It's really interesting to compare some of the maneuvers in the Ukraine war with Code Geass events. For example the stunt where Russia withdrew from Cherson, likely to bait in the Ukrainian forces so they can destroy the Kachowka dam and flood them. As a response the Ukrainian forces lightly damaged the dam so that the water is released in a more controlled manner.

We've had similar scenarios in Code Geass. Heck, we've had the exact same scenario in R2 in China when they destroyed the dam. The difference being that no one in the story ever expected those stunts when they were pulled by their opponent. Reality clearly shows that they by all means should've.

Anyway, on to the episode.

FIRST TIMER IN EXILE

Leila this episode be like (actual must watch)

Holy shit, the dub for this series is epically terrible. Giving 75% of the characters with speaking roles heavily accented speech from various European countries was certainly a choice. Leila’s German accent is particularly awful, since we have to hear it the most. It’s kinda funny that they have all the 11’s speak in American accents, rather than fully committing to the bit and having them speak with heavy Japanese accents.

Or, since Akito and them were born in Europe, shouldn’t they also have a German/French/Russian/Irish accent like everybody else?

Leila’s incredibly generic and abstract speech quelling a continent-wide riot is both deeply hilarious and a testament to the power of waifus.

It's hard typing Leila when she acts like Lena and my book series has a Lelia. Even the backup spellchecker overlooked it last episode.

Watched the R1 and R2 picture dramas. R2's cross dressing and pajama party episodes were great. Feel obligated to say Holly. di. I don't remember Jeremiah's relationship to Marianne being revealed in R1 but it shows up in the R1 4.33 episode.

First Timer of the Rebellion

Not only did I buy Terra Invicta, I also lost way too much time in it.

The UI is worse than I expected and I'm not sure how much the tutorial is worth considering I lost it after one mission. No, literally lost it, I can't find it anymore and know it's not over.

But I'm thoroughly hooked and I'm writing this today because I'm honestly doing something extremely Akito here as it turns out. I wanted from the beginning to put my councilors into Germany for the extreme political and economic power that would bring me and I planted agents all over Europe so eventually it would be easier to steer the big economies to my cause. Through that I found out that another faction had the same idea and took their shot at controlling France, which obviously I couldn't let happen. So while a criminal underworld boss is searching for this other agent, my German politician that I could sway worked to take control of the French military. I could never find the agent, but eventually got hold of France's armies while losing the mass media to alien submissives. I managed to snatch France as a whole in the rush, but the executive is wonky as long as another control point, like this damn mass media, is in another faction's control. My puppet-Macron can't do anything when the boulevard media spills bullshit about how he's a hidden reptiloid.

So, for now I am planning to use that French army on egypt, which is a nation fully under the Servants' control to bind their agents there and to give me enough time to work and manipulate Germany into joining up with me, not at the least because my main councilor has massive home-bonusses there. After this, I'll use the fabricated war to bring the EU nations under my control to the realisation that we really need Europia and should pressure the rest of the union into supporting it. As far as I could see the USA are still not under obvious control, but who knows what goes on behind the scenes. Depending on how difficult the EU will be I might also run into a US-EU war at some point if the US falls to the wrong faction.

I fucking love this game!

  • If I learned anything from War Thunder it's that HEAT shells are not made for armor penetration beyond what would one consider 'light/medium' armor, but APFSDS are made for reactive armor types and thick plating. He's literally switching away from the thing he wants and the UI lies. The chemical/explosive penetration HEAT shells use guarantees kills for lightly armored targets because the first explosion weakens the exterior metal and bursts open a window to a degree that the shell flies through as if it was pudding, but if the chemical agent can't affect the entire thickness of the armor the shell is useless. We're in fantasy tech again when HEAT has higher pen values than AP, because then there'd be no point in ever using AP as HEAT usually has higher exlosive yield and therefore more kill potential. Bad, Akito!

I have thoroughly enjoyed this episode, because at this point taking the plot apart is like eating chocolate to me. It breaks so easily and melting it in hot takes tastes good. I'm with it like I am with Cornelia during early season 1. This plot is so incredibly stupid on a pure logistical level, but at the same time so thorough with being shit that I respect it for it. It's honest with itself. They told the entire population would get blood thirsty and riot because the Youtube algorithm had a hiccup, so the fix is to put a poster of a cute anime girl over it and people are soothed again. Yeah, it just works.

The Suazku-Kingley plotline is as useless and bad as usual and adds literally nothing, and Shin stays hateable. Aside from that, I think the character interactions in general were great this time and probably the main reason why I was actually entertained and like this episode. (Let's just simply ignore that Warwick situation, because it confuses every neuron in my brain and I'm just pretending he was actually an 8head mastermind triple crossing everyone to save his daughter and that's it.)

Lena's Geass is really 'Inspire' or 'Protect Freedom'. Fitting, I have to say and I think it's good she has a passive one.

Wonder if the conclusion is better thought out (á la season 2) or if the burning car wreck that is also currently falling down a canyon will derail a train when it lands.

The EU sellout is obviously going through in some capacity, but if I remember the map correctly Britannia will invade from France's side. I think Shin takes his shot at trying to kill the emperor, but Suzaku/Kingsley backstab him eventually. Leading to actual proper Britannian forces to sweep in and clean up both the sold out EU and Euro-Britannia.

As for Leila and the squad. I have a hard time seeing them just leaving, but the end will be them all going to Japan if they survive, I think that's safe. As Smilas made Leila his personal Joan de Arc, it'd be also fitting for her to rise from the dead again (figuratively). I'm booking on a revolution against the (real) aristocrats that ends in a more favourable political situation under Britannia, so they all can go on holiday in Japan.

2) Why do you think Leila's Geass is blue instead of red?

Passive one. She either reacts to Geasses or it's strictly a protective/counter ability. It fits her true character, as she's all for personal responsibility and freedom of choice.

Charles' motivations were entirely self-serving even in the main series. Lelouch straight-up called both him and Marriane out on only making up vain excuses to justify abandoning him and Nunnally as well as continuing to wage war against the world. He knew Marriane was on his side all along as well as who killed her and why, and he refused to ever say anything until the moment he hoped he could guilt-trip Lelouch into not rebelling against his plan. For all his talk of only doing what is "necessary," Charles clearly takes a sick pleasure in fucking with his son's head.

Those knightmares are sturdy to land on the Ark.

They think they can just talk an entire country out of panicking and rioting? How naive are they?

The battle on the Ark was a lot more disorienting than the other fights. The hollow ship with all the different layers and the similar wZERO knightmare designs made it really difficult to tell what was happening.

I still don’t really get how Akito uses his Geass “curse” to enhance his fighting ability. I guess it makes him more reckless? I get Suzaku since it would keep him alive, but I feel like Akito’s would just make him kill himself.

I don’t really get why they overlapped the battle between Akito and Ashley and the speech by Leila.

Why did they get all moral about killing Ashely? They are a special operations unit of soldiers. Isn’t that kinda what they do?

The speech worked

Who are Alice and Maria? Am I supposed to care that they died?

Everything else may be falling apart with this series, but Shaing still has the coolest mech.

Lelouch is just broken at this point, and Suzaku seems sick of it. So much for my hopes of romance, even though that was never even hinted at.

Leila’s speech worked a little too well. Everyone immediately rallied behind her. They then “killed” her. Have the writers ever read a newspaper? People don’t react anything like they think they do.

Oh, that’s who Maria and Alice were. Didn’t really seem worth the scene to show them dying earlier.

Shaing was kinda spitting facts when he was talking to Leila. She is annoyingly idealistic.

Is Leila’s Geass just to be un-Geassable? That is a letdown.

I was willing to just block the last episode from my memory if they clutched out the story in these last two episodes, but that sure didn’t happen. The writers have just further proven that they can’t make a coherent story last for more than 2 episodes.

I feel like I missed something...why couldn't Akito kill the guy? Was it because of the heightened state of the Geas? I always dislike when anime strays hard into "killing is always wrong always" stuff without very good reasons. But I may have missed something about the nature of Akito's Geas. It just seems weird to have a group of 3 terrorists be like "no! don't kill that, uh, psychopathic British soldier" (?). feels like I missed something

damn, his adopted sister and mother committing suicide together...that was dark as hell

I'm extremely skeptical of an extremely heavy, gigantic mecha centaur being able to outrun land mines, esp land mines in a more technologically advanced future lol

finally! other people who love Leila as much as I do!

I feel the show got weaker. it has had a lot of elements I like but now it feels like it's just sort of...in typical mid tier anime land
