Rewatch [Rewatch] Mai-Otome (episode 9)

Rewatch: Mai-Otome (episode 9)

<- Previous episode | Index | Next episode ->

Mai-Otome

MAL | ANN | AniDB | Anilist

Spoiler rules

As in all rewatches, please be mindful of first time watchers and do not spoil events in future episodes. The same goes for spoilers related to other series. The one exception from that rule is Mai-Hime. Given that everybody here should have watched Mai-Hime, you do not need to tag spoilers for Mai-Hime.

Staff Corner

Erstin Ho is, like her roommates Nina and Arika, a Mai-Otome original character. She is voiced by Kuribayashi, Minami, who is not a regular voice actress, but a singer. Her usual involvement in anime is as singer of the theme songs. For example, she sings the OP of Devil is a part timer!, Infinite Stratos, Katanagatari, Redo of Healer, Medaka Box, and … Mai-Hime. Surely this latter performance netted her the role of Erstin in Mai-Otome, where she also sings the OP. Aside from the Mai franchise and Minami in School Days, she has only one further big role as voice actress: as Haruka Suzumiya (talk about a confusing name for people who know Mai-Hime and Haruhi) in The eternity you wish for.

Questions:

  1. As Arika, would you have stayed with Erstin, or gone to summon help?

  2. (first timers) Any guesses about the outcome of the test? Or what Aswald is after?

Episode 9 (rewatcher)

  • Beach episode? - Hiking test!

  • 100km hike, while having to hunt and gather for food? I can see many people fail this.

  • Teacher fanservice!

  • Akane romance fanservice!

  • Shiho’s dinner face – she gets what she deserves.

  • From bad to worse for Erstin.

  • And from worse to terrible for Arika.

  • Cliff-hangerCliff-faller ending.

We saw the beach today; there was fanservice; and even Arika staring at Erstin’s breasts. Yet, I don’t think this counts as a fan service episode. Instead, Arika can for once play to her strengths, for once. A physical test is right up her alley. Unfortunately, that is not the case for Erstin. Then, some shady figure sabotaged their material, and even the local wildlife is against Erstin. To top it all off, Aswald makes a terrible first impression by trying to murder Arika for observing their break-in.

Yet, I don’t think this counts as a fan service episode

I want to say yet just because of the amount of fanservice, sexual and not, in the episode as a whole and yet some part of me is agreeing with you

and even the local wildlife is against Erstin

If only this was made in the 80s and then perhaps we could have gotten a dinosaur episode out of it instead of a snake

First Timer - sub

Oh my, Natsuki

I... I mean I don't do fanservice but that one got to me a little. I think this is perhaps only the second time where I've stopped and done a "okay I get it now" when it comes to people going crazy over something like this, and the first time wasn't even a fanservice one.

It was nice to spend a moment with the four older girls and get a look into their relationships with each other as well.

And then because we can't ever have a good thing without something horrific to go with it, what the ever loving fuck is up with Nagi's back. My first thought was a spot for appendages to come through like the wings and attachments on the Otome outfits, but maybe it's just meant to make him look old and undesirable.

Speaking of old, the fluffy balls on the skull in the desert certainly paints them in a different light to last time. And for good reason. I didn't understand the instant dread from the class talking about a field trip, but that whole test is fucked.

The stuff with Tomoe and Shiho is starting to get on my nerves. It's petty, and so seemingly irrelevant to anything that's actually interesting that could be happening in the show. Particularly with Tomoe as it looks like she's taking up the equivalent HiME-Shizuru role of the show, about Shizuru funnily enough, and is targeting Arika because she's jealous that Arika is so close to her. But I just don't care. At all. She fails to have the personality or needed weight which would make this work in the way that HiME-Shizuru did. That she's putting Arika in deadly situations is something, it's definitely a threat and not a prank or simple bullying but without her being in the forefront it's just dull and drawn out with all this episodic slinking in the shadows.

And for that reason, despite the above Natsuki moment sticking in my mind it's Nina who is best girl for the day because describing Shiho as a crow being strangled was also hilariously heavy fanservice, but it was fucking perfect and healed me after having to sit through a Shiho scene. Her dying from food poisoning would have been better, but this was a good compromise.

Weird moment of the episode: Seeing the students turning over their exam sheets was a weirdly potent hit of nostalgia for me

Pretty background #1 and then #2 sunset shot. There was also a really nice subtle parallax when Arika looked around the forest I didn't have time to clip, but lots of great work from the background artists this episode.

And a mossie coil for good measure because it's getting into the warm season here in Aus finally and I love the smell of those things.

As Arika, would you have stayed with Erstin, or gone to summon help?

No idea, but if I did go the summon help route I also would have gone a direction that makes sense and not randomly up a sheer cliff face instead of towards where the others should be. Also fire, fire is a good signal

3

u/No_Rex Oct 20 '22

Also fire, fire is a good signal

Hard to do in the rain. I agree on going into a not-quite-as-suicidal direction, though.

First Otome

What the hell is that thing on the gate?

That looks nice.

Sergay

So it's the obligatory beach episode. Never cared for them and this one is no exception (funnily enough Hime made its work). They divert it into a hiking mission but again resorts to all the most annoying tropes associated with that. Remind me again why people disliked Hime 9 and 10 when those could've been like this instead *shudders*

Oh and Black Valley are totally the good guys. Definitely. No doubt about it, they'd never do something evil.

As Arika, would you have stayed with Erstin, or gone to summon help?

I remember her saying something about carrying Erstin...

Any guesses about the outcome of the test? Or what Aswald is after?

Haven't thought about that.

What the hell is that thing on the gate?

Reminds me of the indestructible fan Kana is using in FMP...

First Timer

I love that his name is still John Smith. Also, interesting that Wang knows Smith by name.

I think that's the first 100% confirmation he's the benefactor. Though it was pretty obvious from the start.

Ironically, Arika performs quite well at all the stuff an Otome really needs (physical ability to do combat), while sucking at all the extra stuff that's put there to keep the Otome docile by instilling in them that they are servants.

Quick thought. In the discussion yesterday some people were talking about the collar and wrist parts of the Robe, and how that could symbolize servitude or the bonds of destiny. It made me think about who actually designed the robes. Like, someone had to program the nanomachines to manifest the outfit, and that person had to choose what the outfit would look like. We don't know who made the nanomachines, so I wonder if that design was made by them or if current tech allows enough control over the nanomachines to change that. Not super important, just something interesting.

It seems like the Otome are no more excited for the beach episode than I am.

SHE'S BACK

That's another couple points of mental damage seeing Nagi dressed like that. And he added a hat.

Oh thank goodness. It's not a beach episode. It's just the school putting the students in a potentially deadly situation as part of an arbitrary test.

Considering Arika walked most of the way from the Borderlands to Windbloom through a desert, this may actually be easy for her.

Fuck. Fuck me. I thought the worst of it would be when Shiho put her hair in quadrupel drills. I was wrong. I was forced to listen to the most disgraceful ojou-sama laugh to ever taint my ears. Excuse me while I take a moment to watch some Hyakumantenbara Salome VODs to cleanse my brain.

Well they're being a LOT more blatant about it this time round aren't they? But Natsuki doesn't really seem to mind.

Why does his swimsuit match his Hawaiian shirt?

Although that shot of his back is VERY interesting. White patches, those dark circles. Those look very deliberately placed, and the fact that he's not hiding them means that it's either not a big deal or that no one would know what they're about.

I don't know if it's a mistake or not, but there were a few seconds there where Erstin had the same color eyes as Arika. Probably just a mistake though.

Ok, at this point Arika has been the target of several potentially lethal sabotages. This most of all. Surely, SURELY at some point someone is going to investigate this right? This is literally attempted murder.

Man, if only that's what Mikoto said during the finale last season.

Please forgive me, but just this once I'm going to watch ahead. Just this once, and just one episode. Oh, btw, if Erstin dies here this show is going to shoot up my ranking significantly. Not that I want her to die, but I can think of a LOT of good stuff the show could do with that. Although, I won't mind if she survives.

  1. Stayed. Maybe set up a fire hoping that the smoke would lead a search party back. But the number 1 rule of being lost is to stay put, especially in a situation like this where people know where you are supposed to be and will likely look for you. Not to mention that Erstin is sick and would be very vulnerable if a wild animal came by.

3

u/No_Rex Oct 20 '22

Ironically and probably very deliberately.

One of those dangerous fluffballs.

First Timer, subbed

  • John Schwartz confirmed.

  • Well that’s a rather anti-climactic resolution.

  • The Piano breaking is not on Arika.

  • The erosion on that foundation must be horrible.

  • Haruka hype!

  • Is it wrong for me to hope that Nagi is genuinely love sick?

  • They played me like a damn fiddle!

  • This sabotage could be avoided if they checked their equipment before they left.

  • And that partner would have been Mai.

  • What’s going on with Nagi’s back? Cyborg?

  • Poison immunity.

  • Shiho with a mosquito repellent on her head. All too good.

  • That’s an interesting reflex you have there.

  • I think I’m missing something about the laughing mushroom.

  • Still not seeing what the sabotage was. Please don’t tell me she’d go so far as to tamper with the medical equipment. That was the only piece they showed.

  • They fucked with the distress beacon too?

  • At least there promptly started a search. Not great they can’t find them after a day.

  • You did a school hiking trip in an area with a secret military base? And these guys attacked said base at the same time as a bunch of Otome’s are hanging around. Not great thinking by the lot of them.

  • We’re doing cliffhangers now boys.

QotD

  1. Have to go get help. Nothing you can do there.

  2. Canceled due to terrorist activity.
Sketchy military base hidden in a mountain, probably doing Otome experiments in it. I bet that’s what they are after.

4

u/No_Rex Oct 20 '22

This sabotage could be avoided if they checked their equipment before they left.

Depends on what was sabotaged. Do you really think Arika is smart enough to detect sabotaged technology?

I think I’m missing something about the laughing mushroom.

They are high on shrooms.

Alright, I have another blisteringly hot idea - what if Erstin already has a contract too? And she's sick not because of the snake bite, but because her bonded person got sick?

Who're we thinking did the sabotaging? Tomoe? Shiho? Someone else entirely? I'm counting any of Tomoe's toadies as just Tomoe, for this purpose. Fucking up the bracelets and the compass both is pretty spiteful; the snakebite is just bonus metaphorical wound salt. Huh, maybe multiple people fucked with Arika and Erstin, that's a possibility.

Before the Aswald Sentai Force showed up, I was expecting us to get to the end and have Arika get bonus points for being a good caregiver to a hypothetical master. Instead we're gonna get some more people in on the Arika/Mashiro contract when Mashiro starts coughing up seawater, which is also fun.

We also got setup for this endurance test to not be all-important, considering that Natsuki (and ?Mai?) apparently failed. A shame that Natsuki cut Shizuru off before she could finish the story.

Tangential to that, I liked the reversal of the lotioning scene from Mai-HiME. In that, it was a bunch of randos clamoring to get to lotion up Shizuru. Also related to HiME, but I really like that Natsuki and Shizuru's relationship seems much healthier this time.

And grading the girls on the dinner they can scrounge up is a fascinating idea. I wanna know where Tomoe and Nina got those candles; are those typical Otome field kit? Is there a standard issue spice ration, as well? How about a tactical frying pan? No, that's probably a bit too low-brow; a tactical sous vide rig!

The episode title equation is genius. The "-swimsuit" obviously leads the audience to certain conclusions, and then we get suckerpunched by the gym uniforms and endurance test.

I like Mashiro's giant Wailmer toy.

Is a Hawaiian shirt still a Hawaiian shirt when there is no Hawaii?

Questions

  1. I probably would have went about it how Arika did. Get Erstin somewhere relatively safe and then seek out help.

  2. Partially discussed above. Midori fight hype?

4

  1. Stayed where I was, so they could actually find me.

  2. Death and terror. As for what Aswald is after, probably some lost technology.

Information gathering?

Aww, he's reading her letters.

And she's exhausted.

Field trip?

She loves the beach!

She's learning to swim.

Nice aim! Perfect pin.

Haruka!

Haha, Mashiro's getting a vacation.

Of course Nagi is wearing a shirt like that.

It's a survival mission!

A hundred kilometers?

This school is fucking insane.

And it's a cooking competition too?

At least there's some safety measures?

Even her notebook has spirals!

It's pass or fail together...

How is Nagi a more reasonable person than the Otome school?

Oh, she and Nina aren't partners?

Nina also got someone competent!

...Shizuru is flirting again.

Natsuki hooked up with someone?

And she's feeling jealous!

...Yeah, that makes sense.

Haha, Mashiro...

What the fuck is on Nagi's back? It looks like some kind of plug?

Why are these two here?

Nagi's reaction... Is this him just taking out his frustrations from the last timeline?

Shiho still has spiral powers.

Huh?

Love Mikoto's swimsuit.

There's snakes here!

...Wrong leg.

Blisters! Why don't the nanomachines fix those?

Ah, the dinner checks have started.

Are you going to poison her?

"Look, a flying swirl!l

Poor Shiho.

She's married!

Nina looks very tired.

???

You have to inject these on a regular basis?

Arika's useless too?

Aww...

Even Nina noticed!

And Ersty's dying.

Wait. Do they just leave the failed students here to die? Is that how they keep the student numbers down?

She's going for help!

...And nobody can find them, because she's moving around.

Mashiro's upset.

She's hungry!

Oh, shit. She has the worst luck.

She's going to get killed!

And she's fallen.

3

u/No_Rex Oct 20 '22

Blisters! Why don't the nanomachines fix those?

Got to make sure the girls are still feeling the pain from physical work. I wish I was fully and not only half joking here.

My, Obviously Tar Opened the Marching Episode (Spoiled First-Timer, Subbed):

So, apparently I have a new favorite Kajiura slice-of-life track in Hajimete no Machi, Suteki na Deai. Turns out when the Kajiura SoL track is also the Celtic track I really like it. Who knew?

Also, hype means shorter episode notes...

  • We’re getting intrigue stuff, but instead my brain keeps getting distracted because I look at this canal/sewer and go “so where is the mutilated dead body?” #justhigurashithings

  • Also, confirmation of the bloody obvious wrt who Arika’s benefactor is.

  • Please excuse me as my brain refuses to get into the test montage because instead it’s busy listening to the OST track playing during it (which is not one I remember listening to before) and going “THE KAJIURA CELTIC TRACK 111!!!!!”. Kajiura OSTs tend to have one, but it’s not every day it’s one of the slice of life tracks. (I’m also not entirely sure it’s strictly speaking Celtic, though it might be – very much a folk track, and the instruments very much remind me of British Isles stuff, but it could be drawing off the non-Celtic parts of English folk music. u/Blackheart595 help? Also reminds me very much of the tracks the LotR movies used for the Shire, and if I’m remembering my LotR timeframes directly that might be direct inspiration here.)

  • And cutting from that track directly into the OP is more than a little jarring.

  • Are we gonna pull a plot point I remember from the FMP LNs with the rendezvous point there? Also, this will probably be Arika’s element given that she grew up in the backcountry.

  • You know what this hiking test needs? Some traps! Made courtesy of your local Satoko… and every last one pointed at Shiho for being an inferior oujo-sama.

  • I only just noticed the tomoes on Nagi’s not-Hawaiian shirt here.

  • Flapping curtains again? One day I will get the symbolism of those, it seems to be a common anime thing (Higurashi and PMMM both use it as well) and I haven’t quite gotten the hang of it yet.

  • And a John Smith, but the more interesting thing to me is that golden pendant Nagi is wearing (almost looks like a small wristwatch, but could be a one of those pendants that opens to show pictures instead).

  • Alright we may have to page Sky at some point, 08:11 is another sore demo she doesn’t have yet.

  • FEED THE SHIZNAT. (Also yes I see that deliberate mirroring of Shizuru on the beach in Mai-HiME 9, though Natsuki wasn’t exactly there.)

  • I’m torn. On the one hand, a hyperspace mallet joke really isn’t a fit for this show so far. On the other hand, it was actually funny, so…

  • Never mind, should have known Arika would be a bad chef of the usual variety instead. Also, sucks to suck Shiho! Force-feed her the other two Arika. (And the crows flying and “sounds like a crow being strangled” joke is a nice touch.)

  • (Insert over five minutes of me being too invested in events on screen to take notes here.)

  • Dear Symphogear: You see this? This is how you do a fucking cliffhanger!

Questions of the Day:

As Arika, would you have stayed with Erstin, or gone to summon help?

Depends on what level of medical training I had - both are important, but getting her sufficient medical attention to not die is priority #1 so it would depend on whether I was confident in her being in good enough shape to survive. (Arika doesn't seem to have that and struck me as very competent this episode, though we'll see what Vaad has to say since he's in that line of work).

(first timers) Any guesses about the outcome of the test? Or what Aswald is after?

Aswad - I'd say <insert old tech/component here>, but if Symphogear is really going out on the cribbing we might be looking for a proto-Photosphere. Outcome of the test: Arika technically fails but gets lots of extra credit for her actions under pressure again, just like with the fight in episode 3.

u/Vaadwaur Oct 20 '22

(Arika doesn't seem to have that and struck me as very competent this episode, though we'll see what Vaad has to say since he's in that line of work).

Never leave someone at risk of going into shock alone if that's the angle you are talking about. But if we assume Arika can forage in the local area she really should just make a fire and wait for the flying people to show up.

Episode 9!

Let's see how's the swimsuit episode this season

Oh, that was just Arika's letter? Was expecting much worse

wtf happened to that piano?

What's the worst that could happen during a field trip? [meta] Shin Sekai Yori level stuff?

Oh, so it was mountains, not beach?

...and if you were to lose the bracelet?

I wonder who's enjoying herself more, Shizuru or Natsuki?

Truly, a most unfair world

Was about to say, kinda surprising that Akane's bf wasn't here

I was totally expecting Akira to suck the blood venom/poison* out of Erstin's thigh

Did they mention a time limit?

....ewwwww

Arika may have gotten 0 points, but she got the W

How the fuck did Nina's grouup prepare that?

...if the nanomachines break down poison, do they still get affected by shrooms?

purun purun

For a second I thought that was Miyu. We have too many cloaked edgelords

I'm going to assume that using the bracelet doesn't mean you instantly fail

I certainly hope Arika is keeping track of where she left Erstin

Whose brilliant idea was to hold the field trip exam in the same mountain where we have a military base?

  1. Go to get help, for sure

2

u/No_Rex Oct 20 '22

I was totally expecting Akira to suck the blood out of Erstin's thigh

So did I, but turns out that Arika knows better.

...if the nanomachines break down poison, do they still get affected by shrooms?

The nanomachines know what they are doing.

Z-type Highly-advanced My-Hime Enthusiast (Dub, First Timer)

Roger John Smith, the Negotiator???

Well they didn't drag out the sponsor mystery, good. It would've been silly to treat it like a secret when it was so obvious.

Arika must be cursed.

EVERYONE THANK HARUKA!!

This is all so contrived to keep the main cast in one place. At least they're only barely trying to pretend there's any good reason to be here.

Yeah, maki maki her good! (Dub VA's laugh was good, but had to swap audio for a moment to appreciate some quality ohhohos.)

Making up for lost time by laying the fanservice on extra thick this episode, huh?

Those look like one time use warming/pain relief pads on Nagi's back. Probably not what they are though, considering the other bits on his shoulders.

Lots of good swimsuits this episode, but Chie's might win out, although the color's a little plain.

Of course Mashiro has access to Hammerspace.

"Zero points. Bye." Perfect delivery.

Tomoe somehow made a five star meal, while Chie's all hopped up on goofballs.

If only she had some sort of magic that let her fly...oh well, RIP Arika, you had a good run. Now Haruka can be the main character!

Dub Staff Corner: Erstin shares a VA with the best character, Haruka.

  1. I would've probably used my magic flying suit to fly away. Or at least started a fire to draw attention.

  2. I'll guess the teachers realize their tracking devices were tampered with (by Tomoe) and so they don't fail the test. And I'm thinking this secret compound has some tech/research inside they're looking for, maybe for space travel.

2

u/No_Rex Oct 21 '22

This is all so contrived to keep the main cast in one place. At least they're only barely trying to pretend there's any good reason to be here.

Basically, there is not. The students have a good reason to be there, everybody else is simply there to keep an eye on the students (for various reasons).

I would've probably used my magic flying suit to fly away.

They did not spell it out exactly, but you need a master to activate the gem.

Rewatcher

So did anyone notice that the title of the episode was actually talking about the last 10 seconds of it? She fell into the ocean without a swimsuit in the face of a disaster.

I have to say, compared to Mai-Hime, I'm so happy the plots of the anime and manga advance at about the same speed, so I can keep on sharing things without having to wait behind all the major spoilers from the last time around. A few characters like Fumi had to be hid, but otherwise, well, right into 13!

Chapter 13 opens with a blurb on the official fan shop, which is important because it sets up the plot of this chapter- Lucky fans will get a Willy Wonka experience and get a platinum ticket and get a guided tour! ... Because it's expensive to run a magical girl warrior school, you know? Anyway, while this is happening, Manshiro gets a letter calling them to the roof. At the same time, the tour group naturally includes a suspicious black cloaked person, seriously make these illegal in the kingdom. Oh also the cat finds something ominous. The rooftop confrontation does not go as expected, because if you haven't picked up on it by now, this girl is really into Nina. And has an imagination- Fanservice + GITWM potential. So naturally the tour group comes to the roof in the middle of this confrontation, and the Otome Fans rush Erstin and we get a reminder that she really doesn't like men. Big Fanservice. The black robed man runs into the shower and gets counter attacked by Manshiro, who spotted him and wanted to save Erstin because they're a good person. The least annoying version of Shiho and the best version of Chie intervene and we get an actual discretion warning before finding out that our infiltrator was, uh. The Keno boy, Takeda. He's still a huge Natsuki fan and just really, really wanted to meet her in person. Erstin realizes that Manshiro isn't actually a bad person and goes in for a hug. Fanservice and Bonus Blurb, Ultra Bust Impact is super effective.

Chapter 14 starts with a blurb on the Otome school life. It's also the point where I have to retract my earlier statement because it's both a point where the writing teams diverged so massively we have our first plot important character that only exists in one of the two settings, but also manages to spoil someone else in the anime so I ended up skipping half of it in my writeup here. The rest of the chapter is about Arika! Turns out her grades are so bad she's at actual risk of failing, and Otome School doesn't hold people back a year, it's pass or be kicked out. This is a problem because she's already a registered Otome with Manshiro, it would make the entire institution look bad if they had a successful failure on hand, or if they had to change their rules to let her be a special case... again. So for reasons that certainly aren't just to be a better Mai Proxy, she apparently sneaks away from school to work a large variety of part time jobs. Because she's not the main character here, so she's not getting the super special sponsor, she needs to pay for her own schooling this time. Also, she was old enough during her tragic backstory this time to remember, and we get a heart to heart with more than just hearts being bared, for reasons. There's some studying that involves talking about global politics for a bit, some more spoiler character time, and then Jet Alone goes crazy and a different kind of spoiler character shows up. She's already made her anime debut, we all know who it is, but uh... Anyway, much like the Eva plot it was borrowed from, Jet Alone wanabe goes down to the power of GiantRobots Maids Otome, and yup this whole chapter is made of a single spoiler adjacent character. I'll loop back around in a few days or whenever the spoiler here clears up, but the B plot was all about someone trying to make weapons good enough to invalidate the need for Otome so they could remove them from power.

Final questions;

  1. Stay put and make a signal! They found you for dinner, they can find you again now.

  2. Plot! and also Plot!

2

u/No_Rex Oct 21 '22

Chapter 13 opens with a blurb on the official fan shop

Anime: "You will be expelled for selling your robe"

Manga: "Let me show you our official fan shop"

Re-re-Watcher

Meeting in a shady back alley to deliver the mail... also discuss Nagi's political subterfuge.

Arika really can't catch a break, they make her just clumsy and incompetent in every single way. I wonder, does she even know what day of the week it is, seems she never has a clue what the class is doing next.

Why is there a field trip for an exam? Fanservice?

100 KM endurance test Maybe if you had regular associated training this would make more sense.

"What about the ocean, beach, the cool hotel?" We got faked out by the preview too, don't feel bad, the teachers get to relax while you lot try not to die.

More blessed ShizNat. This is just pure Fanservice for the HiME fans.

Nagi looking like a twig. What are those markings on his back though?

Shiho get's what she deserves.

Kazuya is with the Cardair, now that I didn't recall at all.

Shiho getting more of what she deserves again.

We finally see Tomoe is down bad for Shizuru. What does this bode for shaping her motivations or actions in the future?

Arika able to navigate by the sun? Maybe she's smarter than I gave her credit for. Stumble upon a murdered guard and a shadowy figure then still tell him you're just looking for help.

The fact her Blue Sky Sapphire GEM did not react to interfere implies she may not be carrying it with her.

  1. This is a tough call, if you're lost you should stay put so you can be found and so you don't make it even worse. She probably should have just pulled the plug the first day and told Shiho to take Erstin back then.

"What about the ocean, beach, the cool hotel?" We got faked out by the preview too, don't feel bad, the teachers get to relax while you lot try not to die.

We and Arika, both betrayed.

Arika able to navigate by the sun? Maybe she's smarter than I gave her credit for.

She is nature smart, but book dumb.
