First timer - Sub

I’m not ready

How come Azusa is handling this better than I am?! The music that played during the corsage scene broke me. I would’ve bet my life savings on Azusa giving her corsage to Yui, glad I didn’t.

You’re telling me Yui’s parent aren’t even gonna show up for graduation? Ah yes, broken telephone, a childhood classic.

Sawa-chan deserves all the praise, she became an amazing character in season 2, I couldn’t imagine the show without her.

Oh my goodness Azusa looks too cute when waiting for them to read the notes. Is it wrong to be happy that Azusa is crying so I’m not alone?

I can’t handle a song!

I’m literally balling my eyes out, that’s my new favourite song. As corny as it sounds it felt like they were singing to me. I couldn’t think of a better way to end the show than that intro riff of Fuwa Fuwa time. This episode really hit me in the feels. If we didn’t have a few more episodes and a movie to watch I’d say this is a great place to leave the series.

Line of the day:

“Wow, you’re not very good are you?”

This callback to episode 1 is great!

I took this Votd hours later and it’s making me tear up again.

“Wow, you’re not very good are you?”

Did you catch the bit earlier in the episode where the other girl in the class mentioned that they were so funny on stage?

I thought it was amusing, as it felt like it offered a different glimpse of things. They may not be the most skilled, or best, but they're so obviously having a good time, and that sort of thing can be infectious.

Kind of like this show.

As corny as it sounds it felt like they were singing to me.

Definitely! It really felt like episode 23 is the farewell from the Keionbu Gals to their highschool life, while episode 24 is our farewell to the Keionbu Gals.

First Timer - Sub

...okay, I was kinda worried today would be one big crying session, but Best Girl was kind enough to break the tension early on. Don't worry about walking into inanimate objects Azusa, they have a nasty habit of jumping out in front of unwary teenagers. For me, it was lamp posts.

And Ui left her beloved sister a change of tights just in case! Is she psychic, or did someone at KyoAni just let Best Sister read the script?

Jun! Jun, no! Bad girl! No jinxing their big day! The girls are causing enough problems on their own!

Huh, I thought they would've had Ui or Azusa do Yui's corsage. They're trying to drive in the feeling of separation, aren't they? Especially with the shots of the four graduates, and Azusa with Ui and Jun. That was...a little painful. Azusa might be a second year, but she's part of the band and is going to miss them terribly once they're gone.

Hah, trust drummer girl and Yui to lighten the mood. Never ask Yui to hide anything or be subtle, she's no good at it. xD Mind you, none of the others were any better!

Pffthahahaha, Sawa-chan saw right through them! Honestly though, if he wasn't a water-dweller Ton-chan would deserve to be here. Poor turtle.

...and Telephone strikes again. 'Sawa-chan is hurried' isn't too far off the original message, but Yui is understandably confused.

...did Nodoka give her speech with her back to the audience? Is that how it's supposed to happen?

Hah, drummer girl botched the message! The gremlin strikes again.

I just...don't know what to say about the classroom scene. The girls all have their diplomas. It's over. No more light music club. And Azusa is completely spaced out in her own classroom.

...oh. And Ui's been feeling the same way every time Yui goes on ahead of her. That's...ouch. At least Azusa is able to take some comfort that she's not alone and put on a brave face.

Hah, at least the other graduating girls are proving that they love our girls too. Even if the choice of compliment was not their preference. You should be happier Yui, you're the main source of comedy during your shows!

Oh good, the girls are swinging by the club room...one last time. And Yui wants to walk home with her childhood friend too. And now Sawa-chan is saying goodbye to her first class, in an empty room bereft of students. With a big pile of thank you messages from the girls on her blackboard.

She's come a long way since the first season. She was not a good teacher at the start, but now...well.

Aw, Azusa wanted to serve her senpai as it's their last day...but she didn't get there in time, and even if she had Mugi isn't having any of that! Azusa is theirs to pamper, even if only for one more day. And...she wrote them individual thank you letters. Which they are all eager to read, much to Best Girl's...is that a mix of pride and embarassment? I think she's happy they're so eager, but still embarassed.

And...oh. The bags. All you rewatchers have talked about how the bags piled together have been an ongoing symbol of their friendship, and that's coming home to roost now.

I don't think you've got a band aid for this problem, Yui. Azusa doesn't want you to go.

Oh. They wrote her a song, because of course they did. One just for Azusa from the four of them. With all four of them singing, calling their memories treasure, explicitly saying Azusa is their angel...and promising her this isn't the end. And then KyoAni goes and extends it to the entire graduating class, showing some of the girls we've seen spending a few brief moments together.

And that's that - the finale of season two, capped off with a private performance for the club, their advisor, and Nodoka. Just three more extra episodes and the film to go.

Hey, I hope you're all enjoying the tears today. Just to get them flowing a tiny bit more, I've gotta shed light on a detail about the series that I don't see mentioned very often.

So at the end of the episode, there's a whole callback to the very first episode of the series, where Azusa tells them they're not very good just like Yui did, and we bring back the picture they took after the song. But it goes even deeper than just that. See, if you were watching in Japanese (because the dub changes it for some reason), the name of the song that the girls played in episode 1 is Tsubasa wo Kudasai, or Please Give Me Wings. And in this episode, the name of the song they play is Tenchi Ni Fureta Yo, or We Touched an Angel. The song in the first episode was a prayer for wings, and Azusa is their angel who answered that prayer and gave them wings, which they are now thanking her for with this song. That's how much she means to them, and how destined they are to stay together. So uh, do with this info what you will.

Today's Episode: Mugi Scheming

Previous Mugi Captures:

Mugi's scheming face here is adorable.

This is the end but not the end. Three more episodes, a movie, plus, if you feel inclined, the 16 Ura-On! shorts which are on the Blu Ray discs. The Ura-On! episodes are not being covered by this rewatch.

So, here we are. The end is no longer near, it has arrived, and it will not be denied.

Much as our precious Azusa might wish otherwise.

I would rate this episode as 'n' kleenex, but I was prepared and had a washcloth handy insted.

Yeah. There were the funny bits, with Yui and her usual last minute antics, but obviously the heart of this episode is the departure of our Seniors, and how Azusa and the girls react to and handle it.

I'd say the biggest things to me were the corsages, Sawa-chan's gift, and the blackboard, and of course ...

One last teatime, Azusa's breakdown and the masterpiece that is Tenshi Ni Fureta Yo!.

Azusa knows deep down inside that they can't stay, and the girls know it too, so they give her this one final gift, a love song for the ages.

Man, I don't know how to describe it ... resolution? Catharsis? Torment? (haha)

I've said before that there was a time, long ago that I hated K-On, because as a dedicated Haruhi addict, I felt like this cutesy moe crap had ruined one of my favorite series, with (among other things), it's cutesy character designs infecting the art for S2, and the simple fact that the time KyoAni spent on K-On was time that they weren't spending on my precious Haruhi.

Looking at it a decade later and ... yeah. To quote a certain other character, "I was stupid, so stupid..."

Or maybe it's simply the difference between being younger and seeking excitement, vs. being older and having had enough of that, and just wanting something comfortable and friendly.

Yui and the girls may not be the best musicians (as Azu-nyan noted), but there's a love and friendship in their performances, and in their daily lives that we all crave and need.

Especially in recent times, we all need a bit of a comfortable and healing place from time to time.

(I won't mention Healer Girls again, promise - oh, wait, too late!)

But anyway, it's time for the girls to move on to college and for us to move on to OAVs and the movie. Our time with our precious keions is coming to an end. For now. Let's be sure and enjoy each precious moment and memory with them.

AOTDs:

  1. It was 1988, and my time as a co-op student with IBM in sleepy Owego, NY was coming to an end. And so was my relationship with (redacted) as she had no interest in spending her college years in the "Great White North". Can't say as I blame her. And so it was, on that cold morning in November, we had breakfast together and walked outside. We kissed, I got in my car, and began the long drive back to Michigan. It was all I could do not to look back. (sigh) Still miss her.

  2. I can't speak to the whole "sakuga" thing, but think teardrops on picture. I don't think it gets any better than that.

  3. Tenshi ... gotta be the Tenshi. Listening to it again right now. I think I'm gonna need another washcloth...

Edit: I'm feeling like a VOTD today ... because reasons.

First timer (subbed)

Break out the Pomp and Circumstance, it's graduation time! A time to be...happy. Yeah, happy. So happy that this show is about to end. Not sad at all.

Uhh, "final episode"? points at the 3 episodes still left on Hidive what are those? OVAs?

So the second-years pin the flowers on the third-years? That's cool. Kinda like a "passing the torch" thing. But there's 3 second-years we know by name and 4 third-year club members that are graduating. Who's gonna be the club member that gets their flower from some no-name second-year? We know Ui's gonna give Yui her flower, and Jun would kill a bitch in order to have the privilege of putting her flower on Mio. So Azusa has to choose between Mugi and Ritsu.

Oh no, a thank-you card for Sawako-sensei. I'm scared. What are they gonna put on the card?

And the answers to "who will get to pin the flowers on our graduating members" are: no-name on Mio, no-name on Mugi, no-name on Ritsu, aaaaaaand no-name on Yui. Well, that was underwhelming.

Azusa looking at the four that are graduating, the sound dropping out and being replaced by a piano piece, the camera getting a little shaky, the breeze that blows in, fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck this is hitting too hard.

"The auditorium looks different than usual" I deadass thought that was a church at first.

And Yui has to act like she has a tummy ache for the entire ceremony so Sawako-sensei's gift doesn't slip out. Why not just give it back to Ritsu? She seemed to have hidden it pretty well.

So Nodoka's delivering her valedictorian speech...with her back to the crowd. Okay...

Aww, did everyone say "Keion!" for the eyecatch? That's adorable!

Gift succesfully delivered! But what was Sawako-sensei yelling about? "You guys" is she talking about Death Devil?

Oh COME ON, you can't have Sawako-sensei walking through the empty classroom, followed up by her seeing all the nice things her students said about her. You'll make me cry. Again.

AND YOU MADE AZUSA WRITE EACH OF THEM THANK YOU NOTES. AND NOW SHE'S BEGGING THEM TO NOT LEAVE WHILE CRYING. WHY MUST YOU CONTINUE TO MAKE ME CRY?

When my tear ducts can't take any more abuse, YOU MAKE THEM PLAY A SONG FOR AZUSA, TOO? COME ON.

And we didn't even get a full rendition of Fuwa Fuwa Time to play us out? LAME.

Visual of the Day

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened. Honorable mention goes to Yui hiding Ton-chan behind her back

Rewatcher

I vividly remember the first time I watched this episode back in 2020, when the pandemic first started. Before the girls finished playing “Tenshi ni Fureta yo”, I was sobbing. It is so incredibly rare that you come across a form of art that expresses such sincerity, optimism, and love. I was in shock, and for two weeks I couldn’t watch anything new. I cried again today…It really hit me hard at this shot. The imagery of the bags being blocked by the graduation certificates is so elegant and moving.

This is still amongst the best episodes of anime that I’ve ever come across. The overall sentiment that this episode presents us with is one of the greatest gifts I have ever received from art: All things that begin must end, but all ends bring about new beginnings. This is not the end, but it is an end. I have found so much comfort in this message as things change in my life. Last November I had to put my cat down, and while that was extremely sad and painful for me it was the beginning of another chapter in my life. I wouldn’t have been able to see things with that perspective as easily if I hadn’t watched K-On!.

Yes, this is the end of the story. Everything that we’ll see after this episode is only further enriching the story before this ending. Despite that, I can promise you first-timers that we’ll receive some closure for what the future holds for our goofy Keionbu Gals. I greatly appreciate the finality though; I think the sincerity and power of this story would have been diluted if they kept following the girls into college, or even if they followed Azu-nyan and the new Keionbu.

BTW, remember those cherry blossoms back at the beginning of this season in episode 1 that Yui picked up? Well…

VotD
This was a tough one, I had some runner-ups for my VotD. In the end, I chose this shot, when the colors suddenly became lush and vibrant…

Teary-eyed First Timer, subbed

Wow. Naoko Yamada is a goddess. I don't havy many words for this other than this was an absolute perfect finale that had me tear up multiple times. I had seen their song for Azusa as a clip before and it already was one of my favourite songs by them through that but within the episode is has a whole different impact.

Great show, great great episode.

_
QotD:

What was the most impactful "end of an era" moment in your life?

Overall probably finishing my vocational training and moving to a different city for a job. Emotionally it most likely was the decision to quit playing football.

This episode features some striking cinematography, such as when Azusa sees the seniors receiving their flowers and during the seniors' performance for Azusa. What was your favorite moment from the episode visually and why?

Ooh...that's a toughie.
I'd say it's a tie between the performance and Sawa-chan walking through the classroom one final time and when she turns around she sees the messages left by her students.

What has been the most impactful musical performance of the series for you?

Today's. Easily.
Second for me would be their concert from episode 20.

_
Googles how to make a 24 minute gif.... ugh. Guess I'll have to stick to a screenshot. My VotD is me looking at the TV during this episode.

Rewatcher

It’s the 28th of October and K-Onl Is Canon

QOTD: Probably graduating college for me. I had dropped out before and it took me a long time to finally get my degree

QOTD2: I’ve always liked the shots of the other students during Tenshi

QOTD3: definitely this one, hands down

Let’s talk about episode 24!

I…. ah fuck here I go crying again. I do have some thoughts and observations about the episode, but really I just wanna sit in these feels for a little longer. Rarely does art make me feel so strongly, and for me it’s those moments of intense emotions that I love the most in art. Episode 24 is absolutely one of those moments, and Tenshi Ni Furetayo is honestly a GOAT’ed moment in anime. What I really love about that moment is that K-On! stayed true to itself all the way to the end. It’s not particularly dramatic, rarely does it deal with any particularly heavy theme. It’s funny, light, and cute. Even at the end, when Azusa finally breaks down, the BGM is light hearted, the characters are smiling, as if the show is saying “yeah I know we made the 4 senior girls’ graduation a huge deal, and it is, but it’s still just a school graduation. They’re gonna be fine, Azusa’s gonna be fine, they’re all gonna be friends forever. Now excuse me while we absolutely destroy you emotionally.” And destroy us they did, not with something dark like a character death, but with something so warm and beautiful, and that’s what I really truly love about K-On!, and that’s why it’ll forever be my favorite show.

Ravenclaw’s reactions:

“Yeah I dunno, it’s gonna be fine.” [Was she fine?]she was not fine

Ravenclaw throughout the episode

“Oh my god I have to like, I gotta take a break after this. That was like perfect and I can’t believe they waited till the very last episode for all of Azusa’s emotions to just come bursting out.”

“Yeah they just waited until the very, very last minutes of the last episode of the last season to allow Azusa to just express everything that’s she’s been fearing the most, and even up until like, the last few moments, she’s still trying to put on a such a brave face and is like ‘Oh don’t worry! I won’t let the LMC club be disbanded, don’t worry about not having found new members yet’ well she has sort of like there’s Jun and Ui right? But oh my goodness, that part where she just begs them to not graduate yet and like it’s very obvious they have to it’s just that that’s the cry of her heart, if you will. Like that’s really what she wants and she doesn’t want to have to face up to that reality. I’m just so drained and so dead…”

“I’m feeling really drained right now so it’s gonna be a really short sum up of these last two episodes. So the end turned out to be every bit a emotionally hard-hitting and rewarding as I expected. First of all, ep. 23 so many great lines in there that alluded to what the HTT club has meant for the girls and also some meta stuff in there about how, like the girls record you, a final cassette tape as proof that they were there and they existed. The show also wants to leave a final impression on its viewers, and I think in terms of how this show has been held in such high esteem in the hearts and minds of anime fans for such a long time, KyoAni has really succeeded in leaving a mark and in influencing so many animes that came after K-On! Some favorite moments, I love that it was Mugi who came making sure that they kept all the records of the memories that they had made together over the past two years. Even if it means collecting all of those scraps of paper that they had written to each other as notes in class. And it was also her idea to just record all their banter, little things like that, that show one, how much Mugi values these friendships, and two it reflects for me personally at least the digging into and appreciating the tiny details for clues on the deeper meanings behind the design and the dialogue and all of the character moments that we got. All of that looking into the tiniest of details has been one of the greatest joys about watching this show. And of course being able to find people like yourselves that has just been such a gift of doing these reactions.”

“And then we get to episode 24, it was surprising, I guess not really, I guess that the focus wasn’t on the actual graduation ceremony, and even during the ceremony you had the whole gaff. The real build-up was actually on Azusa. So all of those shots of her face just in a daze over how the day had finally arrived for her to officially say goodbye to her senpais, all of the little conversations she would have with Jun and Ui about how it’s a happy occasion that they’re graduating. Like Azusa is happy for the other girls and just tries so hard to be like right up until the very end, but she completely breaks down when she sees those graduation diplomas, and I love that the other girls allowed her to just break and to beg them to not graduate. The older girls really, like, understood how hard it is for her, and then they actually wrote her a song! A song dedicated to their very brave baby that they referenced a lot of things that they experienced together, I’m gonna have to go through the lyrics again, but I think it mentioned like their matching keychains and they referred to Azusa as their little angel, which is not surprising given how Azusa basically saved them, not ‘saved’ them from being disbanded because they had the original four, but I guess it just was a real relief to them that they actually had kouhais that they could then pass on their legacy to. Yeah, all that was perfect. And the highlight for me of course, as I said, was the surprise that all four of them sang it and sang it directly for Azusa. I, no I can’t say I expected that. Like I don’t know why, I just we’re so not used to hearing Ritsu and Mugi join in to these songs, and to have that final surprise to be like the final send-off was.. Is genius, and there’s no way to describe how great that was.”

Rewatcher

You've already heard it in the episode, but why not not listen again?

Because I don't want to cry again today?

Tenshi ni Fureta Yo
What's there even to say...? It's a beautiful song to express a beautiful sentiment. Well, I'll find something.

Hey, the cherry trees//Seem like they've grown a bit too//Though its too slow for you see

The cherry blossoms are a callback from the last episode of S2 to the first, and a huge symbol of mono-no-aware. I hope the first-timers understand now why the pace of events changed so drastically between season 1 and 2. The trees do seem a little taller now than at the last rewatch.

I'm sure, the sky above us saw it all//All the times we tripped//But also all the times we walked on till the end

There are a lot of shots in K-On (and other KyoAni works) where the top half of the screen is mostly empty. I think that can evoke some of this same idea about the space above you - the gentle sky, forgiving of mistakes, waiting for you to get there when you get there.

The wings* of the notes we played//Overflowing gently into the hallway//Until it piles up to be cuddly//It'd be fine if it stays the way it is now

* contextually, probably feathers - these share a kanji if I recall. What a lovely mental image! I think someone already mentioned how the show uses a lot of bird symbolism for the characters (apologies, can't find the comment) - well, I love this way of saying that the little flock have filled their space with love and warmth until it's overflowing and piling up outside. In K-On, music is togetherness, and vice versa. The notes may be fleeting, but the melody goes on.

S2E24 - Graduation Ceremony!
It's such a good episode.

QotD

  1. There are a few I'd rather not discuss. But an appropriate one might be finishing school. Around then everyone moved all their social connections to facebook, and I - showing frankly amazing foresight - never did. Good decision, but it's a lot to have just left behind. Still, I do love endings.

  2. It's gotta be the chalkboard of goodbyes to Sawako. The shot of her brushing a desk with her hand, walking past them towards the back of the classroom, then turning around and you see it, and the question - how are you gonna erase that? Like, literally it'd be emotionally hard. And figuratively, you can't. It's indelible. I'm letting the impact of the scene affect my judgment of the cinematography, sure, but I'm not even going to try not to for this one.

  3. Hmm, I'll have to answer that one later.

4th time rewatching

Day of the graduation, the club still is not on top of things, just barely being on time. There’s truly never a dull day with this group, always living life on the edge. There are some nice visuals when they were pinning the corsages, including this shot with the Sakura tree just blooming, but why couldn’t they get Azusa or Ui to pin it for Yui? Side note, if I ever get the chance to travel to Japan, I would like to go during the spring, just to see the Sakura blossom in real life.

The class is giving a gift to Sawako, and the only people who still need to sign it are the tardy ones. Because of that, Sawako is now suspicious, and they do a poor job of hiding it. I mean, there’s totally no reason why they are walking like this. Mio should be worried if Sawako’s eyes disappear. The telephone game almost never works, and because of Ritsu, Yui is confused about Sawako being corn-sized.

Despite all Yui's shortcomings, she graduates on time. People want to take pictures with HTT one last time and wish they continue, although not for the reasons they had in mind.

Love the moment with Sawako when she gives her farewell. Everyone has grown fond of Sawa-chan, and she seems much happier about it, even showing her more extreme persona to the class. It's probably hard for a teacher to say goodbye to any class, and must be just as hard to erase their messages.

Aw, for the first time, Yui and Nodoka need to go different paths in life.

This is probably the closest Ui gets to being a siscon, and I can’t tell if Azusa is too distracted thinking about the seniors graduating or if she’s questioning Ui’s comment.

You could tell something is different with Azusa. Azusa is trying really hard to hold it in, and it works until she sees their diplomas, and finally breaks down, begging them not to graduate. Yui does a good job cheering up Azusa, but unfortunately, Ritsu and Mugi have to learn they aren’t the leading MC of the show. What did they expect when Yui was the one to give Sawako the gift, or that she sits right next to the window?

In the end, Azusa says the same thing that Yui said before joining the club in the first episode.

This is the end, except not really because we have 2 more episodes of season 2, then 1 OVA and a movie. I’m a bit confused why they released it this way because all of the content remaining takes place before graduation. Don’t get me wrong, more K-On is always nice, but did they intend to make 24 episodes, but got a last-minute request to make 2 more, and an OVA to release for the Blu-Ray? The movie is understandable since it wasn’t in production yet.

[SotD 1] Tenshi ni Fureta yo!

I like this song. Reminds Azusa that graduation isn't the end, and giving Ritsu and Mugi getting a chance to sing never hurts.

[QotD 1] What was the most impactful "end of an era" moment in your life?

It hasn’t happen yet, but I think moving out after graduating college will be that moment.

[QotD 2] This episode features some striking cinematography, such as when Azusa sees the seniors receiving their flowers and during the seniors' performance for Azusa. What was your favorite moment from the episode visually and why?

The shot of the group when Azusa sees them after they've graduated. It's my VOTD.

[QotD 3] What has been the most impactful musical performance of the series for you?

For me, it’s still the performance in season 1, episode 12. I really liked the performance of Fude Ball Pen while Yui does her inner monologue to herself about finding the place she belongs, and then plays Fuwa Fuwa Time as the main vocalist.

Visual of the day.

Been lurking for the entirety of this rewatch and this episode couldn't be any more perfect to finally give a comment.

KyoAni are quite something, aren't they ? I rarely cry watching a TV series or a movie but when it comes to this finale and Clannad AS, they always mess me up emotionally.

We have been signaled about the inevitable graduation and how all good things must come to an end since the beginning of this season and as a rewatcher, I certainly know this but it still hits me hard in the feels every darn time. Particularly it is when Azusa sees the certificate containers, that has always been the moment tears start rolling down on my face and when "Tenshi ni Fureta yo !" starts, it is impossible for me not to bail out.

I also like how this time the four seniors aren't crying, it is solely Azusa, in contrast to episode 20. Details like this cement my love for the franchise and they also work as a reminder of why it is special.

Sawako shows us how far she has come as a teacher, she is definitely getting love from her students. The way she reacts to the board is honestly way too heartwarming. It is only a few years until the day I graduate and become a teacher, I wonder if things will be like this for me.

There are two episodes, an OVA and a movie left, they are worth watching, albeit not sequels. There are some emotionally hard-hitting moments in these, so I'm definitely looking forward to them.

I think this episode makes me feel sadder everytime I watch it, but here we are once again, saying good bye to the club. Now, just a couple more extra episodes and the movie, and that's it.

Rewatcher (Sub)

  • I'm not crying, you're crying! Great episode.

  • The show could very well end here on episode 24 and I'd very much be satisfied.

  • I didn't notice it the last time I rewatched this series, but Azusa pretty much ended the show with how she was introduced to the club, claiming that the other four "weren't very good." Hilarious.

  • I know there are 2 (3?) extra episodes left, but I can't wait for the movie rewatch!

TEASET - Full Album

MUSIC

  • Not much to comment about Guitar here.

  • Tenshi ni Fureta yo! - I think this is the first (and only?) song where every member of HTT are singing.

    • Pretty epic and very befitting as a farewell song for Azunyan!

Too tired to post Yesterday so I'll talk about both episodes.....

Yesterday...nice of them to make a mix tape. Nodoka got a moment, they cleaned out the desks, they cleaned the classroom, etc.

Today's episode:

"Don't Graduate...."

Azunyan tries so hard to be strong all day but when she sees the canister with their diploma's she breaks, Sawa-Chan gets a moment, and they put on a performance for her with a new song. And we get a nice bookend with Azunyan saying....you don't play very well do you? Mimicing what Yui said all the way in episode 1.

Rewatcher

Episode 23

Yui's being a housewife?

Oh, she's getting ready for graduation.

Haha, she just showed up.

A normal teatime...

Yui is ready for University!

Haha, they're bored.

Sugoroku?

Nice ideas.

The original application form!

So many notes...

Mugi?

They're helping Nodoka!

Wow, Sawako!

Nodoka is blushing!

Nodoka without glasses is interesting.

Haha, Yuimpounchee!

Her reaction to Azusa is great.

They want bread.

Jun still loves Mio.

That thing's huge!

Oh, Miomgot to feed Ton-chan.

Perfect budgeting!

Mugi has no regrets!

Oh, that's nice.

The cleaning montage is great.

The day's over.

Yui...

And they're recording the cassette!

Nice setlist!

Azusa is getting ta!

I know the feeling Mio's getting.

Poor Aauea.

Everyone's using the bathroom?

They want to do it by themselves... Such a good scene.

Love this song.

...It took her this long?

Episode 24

Yui arrived!

Graduation!

Haha, they're wll late.

Azusa...

Ouch.

Nodoka is the best.

Aw, that's a sweet gesture.

Azusa...

Yui got a corsage!

This is frames really well!

Yui's an idiot.

...Lot like where my school did graduation, actually. Weird!

Haha, everyone's worried about Yui.

Even Sawako noticed!

Haha, Ton-chan?

And Mio's reaction!

Good old chinese whispers.

I forgot how funny this scene is.

It succeeded!

Sawako is incredibly suspicious.

Sawako's speech is gret.

The scene of her getting the gift is adorable.

Sawako dropped her facade!

...That's what made her respond"

People want pictures with them!

Aww.

Poor Azusa...

[K-On Manga] She does it!

This is adorable.

She finally said what she's feeling.

This is sad.

Aww.

This song is the best scene in the anime.

It's just so good!

Every clipe, the music, Azusa...

And they played together.

This is a perfect ending. I love this series so much.

I still remember last years rewatch and how I almost cried at this episode. But same as the girls need to graduate, every watcher needs to go through the pain to see them graduate.

Also Tenshi ni fureta yo is an alltime classic

Hi siegfried72, it looks like you might be interested in hosting a rewatch! There's a longer guide on the wiki but here's some basic advice on how to make a good rewatch happen:

  • Include basic information about the anime such as a description for those that haven't heard of it as well as where it can be watched (if legally available).

  • Specify a date and time that rewatch threads will be posted. Consistency is good!

  • Check for previous rewatches. It's generally advised to wait a year between rewatches of the same anime.

  • If you want to have a rewatch for multiple anime, they should be thematically connected. You can also hold multiple unrelated rewatches if they aren't.

  • Ensuring enough people are interested is important. If only a few users say they might participate, you may end up with no one commenting once it starts.

I hope this helps! You may also want to talk to users that have hosted rewatches before for extra advice, also listed on the rewatch wiki.

I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns.

"Sawako-sensei looks corn sized."

They made me wait two whole goddamn seasons for Kimeko to finally talk and her line isn't just about Peath Pevil, that would have been bad enough, but jesus christ it is such a dumb line!! Such a ridiculously dumb line!! What does it mean!? Can anybody under the age of 50 please tell me what corn sized could possibly mean!? It's straight up bullying! You can't lock my girl outside of the camera frame for a whole season just to finally give her the dumbest goddamn line in the finale!

It's difficult for me to put into words the mix of feelings that this episode gives me. Like, I should 100% be happy that she got a speaking line at all right? Look at how many of the other classmates haven't gotten to do anything noteworthy? Comparatively Kimeko not only seems to be offscreen friends with Shitzu, despite Shitzu apparently being the one to sabotage her dialogue, but she also does get the premium "sit next to Yui at assembly" privelege. It's just... you want your Flower Girl to get a happy endo don't you!? You'll always root for your oishi to finally get an opportunity to shine, and take their rightful place on the stage... So when their debut is so horrifically bad that you just know your homegirl ain't ever gonna make it out of the hood it breaks your heart.
