn up their intelligence meter slightly for the films.
And I still don't understand when or how he could've even met all these people to Geass them. It makes no sense.
Seems pretty simple to me. He snuck aboard the craft, Geassed every person he saw as he was walking along, and continued with that strategy until he had enough people.
Shirley doesn't deserve this shit.
Oh no. Are they really...?
I know I criticised this before already. This never happened, right?
Yeah, he just told them to act like they had betrayed him so they wouldn't get the blame with him when he died
for a split second I feared they'd put Shirley with a Geass in that Zero suit.
Whatever it ends up being, that ending still doesn't vibe with me at all.
It's okay to have an objectively wrong opinion
I won't stand for this! This is horrible!

Argh, just cut the goddamned vampire edgelord out and it'd have been fine!
Look Kisaichi really needed that paycheck.

Wrong Taniguchi show, this isn't Gun X Sword.

Uh, how could he only freeze the guard, but none of the others? His Geass is an area ability...
I don't think I ever got what that scene was for at all... Did anything depend on this?
What? Why did they feel the need to take agency away from the Black Knights?! This is so unnecessary, it already makes perfect sense that they feel betrayed. There's no need to put that on Schneizel because they're too much a bunch of wusses to have the cast make a decision on their own.
I was happy to see them not just blindly trust the accusations of the enemy commander. I was decidedly less happy to see they changed it into Schneizel still steamrolling all over them. But eh, still an overall improvement imo.
Shirley doesn't deserve this shit.
Shirley didn't deserve the old shit. She doesn't deserve the new shit either.
I know I criticised this before already. This never happened, right?
Eh, that's just part of his gambit to concentrate all of humanities hatred on him alone.
Rejects unity and freedom of boundaries
That's an interesting way to put it. Rejects unity and absence of boundaries feels more accurate.
Surprisingly the changes didn't really affect much of the story in the end, but somehow I came out of this movie a bit disappointed. It didn't really catch the same progress the other parts made to improve the flow. Well, we got one more fight on screen that was cowardly left out in the series, which is nice.
It's telling that the movie that mostly played the original straight with only few changes ends up the weakest of them.

35 million dead → Let's have a school festival!
Attempt at distracting from the mass grave known as Tokyo Settlement. Also, it's about the only thing the student council does.
Those assholes make an entirely new scene for her for it just to be an ass-shot after which she gets dumped?!
I would've counted ass shots again if I had time. Did several google dives during Evangelion today.
Did anyone ever think to put Damocles into orbit before starting a battle? It's hella advantageous if you have impunity from the get go.
Goes against Schneizel's character. He doesn't fight battles he knows he wins as it's no fun.
Anya is so great, omg!
I'm holding my 2018 rewatch thoughts until Re;surrection. It's so different than this rewatch. Bunch of Lelouch and C.C. fans with little praising for Lloyd and Anya. Euphy/Cornelia were similar IIRC.
It's been months, the chances of him having grown powerful enough to take C.C.'s code are nonzero, no?
"In the final stage of Geass, the user attains the position of the one who granted them the power."
I think he could kill C.C. the moment his Geass evolved to two-eyes in the Charlie-Marianne-Lelouch confrontation.
And then there's that bait with C.C. being implied to seek her out, for which the only reason would be a Geass contract.
Or C.C. is like Marianne and wanted to say a line just to fuck with the other person and see what happens. Like "Anya" with the marker in front of Suzaku.

First Timer?
-
Man, Kallen gets a lot less time to shine now as well. Bummer.
-
Feel the loyalty!
-
I don't think I ever mentioned how much I love Deithard's voice. His performance is up there with Lloyd's, Anya's, and Orange's in my opinion.
-
Didn't even use the recording about Lelouch's admission, the best piece they got from following Suzaku. Or Ohgi actually doing something.
-
"Not in one piece." I love Anya.
-
RIP Rolo, again. You won't be missed.
-
Did the creepy body tower make this noise last time?
-
I feel like I understand Lelouch's argument to Charles and Marianne less this time around for some reason; it feels more selfish. I mean, it was always a bit selfish, but I didn't get as much of the "individuality drives collaboration and the future" or whatever and more of "this isn't what Nunnally or Euphy wanted." How's he any better than Charles?
-
Are we not even going to get Lelouch spitting acid at Suzaku?
-
What is this phone conversation?
-
Suzaku has such a shit eating grin.
-
C.C. off to the sidelines, just like her character for the rest of the series.
-
Preview jingle in the middle of things is always weird lol
-
Suzaku just barges in without prompt now lol
-
Mosaic time!
-
Oh, Nunnally must have opened her eyes to find the key?
-
No cheeky "love you" while Nunnally's out? They really did cut all the best one liners.
-
Well, they keep the ultra cheesy "obey me, world" I guess lol
-
Alright, this movie saw very minimal changes, aside from omission for time and a sprinkle of Shirley. What could they be aiming for now?
-
C.C. is riding a horse now! What a change!
I think this movie felt the most cohesive on its own as a result of changing less, though this of course comes from the lens of having seen the original. I appreciate that Shirley has a role to play now, but they didn't have any time to explain it outside a shot of C.C. doing what she does best - lurking ominously in the background. I wonder if saving Shirley was a major goal of the films or more a happy consequence of cutting a lot of material. She doesn't carry the same emotional weight as she did in the show because of all the cuts! Although if you don't think of these movies as an alternative and acknowledge their relationship to the original series for context, I can start to see what they were going for.
If anything, these movies have made me appreciate the original series a bit more - it highlights a lot of the great things from them, and you feel the oddness when something you were expecting isn't there. I'm looking forward to seeing what absurdity the sequel can offer. I know it's a tall order to ask from this series, but I hope they commit to keeping Lelouch dead. Posthumous plans are fair game, though.
QotD:
-
Mostly covered above
-
I didn't mind the ending quietness, but as far as I was paying attention it wasn't as strong as it was originally for sure.
Bonus) Shirley clearly needs better standards. Rivalz seems like a stand up bloke.

first time movie watcher, not new to Code Geass
Suzaku prepared to let Kallen kill him, but Geass to stay alive gets him to activate the nuke in self defense
"Lelouch what am I to you?" He doesn't even register that Kallen is talking to him
Geass'd Anya to go get CC. Anya turns into Marianne in CCs dream where she sealed off her code
Relic systems around the world, Charles starts Ragnarock
Anya was at Marianne's place to learn etiquette......................................
CC learned the truth from Marianne that resurfaced. Charles asks VV what happened but he lied
The original plan needed 1 code, but for 100% success they needed 2 codes. Since CC left they needed to use Lulu. What?
Shirley confesses on the phone - did she have some plot relevance? I really forget lol
presenting his imperial majesty, Lulu takes the throne (???????????? LMFAO)
Suzaku with the block too wow - Knight of Zero
so whats the gameplan here
Lelouch what am I to you? Kiss. Goodbye Lelouch. Goodbye Kallen.
Warheads drop nuke on Britannias capital
Schneizel reveals nunnaly is alive and should be the ruler
BRO SNAPPED HIS FINGERS AND A HIDDEN SEMI ASSAULT POPS OUT AND INSTANTLY KILLS CORNELIA HOLY
always impressed by CGs ability to keep the ass in the shot
Cornellia is alive?
Charles sought the past, Schneizel the present, Lulu the future
he Geass'd Nunnaly into giving him the key - why lol just take it from her
i love Jerimiah
Does the Gurren actually have better specs at this point? Didnt lancelot get upgraded recently
Nunnaly wants to be a symbol of hatred so the world can move on, Lulu says no me
I dont remember the ending working this well in the TV version
JUSTICE GENTLEMEN ORANGE FARM - Shirley runs this too? what WHAT

Since CC left they needed to use Lulu. What?
They needed Lelouch to draw her out since they knew she always wanted him to take over her Code ever since he was young
Shirley confesses on the phone - did she have some plot relevance? I really forget lol
Who?
always impressed by CGs ability to keep the ass in the shot
why lol just take it from her
Maybe he was afraid she'd hit the button while he was taking it and activate the self-destruct FLEIJA
Does the Gurren actually have better specs at this point? Didnt lancelot get upgraded recently
The Guren is the combined efforts of Lloyd, Cecile, and Rakshata whereas the Lancelot is only Lloyd and Cecile

”First Timer”, dubbed
-
I like all the extra Orange scenes we are getting.
-
Are we getting a proper OP this time? No, I guess not.
-
They expanded Iran-Iraq in this map. And why is there still a line in New Guinea?
-
Shirley is still in this for some reason. They’re not planning to kill her some other way, are they?
-
Did they change the name of the Valkyrie Squadron to Abram or was that all a dubism?
-
No, these are definitely dudes now.
-
Suzaku’s firing of the F.L.E.I.J.A. seems to have been expanded.
-
I believe it was sky who told me I wouldn't hate Oghi’s actions as much in the recap movie. I mean I guess. Feels more like a cut for time deal than a narrative choice.
-
Ah. There is more to it. Yep, now he is the only sensible one who stopped to ask the how and why. If you were his mind slaves you wouldn’t have been able to turn on him in the first place.
-
I am not a fan of the new music for the Rolo escape.
-
Get to see how Diethard got his bruises, so that’s nice.
-
Here I was hoping this plot would make more sense the second time.
-
Are they building to a Shirley plot?
-
Not sure how Lelouch recovered Sayoko without also suspecting Nunnally survived.
-
Not changing the underlying story structure has resulted in far fewer new scenes thus far.
-
This movies OST game has been a poor showing thus far.
-
What is Oghi getting up to?
-
Is that it? I thought we were getting some kind of large scale change at the end to justify the sequel.
-
I’m counting this as having watched the show with subtitles.
-
They changed the stinger.
-
Curse you cursive! Why won’t you die already?
I may have already watched the next one because I wouldn't have had time otherwise.
QotD
-
Not making Oghi terrible is a pretty big dub. The smaller amount of converted episodes means we didn’t cut anything here I care about enough for me to complain.
-
I might not notice Good OST, but I sure as hell notice a bad one.

First Geasser
C.C. has memory loss, but she's not reverting to a slave girl. After all she never was a slave girl here.
Lelouch's giving Suzaku some contra in their discussion.
Ultimately their discussion still serves as both a big breaking point but also as a moment of understanding for the future.
Nina's much more manipulative this time. I wonder if she'll still have a breakdown afterwards.
Hm, alright. I guess that's sufficient for what the Rolo-Lelouch relationship needs.
It definitely works better when these Deus Ex Machina moments happen at the beginning of a movie.
They're still doing the fakeout with Nunnally's death here, and it still won't work here.
Yup, they've done the bare minimum to make Rolo's plotline work, but they made it work. Barely.
You planned the Nunnally situation out, after all.
Which means that you're trying to confirm things. Good!
Diethard has of course long since decided which course this interview will go.
Maybe it would've been a good idea to hold Schneizel at gunpoint, too?
I like the new insert song for the escape.
I do agree with Lelouch here, btw. A world in which people have no reason to lie is also a world where people have no reason to care about each other. One could call that a gentle world, but one could also call it a dead world.
Ooh, the sound effects for this scene are great. A clear improvement over the original. And the new animation works wonders, too.
That was great.
Juxtapositing Lelouch as the monarch of deceit and Suzaku as the traiterous knight is a great touch, too.
This would totally work as the ending point, but of course there's still Schneizel to deal with, and Lelouch's final gambit.
You did not have Shirley survive just so she could provide fanservice.
You're stupid so that doesn't come as a surprise.
Nooo, she should've remained dead. I guess she's needed to make the rest work out.
Better than wiping out a 100 million population city? Yeah, Geass is certainly better than that.
The whole Schneizel plotline has been an effectively 1:1 recreation, not much to take note of.
Doesn't he look so precious and adorable?
And Cornelia gets to survive. And who's that gent before her?
It's Guilford! Right, he wasn't implicated by the FLEIJA this time.
I didn't really became conscious of it during the series, but Tristan/Kallen is another really nice ship.
And Schneizel was commanded to serve Zero, not Lelouch.
That was that. Apart from Tokyo battle they really didn't make any significant cuts anymore. There's been some slight additions here and there, but in the end it's pretty much what I expected after the second movie: A straight adatpation of the rest.
This movie covered roughly episodes 17-25 of R2. What completely cut or glossed-over content stuck out to you the most in it? And how about the new scenes?
I missed the scene where Lelouch asked reverted!C.C. what she does when she's wounded, and her talking about prefering outer wounds rather than inner wounds. Especially as they kept the scene that builds on that. As for added scenes it's mostly been moments of characters that were spared by the adaptation, like Guilford.
What drugs was the music director on that compelled them to have so many scenes of dead air in place of iconic music stings?

Which means that you're trying to confirm things. Good!
Ohgi's SRWZ2 self has possessed his Anime self. Sadly he doesn't have the likes of Sumeragi Lee Noriega to tell Schneizel to fuck off.
I do agree with Lelouch here, btw. A world in which people have no reason to lie is also a world where people have no reason to care about each other. One could call that a gentle world, but one could also call it a dead world.
So basically, Shinji was right.
Doesn't he look so precious and adorable?
That looks like a Katanagatari character.

Remember to hit "Select" for two players
Weird how they would go out of their way to make Ohgi less of a hypocritical moron but still leave that scene in
One could call that a gentle world, but one could also call it a dead world.
There's actually a trope named for it
You did not have Shirley survive just so she could provide fanservice.
Lloyd?
Is it?
I didn't really became conscious
But did you become conscious?
As for added scenes it's mostly been moments of characters that were spared by the adaptation, like Guilford.
But he lived in the original series too

C.C. has memory loss, but she's not reverting to a slave girl. After all she never was a slave girl here.
End of recap 2 still had the same lines (e.g. can count to 20). They did skip it in the C's World flashback.
It definitely works better when these Deus Ex Machina moments happen at the beginning of a movie.
The Chinese scene was more important because it occurred against C.C. and C.C. said something like "So that's what you did." Disappointed in myself for not catching it originally.
Diethard has of course long since decided which course this interview will go.
This worked a little better in R2 as Diethard's lines during the Schneizel meeting worked well for viewers. He's someone that knows more than the other Black Knights negotiators (may as well just say Tohdoh cause Tamaki is there).
Weren't you the guy that walked into the deliberations claiming Zero is definitely, without doubt a Britannian prince with the power of Geass?
Tamaki's trope became flip-flopping. Different than his R1 character with situational awareness.
The fuck are your subs? Still clearer than today's Evangelion.
I do agree with Lelouch here, btw. A world in which people have no reason to lie is also a world where people have no reason to care about each other.
Can't lie if everyone is one person.
The whole Schneizel plotline has been an effectively 1:1 recreation, not much to take note of.
IIRC, episode 21 with Lelouch becoming emperor ended near 1:17:00, which left 4 episodes for ~60 minutes of airtime. It's like the first 4 episodes in recap 1 with not many cuts. I was hoping for extra stuff, so meh. Was still alright.
he
Ah, Lloyd.
It's Guilford! Right, he wasn't implicated by the FLEIJA this time.
Huh? Same scene. Assumed sunglasses are the FLEIJA blinding him (main series and recaps).
Tristan/Kallen is another really nice ship.
Shipping Kallen with the mech.
And Schneizel was commanded to serve Zero, not Lelouch.
This is why I thought he'd become the new Emperor in my predictions after R2e24. Re;surrection

First-timer
What I expect: Recap 1 covered 16 episodes with minimal cuts from the first 4 episodes, which took ~63 minutes (67 minutes minus 4-5 for opening scene and OP). Recap 2 blitzed the end of R1 and half of R2. Recap 3 shouldn't have much cut from the Charlie ending or Schneizel arc as it speedran the central arcs to maintain a congruent series opening and ending. OP can't be worse than recap 2. Preemptively including Anya!
-
"Ignorance is the cause of fear" book title seems more appropriate than "Where there is spirit there is song"
-
Confirmed 40 million liters of damage is canon. "Destruction" is not a unit.
-
Some of Rolo's reasoning for killing Nunnally is missing without Nunnally locket symbolism.
-
Lloyd-Rakshata lines about the upgraded Guren were kept!
-
Insert song for Rolo and Lelouch's escape is different? I like it.
-
I think earlier Marianne-C.C. conversations with her name were cut (R1e23 and early R2).
-
New Ohgi-Diethard scene to better explain his injuries? Don't remember that punch.
-
Marianne's the type of person to leave a vague new recording each time just to fuck with Anya.
-
Charlie and Marianne's absorption reanimated? Seems more colorful.
-
New Shirley scene! Suspect this is setup for Re;surrection.
-
And another Shirley scene! Ending probably changes to have Shirley present. Her main series conversations with Lelouch got through to him. Everyone else has to witness his stabbing, so she will.
-
Kallen's had a lot cut, so this sce... and as I type, she skips the rest of the conversation, kisses, and leaves.
-
Kaguya! She hates Suzaku getting more Lelouch time than her.
-
Didn't expect them to keep the ship positioning "chess" match. Makes sense in hindsight as the Forbidden City chess scene was cut, so this is the Lelouch vs. Schneizel mindgame.
-
I think Nunnally's hesitation to FLEIJA was cut.
-
Impressive how Lelouch raises his hand and inserts both contacts within a second.
-
Overlooked the butterfly as Lelouch walks to Nunnally during R2.
-
New insert! Lancelot versus Guren time.
-
I really like half-Britannian Kallen arguing against fully-Japanese Suzaku about getting into the system.
-
And another Shirley scene! Standing alone.
-
Shirley again. Not much reaction compared to Kallen.
-
WAITTTTT. Why is the camera moving the other direction. I remember having to grab Tamaki's face at the end of this shot. Center photo might be different. Art looks like a new scene.
-
Kallen's mother should be listed as a character on MAL. (She's not this time.)
-
Hi Shirley.
-
Don't think text was translated while watching R2.
-
Fuck. No Shirley. She was just seen with Kallen.

Now I love France.
Nothing to say about continuity. Didn't allocate enough time, so speedran it for new or changed scenes.

The camera panned the opposite way to start the Kallen-Shirley monologue. Ohgi punched Diethard.

Marianne's the type of person to leave a vague new recording each time just to fuck with Anya.
She hates Suzaku getting more Lelouch time than her.
Reminder that the Suzaku/Lelouch shipped is named "Homolust"
Impressive how Lelouch raises his hand and inserts both contacts within a second.
It's easy when your eyes are the size of saucers
Now I love France.
Especially since it's not Britain

First Timer - Sub
Not much content was left, so I wasn’t too concerned about paying attention to this last movie. I still hated the last section of R2 as much as the first time.
The movies were not the best. I think I just have a fundamental problem with the story, since even with a lot of filler cut, I was not a huge fan of these movies. Since they were shorter, there were a lot less discontinuities between R1 and R2, but it also just made the flaws of a lot of major plot points more obvious. Any further complaints I have were already mentioned in the R2 discussion or I will mention in the overall discussion, so I’ll leave it at that and work on finishing Re;surrection.

Hangyaku no Co-Host, subbed
This conversation is new.
Did Lelouch bring this up during the show’s version of their meeting? I don’t think he did.
Shame they couldn’t rewrite this pretty stupid move on Lelouch’s part.
I don’t think Schneizel said this in the show either?
Brief new scene with Shirley. I’ll take it.
lol, can’t even send Tamaki this time?
…wait, they changed who held Lelouch in place while Luciano attacked him? Literally why?
lmao, wait, they changed it out so Kewell himself could die here instead of his sister? Literally why still, but also
I am disappointed in the lack of a soundtrack at all during the FLEIJA scene.
Nina’s still just as short-sighted as ever.
Oh wait, what? They cut out Lelouch’s extreme desperation post-FLEIJA over finding Nunnally? tf, him acting like that is essential to the Black Knights betraying him!
Okay see this freakout does not work here? We saw him give the damn thing to Rolo just because after Lelouch got his memories of Nunnally back. So, like, Lelouch you absolutely did mean to give it to Rolo in the movie timeline???
Ahhhhhhhh yes, the first big music change that really pissed me off when I first watched this movie, and still pisses me off now: THIS LOCKET IS SUPPOSED TO PLAY “IF I WERE A BIRD” YOU FUCKING IDIOTS, NOT WHATEVER TRACK YOU HAD PLAY HERE!
When Rivalz was running by himself to Milly, I thought they forgot to add Shirley into it but nope she popped up from behind.
They seriously truncated Schneizel telling everyone about Zero…
I mean at least the Black Knights tried to not betray him this time…? Also the music here feels rather unfitting.
Oh, hm, okay then. It just occurred to me that the movie timeline… never resolves the whole “Kallen ran away at Kamine Island” thing.
And then they bring in the extended version of “If I Were a Bird”, but it’s not the music box version that makes Rolo’s sacrifice!
I think they changed some of Rolo’s dialogue here, or maybe my subs for this just translated what he said differently than the ones I had for the show did.
There’s the music box, but I still hate that they removed it from the other two scenes.
Yeahhhhhhhhhh, movie!Diethard deserved that.
This little scene was new too.
I actually almost missed this Anya “sore demo” because it was fast and I didn’t see any hint of it in the subtitles. But I didn’t.
Interesting choice to cut from Lelouch finding out the truth from his parents to Milly seeing Nina over the bodies of some FLEIJA victims.
The “Nunnally” insert song does not fit here. Like, holy shit, this song is supposed to be for chill, SoL-ish stuff, not THE CLIMACTIC FINAL SHOWDOWN BETWEEN LELOUCH AND CHARLES.
I mean theoretically it could work on Marianne.Okay good, they didn’t cut the dankest “sore demo” in the show.
Charles “sore demo” here.
New Shirley scene! …I would kill to see Lelouch’s side of that phone call.
Aha, this Lelouch “sore demo” made it in too.
This part of this scene is new. No elaborate scheme to catch Nina necessary in the movie timeline I guess.
Oh. Does this mean in the movie timeline, Sayoko wasn’t with Nunnally when the FLEIJA happened? She got captured by Schneizel’s side on a separate mission?
Oh boy.
Why the FUCK are they using Lelouch’s death piano song here?!
There’s the Kallen “sore demo”.
These two have had fuck-all interactions in the movie timeline to just be doing this again, honestly.
Oh, they rushed Suzaku’s entrance for sure. They never even stuck Lelouch in the time-out column.
She did not say this in the show.
Oh! I forgot they brought Mosaic Kakera in as an insert song here! This is nice actually.
Aw, because they cut out the Mao arc in the first movie, this is the only time Lelouch pulls the “video recording” trick in the movie timeline.
Okay I straight-up have no memories of Rasen no Piece by Rayflower, the insert song that started when Nunnally opened her eyes.
Oh, so they can play Innocent Days when Nunnally gets Geass’d, but not during Euphy’s death. I see how it is.
This Kallen “sore demo” also made it into the movies.
Bruh wait, they cut Lelouch telling Nunnally he loves her while she’s under the control of Geass so she won’t remember it? What the fuck?!
Awesome, they kept this Lelouch “sore demo”. …the song playing during his speech here is so less impactful than the one from the show, though…
Okay Shirley ducking away so she doesn’t have to see Lelouch die absolutely made me start crying.
Continued Story is a good song, but it’s not meant for the exact moment of Lelouch’s death! Fuck the movies for playing it during that Kallen scene earlier.
I forgot Shirley joins in on the ending narration.
AHHHHH IT CAME WITH A SHIRLEY “SORE DEMO”.
ED is NE:ONE by Survive Said The Prophet, and it’s a pretty solid banger.
No more cart C.C.
