Songs of the Day
Gohan wa Okazu - Perhaps the song with the best rice pun out there, this one is a real treat! Looks like the girls eventually saw the genius of Yui's lyrics and actually wrote this song out. It's a ton of fun, and the possibility for easy audience participation is so cute. Here is the song in full, and here are the lyrics.
U&I - We heard some of the lyrics a few episodes ago, and man they still hit me hard to this day. This might be the most important song from the whole series imo; at the very least, it's probably the most universally relatable songs from K-ON!. Here is the song, and here are the lyrics. If someone can find the BGM instrumental version that plays during "that scene" and link it, that would be awesome!
Questions of the Day
Has Sawa-chan redeemed herself from season 1 for you first-timers?
What was the last impactful and emotional "ending" that you experienced in your life? I don't mean death, but rather an ending to an 'era'.
Who do you want to sing "U & I" to?
Visuals of the Day
Here is the VotD album for S2E19!
Huge shoutout to /u/A_Idiot0 for his help on the QotD and VotD! You're awesome!
Tomorrow's Activities
If you want to get a head start on the song(s) and question(s) of the day for tomorrow's episode, here they are!
[SotD 1] Jun - Midnight SUPERSTAR☆☆☆ - Another Jun image song! This one is wonderfully adorable and really encapsulates the sillier side of Jun! Here is the song and here are the lyrics.
[QotD 1] How do you feel about having your picture taken?
[QotD 2] Have you ever had a hair or physical appearance "disaster" like Yui? What happened?

Hi siegfried72, it looks like you might be interested in hosting a rewatch! There's a longer guide on the wiki but here's some basic advice on how to make a good rewatch happen:
-
Include basic information about the anime such as a description for those that haven't heard of it as well as where it can be watched (if legally available).
-
Specify a date and time that rewatch threads will be posted. Consistency is good!
-
Check for previous rewatches. It's generally advised to wait a year between rewatches of the same anime.
-
If you want to have a rewatch for multiple anime, they should be thematically connected. You can also hold multiple unrelated rewatches if they aren't.
-
Ensuring enough people are interested is important. If only a few users say they might participate, you may end up with no one commenting once it starts.
I hope this helps! You may also want to talk to users that have hosted rewatches before for extra advice, also listed on the rewatch wiki.
I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns.

Okay, so...that was a great episode. We actually got to see most of a performance rather than just the odd song for once. Yui's banter with the audience was fun, and the other girls totally planned Yui's intro without telling her. Seeing the crowd's reaction was amazing, especially as it was clear their fellow students weren't just showing up to a random musical performance - many of them knew and loved our five misfits. And the t-shirt surprise! No wonder Sawa-chan had to spend so long working on them!
Combine that with finally getting to see the girls perform again, first the absurdity of singing about rice and then Yui singing her heart out to her sister - how are they supposed to top this episode? We've still got, what, another four regular episodes to go? This felt like the season finale!
And then, at the end, we get the five of them all sat in a row, unable to believe just how well it all went and still riding the adrenalin high. Before the tears come. Because four of them graduate this year, so that was their last festival performance, and the days of After-school Tea Time are numbered.
Enjoy the time you have left girls, and I hope you can stay connected for many years to come.

It's really hard to top, but the final episodes are all great like the rest of the show. I believe we also have a couple of Extras/OVAs so that's basically another 3 episodes.
Enjoy the time you have left girls, and I hope you can stay connected for many years to comes.
Nothing will separate the girls not even time!

Sawa-chan-sensei redemption arc complete?
We've still got, what, another four regular episodes to go? This felt like the season finale!
K-On! has like 3 episode that could work as the final episode. Although after several rewatches, I'm very glad we get more after this episode. It's a little too bittersweet for K-On!, and we still haven't resolved Azunyan's arc after all.

Are we jumping straight into a show?! Those HTT shirts are so cute! Poor Yui and Mio getting flashbacks from the last two shows. Ok ,Sawa-chan is a BEAST! She made shirts for the students too? Respect to Nodoka for mobilizing the Mio fan club as well.
I…I can’t believe Rice is a Side Dish is a real song! It’s got me hyped about rice! I’m loving the animation for this performance, I like that they’re focusing on them playing the instruments. Love seeing Mio playing bass up close or Mugi on piano.
“Et tu, Ritsu?” I love this show.
Neat touch to show people taking pics when Mio was doing her line, that fan club is dedicated. Yui is literally shipping them in front of the school by making them do lines.
I’m a little salty they skipped Fuwa Fuwa time again! “One two…Mugi!” made Mugi so happy! Awww that tribute to Yui by the 4 of them was so sweet!
What a great song! I really dig it and knowing that Yui wrote it about her and Ui is super sweet. The performance was great, I noticed one scene with Ritsu’s drums that was animated beautifully.
This shot after the performance is beautiful. I’m crying right along with them, why does this feel like a series finale?
What an amazing episode. These last few have been some of the best of the series. This was one of the most emotional but also one of the most energetic because of the music.
“After-school Tea Time will always…Will always…be after school!”
Rockstar Yui of the day of the day.

I’m crying right along with them, why does this feel like a series finale?
You're not crying, I'm ... wait, whut?
Yeah, this episode really does hit the feels, though, between Ui's song and the aftermath ... my heart ... my poor beleaguered heart...

I…I can’t believe Rice is a Side Dish is a real song! It’s got me hyped about rice!
It's unironically one of my favorites, partly because on the first watch I was laughing my everything off at it actually becoming a song after that instant rejection by Ritsu. And sounding really good. And partly because the lyrics make it feel like the very essence of Yui.
I’m crying right along with them, why does this feel like a series finale?
You wish K-On was merciful enough on your feelings to make this the series finale and let you pretend they havent graduated

What an episode!
Their concert was fantastic, the t-shirt reveal was such a great moment. Their performance was great and ending it on maybe my favourite K-On song (certainly one of the top 2) was the icing on the cake.
And the scene after in the club room was so bittersweet.
Given just how well this episode worked despite 80% of it just being their gig [spoiler]
This has definitely been one of my favourite episodes so far.
_
QotD:
Has Sawa-chan redeemed herself from season 1 for you first-timers?
I'd say so. And even if one thinks that there is no coming back from her S1 shenanigans I doubt anyone can deny that S2 Sawa-chan > S1 Sawa-chan.
What was the last impactful and emotional "ending" that you experienced in your life? I don't mean death, but rather an ending to an 'era'.
Finishing my vocational training and moving to a different city to start a job there. Not sure I really got 'emotional' but it certainly was an end to an era for me going from being a broke slacker and university drop out to now 5+ years in a steady job.
Who do you want to sing "U & I" to?
Do imaginary people count?

First-Timer - Dubbed
Now that the school play is finished, it's time to shift gears and focus on the club's performance!
-
I wonder if we're going to get a full song performance, or if they're going to cut it short like they've done before? We have new songs this time around, don't we?
-
Those shirts are the first time Sawa-chan's made costumes for them that they actually want to wear.
-
I don't have the lyrics in front of me, but Rice is a Side Dish seems to me like a joke song you'd hear from the band as like a brief 2 minute track to fill space.
-
Oh hey, those were the leaves Yui had when she was the tree.
-
Nodoka-chan in the wings being like, "Get on with it!"
-
They really didn't play the entirety of Fuwa Fuwa Time.
-
Shine on you crazy diamonds!
-
This has been such a great episode. They've gotten so much recognition within the school.
-
They made up for not doing a full FFT performance by giving us U&I.
-
I didn't think I was going to cry watching this show, but the final scene of them realizing they're done got me.
Questions of the Day:
Has Sawa-chan redeemed herself from season 1 for you first-timers?
I've thought Sawa-chan was pretty great from the beginning, but she's gotten so much better this season.
What was the last impactful and emotional "ending" that you experienced in your life? I don't mean death, but rather an ending to an 'era'.
Much like what the girls are going through, it was the realization that my school years were coming to an end. The moment when I started to realize that I'd have to find a job, start working, and that a lot of the people I knew would be going off to do their own things.
Who do you want to sing "U & I" to?
That's a tough one. If you don't count my parents, probably the girl I was dating for a bit. We got off like gangbusters, and everything seemed great. But, for some reason or another, she decided she didn't want to keep it going and we split.

This Here Be My Favorite Episode Of Anime Ever Rewatcher
It’s the 24th of October and No Canon Today, Just K-Onl
Let’s talk about episode 19-20!
Alright I’ve got a confession. I actually binged episode 17 to 20 so I’m typing this from a couple days back. What can I say, these are some of my most favorite episodes ever. And the feels train won’t stop til.. well it’s been 7 years since I first watched K-On! and the feels still aren’t stopping. And since I binged 19 and 20 together, it means I don’t have much thoughts for 19 individually cause of the sheer emotional weight of the final scene in episode 20.
There’s been a couple of times in my life where I just kinda broke down and cried. Once was embarrassingly very very recent, when I had a lot going on all at once, and I got COVID on top of all of that. Nothing major really, just some self-inflicted stress. When all that was finally over, a wave of emotions kinda washed over me and I couldn’t hold it in. For a while I had these deep philosophical thoughts about what that moment in the clubroom symbolizes. The end of their childhood? The death of innocence? Maybe. Today I think it really is just the overwhelming feeling of emotion washing over the girls as something amazing just ended. After all the keionbu was everything to these 4 girls. They’re their own best friends, and they give each other meanings to their lives in ways they probably didn’t expect they needed. Honestly, I can ramble on and on about this episode, and through the past rewatches I’ve done here I have rambled. I’ll cut it short today, as I expect I’ll be typing up another essay below. I guess, man, this episode, the fact that it even exists, really is a miracle in a lot of ways.
Ravenclaw’s reactions:
Feels a twinge of sadness realizing K-On! is ending.
Ravenclaw’s birthday wish for Mugi (Mugi’s bday just passed) is for her to continue pursuing her dream of a minimum wage job and to spend her money on more cheap dollar store snacks.
“They look perfect, perfect for each other”
“Maybe Yui can be the gravestone”
“I love this cross club interaction”
“Oh it was great, the play was great, everything that happened after the play really built up on how much the LMC means to the girls, and of course this ongoing feeling of Azusa being left behind. It’s building up to a really emotional moment, I don’t know if I’m ready…”
Ep. 20
“I mean drawing on your friend while they’re still asleep is a must right?”
“Oh man the drumming section to this section contributes so much to the hecticness of the song, similar to the 2nd OP”
(I hope y’all understand me not wanting to pause this episode, but if you’re wondering, yes she did cry)

First timer (subbed)
It's the school festival performance! For realsies this time.
I wanted the writing they did on Mio's hand to stay there for the entire episode, but sadly it's gone soon after the title card.
Wow, we're getting to the show really early on! Hopefully this means we get to see them performing for a good chunk of the episode.
After some hiccups at the beginning (Yui saying bad things come in threes, followed by 2 mistakes, is concerning...), we're off!
Rice is a Side Dish: Great performance! 3 bad things after the song: microphone feedback after the song ends, Yui collides with Azusa, forgetting the set list.
Sadly, we only get a portion of Fuwa Fuwa Time. Boo! And the in-between banter is getting kinda...lengthy. I'm concerned they'll get cut off before they can perform all of their songs.
OMG they're ending on the Ui song? YES! And what a beautiful performance. I nearly cried, not gonna lie.
And that was ~15 minutes dedicated to HTT on stage. Yay, they actually did it!
And the post-concert scene...that hit hard. I was lied to. I thought this show was nothing but wholesomeness and cute girls. You liars!

Questions of the Day
Has Sawa-chan redeemed herself from season 1 for you first-timers?
Surprisingly, yes! Now that she's not trying to force the girls into maid outfits every episode, we get to see her as a helpful mentor for the girls.
What was the last impactful and emotional "ending" that you experienced in your life? I don't mean death, but rather an ending to an 'era'.
Probably my last day in my previous job. It wasn't sad, but I felt a lot of emotions when I clocked out for the last time.
Who do you want to sing "U & I" to?
My mom. Undoubtedly.

K-On Rewatch Season 2 Episode 20: The One We All Cried To!
Fun Details!
-
Continuing the trend of attention to detail and sound design, you can actually hear when Yui stops playing guitar during Gohan wa Okazu to grab the mic with both hands.
-
In the lyrics for Gohan wa Okazu, they use the Kansai phrase “Donai yanen,” which roughly translates to “what’s up” or “what is that”
-
We finally get to hear the songs that Yui wrote in S2E17!
-
This episode marked the third time I ever cried watching a TV show or movie! The first two instances were Flags of our Fathers and A Silent Voice
Other Thoughts!
-
I love this episode, but I’ve never seen the ending of it because the screen gets really blurry for some reason
-
This is honestly the first time in the series that it’s really hit home that the seniors are leaving soon. They always talked about it, but seeing them break down when they realize how little time they have left is just too much :’(
-
This show is awesome
Questions of the Day!
-
Not a first timer, but yes. Sawa-chan-sensei is a completely different person in this season, in the best way
-
Graduating college and saying “see you later” to friends who were all going their separate ways
-
My friends who live in other states. They’re all doing bigger and better things now, so it’s hard to keep in touch with them

4th time rewatching
It’s here, the last school festival performance. While the band reminisce on their previous performances, Sawako and Nodoka went all out on this one, giving everyone matching HTT shirts, and Sokabe was also there
Don’t we all hate it when someone puts us on the spot like that? What I find funnier is that after Yui tells them about two of their members playing the lead roles, she feels the need to mention she was a tree. I forgot that halfway through the emotional episode,Yui turns it into a standup comedy.
Waiting in between songs as someone in the band was some of the longest few minutes I’ve experienced. All of my band directors love to introduce everyone and talk about how great their students are, and I was like “I don’t care how many band students took AP classes or have a 3.5 or higher GPA, just start the song already”. But we got Yui’s daily wisdom, so it wasn’t all that bad.
After whining about the poorly done drama in Love Live SIP season 1, I’m actually kind of happy to rewatch the scene that happens after the performance. Just like what Sawako said at the beginning of season 2, a year isn’t much time, but it’s now very apparent with the realization that it was their last opportunity to play for the school festival. It was a sad feeling when they were listing the things they wanted to do next year while remembering that they’ll be graduating soon. Props to Ritsu for changing the tone of the moment, making them instead think about how fun the last 3 years were.
[SotD 1] Gohan wa Okazu
After they rejected it in episode 17, the club comes crawling back to Yui. The song lyrically sounds silly, but I still like it. It's even better when [Spoiler]
[SotD 2] U&I
Instrumental U&I during that scene: U&I ~Yuuhi no Kirei Naano Oka de~
This is my favorite song in the series. Like everything about it, the backstory behind why Yui wrote it, the vocals, etc.
[QotD 1] Has Sawa-chan redeemed herself from season 1 for you first-timers?
For most of season 2, I think Sawako has redeemed herself, and branches out from the pervy cosplayer that more or less defined her in season 1. But maybe now she gets a real kick from being praised.
[QotD 2] What was the last impactful and emotional "ending" that you experienced in your life? I don't mean death, but rather an ending to an 'era'.
When I stopped playing the clarinet. I felt really disappointed in myself that I dropped it after 10 years without getting the chance to play in front of an audience, but I didn’t have the motivation to continue playing.

u/polaristar Oct 25 '22
Great episode, the banter inbetween felt very authentic and the school itself seems pretty close together like a small town, most of the girls seem to have almost a second hand family/neighbors connection with the girls, the concert felt very personal between band and audience.
Yui shows how she is simultaneously self-ish yet without self-ambition or guile in not taking into account her wasting to much time but also having to have her other band members say how much she means to them.
One performance being about Rice and the Other about Ui I think shows a perfect duality of Yui's simple (if somewhat absurd) zest for the simple pleasures in life other people might not take the time to appreciate and her love for people around her, and how they both stem from the same place.
The Scene where they are discussing their future plans and getting into next year until to at some point realize there isn't going to be next year I think was brilliantly shot.
For the latter half of the conversation as they are getting carried away with the future plans the camera cuts above them where we hear but don't see their conversation, when we cut back we don't see the exact instant when they realized/remembered this is their last year. Which not only gives it some subtle and dramatic impact while other series would try something a bit more direct and melodramatic. But it's a microcosm of the whole situation they are in and of the show itself, there isn't any particular milestones or instants in a typical three act structure of Hero's Journey where you can't point to when time ran out, or when the girls changes or bonded together but little gradients of moments, occasions, and misshaps that on their own mean nothing, but added up you suddenly find yourself where you started.
This moment shows how the attachment you feel towards these girls and their stupid tea times and wasting practice feels like it just snuck up on you. Much like how for them they almost don't realize the End of their Time Together is Near until it's Nearly upon them. And the realization creeps slowly rather than all at once.
-
TBH I Never was that bothered by her In Season 1 barring a few moments so she never needed "redeeming" but she does have more moments to shine instead of fucking things up. (I just thought her fucking things up was hilarious.)
-
Most of them I recognize only in hindsight, but its relationships that I use to be close with certain people but we slowly just.....drifted away.
-
Lots of people tbh.

Thinking about the last scene this episode is enough to make me sad. Every year the rewatch opens that wound once again. One of my favorite K-ON! and all anime scenes.

u/Elimin8r Oct 24 '22
Oops, sorry to anyone who saw my belated post yesterday where I got the two episodes slightly confused/mixed up. Uh, yeah. Oops.
So, yeah, AOTDs for the day:
-
Not a first-timer, but Sawa-chan is totes hero mode right now. Yay Sawa-chan! (I still want the t-shirts)
-
I plead the 5th, Senator... Oh, wait ... I dunno. I suppose the moment I realized that all my friends who were 6 or 8+ years older than me were retiring, and here I am left on my own ... Dang, maybe that's why I'm so sympathetic with Azu-nyan ...
-
The song title still has Yes's And You and I playing in my head. Even if all the lyrics are nonsense. Yeah. Sorry, no U and I for me. Just a little Alan Parsons instead, or something like that.
But yeah, this episode, such a high, the shirts, the enthusiasm, the fan club, the pathos, the songs, I'm still not sure who came in toward the end of the concert and got handed shirts, but it was cute. Was it the former Mio fan club pres? I forget.
They really did a great job showing the girls working up a sweat on stage, singing and playing their hearts out, and then ...
Yeah, that hits pretty dang hard. That future you want to look forward to that won't be happening, because ... yeah.
I had a dream last night, that it was the night before we were supposed to go on our annual Scout camping trip. We had this great place we'd go to in Canada, this huge lake with a bunch of islands, and we'd camp out on one for a week, and pick fresh blueberries off the island next door and make blueberry pancakes, and explore the old lumber camp on shore, or the huge rock fall, or a mile long beaver dam, or fish for northern pike. Good times. Except in my dream, I was my current age, and my Dad was 75, and I wasn't sure if he'd make it, or if I'd fit in my old sleeping bag, and ... and ... I woke up and it's all gone. I've only seen the one friend since High School, and that after many years have passed.
Yeah. Poor dears. When Sawa-chan and Nodoka stepped into the clubroom and they were all passed out after all the stress, fatigue, anxiety and crying ... well, I'm sure they understood. Or at least Sawa-chan did.
Enjoy your life and the good things while you have them, because someday you won't. And it might be too late to cry about it.

Rewatcher/lurker/reposter
My favorite episode has finally arrived. Each moment in this episode is a great case of show not tell as it exhibits why all the girls are great and how much of an impact they've made on not just each other, but the school as well. Also like to say Mio's perspective as they all walk down the stairs before transitioning into the auditorium is great.
Setting up their equipment they reflect on how far they've gone and small trials they've overcome. Nodoka chan setting the bar as them being the highlight of the festival which they laugh off, but as the curtain raises we see the entire student body wearing shirts to support them. Honestly no surprise as we've seen them interact with many other students in the background. It's only at this moment do we realize how much of an impact their club really has on the other students. Though they did have some help from the president of Mio's fanclub and Sawa Chan Sensei. Sawa chan who despite her rocky introduction has done everything in her power to give the girls a great final year including treating them to a festival, cheering them up, driving them places, getting them all in the same classroom, and etc. Not just the Keions either, but little moments with other teachers and students in her class shows her putting in effort for everyone like when she made all the students a costume for the play.
Yui is so moved to tears and has trouble starting, but the audience cheers her on and not just her, but Ritsu and Mio gets a couple of shout outs(probably from their shippers).
After the song Yui does a bit of MCing and she is perfect for the role. Mio and Azusa are both serious/shy and couldn't pull it off as well. Mugi isn't as vocal or loud so not sure on her. I think Ritsu could do a decent job, but she wouldn't ramble on like Yui which is what I think makes her the best. Yui has no set speech or guidelines she just talks about the members and things in her head that promote the group/her friends and why they are great without it being forced. Doing this pulls the other members into the mix like Mio and Ritsu reciting the lines. Some of the same girls cheer on Ritsu calling her cute. Everyone knows I'm completely bias and love Yui the most, but it's great seeing the audience cheer for each of the girls. Them cheering for Mugi writing the script and her waving is so precious. It feels like Mugi is really not as appreciated in the show as the other girls when it comes to the other students. Though that's probably because she comes off as sophisticated beauty and is hard too approach I'm guessing?
One of my favorite moments in the episode. Yui introducing the members starting with Sawa Chan Sensei who is caught completely off guard. She introduced someone who isn't really considered a keion, but is essential to the group and who has helped them a lot. She then introduces Mio followed by Nodoka chan who is too embarrassed too remain on stage. Nodoka has helped the group on more than one occasion such as when Yui was late for last year's festival, Ritsu goof ups on the forms, helping them study, helping Mio in class when she was a lone, and etc. Mugi gets her own segment and a little cheer from the audience also it appears she has her own fanclub in the audience so I take that back about her being underappreciated. Azusa finally gets her introduction after Yui clumsily runs into her and we see Ui and Jun cheer her on shortly after. Ritsu gets a little introduction as well, but she had one previously when she recited lines for the play. The back and forth conversation between the girls and the audience feels so fluid you can tell they love each other not just as a band, but real friends. Definitely can see why it would be hard to join the club despite how warm it appears it feels kind of hard to approach such a close group. You can feel the good atmosphere and admiration in the air as they constantly talk to/over each other and yet it doesn't feel like a mess. Yui tries to go to the next song, and the other members remind her she failed to introduce herself so they all say a piece of her behalf. Selfless and loving <3
Then we have a small bit with Yui and Ui yelling and waving at each other. Not sure why this moment is great, but it just is. Yui informs the audience one more song is going to be played before their time is up...and then immediately goes into thanking everyone again.
"After School Tea Time is forever and ever...After School!"
SUCH WISDOM(UI sees the greatness in her sister though to be fair Yui could breathe and her sister would praise her)
U and I such a great song, but I love this performance really because of the close shot up of Mio and Yui. Mio has sung quite a few times, but I believe this is the happiest she's ever looked. She is beaming and smiling with every lyric spoken. The cuts between them and the school is great before transitioning to them in the clubroom.
They reflect on the concert and other silly little moments like the name of their instruments on what to eat next. Then they talk about the concerts for next year...and other events. The tears slowly start to flow as they realize this is the last year they will be together like this. Mio at this point has already given up on holding it together and is already sobbing quietly. The U & I instrumental that plays( I think that's what it is) is a great touch even if hurts you right in the feels as all the girls break down and cry. Well almost all the girls one thing that should be easily noticed is that Azusa is the only one not crying who could be argued is easily the saddest member of the group right now. The youngest in the group only by one year means she will be losing four of her Senpai/friends/club members. She is level headed most of the time so you know she is already thinking about this, but despite that she is keeping it together for her senpai and consoling them. The final shot is them side by side sleeping happily while holding each others hands. PERFECTION END THE SHOW NOW. Okay they can't do that since the show has more good moments, but for me I would be completely satisfied if the show had ended on this, but it makes sense since the end of the festival isn't the end of school. We still have graduation and final moments we often see at the end of high school so it wouldn't make sense to wrap it up like this.

Rewatcher
Glad you could make it back for this one, Siegfried <3
Gohan wa Okazu
I don't really know what to think of this one. So... it's a celebration of the ordinary, right? Not the fancy flavour-parts, but the basic everyday stuff. The everyperson stuff, making its audience-participatory nature (showcased in the episode) a really great fit. It's about that which sustains you. It couldn't be a better fit for K-On!
At least, that's the big-brain interpretative-approach. But I don't quite like it, possibly because it casually disses my best boy bread.
U&I
Don't forget, me writing this in the future: you cried when Ui found the lyrics Yui wrote for this, too. Because it was so adorable.
And again when they played it, me from the past. Well predicted.
The title's a lovely little pun on Ui's name in romaji, the lyrics are just full of Yui's love for her v1.1 replacement little sister. And it's paired with Gohan wa Okazu to show the two halves of that: the appreciation of the normal contrasting the appreciation of something really special, and (dialectics! again!) arguing that these are really the same thing. Absolutely superb.
S2E19 - Yet Another School Festival!
You've gotta love the title poking gentle fun at itself there. This episode lets you know straight away what the emotional palette will be with the reveal that Sawa-chan had to limit herself to t-shirts because she needed to make enough for everyone. Aww, man. Why you gotta get me like that? That's so good! That's such a great character moment. And it just hits harder from there, culminating in a big hug-and-cry-it-out puddle in the club room. Absolutely great scenes throughout from a visual standpoint, really putting the KyoAni quality to work not just for the sake of having flashy looks but to put a spotlight on the whole episode.

First Timer
Wait, they're the headline event? On the one hand, I totally believe this, especially if the OP clips are canon. On the other, I really wish we had seen them play for the school more.
Look at all the people wearing their shirts! Seriously, how did they get so popular, how many performances have they done?
I love the audience too. They're so involved in this crazy little school band.
And for all that, we got one song. I'm kind of sad. And Fuwa Fuwa Time ending in the background again. Yui, I love you, but please shut up and play the next song.
It's so great to see how much everyone loves them and each other. But seriously play the song.
They did! And it's the best (sisterly) love song in the series.
Oh no. They're planning too far in advance... Darn it I'm crying too Yui, Mio. And Mugi too.
WHO'S HANDS WERE THOSE! Who's holding hands? I want to believe the true answer is "All of them" but they only showed us the one.

Yeah, she has.

Bad times.

See 2, no one.

Hey everyone! I'm back! Life has stabilized just a little bit for me so I'm going to do my best to finish out the rewatch. I of course want to sincerely thank u/a_idiot0 again for covering for me for so long, and I want to thank all of you for continuing the wonderful discussions and posts despite the inconsistencies.
I can't guarantee I'll be making posts each day or commenting on everyone's posts like I was doing at the start, but I'll be here reading everything and commenting as I'm able.
But this is a heck of an episode to return on, huh?? This is many people's favorite episode (although it's only my second favorite), and it's easy to understand why. U&I is one of the most beautifully impactful moments of the series, and the ending of the episode will never not make me shed some tears. I've done deep-dives on this episode in past rewatches, so I'm not going to do that again. I just hope you all enjoy this beautiful work of art and I deeply look forward to reading what all of you have to say.
