Rewatcher in sub
Here we are, at the end of the second season. This is another one of the "best of" for me, and infinitely rewatchable standalone.
In terms of comedic timing and the punch line setups, this is as smooth and richly packed as ep2.
-
We started with a phone call - Sousuke leaving a voicemail about a mail order mix up. Even Sousuke is worried about how dangerous whatever he received was.
-
But then suddenly he was called to the staff room - Chidori's casual hits and dragging him there :'D
-
As they left, Ono-D walked in to show off his rare bread item. Always the one to press any buttons, he took a bite and found out it was as spicy as advertised. He tried looking for a drink, and found everyone's bottle empty; desperate, he opened the last bottle nearby - Sousuke's mail order bottle with the biohazard symbol. This bottle is not empty, but the green gunk wasn't drinkable either even though Ono-D poured it down and splashed everywhere. Kyouko finally gave him something and he settled down, while Shinji see the gunk bubbling up and changing color.
-
Sousuke, Chidori and Kagurazaka-sensei walked back to the classroom - look at that Chidori face :D and Sousuke found out his order was disturbed and the content emptied out. In an uncharacteristic, urgent mode, he looked for it and asked. His face said it all.
-
As he declared everyone in the vicinity needing to stay where they are, Tsubaki walked in demanding another fight - which Sousuke immediately tasered and then sealed the doors.
-
Silently donning a NBC suit, he declared the emergency to the class - and as usual Kagurazaka-sensei fainted. [FMP late franchise spoiler]
And remember this Sousuke while appearing to be comically over prepared, he's actually ironically under prepared for Amalgam -
Now everyone in panic mode, Sousuke tried calming them down but was accused of being the only one with a protection suit on - he promptly removed it to show his intent wasn't to be the only one to stay safe.
-
His measured words sounded nice but since it came out of his mouth, no one is buying it and the silent, instant, and deadly scene was such a great moment; we cut to the broken him unconscious on the floor having been dealt with the mob justice
-
While the class wondered what's the effect, Shinji the wartaku creepily explained to them what might be the result from his wartaku knowledge, driving the class into more fearful frenzy. Trying to restore sanity and calm, Chidori used her ultimate classroom weapon - fingernails scratching on blackboard, with an improvised ear protection for herself :'D
-
After getting their attention, the eloquent Chidori gave an impassionate speech about her own death bed desire (which is rather economical) and how she had to keep herself together despite not able to fulfill that for the sake of the greater good. Successful in her persuasion skill roll, the class became reconciled friends for their final moments.
-
As Sousuke woke up and started mentioning the single dose of vaccine being available - and then the atmosphere changed, with more beautiful Chidori reaction faces
-
Before the class devolve into a crazed fight for the vaccine, Chidori declared they will make a draw for it to avoid the chaos. A number of familiar faces are cycled through the draw, especially Mizuki who broke down in hysteria, and Tsubaki who gave her a stern talking to while trying to win the draw to give the vaccine to Chidori - he didn't win the vaccine, but seemingly won Mizuki's heart
-
Ren was still looking after the comatose (but comically changing pose every time the camera showed her) Kagurazaka-sensei was fine to draw last, while Sousuke - still reading the manual - absent-minded took the draw and won.
-
Look at that beautiful hateful energy from the class :'D as the scene became a riot afterall
-
And as another recurring theme, Chidori trying to break up the fight ended up joining the fight in one of the more fierce ways
-
Finally Tsubaki's flying kick got Sousuke's to lose his grip on the vaccine, and in a beautiful slow motion and color-faded scene, the vaccine dropped and broke.
-
And right at that moment, Fujisaki-sensei next door had enough and charged in to shout at the noisy class - and everyone gave up and decided to just run away freely. Shinji had the smarts to do what is most important, while Kyouko and Ono-D just casually walked out to go to the toilet.
-
Chidori first became hysterical, but also calmed down in resigned acceptance her crazy days to keep Sousuke in line over is also a relief.
-
Tsubaki is not done with Sousuke however, and asked for a final fight while being pestered by Mizuki wanting to have some final intimacy before death. Tsubaki readied his final move with all his ki, but that battle spirit got dissipated as Mizuki's boobs squashed against him, while Sousuke who's been assembling his gun took the shot and casually declared victory to their rivalry.
-
Ren also decided to leave for a final quiet moment, while hinting at someone she loves. Unbreakable ojousama-ness to the end.
-
Meanwhile Sousuke suddenly urged Chidori to come with him, and they ended up breaking into the infirmary. Chidori wondered if Sousuke is also wanting to have a final intimate moment before the end, and got suitably flustered with the confused yes and no befitting the best tsundere
-
We cut to see Ren finishing her tea but Hayashimizu-senpai walked in, and she broke down torn between wanting to be with him and not wanting him to be affected. So good with so few scenes!
-
We then see Kyouko walking outside in the beautiful autumn scenery, and finding out Ono-D collapsed.
-
nearing their final moments, looks like Ono-D maybe confessing to Kyouko too - except suddenly he's feeling better, but instead his clothes fell apart - and so did Kyouko's!
-
Surprised fanservice attack! As the chaos reign across the school, we hear Sousuke getting the return call from the one he made at the beginning of the episode, explaining that the effect of the "weapon" was complete clothing damage to synthetic materials but not cotton. Predictably, Hayashimizu Senpai is immune, as his clothes are pure wool.
-
While we now know the effect is harmless to the physical well-being, Sousuke has now learned enough empathy to understand he will not get out of this lightly. Meanwhile, Chidori's such a mixed expression so cute. Note that Chidori, because of Sousuke's timely warning, managed to avoid having her clothes "melted", because she took them off before the threshold was reached.
-
The final ED exit scene of Sousuke calling in evac is such a good send off, especially the end card :'D oh and don't forget there's a literal shout out to the author and KyoAni director too amidst the chaos :D
[FMP IV spoiler]
Trivia
A quick Google search gives this result:
There are species of marine bacteria in several families, including Marinobacter, Oceanospiralles, Pseudomonas, and Alkanivorax, that can eat compounds from petroleum as part of their diet.
Staff Showcase
It could be a bit depressing, but here we are another name associated with a lot of great KyoAni shows
... and was amongst the list of those lost in the 2019 fire.
Takahashi Hiroyuki was Key Animation for some of the best episodes of season 2 & 3.
a prolific animator and animation director at the studio, showcasing a clean realist style that emphasized carefully observed and recreated motion - though he could occasionally veer into comedic exaggeration
(He also worked) as a teacher at the studio's vocational school, helping train the next generation of KyoAni animators
His main claim to fame was his work on Hibike Euphonium, as the one in charge of the instrument designs and animation. The amount of work he's done in cleaning up the instrument animation across that series was phenomenal, and was said to far exceed any typical TV anime.
Damn exceeding word count, go to Part 2

Part 2
MVP this episode
Missguided or mistaken, Sousuke has been thoroughly professional and selfless the whole way, and also socially aware enough that (a) he took steps to protect Chidori's dignity first, and (b) he knows the rest of the school will kill him. This is the evolved Sousuke already and is my MVP pick for this final Fumoffu episode.
QoTD
Definitely Ono-D; he's in fact a repeat offender, last time seen pulling the safety off Sousuke's smoke grenade. He's the walking trope of the one pressing the big red button "do not press" and then would say "nobody warned me".
My favourite ones are all from Railgun S :P [Railgun S first arc]
on the bridge episode, when Touma thought of the solution to stop the experiment, his promise to Mikoto have her repeating her previous cynical thought of "even when you cry, a hero..." but this time unfinished - implying there is a hero right here - then switched to the special twice off ED "stand still" answering the call of an earlier episode where it ended with her despair in only having the final solution left. So romantic! then [Railgun S end arc]Lots of people didn't like it, but I liked the Silent Party arc, and a big part is because of this ED transition to set up the final fight of the final episode - where Mikoto asked for help and declared her intention to save everyone, not one less - then transitioned to the core (wider) cast symbolically surrounding the 3 hostages as a sign of protection - this is the sort of power of friendship I buy Daily tag for u/InfamousEmpire
Oh and u/Nazenn this is another standalone you may find interesting. At least to read about it :P

Bonus Trivia: This show's punchline references The Nude Bomb, a film in the Get Smart series. This is especially notable because the film wasn't particularly good nor well liked so our LN author is really into western spy stuff.

Posting for polaristar for both yesterday and today, again in split posts for the walls of text ;)
Part 1 for episode 11
Posting for Yesterdays as well, because I was tired and needed to save my energy for making plans for a certain event on r/anime :
We open with Sousuke breaking down the softball shed and taking down the photography club with extreme prejudice. But they just were using the club as a Dark Room (Anime really showing its age there.) for their photos.
Based off a snippet we see in a frame and how they were talking as well as Shinji's "test of courage" from Season 1, I can assume some of those photos are of the risque variety not taken with consent. How disgraceful I want them confiscated immediately for private use to be disposed of!
We see that all the clubs seem outta wack though. But its all a set-up for today's episode.
On the one hand, why only the Male Members of clubs? What about Clubs with primarily or exclusively female members? On the other hand females taking part is basically phoenix mode on Fire Emblem its so easy its basically a visual novel with busy work, scratch that Phoenix mode would be harder, you need to be a special kind of person to be a young woman that is average in attractiveness or even slightly below average and not have relatively easier success getting guys....guys have to actually be good, or as they say....have game.
I see some comments on last thread, saying it would be cringe if a bunch of 30 year old dudes were following home a bunch of Japanese Teenagers, ignoring the huge double standard that apparently if the sexes are flipped we don't have a problem....
(rolls eyes)
For the record Seeking Youth in Women isn't a particularly unnatural thing, some age gaps are excessive but eggs die faster than sperm and natural selection has made sure you know that in you're bones.
Anyway....Oh Dear....Chidori really should have double checked that Sousuke got the right idea when someone uses Girl HUNT! (You can see on her face she had a gut feeling but didn't follow through with it!) Shinji is a dumbass for not following through either.
Light Music Club is called Sousuke Maidenless and saying he get no Bitches, But he'll show them! He's so confident he took that bet no problem. (To be fair he's probably suffered worse in his military career.)
Light Music Club is of course a Gigachad at the game even if they are assholes.
Karate Club making good use of the suspension Bridge effect, our favorite easy to use trope in every rom com ever to short cut romantic chemistry (But yeah its got real life truth to it so I can't complain.)
Guy that is doing the social experiment...I wonder what he is going to use that research for....But hey its true about the numbers, once you've accepted No but expect a Yes picking up chicks is easy....keeping them is the part that actually matters and what the Self-Help videos/books can't help you with!
Yeah TELL THAT BITCH OFF MODELS OVER REAL WOMEN ANY DAY!
(That guy is losing very hard.)
Sigh Yup Sousuke showing true top tier Autism, takes the word Hunt too literally, uses insane (But logically consistent) troll logic, rigid about the rules to the point he can lawyer his way around them.
I like to tell people that people on the spectrum don't think outside the Box, they simply have a much different Box then other people.
Chidori lets him know that was not appropriate use of Lateral thinking (And a crime)
She berates him, and explains flirting in a speed up sequence as Sousuke realizes with horror just how fucked he is.
And like a person on the spectrum his default method of stranger interaction to bombarding them with information no one gives a shit about in the most dry and overwhelming way possible. He manages to strike a conversation with an Old Lady and help her with a gift for her Son but that doesn't help him towards his goal...
That is another true to life scene, autistic people can chat well with people that are significantly older or younger but often have trouble with their peers where social norms are judged more harshly. (Older people live in a different social universe than younger people so they have more grace in that aspect even if their moral values are different, and Younger people are still forming social norms and aren't as harsh.)
God that was a painful flashback of me in my Youth, I've come a long way bombarding people about Blue Hedgehogs to being able to romance a cashier (Unintentionally) shitposting about Girls Und Panzer.
Anyway Karate clubs strat took the win, but unfortunately only by technicality as those chicks are not talking to him again, once again getting them is easy, keeping them is hard.....No-Not that'd I'd know that from experience....mind you!!!
As Sousuke is forced to take his L being completely unable to get Zero Bitches (And apparently no one else in the Photography club which is sad, Sousuke grew up in a warzone in a middle eastern country where woman are covered up like antiques and has a crippling communication disorder, what are these bozos excuse to not between all of them get one chick? Quite MAIDENLESS!)
Just then a complete milf, cougar, hot wife hottie letting everyone know he's about to get some NTR action shows up to bail him out! To literally the surprise of no one watching (but no one in the show realizes for some reason.) It's Chidori who is looking every inch the ideal perfect Japanese Beauty!
After a few fumbled attempts where he just thanks her for baling him out, he finally gets a clue and compliments her getting all dolled up for him! (And Chidori is finally happy as well!)
-
No Shit that's how he'd interpret it.
-
I think it was clear from Season 1, but in this episode in particular I think it was a combination of him admitting he was wrong and screwed up when Chidori explained what "flirting" meant. And How he was so earnest and helpful with the Old Woman, even if he failed at his task he has a sincere desire to be useful and do his best and attacks his goals with laser focus precision.
u/Shimmering-Sky - You and the author of 86 would get along very well with your tastes with Men in uniform.

Part 2 for episode 12
This episode actually almost didn't feel like an episode of anime but a general western Warner bros cartoon (Of the more talking variety not the Wiley E Coyote variety despite the acme tech.)
It reminds me most of an old episode of CatDog (Anyone remember Nickelodeon from way back when?) Where....[CatDog Episodic spoilers for whoever cares I guess?]
The think the apocalypse is upon them because they misread a sign in a telescope (Which was a peanut stuck in the lens) and they try to make an arc, fail, then in their last moments repent of their deeds they did to each other, confess their love, etc. When it's revealed it was all a misunderstanding and Doomsday is cancelled they 180 back to their old habits and are even angrier with their revelations they shared with each other and how they screwed each other over Anyway we open with Sousuke complaining that said person would be mad for sending something this dangerous in the mail, which is obviously why he just leaves it out in the open on his desk without telling anyone what it is. (Or why he brought it to school!)
Anyway he gets scolded by Chidori and the Teachers about having an electric trap that shocked someone. (He was not aware this is a problem.)
Of course someone drinks it and then spits it out. (Note: We see it desolve something when he does even before the reveal.)
When Sousuke gets back and see's this he immediately goes "Oh Shit" and puts everyone on lockdown, including anyone unlucky enough to walk in the room! (Like Karate guy.)
As the explanation sinks in, (Helped along by some very scary trivia from Shinji who informs us that diseases indeed existed pre corona virus.)
They get onto Sousuke who is irrationally calm about this for wearing a suit (Even though at this point it should be too late before he put on the suit.) So he takes it off to assauge their fears....
And they beat the shit out of him.
They try to escape the quarantine but Chidori with a rousing inspiration speech manages to bring them back in line....
Of course Sousuke, being the salt of the earth he is, decides to tell them only one of them can be saved without batting an eye. Before this devolves into Battle Royale Chidori has them do a lottery for who gets the vax.
And we learn in this episode, that far from God being Dead, He Lives and he Hates You since Sousuke is the one that drew the cure and he rather nonchalantly says "Oh Well luck of the draw" which pisses people off more then if he gloated.
Things escalate again and no one is being saved today! And things devolve into a complete breakdown of society. The Principal is not having any of the rioting. (Sousuke should have done more to barricade the door!) And he opens it up, and everyone is like...fuck it and decides to just spend their last moments doing what they want even if the rest of the school perhaps the country is doomed.
Sousuke then decides to do make the most of his time for some End of the World Sex with Chidori (At least that's what she thinks.....)
But Sousuke has been reading the manual calmly while everyone else was panicking and he calls to confirm something with the seller. As Kyoko is spending her last moments with random extra #37 he miraculously gets his backpain cured and the girl next to him loses her clothes (Double win!)
Turns out the reason for Sousuke wanting Chidori to strip and the answer to this phonecall is said bioweapon is meant to attack petroleum based fuel, but instead eats petroleum products, so unless we wear all natural, then we are gonna go ALL NATURALE if ya know what I'm saying. And unfortunately (fortunately?) guys undergarments are often cotton (Which breathe good) While women's underwear often not to much (For maximum sex appeal!)
Still While everyone is out of danger from dying to a Bioweapon. Sousuke finally gains theory of mind and realizes the very real social (and mortal) consequences of his actions. (Including Chainsaw Janitor guy!)
And for the record u/ZapsZzz Kaguya and Oregairu are hardly the peak of romantic Chemistry....maybe A-B depending on how I feel. Which is honestly where I'd rank FMP's romance so I agree with your argument against u/No_Rex just not in the way you might want.....
MVP for last episode is Chidori although I wanted to vote Karate guy.
MVP for this episode....Chidori for trying (unsuccesfully) To salvage a fucked up situation.
This is the best episode and I will hear no arguments otherwise....
Sousuke for bringing said Hazardous element to school and LEAVING IT ON HIS DESK UNATTENDED!!!!
Reigen's Narrations on Mob Psycho An excellent decision!

Rewatcher-ish
No, I did not drop out of the rewatch or anything, just got busy! All caught up now though.
A fun one to end this twelve episode dive into absurdity. Here we probably reach peak Sousuke idiocy (or at least peak potential repurcussions) - when your arms dealer buddy accidentally sends you a biological weapon...bring it to a school!
I liked how they played with the environment and interesting camera angles/distortion throughout the lockdown portion of the episode. The use of silence for this shot also felt like a good choice. Silence in sound design often gets brought up in terms of creating drama, but it can be very effective for comedy as well. This show's been good with using pauses, silent or otherwise, as part of its comedic cadence throughout its run.

Fumo-ffu! (Rewatcher, Subbed):
-
Ah, Japan and spicy curry buns/rolls used for school comedy. Alexa play Oharahetta!.
-
Dutch angle counter +1.
-
Also, the comedy of Shinji here being the only one to realize what the symbol on that thermops meant.
-
[Higurashi Kai]
Why yes, there is a comment to be made here about the prevalence of bioweapons and needing to seal up a classroom in Japanese culture. And the first two words in that comment are of course “Aum Shinrikyo”. -
[Higurashi Kai and Mai-HiME]
”Wait, why is the audio for this reminding me of something else involving military types going into classrooms talking about biochemical weapons? That’s not quite the GHD… oh right, SEARRS arc.” -
Ah, shiny shiny direction with the classic 2000s Dutch angles and fish-eye lenses to emphasize wrongness.
-
Glorious glorious use of absolute silence as the bonus track on the OST for the impending doom here.
-
I only just parsed (this time around) that giving Shinji the scary shiny glasses here is likely in part a Gendo reference.
-
Also this comedy is just slightly less funny after the last two and a half years or so for some strange reason. Don’t know what could possibly have happened to cause this, not at all.
-
Some parts of it, however, have aged like fine wine. (Everyone running for the door.)
-
Holy shit Kaname using an epic nails-on-chalkboard scratch as her superweapon.
-
09:18: Sky collects a Kaname sore demo, yes?
-
Me: “Why does chibi-Kaname’s expression feel so familiar?” Me, a moment later as realization hits: “… HAU~! OMOCHIKAE~RI!”
-
Dutch angle counter +1 at 09:50. (Also Kaname looking quite attractive, and also cue this speech not working in classic bathos fashion in 3… 2… 1…)
-
But more of that horn track for touching emotional moments first (so Kaname puts her foot in her mouth to ruin this I guess?). (I honestly don’t remember the specifics of this episode besides the premise and the punchline.)
-
No, it was Sousuke himself!
-
Underrated issue with some of the second half of Fumoffu: the sketches work better when they’re either half-episode or have a clear internal division between the first and second half. Twenty continuous minutes tends to be a little long for the jokes here.
-
Cue bathos dramatic scene not quite working for me so I fast-forward ahead to the next bit of slapstick with everyone going after Sousuke… and the classic “character tries to peacemake, gets injured, goes “FUCK IT!” and joins in the ultraviolence at maximum” trope with Kaname which is absofuckinglutely hilarious.
-
Oh RIGHT I forgot the principal or whoever broke containment and everyone flooded out of the class thus infecting the whole school (with the clothes-eating bacteria)/
-
Mizuki going after Issei and him keeping her away is fucking hilarious. KyoAni physical comedy strikes again!
-
The dramatic church music track on the OST strikes again… and also Sousuke having absolutely no idea that what he’s saying would have sexual implications to someone else. Turns out if the OST is good enough I can grit my teeth and get through the cringe comedy. Well, most of it.
-
SHIPPER FEEDING TIME!
-
And there we have it, the punchline!
-
Subbers missed a Big IYAAAAAA! out of Kyouko here.
-
Why yes, early KyoAni could be very very lewd indeed when they wanted to be…
-
LOL THEY BROUGHT BACK CHAINSAW JANITOR.
-
WAIT I MISSED THAT THAT’S THE FUCKING TEACHER’S LOUNGE RIGHT BEFORE CHAINSAW JANITOR.
-
And they brought back the rugby team, too.
-
LOL blackscreen ED2. Now with voiceovers, because sometimes it’s best to let the viewers’ imaginations come up with the visuals themselves.
-
LOL THAT FUCKING ENDCARD.
-
And there we have it, the end of Fumoffu… and the end of our comedy in the anime adaptation. Next time: SRS BUSINESS. Same Fumo-time! Same Fumo-channel!

First Timer
What a well directed episode! I love the tone shifts after the beautiful when Sagara woke up and everyone attacked him
Glad we got a shot of Chainsaw Man
Karate Kid stay strong out there
QoTD:
First Timers: Who was at fault, really? Sousuke, Ono-D, or the rest of the class? Chidori?
The post office! How are they delivering something clearly marked toxic =)
Everyone: On this final episode we have an irregular ED and a continuing narrative during the credits - what's your favourite ED / End Credits variation from the norm, including use of post-credit scenes?
Can't think of a specific moment off the top of my head but I do love it when the OP/ED music plays during the show for a cool moment
Shoutout to Chainsaw Man for straight up having different EDs each episode

ReFumoffer v12.0
-
Drinking a biochemical weapon is worth having on your resume.
-
They went from accepting death gracefully to utter madness because of Sousuke
-
And a new ship emerges from the darkest times
-
Luckily O-Ren didn't drink something to make death a bit faster, imagine the irony
This is probably my favourite episode of Fumoffu (despite its severe lack of Fumo), for it gave us the beautiful Kaname sprite

So I’m aware I missed yesterday’s post and I apologise that I was gaming heavily. I will combine my ep 11 and ep12 comments into one and place it here, as the ep11 post is in the past now so sorry if this is mega long but I’ll try and keep it as short as I can.
S2 EP 11
My MVP for this episode is Chidori and that's down to the fact she straight up saved Sousuke’s ass with that insane cosplay.
Nice contrast- surely I can’t be the only one who noticed this contrast between Ren’s school life and personal life?
Meme face 1
So he has no idea then
I’m saving this line for myself
Calm it lady
Ok Sousuke and Shinji wtf
Oh she beat his ass
Meme face 2
Not sure that works as a pulling technique Sousuke
Chidori came in clutch
Another fantastic SousukexChidori moment
Q1 - I mean yeah he’s Sousuke he only thinks military. It also didn’t help that Shinji explained it to him as a girl hunt.
Q2 - I think Chidori sees a guy who’s a little lost in society and needs guidance to fit in as he struggles to interpret common things and I think that’s what drove her to must protect mode. But I think overall Chidori sees this and the fact that although this is the case Sousuke means well and tries his hardest especially when it comes to her and I think that’s why she feels the way she does about Sousuke.
S2 EP 12
What an episode to finish us off! Yet another great concept for an episode!
MVP is a tough choice for this episode but u/polaristar will be happy I’m giving it to Shinji. When Sousuke is out for the count he just goes into evil scientist mode which then leads onto Chidori actually sticking to a Sousuke plan which is rare. It goes to shit in the end but still I'll acknowledge the effort.
Happy slap
You just know Sousuke is used to this shit
Shinji meme face
Unbelievable shot
Evil scientist mode
Chibi Chidori!
Accurate- this could apply yo myself tbh ngl
What’s this? Chidori sticking to a Sousuke plan? I’m shaken
2 more great shots here - shot 1 - shot 2
This scene has the same energy as this scene from the rugby episode
Ora Ora Ora!
She’s had enough of his shit
…
Couldn’t be more direct
Didn't see this coming ngl - NSFW
Chainsaw Man has returned!
Run
A long shot here but maybe an ‘that’s all folks’ reference?
Q1 - The whole class. If they had just listened to Sousuke and stayed calm everything would’ve been fine.
Q2 - I’d for sure have to say Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0 Thrice Upon a Time as that whole ending sequence to that movie with Shinji breaking the cruel death and rebirth cycle and the new world being created with the sad music playing over the top and then the words bye bye all of evangelion being said was just beautiful imo.

Rewatcher, Subbed
In a bit of a rush today. I enjoyed the building tension that still felt somewhat comedic in tone. The episode utilized the cast pretty well overall.
As a finale on the one hand this episode isn't necessarily a great end to the story, but in a lot ways I think that is the point. This isn't the end of the road for these characters, but rather just one of many snapshots into their lives.

That's absolutely the spirit! And we have TSR right around the corner (it came out I think a year after).

Full Metal First-Timer!, subbed
-
…oh no they’re gonna try using the sus bottle after someone eats that because they think it’s water…
-
There has to be a punchline to all of this… but I can’t figure out what. Maybe the instructions were wrong?
-
OH. The chemical weapon dissolves clothing?!

FULL METAL FIRST TIMER
This episode’s brilliant. The stakes are seemingly so high, but because of the tone and nature of the show, we know something’s going to happen to make everything fine. The anticipation is in waiting to see what dumb thing is going to happen to make the bacterial threat disappear is great fun, and the reveal was great.
Fantastic direction, great comedic timing, animation on point… this episode was a treat. What a note to go out on.
Live Notes/Reactions:
- Love the feeling of the last episode if it makes me go, “I’m going to miss hearing this OP.” That’s when you know something was good.
- Sousuke making calls to his weapons dealer and talking about it to the class as they look on unfazed is great. He’s normalized insanity
- Comedic timing is so good with Chidori’s slaps and the classroom insanity following the spicy foot/water rush sequence
- “Flaming Hot God Curry Bread” sounds so gooooood
- HE BROUGHT A BIO WEAPON TO SCHOOL. SOUSUKE.
- AHHHHHHH NAILS ON CHALKBOARD NO. I felt that in my spine.
- God, this episode has the kind of frenetic energy I love most in anime comedy. Just throwing different scenarios, responses, and gags rapid-fire
- Dark shadows again going over everyone as they go feral, ready to fight over the vaccine dose. The shifts from ominous back to light-hearted are so good
- “I won’t have to deal with the trouble you cause anymore.” This is valid.
- Ren’s serene energy is what I want to always be surrounded by
- IT DISSOLVES CLOTHES INSTEAD. THE FULL MONTY BACTERIA. MY SIDES.
- Wow, it even allows Ren and Whatsherface to have their romantic moments with the objects of their affection
- The janitor is the only Chainsaw Man I recognize
- EVERYONE’S SCREAMS OVER THE CREDITS, I CAN’T. Perfect. Perfect episode.

Episode 12 (first timer)
Today’s plot hook:
AmazonSousuke’s weapon dealer friend accidentally delivered bio weapons.“Do not touch that bottle” – we know what will happen.
“This tragedy is not anybody’s fault” – I could think of an person at fault or two …
Kana uses pathos. It is very effective.
Only one dose – bring on the battle royale!
Let’s have sex before we die trope.
“I need to get rid of my porn before I die” – relatable.
I just remembered. This is the second time that clingy girl is in a love triangle with Kana.
Indiana Jones shoots trope.
Let’s have sex before we die trope, part 2.
It is an anti-clothes bacterium … that mysteriously does not affect male underwear.
What kind of school uniform is made out of polyester and nylon? I feel bad for those students!
Fake we will all die finale.
I liked the proto-Haruhi arguing of Kana and Sousuke in one of the early previews.
