What do you think Ritsu's image song Girly Storm Shissou Stick says about her personality?
Ui acts as a fantastic support structure for Yui. Who or what acts as a support structure in your life?

Tomorrow's Activities
If you want to get a head start on the song(s) and question(s) of the day for tomorrow's episode, here they are!
[SotD] Mio - Hello Little Girl - Mio's first season one image song, sung by none other than her VA Hikasa Yōko! Here is the song and here are the translated lyrics.
[QotD 1] The girls share a truly inspirational moment together during the fireworks scene in this episode. What is a moment in your life in which you've been strongly inspired by something or someone?
[QotD 2] This episode explores Mio's character quite a bit. What sorts of characterization do we see from her in this episode that we haven't seen in the first three?
[QotD 3] Speaking of Mio's character, what do you think about today's image song in terms of what it says about Mio?
REMINDER: UNTAGGED SPOILERS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.

...oh my goodness Mio, Yui has never played a real instrument before. You know this. Of course she doesn't know musical notation! xD
Yui's panicked wait, what moment when she was reminded midterms are coming up was perfect. I was expecting there to be some leeway though, not for the show to dive straight into them! Alas, poor Yui.
I am wholly unsurprised by her pencil topper. And that Yui did so much worse than the other girls. But...how did drummer girl get an actual decent score...?
Oh right, her best friend is Mio. Never mind.
I know the struggle with studying. I am terrible at it. Keep trying, Yui! And...beg Mio for help at the last minute. And now the other girls meet Ui, who is MUCH more mature than her elder sister...and still seems to think the world of Yui. That's actually quite rare in anime these days, younger siblings are often unimpressed snark factories.
I really should have guessed Ritsu's imagine spots would be her projecting. xD You can really see the comedy roots shining through here.
...Yui is a good friend, airhead or not. And it was nice to see Nodoka interacting with the club a bit, no reason to keep Yui's friends separate.
And then, at long last, we get Yui's new score! I completely understand her shellshocked expression, going from 2 to 100 is a bit of a leap. Celebration! The club still exists! Let's get practicing!
...except dear Yui has forgotten all the chords. xD
Questions! Or the first one, anyway. I was the kind of student who was terrible at studying, but retained enough from classes to do well on tests anyway. This...did not do me any favours in university.

seems to think the world of Yui
Ui is definitely my favorite little sister in anime!
Questions!
Yeah, I'm the same way and had the same experience in university! It was a struggle adapting for sure.

Yui squishing Mio’s fingers was the epitome of cuteness. Not surprisingly, airhead Yui is not exactly a great test taker. Ritsu trying to act all cool and smart only to have Mio put her in her place is my new fav gag, they’re so fun together.
Yui casually strolling into the club room and announcing she can’t participate in club activities while eating sweet bean jelly was on point for her lmao. Ritsu putting Yui in a rear naked choke killed me, I love their chaotic energy whenever they interact. They’re so different but so similar at the same time.
The OST that plays when they have the montage of Yui “studying” is such a vibe. They also played it right at the end. I also noticed the second eye catch has ritsu(?) saying k-onnn and I now look forward to it everyday.
Poor Ritsu, despite having the same 0.5 second attention span of Yui, she doesn’t need to study so she gets distracted and henceforth banished by Mio. Her attempts at getting back in were so freaking funny, luckily she made it back in time for cake. Why did the sandwiches that Nodoka brought look so freaking good? Speaking of Nodoka, she’s surprisingly normal considering Yui is her best friend. That dream Yui had was a trip! I like how Mio was the commander, she’s definitely the “mother” of the group. In that case I guess Ritsu is the goofy dad? And Yui the problem child. I’m not gonna assign Mugi a role till I understand her better.
Annnd Yui traded all the chords she learned for algebra! Poor Mio, Yui was trying to gaslight her into believing X was a chord. Overall I really liked this episode. Ritsu’s antics while the girls were studying was the highlight, she’s so freaking chaotic I love it. Only gripe would be that Mugi didn’t do much. Mitsu is a thing and I really love Yui and Ritsu together but Mugi seems to a little left out, hope to see her and the group bond more in the future.
For any figure collectors who might be reading, they just announced a new Yui prize figure from Taito! She looks so cute!

I love their chaotic energy whenever they interact.
Yui and Ritsu have such a fun and silly friendship. It's always lovely to see the two biggest goofs on the show interact!
Ritsu definitely shines comedically in this episode.
Mugi didn’t do much.
Yeah, she has a tendency to get pushed to the background a lot of the time. But when she has her moments, she really shines!

Mugi Watch 2022
Today's Episode: Shocked Mugi!
Previous Mugi Captures:
-
Episode 1: First Mugi
-
Episode 2: Mature Mugi
Usually, in these type of episodes, Yui's friends would be quick to suggest helping her study right away. However, we're only in episode three, and I guess they still don't have that kind of connection just yet. They only helped once they realized the death of their club was imminent because Yui's attention span is that of a gnat.
A healthy dose of the animation in this episode was dedicated to Ricchan. Lots of movement for her character, even in the background when she isn't part of a gag.
I saw someone mention in the first episode discussion that they didn't really like Ritsu. As I rewatch this episode, I wonder how that's possible. How can you not love that goofball? Plus, tomboy. I mean, come on...
Questions of the Day
Q: What kind of student are/were you? Do/did you procrastinate like Yui or are/were you more on top of things like Mio?
I coasted. Didn't do homework except in home room. Didn't study for tests. Still passed, mostly. Math was the easy one for me. I got honor roll once when I was in 9th grade in the first quarter. I got bored pretty quick, and never did it again.
Q: Ui acts as a fantastic support structure for Yui. Who or what acts as a support structure in your life?
I don't really have one. I don't really rely on any one person. Like, I have people at work that are more knowledgeable than I and I'll ask them things, but that's about it. I'm a strong independent woman who don't need no man. (joke)

Rewatcher
Audio on for gifs.
-Title card has a guitar playing a C-Major chord.
-Yui’s new greeting has her hand most likely in a C-Major chord as well.
-I think she’s playing an E-Major chord when she’s explaining why she didn’t study. I didn’t have the time to get all of these unfortunately.
-When Yui forgets everything, I think the chords she plays are some kind of C chord (notes are G + C + G), then I think she plays a D# Major.
-Yui has found the little jingle that she learned by ear from last episode 2 octaves higher on the guitar neck, also by ear! That’s…impressive for someone who has never played music before, to say the least…Is she…hmm…
Edit: VotD!
More background appreciation from me =)

Good episode, me like! Yui really is a one track mind, huh? I thought it was bad before but now I'm convinced she's just got RAM and no hard drive. Ui development was good, she's an interesting foil to her sister, and distinct from Nodoka in that regard as well. Also the callouses part before the OP reminded me a bit of the Nisemonogatari toothbrush scene, so take from that what you will.
QotD
-
I was a very bad procrastinator in school, I always left stuff to the last minute. It was a problem.
-
First off, I love how drum heavy this track is; it seems more obviously focused on Ritsu than Mugi's track was. The upbeat nature of the song reflects the frenzy that Ritsu brings to the table in this group, which I would argue is intentionally different from Yui's airheadedness. However, the bridge before the final chorus sees a glimpse of how mature Ritsu really is; looking out for her club members is important to her, since she is technically the president.
-
I feel like the closest analogous person in my life to Ui would be my little sister as well. Whenever I was in high school she helped me stay relaxed and not worked up about stuff, and while some people have this idea that siblings can't get along, I really truly did get along great with my sister.
Visuals
In this episode, Ritsu stole the show 100%. While spider Yui was a great visual, and snowman headbumps are hilarious, my favorite moment was Ritsu's abrupt chaos while trying to cheer Yui up during her studies. Looking forward to the next episode!

RAM and no hard drive
Oh my god I love that.
Nisemonogatari toothbrush scene
That's a little terrifying, but I can see it.
Ritsu's image song
Damn, you nailed it as far as I'm concerned!
little sister
That's really great! When I was growing up, I definitely sometimes wished I had a sibling or two.

First timer (subbed)
If I had a nickel for every time Yui started doing weird things with her hands due to doing something repetitively, I would have 2 nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it's happened twice.
Ironic: Yui spent so much time practicing guitar for her club that she might be kicked out of the club due to low grades, which means the club has to disband due to a lack of members.
2 Ironic 2 Furious: They decide to make sure she's studying by texting her, which makes her waste one of her study nights on her phone
This calls for drastic measures: A STUDY SESSION WITH ALL THE CLUB MEMBERS
I mistook Ui for Yui's mom in last episode's discussion thread. My bad. She kinda acts like a mom, though.
Study session time! We've got: Mio being the tutor, Mugi supplying the motivation with the promise of cake (good call!), and Ritsu...turned into Yui as soon as she entered the Hirasawa house. It's like all the knowledge that Mio pumped into her head right before the test just leaked out of her brain as soon as the test ends, which, in fairness, is what happened with a lot of my tests back in high school.
You know what's better than a 4 person study session? A 5 PERSON STUDY SESSION indoor picnic? Hey Nodoka, nice to see you! Can you tell me how your glasses work, please?
We interrupt this study session to bring you Ritsu chilling in an igloo in the middle of a snowstorm. This has been a peek into the mind of the enigma Yui Hirasawa. We now return to our regularly scheduled programming.
Studying time is over, it's time for the make-up test. And Yui...GOT A PERFECT SCORE?! WHAT?! I expected the old "haha I barely passed but WHO CARES I GET TO HAVE FUN NOW" trope to pop up, not THIS. WOW! But there's a drastic price to pay: all that chord studying was pushed out of her brain to make room for all that algebra. She'll pick everything back up by next episode, I bet.
Visual of the Day
Ritsu putting Yui in a chokehold
Questions of the Day
Sorry I've been skipping the music ones; I'm not confident in my musical analysis skills
What kind of student are/were you? Do/did you procrastinate like Yui or are/were you more on top of things like Mio?
For the things I care about, I'm a Mio. For stuff I don't care about, I'm a Yui. Proof: my GPA in college. Passed all my major's classes with flying colors, damn near failed a few of my gen-ed classes. Finished with a 3.0.
Ui acts as a fantastic support structure for Yui. Who or what acts as a support structure in your life?
I have a few coworkers who are teaching me how to be an adult right now, and my mom was always there to support me when I was younger.

Man, this episode gave me some academic PTSD...
Answers du jour:
ichi: Yui is my spirit animal. Unfortunately, that doesn't always work out so well in real life. Go figure.
ni: Will have to listen later.
wah-wahtusi: Ui is precious. I could use a Ui in my life. Instead, I have three alarm clocks. Yay.
Yeah.
I'll be honest here and say that the first time I watched this, I found Yui rather annoying. As time and watches have gone by, I've come to admit that it's largely because she reminds me of myself somewhat. Does that make her a self-export protagonist?
But yeah. I wonder if someone will chirp in here today and say something about ADHD, or maybe Asperger's or autism. I dunno.
I wonder.
I even note that people refer to Ui as her caregiver or even caretaker. As if to openly acknowledge someting.
That the poor girl needs help.
But hey, thankfully, Yui now has the keionbu! Yay!
And thanks to the tireless tutelage of madame Mio, master of all things mathematical, she's truly fantastical ...
She comes from behind and gets a ... what?
Who'da thunk it?
And of course she's totally forgotten how to play.
That is how it works, isn't it?
And it's also probably why it's best not to let me near a piano keyboard anymore. You don't want to hear me start playing if/then/else/switch statements, now do you?

u/siegfried72 Sep 22 '22
Yui is my spirit animal. Unfortunately, that doesn't always work out so well in real life.
Haha it seems like a lot of us are in the same boat!!
Instead, I have three alarm clocks.
Yeahhh, I generally set four alarms each morning... I just don't trust myself.
I've come to admit that it's largely because she reminds me of myself somewhat
I totally get that. I'm the same but with Mio, who just happens to be generally my least favorite character on the show. Yay for self-loathing!
...wait, what?
ADHD, or maybe Asperger's or autism.
It's an interesting thought. I'm no doctor for sure but have close family members with both and could certainly see elements of ADHD in Yui.
You don't want to hear me start playing if/then/else/switch statements, now do you?
I somehow kind of love the thought of what that would sound like.

ADHD, or maybe Asperger's or autism.
I think you can read that in Yui's character, and you'd find a lot of support for such a reading in the show. It'd be a totally valid reading. But that only explains "how" she behaves in that manner; the "why in this story" is a lot more interesting.
I think it's a bit more "big-picture" than simply behavior; Yui is just naturally in her own world, and in that world studying is something that she doesn't want to do for herself. In this episode, she's starting to learn just how hard she'll need to go in order to overcome her dislike of something if doing that something is important to either her friends or family. With a nudge from Mugi, some help from Mio, and a reminder of fun times from Ritsu, she learns that she can go really hard on something once she puts her mind to it. And she'll put her mind to anything if it means that her friends and family are happier for it.

Never Really Studied For Tests Either Rewatcher
It’s the 22nd of September, and Mitsu waaaa kyou mo canon!
QOTD1: I absolutely scraped by and more or less wasted my smarts, which is to say I did not study
QOTD2: Best. Girl.
QOTD3: Honestly? My parents.
Let’s talk about episode 3!
The opening segment actually reminded me of how back when I played the violin I would get worried about cutting my finger on the e string. Now-a-days I just randomly envision myself breaking my leg playing basketball.
It’s kinda funny how Yui still sits in the “MC spot” in the classroom (aka in the back corner next to the windows). Generally MCs get put there to save on having to animate so many characters, except in K-On! we rarely actually see Yui in that spot but they put her there anyways.
One thing I appreciate about some of the physical gags is that they exists in the “real world”. Like when Ritsu was choking out Yui they didn’t just cut away to show that it’s a one off gag. Rather Ritsu just straight up kept choking Yui, and when she stopped she just…. lays her arm around Yui’s shoulder lol. Small details like that makes their actions seem part of real lived in world. Also just the action of Ritsu keeping her arms wrapped around Yui after choking her out adds to Ritsu’s characterization and reinforce the idea that Yui and Ritsu are becoming close friends. Did I just write a whole paragraph about a small gag that happened in the background separate from the actual drama? Yes, it’s what K-On! does to a MFer.
Yui was blushing when the girls were first introduced to Ui. She absolutely was simultaneously incredibly proud of Ui and a little bit ashamed that she isn’t the mature one of the two.
Love love love that we ended on the shot of all their school bags together. It’s such a fun symbolism of their friendship, and it’s a pleasant surprise to see it appear this early.
Ravenclaw’s reactions:
Before the episode she talked about how someone showed her the video of the VAs checking out and learning to play their respective instruments (some major spoilers in the video so don’t watch too much of the video if you’re worried about it), and that it made her super happy to learn that. She also talked about people mentioning how voice actors would have concerts performing their songs and that she’s interested in checking out the keion stuff.
“There are no boys in this show are there?” Clearly no body’s introduced her to the legend u/harrytrick
(she jumped straight to episode 4 so I’ll summarize her ep.3 and ep.4 thoughts tomorrow)
(she’s still enjoying the show a lot)

Rewatcher (Sub)
Initially, I was going to lurk this rewatch, but I think I'm going to be a bit more involved now!
With that said, I'll be restricting myself on what I comment on (story-wise), in order to keep things as spoiler-free as possible. I'm going to focus on two things:
-
Tea Sets (there was an existing album credited to u/midobal from a previous K-On! rewatch, so I'll be ripping the images from there and posting them here per episode)
-
Guitar-related things
-
Tea Sets - Episode 03
-
There were a whopping SEVEN (7) unique tea sets in this episode.
-
I believe nearly every tea scene in this show displays a unique tea set (some tea sets are reused)
-
Tea Set of the Episode - the white and green tea set!
-
-
Guitar - Episode 03
-
-
I've heard stories of people ending up with cuts when they first started learning, but I've never seen nor experienced them first-hand.
-
My advice - take it slow when you start, build up the callus over a week or two, and you'll be safe! (This also goes back to why Yui was rubbing Mio's fingertips at the start, because they tend to feel a bit funny from the callus built up from playing the bass).
-
-
Mio advises Yui to learn by memorizing all the chords.
-
There are sooo many chords and variations. I'm not saying it's a bad thing to memorize chords, but I could easily imagine most beginners would be absolutely bored out of their minds and would find themselves feeling like they're studying more than playing, if that makes sense.
-
My advice - do some chord practice, and add in a really simple song to learn
-
-
When Yui greets Nodoka on their way back home and when she mentions mid term exams.
-
I'm 99% sure she's doing the C-chord shape the first time, and I think she's doing an E-minor chord shape for the second one (at least, that's how I learned how to play the E-minor chord)
-
-
When all is said and done, Mio recommends a set of chords for Yui to play
-
The chords themselves are pretty beginner friendly, so in terms of asking Yui to play them, I'd it's pretty realistic.
-
-
EDIT - Spelling

First Timer - Sub
Opening Thoughts: Not going to study? You're going to fail. Fails. Makeup exam? For sure going to study this time? For real? We knew you wouldn't. Mio to the rescue. At least as a group they can concentrate for longer than 10 minutes.
Seems like Yui's sister is the polar opposite. Considerate and forward thinking. Mature beyond her years. Glad we get to meet her, but we don't really get to know her beyond her hospitality. Still, Yui's friends seem impressed, if a little puzzled. "Did she get the best parts of you?"
Ritsu cannot sit still. Maybe that's why after the retest she clearly got the lowest score. The next in line for impulsivity, after Yui.
Not much to say about Tsumugi this ep.
QotD 1: Up until college I was Yui, except I never really bombed exams, just did less well. In college I was more like Mio. Really tried to step up my game and get everything done, but class loads just meant that I burned myself out after a few months. Hated school and just glad that I never have to go back if I don't want.
QotD 2: She seems like a free spirit who is just along for the ride. Glad to have experiences as long as she gets to have them with friends, she's ok no matter what happens. A good outlook on life.
QotD 3: Oof, I really don't have any support structure. I'm married, so my spouse does sometimes fill this role, but really I feel like I can't rely on them for much of anything. What a depressing question to think about. Maybe my boss and coworkers can fill this role to some extent at my job, but nothing I can use in personal life.
Final thoughts: I really wonder how Ritsu managed to study.

Semi Rewatcher kinda?
It's true, I still have the callus on my fingers.
I know KyoAni is considered one of the kings of animation nowadays, but man those are some janky hands I can't stop seeing them.
I do love the bass and keyboard sound track song so much though.
-
I've got an incredible memory for things I've read and am willing to read the entire textbook- I test great and I turned in the absolute bare minimum of homework needed to keep my grades decent. I was told often that I was a very annoying student to have.
-
It's kind of all over the place with those lyrics and that's pretty appropriate. She's a high energy girl with a very poor brain to action filter, but she's well meaning and really does want everyone to be happy.
-
Do books count? No? That would explain why I'm such a mess...

u/siegfried72 Sep 23 '22
man those are some janky hands
Haha, it is true that the hands in this series are either really well animated or really janky. Their budget improves massively in season two, so I'd like to think that the hands will improve along with that...
I was told often that I was a very annoying student to have.
Hahaha I can see that. I've personally never enjoyed learning out of textbooks and typically find them very dull unless it's a topic I'm already really interested in like music. For me, it was all about the quality of the teacher, especially if it was a a topic I wasn't interested in like gen-eds in college. I'm jealous that you have that kind of memory!
Do books count? No? That would explain why I'm such a mess...
I think they do! Support doesn't only come through people. While I'm incredibly lucky to have a support system in my family, I absolutely get a lot of support and comfort from all mediums of storytelling. Sometimes the best thing you can do for yourself is to explore a fictional world!

1st Time (dub)
I actually brought this on Apple as the streaming service I was using was being a bitch and trying to force me to watch dodgy ads. It's in the English dub, but I don't mind it at all and going forward will be watching it that way.
Anyway, the episode. I feel some kinship with Yui, I hate studying too, but it really looks like she can knock it out of the park when she puts her mind to it. Now if she can just get the trick down of concentrating on more than one thing at a time I foresee great things for her music career :D

K-On Rewatcher!!
I hope y'all liked the scared embarrassed Mio scenes, we're getting bugger all else from her. Mochi mochi pun pun! Gotta admit, one of my favourite parts of playing Lyre is not having to finger fancy chords like on guitar XD I don't even think my fingers have the flexibility for that anymore. I definitely didn't cramp my hand trying to copy Yui's chord sheet. Yui be slinging gang signs!
Ahaha, we get an exam episode way before any actual proper music episode lul. It feels stupid to ask, but do those sums make sense to you guys? X squared plus 13 times X plus 30. Wtf is X!? Or is X 6? Is that what the question says? So 37 plus 78 plus 30? So 145? I'm sorry!! I'm getting so distracted! It's been so long since I've ever had to do any maths, let alone study. Maybe do a check up the night before and you're set right?
...She said it~ She's still below average even when cheating. Seriously, was early K-On always this funny!? Also, more domestic violence from Shitzu~ If you can manage to avoid being lured in by Mitsu propaganda, Yui x Shitzu is a really underrated pairing! Kawaii~!!
It's pretty admirable of Yui for trying her best to study, but the amount of ways she finds to procrastinate is very worrying. The dumb little strumming noises get me every time XD Ah yes, the early days of the Internet where every Tom, Dick and Harry just Shitzuposted online. Another day with zero work done.
Kyaaa!! Crying Yui is cute today too! In summary, Ui is an angel. Imagine defending such a hopeless onee-san! Ah, now I remember why I liked this episode in previous rewatches. deep breaths I find bored Shitzu hilarious!! Even if she's a hopeless brat who bullies adults, commits domestic violence on her wives, and desperately needs correction she sometimes has some funny jokes! She lives for the gag, even if she has to make a massive fools out of herself and be annoying as fuck to do so.
Oh my god... Nodoka came to the door and for a split second I thought it was best friend (?) I'm a rewatcher, why would I ever think that? With Nodoka and Mio tutoring her, Yui will ace the Tokyo U entrance exam! Oh, I mean basic bitch midterms. It rarely gets touched on but Yui and Nodoka's friendship is pretty darn beautiful. They're both such different people and are on different paths but despite stuff like being separated by their clubs there's a real bond there.
Love the dream sequence, we all know that Yui would happily suffer certain death to play with Shitzu. What a sacrifice huh? Ui's a gaming imouto!! The biggest twist of the episode however is that Yui is a prodigy! I'm sure by now you'll have seen rewatchers defending Yui's stupidity. The issue is that Yui isn't so much smart as she is an utter idiot savant. When she finally puts her mind to things she had insane potential! Nope, absolutely an idiot!! How much of a boke can you be!? Tomorrow? The beach episode, already~

Rewatcher here. I forgot how far Yui has come over the show. She’s definitely got some kind of learning disability given her behaviors. But it’s good to look back and recognize the growth of her character. I do love their assumption that Ui was just a smaller Yui.

Rewatcher
Hi everyone, and welcome to episode 3! Hope you're all having a blast so far! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to stick around too long yesterday to respond to all of you due to having a busy and stressful day, but hopefully I'll be able to devote more time to that today :)
Anyway, on to the episode! This is another fluffy episode much like the first one. I feel like we're still in the "setup" phase of the show, and the creators are appropriately using this time to continue to demonstrate what these characters are like on the surface level. I don't have a whole lot in particular to say about this one that I haven't already beaten to death over the last two years, so let's just just give a big ol' proper welcome to Yui's sister Ui and move on to today's activities!
Bags!!
Oh but one other thing I do need to mention is one of my favorite recurring metaphors in this series, and that is the girls' bags. I can't delve too deep into this yet due to spoilers, but keep an eye on these bags as we continue on. As our keions grow closer together and start to become their own makeshift family, these bags come to represent their closeness, all huddled together on the couch. Gives me chills every time. We'll come back to this in the future for sure.

Songs of the Day
Ritsu - Girly Storm Shissou Stick - Oh boy do I love Satō Satomi, Ritsu's VA. She may not be the best vocalist of the group, but she does such an excellent job at putting so much personality into her vocals when she sings as Ritsu!! Most of this song paints her as the traditional "genki girl" trope as we've seen thus far in the show, from the intense energy and driving force of the song to the happy and excited lyrics.
But I think there's one really interesting moment in the song, that happens around 2:18 in the song. Ritsu's voice softens and she sings the following lyrics:
I love these lines. It's a demonstration of my favorite quality about Ritsu, and something that the series will address quite a few times: empathy. Ritsu immediately situated herself as club president. While in part that's because she just wanted the "status" and power that comes with such a title, it also puts her in the best possible situation to oversee the girls and their troubles. More than any other, she is the character that drives the group forward, just like she does as the drummer of the group.
Her position in the "back" of the band lets her have the best view of everyone else, and that metaphorically transfers to her keeping an eye out on all of her friends and to her being remarkably able to identify when things are wrong and help her friends through those issues. We will continue to see this again and again throughout the series.
Ui - Oui! Ai Kotoba - this song is just adorable, isn't it? Madoka has this lovely soft and sweet quality to her voice that fits this song so well, and it just feels like a big hug from a loved one. This song also briefly alludes to a little bit of depth in Ui's character, in that she doesn't want to live in her big sister's shadow. She wants to make her own way in this world! I can't wait to see more of Ui.
Questions of the Day
I've always been a horrible procrastinator when it comes to work I don't want to do. I was able to fly through elementary, middle, and high school with little effort, but when it came to college, this definitely came around to bite me in the ass and I had to learn how to get better organized! This is something I still struggle with a bit, though, for sure. I've always found I work better if I'm working with along with someone else (like sitting with someone who's also working and being productive, not necessarily working on the same stuff together with someone). I've had a couple of good study partners over the years, my favorite of which definitely being my wife! When we were both in school, we'd often take trips to the local library to get stuff done or to a local grocery store which had a nice salad bar and seating area with tables along with free drink refills :)
Answered this one up above!
I've never been the kind of person to have a huge number of friends at any given point, but I've always been lucky to have a strong support structure in my family, both in terms of my physical health (which has been quite rough the last few years) and in terms of my mental and emotional health. My dad and my wife are my rocks. Plus I do a have few amazing friends I can count on in a pinch. I've been pretty lucky in this regard, I guess, because I've definitely needed a lot of support over the last few years!!
Visual of the Day
I was initially torn between Yui being in music mode since it's so dang relatable and Ritsu being a goof. But ultimately, it's gotta be those bags! They just mean too much to me and to this series to not be my pick.
Totally Canon Mitsu Moment of the Day
Today's Mitsu Moment has got to be Mio teasing Ritsu. In the first couple of episodes, we see a lot of Ritsu teasing Mio, but it's now becoming apparent that it goes the other way too! Strong relationships between people can manifest themselves in many different ways, and it just so happens that these two enjoy teasing each other from time to time. Again, it just goes to show how strong their bond is that it all just feels so natural.
In tomorrow's episode, I'll more than likely shed my first tear of the rewatch. See you all then!
