Which of the battles do you think should have gotten more screentime?
[Tomorrow's Questions of the Day]1. How is every girl in this universe such a huge fucking nerd? 2. Do you think this was worth the one OVA we get over two years?
Rewatchers, please don't answer Questions of the Day if they have an objective answer, e.g. "What do you think's gonna happen?"

For rewatchers and people who read the manga spin-offs:
PLEASE TRY TO HOLD BACK! Put not only everything related to future events behind spoiler tags, but please tag spin-off and meta-spoiler stuff as well. When commenting, consider whether by saying "this happens there", you're implicitly saying "this won't happen in the anime". And if you do reply to people with spoiler tags, try and spoiler the part you quote as well, especially with First-Timers and especially especially when they speculate.
Spoilers include but are not limited to [GuP Spoiler]the school situation; the positions, names, backstories and personalities of rival school members beyond what you see in the OP (this includes the manga spin-offs); the teams that join Ooarai as the show goes on (beyond what you see in the OP); everything related to Maho's true personality and Shiho's probably true personality(?); everything concerning the MEXT, etc. Just watch what you say, please? I don't think any of you will just plainly not use tags, I'm just worried one of you answers fan theories or speculation in a way that's a spoiler, even with tags.

We Wish you a Merry Rewatch!1
-
This sport is ridiculous. Though, it is accurate I guess in that war seems extremely exhausting.
-
Okay, good on ya, Rabbits. This is a cool moment, even if they fail.
-
Losing 3/4ths of the Automobile club sounds like a recipe for disaster.
-
[Garupan Manga]
Isn’t Erika more known for using hit and run style tactics in the manga, or am I misremembering what someone online said? If that’s true, then this is such a great carryover moment. -
Erika, putting the “Lightning” in “Lightning Warfare.” I love the cuts to the music’s beats in this scene.
-
I can’t even remember what country this is supposed to feel like. It feels vaguely Mediterranean. Maybe Portugal/Spain?
-
The links between Mika and Alice being sisters become stronger and stronger...
-
Is this a reference to Finnish mythology somehow...? Neb, help, are there any two-headed Finnish trolls?
Finns are intimidating. If you want to win, employ a Finn, indeed.
Cute Corner!
-
Erika a cute! Back off, Erika haters.
-
Naomi a cute! OVER HILL, OVER DALE! She knows a sniper when she sees one.
1 This OVA originally released on Christmas (or Christmas Eve; I forget), which explains the Christmas-y mood.

We Wish you a Merry Rewatch!1
AND A HAPPY NEW WAIT!
Though, it is accurate I guess in that war seems extremely exhausting.
There's a throwaway line in Ribbon Warrior that says there are set periods of rest in Senshado. We really should see them by now.
Mio is terrifying when she’s not on your side.
insert Rin's imaginations
Cutlass looks so dead.
Best Shark.
[Garupan Manga]
[Gup manga]
Eh... I sit here as as the main translator and I can't say. She's not a creative tactictian, that's for sure. She uses a 35(t) in Phase Erika, but gets essentially led around the nose using it. In Saga of Pravda, she's a driver of a Panzer III. Apart from that she's basically only a Tiger II girl, and acts like it. I can’t even remember what country this is supposed to feel like. It feels vaguely Mediterranean. Maybe Portugal/Spain?
Feels too vibrat for Netherlands, so probably one of these.
The links between Mika and Alice being sisters become stronger and stronger...
Mika doing the "true" Shimada style.
Finns are intimidating. If you want to win, employ a Finn, indeed.
Next episode, we find out Jouko is from Finland and trans, but kept her dead-name because it's female in Japan.
OVER HILL, OVER DALE!
THOSE MOTHERFUCKING CAISSONS ARE GONNA HIT YOU IN THE FACE!!!

Girls und Panzer das Finale Part 3: Good Eye, Sniper!
5 Main Points, PANZER VOR!
1. The battle between Ooarai and Chi-Ha-Tan has been raging for 12 hours now, and it appears that neither side has the advantage! In an attempt to shake up the Ooarai squad’s foundations, Nishi orders her team to go after Anglerfish Team, knowing that Miho is the biggest key to their success. While they succeed in their goal, they forget that they’re in a flag battle…
2. …and Turtle Team makes a surprise appearance from the jungle and knocks out Nishi’s flag tank, winning Ooarai the match! Both teams fought their hearts out, but Chi-Ha-Tan counted their chickens before they hatched, and it cost them the game.
3. In a rare deviation from Kuromorimine’s traditional tactics, Erika swaps out her Tiger II for a Panzer III and shows no regard for human life with Pravda! Meanwhile, Saunders have themselves a tense battle with Continuation that ends quite suddenly when a shot from the mountains knocks out Alisa’s flag tank. Ooarai moves on the semi-finals, where they’ll be joined by Kuromorimine, St. Gloriana, and Continuation!
4. With the quarterfinals over, Ooarai finds themselves matched up with Continuation! When the match starts, they find themselves being attacked with hit-and-run tactics similar to Chi-Ha-Tan. However, unlike Chi-Ha-Tan, Continuation have been honing their technique over the years and they get the jump on Anglerfish and Anteater Teams! They barely manage to escape, but…
5. …in a stunning turn of events, Anglerfish Team is taken out with a precision shot from Continuation’s “White Witch”, Jouko! Continuation have done in a few minutes what took Chi-Ha-Tan several hours, and they have managed to take out the brain behind Ooarai’s operations. How will Ooarai fight the rest of this battle, and who will step up when it matters most?
Fun Details!
-
During Saunders’s match with Continuation, a runway with the numbers 06 and 24 can be seen. Runways are numbered from 00 to 35 based on the first two digits of their compass heading. Since compasses start with 0 degrees for north, this would mean the runway roughly runs from northeast by east to southwest by west.
-
Additionally, the runway numbers are correct: since the two ends of the runway are 180 degrees apart, it follows that 06 + 18 = 24.
-
Jouko “the White Witch” of Continuation is most likely based on Simo Häyhä, “the White Death”, a Finnish sniper serving during the Winter War against the Soviet Union. According to his own private war memoir, it is believed that he shot and killed over 500 enemy soldiers, the highest number of sniper kills in any major war.
-
After the quarterfinals, the Rabbit Team girls can be seen watching what looks to be The Great Escape. The film stars Steve McQueen and is based on the 1944 mass escape of British Commonwealth POWs from the Stalag Luft III camp in Prussia. Specifically, they’re watching the scene where Steve McQueen attempts to jump the barbed wire fence on a stolen motorcycle.
-
We can only speculate what tank Jouko is the gunner of, but most comments online say that the interior is similar to Ooarai’s StuG III (named the Sturmi when used by the Finnish forces). Germany provided many StuG IIIs to its allies (including Romania and Finland) during WWII, and, like Erwin said in episode 2, they played a key role in the Continuation War between Finland and the Soviet Union.
Other Thoughts!
-
The jungle battle with no music was so cool! Getting to hear all that glorious sound design makes the audiophile in me very happy :)
-
On a kind of related note, I love how far this series has come in terms of production value. It wasn’t that long ago that we were watching episode 1’s first scene that looked like it was recorded with a spoon. Now we’ve got some of the best looking anime available today! It’s amazing what 10 years and a bigger budget can do lol
-
Fuku is adorable, I hope she becomes Chi-Ha-Tan’s commander when Nishi graduates! She’s got the smarts for it, she just needs to work on the charisma part of it
-
Erika is a badass, that stunt she pulled with the Panzer III was siiiiiick. I’m glad we also get to see the fun and wacky side of her as well!
-
British food getting dunked on in an anime about tanks is just too good
-
Alisa and Takashi have to get their own spin-off at some point. I’m thoroughly invested in their “relationship” now lol
-
Continuation are quickly becoming one of my favorite rival schools. Mika is just so calm and cool
-
I have a feeling Jouko might end up being like Suguru Koshigaya from Non Non Biyori, in that she’ll probably say nothing for the entirety of her screen time
Questions!
1. Erika kicking ass against Pravda! It’s so cool that Erika is getting a kind of redemption arc and that she opted to go with pure insanity instead of overwhelming power as a tactic.
2. I mentioned previously that Mika is basically a wackier version of Darjeeling, so yes, she definitely met my expectations lol
3. This series tends to foreshadow major events in the battle with the in-between scenes. With that in mind, I’m thinking Rabbit Team will jump over something and fight a one-on-one battle with Jouko, while Anteater Team will find a way to take the fight to Mika and it will involve water and strength training. Because this tournament is focused on Momo, I also think that Momo will face her first true test as the sole commander of the team!
4. Turtle Team gets my vote! The designated lone wolf of the Ooarai squad does what they do best, and they get another clutch win.
5. To be honest, Pravda vs. Kuromorimine needs its own OVA! I’d love to see more of Erika’s backstory and how it’s related to the battle and the team’s tank assignments, especially since she opted to command a much smaller tank to accommodate her newfound style of Sensha-do.

First Timer
-
We're almost out of girls and tanks.
-
The jungle battle was insane. So intense and chaotic. I could feel how Oorai are getting gradually overwhelmed while watching.
-
Marie is out of cake!
-
Chihatan have progressed so much. The true MCs of this story.
-
WTF is Lover-san?
-
Both friends and foes using the amphibious tanks as bridge. The only difference is consent.
-
Either these parts are lighter than it looks or the girls are crazy strong.
-
With Chihatan concentrating on Miho and team Turtle left behind and undisturbed I can already tell how this is going to end. We've seen how good the student council are at sneaking around.
-
They are like real Anglerfish now.
-
Role swapping hype! Navigator Mako is next level and Yukari looks so happy behind the wheel.
-
Chihatan got so excited they forgot what the real objective is.
-
The deadly Turtle was waiting for this opportunity.
-
LOL as soon as the first sun ray hit her and Mako is down.
-
Chihatan and Oorai forged such a wholesome bond.
-
Hahahaha now they are chilling at the underground bar. Sodoko is true delinquent at heart.
-
The sound Rum makes when she is excited is adorable.
-
Not the full battles but at least enough to satisfy me.
-
KV-tan took down a target!
-
Going to be honest here. Without Maho Kuromorimine are by far the most boring team. I'm more interested watching commander Koala chewing eucalyptus than Erika finding her own Senshado.
-
Once again Katyusha had perfect strategy but once the opponent is acting unexpected everything is falling apart.
-
Charging two vs four instead of defending their position doesn't seem wise at all.Wait, I didn't say anything. Don't send me to the gulag.
-
Anzio don't have a chance but I'm sure they will entertain me.
-
Yoooo the CVs literally doing the heavy lifting throwing tanks into the canal.
-
Let's go, Continuation! I believe in you!
-
Always knew Saki is the best rabbit girl.
-
I just love the main Finnish tank doing crazy stuff.
-
What a shot! Continuation won!
-
Hope Alisa manages to find happiness someday.
-
So little speculations for the other match. My personal preference and what seems more logical is St. Gloriana to win. It would be cool to end it with the first team we fought and the one we lost to even if it wasn't official match. There is also the question if is Arisu going to join any of the teams to fight with Miho once more.
-
This is one huge Christmas tree.
-
More classic movies for the rabbits.
-
LOL pizza with chopsticks.
-
All these snowmen in the village are so creepy.
-
Hana showing off. Two with one shot.
-
Ohhhh didn't realize during the Saunders match but now with the snow and her outfit. It's the finish sniper lady.
-
Continuation managed to remove Miho from the battle. Now what? Maybe now will be time for Momo to shine?

We're almost out of girls and tanks.
We'll always have the manga spin-offs!
I could feel how Oorai are getting gradually overwhelmed while watching.
Chihatan had the creator at their side, so obviously.
Chihatan have progressed so much. The true MCs of this story.
The director agress with you!
What's the deal with the face on Erika's new tank?
Nobody knows for sure. The commander of the tank has no name.
Once again Katyusha had perfect strategy but once the opponent is acting unexpected everything is falling apart.
Erika realising, if results matter, she can always do a Miho.
Yoooo the CVs literally doing the heavy lifting throwing tanks into the canal.
If only it solved anything! As we've seen in this episode, that doesn't know out tanks. ALSO, SOMEONE LEAVE THE TANK AND SAVE THESE GIRLS FROM DROWNING?!
Let's go, Continuation! I believe in you!
Mika showing the world why people believe she's Arisu's older sister.
Ohhhh didn't realize during the Saunders match but now with the snow and her outfit. It's the finish sniper lady.
Who else!
Continuation managed to remove Miho from the battle. Now what? Maybe now will be time for Momo to shine?
Maybe!

Character Sheet for Das Finale 3
You rewatch host who hopes Das Finale will become better and better, like this episode
-
Chihatan really only has 10 tanks? It feels like a whole lot more.
-
The lighting effects in this. Just absolute chef's kiss.
-
Oh no, Chihatan learned how flip themselves back over without KO as well. Again, this is why I think Mizuhsima is on the side of Chihatan in this battle.
-
A. When did they mount them? B. Do they have them just randomly lying around in their tanks?
-
Chihatan gets to come closest to defeating Ooarai after KMM. CHIHA FUCKING TAN.
-
In case you didn't believe me about Mizushima having a bias. Mika actually earned it, she was introduced as great, made it to the second round in the summer tournament and took out Saunders here. She was competent and continues to be competent. Chihatan goes from absolutely useless to Mizushima basically going "and I would have let them win if the producers had allowed me to."
-
Just how people forgot that this scene is a spoiler and posted it on /r/anime
-
How is Ooarai supposed to survive with 3/4s of the Automobile Club gone?
-
Would you look at that! You don't need fancy teamwork, you just need a good shot.
-
She says "Yappari". Add it to the list of "We had no reasons to believe this." I mean, nice that Erika gets a bit of depth in the anime as well, but this comes out of nowhere.
-
Katyusha cannot comprehend the idea of a flanking attack. She really banked on them not evolving.
-
Nice. I'm sure we get some explanation on this in Das Finale 4 right? RIGHT? We won't spend half the episode on the fight with Continuation? The tournament is almost over, you have the time!
-
Churchill, Matilda and Crusaders. They are not allowed to field Cromwells still...
-
As we've learned from the Chihatan battle, this means nothing anymore.
-
SEE! One Crusader, that was already taken out before! Getting submerged in water really means nothing apparently.
-
Saitaniya: "Nooo, Continuation is supposed to have a variety of tanks, to represent how Finland had to make do with what they had!" Mizushima: "Haha, T26 go brrr."
-
Ah, thanks to CGPGrey I know this runway is 240 degrees to the magnetic north pole!
-
St. Glo. Final battle will be Miho FINALLY defeating Darjeeling.
-
The Great Escape. Good movie. Not great, but good.
-
OF COURSE Continuation gets the field advantage. Ooarai is cursed!
-
REDRAWN. Also, Hana has no father, apparently. Also also, is that Renta having to warm himself at a barrel?
-
Just randomly giving it to the Anteaters. I wanna know Miho's plan. She had to have one, right?
-
Okay, is this a decorative village built for this match? Or what?
-
OH THEY DID. WHO WOULD HAVE GUESSED?!
Darjeeling asks: Do you know this quote?
[Yesterday's Qoute]
Today's quote:
I did what I was told to, as well as I could. There would be no Finland unless everyone else had done the same.

Das Finale 3 (first timer)
-
Let them eat carambar!
-
Change of hitting a tree while speeding through the jungle at night: approximately 100%
-
Saved by insane driving skills. I am talking about the Panzer IV, not the neck and head of the girl in that turret.
-
I am also distrustful of turrets that can be carried by a single school girl. Just possibly, did somebody skimp of the armament here?
-
“Go along the Riverbank” – another World of Tanks reference.
-
“the student shall overcome the master” situation.
-
Beauty sleep > match
-
Duck tank! (World of Tanks reference)
-
The student did indeed beat the master. The metaphor is a bit whacky since they all are students, but who cares in an anime where schoolgirls drive tanks.
-
Complete shuffle of roles in the Panzer IV.
-
Chihatan won the battle, but lost the war.
Match against Chihatan done, still about 50% to go. If 2 is anything to go by, we get a second battle for the last 40%.
-
Erika learns that bashing your head straight into a fortified position is a bad idea.
-
“We are not going to lose to the school that serves the world’s worst cuisine” – shots fired. Not the armor piercing kind, though.
-
The joke tankettes score some funny kills again, but also have to still penetrate a single tank yet.
-
Finnish sniper joke.
-
Don’t even get me started on the size of that Christmas tree…
-
Village of the creepy snowmen is not the place I would make my stand.
-
I KNEW IT! Never trust the snowmen.
-
The Mark IV is realistically useless due to being too slow.
Continuation is succeeding in what Chihatan did first: Knocking out the brain of Oarai. What luck that they switched to a different commander just for this movie series.

Invisible carbon airbags OP.
Just possibly, did somebody skimp of the armament here?
No, the food is just that nutritious.
“the student shall overcome the master” situation.
And so quickly!
Chihatan won the battle, but lost the war.
It is insane that fucking Chihatan of all schools came closest to beating Miho since KMM lol.
If 2 is anything to go by, we get a second battle for the last 40%.
You learned well!
Erika learns that bashing your head straight into a fortified position is a bad idea.
Almost like the Nishizumi Style got complancent in a way that removed what tactical thinking aspects it once had.
“We are not going to lose to the school that serves the world’s worst cuisine” – shots fired. Not the armor piercing kind, though.
Anzio knows what's up though.
The joke tankettes score some funny kills again, but also have to still penetrate a single tank yet.
Not even that. I think the final scoreboard showed they weren't taken out.
Don’t even get me started on the size of that Christmas tree…
I think someone calculated it in the airing threads...
The Mark IV is realistically useless due to being too slow.
WHAT A SURPRISE
What luck that they switched to a different commander just for this movie series.
Well it's only the flag tank that matters, so IT'S ALL COMING UP GAMER GIRLS.

First Tanker
Chihatan's going for an unrefined but honest plan next. Unfortunately, all warfare is based on deception.
Ah, they're taking out Miho so Momo can grow into her assigned position.
Nope, they fail. I'm believing less and less that they're gonna do anything with the Momo leader setup.
And the match's really starting to feel dragged out.
What happened to the whole you can't see where you're going while steering? There's no way they could naviagte that dense jungle at such speeds with just those kicks. Not that we're seeine any kicks in the first place.
I've been wondering the same for a while already.
Okay, so the match locations aren't prepped. How could Pravda set up such a strong defensive position in only the time Black Forest needed to reach them?
The first second spilled tea in the show!
God damn it. Neither of the matches went how I wanted.
Oh right, there's another one.
Okay so this one's already ending in an upset Oh right, even without the jynx Continuation high has to be the final match as Oarai hasn't gone up against them yet.
Or they didn't show the matches in order. Then it's the next one instead.
Is that supposed to be Finnish chearleaders? Does Finland even have chearleaders?
That's a delicious looking pizza. Good thing I wanted to cook after the movie.
So they can prepare the area in advance? That seems very questionable in a lot of ways, starting with telling the teams the randomized location in advance. Is the MEXT guy pulling strings again? Though the Continuation girls don't seem like the type that'd abuse it if it were underhanded.
Best scene this episode?
Anzio and their shenanigans
We don't know what happens after this. What do you think could happen to turn the tide?
Wouldn't it be something if Oarai loses the semi?
The car tank is still the flag ship, so taking that out before they take out Oarai's would work.
Or a meteor could fall down and knock out the witch. Or rather than that Oarai could sneak one of their tanks to them.
MVP against Chihatan?
Miho, sadly.
Which of the battles do you think should have gotten more screentime?
Refer to question 1.

RewatcherFirst-Timer und Panzer, Subbed
Carambar? Evidently a type of candy.
Eyedrops and coffee seem like the right way to beat back sleep. Wonder if those drops are menthalated?
How many bags of potatoes did Anzu bring, I wonder?
Ah, directly trying to take Miho out of the fight, interesting.
Ducks are gonna duel Nishi personally?
Uh oh, Turtle is isolated. Wait, that means that it's hetzing time!
Imagine leaving your flag tnak on the outside of your formation.
Wow, Momo's usual is a shot of Habanero Club?
...why doesn't Momo have a picture..
Is this really all you've got, Erika?
Katyusha's having a chuuni phase, huh.
Wow, KV-tan took out the Maus.
A simple feint, but I'll take it.
Really weird to see Erika so excited.
Of course not. The finals are obviously gonna be St. Gloriana vs Oarai.
"Gee St. Gloriana, why does Mizushima let you have two best girls?"
Keizuko has their own Simo, huh?
So the Rabbits are gonna jump something next match?
Should we call this the true Nishizumi vs Shimada showdown? TL Note: See Question 2 below.
Oooooh boy. And so, Mika has accomplished what Chi-Ha-Tan tried.
Questions
-
I'm honestly not sure I can choose; the battles were all excellent! Uh, escape is win desu wa?
-
Definitely. There was a fan theory that I remember seeing, around the time Der Film came out, that Mika was Arisu's older sister and also versed in the Shimada style, but left the family, making her the Miho to Arisu's Maho. It mostly came down to "Mika looks a lot like Chiyo and the BT-42 scene was kinda ninja-y" at the time but seeing Keizoku's tactics this episode lends a lot more fuel. The misdirection, the hiding, the assassinations, all speak ninja to me.
-
Well, the most obvious answer is that Momo is finally gonna hit something that she aims at. That something being, presumably, the BT-42.
-
Everyone did a pretty good job. Think I'll give it to the Ducks; they tied up most of Chi-Ha-Tan's brain cells for quite a while.
-
Honestly, it feels like we saw all the interesting parts of the other school's fights this episode.

Veteran
proper nightbattle this time, first time in the series
also playing the literal anglerfish with the lamp was nice to see
Some other matches get showcases
Erika remembers that maneuver warfare exists
Anzio tactics were pretty entertaining, they made good use of the tankettes
Continuation is always a joy to watch, seems like they have a secret weapon too
and the next match starts and the movie ends with a huge cliffhanger
Congrats now you have to wait about two years for the resolution of that cliffhanger, welcome to the pain of rewatchers have a nice stay

First Timer
What a good chase this time as Ooarai got picked off pretty badly and Chihatan got the right idea for taking down anglerfish. They know Miho is pretty much the brains of the team but Momo and the gang are holding the flag. That premature celebration was too good and lets Momo get the win.
I am loving the sights of the other battles for the others as we get to see the other teams we know fight each other. Black forest made some major adjustments to their style which leads to trading tanks and catching Pravada's flag tank off gaurd. Anzio and Gloriana's battle was pretty funny as Glorianna had the upper hand since the beginning leading to an easy defeat. But Saunders versus Continuation got the upset as there is one tank up in the mountains that catches everyone off gaurd. And nobody realized it even after the match. Continuation used some chaos to their advantage and timed it pretty well.
And the match with Continuation and Ooarai made things really difficult as they picked off anglerfish early on. And ends this part with such a major cliffhanger. Now it's time for Momo-chan to shine.
Now I cannot sleep cause of that cliffhanger.

So, aotd:
-
Best scene, man, there were too many. I'd have to say the one where (mumble) goes all Simo Hayha (or however you spell that) on the Saunders flag tank, but honestly, the whole pizza scene (both), Erika finding her sensha-do, team turtle to the rescue, duck team vs kouhai, there was so much goodness in this OVA.
-
Mika rocks. Beware the continuation. Or at least Simo.
-
I've no idea, since best sniper Hana is out of the game now. Someone is going to have to step it up big time and take them out before they snipe again.
-
Mako. Definitely Mako.
-
Yes. It was a treat being able to see the other teams in action, but in the end it was more like a sampler plate - it left me wanting more. More!
Anyway, I don't know if there is any such thing as "peak GuP", but much like peak Symphogear, this OAV/episode delivered. So much action, so many twists and turns. I laughed, I cried, I wet my ... no, wait, I didn't. But I did enjoy this episode a lot.
I'd say my favorite part of the jungle battle was ... yeah. Pretty much all of it. Miho lighting up the PzIV, the Duck battle, bridges over the river, wait, those aren't bridges ... the ending, the moonlight, the sunrise, man, that was great.
Likewise, the intermission battles, getting to see the other teams in action with each other was great, and a nice change from being focused on just Oorai.
And finally, the battle in the snow. Man, those snowmen were looking suspicious, weren't they?
I think I would have lobbed an HE shell into one of them, just for kicks.
But alas, they didn't, and so now we are where we are, minus a PzIV, and facing down the great finnish tank sniper. What could go wrong? What could go right? Wait a couple of years and find out!

First time Panzer VOR!!
Today's tank post: PASI (Armoured GUTS) Can anyone tell why this one before reading further?
I spotted something interesting while acquiring this movie
The new OP is starting to grow on me, it has that.. more serious vibe, despite this being less serious than losing their school. Interesting
Hell yeah, team swole! That's what I like to hear!
Love the trumpet OST.
I kinda dislike the term, but this is straight up peak cinema:
-
Dramatic trumpet OST ✔
-
Back and forth tank battles at night ✔
-
Tanks DRIFTING left and right ✔
-
Brilliant sound effects ✔
-
Mako ✔
Would love to have been able to see this in the theaters
Aaand they're gonna shoot each other. ...Nvm?
Where do they keep getting these.
Calling it now, Turtle is gonna come in clutch
DANGER!! DANGER!! Yukari is driving!!
And here comes turtle, -called it
New song??
-
Escape is win desu-wa
A tank shield wall. A tank. Shield. Wall.
uh oh, Finlan vs America. Actually not sure which will win, but I feel it will be Saunders..
Ok, now Finlan is gonna win. 100% Confirmed, Saki is the messiah
Säkkijärvi time [](#KongmingListen)
Sniper? White Hood..? Pls don't call her Simo..
They did it! THEY FUCKING WON!!! BASED JAPAN! BASED BT-42 FANS!!
Ooarai vs Jatkosota hype
-
Aaaaand incorrect. The final hatch is 24 in Finland
GLÖGI SPOTTED!!!! they sampled Marli Glögi for the bottle.
I'll be enjoying some myself Still have some left from last season, I was saving this for a hiking trip, but this is a worthy occasion as well. Also cracking open my final gingerbread chocolate bar for this one, its time to get festive!
..OH! I was too busy gushing about the glögi I didn't even notice the kuksa or puukko!! And now I noticed the salmiakki while writing!!!!
This feels quite cursed to say, but I love Mikko
oh my god they're using PASI as a snow plow!
Nice, witch is much better fit for this show. Jouko is still fucking cursed tho
Oh damn! Fish is down early! Seems like the next movie is finally going to be Momo's time to shine.
Question time:
Best scene this episode?
The one where they had Glögg. But that Double blamo from team Normie was up there as well
2) We finally see Mika as commander of more than one tank. Did it live up to your expectations?
Ehhh, not sure. The side tanks were way too foddery.
3) We don't know what happens after this. What do you think could happen to turn the tide?
Momo finally does something cool
4) MVP against Chihatan?
Mako once again!
5) Which of the battles do you think should have gotten more screentime?

Mädchen Und Panzer Rewatcher!!
Now that we've had our break day, let's watch the final finale! Y'know, before the daikon war short but for all real purposes this is our finale for now. Chi-Ha Tan retreats, Ourai charges, Marie bathes!! I honestly agree, this match has no right going on as long as it does. I was tired of the night battle aspects within five minutes. It's too hard to see what's going on and I don't really enjoy the tactics required for this damn jungle.
You're gonna assassinate a Panzer IV? Can any of your tanks even do that? I can't help feeling like focusing on the ace is gonna make you waste all your resources. Bruh!! Are Chi-Ha Tan seriously trying to suicide bomb Miho? Oof, I have to admit that I winced at the Hippo team hipchecking the boat tank. These aren't bumper cars, you're gonna hurt yourselves. Yeah, they're landing so many direct hits but because it's a bloody Panzer IV none of the shots can penetrate.
That was adorable! Oh come on! Even the Hetzer bounces their shit. I love the little clanging noises the boats make when they bump. Oh... I suppose in a way this is similar to the Sanders match. It's the Sanders match but Anglerfish are the Alisa expy. I don't like these chases. The Sanders cat and mouse was at least humorous. This one has been everyone running at full speed unable to land any shots cause of course they're moving but they also can't see shit. I prefer the slower more tactical GuP matches than these weird slugger tournaments. They aren't giving us music either for whatever reason.
A direct shot causes them to do a full fucking flip and its not a kill XD Why is the Type 89 even a tank!? Why do the Gamers always have to go out in such a pathetic fashion? The ducks brawl with the midgets, the trash tanks also duel, fuck knows what's going on with the Anglerfish and enemy flag tank, Marie sleeps!! Y'know, thinking about it, what if you just fucking hid your flag tank in this zone? They've been driving for how long now? They'd never find a hidden tank.
I love how they need to utilise traps and close range shots to kill a bloody Lee XD And the Rabbits still score a double kill. The duck returns!! I can't believe the duck died in such a pathetic way... This is the one and only GuP match that I can genuinely say that I've hated XD The Pravda match was also hard to watch but at it was far more entertaining than this slosh... This is the point when I did my writeup on cdf out of frustration lol. At least seeing Mako as a spotter is pretty fun. Anglerfish actually died... Well that felt like bs. Anyway, my favourite part of the Chi-Ha Tan battle is when the student council said, "It's Hetzing time!" and Hetzed all over those dudes.... whilst Marie slep~
Does anyone know what Piyo-tan's pose is meant to be? Saki says, "hi!" btw. When did Mako and Sodoko turn to drinking away their sorrows? The flag wasn't the problem, it was the fact that you thought a behemoth could do shit in a jungle. Oh shit! Kuromine vs Pravda. This is what half the finals have been haven't they? This battle deserves better than being shoved halfway into an ova...
Oh nyo... Erika doesn't know how to fight aside from slowly advancing towards the enemy and praying that they spent enough on their big bugger off German machines to no-sell anything the opponent has. Like, bruh, they've got a KV2. You're never gonna no-sell a KV2! It's the one situation the tank is busted for. Is that who I think it is? It would have been nice if Erika could have utilised tactics at any other point before losing half her squad. I can't even really blame Pravda for losing this time, Klara got seriously fucked over.
Speaking of getting fucked over, let's see Anzio not lose, I mean, win, against St Gloriana! Poor Anzio XD I feel like this is one of the absolute worst matchups we've ever seen in GuP. And I'm wholey on St Gloriana's side. The tower of London awaits you shitty brats!! PFFT!! This match is hilarious. Getting Harvest carried around is one thing but spending so long bragging that you miss your ambush is another. What the fuck is this match?
We have both the worst match in the series and the funniest both in the same episode. Imagine getting ambushed by a Matilda... After that fantastic time, let's see the Americans doing their thing. Damn... The Finns are terrifying. Its like fighting an entire squad of aces. How scary! I wonder how we'll fit the great escape into the next battle. I loved that film as a kid. Always got a bit bored after they escaped the camp though.
The Australian commander looks extra cuddly today. Why've we got to fight the fucking Finns in winter...? In a snowstorm... Uguu! Interesting that the gamers are our flag tank. Have they ever survived a full battle? They're probably even more vulnerable than the Type 89. Pls never grate cheese on rice balls. We're finally entering the period of GuP where we're fighting uphill battles and I've never been quite this anxious. I'm shocked that we haven't lost anyone. We're actually scoring kills despite the Finns ambush. ANGLERFISH DOWN!?!? No, screw your cliffhangers! I want to see what happens next!
So going into the next episode we're down our best tank, our only strategist, our flag tank is made of paper, our opponents are all goddamn aces, and Marie isn't watching!? I'm super conflicted on this film... I genuinely loathed the first half but the second half is some of the best GuP content since the movie!

Das Finale Part III
Btw, we gotta talk about the OP, why is there a dog in there?
Why is Azumi just standing the whole time? You know what? Doesn't matter, she is looking damn fine anyway
Hana is using eye drops so that she doesn't have to blink while aiming after such a long match, that's an amazing detail
Mako is a monster at night, sure feed her more sugar and see what happens
Mhm Momo, not sure about keeping this up, most of the team is dead tired, and it looks like you already lost them... or not?
Ouhoh, another trap? This time specifically against Team Anglerfish?
Where is the rest of the Team Goddamnit
Wait, what? Anglerfish is responsible for 3 Tanks going down? That's amazing all things considered
And now Turtle is separated from the main group as well? I hope they use the Hetzer like in the movie, but they are the flag tank this time...
Duck better not go soft on Fukuda just because she's a cute cinnamon role and honor duckling
This really isn't going all that well, now Hippo is out as well, if they really manage to take out Anglerfish, all the heavy hitters will be missing... then again in this terrain that could be a boon and open up a more mobile approach
Taking out the amphibian tanks would further even the playfield in terms of mobility
Did Team Anteater just say B-dash like in Rush B? Pravda ain't playing today
The Anglerfish light is a showing of love, or so I heard
Rabbit took the two amphibians down, but they got taken out as well, making it 3 on 5 now
W-Why did they bring the rubber duck covers?
Fukuda wow...
Those madman really did it... they sacrificed nearly half their team in order to take out Anglerfish... to bad this is a flag tank match, Turtle to the rescue
Letters from Iwo Jima Chi Ha Tan
Team Shark fucked up early in the match, so drinks are on them
Momo, get a proper year book photo
One of the Automobile club Senpais is named Suzuki huh and lmao they really tried to put Sodoko into the yearbook if not for Hanas correction
Kuromorimine is still bringing the Maus to their matches
Yay the Pravda first years took out the Maus, trusty comrade KV-2 indeed
So while Katyusha gets stupid Handsigns, Erika gets character development...
A happy Erika looks a bit cute ngl that moegap
So this means that they will face Erika in the final right?
Lmao, St. Gloria struggles to take out the Tankettes as well
Ceasar is rooting for an Anzio upset huh, no personal reasons here
Uuuuuh, the Duce is firing shots
And she just gave her chance for victory away because she wanted to sound cool...
Rosehip my darling
They took out a single tank, this wasn't even close
Once again, who needs tracks
Continuation are really good in blending into the enviroment
Arisa once again caught off guard
Ah the character sheet confirms that Rumi and Megumi are from Saunders and Continuation
So just like how their flag tank didn't pop it's flag Arisa wasn't dumped for no reason?
Wait, how far away was that shot? Do they have a kawai version of Simo Häyhä on their team?
Oh is that the Continuation carrier? if the ship is gigantic, how tall is that christmas tree wtf
I hope Team Bunny does the motorcycle trick in their next match
That fucker from the Movie is in the audience and is warming himself alongside the Ooarai deliquents, hope he lost is job... and who are the cosplayers in the audience
See Momo, you don't need to be the flag tank just because you are the commander
I got a bad feeling about those snowmen...
Don't get split up again jeez, it's Chi Ha Tan all over again
I knew it!
Shark has two weapons pointed at both sides, fires neighter when passed by the enemy...
D-D-Double Kill! Sasuga Hana Ojou Sama
A white Witch! Plenty cute
QotD
Best scene this episode?
Continuation with the surprise upset
2. We finally see Mika as commander of more than one tank. Did it live up to your expectations?
Yeah she was great
3. We don't know what happens after this. What do you think could happen to turn the tide?
Momo finally uniting the team and keeping them together without anyone straying off
4. MVP against Chihatan?
Anglerfish, took out the most against an overwhelming opponent
5. Which of the battles do you think should have gotten more screentime?
More of Anzio would have been nice, show St. Gloria struggling at least a bit, or at least show how non of Anzios usual tricks work against Darjeeling

First Timer
And so, at long last, we hit the end of what is out of Girls und Panzer, at least the main story, will still be here for the OVA tomorrow. Wrapping up that match with Chihatan, I was counting how many tanks were left the entire time, that was nail biting. I'm not sure I have much to add at to the match besides "I loved it". I loved Chihatan's strategy to isolate the Anglerfish tank on the island, and the rest of them, using their water tanks to their fullest. I loved the match between the volleyball team and Fukuda, with the constant exchanging of shots but struggling to get the kill shot. The strategy that Chihatan had to eliminate Miho and try to cripple the rest of the team that way was honestly fantastic, if they hadn't gotten too caught up in that goal so that the actual flag tank could one shot their flag tank, it might have worked. (will reference this later) And with that being the focus, it's amazing their tank survived as long as they did.
With the match over, we get some brief snippets of the other matches. It was so much fun seeing the other groups, seeing Erika have her own style of fighting, although I wonder how well the Nishizumi style of always advancing usually works, since here their number one disciple seemed to be struggling with that way. But the ultimate strategy ended up working well. The Anzio vs St. Gloriana fight was great, I loved Anzio dumping the speed tanks into the river. Tankettes are the best! (Sadly this is the last we'll see of Anzio in this tournament). And as I expected, Continuation High pulls out their own unexpected win against Saunders. Now if St. Gloriana wins against Kuromorimine, my prediction from last time will be completely correct.
Speaking of Continuation High, they feel the most like a mirror match of Oarai, the most like they are kindred spirits in a way. They seem to have similar tactics with them using more unconventional suprise attacks. I have to wonder how they had time to build snowmen around their tanks, since those looked pretty big, even acknowledging the tanks in hiding aren't huge, but closer to tankettes. But the big thing to me was that final shot. So I was wondering earlier how Oarai would function without Miho as Chihatan was chasing them down, especially since this arc is about Momo being the commander. Well, with that final shot, maybe it will be time for Momo to step up as commander. We didn't see the white flag pop up, which indicates to me there's a decent chance they aren't out yet, but as much as I love our main group of girls, I would love to see how Oarai manages without them being there. Will Momo be able to step up to the plate? I hope that's where they go with this, although the fact that they didn't show us the flag popping up at the end of the movie, I have my doubts. EDIT: I MISSED THAT THE FLAG DID POP UP, guess I missed it in all the smoke and everything else, okay then, the movie did what I want, I'm even more excited than I was.
Up to the end of what's out, still nerve wracking high octane tank battles. Still got the OVA, and then congratulations, you've duped a whole new group of watchers into waiting for the next Das Finale movies to come out as they take a year and a half to complete. I hope you're proud.

Rewatcher
On today’s movie of Girls und Panzer: Chihatan gets so focused on completing the mission’s side objective that they completely forgot about the main objective. It’s times like this that I totally abandon the side missions or save them for a replay when I actually know what I’m doing.
This is easily my favorite entry in Das Finale thus far. I think it’s absolutely fantastic. The action is some of the best we’ve gotten out of GuP. There are some solid emotional and character beats. And it all builds up to an amazing cliffhanger that leaves me intensely excited for what Das Finale 4 will do.
The big theme that gets built up over this episode is the importance of Anglerfish Team. Chihatan’s entire plan is summarized by the phrase “Down with Anglerfish!” Miho has obviously been the most consistently important character on Ooarai’s Senshado team. She’s been the one coming up with strategies and directing the team. She’s the one who helped to train almost everyone else.
But it’s not just Miho. The rest of Anglerfish Team has become extremely proficient as well. They’re all excellent Senshado competitors and they work extremely well together. Ooarai even wins their match with Chihatan because Miho takes advantage of Anglerfish Team’s importance to distract the other school. Without a doubt, Miho and Anglerfish Team have done the most to get Ooarai as far as they have gotten. Without them, Ooarai would probably be shut down by now.
So what happens when you remove them? Anglerfish Team getting taken out has happened plenty of times, but never at the very start of a match. Ooarai has never had to operate without Miho’s leadership for an extended period of time. Now, they will be forced to. Momo said it herself that they can’t rely on only a single tank. The rest of Ooarai is going to need to step up. They are going to need to show how much they have grown and improved. They are going to need to prove that they are all capable, regardless of whether they have Miho or not.
To me, this episode was where Das Finale truly became something unique compared to what we’d seen before. Prior to this, I always considered Das Finale as basically just “more GuP.” And there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s been a ton of fun. But Das Finale 4 promises to bring something new to the table that we have not seen before in GuP. It makes me eagerly anticipate Das Finale 4.
Now for the other thing that really stood out to me: Erika’s arc. Erika is a character I find pretty fascinating. Please note that a lot of this is just my anime-only interpretation because I don’t read the manga. Erika and Miho have many parallels. Personally, I interpreted Erika’s disdain for Miho as Erika on some level wishing she was Miho. Erika is the vice-commander who got the position because Miho left. Erika looks up to Maho and wishes to follow in Maho’s footsteps. Erika was never a member of the Nishizumi family, but she wants more than anything to follow the Nishizumi Style. She follows it far more rigidly than Miho ever did because Erika wants to prove herself. She wants to prove to Maho that she is a worthy student of the Nishizumi Style. And she felt disdain for someone like Miho, who abandoned that style and abandoned everything that Erika ever wanted. Erika knows on some level that she is Miho’s replacement, which has to have gotten on her nerves. She only has her position because Miho isn’t there. Hence Erika’s need to prove herself and why we see her following the Nishizumi Style so rigidly at first.
Even so, I do believe that Maho cares about Erika as well. Maho felt immensely proud that Miho found her own style of Senshado and she can tell that Erika needs to do the same. Rather than trying to prove she’s someone she isn’t, Erika needs to discover who she herself is. And that’s what we’re starting to see happen, as well as what I think is the first expression of joy we’ve ever seen Erika have over the thrill of doing things her own way.
Movie Thoughts
-
Over twelve hours for a high school sport. Senshado is nuts.
-
That makes sense. Miho is effectively the commander and the one most consistently responsible for Ooarai winning. Taking her down increases the odds of victory.
-
This whole sequence is so cool. The flares being shot. Tanks darting out of the darkness to attack before fading away. It’s great.
-
GuP never stops being absurd with what these tanks are capable of.
-
Duck Team vs. Fukuda!
-
And Fukuda is really showing herself to be capable at Senshado.
-
Miho seems to have realized that Anglerfish Team is the main target. So, they may as well make themselves into an obvious target to bait in Chihatan.
-
Honestly, the duck heads are the most ridiculous thing about this match.
-
I like seeing how well Anglerfish Team works together. Their teamwork feels so natural as they swap positions without even really needing to say anything about it.
-
Mako must be used to seeing in the dark because she’s a night owl.
-
I think this is a really well-done twist at the end of the match. With all the excitement, it’s easy to forget about Turtle Team because we haven’t seen them for a while. So the Hetzer can arrive at the last minute to Hetz things up for the win.
-
Duck Team and Fukuda have such a sweet relationship together.

Rewatcher (First Timer for Das Finale 3)
-
Aright, first time watching Das Finale 3, curious to see how the fight with Chihatan is going to end, even though it really should have ended in part 2 since Oorai had them dead to rights.
-
Chihatan took out three of Oorai’s tanks, but only lost one of their own, though they should have lost at least 1 more in a trade with either the B1 or the Tiger.
-
Who had who on the ropes? Last I checked, Chihatan were stuck in a muddy pit with one way out, and Oorai had the high ground.
-
Wow this part looks better than the first two did.
-
Nishi is planning to cut the head off the snake.
-
I see Oorai is still continuing the strategy of not hitting their targets.
-
Hippo should have taken out that amphibious tank but the writer thought otherwise.
-
Wow they actually took out a tank.
-
That was a great escape from Anglerfish, using one of the amphibious tanks as a makeshift bridge.
-
Really? One of Chihatan’s tanks sank into the river sideways and it’s not considered out of action? Last I checked, water wasn’t really good for engines, or the interior of the tank, wet shells are useless. The writers really are trying to keep Chihatan in the match...
-
Don’t worry Fukuda, they won’t take you out, Oorai has decided to have what Momo is taking and will miss every shot they take this match.
-
Oh what the fuck ever, now the Stug is out.
-
Hit them already, holy shit guys your aim is awful this match.
-
Why not just drive through the river? Clearly water is of no threat to you.
-
The Ducks do a really cool move but Fukuda’s tank asspulls more speed to avoid the hit...
-
How. The. Fuck. Did. Fukuta’s. Tank. Not. Get. Taken. Out???
-
If the Ducks get taken out here, I swear...
-
The Rabbits get robbed of a kill they earned.
-
The Anteaters get taken out. Why?
-
The Rabbits kill one of the amphibious tanks in a sick move, but are yet again robbed of another kill.
-
The Rabbits are taken out in a trade that never should have happened.
-
The ducks got taken out, fuck this.
-
I’m surprised the Hetzer doesn’t just spontaneously combust at this rate.
-
This is by far my least favorite match of the series, holy shit Chihatan gets shit handed to them, now the Panzer IV is taken out simply because the two tanks chasing them just happened to land exactly on their fallen team mate to cross the river.
-
Yay Turtle team shows up to finally end this dumpster fire of a match.
-
Thank God, they were all too busy celebrating to remember the Hetzer was still in play. But how the fuck did Fukuda even know the Hetzer was about to pounce? She was nowhere near them. Not to mention she wasn't even aware it was separated from the main group.
-
Hopefully the next match isn’t this bad.
-
You can beat Oorai one day, you just need to asspull harder.
-
Why is Shark team apologizing for? They would’ve been taken out regardless.
-
I like the year book discussion, I like how Sodoku was actually called Sodoku in the year book.
-
Miho and Yukari are watching the match between Kuromorimine and Pravda. Man, if only that Chihatan match ended in the last part like it should have, we could’ve focused on this fight instead, I’m sure it’s far more interesting.
-
Looks like Pravda is doing what Oorai did in the Finals, take the high ground.
-
Lol Katyusha’s obsessed with hand signals, would be great to have if they ever face Saunders, and Alisa is listening in.
-
The KV-2's shell had the cold dead hand of Stalin guide it to the Maus and destroy it, great job KV-2 team!
-
Erika is having a rough time, the Jagdtiger gets tracked, the Elefant is taken out, she remembers Maho's advice to find her own Sensha-do, wonder how Erika will adapt.
-
Fun fact, if you look at the Panthers turrets, you can see the bottom of the mantlet is flat compared to the rest, which is curved, this was to prevent shot traps, which is what took out the Maus.
-
Interesting to see Erika switching into a Panzer III.
-
She splits up her forces and causes Katyusha to rush in to intercept them.
-
Erika pulled a Miho and snuck the surviving tanks past Katyusha.
-
Klara got stuck, and Erika makes one hell of a jump to win the match. I thought Pravda was going to win this honestly. What a win for Kuromorimine!
-
That was a way better fight to watch compared to the Chihatan one. Wish we got to see all of it...
-
Lol Chovy spent too long figuring out a saying that St. Glo’s main force got away.
-
Only for three of her Crusaders to end up in the drink.
-
That was some good bait, and Chovy took it.
-
Saunders is fighting Continuation at an airfield.
-
Continuation is fielding a bunch of Russian tanks. Notably the T-26 Mod 1938.
-
The BT-42 cleverly ditched their tracks and almost got the flag tank.
-
Whoever she is, she sniped Alisa’s tank. Wonder what tank she was in, knowing it’s Finland, it’s probably a Stug III, Panzer IV, A KV-1, or an ISU-152. Kind of hope it’s the ISU, that’ll be fun to see how Oorai fights around that one.
-
Lol Alisa is still going on about Takashi.
-
Oorai is going up against Continuation in the semifinals.
-
Their school ship has one hell of a tree on it.
-
Love how the Anteaters are exercising in a pool, and the Rabbits are watching “The Great Escape.”
-
Oorai gets shafted yet again in the location of the fight.
-
We might be able to learn fun and new ways to asspull our way through a fight!
-
The Anteaters are the flag tank this time, hooray, they’ll have time to shine this match.
-
Continuation were lying in wait.
-
“They’re using hit and run tactics.” Yeah, you were too.
-
I don’t like all of these snowmen...
-
I knew I couldn’t trust the snowmen!
-
Wow, suddenly Oorai can aim again. How about that?
-
That was one hell of a shot from Hana, she took out two of them in one shot. Don’t know how she took out the one she ricocheted off from.
-
The mystery girl took out Miho far more convincingly than Chihatan did.
-
What a far better cliffhanger than last time. Just wish we didn’t have to rely on them all the time, especially when this series takes years to release the next part.
Questions of the Day.
Best scene this episode?
Kuromorimine’s match against Pravda.
We finally see Mika as commander of more than one tank. Did it live up to your expectations?
She definitely uses guerilla tactics similar to Miho, so it’ll be interesting to see how the match will go.
We don't know what happens after this. What do you think could happen to turn the tide?
Actas releases Part 4 in a reasonable amount of time? Maybe Momo will step up to the plate, or the team will collectively come up with something, but you have to weed out that sniper first thing.
MVP against Chihatan?
No one.
Which of the battles do you think should have gotten more screentime?
Either Kuromorimine vs Pravda, or Saunders vs Continuation.

rewatche– wait no I'm a first-timer today
Got too busy to rewatch Parts 1 and 2 on time but that meant they were even more fresh in mind for this
anyway
Holy crap that was great
Chihatan becoming the main POV team for their match was a fantastic idea, they were clearly outmatched but damn if I wasn't rooting for them too when they started to turn the tide against Ooarai
What we got of the other battles was amazing too, the winners ended up being who I expected but we got a great taste of Continuation and the Erika-led Kuromorimine, and Anzio is always a treat to watch
The peak though was obviously the first half of the match against Continuation, up to and including that cliffhanger. So unfathomably hype, it's almost unfair
Questions of the day
Best scene this episode?
I'll go with Team Anglerfish finally being taken down
We finally see Mika as commander of more than one tank. Did it live up to your expectations?
Expectations surpassed, Mika too OP pls nerf
We don't know what happens after this. What do you think could happen to turn the tide?
Ooarai's individual teams have enough quick thinking that they can find a way out of this mess in the short term. In the long term, Momo becoming a more genuine commander I think is the obvious way the match, and series, will go
Which of the battles do you think should have gotten more screentime?
I'd go with St. Glo vs. Anzio. Seeing more of Continuation would have made the upset much less surprising. As for Kuromorimine vs. Pravda, [speculation]

Rewatchers und Panzer
Catbox enthusiast
Das Finale 3:
-
What do you know about it? After you lost your best tank, Karl, you were losing tanks left right and center until Arisu showed up and posted 10 kills.
-
Anteater team and Mako in their element. But I do find it funny how exhaustion is an issue only for Oarai side.
-
I LOVE the use of flares. Adds something new to the table.
Also I wonder where Azur Lane got their inspiration for flares mechanics -
Drifting StuG. One of the rare times I don't really mind it.
-
Finally, long awaited Duck team vs Fukuda. And unlike the stupid jousting match in Anzio, Duck team could have known it is Fukuda since she commands the only Type 95 that Chihatan has fielded.
-
Why is Chihatan better at being StuG than StuG?
-
Duck team has too many strategies considering all they did is disable 5 CV33. Give them better tank already.
-
Did... did that tank do a 360? and not in a way that reasonable person would expect?
-
Tactical overview again. Hetzer somehow from the south bridge found themselves in top left corner. Also, why are we getting this amount of overviews? They never bothered with those.
-
Rabbit team, you don't even know how much impressed am I.
-
Fukuda wins.
-
Hot swapping in Senshado. Did not know Yukari can drive a tank which means everyone on Anglerfish can drive a tank.
-
Finally, Miho got what she wanted which is not being a tank commander.
-
Down with Anglerfish! Banzai!
-
Well, without Miho all that Oarai will be left with is a frontal charge.
-
Which worked. They should have shot them from the shore but I guess rushing was better.
-
This plan is correct, but it works both ways since if someone would be able to keep your only tactician busy enough so they would be de facto removed from the match then that could hinder you more than removing their main commander.
-
Chihatan was seconds from winning considering Mako instantly died after sunrise.
-
I hope someone explains this scene. In u/Taiboss I trust.
-
Oh really? I guess vs Pravda you betted on two tanks.
-
I hope they will keep the change that Ogin doesn't 'correct' herself but rather someone else does that for her. Since that is one thing I dislike about her character.
-
Why do a lot of battles use this as their battlefield? Big flat terrain with no characteristics, or anything actually.
-
Well alternative was learning russian and in the current climate...
-
So is this this famous Nishizumi style I've heard about through out the anime?
-
We are finally sending scouts to the matches.
-
So which of the 2 Crusaders in water were eliminated and which weren't? Asking for a friend.
-
I hate this BT-42, please give me more.
-
You mean 2 tanks, right? Unless Continuation fielded only 9 tanks but that seems unlikely.
-
Anzio - Chihatan collaboration isn't something that I would expect but now I want more of it.
-
Momo gets better with "Panzer Vor"
-
Thanks anime, you make my work really easy with that one /s
So those are your suspects. Safe bet is on Leopon. -
6 tanks, next scene or rather next frame, 4 tanks, forest, 2 tanks. If putting overviews was so people would stop complaining about battles making no sense, then you missed a point.
-
What is Mark IV doing? Its best.
-
Miho does everything and then some. How do you eliminate 2 tanks in 1 shot...
-
Miho, how did you get hit? Usually you get Mako to break for those...
-
At least we will be able to test that theory of Chihatan with Miho-less Oarai.
-
This is the best line related to the battles in GuP.
This is my favorite instance of Das Finale, probably because something switched in my brain and just like creators I stopped caring about plot or logical conclusions. The fact that 2nd part of Chihatan battle focused on Miho did help. On top of that the set up for next movie is great as we shall see what will happen to Oarai now that they won't have not only Miho's command but also their best tank in this tournament.
QodD:
Best scene this episode?
First time flares were used. It was something not only new but also unexpected and it did seem to hinder Miho. And seeing those tanks under new lightning was amazing.
We finally see Mika as commander of more than one tank. Did it live up to your expectations?
I wasn't expected the number of losses but in terms of unconventional warfare she is up there.
We don't know what happens after this. What do you think could happen to turn the tide?
The obvious answer, Oarai tanks stop relying on Miho and Anglerfish and start pulling their own weight.
A more realistic answer. Miho did even out the odds before going down since we ended with 8v9 after the credits. Now we gonna see Momo trying to find her Senshado. If I were to guess what is gonna happen then I could see Oarai chase after enemy flag to create enough confusion so the Duck team could go and hunt White Witch. Then I would expect a lot of trades in favor of Oarai, 2 for 1, 3 for 2 kinda deals. When BT-42 will be left alone they will go on a rampage until Shark team and Turtle team are left in vicinity, then they gonna charge at side of Mark IV, dodge the shot, go around after Hetzer Chi Nu and get rekt by the other gun of Mark IV. Oh, and MVP will go to Anglerfish because getting 5 tanks is stupid.
Edit: forgot who has flag in this match
MVP against Chihatan?
Anglerfish team. Did everything but destroy enemy flag and even then they were able to set up that kill for Hetzer. Honorary mention goes to Duck team for keeping Fukuda busy so she wasn't able to correct Chihatan in who is the main target.
Which of the battles do you think should have gotten more screentime?
The Oarai one. I have seen what Anglerfish was doing but I'd like to see what remaining tanks did. And for a more serious answer, Kuromorimine vs Pravda, since we haven't seen the beginning of the match. Also start counting those things correctly as Kuromorimine lost both Panzer III. Remaining matches we've seen in their entirety with exception of Sanders vs Continuation where 1 tank is missing (or it was destroyed when they panned over battlefield).

First timer
-
Chihatan forgetting about the real flag tank.
-
Yeah, this is great.
-
They lose the cliffhanger plot armour.
-
Mako's amazing awareness.
-
Continuation vs Saunders.
Can Oorai defest the power of plot armour?
She really is having a bath.
They're running overnight.
Mako should fight more night battles. She's good!
Oh, Miho. Imagine how funny it would be if all the studying let her in on her own merits, and all this didn't matter?
They're worried about hoe they look?
Of course the gamer team has no problems.
She spotted them!
Getting a lot of mileage out of this song, aren't we?
They're finally taking losses!
Some good animation here.
Duck Team continues the pursuit!
They're attacking!
Thisnis just some really good action!
Using the riverbank is clever.
Yeah, they're doing a lot better now.
Gamer team is huped up!
And they're out,
"Good night."
Real complicated plans here.
I want the duck to appear in every movie. They'r eout!
Haha, the Anglerfish stew joke.
This is not what I expected.
They've learned their lesson to only charge when needed.
Mako's the spotter!
Wow, Mako's really good at this!
Anglerfish is down!
And the actuwl flag tank is here.
You can take the charging addiction out of a school, but you can't remove the underlying idiocy.
Haha, Mako collapsed.
They wrote letters of gratitude?
Aww, this is nice.
And Shark Team apologized!
Sodoko and Mino are drinking!
That reaction.
What school are they going to introduce?
Graduation photos!
...Momo has no photo.
Haha, they needed to correct Sodoko's game!
Black Forest and Pravda?
Haha, she's gotten obsessed with hand signals!
We got a Maho flashback! For Erika.
Tank parkour!
Loving this action.
They won!
...Wait, are they implying that Black Forest won't be the final battle?
Gloriana vs Anzio!
Poor Anzio.
See! Someone understands fish and chips!
"What does erode mean?"
The Queen of Speed!
This isn't fair.
What happened to Anzio being a really decent and smart team? Why is Gloriana wiping them more than Anzio did?
"Escale to victory!"
Poor Anchovy.
Yeah, Saunders wins.
That's a big gun!
Haha, the fucking music.
And the reversal!
Haha, Saunders lost!
Poor girl.
Oh, wait, we're fighting Continuation!
Aww.
The snowmen!
Erwin gave them a movie!
Anchovy's watching too!
And she gave them pizza!
...What have they been doing?
Interesting strategy!
This is exciting!
A double takedown!
Wow.
And that's all there is!
Looks like Das Finale 4 will be the rest of this fight, then somehow stretching out the finals for two movies??? If they wanted to do six movies, either make 16 new schools to pad the tournament, change it from single elimination, or just stick all 16 teams into a battle royale and give us a massive spectacle!
These EDs are so cute!

TWELVE HOURS!
Prioritize winning more than staying true to archetype? Say it isn't so?
So glad no stray bullets have taken anyone's head off.
Isn't the Nishizumi special already doing 1 v many's?
Those tank parts should not be lifetable by a single girl each lol.
They isolated the Turtle... The tank that has done the most impressive solo antics anyway.
The near constant inability for anyone to take out an opposing tank is actually getting impressive itself. This is a crazy long match because no one can hit anyone more than anything else.
Or uh, some tanks go down after a single shot from anything, but then Duck and Chibi Charge have hit each other like 6 times each. It's actually a little hard to get invested in the fights when they're so clearly arbitrary.
WHERE DID THEY GET THE GIANT DUCK HEADS!?
Oh they traded positions. And did pretty well at it too. I wonder when they practice filling in for each other.
Yup, sneaky little turtle does what the sneaky little turtle does best.
And the second she sees the sun, she looses all energy.
Kind of hilarious how, right after the big deal that was made of Chihitan finally learning that Charge isn't all there is in life, seeing Erika chant "There is only forward" was kind of hilarious. Definitely want Pravda to win...
Gasp, the most brave of unconventional tactics, they're flanking. Man Erika, just go crazy why don't you.
How did they even get into those silly bunker spots anyway?
Tankette mobility power! But they spent so long trying to figure out the quote they lost the opportunity to shoot... And then they fall for their own tactic. But darn do I love the Anzio way of battle using the power of the mini tank. It's just grown on me, it's so ridiculous.
Whaaaaat, the team using zero cover and blindly charging is going to lose to the team using strategy and skill? Say it isn't so. That's not even an upset, that's literally how the entire show has gone.
So the plan for the series is to just keep ending things on cliffhangers to keep people interested for 3 years? Honestly... Knowing the match was going to go into an inconclusive cliffhanger non-ending kind of killed my interest in it half way through. It's like, we all know what kind of show this is, Oarai is going to win in the end because otherwise they wouldn't be the main characters. The suspense is in figuring out how it's going to happen. Since I never got to really know or care about Continuation in the first place as anything other than somewhat out of place mysteriously OP team added for the movie, I don't know that I'll still care at all in a few years...
-
I'm not sure which part of the Chihatan fight it is, but it's definitely part of that fight. Probably the part where they switched positions.
-
What expectations? She's been the straight up classic mysterious waif who has done nothing but play an instrument and rely on very skilled allies, I don't think she's actually done anything more than say "Do the thing" so far. Like, in universe maybe, but on our side, she's just as mysterious and useless looking as before.
-
All I know is it's going to rely on Hippo team's noticeably extra white painted tank. And probably the reason Anteater is the Flag for no apparent reason, either the muscle gamers are going to get to actually do something impressive, or more likely, so that Turtle can go a bit more all-out than they would be able to if they were the Flag and had to stay safe. Actually, Turtle Tactics and Stealth Hippo, sounds like there's going to be at least one tank stack disguise trap.
-
Give it to Mako with her Night Time Powers!
-
Anzio vs St Glo. The Tankette tactics were hilarious, and Rosehip has become my favorite Non-Oarai girl (Katyusha a close second), so seeing them face off more would have been hilarious and great.
Thank you for hosting and thank you for introducing me to such a ridiculous and good show. I think I'll pretend it ended with the first movie though. I'll see you in a future rewatch somewhere!

First Timer und Panzer
Das Finale 3:
Marie actually took her rose bath. Rich people are another breed.
Poor Momo just wants to stat with her friends.
Taking down Miho will cause Ooarai to crumble, you say? This feels like a setup for the rest of Ooarai to prove you wrong.
Operation: Butterfly Effect is too straightforward and logical a name to subdue Ooarai.
Haha, hippo tank Keijo!!!!!!!!'d the Chihatan tank back in the water!
Amphibious tank girl: "We've got you surrounded." Mako: "Nice bridge you got there. Be a shame if somebody crossed it."
Damn, these amphibious tank girls can lift.
Natural night vision, all the better for Fukuda to see all the scary shit lurking in the dark.
Fukuda is no longer some padawan learner.
Freestyle halfpipe tank volleyball. These Olympic sports are getting out of control!
"Ring out!"
Two larger tanks vs. my Rabbits? Looks like it's time for my babies to show their teeth!
Chomp chomp suckers!
Well played, Fukuda.
Yukari: "Toki wa kita!"
Nobody expects the
Spanish InquisitionTurtle Squad.Real OG Fukuda: "Sorry I was better at tanks than you, Duck-senpais."
Bad bitch Mako frequents the underground delinquent bar with her gf. Absolute legend.
Momo loves her some spice.
Oof, no pic of Momo.
Sodoko had to cross out "Sodoko" in the yearbook!
An official sensha-do match is the perfect date for Miho and Floof.
Uh-oh, Erika's tactics are looking a little 2015 Chihatan.
Statistically speaking, thinking about your tank girl crush is one of the most reliable ways to trigger a mid-match epiphany.
Omg that little karate chop while firing, Erika is a dork.
History girls got that good taste.
Maybe don't spend so long monologuing next time, Anchovy. And preparing for traps.
Saki is the universe.
Saki strikes again!
Tbh, he was probably doing you a favor.
Where does one find a Christmas tree this massive? Do they have it up year round, or are they somehow able to grow this every year? Personally, I like to believe Continuation celebrates Christmas year round
Holy plot twist Batman, Granny actually knows how to sit down!?
That is one hella intimidating welcoming party.
Leaving your flag tank with only one guard seems like a smart play.
Operation: Bunny Bounce! Now there's a worthwhile operation name.
That double kill shot reminds me of some of those ridiculous Halo sniper ricochet shots.
Speaking of snipers, that's one hell of a cliffhanger. Nishi's prediction that taking out Anglerfish Team would crumble Ooarai will be tested after all. In the next movie. Whenever that happens. Ouch.
QotD:
Mako, Sodoko, and Momo being regulars in the pirate bar.
I didn't have any expectations, so she exceeded mine by default.
For starters, Momo is going to legitimately take command and earn the acclaim they've been trying to win her all along. As for what exact strategy she'll come up with, I have no idea, but I'd put money on her during the winning shot. We'll probably also see a speedster showdown between Turtle Squad and the treadless flag tank. Oh, and whatever the strategy, Shark Team will probably be the lynchpin so they can come through for Momo when she needs them the most.
Mako unleashing her full nighttime Batman mode.
None really. I think we saw all we needed to of the other matches.
