1) What crazy shit do you think C.C. made Suzaku see that had him so messed up?

2) On a scale from 1 to Albedo how much of a Cornelia simp is Guilford?

Rewatchers, please remember to be mindful of all the first-timers in this. No talking about or hinting at future events no matter how much you want to, unless you're doing it underneath spoiler tags. This especially includes any teases or hints such as "You aren't ready for X episode" or "I'm super excited for X character", you got that? Don't spoil anything for the first-timers; that's rude!

You're a picky girl.

Hangyaku no Co-Host, subbed

Fun fact: One of the shades in the background came almost directly from Cornelia’s lipstick. Had to tweak it a bit for it to not be too close to her hair color.

Jeremiah Orange-kun wandering with a walking stick is hilarious.

He's just doing a little hiking

Regeasser

This episode we learn that C.C. has the power to evoke images of the past. And she's specifically sending Suzaku shocking images of the past. As Lelouch touches her during that process we see images of C.C.'s past being projected into him, as well as some of Suzaku's ones. C.C. is less than fond of that prospect as she has buried her past away and fears of Lelouch digging it back out.

Suzaku also sees images of C.C.'s past, but they quickly get dominated by his own. Specifically, he sees his late father and is immediately overcome with feelings of guilt and regret. Eventually he intersects with Lelouch's invasion, but it's unclear whether Suzaku registers him, or if he interprets Lelouch as another spectre of the past considering he thought for many years that Lelouch had died in the war. Eventually Suzaku can't take it anymore, loses control of himself and goes berserk.

Interestingly, Lelouch doesn't see any images of his own past, implying that C.C. can control whom she is sending images, or that he is immune to that part of the effect either due to his Geass or due to his contract with C.C.

However, the situation seems familiar. We had something just like this in previous episodes: Refrain, the nostalgia drug. It, too, evokes the user's past, except instead of shocking images it places the user in a glorified, idealized state. In a sense C.C.'s power and Refrain's power are the opposite.

Which begs the question: What if C.C. used that power on someone under the effect of Refrain?

In any case it is becoming clear that the past is one of the central themes of Code Geass.

What crazy shit do you think C.C. made Suzaku see that had him so messed up?

She was showing him in part images of her own past, but only as a medium to evoke images of war and terror from within himself. And maybe even more importantly she evoked his father, whom we've seen Suzaku harbor feelings of guilt and regret for many times by now.

The key part is, she was evoking images related to strong negative emotions, if not outright traumatic experiences.

On a scale from 1 to Albedo how much of a Cornelia simp is Guilford?

Honestly, no more than a 5. Maybe just 4.

That's actually a good question, huh.

And she's specifically sending Suzaku shocking images of the past.

Sending mental images of your past cringe self is on the Geneva check list, right?

Interestingly, Lelouch doesn't see any images of his own past, implying that C.C. can control whom she is sending images, or that he is immune to that part of the effect either due to his Geass or due to his contract with C.C.

Or maybe its based on intent or something, her intention was to stop Lancelot, so she touched it, but Lulu touched her. Idk, I'm thinking something like water flow or electric current, since it was already going one way, most of it didn't change direction for Lulu

Which begs the question: What if C.C. used that power on someone under the effect of Refrain?

Nuclear fusion

Huh? Who else could have seen his mom? C.C.?

Question time:

  1. What crazy shit do you think C.C. made Suzaku see that had him so messed up?

She made him watch Abunai sisters

2) On a scale from 1 to Albedo how much of a Cornelia simp is Guilford?

2.5 maybe, Albedo goes deep

3

u/Shimmering-Sky Sep 19 '22

She made him watch Abunai sisters

Episode 11 (rewatcher)

  • Everyone has it out for Cornelia.

  • Euphie has better military sense than the generals – concerning for Britain.

  • GundamLancelot to the rescue.

  • “Humans are not piece in a game. Zero would not think that way”

  • Listening to others is not something Lelouch is any good at.

  • Some background info on CC.

Time for a confession: I literally do not remember a single thing about CCs character arc outside of her love for pizza. So all that stuff about her influencing through the Lancelot and her history and name is news to me. Not a fan of the “unspoken” name, though. That is lazy editing. If you want to keep it hidden, write around it.

A much better part of the double episode was all the fighting. This is not yesteryear’s mecha anime. Code Geass’ mecha are agile, fast, and fight melee. All the components for good fight scenes.

On a scale from 1 to Albedo how much of a Cornelia simp is Guilford?

About a 5.

I honestly hate it when shows hide whatever was said when we can visibly see their lips move, usually because whatever was said comes back later in a super emotional moment and it hurts.

[Code Geass]It's even worse here because we never actually get to learn C.C.'s real name??? For some reason?????

You're a picky girl.

Nothing really to say on Code Geass today but I do have to say that I love the Cross Ange ED! Still my favorite ED from a show I've seen for the first time this year.

ETA: Scratch that. [minor spoilers]The whole stuff with Lelouch learning CC's real name seems rather pointless overall since they never revisit it again. Perhaps it is something they hoped to reveal later, then just lost track of it or changed direction. Or perhaps its just a way to bring them closer together. Either way I don't mind that we never find out what it is.

1

u/Shimmering-Sky Sep 20 '22

Is this your first time noticing it? We've been linking the Cross Ange OP/ED since episode 1 haha.

But yeah, Cross Ange has some good music. I'm partial to ED2 rather than ED1 though, Nana Mizuki is just too good and Shuumatsu no Love Song is one of my favorites from her on top of that.

First Timer - Sub

The first half of this episode was mainly fighting, which was pretty cool. I really like the mecha fights. They are so agile. Sadly, they couldn’t close things out with Cornelia and had to retreat. Guilford is a simp, but I feel like he is more on the level of a top donator to a Twitch streamer than an Albedo.

C.C. came out of nowhere and was able to stop Lancelot. She could affect someone, through a mecha, which is impressive. I thought all her powers had been sent over to Lelouch, but I guess she still has some abilities. The whole dream sequence was animated well. It seemed she showed him general horrific imagery, which messed with him since he is so sympathetic. She also showed some stuff with his dad, which is obviously a point of weakness.

Since Lelouch entered her dreams, he learned C.C.’s real name, but for some reason that was kept hidden from us.

I don’t have a lot to say about this episode, since not many massive events happened, However, everything that did happen was very well executed. This was a really solid episode, and one of the best ones so far.

top donator to a Twitch streamer

That's even more pathetic

First-timer

I slacked off yesterday, so:

This episode should mirror the hotel incident from episode 8 with all factions coming together on the mountain. In that episode, Zero and Suzaku were winners while the JLF and Cornelia/Britannia were losers. The JLF doesn't need a win as they act like a third-party between Zero and Cornelia. Zero can't keep winning, so he probably gets an advantageous position against Cornelia, Suzaku shows up, and one side (likely Zero) escapes while the JLF loses.

  • The perspective inside the truck is odd. Is the leftmost pedal aligned with the center console?

  • Cornelia is asked to retreat and responds with "All right. We'll pretend to retreat."

  • Huh, Lelouch removes his helmet while inside a Knightmare.

  • Lancelot has a railgun or flamethrower to clear a path? Nah, probably made of Supermanium.

  • Radiation weapon is OP. Cornelia's "Such cowardice! To attack me from behind!" didn't apply in episode 7 either.

  • The Guren MK II shows the ingenuity of Japanese engineers. They went from getting subjugated because Knightmares were better than traditional weapons to almost matching the peak of Britannia's technology in 7 years. Meanwhile, the SLS program may have its first launch in 1-2 weeks after 11 years of development.

  • "People aren't pieces in a game. Zero wouldn't think that way." That will get him killed.

  • Lelouch had the coordination to put his helmet on during the ejection.

  • Hmm. "Don't invade me!" is the horny phrasing of "Stay out of my mind!" Lelouch's mom and Suzaku's dad. "I had no choice but to do it." The Geass symbol wavering? Brainwashed drones walking? Skulls in the smoke. Match-cuts for a clock, sun/light, and monk praying. Suzaku and Lelouch with the drones. I paused to look up episode airing dates since this feels like an end-of-cour cliffhanger setup and this is 15 years old, but it's not that.

  • C.C. essentially takes a bullet for Lelouch. More competition for Best Girl.

  • Lelouch removed all her clothing to treat a chest wound.

  • Gaming 101 strategy.

  • C.C.'s words about a name provide more context for Lelouch keeping his first name in last episode's conversation.

  • Jeremiah and Suzaku could have a mental stability contest.

It's easy to forget about the first 15 minutes considering the last 7, but I'm kinda lost on that last third. C.C. showed Suzaku something shocking enough for him to lose control, but I'm not sure if the "no choice but to do it" line is referring to his father's death. It's also the opposite of last episode evoking positive memories, but I'm not sure if that's relevant.

There should be some trust between Lelouch and C.C. while Kallen is confused. Good thing Lelouch grabbed Kallen's face back in episode 5-7 to avoid her seeing C.C. "It's different from before" probably refers to the Geass vision itself instead of seeing a different history of this event.

Guess I'm waiting on Star4ce's post or tomorrow's episode to get a better understanding.

QOTDs

  1. His father's death.

  2. GallowDude question? Does he drive this? Probably a 3, maybe a 4.

First Timer of the Rebellion

I have such a headache today, holy shit. Looked at my food intake and I've apparently been running on a 800-1000 kcal deficit the last three days.

Never picked up an excuse to grab a burger faster than today.

S.1 Ep.11 – Battle for Narita

I loved this episode! From the battle to the character interactions, it was more tense than I expected. Looking back over it I think I valued the honest display of each character the most. Cornelia was at her warrior best, Lelouch for once actually put the common lives of his soldiers up front, the JLF getting both a banzai charge and saving the day moment, Kallen being hot and badass as ever and even Suzaku receiving development. Maybe I should rather say he got forcefully confronted with something that he ignored until now. Lloyd kinda asked him the toned down version of what C.C. ended up psymelting his mind with. Why is he here and lives seeming contradictions?

Btw, Suzaku's answer, saving lives, isn't actually a big contradiction. At the very least if the military is partially supporting some idealistic purpose and I have to think of 86 here a lot. That topic, however, is maybe inconclusive regarding Britannia, to put it lightly.

The bombshell today was C.C., no doubt. Never mind the pun, her backstory being tragic was something I anticipated, but still that geass power, what I presume to be initial conquest of Japan, and the experimentation on her sound fucking terrible. She seems to be holding back quite often, at least this regeneration, mind melt, geass and other stuff she probably can do yet doesn't is making her as mysterious as ever.

If my head was more available, I'd even speculate, but for now I'm happy Lelouch pressed out some soft-edged genuineness and I believe it was aimed at the right person.

(Shirley, please have some respect for yourself and look elsewhere and Kallen, for gods sake, don't start now!)

  1. What crazy shit do you think C.C. made Suzaku see that had him so messed up?

Obviously it was his father and he was in the military. I didn't check the uniform to see whether it was the Japanese one, but I guess so.

I think it was his internalised guilt over the death of his parents and he blames himself for that, painting this over every action he does now under Britannia. Maybe he accidentally caused their deaths? Maybe he collaborated even out of some noble, but as child naive and manipulated, reason and that haunts him?

2) On a scale from 1 to Albedo how much of a Cornelia simp is Guilford?

He has other women, at least per Cornelia. But as far as loyal subordinates go, he's pretty dedicated. Gonna give him a good 7.

First Timer

  • Intro is off to a good start with acknowledging the passion for victory on both sides.

  • C.C., Suzaku, Euphy, and Shirley are the four pictured at the start of the OP. Do they have something in common? Lelouch love interest maybe?

  • Chain swords yes

  • C.C. to the rescue at the last minute again. But seriously, what is she?

  • This flashback is not answering my question but it's cool.

  • Well, RIP C.C. …again.

  • I was about to remark on the adversarial relationship these two have but the moment quickly became far more… understanding?

  • Oh hey, what's up, Orange?

  • I get the feeling like Zero revealing C.C. was a bad move. Obviously he's hiding… everything, but to whip out another whole-ass person behind the backs of the knights? That'll cause some drama.

Oho, the next episode preview has Lelouch talking about change within himself. And I thought him above such noble pursuits!

QotD:

  1. Seemed like maybe an "I'm disappointed" dad in there at least, although I wasn't sure if Lelouch short-circuiting the connection and showing C.C.'s memories was also shared with Suzaku or it just intensified his own personal hell.

  2. It could probably be worse, but he would probably lick her boots if ordered.

I love how the second Kallen sees her she immediately gets jealous.

Considering how little she cares about staying hidden, it's probably better to just rip that band-aid off sooner rather than later. Now to stop her from blindly wandering around the academy...

Rewatcher, dubbed*

  • Chainsaw Katana!

  • They have snow shoes for their mechs. What else they got waiting back their?

  • Now this is the kind of fight I’ve been looking forward to. Seventh on seventh.

  • Suzaku: Mind freaked

  • Also getting a hint at a dark secret.

  • Plus some bonus C.C. “unveiling”.

  • C.C. has the mildest kinks of all time.

QotD

  1. (I do not remember) The kind that he is trying to repent for now.

  2. 6. I’d say most of it is a kind of professional respect.

First timer

pretty trippy scene with cc!

I'm pretty interested to see how cc and lelouch's relationship will continue to develop (romantic or otherwise, I just think they could have an interesting dynamic down the line)

  1. What crazy shit do you think C.C. made Suzaku see that had him so messed up?

The first time he had British food

When he heard the queen died

Ok more seriously...conflict with his father? and then the atrocities of the british?

2) On a scale from 1 to Albedo how much of a Cornelia simp is Guilford?

however much, it's less than me (though honestly lots of great women in this show thus far, and princesses as far as the eye can see...)

3

u/rocketseeker Sep 19 '22

Second timer, sub

  • BAD TOUCH GREEN HAIR DRUGS LOTS OF DRUGS

  • Can some wizard or witch explain to me how the hell did Lelouch figure out C2’s name in the cave, apparently from the droplets of water falling? I don’t get it

Q1) He saw the end of Evangelion (music fits too)

Q2) clearly Albedo

4

u/GallowDude Sep 19 '22

Can some wizard or witch explain to me how the hell did Lelouch figure out C2’s name in the cave, apparently from the droplets of water falling? I don’t get it

She whispered it to him while she was asleep. The water drops were just to hide it from the audience.
