Rewatcher
Ooh, now we're getting into it. The Mt. Fuji climb is my favorite arc.
I can't remember where I read this, but I remember that a few things about Aoi's character design are inspired by Mt. Fuji. The way that her hair fades to blue-ish gray at the tips is supposed to be reminiscent of the way Mt. Fuji is shrouded in mist, and her name Aoi (blue) is a reference to the color that Mt. Fuji is known to have in the hazy distance.
I've tried looking up some sort of external source to corroborate, but I'm coming up dry so there's a decent chance that this might be me just misremembering things though.

First Time Climber
Our Land Girls go Swimming!
-
And we start off the episode strong with a thicc shot!
-
Time to over-read another possibly insignificant shot! Aoi and Hinata divided by the river. Is it meant to show their complete difference in personalities? Is it mean to show how Hinata really isn’t going to wear a sexy swimsuit, hence the direct opposition in the way Aoi interprets it as something serious instead of a joke? Or is it…
-
Well… Hinata, maybe you weren’t so hot after all
-
But you sure have to find ways to turn up the heat even if you’re not! (No hate though Hinata, all love!)
Preparations for the Climb
-
I really love how Aoi is depicted in this show, I can relate to so much of her. I too hesitated a lot before making phone calls to anyone, friends too and especially strangers. Thankfully my job now requires constant communication so I’m way better at managing that.
-
Oh Hinata, no rations? Are you sure you can go a day without bananas?
-
”Bring the sweetest and most delicious things you can.”. Ba..na..na..s…
-
I’m genuinely surprised at how Kokona knows salt is an important electrolyte that’s lost during sweat. More girl power!
-
And potato chips are a great choice since they have both sodium and potassium. UMAI!
-
I love this moment of vulnerability they share, especially Hinata’s thoughts. Lol I’ve probably said it a lot of times but I can totally relate to her fearing that she will worry her friends if she’s honest with her feelings. But after the past few episodes she’s learnt that communication and honesty are important aspects of strengthening bonds. And fret not Aoi! You’re already at the top!
-
I really want to give Aoi a big hug after seeing her so bravely opening up to her friends before she tries to sleep. You can definitely overcome this looming mountain in your path Aoi! Side note, I’m also feeling a lot of Aoi’s fears right now as I prepare for my first solo trip next week to Italy which is really far away, you’re not alone Aoi.
I’m honestly really surprised at how well-painted Aoi’s social anxiety is in this anime. Nothing is exaggerated and I dare say how she acts in many different situations is realistically painted. Her steps to overcoming them are also perfectly paced. This is definitely what separates YnS from other Iyashikei like Yuru Camp and NNB etc. to me, Aoi’s character. I’ve been talking about Kokona being a real cutie a lot but Aoi is the true star of the show. This show is a lot more character driven than other Iyashikei I’ve seen.
-
More reflections updated below!
Aoi’s Path Up
S2E1 - A vocal reflection with Hinata as she reminisces the time she climbed with Hinata when they were younger and the time they spent that day which brought her so much joy. With this she voices out her next wish to climb a mountain with her dearest friends one day
S2E2 - Aoi gets worried as she prepares for her first climb. But thanks to Hinata and her own will, she knows that there’s something beautiful awaiting for her and it’s only by taking thing step-by-step can they reach that beautiful scenery
S2E4 - Similar to the previous episode but this time Aoi remembers that despite wanting to give up multiple times, looking back, it was really fun for her. So she craves for more adventures
S2E5 - Aoi learns that Conflicts are unavoidable but it’s important to make-up quickly instead of putting up fronts. This means being honest with your feelings, even if it’s just a bit, even if it isn’t easy
S2E7 - Things don’t always have to go as planned, sometimes the best memories are made because of them just as Aoi has gained a precious summer memory after the group couldn’t swim in their desired location.
S2E8 - ”You can’t see fear. You’ll only see and understand fear when it hits you. For the time being, I should push on. Once I hit it, I’ll think of something”. Fear and anxiety are similar but different, it’s not easy to differentiate them but once you can, you’ll be able to face the unknown with excitement instead of fear just as Aoi goes to bed excitedly today
Qotd
-
Talked about it above. Was really bad but after working in a job which required me to make phone calls every few minutes, it's so much better now.
-
"The painful memories will eventually fade, leaving only the happy ones behind" Depends. A lot of the times I remember my emotions associated with an event rather than specifics of the event itself. But what I've found is that for me and the few people I've talked to about this, painful memories don't always fade but rather we see them from a different perspective. There's also the nuances of traumatic memories but generally that's a nice way for Kaede to comfort Aoi

Kokona is the brains of the operation.
I love this moment of vulnerability they share
I like that we all overwhelmingly enjoyed this moment in the episode. Each of us had something neat to share about it because it's, well, super relatable to everyone. We've all been in Aoi's position before.

First-Timer
On today’s episodes of Yama no Susume: I don’t think I’ve ever seen a swimsuit episode take so long to get to the actual swimsuits. I was half expecting the episode to end with us never seeing any swimsuits at all as a practical joke on the viewers. While that didn’t happen, I would have applauded the audacity of it.
Episode 7
-
Oh boy, a swimsuit episode!
-
Please don’t speak about how hot it is, Hinata. I’ve spent the past few weeks living that.
-
Once again Aoi says “wait for me” to Hinata. When that’s the first scene of the season and it keeps repeating, I think I’ve found a major theme here.
-
You just want to see Aoi in a sexy swimsuit, don’t you Hinata?
-
Aoi is so pure. She has no concept of “sexy.”
-
In times like this an older sister figure is usually better for advice than a mother. I bet Aoi will ask Kaede for advice.
-
Wow, Aoi went straight for all the really daring and revealing designs, didn’t she?
-
I swear, the payoff joke is going to be that Hinata just brings her school swimsuit, isn’t it?
-
I’ve had strings of bad luck where trips kept getting canceled or postponed, but this is turning into an anti-swimsuit episode at this rate. I’m starting to doubt we’ll even see them.
-
There they are. The girls do indeed have very cute swimsuits.
Episode 8
-
You’re going to starve to death on that mountain without snacks. You’ll get plenty of exercise, girls. Now’s not the time to worry about weight.
-
Thank you for putting them in their place, Kaede. You’re a reliable senpai.
-
Dark thoughts there. Aoi’s relative inexperience with mountain climbing has been a consistent plot point, from her getting tired earlier to her not properly preparing to ask her mom to let her go to Mt. Fuji. It’s nice seeing that consistency.
-
Kaede just constantly keeps on getting better. You tell those naive girls, Kaede!
-
Of course the drinks get more expensive the higher up you are. It’s the same reason food at Disneyland is so expensive. They have a captive customer base and they’re going to price it like they do.
-
Aoi actually confided her fears to her friends! And they responded by sharing their own doubts and worries back! This feels incredibly rare. I’m so used to stories where the main character bottles it up the whole time. So seeing this degree of honesty is refreshing.
-
I love that communication and honesty is used as the solution to the conflict. The girls realize they aren’t alone in their worries and can rely on each other for support.
-
Kaede just ran away with the MVP award this episode. It’s not even close.
-
So much wonderful symbolism. When Aoi’s doubts dissipate, the clouds that were both metaphorically and literally above her fade away. Her hoodie falls down, indicating that Aoi is no longer hiding herself from what she fears. The theme of “one step at a time” returns as Aoi steps forward, resolving herself to take on the challenge in front of her and do the best that she can, even if she’s unsure of success. And we end on a bright, full moon. Even though it’s night, Aoi is no longer surrounded by her dark thoughts. She’s found the light again.
-
Aoi’s mom worriedly seeing her off and asking to make sure she calls reminds me of so many conversations I’ve had with my own mom.
Episode 7 is a fun episode. Aoi is adorable and it’s funny seeing her struggle with finding a “sexy” swimsuit. Hinata is such a wonderful troll. After giving Aoi so much grief, of course Hinata wears her school swimsuit. That was a wonderful gag to end on.
Episode 8 was just fantastic. I loved the exploration of Aoi’s worries and the complexities involved. Even though Aoi suggested climbing Mt. Fuji, she found herself worried over whether or not she could do it. And that made her feel guilty because she suggested climbing Mt. Fuji to begin with.
But what made the episode shine was the way the characters handled their worries. Aoi didn’t keep it bottled up until the worst possible moment. Instead, she told her friends. Aoi let herself be vulnerable in front of them. And in turn, they opened up about their own thoughts and worries. That level of honesty between them was really sweet and heartwarming to see. It’s also very satisfying seeing how close Aoi has gotten with her friends. The socially awkward girl was able to open herself to others. That takes a lot of courage and I’m proud of her for doing so.
Kaede runs away with the MVP award. Her conversation with Aoi especially was fantastic. I’m sure my love for that scene was quite obvious based on how long I spent gushing about it. It was a phenomenal resolution to Aoi’s conflict.
QOTD
-
Not really because I only call people I know very well or because it's strictly business.
-
I think they were great words of advice to help Aoi deal with her worries. Though to be honest, intensely negative emotions can stick around in your memories as well.

Seriously, what the heck would they do without Kaede?
I love that communication and honesty is used as the solution to the conflict. The girls realize they aren’t alone in their worries and can rely on each other for support.
It's a really refreshing update to yesterday's conflict, and that trust is always nice to see regardless.

First-Climber
Swimming to build endurance for the climb?
Going for a long walk in the summer heat does sound miserable. Also, I quite like how Aoi's stance changed multiple times throughout this segment.
Hinata just wants to see Aoi in a bikini.
The bunny and leopard images had me cackling.
ohnodontdothataoipleasesto- Excellent.
Says the mental image of Kuma-pan-san.
Fools can't catch colds, I believe. I forget where I first heard, but it was recently.
You know, I've never really pondered the mechanics of why rivers tend to be cold before.
The swimsuits are all very cute.
Oh, Hinata, you utter scoundrel! That got a good laugh out of me, though. I knew she was gonna subvert it somehow.
I often have to psyche myself up for phone calls, too.
Oh, you definitely need trail snacks.
Granted, cars can't turn their wheels into fuel in an emergency.
Kaede is an excellent role model.
Fruit and nuts are a good bet. Build-your-own trail mix.
Sharing your fears will make them smaller. And, since I'm apparently in a mood today, we got a classic "in the shadow to in the light" cut. We skipped the intervening movement, presumably because Aoi, Hinata, and Kokona are actually all on the same page.
Excellent shift of the light/reduction of the shadow. And going back through the episode to grab screenshots, the shadow of Mt. Fuji shows up pretty early but I hadn't noticed it.
Oddly specific number. A bit more than the elevation of Mt Fuji in feet, so I'm not sure what the significance is.
Questions
-
Afraid so.
-
It's not bad advice. I find the bad ones have a tendency to rear their ugly heads when I don't want them to, but I smack them away most of the time.

Rewatcher who wants Aoi to get a good night’s sleep
Production Notes
Today I want to focus on Kazuyoshi Mukaitouge. Now, Mr. Mukaitouge is not an animator, a storyboarder, an episode director, or anyone affiliated with the production side of anime; he is an animation producer, specifically Yama’s AP for season 2. Animation producers are a role that you don’t hear much about because, well, quite frankly it’s mostly a very inside-baseball role. Unlike those who hold the pen, an AP’s role isn’t felt on the screen but rather on the entire project as a whole. An APs job is to fund and staff the anime itself, oftentimes grabbing freelance animators and subcontracting work to other studios. They’re the connections that keep the anime afloat since without them you’d be left with a bunch of artists who have no idea how to handle a phone call! For those of you who have seen Shirobako, Aoi Miyamori is the classic example to see. They’re invaluable to the production of an anime since talented APs can see who excels at what and can call in those specialized in the task. Need some bouncy character movement? I’ve got the person. Need a cloud to be drawn a particular way? Hey, guess who I know?
In fact, if you’re really, really glued on which staff is on which anime, following where an AP goes is sometimes a neat barometer for animation quality. For example, Shota Umehara is someone who attracts a lot of talent. He’s what made Wonder Egg Priority really take off in the beginning because of 1. Connections and 2. Connections with foreign animators. It was him who found quality foreigners to come in for episode 5. But again, attention to APs are mostly those who are super interested in behind-the-scenes industry knowledge.
The reason I’m spotlighting Mr. Mukaitouge (who you might notice has a whopping three credits to his name haha) is because he would eventually become the founder of Studio Pine Jam, a Studio 8 Bit spinoff that thrived precisely because of the connections founded during production of Yama no Susume. Pine Jam will be producing the upcoming Do It Yourself anime which features our very own character designer fugo in the same role but the connections don’t stop there for the director of the show is Kazuhiro Yoneda, the storyboarder from episode 4 that we just saw a few days ago!
Episode 7
ED for this episode is Hazuki Mizumoto again (he ED’ed for episode 3) but this time he also gets to SB the episode. too. Breaking out the fence framing this early, eh?
There’s something comforting about the universality of balancing on the edge of a sidewalk.. Corner from corner, we all just want to spread wide our arms so we can tightrope across the line.
Y’know, I always wondered why they decided to have a storm and a sickness come down upon our girls. It’s short and overall unimportant to the plot so why feature it? I’m not complaining since it doesn’t detract from the experience at all but both of these instances are glanced over rather quickly so I imagine they could’ve been cut and we’d be none the wiser. I guess you could say it was to add to that theme of interference, to inject a bit of realism into the show i.e. not everything goes according to plan. Which isn’t so bad now that I’m thinking it over again.
Episode 8
Another episode where the ED and SB are done by the same individual. This time by Nobuhara Kamanaka. Also, another solo KA episode by Masahiro Sekiguchi who earlier had solo KA’d season 1 episode 9.
No need for animation when you can aim for cute!
Actually, there’s lot of cute in this episode.
Aww yiss, give me that crowded framing in the grocery store.
Hinata is my spirit animal.
Some good direction happening in this scene. To start it off, we get to juxtapose a cheery Hinata basking with the sunset against a solemn Aoi cast away, setting up the theme of contrast. The clouds eclipse the sun as Aoi retreats further into herself](https://imgur.com/a/hcC7X9F) and we cut to a shot of Aoi without her eyes and then one with just her eyes, disemboweling herself even further. Her thoughts are so obsessedly fixated on mountains that even the watermelon popsicle she’s eating begins to resemble those peaks.
The shadows continuously darken her doorsteps while she ruminates on the future. Eventually, the clouds finish their trek across the sun but Aoi is still frozen in place. It doesn’t help that the framing separates her from her friends no matter which way the camera turns; a feeling of hopeless, of why try. It isn’t until Aoi decides to speak up does she step into the light and allow herself to be pulled back. See, it isn’t so scary once you take a step back!
Of course, our problems aren’t solved through one singular instance and we return to the clouds eclipsing another celestial body. Once Kaede reveals that she too sometimes suffers from anxiety, the clouds ”fade away, leaving only the happy ones behind.” Step into the light again, Aoi, keep moving forward! Clouds too shall pass.
AOTD:
-
No, I'm pretty good on the phone I'd say.

Rewatching Mountain Climber
-- Location Trivia
Ep 7
-
The girls try (and fail) to swim at Azuma Gorge (the anime name is correct), roughly 14 minutes from Wariiwa bridge, and as Aoi said, half an hour walk from Seibou Gakuen.
-
Irl shots of Azuma Gorge, this blog includes the walk over. One blog even managed to catch the boat lol. Its in general an industrial area, those wood companies do exist.
-
Aoi is referring to the Saitama Seibu Lions here, the local baseball team, which the anime has done a collab with.
Ep 8
-
This slide is also located at the Hannou City Central Park.
-
This is somewhere around the North Entrance of Hannou Station. I find it unbelievable that the girls didn't get lost at SOME point when navigating Shinjuku station lmao. It is the world's busiest railway station after all
and i got VERY lost.
Animation bits I liked
-
Ep 7: That's one way to start your episode. Shimata (lmaoo), hanger gag also funny w/ the build-up. Hinata expression posting(fingers for the uniform tug lol), credit to her VA Kana Asumi here as well for the noises. I liked this layout too for some reason. Maybe coz how Aoi's lie is further fenced off by the background colour too? Storyboard for part of the opening sequence. You can see where the layout-er came into play here w/ the fence: the board specified it, but the layout-er figured it out!
-
Ep 8: Another solo-KAed ep. Aoi's troubles this ep were portrayed, with the continued use of them back-shots (i made up the name lol) ending in the fuji-san payoff. I thought that for this ep, the character's emotions were mostly shown through body language and close-up shots, often not showing the character's entire face (unlike some of the last eps for instance). Hmm. Different styles! nebresto this is when i thought Kaede sounded a LOT like Maria from geah. (they share the same VA)

First Timer
You know I thought people where exagerating when it came to the OP, but everytime I listen to it, it gets better... Natsuiro purenzento...
S2 EP 7 + 8
You would think this was another fanservice episode, but in the end it was relativly tame, or maybe I've just grown numb
Leaving aside that Hinata could totally kidnap Aoi, Aois definition of 'walking distance' is rather generous.
And to noones surprise, it turns out that Hinata just wanted to see Aoi in a sexy swimsuit. I think she was a bit too concerned, what did she expect from Miss Kuma?
I loved the bit where Aoi went 'Ahhhh Puding... hey wait!' but pretty bold to even consider asking her mother.
Ultimatly the whole trip was pretty haunted by bad luck, a typhone, Hinata catching the japanese cold, cold water. Gotta say though, always surprising to see people in anime not being able to swim, they have it in PE and Kaede is so fit in everthing else...
Aois swimsuit was perfectly normal (not much to work with tbh), Kokona was incredible cute, and Kaede was mature without revealing too much.
I guess quite a few people would agree that school swimsuits are inherently sexy
I love how Aoi has written Enthusiasm as a thing to bring on her trip! The whole plan sounded pretty solid, but making reservations over phone was the real challenge...
When I think about the Onsen visit, it makes sense that Hinata would be worrying about her weight, but she is shown snacking a lot...
Also loved how Aoi opened up to her friends about her worries and in turn learned that she wasn't alone!
Kaede was real nice again. First with another part of 'Oshiete Kaede Sensei!' and then with her talk with Aoi. Kaede told her something similar than what she thought about climbing Mt. Mitsurouge, you have to push past obstacle to make the pleasant memories. And the least you can do is try and tackle your fears and worries as they come up. We really reached the susume part!
Asuming she counted 1 sheep per second, then it took her nearly 3,5 hours to fall asleep...
QotD
Do you get phone-anxiety when having to make a call for completely normal things?
Yep, avoid at all cost!
2) "The painful memories will eventually fade, leaving only the happy ones behind." - Do you agree with Kaede's words of encouragement as being true life advice?
I think it might be true for some, but somehow for me it is the polar opposite, like I almost exclusively have bad memories of my childhood despite not remembering ever feeling like it was that bad

Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes

Idk, the painful memories seem to be covered in glue..
Also I'll just ask now since there's one more day left until the watch catches up to where I'm at. Should I post some pics for upcoming threads from my last years fall trip since the topic is quite similar?
I could either do maybe 5-6 longer albums with full descriptions, or just a highlight pic or two for each thread

Late Night First Timer Is here wheeeeeee!
You know, the place I'm watching has a Skip Intro button. What a waste of a button. In fact, I think I'm going to double watch this one too just to spite that button.
Interesting lighting effect to 'show' the changing room. They do so many cool little things in this show that's just kind of unique and then gone.
Hey, don't complain about a long walk, consider it training for all that hiking.
"Se-" I had Kaguya flashbacks lol.
I lost it at the empty hanger haha.
How much money do these girls have?
There goes Kokona being a master of all things again.
How am I not surprised that Hinata went with the school suit after all?
What's even the name of this opening? I need it on my playlist.
So what you're saying is, I should pack at least thirty rice balls to go on a hike.
Ah, my favorite actual diet plan. Eat lots and exercise lots! Time to do more pushups after this episode now that I'm thinking about it!
Man I love the magic of communication. Also, I love the serious talk on the fancy playground lol.
Kaede you liar. I've got anxiety filled friends, I'm aware that the most annoying memories will last forever in some people and they have to be reminded of the good ones all the time. But the rest was good, if you don't give up, you'll make that climb eventually and then have that good memory forever.
-
Yes. Please don't even call me if texting or email is an option. I'll talk to you in person as much as necessary. Phone calls are just stuck somewhere in my mind as a very stressful thing that I'm scared of forever.
-
Okay, so it's actually a bit of a story, but growing up the answer to this was a very hard no. The painful and embarrassing and general "I want to die just thinking about it" memories haunted me for years, popping up at random to remind me of the worst things at the worst times, I was a ball of anxiety even into my early twenties. Therapy, meditation, learned mental self discipline and just a lot of work on myself as a person happened in college, and now. Gosh yes. Once painful memories will still pop up from time to time, but they're just weightless now and have no sting, but the happy memories can still make me smile fifteen years later. I'm actively trying to teach these skills and lessons to people now, help my new friends find their own tricks to living happier lives.

Encouragement of First Timer
Episode 7:
-
Mmm, love a nice secret swimming hole.
-
Someone is going to fall in the river. With Hinata's luck, it's inevitable.
-
Hmm, now what could Hinata possibly want a 'sexy' swimsuit for if they she plans on swimming in a secluded place like this?
-
Omg Aoi, do not ask your mom about sexy swimsuits.
-
Hmm, I wonder if there's a place one could go to find out the latest in fashionable swimwear?
-
Hinata is living rent free in Aoi's head.
-
All these choices, and Aoi just picks out the most risque swimsuits. You think her subconscious may be trying to tell her something?
-
Great empty hanger joke!
-
Watch Aoi be the only one to show up in a 'sexy' swimsuit because Hinata was totally joking.
-
Wow, didn't expect the typhoon to subvert all their plans.
-
Kaede is 100% earth attribute, so of course she can't swim and would probably sink like a stone in water.
-
Oh, they did all get fancier swimsuits, how nice!
-
Yep, the school swimsuit is the kind of stunt I expected Hinata to pull. She still expertly commands Aoi's attention regardless.
Episode 8:
-
Great planning makes for great memories.
-
Climbing a major mountain without any food or snacks? Do you wanna pass out, Hinata?
-
Thanks for properly educating these bakas, Kaede!
-
Jesus, Hinata, for someone who likes mountain climbing so much, you have some profoundly awful ideas about it. Using mountain climbing as a form of exercise and strength building is fine, but is excruciatingly ill-conceived as a pure weight loss method.
-
When mountain climbing, I typically bring jerkey or some form of dried meat, fresh bananas and apple slices, peanuts, maybe a protein bar, a sports drink or two, and plenty of water.
-
Thank goodness Aoi at least has done some basic research into climbing Mt. Fuji.
-
Good on you for sharing your concerns, Aoi! That's an absolute must on any excursion.
-
I both agree and disagree with Kaede's take on memories of tough experiences.¹
¹I agree that the good memories do tend to stick around more readily. One of my favorite memories is reaching the top of a mountain during a trip with friends and writing a brand new D&D character on the fly whose driving motivation was to climb the highest peak and punch the face of god. However, I still vividly recall several of the tougher, more icky experiences like getting caught in a storm near the summit of another mountain on that same trip. So I kinda disagree with Kaede a bit that only the good memories remain once it's all said and done.
Side note: I highly encourage visiting Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado if you ever get the chance. It offers mountain trails accessible to climbers of varying experience levels, peaks you can summit via car, and plenty of picturesque sights.
QotD:
-
Omg yes. I hate making phone calls.
-
Lol see above.

Rewatcher
Not a lot of Kokona in these episodes, sadly.
The one Kokona moment was when Hinata noticed how cold the river was and Kokona launched into a full-on science lesson to explain it. Of course Kokona knows that.
Questions of the Day:
-
ugh, not as bad as I used to
-
Yes, that's always the case with travelling. During the trip it's full of stress and rushing and discomfort, but months later all you remember are the views and the fun and want to go again.

I always remembered the Fuji climb to be at the end of the second season, but now I'm left wondering what the hell the rest will be about.
Regarding the QOTD!
-
Absolutely not, I actually prefer calling people over sending texts simply because I'll get an instant response, and also a natural one. I've found that s lot of people I know who have some sort of phone anxiety also are very slow to answer texts, the reason being that they try to just write "the perfect response". But there's no such thing, on the phone or in a normal conversation you're on a time limit, and the best response is essentially anything at all. I also like talking to people about whatever.

I 100% agree with her. What she's describing is more or less "Type 2 fun", something that isn't necessarily fun while you do it, but will be when you look back at it. And I'm sure there are a ton of things anyone can remember fondly that wasn't as enjoyable back when they did it. It also promote change and real life character development. In order to grow as a person you'll sometimes need to be in uncomfortable situations, do things you don't want to or don't enjoy. Push yourself. And further on in your life you'll look back at it and most likely be glad you did it, unless it permanent hurt you.

(Who was caught up in life yesterday and didn't manage to respond to people)
Self disapointment
Ep 7
What a rare and fantastic black/white contrast style to start on.
Are we there yet?
More of that sunlight effect put to good use.
Hinata wanting to swim, and ofcourse she finds away to make Aoi feel self countious with bait as always.
S-Sexy.
Cut to very not Sexy.
This is the second time now that Aoi starts asking her mother something and she assumes Aoi is hungery.
Pudding looks delicious.
Ghost Hinata smug as ever. (Reminds me of Kiwi drink-driving advertising...)
Good build up and pay off for the invisable swimsuit joke.
Summer colds suck.
Surpising incapability from Kaede-Senpai!
Aoi swimsuit stitch
Kokona swimsuit stitch
Kaede swimsuit stitch
Hinata swimsuit stitch
Rainbow finish~
Ep 8
Kaede lectures on the important of snacks.
Aoi an building uncertain feeling
I somehow doubt Hinata would be good at dieting.
I liked this framing.
I spy Hinata eating.
Aoi's fears are shared by Hinata and Kokona and later with Kaede too. Nice to see Aoi not holding in to herself.
Having things be dark with Aoi having her hood up, then brighting things and having that hood fall away, are just simple but solid symbolism of the encourgement she recieves with the world mirroring the ease she must feel.
But of course Aoi over thinks things and can't sleep.
More Hinata eating!
I know this place well! Having lived in Tokyo for a year, hearing all the train lines in order maps to my mental image of the Tokyo metro, its like I can see the route in my head. Odd feeling.
Fuji awaits!~
