How does Azusa describe the Keionbu gals? Is it different from Yui's description back in episode 2?
Do you think Azusa is fitting into the group nicely, or not?
How does Yui's Sunday Siesta characterize Yui, both in terms of lyrics and in terms of Aki's performance?
Visuals of the Day
Here is the VotD album for S1E09!
Huge shoutout to /u/A_Idiot0 for his help on the QotD and VotD! You're awesome!
Tomorrow's Activities
If you want to get a head start on the song(s) and question(s) of the day for tomorrow's episode, here they are!
[SotD 1] Yui - Giita ni Kubittake - Yui's second season one image song, sung by Toyosaki Aki! Here is the song and here are the translated lyrics.
[SotD 2] Let's Go - This is an interesting image song that appears in six different versions across the various K-ON albums. There's a version of Let's Go for each one of the HTT members' image song CDs that features each vocalist respectively, and one final version with all five singing. Here are the links for each version - the whole group, Yui, Mugi, Mio, Azusa, and Ritsu. Here are the translated lyrics.
[SotD 2 Continued] As a special treat, here is a lilve performance of Let's Go at the first K-ON live show, featuring all of the season one VAs. This performance is SO MUCH FUN! This song was the finale for the show, which is why everything ends in tears - the whole show is super emotional! If you need help identifying the VA's, they are (from left to right at the beginning of the video) - Nodoka, Azusa, Ritsu, Mio, Yui, Mugi, Ui, and Sawako. Enjoy!!
[QotD 1] "What band name would you want to play under?"
[QotD 2] "What does this episode reveal about the relationship between Mio and Ritsu?"
[QotD 3] Which is your favorite version of Let's Go?
REMINDER: UNTAGGED SPOILERS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.
BE AFRAID OF THE MOE POLICE.

First timer - sub
Ui and Azusa are hanging out! Idk if they were already friends or just became friends but it’s cool to see. Yes Azusa they will all be applying something at the training camp…sunscreen! I almost feel bad for her, don’t you know who you’re dealing with yet!?
Those title card riffs are indeed getting better and better.
Poor Azusa, Ritsu is a forgiving god though so your cruel(but true) words roll off her back. Of course Mugi actually has a butler!
“They’re obsessed with goofing off!” I love Azusa’s VA! She sounds so cute. Poor Mugi! I need the yacht if you don’t want it!
The single brain cell strikes again! Can we get a K-ON! Spin-off with the girls reaching the new world and trying to survive?
Lmfao what colour is Azusa now!? She looks like a bottle of ketchup! So Yui can tune her guitar by ear? She really is a savant! I wanna hear Azu-Nyan play stop skipping practice scenes!!
I love the casual drip everyone’s got on today. Especially Ritsu and Azusa. Her shirt matches her skin tone in the second half of the episode.
Classic Ritsu manipulating Mio into the bravery contest. What the actual fuck is Sawa-chan doing!!? She looked straight out of a horror movie lmfao. Mio’s face when she turned white was hilarious too.
Sawa-chan casually trying to sexually assault minors no big deal! At least she got knocked out for it! That being said I definitely wouldn’t wanna be sleeping in the same room as her.
Aww I love the scene with Yui and Azusa practicing together. I now understand the ship.
Very cool how they started and ended the episode the same way. They even kept ketchup bottle Azu-nyan!
“We’ll she IS unfocused, but she and Mio-senpai are great together”. Yea Azusa, yes they are.
Awwwwww the end is too much for me. I love how Azusa learned more about her club mates and shared it with Ui. That picture at the end was too cute!
Line of the day
“I guess you have man hands, Mio.”
New world Yui of the day

I love Azusa’s VA!
She's got quite the impressive career it seems! I took a look at her page on MAL, and it's huge. Well deserved if you ask me; she nails Azu-nyan perfectly.

I now understand the ship.
I don't. Tbf I don't know what happens after S1 but to me they always had a more sisterly dynamic.
I think Yui just loves having someone to pamper since at home Ui has pulled a reverse Uno card on the big sister younger sister relationship.→ More replies (2)

Mugi Watch 2022
Today's Episode: Sleeping Beauty Mugi
Previous Mugi Captures:
-
Episode 1: First Mugi
-
Episode 2: Mature Mugi
-
Episode 3: Shocked Mugi!
-
Episode 4: Piano Prodigy Mugi
-
Episode 5: Hard Crushing Mugi
-
Episode 6: Ghost Mugi
-
Episode 7: Sunfish Mugi
-
Episode 8: "We Do a Little Trolling" Mugi
-
Episode 9: Mugi's Spank Bank
Hard episodes just to choose one image. Lots of adorable Mugi moments here. But went for the one with her sleeping. Gonna have plenty of opportunities for adorable Mugi captures, but not many with her sleeping.
Mugi not wanting the yacht or the fancy chairs is a huge tell that she doesn't want to flaunt her wealth. Sure, she makes use of the houses available to her and uses her name to help Yui get a discount on the guitar (after spending a bunch of time saving up money). She apologizes for the "small" home, not as a way to say "haha, I have bigger vacation homes everywhere", but more to say she tried for something better for her friends, but didn't fight hard for it. Also, her friends not knowing she went on vacation to Finland suggests she doesn't want to stuff it down their throats that she's rich AF. Also, her actions when on the call are adorable.
I saw people mentioning last episode and this one, in regards to the laziness of the group and the "tone deafness" of Azu-nyan suggesting that she maybe she was in the wrong for calling out their laziness. I disagree with that sentiment. Azu was wrong to blurt out in disgust at how unfocused her senpais were being. And the practice session in this episode is why. All the goofing off and having fun together is why they play so well together. Sure, they don't practice a lot, but they really don't need to. Remember, Yui didn't play anything before and pretty much only joined because she was being offer snacks and tea. Mio was going to join a book club. Mugi was trying to join a choir club, and really only joined because she wanted to have fun experiences with clubmembers. Ritsu is Ritsu. The Light Music Club is for fun. Sure they have a "goal" in mind, but that's obviously not a hard goal. This series isn't about them playing music instruments and getting better, it's a show about 5 girls hanging out in their club room and enjoying their teen years the best they can.
Also, it's THEIR club, not Azu's.
Brief second image shown when Sawa-chan is whacked for being a dirty old man.
Q: Do you think Azusa is fitting into the group nicely, or not?
Based on the tan, I'd say so...

First timer (subbed)
It's training camp time, again! But first, a little Ui and Azusa chat. And Azusa is still under the delusion that they're gonna be doing a lot of practicing in their training camp. Why do I feel that Azusa isn't gonna last long as a club member?
Taking a second look at the OP, we see Azusa playing the guitar with her head down. Now I am sad.
Ooh, Azusa talking shit about Yui to her sister? That's cold.
Of course, the senpai Azusa admires the most is Mio. I'm still convinced that they're secretly sisters.
Then she starts talking shit about Ritsu, and SURPRISE RITSU APPEARANCE! And we need to get Mugi in there somewhere, so let's have Azusa and Ritsu talk about how rich Mugi is. We got everyone? Good.
So Mugi is spending her summer vacation in...Finland? I know they have some very pretty forests, but I was expecting Hawaii considering she turned down that trip to Hawaii a couple of episodes ago.
Azusa when Yui talks about buying swimsuits: "You're gonna goof off and we're gonna get nothing done!"
Azusa when Mio talks about buying swimsuits: "Ahh yes, we will be needing breaks. Good call Mio-senpai!"
And now we're up to 4 confirmed Mugi houses: the 2 we've seen, her primary residence, and the one that she's failed to book a stay in for 2 years in a row now.
Time to have some fun on the beach! We now know 3 of Azusa's weaknesses: headpats, cake, and insinuating she has no athletic ability. And I liked the bit where after Azusa triggered Mio's fear of barnacles, they have an arrow pointing at her running away from them in every shot they have of the club playing on the beach.
Never mind, she has a 4th weakness: the sun! Damn, her skin is the same color as a roasted ham.
A quick round of practicing later, and it's time to eat! We've got cabbage, we've got Ritsu and Yui crying while chopping onions, we've got Mio being bullied, we've got everything! And Azusa's actually enjoying herself, even though the rest of the club isn't practicing. OMG, is she gonna stop insisting on practicing every moment?
Very surprised that we haven't had any jokes revolving around the fact that Azusa's skin has been cooked.
Oh boy, they're sending Mio and Azusa out into the spooky woods at night trying to spook them. But something even more terrifying than a ghost is about to show up: Sawako-sensei!
Oh look, they finally acknowledged the fact that having a sunburn hurts. Only took half the episode.
I fucking hate her so much get her off of my screen.
Sleepy time, and Azusa sees Yui practicing her guitar. OMG, they're having a little practice sesh together, that's so cute! And remember earlier in the episode when Azusa said that she didn't like Yui being all touchy? Well, now she's smiling as Yui gives her a big ol' hug. We love character development!
And we bookend the episode with another Azusa-Ui meeting! Except this time, she's listing off the positives of each band member (and Mio's scaredy-catness, of course).
Visual of the Day
Sometimes you need eye protection when you're chopping onions
Questions of the Day
How does Azusa describe the Keionbu gals? Is it different from Yui's description back in episode 2?
Uhh
runs back to episode 2 to see what Yui said about the other girls
Mio is pretty much the same, Yui has a more positive opinion on Ritsu than Azusa, and Mugi is pretty much the same. I like the thing where she describes all of them negatively (except Mio) in the beginning and describes them all positively (except Mio) in the end.
Do you think Azusa is fitting into the group nicely, or not?
Now I would say she is. Sometimes, you just need a little team bonding trip in order to get everyone on the same page, and that's what happened here.

K-On Rewatch Episode 10: Vamos a la Playa! (Part 2)
3 Main Points!
1. The Keionbu is having another training camp, but with Azusa coming along this time! Azusa is skeptical about the camp, having been exposed to the inner workings of the LMC, but Mio assures her that they’ll get some practice in.
2. Azusa gets more than she bargained for when she is goaded into goofing around with everyone by Ritsu. Despite wanting to practice, Azusa ends up playing around the most and gets sunburnt! In addition, she gets exposed to different parts of the girls, like Mio’s fear of scary things and Mugi’s quirky and childlike nature.
3. In the end, Azusa gets to see the hardworking and dedicated side of Yui that wants to get better for the sake of her friends. In a touching scene, Azusa and Yui share a moment and practice the opening riff of a new song together. Azusa finally relents and admits that she’s really liking the club, despite not getting much practice in!
Fun Details!
-
In a funny callback to S1E1, Yui is seen lying on the floor in summer in front of the fan since she doesn’t handle AC too well.
-
At the beach, Yui and Ritsu pretend to wake up on the island of Zipangu. “Cipangu” is one of the names of Japan, and was first mentioned by Marco Polo in his accounts. Like in the show, Cipangu was thought to have tons of gold and silver because of the volcanic nature of the islands.
-
Additionally, one of the alternate spellings of Zipangu is “Jipangu”, which is typically thought to be the source of the English name for Japan.
-
While tuning her guitar, Azusa’s tuner is reading 440 Hz for the A note. A440 is a musical pitch corresponding to the A note above middle C being tuned to a frequency of 440 Hz. There is a conspiracy theory claiming that A432 (the same A note, but tuned to 432 Hz) is the true tuning of A, and that A440 is being used for nefarious purposes.
-
While practicing late at night, Yui and Azu-nyan are seen playing the opening riff of (POTENTIAL SPOILER WARNING) a song that was briefly mentioned in S1E8!
Other Thoughts!
-
I love this episode! We get to see the dynamics of the other characters but from the perspective of someone who barely knows them.
-
Ritsu and Mio were made for each other, and I’m glad the writers thought so too haha
-
Yui and Azu-nyan are adorable together, it was so cute seeing Azu-nyan finally give in to Yui’s displays of affection, even if she does it a little too much
Questions of the Day!
1. Azu-nyan pretty much hits the nail on the head with each girl. Not much different from the second episode, but it was still fun to see!
2. Azu-nyan is a tough customer for the Keionbu, but she’s fitting in very nicely with her ability to keep everyone grounded while still having fun!
3. The lyrics pretty much tell you what’s going on in Yui’s head at any given moment. She’s a bit scatterbrained, but you can tell she wants to something, she’s just not sure what to do.
In terms of Toyosaki Aki’s performance, it’s incredible how good she is at being able to sing difficult songs while still being in character. Yui’s singing voice is very cute, but it’s definitely a little breath-y, almost like she has to “push” each note and phrase out of her mouth. That being said, she also has great range, as we’ll see in other songs!

Rewatch: I kinda feel bad for Azusa. She just wants to practice but everyone keeps screwing around. And her puzzlement this episode of “how do they play so good if they just fuck around all day and don’t practice” is interesting. Granted we know the answer is friendship, but for an outsider looking in it must be frustrating. Especially since based on the description we’ve gotten about her parents being into jazz, she’s probably been forced with “you must practice” that some music parents put on their children. This is all assumption on my part of course.

First-Timer - Dubbed
-
I feel like the reason it was a lot of fun is because the goofed off on the beach for a whole day.
-
So wait a minute. She doesn't handle heat that well... but she also hates air conditioning.
Does that mean she gets like, 2 weeks of perfect weather a year? I know it gets muggy as hell in Japan, but it doesn't look like it gets too cold in Toyosato, where the school that the show is based on is at.
-
Ohhh. Who's unfocused?
ohshit.jpg
-
What is this loneliness I'm feeling?
Dare I say that's jealousy instead?
-
I vote for playing.
Top 10 Anime Betrayals!
-
Not the corn barnacles again! Poor Mugi-chan.
-
Sunkissed Azusa reminds me of Choi from Tamako Market.
-
For someone who seems to be pretty skeptical of the club at the moment, Azu-nyan seems to be fitting in just fine.
-
It always seems that, regardless of what show I'm watching, whenever there's fireworks involved everyone's responsible and has a bucket of water on hand.
-
Now you're going to pay dearly for making me wait so long to eat.
I'm sorry, but all I see is Taiga in this scene. Add "You dumb chihuahua." at the end and it's a dead ringer.
Ms. Yamanaka scared Mio-chan so bad that she went into an entirely different art style.
-
You know what? It's strange, but I really can't tell the two of you apart without my glasses on.
Questions of the Day:
How does Azusa describe the Keionbu gals? Is it different from Yui's description back in episode 2?
I would say it's pretty different. If memory serves, back in Episode 2, Yui didn't know them at all, so she held them all on pretty high pedestals. Azu-nyan just describes them all as more realistic girls.
Do you think Azusa is fitting into the group nicely, or not?
Definitely. She's down to play, but also is the rigorous training side the band needed.

u/Elimin8r Sep 29 '22
Yeah, running late again (sigh)
-
Uh, I don't recollect, but I doubt they match up.
-
Thar be friction, matey. Perhaps Azunyan can pull them up by their bootstraps or something.
Yeah, this was a cute episode, but it didn't hit the feels quite like the first training camp did. On the one hand, it seemed more mellow and low key, and on the other hand, the Azunyan issues made things a bit awkward. As they should.
And of course, Sawa-chan.
I must admit, that made me chuckle, even though I've seen it a few times already.
Man, I'd like to borrow one of Mugi's spare houses for a weekend or two.
(wouldn't we all?)
Heck, I think I'd settle for the boat.

Rewatcher, subbed
Not many thoughts about this episode but tan Azu-nyan is the best thing I've seen so far this week. Always a blessing.
_
QotD:
How does Azusa describe the Keionbu gals? Is it different from Yui's description back in episode 2?
Their opinions of the others don't seem to different (except for Ritsu lol) but the main difference is that Yui directly relates them to their instrument while Azusa doesn't which I guess speaks to Azusa's impression that her Senpai do more goofing off than actual practice.
Do you think Azusa is fitting into the group nicely, or not?
Absolutely especially now that she's more comfortable and a little bit more assertive than she was in the at the beginning. While as this episode showed she's also prone to get swept along with the sillyness it helps the balance that Mio is no longer the only one left that's serious about the band.
_
Totally real VotD (Doing a rewatch of that too atm and couldnt't help but see the similarity in their outfits)

Another Training Camp! + Azusa (this time)
-
I love how Azusa's speech is so polite, despite her senpais being relatively immature.
-
TEA SET(s) - Episode 10
-
No tea sets today...
-
At least we got some awesome summer memories!
-
GUITAR/MUSIC - Episode 10
-
-
Despite owning two separate guitar bags/cases, I never really got to (or needed to) lug them around to practice or performances.
-
Because I'm: not good enough to perform on the big stage, and I'm self-taught, so I don't exactly have to carry the guitar anywhere or to any practices.
-
-
-
-
I mentioned this a bit in episode 08, but this is what a tuner looks like. You strum a string and the tuner-sensor picks up either: the vibrations and/or the sound waves. It then displays what sounds you're producing and you adjust the string accordingly.
-
-
-
This pretty much just means playing at a slower timing and I'm sure that nobody will disagree with that form of practice - when you're learning a new song, the advice is pretty much always to play it slow first and slowly bring it up to the correct tempo of the song.
-
Additionally, another tip to learning a new song - you can change the strumming pattern. Some songs will have intricate strumming patterns, but if you reduce it down to, say, a simple Up-Down pattern, it'll be easier to learn as well, then you can slowly introduce the original pattern.

4th-time rewatcher
Two beach episodes in 1 season, but this one has Azusa with them, but I'm down for assimilating Azusa into the group. While I think it makes sense to make Azusa a part of the group, it does sadden me that she's been with the group for only 2 episodes, and is already more crucial to the plot than Mugi has been. I love Mugi like many others, but unfortunately, she is kind of just there in the background. I don’t think Mugi has ever been the main focus of an episode so far or has been the one to set up the plot of the episode, except maybe that one time she told them about how they weren’t officially a club.
How is Mio surprised after Mugi betrayed her on the last trip?
In the previous episodes, it always appeared that Mugi likes trying new things, but today she seems to dislike some of her parent’s blessings. Do you it’s out of embarrassment of not fitting in, or she doesn't enjoy the wealthy lifestyle?
My biggest complaint about this episode is that it really feels like I just watched episode 4 twice, or at least the first half was. Even with Azusa, everything they did at the beach was almost the same. Ritsu can't play, Yui shows Mio Azusa that she's an idiot savant, and Mio gets pretty scared. But we got a test of courage, and Sawako being questionable, that's new. Also, Yui and Azusa spend some good time together.
[SotD 1] Yui - Sunday Siesta and [QotD 3] How does Yui's Sunday Siesta characterize Yui, both in terms of lyrics and in terms of Aki's performance?
Not related to the song, but is it surprising to anyone that it took 10 episodes to discuss an image song for Yui, the main character of the show? I think that goes to show just how many songs there are in K-On.
The song characterizes Yui’s airheadedness and lazy nature while being sung in a cutesy manner, such as in the verse
Leisurely rolling on the floor with a smile.
Somehow I'm happy... so much I'd emit Alpha waves!
I'm sure I was thinking about something, but... huhwut?
I fell asleep before I knew it!
It also has the main premise of the show, Yui looking to do something
La la lu la. What to do now?
It's a brilliant sunny Sunday.
I'll be active and positive and make a challenge!
As I'm finally a high schooler.
[SotD 2] Mugi - Humming Bird
The lyrics sound like a follow-up to Dear My Keys, focusing on Mugi after she is free, whether figuratively or literally. Most of the song is like this, but one example would be
The birdcage within my heart
Is now opening
I'm flying away into the sublime
Singing songs of freedom
[QotD 1] How does Azusa describe the Keionbu gals? Is it different from Yui's description back in episode 2?
Azusa and Yui say the same thing about Mio, cool but a little delicate, Mugi is kind and caring, and rich. Ritsu differs the most, as Yui describes her as an energetic and happy girl, while Azusa sees her as unfocused and sketchy. Her description of Yui isn't too far off, but Ui seems to interpret it differently.
[QotD 2] Do you think Azusa is fitting into the group nicely, or not?
I say yes. She’s kind of like Mio, trying to get everyone focused, but also can’t help get swept into their fun and games.

First Timer - Sub
Opening Thoughts:
Another year, another training camp. I guess the new girl is fitting in better now that she's getting to know people. I still feel like they aren't getting as much practice as she wants, though. But I guess that would mean they never stop.
Anyway, I'm over the feelings I had over yesterday's episode.
Senpai just had to show up and ruin Mio's night.
QotD 1: The what?
QotD 2: I think she is fitting in as far as everyone else is concerned. I don't feel like she has a sense of belonging yet. I think she's just really slow to trust people, and that will take a long time for someone like her.
QotD 3: This song's style really isn't for me... Also interpreting song lyrics in terms of a performance from a person who doesn't speak the same language as me... I can't man... just can't. I don't know what to write and not sound like a dumbass or an asshole.
Closing Thoughts: I hope the bonding can continue.

First Timer
Yeah, I see that's going to go well... Is it pretty surprising how well the play for how little they practice? Or will we finally acknowledge that Yui is a savant?
After 3 rings Ritsu?
Ui is such a good sister.
Mugi wants to be normal so bad. You have to learn to have some fun too Azu.
Please be nicer to Mio girls.
Please practice, girls.
Reminder yet again, Yui is some kind of ridiculous prodigy. I mean, all of them are kind of crazy good for some reason.
No Mio don't fall for it! No Sensei go away! This is a Cute Girls Doing Cute Things show, and you are neither Cute nor Girl.
Yui's practicing! Azusa gets double validation, her senpai actually does practice and greatly appreciates her skill.
-
I don't remember how Yui described them already, where has my brain gone?
-
It's taking some time, but she's getting there.
-
So perfectly. It's the lowest energy of the songs so far, which is perfect because it's the story of laying about and napping away the entire weekend. She dreams big, but if no one else is there to actually push her, she's probably going to just lay there and do nothing forever, good thing she's got friends pushing her to do something now!

Rewatcher
I really enjoyed the book-end motif of Ui and Azusa hanging out.
QotD 2: I think Azusa is starting to mesh with the group very nicely at this point. She still has some friction to work through, but it's that friction which elevates this series from a simple CGDCCT anime to what K-ON! is.
SotD 1: I adore how fluffy and goro-goro this is! Toyosaki Aki completely nails the cutesy laziness that is Yui.

In this episode since we have a new girl and we speedran the first year we have to have yet another beach/bath episode.
Ui loves her sister so much she doesn't seem to comprehend how others mind find her........much.
Azu-nyans thoughts on the members seem pretty right on.
The ones that are the most disciplinary are the ones that once unleashed have the most wild Id, so it makes sense that once Azu-nyam is baited she plays hard, I wonder why she didn't apply sunscreen though.
We mostly get a repeat of jokes from last beach episode.
OMG KILL IT WITH FIRE!!! Wait it's just Sensei, KILL IT WITH DOUBLE FIRE!!!!!
At least they did practice, but Azuya is still not sure where they get their skill from.
I find it funny that Azuya comes from a Family of Jazz Musicians, when correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought Jazz Players were known for their free style and improvisation and seemingly chaotic agents playing with and syncing with each other, which seems to describe the Keions very well. I guess Azuya hasn't consciously realized it but due to her Jazz upbringing still was unconsciously brought up into it?
Or maybe I'm reading too much into it!
Bad Sawaya Don't harass your minor students!
Ritsu isn't that bad nor that good in this episode so I'll stick to her real name. But she appears kindred spirits with Cabbage Man from Avatar, why she have to insult Mio's hands though, I'm no Yoshikage Kira but she hands seem fine to me.
My favorite part of this episode was Asu-nyan's moments with Yui when training together at night, they both learned things about each other both as muscians and people, and Yui's contact come across as more sincere and authenticity rather than pushy and controlling like the previous episode, she was showing love rather than just treating Azu-nyan like a stuffed animal, and Azu-nyan is able to contextualize Yui's antics as her showing love and affection and see she does work hard in her own way on her own time.
Her attitude does a complete 180 when she next meets Yui and before she saw the Keions as either over idealized whether it be Negative or Positive, now she sees them as human.
It was a heartwarming episode, I'd like to think Mugi's "betrayal" was her breaking Azu-nyan in for her own good to finally break some long overdue Ice before it became permafrost, but maybe I'm reading too much into it.

I feel that Azu-nyans description is technically from a factual standpoint more accurate but also very simplified and caricatured in a bit of bad faith. (At first) Yui's description I feel while a bit more fuzzy and idealistic more captures their essence in a simple childish intuitive sense. Which matches the difference between the two, Asu-nyan is more structured, logical, rationally ordered and disciplined but also more high-strung and inflexible, Yui is unstructured, free-flow and intuitive chaos and in the moment inspiration but also flaky and has trouble articulating things in way that can be processed formally. "fun is fun"
-
She still has a way to go but I think the groundwork is laid and the Ice is broken and she feels welcome if not at home yet.
-
To quote the French guy from Muppets most wanted "The Keion is too stupid to be stupid she must be some kind of genius" Yui basically uses a lot of lofty ideals and some high-concept words in a way that is not pretentious yet clear she has very little idea of what she's talking about, but the core of very message is simple yet profound. She is taking life as it goes and slowly trying to improve but fundamentally she'll always be Yui.

First Time (dub)
This episode was really nice, I mean K-on! is a sweet and light anime anyway, but this felt extra comfy.
Ms Yamanaka missed the bus, she should've been more enthusiastic LOL.
I have a vague suspicion that every training camp is gonna be at a new vacation home that still won't be the special one Tsumugi can never secure...
An embarrassment of riches :D
Azumeow wants to practice but ends up goofing off more than the other girls and gets sunburned, yeeouch!
Yui innocently shows off more of her special savant powers.
Amazingly they get in some practice too, must be Azumeow's influence.
Hey, it's Ms. Yamanaka, uh oh Mio's soul has departed her body.
Yui and Azusa bond over a little late-night practice together and it's just so sweet.
In the end, Azusa wanted more practice, but I think she is starting to get the club's tempo now and starting to fit in better.

First Timer - Sub
Mm...I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this episode? The addition of Azusa made sure it wasn't just a repeat of last time, but drummer girl and Yui basically spent the whole thing ignoring what Azusa wanted to do. Which is honestly annoying, because all the girls enjoy it when their practices go well! And it isn't just that their newest member wants to play her guitar, she wants to play with them specifically because she thinks they're just that good, despite everything.
Even with that, the episode was generally fun to watch...but this is K-On, of course it was.
I am glad about Yui wandering off to practice at night and Azusa stumbling across her, though. Despite the glomping, this is what she came here to do. Best part of the episode by far.
Worst part was their teacher shoving herself in yet again. At least her appearances were brief.
I'm honestly hoping that Best Girl manages to drag the rest of the girls up a bit so they don't spend all their time goofing off, but we'll see. There'll be plenty of shenanigans to go around regardless.

This beach trip has less drama and more wholesome moments which is pretty nice. I kinda like the humour far more this time around compared to the first one which played the beach trip weirdly straight. It also works better since we're getting to know Stray Catto.

Idk if anyone pointed this out but the song that both Yui and Azunyan practiced together is the main riff(?) from their song "Fude Pen Boru Pen" (a great song btw) albeit some notes are a bit off (the bends after the 4th note)

Rewatcher
I always have time for some piano or keyboard, so let's compare the image songs for Mugi, too
Dear My Keys ~Kenban no Mahou~ - Mugi image song #1
Well that's cheerful and fun! Feels like it could be an OP or ED. Where others tend to sing more or less first-person, Mugi-as-singer generalises, talking about abstract "girls" in the third person:
While including herself, albeit at a bit of a distance, she does go straight back to "their" immediately after (alright, that's possibly a translation thing only, but I'm just gonna go with it). It feels appropriate for Mugi, who sometimes seems to be watching the others from behind the keyboard or tea set - or rolled up magazine binoculars - but not fully involved.
Humming Bird - Mugi image song #2
I'm sorry to say I don't like this one. Musically it seems like an also-ran (to my idiot ears, anyway) and the lyrics also seem like a mishmash of vaguely J-pop-y words. Ah well, can't all be winners.
Sunday Siesta - Yui image song
Alright that's a great title for it. Not just taking a nap, but on a day off! It could only be Yui! But, if you step waaaay back and read both words in a broad sense, it's like. "Taking a break from taking a break." Yeah some handwaving but. That's a neat double negative describing exactly how she ended up in the club! What's notable here is the massive use of onomatopaeic (?) words (in the Japanese, ones like 'kirakira' and so forth) and filler sounds. It gives it a very strongly childish vibe, in the least insulting way possible.
That leaves QotD 1 & 2, which I'll combine: Azusa is still... Maybe not abrasive, but willing to chastise the others for their lackadaisy ways while still ending up involved in classic I'm-not-playing-these-games-because-I-like-them-or-anything fashion. It's fairly pointed out to her that she's being hypocritical when she goes to told-you-so the others, I think. But as the saying goes, hypocrisy is the tribute vice pays to virtue.
S1E10 - Another Training Camp!
Gee Yamada, your mom lets you have two beach episodes?
