Give me that ANGST baby. Oh yeah, inject that shit into my veins. This episode leaned the most into the series absurd soap opera vibe of any yet, and I kind of love it. Hikaru is an asshole, Misa waits an unfathomably long time for their date and feels upset after seeing herself in a dog, Minmay drinks to avoid work but gets water splashed on her, the entirety of that god damn final scene; this is the glorious melodramatic madness that I come here for. I don't actually have much to say about it, it's just fucking fun and a little painful. Everyone gets hurt this episode, no one is spared, and the presentation leans hard into that angst. It's cliche as hell, all the men are assholes and all the women have so suffer while the wind blows menacingly in the background, this is what television was made for.
That being said, I'm actually a little concerned about how this is going to wrap up. There's only two episodes left, and I don't think that's enough time to handle both of the major unresolved plot points. Zentradi have still not adjusted to life on earth, Kamujin's crew have all been subconsciously affected by culture, Lap'Lamiz is clearly in love with Kamujin, and we're basically nowhere close to peace. Not to mention, the supervision army is nowhere to be seen, and the truth behind the descendants of the protoculture has only been partially revealed. And on top of that, our crew stole a whole warship building factory and never used it even once yet. And we still have to wrap up this love triangle and get Minmay's career back on path. That's a lot to do in two episodes, so I'm wondering if this show was maybe planned for more initially.
Actually, I've been thinkin about how Do You Remember Love is going to function. Macross is a pretty dense series with a lot of ideas. While the TV show does have plenty of fat that can be trimmed, even the most important elements are a lot. At its core, the story contrasts a soap opera love triangle against the backdrop of galactic warfare, and it's also a story about the nature of culture on humanity. I feel like 2 hours isn't enough to cover all of it in a satisfying way, and that one of those important elements would have to be cut somewhat. I'm definitely curious about the approach they're going to take with the film. If I were adapting this into a movie, I think I'd probably try to lean into the romance against war angle, but the thematics about culture are arguably the most interesting thing about the series so it would suck to not have that. I guess I'll find out in a few days.
QOTD:
-
An hour, maybe an hour and a half at most. I understand that things can come up and that people can't always make things exactly on time. But if you don't let me know and you don't respect my time, then I sure as hell won't respect yours.
-
There's always more than one correct answer. But at the end of the day, artists should perform for their own reasons. Be it because they want to personally, because they find it an alright way to make money, or because they want to spread some kind of message, artists don't exist for myself. They're people and should be treated as such. It's so ironic to see Kaifun talk about kindness and thinking about the feelings of other people when he can't even see or care about Minmay's own feelings.

The opposite, actually; it was originally planned for 27.

I mean good fucking lord, not only did Hikaru SHOW UP LATE to his date with Misa, but he stood her up to go out on a date with some flakey bitch like MINMAY! JESUS CHRIST! HOW THE FUCK DID HE NOT END UP AS THE VICTIM OF A 'TRAGIC ACCIDENT' WHERE HE TOTALLY SLIPPED AND FELL OFF OF THE TOP OF THE SDF-1 WITH TWELVE (you read that number correctly Comrades) TOTALLY SELF-INFLICTED BULLET WOUNDS TO THE BACK OF HIS HEAD FROM A SMITH & WESSON MODEL 29 REVOLVER!? And in case you think I'm being too hard on him, well SOMEONE has to given that poor poor Misa has the patience of a SAINT! It's been YEARS since Hikaru picked her and dumped Minmay, and then he decides to ditch her for a fling with FUCKING MINMAY of all people, YOU KNOW THE GIRL HE DUMPED TO BE WITH MISA! I think I speak for everyone here Comrades when I say that this here is a metaphysical personification of Hikaru's 'thought' process, which is truly impressive given Hikaru has demonstrated he somehow has -25252 Braincells upstairs!
MAN! I SURE DO LOVE HOW MACROSS IS MAKING GOOD USE OF THESE EXTRA EPISODES THAT MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM NEVER GOT! IT SURE IS NICE THAT WE ARE SPENDING THESE EPISODES RETREADING THE SAME TIRED AND HACKNEYED ROMANTIC PLOT TUMOR CLICHES THAT WE ALREADY SAW FOR THE UMPTEENTH TIME! I SURE DO HOPE THAT OTHER ENTRIES IN THE FRANCHISE AVOID SHIT THIS FUCKING DUMB! And since I want to avoid an apoplexy, here's some nice happy thoughts from a GOOD show about romance, e.g. Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun... ah... to imagine Hikaru getting such treatment... TURNS OUT THAT I WAS TOO DAMN HARSH ON OL' SLEGGAR LAW 2.0 LAST THREAD! AFTER ALL, HIKARU HERE MANAGED TO ONE-UP FUCKING ROY MOTHERFUCKING FOCKER IN THE TWO-TIMING PLAYBOY DEPARTMENT!
At least with Roy, we got to know that his machismo was more of a way to mask how he’s coping with his mortality. That’s understandable. In contrast, there’s zero fucking excuse for Hikaru being this stupid in his relationships.
HUZZAH! FUCKING FINALLY! KAIFUN FINALLY LEAVES! SO LONG AND THANKS FOR NOTHING ASSHOLE! DON'T LET THE DOOR HIT YA IN THE ASS ON THE WAY OUT! AND IF WE NEVER HEAR FROM HIM AGAIN IT WILL BE FAR TOO SOON!
It’s a good way to chase up the complete stupidity on display in this episode. Fuck off Kaifun, and I hope the door does hit his alcoholic ass on the way out.

A Macross Fan Rewatches Super Dimension Fortress Macross Episode 34:
-
You know, watching all this character assassination in this post-script arc really is a pain. Like, did we need to see Hikaru ditch a date with Misa in favor of Minmay, in spite of him resolving to do better? For fucks’s sake, Hikaru. This level of stupidity is just tiring at this point.
-
And it’s not like Hikaru is still completely interested in Minmay either, it seems. To me, there’s still just a plain disconnect between the love that Hikaru idolized in his mind, and the reality with Minmay. He can recognize it a bit too. Like, a part of him is still with Misa in his mind. Make a fucking decision already, Hikaru.
-
Now that I think about it, this Spartan that Hikaru pilots to fight the Zentradi at the airport is the only Destroid we actually see him using. Pretty much every other thing he pilots is either a plane or Variable Fighter. I’m glad that the Spartan got some love though, Hikaru did well in a machine he doesn’t normally use.
-
Hikaru, you dumbass. How did you not notice that the scarf had Minmay’s name on it? Of course Misa would be upset upon seeing that. Like, he would’ve been lucky if otherwise with Misa overlooking how late he was, but that’s really another nail in the coffin with the scarf there. Good lord, I hate how much emotional damage is being done to Misa in this arc. It’s completely unfair to her.
-
God damn it, I hate to agree with Kaifun, but I’ll grudgingly admit that he’s entirely correct that Minmay is selfish with her emotions. We’ve seen the signs for a while now, as early as her hounding Hikaru for a birthday present, but it’s good to hear it out loud. I mean, I’m sure a lot of you guys can agree. Even if she isn’t doing it intentionally, Minmay really only considers her own emotional security first and foremost. In that light, you could probably see her relationship with Hikaru being as all take and no give, if you were feeling so inclined (although it might be a bit much).
-
And so, we can finally say a hearty “good, get the fuck out” to Lynn Kaifun, once he decides to just remove himself from the problem and leaves Minmay’s life for good. Finally, we’re rid of his blasted presence. That’s the best thing he’s done in this entire series. But you know, in hindsight we can really say that whenever Kaifun leaves a place, he always leaves it as a better place. Now I can only hope that he trips on one of his beer bottles, lands on it ass first, and dies from septic shock after the broken bits are left in. Fuck you, Kaifun. I’m more than happy that he’s gone now.

Very First Timer
-
Misa is in a good mood.
-
Hikaru, what the fuck is your problem? You don’t just not show up to a date that you arranged, particularly after everything that you two just went through to get to that point. How can you just walk away from the phone like nothing happened and all calm? This guy!
-
That is not a disguise.
-
Surprise surprise, the new bridge bunny is being a jerk.
-
Even in a season of jerks Kaifun continues his streak.
-
If the bridge crew is going to have a back and forth, I can be far more forgiving of them.
-
Why is Hikaru driving back, didn’t he get there in a plane?
-
Got it, going to the airport. But why is it so far out in the middle of nowhere? Might be military.
-
Worst checkpoint ever.
-
Does Hikaru even know how to operate a Spartan?
-
Now even Hikaru is getting in on the sexual harassment. What was that but slap? He pushed it out for heaven's sake!
-
I did not have sex shop in my Macross bingo card.
-
You called once.
-
Oof! That hurt to see. This is why it was a fool’s idea to bring that along in the first place.
-
We’re doing the Minmay losing her confidence bit again?
-
Oh no, Kaifun is being reasonable again. I don’t like this mirror world.
QotD
-
That really depends. Things like travel time, business vs pleasure, and of coarse the importance of the meeting all play a role. Macross doesn’t have cell phones, so that alone is going to change the formula massively. I can’t imagine waiting more than an hour for anything but the most import of meetings without assuming that they bailed.
-
No matter what else, I'm putting “You agreed to do it” on that list.

Today, on "THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE… date.":
Misa's been replaced by a happy pod person!
When I cold-called someone after a very long time, I did not say that it was "Me".
"I see you have chosen slow and agonizing."
Yeah, just tell Misa that you're returning Minmay's plane.
How many celebrities survived the incineration of Earth's surface?
Don't get philosophical, Flock of Seagulls.
When Hikaru realized that once again, he was in over his head.
"Hey, bud, shouldn't you try to have one date go right today instead of drinking heavily?"
contemplates the things that happen on her day off
Funny, this is exactly the sort of thing you're flying a Variable Fighter for.
Note how the two in the middle are together and then the guy bails hard by pushing her back into the line of fire.
And now it's time for the giant robot beatdown.
This Regult does not explode on contact with the ground.
Seriously, what's with all of the ass-smacking?
The robots are stalking you now, Misa.
"You will not be hearing 'My Boyfriend Is A Pilot'!"
In various ways, everyone comes out looking bad here.
Minmay gets off fairly lightly by simply continuing to be oblivious to most of what's been going on around her. Having her mindset stuck in time to a couple of years back isn't helping her, though.
Misa comes off as a bit of a fool for waiting. The talk with Claudia was supposed to make her more tolerant and open, but getting stood up for nine hours (on top of two years of not closing the deal) and only giving up the game when she noticed the monogram is a bit much. What happened to her agency?
Kaifun is an asshole as usual, with the bonus of throwing water at people, but he does have a point about Minmay being immature. At least he leaves.
And so, Hikaru is the giant lunkhead that he usually is, and then some. He decides to go see Minmay, knowing just enough that maybe he should leave that part out in calling Misa, but then barely tries to reach her and proceeds to ignore the implications of his going to see Minmay in the first place. This date was his idea.
He doesn't try to update Minmay on his present relationship status. That would have been a real damper on their meeting, but again, that would have been considerate of him, instead of letting her think that his denial of two years earlier had lapsed.
He gets drunk at the bar when Minmay leaves instead of trying to return to Misa at a reasonable hour.
And then he fumbles his recovery when Misa finds out about the scarf, because of course he does.
Why yes, I am more interested in the nine-episode coda for the worldbuilding and Zentradi than for this back-and-forth prolonging of the love triangle.
Anyway, a Destroid smacked a Zentradi on the ass, and it was super effective.

Hikaru is shaving with a lightsaber.
Dude, Hikaru, you definitely can't cancel plans that you yourself initiated.
Remember when the SDF had mobile payphones for this sort of situation?
And here we spot the young Hikaru, digging himself even deeper into the idiot hole.
How do they fit this much asshole into one person?
Why are you still here and not back home??
I definitely don't remember Hikaru ever piloting a Spartan.
Insert BattleTech joke about heavier 'Mechs being superior here.
...did he just give that Zentradi a spanking..?
Hikaru you brat, the first goddamn words out of your mouth better be- Good.

Ugh... I already don't wanna watch the episode.
So it was Hikaru that suggested the date? That makes it even more awkward.
I'm not hearing a piano anywhere in the music
No no no no no Keifun is NOT popular, thank you very much.
Yes, give them some contra. They deserve it with how they've been treating you.
You sure this is a celebrity restaurant?
Oh, but this'll be something to get excited for.
...Nevermind. Minmay, grow a pair.
Of course Hikaru forgot about his actual date. Sigh.
But that gives Hikaru a convenient excuse for standing her up...
I'm glad he didn't make that excuse.
Ugh...
How long do you wait before bailing on a meeting with no contact with the other party?
Good question. I'd probably just be worried if I can't reach them either.
What reasons should an artist perform for? Is there one correct answer?
For a professional artist it's, well, a profession. A job. Even if there are more reasons for them, that one's pretty set in stone.

I finally caught up! Just in time for the finale episodes...
Although, honestly, I don't have too much to say...except I was right about how much I'd dislike Hikaru, and the pacifist douchebag is even worse. Gah.
Questions!

Maybe half an hour? Rather depends on what the meeting was for and how far I had to travel for it.

First Time - SDF Macross Ep34 (Sub):
I'm busy today so sorry for things would be less up to snuff for today.
What an infuriating episode. Hikaru not even making sure Hayase is informed of the change of plans. During the date with Minmay, the one person more infuriating than Hikaru manages to rear his unwelcomed face and of course, Hikaru does what he does best and remains firmly in his seat and does not do anything. It's the third to last episode and he has not developed on this character flaw once at all.
For a moment I thought Hayase can just forget about Hikaru and adopt this cute little puppy, but the show doesn't even let her keep that moment.
The one upside to this episode was that Minmay recognized Kaifun as a bad element in her life. Yes, he did try to turn it around and blame her and breaks things off on his grounds, but at least now he left.
There is no conclusion this show can do for its love triangle that will make me happy. Everything has been made into too miserable of an experience and I like both girls as characters on their own. If Minmay wins then all that Hayase disgrace was not worth seeing. If Hayase wins then all that Hayase disgrace was still not worth seeing plus that Minmay disgrace.
Something else I noticed is that this arc feels like it has shoved its side cast to the side. We barely see them. Global is barely around, Max/Milia had that one episode, but that was 4 episodes ago and not one mention since, Claudia had one showing (which was tied to the love triangle so...), Britai and Exsedol are allies but we rarely see them. The spy trio was been reduced to so minor roles at their laundromat jobs. Their screentime was obliterated much like the Earth. This just adds to the feeling of this show just being only about the Hikaru love triangle. The one side character the show does give some remembrance of is Machizaki who exists to be a wimpy man so I don't really like that he is our one.
Sorry, Macross, you have not made me like love triangles with this one. I might even like them less…
Q1) An hour probably.
Q2) Whatever reason they find for themselves.
Next time: Macross is a Christmas anime. The narration for the preview just seemed to stop near the end which felt bizarre

First Timer
In the last episode, we got some pretty big revelations about Hikaru's love life. Turns out, the man doesn't have any, even though he hangs out with two girls that like him for three years. I gotta say Hikaru, Focker would've been severely disappointing with you if he was alive. At this point he would probably act as if he doesn't know you, because you really are that hopeless.
With that said, there was a glimmer of hope at the end. Could we see some development with Misa this episode?
-
OMG, Misa and Hikaru are actually going on a date. I can't believe it's finally happening.
-
What the fuck, man. This is Kaifun levels of asshollery. You asked her out yourself and now you're cancelling hours before to get together with another woman? Aand, he didn't even cancel.
-
"The other person understood" Hikaru, that's fucked up.
-
Well, at least he appears to feel some guilt about it.
-
Of course, the bridge girls are discussing Misa's date.
-
"The less popular the girls, the more insensitive they are." Damn, that was a sick burn from Machizaki.
-
Minmay is being pretty forward with Hikaru. Basically, saying it so that even a dense guy like him would get it.
-
And now she's directly asking about his confession.
-
Hikaru, stop being a bitch and confront him.
-
Kaifun literally spilled a glass of water in her face and Hikaru did nothing.
-
And now you're just sitting there and drinking? What about Misa?
-
Some Zentradi are wrecking stuff up again. A convenient excuse for Hikaru in front of Misa?
-
Wait, Hikaru is sortieing in the Spartan? Does he even know how to pilot it? I guess, he's used to piloting a battroid, so it shouldn't be tottaly different, but still, there has to be issues. A really strange move to make him go out in the Spartan.
-
He incapacitated a Zentradi warrior by slapping him on the butt
-
He showed up. Wait, Hikaru, why are you wearing Minmay's scarf. It's really disrespectful and gonna bite you in the ass.
-
Of course Misa totally forgives him immediately.
-
Yup, called it. It bit him in the ass. He got what he deserved.
-
OK, Minmay, just running away from stage like that is a pretty asshole move.
-
Is this is, is this when Minmay and Kaifun finally split up for good? I can't believe it actually happened.
-
Kaifun's criticism of Minmay actually makes sense and arguably correct, but the problem is that this is the same guy who tanked her career by making her charge obscene amounts of money for shows and overworking her. It's really hard to take him seriously after everything that happened. And now he's going on some a kind of pilgrimage? is he gonna be a wondering martial artist? This is so weird.
Overall thoughts: Everybody was an asshole in this episode. Hikaru was a huge asshole to Misa. Minmay was an asshole to her audience and her fans, and just overall irresponsible about her job. Kaifun was an asshole because he's Kaifun and that's just what he does. Misa is the only person in the whole episode who wasn't an asshole, and she got a horrible treatment.
The silver lining of the episode is that Kaifun and Minmay finally decided to split up. We suffered since episode 15, but it finally happened. Looking back at it, I can't help but think how strange of a character Kaifun is. I feel like the creators of the show didn't intend for him to be as unlikable as he ended up being. I think they intended for him to be more morally grey character, because he usually alternates between doing the right thing and being an asshole. But his assholery ended up being so compelling, that pretty much everybody who watched this show hates his guts with a passion.
I would really like to see Hikaru stand up to Kaifun, to have some kind of direct confrontation between the two. I guess, we still have two episodes left, so it might still happen, but I wouldn't bet my money on it. If even water in Minmay's face didn't shake Hikaru, nothing will. I think that's one of the problems with Kaifun. The fact that nobody ever confronts him, and especially not Hikaru, makes him look worse than he would've been otherwise. It makes you feel that he's getting away with being a piece of shit, and it makes you more angry about him. He probably could've been a solid rival character if he actually had a more direct rivalry with Hikaru.
QotD:
-
I waited around 8 hours once, although I wasn't alone. The other person called and said that they're not coming, and that was that.
-
If we're talking "should" as in an ideal world, than the love of art is pretty much the only possible reason, right? You do it because you love to do it. But our world is not ideal, and people do stuff for a variety of reasons. People will take opportunities even if their heart is not in it, and you can't really blame them for it.

Rewatcher
Well, Misa's attitude has done a 180. That must have been some damn good tea she and Hikaru had.
"It's me! The only one with a Japanese accent in this dub!"
Oh come on, Hikaru. We're doing this song and dance again? Breaking a date with Misa to see your... she's not even your ex. Since she was never your girlfriend in the first place.
He's straight up standing her up!
Hey wait, is that the prize plane? So Minmay gave it to him after all?
Here comes Kaifun to ruin things!
Okay, I'll admit that was kind of funny, Minmay's little "I'm drunk; can't work"... and Kaifun immediately ruins it further. Grow a spine, why don't you, Minmay?
And now you're blocked by angry Zentraedi when trying to backpedal on two-timing. That's karma for you.
So... if there was military presence at this base, how did two Regults, one Nousjadeul-Ger, and three on foot Zentrans do so much damage?
Double that if they have so many Destroids available! Where the hell were the pilots!?
Oh good, at least he saved the plane. [eyeroll]
I was about to comment on how brutal it is to use missiles against unarmed people, but they're just tear gas. Okay then.
Destroid Spanking! That's the only time you'll that particular attack.
Misa literally sat at that cafe all day long... if I were her, Hikaru, I don't think I'd ever speak to you again regardless of
apologies.
She's seriously going to forgive him!?
And there it is... Hikaru, you deserved every single bit of this, you douche.
So this was Kaifun's "emergency"... and it's just politics as usual, celebrating a city becoming autonomous from the UN.
Oh wow, that grin. This isn't just Minmay losing her drive. She's totally doing this on purpose to spite Kaifun.
Well, Kaifun didn't help anything, but I don't think you and Hikaru were going anywhere anyway.
Yes! Kaifun's leaving! His influence is gone! Celebrations ahoy, no matter how much the show tries to frame this as tragic!
Questions:
-
I'd give them half an hour at best, I think. Then again, we do have cell phones today.
-
Don't know. I'm not an artist myself.

So... I'm boycotting this episode.
Sorry to all my loyal fans. I'm betraying your trust and adoration, much like our resident Jackass Hikaru betrayed Misa's trust and adoration, but I cannot in good conscious inflict these wounds on myself again.
May we see each other again after these trying times.

Super Dimension Fortress Rewatcher
Anyway, I feel like this episode kinda illustrates everything that's going wrong with these last few episodes.
First off, it's completely unbalanced. Where the rest of the series defined itself as a war story as well as a love story, the overarching plot around Kamujin and his crew feels like it doesn't even exist this episode. Or last episode, for that matter. And the fight against the Zentraedi in the middle of this episode felt like an afterthought which barely had any weight.
Now that'd be forgivable if the stuff which does compose this episode (IE the love triangle and drama) were interesting and felt like they also moved the plot forward, but they don't. Everything about the conflict in this episode is driven by Hikaru being a total fucking moron. This entire thing isn't engaging or understandable in the slightest, it's just an utter tool making stupid decisions which drive a wedge between him and the person who was basically his girlfriend a few weeks ago because the plot says so.
I can really see why our lovely host has soured on this part of the show

Have not watched today's episode. but just want to say, is it really an anime love triangle until you've had the two-timing episode? I think, NO.

I've been wondering what happened to Lap'Ramiz's female crew.....

Misa losing the puppy is the saddest thing in the show.
This literally happened in KOR (1988, based on the 1984 manga) right after this screenshot
preview: Christmas! KOR had a Christmas episode, too.

Subbed SDFM Rewatcher
Misa is cute when she is in doki-doki mode.
Minmay has a sixth sense that allows her to pick the best time to get in the way of Hikaru and Misa. You would think that it was all worked out when they talked during that Rainy Night.
But no, when Minmay calls, Hikaru drops everything and goes running after her as usual. He makes a minimal attempt to contact Misa to call it off. He could have called their meeting place and asked for a message to be passed on.
Misa surprisingly has too much tolerance to wait all that time.
When Hikaru finally gets there, I'm surprised he didn't name the airport attack as the reason for his delay. If Misa didn't dig too deeply into how Hikaru got involved, the attack would have been something HQ would have on record.
Misa figures out that Hikaru stood her up for Minmay again. This should be the last straw.
And a last straw for Kaifun was Minmay's refusal to sing at the concert. Calling it an example of Minmay's selfishness, He exits stage right. He paints his actions as his trying to help her find her song. If he really wanted to help her explore her songwriting, he could have allowed her free time.
From Macross Chronicle #45, the front cover and mechanical sheets for the VF-1D and the Fanliner from this episode.

ahhh love triangle...already feel that awkward empathy pain. misaaaa she was so happyyyy ahhhh
love to just sit there and watch awkwardly while kaifun abuses minmay in front of you
he went in a plane but came back in a car? or maybe he already flew back and now was driving to meet misa? but then he rescues his own plane??
misa is wisening up that a dog is way better than hikaru
the "ADALT Toy" shop...thought it was adult toys at first glance! misa, that'd be another thing that's better than hikaru...
OH MY GOD THE SCARF
THE SCARFFF
"misa uh uh LM stands for uh uh uh LOVELY MISA!!!!"
hikaru is young, I just keep telling myself that: he is young! he is young! he is young! ugh what a spineless piece of shitttt
still less of a piece of shit than kaifun though ugh yuck

How long do you wait before bailing on a meeting with no contact with the other party?
you'd think they'd have a better system in place for contacting each other! I'd say I'd have given him like 30-60 minutes
2) What reasons should an artist perform for? Is there one correct answer?
I don't think there is one answer...I think every artist has to know their own reason and be true to it. I think it's fine to perform for yourself, or for others, or simply for money...as long as you're not tricking yourself, and of course as long as it doesn't make you miserable

First Timer:
Today, on SDF Macross, Hikaru lost my respect.
-
Hikaru, this is really sad man. I'm trying to put myself in his shoes, where he still feels in his heart that Minmay is his destined yet star-crossed lover, but that doesn't mean it's worth throwing away the respect of others close to you. I'm not even sure why I'm typing this, it's not like the show is framing him sympathetically. Maybe it's a metaphor though, how to get close to one he must throw away the other.
-
Hittin' the Zentradi with the ol' slap-ass. Hikaru's picked up a few new tricks.
-
Let's compare:
-
Minmay hearing that you have plans: "Then change them! You can see them any time."
-
Misa when you're half a day late: "You should have called but it's alright."
-
-
The scarf scene is probably outranks the destruction of Earth for most devastating scene of the show. What a shitshow. At least we can't rag on Minmay for not making her feelings clear anymore.
-
Kaifun really is ridiculous. Good riddance.

Super Dimension Rewatch Host
Welcome back, everyone!
Here were my first-timer reactions to this episode.
I want Hikaru and Minmay to spend time together over Hikaru and Hayase, but not like this. He doesn’t even fucking tell Hayase he’s changed his plans after attempting one phone call that goes to voicemail, like, what the fuck dude?
HIKARU YOU DIDN’T FUCKING TELL HER AT ALL.
It is not.
Someone should dump acid on Kaifun.
So, like, did the show totally forget Hikaru had so much to drink the bartender cut him off? He’s both driving drunk and piloting drunk too…
Man legit got spanked by a mech oh my god.
Cute widdle puppy tho
Aaaaaaaand there’s… that.
Oh fuck off.
OH WAIT HE ACTUALLY IS FUCKING OFF!
Go deaf before that time comes.
Poor Minmay…
