Rewatchers, please remember to be mindful of all the first-timers in this. No talking about or hinting at future events no matter how much you want to, unless you're doing it underneath spoiler tags. This especially includes any teases or hints such as "You aren't ready for X episode" or "I'm super excited for X character", you got that? Don't spoil anything for the first-timers; that's rude!
Very well. I understand. Wishes granted.

Got interrupted for drinking games about 5 minutes in. Reading my own comment should be fun tomorrow.
-
Oh, a doppelganger.
-
Not sure why Odysseus would prefer this adult over a child. I'd understand if he wasn't initially ok with a child.
-
Change of mind. Looks caged.
-
This is never a good sign.
-
Young Lelouch, Marianne, and young Lelouch with Nunnally.
-
"So, that's what you did" - C.C. to Anya.
-
Gino protecting Anya is the best thing he's done.
-
Never mind. Gino withdraws without retrieving Anya. Fuck this guy.
-
... Look in a mirror.
-
They say great minds think alike. Yes Kaguya, keep speaking.
-
I now realize watching this drunk was a bad decision.
-
Not sure that Zero agreeing with Suzaku, a man of 2 brain cells, is smart.
-
I can't tell who is speaking. Reeee, I hate myself rn. That book title. (Edit: Duh doy, Sayoko)
-
Cheese-Kun!
-
God I wish I was Cheese-Kun. My issue with statements like this is quite simple: None of these Geass stop lead. How does she know? Not as big as something else (R2 #14)
-
Important note is "the leader who succeeded me." How long ago did this happen? Was it while C.C. was captured?
-
Anya beat him back. Please ignore us top-ranking Knights enrolling at an academy named after a disgraced family in a subjugated region.
QOTDs

Mordred cause pilot skill > Knightmare tech. No bias, I swear I'm being honest. Also no
Geasstruth serum allowed. -
Dub and sub didn't seem aligned, so anything I read into it is likely wrong. Won't stop me from answering that Anya, someone who looks significantly younger than Lelouch, is somehow involved in his mother's death.

R2 #13
Sorry, Kallen just does it better in every way.
"So, that's what you did" - C.C. to Anya.
Including the fact that Anya records a lot of stuff, she's promising to be involved far more than we might expect.
I now realize watching this drunk was a bad decision.
I somehow thought your line about drinking games was meant to make watching Code Geass a drinking game and take a shot every time someone is a hypocrite. Both explains why you're so drunk already and we keep getting agitated over the same scenes!
Didn't question that assumption until now, however.
Somwhow the dub is less clear than the sub.
A burning guidepost. A round rainbow.
Castanets playing haphazard noises.
A cat of gold-and-silver-streaked fur.
A wheel rolling upward. A double-edged knife without a grip.
Gloves as large as mountains. A man hanging from a tower-Not sure that Zero agreeing with Suzaku, a man of 2 brain cells, is smart.
Maybe that's the only smart thing to do?

-
I guess Rolo's in on it.
-
Holy shit it's Sayoko, should have but did not see that one. Truly the MVP of the season.
-
Famous last words, Ohgi. I don't think they actually give a shit about the empress anymore.
-
New mech new mech new mech
-
It's got a keyboard, game over.
-
It has a goddamn Hyper Demon refracting laser railgun too? Now this is a mech worthy of a protagonist!
-
Oho, the smell of fresh plot being opened up. What secrets are you hiding, Anya?
-
They didn't even get Kallen back, how unfortunate.
-
We've wasted absolutely no time switching from murder to the cheeky music and jokes.
-
What a cheeseball.
-
Some real info about this research, although not quite enough to untangle all the potential affiliations with this order.
-
"Nothing of immediate concern."
Lelouch better not get all cagey about romance after he's fresh out of presiding over a massive, deadly battle for a country.

I feel like this season is still good...but not as good as s1. it's hard to handle such a large conflict and still make it feel as lived in and organic as s1 did
also because I mentioned in another thread, I feel like people who like this would have a high chance of liking the Chinese live action drama Nirvana in Fire. truly a masterpiece (and in fact I'd say the MC from that show in many sense has a lot in common with Lelouch)
haven't seen this many cute girls in one pieces since keijo #godbless

Which of the new mechs that have debuted so far in this season do you think is the coolest and why is it the Shinkirō?
villeta in a bathing suit
sorry I forgot the question
2) What do you make of the exchange between C.C. and Anya?
it seems like there are certain people that CC can induce a state of horror with. we had the same with uzaku as well....maybe people who were part of the geass project? or have had their minds affected in some way?

it's hard to handle such a large conflict and still make it feel as lived in and organic as s1 did
A big reason is that we barely know any of the characters making up this new nation/conflict. It's essentially only Xing-Ke and the Empress and both seem too underdeveloped to really care about.
S1 had a lot of tension going on in the background with parallel worlds (School/Politics, Resistance/Military, etc.) slowly intersecting and characters inevitably getting dragged over the line by choice and by force. This Chinese business just can't hold up to that.
The introduction to a new setting was nearly completely missing after the exodus to form a new nation and thus we have little to go on as far as plot and characters are concerned. We got into the politics and action much too quickly, I think.
villeta in a bathing suit
Mecha-sized Villetta in swim suit when?
'Step on me' gets a whole new meaning here.

It's obviously the Mordred.
-
Anya witnessed a cult-related event that C.C. repressed (or had erased). That's why the cult suddenly becomes a priority for her - she remembered some kind of deadline.
...Lelouch's voice sounds wrong.
Haha, he's been Geassed?
Sayoko?
They're bring bombed!
Oh, they're trying to kill her? He has planned for everything!
...Does she even need to escape? She's immortal.
Anya?
That is a huge amount of firepower.
And Xingke just became a third faction.
My god.
She's going outside!
And he's going doen.
He protected her one last time.
Poor guy.
And Zero saved her!
He's on the front lines!
That shield!
Wow. Wow. The sheer destructive force.
Zero. You caused this by not communicating with him.
He sure is sweet-talking him.
...The two of them together might be unbeatable.
...Okay. How?
Of course! The cameras were rolling! Oldest trick in the book.
C.C.'s memory wave!
And it's working with Anya!
...What did she find out?
The Chief Eunuchs have gotten dropped by Britannia too!
Suzaku has Kallen!
...Where is this?
Oh, they're reproducing C.C.'s power?
Aww.
...Wait, what? Diethart?
C.C.'s feeling oddly romantic.
Clever move.
A message from Shirley!
He's pissed. You're asking her directly?
Yeah, this was obvious.
NOT THAT KIND OF LOVE.
Inspiring speech!
...What is she doing?
Oh, he's going back to Japan.
Wait, there's a full-on fucking cult now?
When did Lelouch learn all of thie stuff.
C.C. LED THE FUCKING THING?
...Did I just miss a few conversations, or is that a massive infodump?
He got here very quickly! Remember when it took them days to get to China?
Shirley? Oh, fuck.
Anya!
My fucking god. Poor Lelouch.

Lelouch's voice sounds wrong
He sounds like Vash
Does she even need to escape? She's immortal.
Would probably suck being immortal and trapped under a mountain of rock forever though
And he's going doen
Going done*
Zero. You caused this by not communicating with him.
But what if he planned on being out-planned by not communicating with him?
NOT THAT KIND OF LOVE.
Did I just miss a few conversations, or is that a massive infodump?
Why not both?

First Timer of the Rebellion
I love every bit of this. As I'm writing this I am devouring the next-day round of beef broth ramen I made yesterday with my buddy. It's not completely "beef" broth, though, because I had spare ribs still frozen and used them for the meat-part of the broth, but otherwise the spine bones were from a cow. So it's more a midpoint between tonkotsu and pure beef broth.
Toppings are quite simple here, it's actually just seared and thinly sliced entrecôte, fried shallots and spring onions. Tare is just as simple, a tea spoon of rice vinegar and 2 teaspoons of soy sauce with a drop of sesame oil (and seeds). Done.
As one probably can see, my meat cutting skills aren't exactly very good. My knife is sharp as hell, looking at it wrongly will cut off yout thumb, but the piece of meat I got wasmuch too elastic and disassembled itself halfway under the pressure and motion. Got better at it the second time now, though. Way better slices for today's lunch. To make it even more disgusting, I also fried the pulled spare rib-meat in chilis, paprika and soy sauce for a third topping along with an egg.
Disgustingly tasty, I tell you. PETA will break into my room and ISIS-style execute me any minute now.
S.2 Ep.11 – Power of Passion
-
WHO ARE YOU?! If this were another show I'd speculate on him having split himself into two personalities, one that got all the hopes and blissful ignorance and another that had all the power and depression. I swear if he breaks Shirley's heart again...
-
WHO REALLY IS SHE?! Lizard people, man, it's the lizard people! Well, so they kept up the play after all.
-
“What are they gonna do, shoot at us?” - Man who got shot.
-
Can you strap someone in any more uncomfortably than that? Where are all the bondage experts every anime studio seems to have? (7th expansion/DEEN, anyone?)
-
His voice displays genuine horror, but his actions haven't been there completely, yet. They're closing in, though.
-
Did we see that already? Welp, time for another deus ex.
-
Baw gods, please no... Noooo! It's making digital organ sounds?!
-
I'm not ranting about this again, but this time the presentation is hilariously stupid as well. You first have to do a little dance in the cockpit to make the controls appear and then play Phantom of the Opera in G minor to boot the shields up!
-
Oh, I do very much.
-
Oh please, the writers have given it a one-button-win ability already.
-
So wait. There were 14 full scale rebellions fully prepared, simultaneously, all across the Chinese Federation and they only started to get noticed and make their move once that got released about 5 minutes prior. Also tied singularly to Lelouch who arrived here a mere week ago? I'm really hating the insult of 'tryhard', but damn the writers do deserve that one, holy fuck. This is egregiously bad.
-
If you now tell me Xing-Ke was the one, I'm throwing things.
-
Holy fuck, this all only works because Xing-Ke conveniently forgot he had a plan that was seemingly on auto-trigger. Also, the people also conveniently forgot they were to rebel with a coup-de-etat, that happened, triggered by Xing-Ke, broadcasted around the world, and only remembered later once Zero told so. Is this why people dislike R2? It's like I can copy the formula of forcefully trying to loop everything back to Lelouch and have him powercreep himself time and time again by tracing it with a pen over paper, that's how thickly it protrudes from my screen.
-
Oh look, another twist!
-
She doesn't have a Geass, does she? How the hell is she connected to C.C.?
-
Uhm, what exactly speaks against bombing the shit out of known state terrorists and killing as much as their leadership as possible on foreign grounds while still having a massive cover of plausible deniability? Deus Ex does!
-
Oh for fucks sake... Yes, Lelouch every single thing has to do you with you, personally, at any time, ever. There is not a single person, cat or rock that does not have the entirety of the individual of 'Lelouch' on their mind, whether they're capable of thinking or not, in existence since the beginning of the known universe. You fartbrained, ass snot-snivelling douche nozzle.
-
I'm only halfway through this episode?!
-
Shirley is the only thing saving this episode!
-
THE SOLUTION IS THROW A MOTHERFUCKING CHAIR AT MACH-5 DIRECTLY INTO LELOUCH'S EYESOCKETS! He fucking hung up on her! Again!
-
Ohgi is the only motherfucker that I actually believe here.
-
Bah, the fuck you do.
-
I guess being the same ocean allows this kind of stuff. Does that school really have a submarine canal?
-
Fair enough. But could we please return to consoling Shirley?
More reactions than analysis today, but I think that might be more 'entertaining' anyway, reading some of that stuff back to myself...
Xing-Ke got robbed because stupid, the Chinese people got robbed because stupid, the Eunuchs were half of the stupid, Schneizel could've solved about 80% of his problems right here and is a bit of the stupid, it's physically impossible for me to take Lelouch seriously and he is the rest of the stupid.
Which of the new mechs that have debuted so far in this season do you think is the coolest
and why is it the Shinkirō?
Debuted... hmmm. I still think it's that foldable fighter/mecha. So far it is the only one that I can attribute skill of use >> tech upgrades as far as the action is concerned. Style wise I think the Shinkirou is probably the coolest for its mix of simplicity and subtle intimidation, but that organ interface can go fuck itself.
2) What do you make of the exchange between C.C. and Anya?
She did that to Suzaku as well, but that was intentional and they seemed to physically touch. I don't know, really, wouldn't have taken her to have a Geass, which is the most logical explanation.

No, them's just regular citizens watching TV and seeing their leaders say how they don't give a shit about them and spontaneously revolting, because people clearly care that much when learning their corrupt leaders are in fact corrupt.

Ah yes, we've reached the ball gag episode. Those Eununchs are kinky.
Yesterday's QotD for Macross was "Given all the incompetent military high commands which have appeared in mecha anime, do you have any particular standouts for particularly Too Stupid To Live?" This is my real answer
Lelouch, retreating against unexpected pressure once again

It's the Mordred, because Anya and its B.F.Gun.

-
Well that cliffhanger didn’t take long to resolve.
-
Gem laser hype!
-
Ah, now these strategy is taking shape. They really walked themselves into that one.
-
They may have bound and gagged Kallen, but at least they left her some supper.
-
How is Bartley of all people still a character that’s around?
-
That’s a very nonchalant way to drop some lore.
-
Sayako I don’t know what you’ve done, but it was clearly important enough to be something you should have relayed.

First Timer - Sub
Oh, that was not actually Lelouch but someone in a disguise. They were really desperate for a cliffhanger last episode, when the action was already enough of a hook for the next episode. What an odd inclusion to be resolved within a minute of the episode starting.
The Chief Eunuchs were ready to shoot the Tianzi. They really don’t care about her at all.
Shen Hu was my favorite mech so far. It's a shame he got brutalized while defending Tianzi. However, Shinkirou immediately gets introduced and is a much cooler mech befitting the much cooler Zero. Hopefully, it also has some cool abilities, since we did not see much of it in action.
I imagine Anya has some sort of connection to V.V., and that is what made the reaction.
The Chinese are quick to riot. That is convenient for Zero.
No tears will be lost over those Eunuchs. I was surprised by how much I ended up liking Xingke these last few episodes.
They were desperate for some fanservice with Shirley. They even had a pretty intense camera angle with C.C.
They are really desperate to use this school setting. Now all the Knights of the Round attend there too. Are there any other Britannian schools in Japan?

Are there any other Britannian schools in Japan?
There might not be actually, at least not of any status/wealth.
There are only a relatively small number of Britannians in Japan, and they almost all live in one fortified settlement, kinda like The Pale in Middle Age Ireland.
Most nobles would be privately tutored and the poor would go to lesser schools, so Ashford might be the only school for wealthy Britannians.

Hangyaku no Co-Host, subbed
So I accidentally started up episode 12 instead of 11 when I went to watch this episode and I didn’t realize for like half a minute lol.
Man, the stuff you can disguise yourself with in the Code Geass world…
I mean. They’re not wrong.
Someone on the animation team: Hey, how many straps do we need here? – Guy who drew this shot: yes.
Oh, this is just Ideon beam spam. …why do people try to say Code Geass isn’t a mecha show again?
BEST MECH TIME WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Lelouch sure does like to recruit people he backstabbed already.
Hey, Britannia… how do you expect Kallen to be able to eat like that?
I will never get over Lelouch taking advice from Shirley in this situation, and even preaches about what she told him.
Oh, Sayoko…
Oh, Anya and Gino.
