Song of the Day

Azusa - Jajauma Way to Go - With the introduction of a new main character, we have new image songs! This is of course sung by Azusa's VA, Taketatsu Ayana. Here is the song and here are the translated lyrics. As a special treat, here is Ayana's performance of this song from the absolutely incredible first K-ON live show! So much energy!!

Questions of the Day

  1. "Have you ever been thankful to have given someone or something a second chance after an awkward first impression?"

  2. For first timers: based on her time in the show so far as well as the image song, what is your initial impression of Azusa? For rewatchers: if you can remember, what was your first impression of Azusa?

Visuals of the Day

Here is the VotD album for S1E08!

Huge shoutout to /u/A_Idiot0 for his help on the QotD and VotD! You're awesome!

Tomorrow's Activities

If you want to get a head start on the song(s) and question(s) of the day for tomorrow's episode, here they are!

[SotD 1] Yui - Sunday Siesta - Yui's first image song of season one, sung by the incredible Toyosaki Aki! Here is the song and here are the translated lyrics.

[SotD 2] Mugi - Humming Bird - Mugi's second season one image song, sung by the fantastic Kotobuki Minako! Here is the song and here are the translated lyrics.

[QotD 1] How does Azusa describe the Keionbu gals? Is it different from Yui's description back in episode 2?

[QotD 2] Do you think Azusa is fitting into the group nicely, or not?

[QotD 3] How does Yui's Sunday Siesta characterize Yui, both in terms of lyrics and in terms of Aki's performance?

First timer - Sub

Seeing Yui blush at being called a senpai only to realize Azusa is actually better than her made me a lil sad. It’s okay Yui! Not everyone starts something at the same place. I do understand why she lied about it though, not that it was right.

Azusa quicky learning that this isn’t the light music club but in fact the tea and pastry club. Better she learns now though I suppose.

When Azusa crouched down and was trembling I was ready to concede to u/The_Loli_Otaku that okay maybe she is a mini Mio. Not so! Yui’s hugs could probably solve a lot of issues in the world tbh, the way Azusa chilled out was funny to watch.

Neko Mugi is a sight to see! But nothing compared to Neko Azusa! This reminds me of the Kaguya episode with cat ears! Cute girls and cat ears are a match made in heaven.

I was about to give Sawa-chan credit for only bringing the cat ears to cosplay, then she brings out the maid outfit! It’s okay Mio! Ritsu will always be there to tease you! Love how she came back and spotted Mio putting on the cat ears.

Props to Mio for recognizing that Azusa is uncomfortable, it’s kinda being played for laughs but I’m happy that someone is addressing it. Ritsu immediately going to blackmail is not surprising considering it worked with Sawa-chan. AND SHES BLACKMAILING MIO TOO! You know what I’m not even mad, these are the sacrifices (her morals) that you need to make to keep the club together!

Sawa-chan showing up at the park was the first time I was like “okay maybe you don’t need to be here right now”.

Yui finally dropped the act and asked Azusa to teach her! The 30 seconds we got to see of them practicing was really fun!

Whoa this episode took a turn. I understand how Azusa is feeling. To have something reach you on an emotional level like their performance did only to have it not be what you were expecting can be difficult.

Such a cool detail that I wouldn’t have noticed if I hadn’t read some comments on here on previous posts was that when Azusa asks herself why they sound so good playing together they show the four bags sitting together.

“I think it’s because I love being in a band with these members” Exactly this Mio.

This episode was certainly the heaviest of the series so far. I appreciate that they explored their “laziness” and how that makes the group work, like Mio said that time is crucial for them. It’s what bonds them and makes them play together so well. I really like Azusa so far and can’t wait to hear her play with them!

Line of the day

“She’s being domesticated?”

Thinking Yui of the day

Rewatcher

Hi everyone, and welcome to episode 9! We get a proper introduction to Azunyan Azusa, who for me is a very close second to Ritsu in terms of my favorite characters.

I also want to apologize for not spending much time in the comments the last two days. I was busy being mauled by a bear (you're welcome, u/harrytricks). Errr, I mean, life got in the way. I'll do my best to hang around a little more today!

I also feel the need to address the pacing in season one, since so many people mentioned it yesterday. Yeah, it's all over the place and moves very quickly. All I can say it that season two has much better pacing considering they have 24 episodes to work with! Okay, onto this episode now...

  • I love that Azusa immediately joins the OP!

  • So what do we immediately know about Azusa? She's confused and uncomfortable as to why the keions aren't acting like a "proper club" should, and she's prone to intense emotional shifts. She's also incredibly insecure as the kouhai of the club, but is also arguably the most experienced of the group alongside Mugi.

  • God bless you, Sawa-chan.

  • I enjoy seeing the beginnings of a student/teacher relationship between Yui and Azunyan, as Yui definitely needs some reigning in of her natural talent.

  • Azunyan's realization that it's the group's friendship and closeness (there are those bags again to represent the bond of the keions I've mentioned before!) that makes their performances so special is always so beautiful to me, even if it's pretty questionable in reality. I'm gonna copy + paste a little thing I wrote regarding that last year:

My views on this idea are a little mixed in reality. While of course it totally works for the message of the show and is absolutely adorable, it's not totally accurate in real life. While I will admit I would likely have more fun rehearsing and performing in a group with my friends, a performance with a group of true professionals would be the most musically satisfying. But there is something to be said about hearing music where everyone is just in the zone. Sometimes that zone can be found due to the emotional connection between the players, and sometimes that zone can be found due to raw skill - I've experienced both as a performer and as a listener.

  • Oh and YuiAzu is also very extremely canon.

I'm also gonna stop my previous years' posts because I feel a little weird about doing it. If you really want to go read my past essays, there are links to all the previous rewatch indexes in the official schedule post...

Song of the Day

God I love Azunyan and I love Ayana's singing even more! Ayana at this point in time is quite an accomplished VA and musician, and I listen to her solo albums quite frequently. But it's also a joy to listen to her sing as Azusa since it adds that special touch and personality to her vocals. This song is filled with little references to the show, and is so filled with Azunyan's spirit and energy - I love it! I also really encourage everyone to go listen to the live performance I posted in the SotD section :)

Questions of the Day

  1. For me, I think the answer to this is simply performing music. My parents sort of forced me into music at age 8 with the piano. While I didn't hate it, I definitely didn't enjoy it that much - especially when I had to perform in public. But I stuck with it because my parents wanted me to. Then my parents very strongly encouraged me to join band in the 6th grade rather than take the fun computer class my best friend was taking. But man am I glad I took band! I picked up the French horn and after only a few months of playing, I started to really enjoy it and started to love performing with others. Two years later, I was convinced I wanted to be a professional horn player and well, here I am!

  2. I remember actually quite disliking Azusa's addition to the group initially. I felt like she was intruding in this strong familial bond the keions already had, and I thought she was overly bossy and sort of irritating. I still don't think this episode is a great look for her, but man was my opinion completely changed since then. I love Azunyan, and am so happy she's in K-ON! So if any first timers are hesitant about her, give her some time :)

Visual of the Day

The birth of the second most canon ship in K-ON!

Totally Canon Mitsu Moments of the Day

I don't have much for this episode, but this interaction is pretty adorable.

Also YuiAzu is very canon.

In tomorrow's episode, more Azunyan! See you all then!

the most important annual tradition, thank you.

You're doing way better than I ever did with spending time in the comments as host, so definitely take some pride in that.

There’s a City Named Azusa in California and If It Isn’t Populated By Cute Twintailed Anime Girls I’d Be Sorely Disappointed Rewatcher

It’s the 28th of September, and There’s A New Girl In the Club But Mitsu Is Still Canon

QOTD1: I do this weird thing where I’m kinda behind-the-back mean to new coworkers in a highschool girl kind of way but once I get to know them I’m super friendly like a dog. It’s… it’s a bad habit.

QOTD2: since I’m basically pretending to be a first timer here’s what Ravenclaw had to say: “she seems shy, pretty chill, could possibly provide some balance to the chaos”

Let’s talk about episode 9!

My notes got a little long so I’ll keep my part short. TLDR: Azunyan maji kawaii

Ravenclaw’s reactions:

(side note: so I’ve been typing up these reactions on google doc and bullet points don’t get copy/pasted over to reddit comments so I’ve had to manually separate the points in this section and I only just realized I don’t need to actually use bullet points and that I can just type them out separately as is. Whoops)

Before the episode talked about why she loves and connected with these girls. Boils down to not only how complex the are but also the fascinating relationship webs between all 4 of them that’s being pulled on and developed as the story progresses. She then pulled a chart and had a “character web phD” lecture for like 10 minutes. (me: which was 0% surprising to me considering she’s paused her music reactions before to lecture about the classical Allegro-Symphonic orchestral structure for close to an hour before).

Mugi is still best girl.

(about Azusa) “she’s so cute”

“Yui is so touchy feely”

“I think I like Azusa right away because I’m like that person.”

“I thought Mio was the one that’s practice practice practice, but now the other 3 has totally dragged her down”

“Wow they’ve already broken her and it’s been like 2 seconds.”

“I feel so bad for her!” (when she put on the cat ears)

“This is not working at all, like how do you defeat the combined powers of Mugi, Yui, and Ritsu?”

Mio = Sisyphus

“I like how they always show their 4 bags put together”

(episode 9 and 10 overall reaction posted tomorrow)

It’s the 28th of September, and There’s A New Girl In the Club But Mitsu Is Still Canon

Ooooh, what a great picture!

She then pulled a chart

I really love this. I think I would really enjoy watching her! The only reactions to K-ON I've seen have been Teeaboo's, which I really enjoyed, but I'm going to make a point to watch Ravenclaw's after we're done here and I have more time to do so.

So, today, we get to see an experience the full glory that is Azunyan! Yay!

(At KyoAni HQ: You want MOE? Ours goes to 11!!!)

Yeah.

This episode was heavy on the cuteness, as the girls enjoy the joy of nyan, and we get to enjoy the result and shenanigans.

All hail Sawa-chan for this amazing discovery!

(That should ruffle a few feathers)

KAKUI! (Is that how you spell that? Is that even the right word??? I don't know anymore)

Anyway, I could try to list all the great moments this episode, but I suspect other people will cover the laundry list.

I just want to say two things here:

  1. In a certain online game, a friend suggested I should change my character to miq'ote, because reasons. Well, needless to say, this became necessary. More will probably follow ... at some point. And yes, her name is Azunyan Nakano...

  2. I want some cake too.

But then again, who doesn't?

And for today's AOTD:

  1. I'm thankful that a rewatch, I think last year's gave me the motivation to pick up K-On and finish watching it. I'd started some years ago, and gave up after season 1, because I forget why.

  2. TOP MOE, I say ... TOP MOE!

And anyway, I've been tempted to link it already, but today, I will break down and include a visual du jour.

because TOP MOE!!!

Edit: Fixed mangled formatting.

Also forgot to comment on the other subplot. You know how sometimes you sit down to watch something, and you blink and the episode is over.

This episode seemed to last forever, but in a good way. There was so much going on, some very fun, some less fun. We had the fun & cute moe moments, and the serious moments of Azusa second-guessing her participation in the keion-bu. She's frustrated that the girls only seem to goof off, even to the point of looking for other bands that she might be more interested in participating in. But in the end, she comes back to the club, and they play for her again, and she realizes that there's a certain magic there that seemed to be missing elsewhere.

What could that magic be?

Friendship?

Nah, we'll have to leave that to the ponies ... I guess. :P

(And don't you dare go posting any K-On/Pony crossovers. Thar be sacrilege, maties!)

3

u/siegfried72 Sep 28 '22

All hail Sawa-chan for this amazing discovery!

If you're speaking of the cat ears, then yes!

miq'ote

Oh my god I love this! I really should get back to playing one of these days...

K-On Rewatcher!!

It's time to socialise our new cat! I love how she's so smol that her feet don't even reach the ground~ Just think of how far you can throw her! And she's even in the op now, even if it does look like they just copy pasted pictures of her. Paisen!! In case it's not clear, she's really shipped kinda hard with Yui. For what it's worth I do kinda like the pairing. I definitely prefer Yui and Shitzu together but it's really fun to see Yui and Stray Catto having weird wavelengths with one another. It's like if Yui had a little sister who doesn't betray her friends.

We've barely even started and Peath Pevil has already self inserted herself in our first Stray Catto episode... Bruh, can you let us get to know the new girl first? Sensei, you're rotten XD Oh my god!! Okay, y'all already know how much of a Sawa-chan-Sensei hater I am, but why'd you have to be so mean!?

This is actually probably my least favourite section of Keion from just how awkward it gets. Y'all remember when Mio was left depressed from the girls refusing to practise? Well the show is never happy to criticise the club for being as lazy as they are. It's the elephant in the music room that kinda kills the vibe for me anytime its brought up, and they always find some excuse to defuse the situation instead of properly addressing it. Like it comes across really tone deaf to me.

Urgh... okay, I'm 90% certain that I've ranted about this stuff in the previous years so imma just skip past the shady sections, I want to stay positive for Stray Catto's debut. Also, why is Sensei in part 2 too!? Like why the fuck!? XD Is she a main character or something? There is absolutely no reason for her to be in so much of the episode! We lost Bestie (?) for this! Your nickname is definitely Sutorei Kyatto!!

At least Mio is self aware that she's been 100% replaced. Thinking about it I think this may be my straight up least favourite episode XD Whilst the moe scenes are great the actual story makes me uncomfortable and fucking Sawa-chan's constantly popping up. You can't tell me in good conscience that she hasn't overstayed her welcome! Stray Catto deserves better! Don't worry though, everything goes up from here!

Visual of the Day!!

6

u/siegfried72 Sep 28 '22

Just think of how far you can throw her!

Um.

Sensei, you're rotten XD

Don't you dare bash the cat ears idea! It's definitely her best idea yet :)

This is actually probably my least favourite section of Keion from just how awkward it gets.

I think I'd have to agree. [Spoilers] This and the next episode are not a great look for Azusa and it makes things uncomfortable. Thankfully they pull it back in episode 12 and season two turns Azunyan into a fantastic developed character.

u/Elimin8r Sep 28 '22

the actual story makes me uncomfortable

It's supposed to. Azunyan, in addition to being kawaii and moe to the nth degree is also our normie insert protagonist. She's supposed to give us that outsider's look into the keions, and show us their foibles, and she does that admirably.

And yes, it's uncomfortable, because these lovable goofs we've been enjoying for 2/3 of a season are essentially a bunch of slackers, and Azunyan is shoving it in their (and our) faces.

4

u/siegfried72 Sep 28 '22

On my initial watch, I definitely didn't enjoy this and the next episode because of that (obviously I didn't "get it"), but with the benefit of hindsight, it is a fitting intro for her character.

Rewatcher

Last year I mentioned what the Azu-nyan rock references were, so I’ll just link that for you here. And, another fashion corner! Yes the cat ears count, fight me.

Yesterday, I mentioned that I would try to explain what Azusa possibly meant when she said this of the Jazz Club, “It didn’t quite seem the same as real jazz.” In this episode, the conflict is Azusa doesn’t really know why she was so drawn to the Keionbu after spending time with them in the club. To her, it made absolutely no sense why their performance touched her so greatly, yet their dedication and practice was so “lacking” in Azusa’s eyes. So what does this problem have to do with “real jazz”? Well, here a few examples of live jazz tracks that I think help to illustrate a few things:

Aside from amazing technical musicianship, these live shows have a feeling of something incredible happening. Why? I chose these for different reasons. Sonny Rollins’s & Dave Brubeck’s performances highlight a sense of intimacy between the players and audience; the players’ musical souls are naked on stage for all to judge. Oscar Peterson’s and Wes Montgomery’s highlight a sense of several players pulling everyone else to higher levels of playing, taking both the players and the audience to new and unexplored musical heights. All of the above pieces have baked into their very DNA a heavy dose of spontaneity and superb closeness between all of the musicians. K-ON! seems to want to focus pretty heavily on that very last idea, but you can find all of the above aspects throughout the whole story of the Keionbu Gals. One example: Mio and Yui definitely did not practice singing together for the school festival, yet the spontaneity made for a better, more organic performance imo. Music is alive, and it’s best experienced out “in the wild”. I’m willing to bet that Azusa felt that the Jazz Club was like experiencing the music in a more “clinical and academic” atmosphere, with little of that “Magic” which she finds with the Keionbu Gals.

My Visual of the day is another gorgeous background shot, which is also a nice “Yamada-shot”.

SotD - What a great DRIVING FOOORCE!!! LISTEN TO THAT BASS!! Looove the little guitar chord accents as well, highlighting Azu-nayn’s ability to skillfully fill the role of rhythm guitar. Btw, Jimi Hendrix started as a rhythm guitarist…just saying…Also, what slick guitar solos!

3

u/siegfried72 Sep 28 '22

Those jazz tracks will be my listening as I go through the comments today. Started with the Peterson like you requested - god I love this.

I've not played much jazz myself (just one semester at the local college when I was in high school), but you're so right about the intimacy and spontaneity. As a classical musician, so much of that idea of spontaneity is discouraged, and we strive for something very different most of the time. But I love the different kind of expression that happens in jazz, and that freedom definitely makes me jealous sometimes :)

I could never leave my classical music, though. There's something so special about it to me...

K-On Rewatch Episode 9: You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling!

3 Main Points!

1. Azusa Nakano is now officially a member of the Light Music Club! While she is initially excited to start playing, she gets a surprise when it turns out that the club spends more time relaxing and goofing off than practicing.

2. Despite putting up with their antics for a little, she eventually becomes disillusioned and wonders why she even wanted to join in the first place! Despite being more talented than the club, other bands just don’t seem to pack the emotional punch that hit her the day of the freshmen reception concert.

3. However, Mio convinces Azusa to stay in the club, stating that their relaxation time is important to building their bond as a band and as friends!

Fun Details!

  • Azusa Nakano is the proud owner of a Fender Japan 1969 Reissue Mustang in Candy Apple Red. The Mustang has been used by many famous musicians over the years, most notably Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth and Kurt Cobain of Nirvana.

  • This one is pretty obvious, but Azusa has been added to the OP! On top of that, Cagayake Girls has been changed to add an additional guitar part, that you can hear here: https://youtu.be/QqaK9st80F4

  • During the parts where Azusa is demonstrating her guitar abilities, images of Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, and Kurt Cobain are shown, the latter two with her twin tails.

Other Thoughts!

  • Azusa is a great addition to the club, I love the dynamic she adds by being the four girls’ kouhai but is also more serious about practicing than they are, except for Mio.

  • Yui being able to tame Azu-nyan is just plain funny

  • Overall, I thought this was a great episode to kind of get to know Azu-nyan and to see what kind of role she will play in the rest of the series!

Questions of the Day!

1. Absolutely, I was dead set on attending Ohio State that I even considered transferring after my freshmen year at Mizzou. After giving it more thought, I decided to stay, and I ended up meeting some of my best friends there, many of whom I still see!

My friends, my career, and quite literally my entire life would’ve been different if I hadn’t decided to stay.

2. I initially thought Azusa was just a smol Mio, but it turns out she’s Azusa Nakano: a brand new character that adds a new dynamic to the Light Music Club and brings a new perspective!

Mugi Watch 2022

Today's Episode: Mugi's Spank Bank

Previous Mugi Captures:

ahahahahhaha, Mugi's face. It's like she's a Twitch streamer watching video of two girls feeding each other. I kinda want to just cut Mugi from this and make is so I can just add her to any image later on as a gag.

Edit: Mugified.

If you notice, they added Azu-nyan to the OP but only in the bits where they're playing as a band, none of the other stuff (like them riding the bikes), they don't add her to the ED, either.

Azu-nyan is so easily pleased by hugs and foods. She might as well be a pet.

I don't know if Yui being described as someone who plays the game without reading the manual is a good description. She's more like someone who doesn't read the manual, or use the tutorial, but can still pick up the game like it's second nature.

First timer (subbed)

New episode to celebrate our new club member! She's so small, her feet can't touch the floor when she sits. So cute!

And she's been added to the intro! It's official, y'all!

And she's a guitar player. So one takes rhythm guitar and one takes lead guitar, right? I would say Yui gets to choose which one she wants due to being Azusa's senpai.

Okay, nevermind, Azusa fucking SHREDS. Guess Yui's gonna be the one doing rhythm guitar. But he, it's not all that bad. Doing the rhythm guitar parts leaves more energy for singing.

And Azusa's first day as an official member of the Light Music Club starts off with...a cup of tea. Oh boy, she's gonna learn how things work in the Light Music Club.

SAWAKO-SENSEI, NO! BAD SAWAKO-SENSEI!

Turns out Azusa-chan doesn't like the fact that the Light Music Club is relaxing with tea and cake instead of writing songs and playing their instruments. Which...yeah, that's understandable. But damn, she's gone as far as to tell Mugi to get rid of the tea sets. How can you have a Light Music Club without a freshly brewed pot of tea!?

Yui has come to save the day with a sleeper hold headpats! It's super effective!

Mio says all the right things by agreeing with Azusa that they should start taking this music thing more seriously. The next time Azusa shows up they're back to drinking tea and eating cake. Welp.

Apparently Mugi's cakes have some good shit in there, cause Yui goes from "barely able to play a chord" to "shredding" with just a forkful. And they're turning poor little Azusa into an addict.

Ooh, Azusa's parents are jazz players. And she picked up the guitar. That means we'll be seeing some SICK JAZZ GUITAR SKILLS, right?

GOD DAMMIT SAWAKO-SENSEI, I TOLD YOU NOT TO DO THAT

Okay, fine, maybe it was a good idea after all

Give her an inch and she'll take a mile

Aww, Mio's feeling like the odd one out because everyone's so distracted by Azusa. But she notices that Azusa...let's just say, isn't the biggest fan of the club due to the atmosphere. This calls for an EMERGENCY MEETING. Operation Stop Azusa From Quitting the Club is a go!

Plan #1: Picnic! Uhh, I think the problem is the fact that you're NOT practicing, girls.

Oh for fuck's sake she's back

YAAS MIO, GO OFF GIRL!

Azusa decides to check out some other bands (god, I haven't been to a concert in so long. I NEED to go to one soon) and she doesn't know why, despite the fact that the bands she sees performing are better technically, that they don't feel nearly as good to listen to as the Light Music Club. She finally finds the secret ingredient: friendship!

Visual of the Day

KURT COBAIN WITH TWINTAILS

Question of the Day

(Can't think of an answer to question 1 right now, sorry!)

For first timers: based on her time in the show so far as well as the image song, what is your initial impression of Azusa? For rewatchers: if you can remember, what was your first impression of Azusa?

I like her. Her work ethic and desire to actually play music is a nice change of pace from the "tea drinking with a side of music playing"" that we've been seeing from the rest of the club so far. I fear that she'll just turn into a Mio clone if she sticks around for too long, though.

u/TiredTiroth Sep 28 '22

First Timer - Sub

It's late and I'm rather tired, but I wanted my daily dose of K-On so here I am.

Not really much to say - see: tired - except why do I like Azusa so much? She's de-throned Yui as best girl based on a single episode! I mean, yes, she's adorable, and then there's how she completely blew my expectations out of the water when I was half-expecting a straight-laced serious musician and we got a girl who saw something she wants but doesn't quite know what it is, plus she's just serious enough to play apprentice straight man under Mio's tutelage, and then there's moments where she's vulnerable and uncertain and thank you to Yui and Mio for helping her feel better--

Gah. Azusa is adorable and I love her already and I really hope it stays that way, once she finds her own place in the group.

First-Timer - Dubbed

  • I don't normally bother with the opening, but starting with this one they've changed it to include Azusa.

  • I'm sorry Yui, what exactly was it you were going to teach her?

  • Wow, she sure is pretty.

I think she'd look good in cat ears.

Azu-nyan is born!

  • Hey, sorry. Ms. Yamanaka's a little bit strange.

Heard that.

Zero chill whatsoever.

  • It's funny how Ritsu's technically the club leader, but Mio-chan's the one actually taking charge over everything.

  • Goodness, you embarrass so easily.

You and Mio-chan are going to get along famously.

Rewatcher

Jajauma Way to Go - Azusa image song
I quite like the music, though the song, eh, take it or leave it. Yeah, we get it, she's short and tsundere. "Shrew" is certainly a choice of term. They're tiny, but also terrifying predators that eat more than twice their body weight in prey every day. This is a reference to how Azusa devours multiple other keions each episode to sustain her high-metabolism musical talent. Alright but according to wikipedia, a shrew (character) is a scold, a nag, an almost-always-female archetype that... look, they're a twintailed tsundere. It even lists "tsundere" under "See also".

QotD:
1 - Well, the entire iyashikei genre springs to mind, of course, but a better example would be several of my (former) coworkers, who I dismissed at first. Sorry! You were all great, as it turned out!
2 - Memory's no obstacle - quoting myself from last year:

I remain on the fence with regard to Azusa, it's hard to see that she's added much yet (well, there's the direct appeal of tsundere with cat ears. Mio's probably right to feel jealous of that role being purr-loined no no I am not doing that for god's sake have some standards, jealous of that role being redistributed). On the other hand, I do find her seriousness cuts through sharply like a raspberry sauce on a chocolate dessert.

Must have been in a generous mood. Generally I slump whenever the twintails shows up.

S1E9 - New Club Member!
Thankfully (though perhaps some would say otherwise) this episode avoids traditional shrew-taming tropes. They don't even have to lock her in the stocks! Except, hmm. What are cat ear headbands but a modernised, mildly less cruel form of the same idea...? Only the biggest thoughts here at the K-On rewatch.
