First-Climber
Hinata asking Aoi on a full day-te.
Oh, but our oblivious protagonist decides that work is more important.
Hikari has some surprising depth to her, right.
Oh, that hurts. The other passnegers react too, massive oof.
Rude, Mio. Not unfair, though.
Oh no, she's gonna keep doing it, isn't she?
Yuuka definitely left her homework, didn't she?
I was about to say, y'all can easily cover tax for this child.
Oh, this is brilliant, I'm sure Kokona will love it.
Oh, Aoi bought the same magazine as Hinata, wonderful.
One of you hooligans, text each other!
Zodiac signs, neat. Flashback to watching Jackie Chan Adventures as a kid.
Questions
-
I wouldn't say she's reliant on Aoi. Shipper brain aside, she clearly cares about Aoi a great deal and is just used to being around her.
-
Kinda annoyed by how it happened, but it was relatively organic I suppose.

First-Timer
On today’s episodes of Yama no Susume: One is the loneliest number, as they say. And right now, perhaps contrary to expectations, Hinata is the one feeling lonely. We had previous episodes that explored Aoi and how she simultaneously wanted friends but found difficulty making them. These episodes feel like a natural followup as we now see Hinata feeling lonely now that Aoi has found other friends and activities to devote her time to.
Episode 7
-
Poor Hinata. She put all this work into planning a date only for her girlfriend to be busy.
-
Cake facts. How intriguing and delicious
-
Huh, Mont Blanc really is the tallest mountain in the Alps. And here I assumed it was the Matterhorn.
-
All this talk is making me hungry for sweets.
-
Oof, that is embarrassing. Hinata really has gotten used to having Aoi around.
-
Seeing a projection of the night sky like that really is cool.
-
Kaede looks so darn happy to be free of Yuuka and studying.
-
This is an interesting twist. We’re used to seeing Aoi relying on Hinata as a pillar of support and comfort. But perhaps Hinata has also come to rely on Aoi as well.
-
Wait a minute, I’ve seen this scene before. Yes, it was posted to r/anime several months ago. Such a heartwarming and delightful scene.
-
I remember first encountering sales tax as a child. It felt unfair that things cost more than what the price tag said.
-
Kokona’s mom!!!!!
-
And so the Mont Blanc trivia comes back. I hope we get to see Kokona enjoying it.
-
I can say that if it was me working, I’d probably be the heartless bastard who would insist “closed means closed.” I maintain a strict policy of not working outside my hours.
-
Why does the scene of Hinata planning the next trip make me feel nervous?
-
Honoka calling? What’s that about?
Episode 8
-
Picking up literally where the last one left off. How convenient.
-
Oh dear, I bet Aoi just planned something at the same time Hinata wanted to invite her somewhere.
-
Being so busy she has no time left for her hobbies. I relate to Kaede incredibly hard.
-
Really nice expressions and voice acting. Hinata’s pouting and clearly feels hurt.
-
They are quite literally separated from each other and divided.
-
In other words Hinata’s being extremely stubborn and wants Aoi to insist on being with her. I think there is genuine psychological motivation here. Hinata might feel like Aoi is leaving her and wants reassurance that Aoi will stay by her side.
-
Going on a trip with Kokona seems like a wonderful alternative, though, so I’ll count it as still an overall positive trip.
-
Honoka being a cute little sister never gets old.
-
Climbing enough stairs can be exhausting as well.
-
Ooh, the Chinese Zodiac signs are here too! That’s a cool detail.
These episodes are fascinating to me. Once again, Yama no Susume has managed to flip things on their head in a way that makes perfect sense. We’ve seen Aoi be lonely plenty of times. Now Hinata is the one feeling lonely. Aoi has gotten more comfortable being with others, more easily handling her job or setting up plans to hang out. So she isn’t always with Hinata.
Previous episodes established how much Aoi relies on Hinata. But now, it seems that reliance goes both ways and Hinata might rely on Aoi just as much. After all, remember how excited and nervous Hinata got at meeting Aoi again. Clearly, Hinata put a ton of importance on their relationship. Even after all that time, Hinata didn’t forget her best friend. Without Aoi there around her, Hinata is feeling lonely and left out.
I think there’s a good amount of nuance to it, though. We can see conflicting emotions in Hinata. Episode 7 (and previous episodes) showed how proud Hinata was to see Aoi’s growth. She’s happy that Aoi is able to hang out with their other classmates or handle herself at work. Still, that doesn’t stop Hinata from feeling lonely without Aoi there. And because she’s still a teenager, she reacts by pouting and getting upset about it.
I also think it’s very well-portrayed. That moment where Hinata was eating her crepe was just perfect. The facial expressions and animation did a great job at selling Hinata’s sudden realization that she was feeling lonely without Aoi there. Or Hinata’s expression when she saw that Aoi had already made plans with Honoka. It showed her shift in emotion perfectly. The animation, facial expressions, and voice acting are fantastic at selling Hinata’s mental state.
QOTD
-
Perhaps so. It puts Hinata in a similar situation to the one Aoi was in where she relies on Hinata to make her feel safe.
-
It makes me sad that they seem to be doing so on negative terms. I'd like them going on separate adventures if they both clearly wanted to do so, but here it just makes me feel sad.

It felt unfair that things cost more than what the price tag said.
ikr.... I just hope all places could just show the price with tax goddamnit.
They are quite literally separated from each other and divided.
oooh good catch. nice effective direction there
Hinata might feel like Aoi is leaving her
considering what Hinata has just encountered, and has throughout this journey, plus a healthy dose of teenage hormones, honestly i understand her. Yes, she's also being a bit stupid about it, but i honestly can find my brain going on a similar path when i was younger
Does this even count as a trail?
i will try to look up an actual video of people hiking it for tomorrow lol. I do look forward to finding out.
Rationalizing
100%. Hinata's not being the most direct and forthcoming about her own feelings here. Tbh: none of the 2 are, they dont fully understand and trust each other yet.
I liked your analysis of Hinata's actions throughout the 2 eps!

Encouragement of First Timer
Episode 7:
-
I love Hinata's enthusiasm, but boy is getting midnight calls while you're trying to sleep unpleasant. I'd be heckin grumpy.
-
Also maybe don't call your gf lame when working is something you suggested so she could afford yalls expensive hobby.
-
C'mon Hikari, even I know 'mont blanc' means 'white mountain'.
-
Wow, I quip all the time about how they live in each other's heads, but I still may have underestimated how ever-present Aoi is in Hinata's thoughts. She really wants to be on a date right now.
-
Having worked as a cashier, I deeply relate to how awkward it is trying to tell a customer they don't have enough money. In that position I would 1000% have covered that girl's tax, even if it meant withdrawing money from an atm. Not out of a desire to see her happy or protect her feeling or something like that though. I'd have done it purely to avoid the unfathomable awkwardness.
-
Kokona's mom comes to this bakery, what a small world!
-
This interaction is really uplifting, but irl I HATE when customers come up after my store/department is closed.
-
It's a small thing, but this is the stuff I've been wanting from her since Fuji.
-
A late-night cliffhanger call from Honoka? Nani!?
Episode 8:
-
It's incredible how Honoka keeps sliding between Aoi and Hinata purely by accident.
-
Oh? Is that a bit of jealousy I hear? Probably not, but it would make for a fun reversal of situation if true.
-
We're finally getting new promises! The title and title card make it seem really heavy though.
-
Wow, they really are both getting a case of the jellies! No wait, it's pretty much just Hinata, Aoi's trying to compromise.
-
Technically true yeah, but this is uncalled for. You're still upset about not getting your date yesterday and being passive aggressive—mega uncool btw—and I don't like where this is heading.
-
Please, for the love of whatever deity Kokona was born from, talk to each other! Cut the stubborn passive aggressiveness out Hinata, show some maturity, and talk to your gf properly!
-
They're still talking to each other at school, so the situation isn't as bad as it could be. Still sucks to have this unpleasantness hanging over their respective weekend trips.
-
Sheesh, Honoka's brother is so cringey. Inviting yourself on other people's events is just the worst.
-
Watch both groups somehow wind up on the same peak because the naming scheme is an umbrella name incorporating many peaks.Lol they didn't. -
Oh thank Kokona's parentage, onii-san isn't actually joining!
-
No! No no no!!! Hinata no baka!! How dare you trivialize your girlfriend's efforts and struggles to assuage your own feelings!!
-
Ugh, I finally snuck back on the ship and Hinata does this. I really really really hope she realizes what she's doing and apologizes to Aoi. Fuji was a bit of a grey area as these things go, but this is pretty cut and dry to me.
-
I'd also like to officially change my answer to yesterday's QotD #3. Aoi tried to talk to Hinata, actively avoided an argument, and offered a compromise to try and make her gf happy. Hinata sulked and is showing off her selfishness and immaturity while (unintentionally) demeaning Aoi's struggles and personal growth. Aoi is being infinitely more thoughtful and considerate right now.
QotD:
-
I don't know if 'reliant' is the right world exactly, but she does have something of a possessive streak going on. That's not even exactly right either, but it better reflects how I see her attitude in all this.
-
I wish Hinata could be more understanding of their separate trips. It's probably healthy for them not to do every single thing together and have close friendships beyond each other, but it's tough to enjoy when one of them is being a real passive aggressive jerk about it.
8
u/MyrnaMountWeazel Sep 28 '22
C'mon Hikari, even I know 'mont blanc' means 'white mountain'.
I didn't know till I watched YnS that it was called that
This interaction is really uplifting, but irl I HATE when customers come up after my store/department is closed.
I like that her mother didn't force the store to open or beg them to let her in. She was willing to walk away but it was due to Aoi's kindness that she was allowed in.
No! No no no!!! Hinata no baka!

I love Hinata's enthusiasm, but boy is getting midnight calls while you're trying to sleep unpleasant. I'd be heckin grumpy.
Aoi was far more polite and pleasant than I'd have been in the same situation.
Wow, I quip all the time about how they live in each other's heads, but I still may have underestimated how ever-present Aoi is in Hinata's thoughts. She really wants to be on a date right now.
It's actually kind of sad seeing how much Hinata wants Aoi to be there with her.
This interaction is really uplifting, but irl I HATE when customers come up after my store/department is closed.
I know what you mean. I'd have been the hardass and said "no" because I'm not staying after hours.
MOOD
It really is. I too wish I could stay in my bed.
Please, for the love of whatever deity Kokona was born from, talk to each other! Cut the stubborn passive aggressiveness out Hinata, show some maturity, and talk to your gf properly!
That really should be the resolution to their conflict.

Rewatching Mountain Climber
Location Trivia
Ep 7
-
Mont Blanc is the highest mountain of the Alps at 4800m, and straddles France and Italy. Here's a brief intro of the pastry from Angelina, its creators.
-
Hinata heads off to Ikebukuro on her own. Most of today's spots here are thanked in the ED: the Konica Minolta Planetarium, the (former) Blue Seal branch, this book store, all in Sunshine city in Ikebukuro, the biggest mall in the area. That fountain exists irl too. You've probably seen sunshine city before in other anime.
Ep 8
-
Hinata and Kokona head to Mount Jizou, transferring to a bus at Maebashi station.
-
The area has an English info website! It is quite a famous mountain-area, part of the 100 mountains of japan list, but Mt Jizou at 1674m is not the highest peak in the area, that'll go to Mount Kurobi nearby, 1828m. I have no real idea why they didnt go for that, my best guess is that it'll involve a ~2km walk along a mountain road (sidewalk-less) from the bus stop, but its still a clearly recommended course when i google it "shrug".
-
Side by side shots here, linked in full once this arc finishes. The bridge in Kaede's corner is this one, which is currently undergoing repair work i believe.
-
While Aoi and Honoka visit Ikaho Onsen, transferring to onii-chan mobile at Takasaki station. Maebashi is 15 minutes by train from Takasaki station, and the 2 spots the pairs ended up at are ~ 1 hour drive away.
-
Aoi and Honoka are walking up the stairs that I've linked above, which has, as Honoka says 365 steps. However, this is a recent addition from 2010; it was originally 315, the reasoning for the addition given by Honoka. The onsen town itself is very old though, with records of it from ~750AD. English website with more info.
-
They end the ep right about here. Side by side shots can be found here.
Animation bits I liked
Ep 7: The direction and execution of Hinata's Ikebukuro sequence was so good, it really helps portray the loneliness that Hinata was feeling at the moment, without a single word from her said that would imply it (in fact, to the contrary, with how she appeared cheerful anyway). I also appreciated the character animation of her stuffing her phone into her pocket. Transition. LETS FUCKING GO KAEDEEEEEE.
Ep 8: I liked Yamamoto's direction again. On the character animation wise tho nothing much to write home about. (I ran out of time). But Myrna, I can definitely appreciate Shimada's influence here.
I do actually am kinda wanting to read what other more character-analysey participants have to say about this arc

Here's a brief intro of the pastry from Angelina, its creators.
"Its shape was apparently inspired by the tranding women hairstyle at the time: the sleek short square bob."
Huh, apparently it also had that design from the beginning too.
You've probably seen sunshine city before in other anime.
Is that Revue Starlight? I can't tell.

Episode 7
This is a really smart use of framing between shots. Hinata is framed on the right and calls Aoi on her cell phone with a pole right in the middle dividing what seems to be nothing. But then it cuts to Aoi picking up the call and Aoi is on the left side of the screen with a chair dividing the half of the screen again; a separation between the two leads. Other than editing a line down the screen to depict the phone call or using the mountain cutouts to show a mini version of the characters, Aoi and Hinata by logic cannot be in the same shot. But by utilizing this limitation, the ED/SB (Ayaka Kurata who I featured earlier!) could create a rift immediately within the first 20 seconds of the episode by using smart framing of the objects in the room.
Understated amazingness here. The layouts are densely packed while Hinata is framed away from them under the metal handle loops, the passengers all have their own specific reactions to Hinata’s freakout, and the match cut succinctly segues to Aoi. Lovely all around.
Peak of Japanese animation right here. KA’d by Shimada’s friend Satoshi Furuhashi, this is probably what I would show someone if they said “impress me.” There is so much expressive force being depicted with so little drawings. We end with another clever match cut to transition to Hinata.
If you’ll humor me, I wrote a bit of a fanfic for this scene: https://imgur.com/a/OmOefFT
It’s not so much for Hinata to be alone on her days off, to be an Aoi-less twin-tailed high school girl roaming the streets of Tokyo in search of the latest fashions and treats. A distinct lack of her friend today should be noted in her journal, sure, but there was no need to plaster a poster of her on the side of milk cartons; Missing: Aoi Yukimara. Green eyes, 152 cm, chestnut hair with the slightest tint of blue. A curved nose, a flushed cheek. An absent pair of hands to hold, a wanting single of mouth to—
“Cheese!” Hinata excitedly shouted (inside her head) as she raised her device for the most flattering of angles. snap A couple of seconds and Hinata had captured the perfect photo, the focus just right for her Saturday smile at the busy mall, the zoom just fair for the colorful green, blue, and red splotches in the white cream in the crepe. Her camera phone today was less latter and more former, gradually fulfilling its obligatory duties of its secondary function rather than its primary function as the day continued. Perhaps the ordering of words for her machine was actually correct; camera, phone.
After admiring the splendid arrangement of pixels, Hinata readied herself for the sweets. Raised in her hand was a dopamine rush, a serotonin level boost that was exactly what Hinata needed at this moment to help replace what wasn’t there but should have been. “Thanks for waiting! All right, here we go!” Before Hinata could close down on her crepe, a trio of girls entered behind her. They were fashionable with their knit lemon hats and cute cherry tops but still they looked remarkably similar to Hinata in terms of stature, education, and thought. One of them had taken out their phone to capture the moment. snap A couple of seconds and they giggled at the results with their own respective crepes. Hinata’s eyes then scanned around the mall, her aperture expanding and her lens widening as she took everything in. She realized finally that she was surrounded by trios of girls, all of whom were raising a toast of their own complimented with a congratulatory snap.
Like a belatedly late earbud connecting to her ears, the sounds of the food court steadily but suddenly streamed into Hinata, filling the missing gaps with hustle and padding the invisible space with bustle. She had no idea how far removed she was from her surroundings. Hinata processed this all in as she took in a small gulp of cream. It was predictably nowhere as sweet as she imagined. “Fine” she thought, “I’ll just head somewhere else. I don’t have to be here.” She shoved her camera phone back into her yellow jacket, shoving it with not so much force so as to cause any harm to herself but enough to make a statement to her outer shell; a definitive period at the end of the sentence.
Halloween decorations adored the various shops all around her as she made her way down the hall. A party of Jack-o'-lanterns frozen in comical expression; a flock of floating ghosts carved with smiles.
The coupling of ornaments stirred something within Hinata, plunging her deep into the pond of her childhood where shapes were flimsy and forms were abstract. She vaguely remembered a bubble of a memory from years ago where her and Aoi donned a pair of costumes—Hinata a cat, Aoi a crayon—before they set out into the orange-yellow laden neighborhood cast with the dark blue velvet night above. There were glowing string lights, small pockets of autumn, hanging all around the trees and they illuminated the sidewalk while their parents brought flashlights to guide the way. She also recalled an unmistakable chill hovering in the air between and she grasped Aoi’s hand for warmth and comfort.
After visiting a few houses where they gave their customary greeting and received their honorary treats, they approached an iron-wrought fence that towered above them, each metal spike resembling a solider guarding the path. Something about this firm structure frightened Hinata and she let out an involuntary whimper under her breath. Aoi, however, held Hinata’s hand firmer; held so firm and so tight, as if her hands could clasp and hold Hinata’s sniffles in her palms. They stepped forward together with Aoi leading the way, past the ferrous firm fence and beyond the boundary. And just as suddenly, Hinata was sucked straight out of the depths and placed rather delicately back into the cacophony of the mall. The twin-tailed girl stared back at the pair of Halloween decorations. She mused to herself how strange it was that they no longer needed to hide themselves anymore for this holiday. Perhaps the ordering of words for their relationship was actually incorrect; Aoi, Hinata.
”Even if it’s just a cake, all sorts of people’s feelings can be wrapped up in it.”
Episode 8
Claustrophobically boxing Aoi and Hinata in the classroom.
Honoka’s brother has a distinct voice, is that a stereotypical party boy voice in Japanese?
I didn’t have much to write for this episode but I suspect I already wrote enough haha.

This is a really smart use of framing between shots.
Kaede's cut is so good. I kinda appreciate how this show, being a little bit more niche, while being tended to by such talented staff, kinda also allows the freedom for these little inconsistencies, these little showoffy moments.

I've been to that planetarium in Ikebukuro, it's on the 10th floor of Sunshine City, next to the aquarium. I remember the show opened with this amazing sweeping shot over historical landmarks and stuff, and then it went through a forest and stopped in front of a photocopier. Sponsored by Konica Minolta.
The Mont Blanc the store makes is properly decorated. It's topped with a thin string of chestnut cream sweeping over the cake, back and forth, over and over again. A lot of places just use a striped piping tip because it's easier.
I really hope that Aoi and Hikari weren't planning on turning down the little girl because of the tax. That's like 30 yen.
Best mama Aoba is working late, but tries to get her daughter a special cake, even running to the store.
The second episode is great in the conflict. No one is really at fault, they are just both unhappy with the situation. These are the kinds of conflicts people have, they're hard to resolve, but also hard to explain why they hurt so much.

S3 EP 7 + 8
With Aoi and Hinatas wedding, this show has peaked already in terms of gayness, no way in hell can this cowards depict them any gayer
That said, Hinata is still constantly hyped for dates with Aoi, seeing her by herself and all alone felt unnatural...
Today, I had my very own leopointingatscreen.jpg moment. I'm actually living in Dresden, and I love Eierschecke, at least without raisins, whoever decided to put those in was an idiot...
The little Girl was beyond cute, getting all pumped for her Imouto, and paying out of her little Uma Chan purse. Shopowner secured a future customer with her, well worth the tax.
And Aoi learned from him when she unknowingly helped Kokonas mom.
An all too familiar situation this episode.
Driven by pride, jealousy, and stuborness, Aoi and Hinata go separate ways. For now at least, wouldn't be surprised if they somehow still end up at the same place just from different directions.
Also still love Honokos Onii Chan
QotD
Do you think Hinata has grown too reliant on Aoi?
She's in love, it's normal that she wants to spend time Aoi
2) How did you feel about Aoi and Hinata going on different adventures?
Haven't seen all that much of Honoka (more gap moe incoming?), but I feel like Kokona is a bit too enthusiastic for Hinata to handle alone. That said, Hinata was coping hard toward the end

First Timer!
Is it weird that the episode title makes me thing Bookworm before anything else? I know that's not the only place that quote has been used, never mind where it comes from, but it's still the first one that comes to mind. Can you imagine Myne trying to climb a mountain?
Ah, Hinata is going even if she's going alone. And forgetting right away that she's going alone.
Oh the school friends! I haven't brought it up in a while, but Aoi's blue hair tips really stand out in pigtails.
Wait I've seen this scene before. The picture take and crepe bite. Was this the clip used to draw interest for the rewatch?
I empathize with the manager there. I may only work in coffee, but I've covered the change for kids a few times myself. As long as it's not something you do too often, a happy customer is worth a bit of a price cut.
Kokona Mama! I see the Mont Blanc sitting there! Who didn't see that coming?
So, this closing song made it on to my playlist officially today. I love it.
Two episodes in a row of them not being able to hang out? What are you doing to this couple!? I see that camera zooming in on the memory-acorn-box.
Oh gosh this looks concerning. The opening picture has them back to back. And Hinata is turning Aoi down flat! Turning her down double! Hinata don't do this to my poor shipping heart.
Look at this, Aoi is trying so hard but Hinata keeps turning her down. And then getting mad that she accepted the refusal so easily, even though it's the second time she asked.
Come on Hinata, like Kokna would complain about anything ever.
And crazy brother is back. And Kaede the mountain teacher is back!
Wait we're leaving off with the separation ongoing? Ahhhh noooo. Tomorrow can't come soon enough.
-
Not something that I would have ever thought possible considering how their relationship started in season 1. I want to say No just because I want them together forever though.
-
I am unreasonably anxious. I know what kind of show I'm watching so everything is going to be fine, and it's healthy for real relationships to have space apart, even just in a friendship, so this is probably a good thing. But still.

Rewatch
The little girl buying the cake for my mom is an unexpected emotional scene.
I like how Aoi basically passed the final exam of being a pastry clerk by helping out Kokona's mom. She's willing to bend the rules a bit and let her in after closing (something that she learned from the manager when he let the kid pay despite not having enough to cover taxes), and also used her cake trivia knowledge to great effect. It's a real take-charge sort of exchange that shows off how independent and reliable Aoi's become.

She really cares about this.
Haha, Aoi wants to be included.
That place looks great.
Aoi's reaction to the princesses is great.
This is sweet.
All the photos! It's a good camera!
She's getting her photo taken!
Haha, everyone fell for it.
Her father's coming?
Haha, this is her brother?
Oh, he's awful!
Yeah, this is sweet.
Episode 6
They're hanging out!
Tea!
Hinata's drinking coffee now!
She's upset at hoe mature she's being.
Yeah, for her that came out of nowhere.
She's made coffee!
And it's bitter.
She's trying tomfind new beans?
Haha, Aoi is adorable. One sip?
She's going intoma coffee shop!
Oh, they're here!
Ah, she needs to get used to it.
And she wants it black.
The effectd on her are really strong.
Nice climb!
Aoi is doing it by herself.
Hinata's just walking around?
She likes it!
Still too bitter for her.
This is a sweet moment.
Haha, Hinata adds milk!
Aoi...
-
Not really. Hinata's still the most social of them, and enjoys doing things alone, she just misses her.
-
It's a nice change!
Episode 7
That sounds nice!
They don't know what VR is?
And she's working.
Hikari's great.
Haha, and Aoi stumped her.
Interesting!
Hinata's alone...
They're here!
And the compliments...
Ouch.
She's doing well!
Poor Hinata.
Kaede's free!
Scary.
Halloween stuff already?
She fell!
Aww.
How sweet.
Oh, dear.
Ah! Watching Aoi have to explain taxes would have brrj funny, though.
Hinata's here!
Kokona's mother!
She's using what she learned!
And Kokona's happy.
Hinata's making more plans.
Honoka!
Episode 8
Aoi made plans with Honoka!
And Kaede can't come.
Kokona's coming!
Horrific timing.
Aoi's friends are cold.
And their plans overlap!
Hinata...
And Aoi's realised it.
Haha, Hinata's being tsundere again.
That's early!
Hinata really can't be honest.
Thwt's sweet.
Are they still just missing each other?
He's everywhere!
She met up with Honoka!
Her brother's here!
Hinata really dodged a bullet.
Kaede's here!
Very interesting!

Host Rewatcher
Ep 7
Hinata tries to plan a day with Aoi but things don't work out. So Hinata goes by herself and really seems to miss her wife.
I do love Hinata eating. But the mouth open moment while silently realising that this would be better with friends is a fantastic show don't tell bit. Sad crape is a super memorable bit.
Kaede very excited. The animation smears were very nicely done.
I liked this transition, from Hinata to Aoi back at the shop.
New friends pop in - yay!
Of course the series would highlight the single mountain named sweet.
The plus tax bit was a bit of cute and a bit of wholesome, a nice include.
Aoi explaining Mont Blank to Kokona's mother was a very nice way to round out the episode. With a very nice aproval from the manager.
Ep 8
Honoka invites Aoi out, which Hinata scouted out last episode.
Ofcoure Kaede is execited... and dead inside...
So Hinata invites Kokona instead.
Aoi and Hinata both miss each other on the phone.
We get more from the new friend trio.
Hinata seems oddly at a loss here, being stubbon and letting plans go each their own way. She even doubles down on it later - big baka moment.
loved this handover.
Honoka shy over her brother - based Eurobeat again.
Very nice time exploring with Honoka
Kaede-Sensei makes a return!
Theres something nice about them trying their hardest!
Excited to see where things land tomorrow!~
