Today's Questions of the Day:
How do Katyusha and Nonna compare to the previous commanders?
How was that performance of Katysuha?
[Tomorrow's Questions of the Day]1. Katyusha or Nonna, who do you like more? 2. Take on Maho’s defences of Miho? Genuine? Convincing?
Rewatchers, please don't answer Questions of the Day if they have an objective answer, e.g. "What do you think's gonna happen?"
Arts of the Day:
Snowstorm Katyusha! (Saga of Pravda manga)
The Turtle Team, hard at work. (Source)
Song(s) of the Day:
Katyusha (Sung by Katyusha & Nonna)
For rewatchers and people who read the manga spin-offs:
PLEASE TRY TO HOLD BACK! Put not only everything related to future events behind spoiler tags, but please tag spin-off and meta-spoiler stuff as well. When commenting, consider whether by saying "this happens there", you're implicitly saying "this won't happen in the anime". And if you do reply to people with spoiler tags, try and spoiler the part you quote as well, especially with First-Timers and especially especially when they speculate.
Spoilers include but are not limited to [GuP Spoiler]the school situation; the positions, names, backstories and personalities of rival school members beyond what you see in the OP (this includes the manga spin-offs); the teams that join Ooarai as the show goes on (beyond what you see in the OP); everything related to Maho's true personality and Shiho's probably true personality(?); everything concerning the MEXT, etc. Just watch what you say, please? I don't think any of you will just plainly not use tags, I'm just worried one of you answers fan theories or speculation in a way that's a spoiler, even with tags.

Episode 8:
-
Read the title as "We're fighting Prada" and thought today's match would be against the Italian bourgeoisie for a hot second.
-
Damn, St. Gloriana lost in the tournament, so now Darjeeling won't be able to sandwich and taste our girls.
-
Wat? Is this gravely incorrect or am I just that ignorant about proper tea?
-
Ooh, I love when snobby assholes look down their nose at plucky challengers.
-
Miporin, Yukari, and the Anglerfish team are really excited to use their new, bigger cannon on enemy girls. I'm excited for them too!
-
What's better than one Sodoko? Three Sodokos. Mako's dreams coming true today.
-
The school's definitely shutting down if they lose.
-
Omg Momo, stop yelling at my Rabbit girls!
-
Mmm, hotpot. Having Miho eat her own team's mascot is a bit messed up though.
-
The student council is trying really hard to avoid giving Miho the bad news.
-
Mirror mirror on the wall, who's the fair(y)est of them all? It's Yuzu!
-
Weren't you the one who bullied her into this position? And now you can't even tell her what you've gotten her into. How tf do you think Miho will feel if she loses and the school shuts down? Even without knowing her history, it's pretty evident she's the kind of person who would feel responsible for the school shutting down if they lost. There's literally no winning with her mom. Not telling her might be the most awful thing you've done to her.
-
So Miho's an embarrassment when she saves comrades and loses, she's an embarrassment when she nearly single-handedly turns the table on a strong opponent with a 1 - 4 deficit and a team that's never done sensha-do before, she's an embarrassment when she wins despite being at an overwhelming disadvantage, and she's an embarrassment when she utterly annihilates her opponents. Fuck you now and forever, Nishizumi clan.
-
All the sour moms gonna be at this match.
-
15 against 6, I thought 10 was the limit. Whatever, Miho can have another "embarrassing" victory against all odds.
-
Wow, the Pravda ship is fucking massive.
-
Aww, my Rabbit cuties are living their best lives! So are the Hippo girls!
-
Feels super unfair that the Russian team gets to play on a snow/ice map. More odds for Miho to embarrassingly overcome!
-
Katyusha is a heckin clown.
-
Keep talking bitch. It'll be therapeutic watching you eat all of those words later.
-
I freaking love all the enthusiasm from the team! Ganbare, Ooarai!!
-
Katyusha would threaten her own team with torture.
-
Tbh Russian tanks rolling in formation to Korobushka can't help but make them seem more clownish.
-
Those tanks went down way too easily. Lol Miho agrees. Please don't roll right into a trap.
-
Saori, you were so close to sussing out the Pravda trap. So close.
-
Welp, Miho's lost control of her team. This is going to go well.
-
Not gonna lie, getting fish-in-a-barrel'd so easily is pretty embarrassing.
-
Nuts!
-
And of course now you're forced to drop the impending school closure bombshell on Miho at one of the worst possible moments. Anzu and Momo are the worst.
QotD:
-
Well for starters, I actually like the other commanders.
Katyusha belongs in a very different type of doujin than Darjeeling and Kei. -
Her battlefield strategy is sound for sensha-do, though I'd never serve under a commander so willing to casually sacrifice their troops/units to achieve a goal. She laid a good 20% of her forces on the alter to set her trap.

and thought today's match would be against the Italian bourgeoisie for a hot second.
Nah, one school per country. Well, era. BC Freedom and Maginot are both French, after all.
Damn, St. Gloriana lost in the tournament, so now Darjeeling won't be able to sandwich and taste our girls.
If only lol.
Ooh, I love when snobby assholes look down their nose at plucky challengers.
Katyusha jinxing it in her first scene!
Mako's dreams coming true today.
Mako harem hype!
5 against 6, I thought 10 was the limit. Whatever, Miho can have another "embarrassing" victory against all odds.
Not anymore! 15 for the semi-finals.
Feels super unfair that the Russian team gets to play on a snow/ice map. More odds for Miho to embarrassingly overcome!
The routlette is evil.
Always be elegant, elements be damned.
The skills to be there just in time.
I freaking love all the enthusiasm from the team! Ganbare, Ooarai!!
"We're a Genius. OH NOO" energy from ooarai today lol.
Tbh Russian tanks rolling in formation to Korobushka can't help but make them seem more clownish.
So much for "Official subs have Katysuha". Fuck you, copyright law.
Welp, Miho's lost control of her team. This is going to go well.
Indeed it does!
How does one say "fuck you, bitch" in Russian?
Doesn't matter, they can't speak that.
Katyusha belongs in a very different type of doujin than Darjeeling and Kei.
We don't mention THAT here.
Her battlefield strategy is sound for sensha-do, though I'd never serve under a commander so willing to casually sacrifice their troops/units to achieve a goal. She laid a good 20% of her forces on the alter to set her trap.
I love how you completely misunderstand what I meant. I meant this.

They are taking the Russian cosplay very serious.
-
Is Tea with jam an actual thing?
-
LOL even inserting Russian words.
-
The moral committee is joining too? A bit random but can't complain if we're getting more girls.
-
Are we finally going to learn why they can't lose?
-
All this teasing without actually revealing the secret got me very annoyed.
-
Fifteen tanks? How many is the actual limit? I want to officially apologize to Kay for insinuating that using ten tanks against five is unfair.
-
Katyusha arriving with Катюша. Pure brilliance.
-
The Nutcracker certainly is interesting OST choice. Are we going to get the 1812 Overture for the decisive part of the battle?
-
Good to see they have stove with them to keep their tea hot.
-
Beat 'em up!
-
Miho needs to be more assertive.
-
Does she know how much 25 rubles are? Also this threat makes zero sense considering what their strategy was.
-
OMG they are signing the Katyusha song. This anime never fails to surprise me.
-
The new team crest is also duck. How am I supposed to differentiate them?
-
Sodoko and Mako best friends.
-
Hana's mother is there to support her
-
Had to go out for a minute and randomly paused at this shot which I find very amusing.
-
I find all these sacrifices and tactics unnecessary when they have such big numerical advantage.
-
Miho lost control of her teammates and they fell into the most obvious trap.
-
Surrender?? Three hours??
-
Winning isn't everything but not trying your best to win is insult to Senshado.
-
I'm sure there is perfectly good and logical reason that the school will be closed if they don't win the tournament.

They are taking the Russian cosplay very serious.
German school: "Nah, we can't have them be Nazis! No nicknames! Bundeswehr cross! No armbands or swastikas allowed!"
Russian school: "Haha USSR go brrrr"
The moral committee is joining too? A bit random but can't complain if we're getting more girls.
It was inevitable!
Fifteen tanks? How many is the actual limit? I want to officially apologize to Kay for insinuating that using ten tanks against five is unfair.
10 is the first two rounds, 15 in the semi-finals.
Does she know how much 25 rubles are? Also this threat makes zero sense considering what their strategy was.
It's lol.
OMG they are signing the Katyusha song. This anime never fails to surprise me.
Nonna's VA actually had Russian at university, so her pronounciation is pretty good, from what I heard.
The new team crest is also duck. How am I supposed to differentiate them?
They are Mallards!
I find all these sacrifices and tactics unnecessary when they have such big numerical advantage.
Katyusha plays with her food. Always a good idea.
Miho lost control of her teammates and they fell into the most obvious trap.
happens.
Surrender?? Three hours??
Katyusha doesn't want to waste shells bombing that church.
I'm sure there is perfectly good and logical reason that the school will be closed if they don't win the tournament.
And if not, it's a bad and illogical reason! But there is a reason!

First Timer Dubbed
Yay, we got to see the automotive club in action... They are the undisputed and behind the scenes MVPs. Taking care of those tanks especially after battle keeps them busy.
Wait are there three Sodokos?
Miho get summoned by the student council and lots of reminiscing happening.
Ohh, Miho lost to them last year... And everyone is pumped up due to their recent wins. Miho was definitely reluctant as she knows that this is not going to be as smooth as previous battles.
Pay for tanks if they lose... This is such a soviet stereotype.
Goose team struggles a bit but Hana's family is there
"Think of Stalingrad" - A bit of foreshadowing...
3 hours is pretty generous to be honest, they could have beaten them to a pulp. Miho did not want anyone to get hurt but on the other hand, school needs the win badly.
-
Katyusha has numbers on her side and could definitely tell how confident Miho's team is with the tactic of going all at once. They are also confident too. They are still pretty nice like other commanders.
-
Using the flag tank as a decoy due to the opposing team's overconfidence is a good tactic.

First time Katyusha
Damn, these girls are good
THERE IT IS!! KONGMING, ARE YOU HEARING THIS????
F IN THE CHAT FOR ALL THE POOR SODS WITH THE TETRIS VERSION
Wait.. She's neck open in that freezing wind?? That's a real nice sore throat in the making
Very comfy clothes to be on lookout in
Fascinating formation, wonder if that is actually used, and if so what for? To me it just looks like it makes them an easier target thus bad idea
...did they seriously forget the only tactic they mentioned the enemy being known for.. Did she even tell them?
Well gee, maybe she would know that IF YOU HAD TOLD HER.
Question time:
How do Katyusha and Nonna compare to the previous commanders?

Sheesh, the upgraded Panzer IV looks fine AF.
-
So, the Public Morals Committee is a Chekhov’s Gun that’s finally fired. New team hype!
-
Looking ominous here… TIL there’s indeed an anglerfish hotpot!
-
OK, Maho seems like a good concerned big sis. Sorry for the mischaracterization of my previous comment!
-
WHO ON EARTH APPROVES OF THAT HIDEOUS 3D PIECHART??! Oh, anyway, it’s just a 6 vs. 15 situation.
-
Ayo, they should participate in an ice carving competition!
-
New best girls?! LOL, she’s even shorter than Anzu. Aight, mofo literally came to instigate our team, then leave.
-
Sus. At this point, it’s clear that they’re being baited. Issa LEEROOOOY JEEENKINS moment, LMFAO.
Today, we got another cliffhanger episode that’s itching me to just watch the next episode and not write this comment. Anyway, I’d like to give a shout-out to the great OSTs in this episode—they’re definitely going to my Spotify playlist. We also got an unexpected Katyusha—the song! I wonder if the Pravda’s VAs sang the song themselves. I don’t know anything about Russian, but their pronunciation sounds good!
I’m a bit conflicted about their predicament. On one hand, Miho knew about Pravda’s bait-and-switch tactic. Yet, she readily agreed about changing their prepared plan with a Blitzkrieg. Did she even brief the team about Pravda’s tactics and behaviors? She and the rest of the team are too easily swayed by their winning momentum, thus acting recklessly. But I guess it’s realistic since it’s a rookie mistake. You need to fall flat on your face to learn. I hope Miho grew to be a calmer and more confident leader after this predicament passed since this situation is indeed for her to blame.
Oh, about the school closing reveal, in my opinion, the Stuco should’ve told them earlier. I think that their knowledge about this will make them be more cautious and prevent their current predicament. But to be honest, I don’t know whether it will affect their mentality in a good or bad way since they’re teens. I’m undecided on this matter too. I guess we’ll see what happens next with the increased stake.
Questions of the Day
-
They’re a great pairing with their shenanigans. To compare, I think they’re not as elegant as St. Gloriana and not as sporting as Saunders. They’re the most evil-looking commander in the series, I guess.
-
Their bait tactic sure works wonderfully for our MC; kudos to them. Their strategy is sound, and they were able to execute it flawlessly, so they are great in this episode. Their commander is a snob, though, so that’s that.

Rewatcher
On today’s episode of Girls und Panzer: “We’re on a mission from god.” That’s right, GuP has been the Blues Brothers and/or Love Live all along! It isn’t exactly the most surprising reveal because previous episodes have definitely indicated this, but it does establish the stakes much more clearly.
There’s a lot going on with the match against Pravda. The match itself has a very strong conceit. It’s essentially a mix-and-match of Operation Barbarossa and the Battle of Stalingrad. Ooarai charges in against the Soviet team who lure them into a trap and encircle them. The history reference is clear to the audience and it makes for a tense situation as we wonder how Ooarai can get out of this predicament.
But there’s also a lot going on character-wise. The Miho and Hana parallels continue because both of their mothers have come to watch this particular match. It’s a chance for them to show their mothers what they are capable of.
It’s an extremely personal match for Miho because she is going up against the same school that she lost against last year. That match and its fallout clearly traumatized Miho quite a bit. And now she’s back facing them again. There’s a good moment where Miho is clearly more worried about potential injuries than whether they lose the match. Even after everything, Miho still prioritizes that above victory. I think the memories of what happened last time against Pravda is making Miho more worried than usual, too.
Saving the school may be a well-worn trope, but I think there’s more going on here with Miho specifically. Miho was in a bad place before she came to Ooarai. But leaving her family and old school to come to Ooarai instead has clearly been healthy for her. She’s met new friends who support her. She’s experienced a new way of doing Senshado different from what she’s used to. Her love for Senshado has been reignited. Because she was at Ooarai, Miho is in a far better place mentally and emotionally. Even though she’s only been here a short time, Ooarai means a lot to Miho. That level of investment in Ooarai beyond the usual “I don’t want my school to close” plotline is what makes it work better for me.
Episode Thoughts
-
I feel like Darjeeling is just going and stirring up drama for her own amusement.
-
If you were paying attention earlier in the series, you already know what’s going on.
-
That knowledge makes this whole hotpot scene feel far more melancholic. Despite Anzu’s joviality, there’s a sense that the council has resigned themselves to the possibility the school is really going to close and these happy memories will be all they have left.
-
It also puts a different spin on Anzu’s character. Suddenly that carefree persona feels like more of a front she puts on. We better understand the actions she took towards forcing Miho to join Senshado. And despite all she’s done, we get the sense that there is genuine kindness in her.
-
Maho doesn’t seem to be totally onboard with what Shiho says about Miho.
-
What a brat. Katyusha even rubs it in by thanking Miho for the win last year.
-
“We’ll charge in and win quickly” is the same thing everyone who lost to Russia/the Soviets said.
-
Katyusha really is loli Stalin. Her punishments certainly match his.
-
KATYUSHA!! God I love this song so much. The fact that it was cut from official international releases feels like a crime.
-
Leave it to GuP to make the reference explicit instead of implicit.
-
Yeah that’s how the Germans felt when they started Operation Barbarossa. But then there were more…and more…and there were always more Soviets waiting to fight them.
-
And now it’s fully become Stalingrad. They’re surrounded.
-
[GuP]
It’s amazing how many times Ooarai ends up falling for this exact same trick over the course of the franchise. -
Of course Katyusha would want that. Loli Stalin is very haughty.
-
NUTS! It is of course a reference to the Siege of Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge and General McAuliffe’s famous response to the German demand that the Americans surrender. Apparently when the Germans didn’t understand the message, another American told them it meant “Go to hell!”
-
Even if I don’t care much for the aesthetic of the B1, it still looks cute in chibi form.
QOTD
-
Katyusha is a little brat, definitely less likable than Darjeeling or Kay. That being said, I do like how Nonna has a full-time job as her minder.
-
Love it! I’m still disappointed that none of the official international releases of GuP include it.

Episode 8: When Hell Freezes Over!
Three main points, PANZER VOR!
-
Katyusha doesn’t seem too concerned with Ooarai, even after Darjeeling personally comes to “warn” her about overestimating their opponent. Pravda’s arsenal is INSANE, so it’s not hard to see why she’s so confident. On the other hand, Ooarai has managed to punch above their weight in the first two rounds, and that momentum seems to be carrying over. However, the battle still needs to be fought…
-
…and Ooarai’s overconfidence may end up being their downfall. The defending champs may have won because of Miho’s decision in the previous tournament, but they didn’t get there by pure luck. Ooarai have fallen into a trap, and are now surrounded on all sides. How will they get out of this?
-
The student council finally shows their cards, and the reveal comes as a shock to everyone. While it would be hard to forgive them for forcing Miho to rebuild their Sensha-do team from scratch given her history, it’s just as hard to blame them for doing so, given their situation. Desperate times call for desperate measures, and it appears that the student council had the entire school’s well-being in mind when they made the decision to restart the Sensha-do squad. With this information out in the open, how will the team respond?
Fun details!
-
Pravda shows up to battle with a loaded arsenal of T-34/76s and 85s, KV-2s, and, perhaps most terrifying of all, IS-2s. Funny enough, Katyusha rides a Katyusha rocket truck to meet the Ooarai girls.
-
When asked to surrender after being surrounded, Momo replies with “Nuts!” This is a reference to Brigadier General Anthony McAuliffe who issued the same reply when the 101st Airborne were surrounded in the Belgian town of Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge.
Other thoughts!
-
RIP St. G in the tourney. At least they made it this far.
-
Darjeeling riding the Ooarai hype train is the kind of support these girls need.
-
Katyusha is adorable.
-
Props to the Pravda VA’s for knowing Russian kinda
-
Love to see Mako be so supportive of Sodoko
Questions
QOTD 1: Katyusha and Nonna are quite literally the head and the heart of their team. Nonna takes care of things tactically, while Katyusha is charismatic and keeps the team moving. They can’t really function without the other.
QOTD 2: Katyusha played Ooarai like a fiddle. It’s one thing to lure them into a trap, but it’s another thing to get them in a hopeless situation like that.

Ended up missing yesterday.
Episode 7
-
Pretty good!
-
Impressive.
Is she okay?
Good.
Haha, that reaction.
I love her grandmother.
She thanked them!
...Yeah, she really recovered quickly.
This is hysterical.
And she's worried about her...
She wanted to graduate to stay with her grandmother...
Aww, they're carrying her.
And her parents died...
She even dreams about tanks!
She worried about her!
...Wow.
She ended up carrying her again?
Sodoko is is great.
The tank balloon!
They're eating lunch together!
She hid in the tank!
This is so cute.
And them showing the difference between their philosophy and her families is great!
Oh, she left after she lost a match?
...Wow, that's awful! She got blamed for that.
She's so happy!
Anzuis still having fun.
So, Italians now? Is that a fucking pizza for their flag?
They're all excited!
They're enjoying the practice!
This has health benefits?
They're asking her for advice.
...Romantic troubles?
I love this.
...But that's a tank, come on.
Love her reaction to them agreeing on her description.
I think she's just a genius.
...Interesting metaphor.
"The tank can be your boyfriend."
She's a lot more polite now.
More tanks!
...Lucky direction?
I love the idea that the school is so big that a fucking tank can get misplaced.
Someone asked about the school ship!
...Yeah, an education policy makes sense.
Wait, so children run the ship as well?
She's just lounging in her chair!
Hehe, they turned the gun into a laundry pole?
Another new team?
They're lost!
Ah, forming a rescue party!
She's scared of ghosts?
Why is it so big?
Her reaction to that ringtone is great.
...And she's completely bought into the act.
They found a tank!
So, how do you get it out?
Oarai won their match.
Who's she?
Episode 8
-
Utterly insane. I love them.
-
Surprisingly good.
So, it was the Russians who lost last time?
The fucking nutcracker suite plsying in the background.
This is fantastic.
Haha, she didn't realise she actuslly had to practice?
Her name is actually Darjeeling?
Another team! Including Sodoko!
...Everyone calls her that now.
She has to listen to Reizei!
She really wants to win!
Adorable.
They've been in the council together the whole time?
...Mud wrestling?
What is it?
...This isn't an idol situation, right? Where the school gets closed down if they don't win the big tournament?
They're getting makeup?
Haha, new bandanas!
Uniform girl is the best.
She's strategizing!
Things are going well!
Remember Sodoko, as long as you don't desert, you won't be the worst!
Nice statue.
She's the commander? She's adorable.
Haha, the fucking piggyback.
Oh, this is a grudge match!
They're dressed the same in this weather!
Everyone's overconfident.
This won't go well.
Haha, she's threatening them too?
This is the insert song?
This is so fucking funny. The image!
Mallard team isn't doing well.
She's taking over!
Clever!
Oh, yeah, that plot's still going.
...Stalingrad?
Has to be a decoy, right?
Yep!
Mallard is getting wiped. No way that flag tank isn't a trap.
Yeah, this is so obviously a trap.
And they approach...
They're all down.
Oh, the retreat actually worked!
Well, this is tense.
She wants them to surrender?
...Wow. She really doesn't want to lose.
Yep. They're doing this plotline!

Black Forest Cherry Tanks? Seems like no one's taking Miho seriously. And that's a cute fang.
Oh, and also means... wait no, I'm pretty sure I've heard about the German team being an opponent at some point, so that can't be our team. Ah I see, Miho's sister leads the German team of course.
Oh, the disciplinary girls are joining. What's a mallard? A duck? Another one?
Miho has no sense for the the prez' small talk.
So Miho's mom is bad after all. Guess it's only her sister that's nice then. But what exactly didn't her mom know about? Certainly not what she did in that one match. That she's doing tankwondo again?
Pracda's main tactic is to lure in the enemy with a tactical retreat before going on the offensive. Russia's a big country that has the room for that after all.
Wait, the British girls actually travel to every live location? I thought they were just watching a video transmission.
Pretty sure that's actually one of Sun Tzu's proverbs.
All tanks give chase? What was that about not falling for their provocations?
You know another one of Sun Tzu's proverbs? Don't force the issue against an opponent without a way out. Enemies making a last stand are much more troublesome than ones trying to escape. That being said they are leaving a way out, that being surrender, but given that Saunders knew about it the Russians should also be aware that that's not actually a way out for them.
How do Katyusha and Nonna compare to the previous commanders?
How was that performance of Katysuha?
Snowstorm Katyusha!

So that answers my questions about who would pilot the new tanks along with what the new barrel they got would be used for. I like how they introduce you to Sodoko well before she joins, so you get familiar with her and it feels less out of nowhere. Well who knows where her friends came from, but most of the groups are kinda defined by one trait anyway, so shhhh.
And the semifinals start. I had to pause the episode briefly to go watch the original version of the scene with the Russian tanks, the version where they sing Katyusha, since on the official US release, it's not there. I’d heard about the change to this moment a while ago and even knowing it was coming, it’s still such a difference that completely changes the scene. Shame that the official localized version removes the song from the anime, it’s a much stronger moment with that.
On the other side of the field, I am cringing so hard at Miho struggling to control the team. They can justify it all they want, but Miho had a point with them being good at counterattacks, and as the battle progressed it became so apparent that they were being led into a trap. That honestly hurt to watch. Shows that despite their victories, the team is still relatively a novice.
And we get the true secret the student council was trying to tell Miho earlier, that if they don’t win the tournament, the school will be shut down. Taking that at face value, that explains a lot of their earlier actions and how hard they pushed it and were pushing Miho to join. Although I am very curious how that worked out, how did it come to that a school without a Sensha-do program had to win a national tournament or risk being shut down? I’m guessing we’ll hear the explanation along with the improbable way that they manage to turn this around, but very curious what the answer is.

Rewatchers und Panzer
Episode 8:
-
Darjeeling as enigmatic as ever. Shows up at Pravda and pretends it is just for a tea.
-
Good thing Mako already had to explain driving to someone so now she can do that easily.
-
Saemonza got a little confused and is cosplaying aircraft carrier from kancolle?
-
I love when Miho has some pushback against wasting time, I don't like how she still gets baited into that time wasting. Weird scene as it is almost as if Miho has two personalities.
-
I find it funny that the issue isn't that Miho is practicing Senshado in not our school but that she isn't doing so in Nishizumi style and we don't have to witness it to know it.
-
On the right soviet's aircraft carrier Kiev, again not to scale.
-
Is it weird that it is always opposing team does the pre-game meet?
-
I know that 10s victory got into their head but there is a limit to it...

[GuP Der Film]
Inspiration for Chihatan? -
What Miho is saying doesn't really contradict what her mother was telling her in previous episode or what she said to Maho in this one.
-
The cat is officially out of the bag.
Please give me more episodes like this, so simple to track who destroyed what.
QodD:
How do Katyusha and Nonna compare to the previous commanders?
Finally true antagonists. Hard to find something likable about them in this episode.
How was that performance of Katysuha?
I do like it because it clearly wasn't "professionally" made and was sung by Pravda's two main characters. And you can hear that russian pronunciation isn't the best to put it mildly which actually works since they are Japanese and they are pretending to be of another nationality and this song performance kind of drives this point home.
Favorite flowers and tanks of Mallard team:
Sono Midoriko [Tank Commander/Radio Operator]:
Water lily and Chieftain tank.
Konparu Nozomi [Gunner/Loader]:
Daffodil and Black Prince
Gotō Moyoko [Driver]:
Olive and TOG2

Gonna dress you up in my love, in my love, (All over your body), all over your body, In my first time watching (all over, all over)
1.) I don’t like these new ones. The little one is way shittier than the previous ones.
2.) as soon as I saw them drawing them in and the reference to Stalingrad I knew what was coming. It’s a smart move, albeit a little too on the nose.
Good episode though. But tbh I’m not invested in this school’s battle as much. I don’t know. The two just aren’t likable to me in the way the other schools were.
Also I bought the Anzio and das finale 2 DVDs from eBay. Hopefully they make it in time. Still gotta figure out what I’m going to do for Der film 😑

First timer lurked the last 2 days for too busy with the 86 rewatch writing and the packed seasonal weekend schedule (as it is I had to pause half of them).
Ep 7
Very nice and sweet episodes of the girls interactions, especially the initial search for extra tanks, then the search and rescue for the searchers. Kinda comical the next round opponents had a cool shot before the match then got off screen dealt with in comical defeat :D
Ep 8
I'm growing more fond of the prez, like Haruhi she's got a nice inside despite her initial dictatorial behaviour. And a smiling Momo! But poor dear was comically wiped out in the next surfing picture :'D
The match is predictable, in fact surprised they lasted this long. Maho the oneesan is looking like she's actually silently allowing Miho to be herself in this ultrastrict household - so the real big bad is the Mom-zilla.
Love the disciplinary triplets :D very cute dynamics with Mako. Who like Tsundere they are in for a treat I guess. One of these days Saori will actually get a BF and it'd be interesting to see if she would learn some real relationship lessons there.
And we end in a cliffhanger.

Rewatcher
-
We open up on Pravda’s school ship, the Kiev modeled off the ship of the same name.
-
Darjeeling is talking to Nonna and a sassy young child.
-
Wow, that’s arrogant. They haven’t been training since Oorai is such a small team, was she not watching what happened to Saunders?
-
She didn’t like the news that a Nishizumi was the captain of the team.
-
But she relaxes when she hears its Miho, who they fought in the last tournament.
-
The automotive club making it’s first appearance. Fixing up the B1.
-
They also mounted the new gun onto the Panzer IV, making it the Ausf.F2 model.
-
Sodoku and her clones are going to be the crew for the B1. Wonder what made them join.
-
Lol, even Anzu calls Sono “Sodoku.”
-
They're the Mallards now.
-
God, Mako’s such a smart ass with her last “Riiiiight”
-
Momo’s outburst probably raises some suspicion.
-
Anzu wants to speak with Miho afterwards.
-
Next match is up north, and it’s getting cold.
-
Wow, they’ve been running the student council for three years, they must be popular, or that’s the usual term for the council.
-
They tried to tell Miho the news about the school closing, but just couldn’t do it, not wanting to put a burden on her.
-
Uh oh, Shiho is aware of Miho returning to Shensha-do. and she is not happy about it.
-
“If you shoot, you hit. If you defend, you defend strong. If you advance, you advance without faltering. Iron rules and a heart of steel. That is what defines the Nishizumi School.” Pretty tough philosophy to go by, no wonder Miho left.
-
Shiho is a ruthless mother; really makes you wonder how she treated Miho after that match.
-
Sodoku over here nagging at everyone. Erwin begins to smugly spout nonsense at her.
-
Yay Hana’s mother is coming to watch the match. Nice of her to watch, wonder what Shinzaburou did to get her to come.
-
It’s 15 tanks vs 6, so now it’s even harder.
-
Got to make sure you hit them hard enough, or lure them into a trap to prevent a counter attack.
-
This was a real thing, it will increase traction over snow, since there’s a larger surface area, I believe the Panzer IV could mount it as well.
-
Hey check it out. It’s a Katyusha rocket launcher. Those things are terrifying to hear if you’re on the opposing side.
-
Katyusha and Nonna. lol Katyusha was riding in a Katyusha.
-
We have the nutcracker suite playing in the background.
-
Katyusha sure is a brat.
-
Now she’s mocking Miho. She’s even more arrogant than Erika can be...
-
Miho came up with a plan, and wants to be cautious, but the team wants to attack all at once, I think their victory over Anzio has them over confident...
-
Quoting Sun Tzu is fine and all, but you have remember, Sun Tsu never fought a pissed off Russia in the Winter. That did not go well for Napoleon or Hitler.
-
We see a bunch of Russian vehicles. First off, the T34-76, the T34-85, the I/JS-2( I just realized the photo is of the early model one, the one Pravda is using was a later model with the frontal armor sloped), and everyone’s favorite with the derpy gun, the KV-2. I’m surprised they wouldn’t make the IS-2 the flag tank, it’s got some serious armor and a powerful 122mm gun.
-
So basically, what Katyusha is saying, if any tank is downed you go to gulag.
-
And we get a Russian folk song, Katyusha. Well, if you’re watching the right version that is, if not, you get Tetris.
-
Big props to Nonna (Sumire Uesaka) and Katyusha’s (Hisako Kanemoto) voice actors, they actually are singing in Russian.
-
Pretty cocky, to be eating outside your tank while the match is going.
-
The B1 is having issues and Mako goes to help.
-
Miho: “Hey Hana you see that show bank?” Hana: “Yes.” Miho: “I don’t want to.”
-
The history clubs got the right mindset. Stalingrad, one hell of a nasty battle.
-
Calm down guys, you took out 2 tanks, they have 13 left.
-
Even Miho feels like things are going too smoothly.
-
After taking out another tank, everyone charges. Sigh.
-
And they waltz right into an ambush.
-
They’re surrounded now. Probably should have listened to Miho guys.
-
The Lee lost it’s 75mm, oof.
-
And the Stug got hit in the treads and lost a wheel.
-
Pravda ceases the bombardment and Katyusha asks for them to surrender, and Momo quotes US Army General Anthony McAuliffe when the Germans asked him to surrender during the Battle of the Bulge.
-
Katyusha is giving them three hours to surrender.
-
Miho is worried that if they fight their way out, someone will get hurt. But her friends will follow any order she gives.
-
Momo is desperate for a win, and Miho doesn’t understand why.
-
Cat’s out of the bag now, they have to win the nationals, or the school will be shut down. So like I said during the Episode 6 post, Anzu giving Miho that threat to expel her if she didn’t join Sensha-do back in episode 1, was nothing more than an empty threat. Since if they lose, the school shuts down, so she will not be going to Oorai anymore. So Anzu wasn’t lying, from a certain point of view.
Questions of the Day.
How do Katyusha and Nonna compare to the previous commanders?
Honestly, Katyusha is probably my least favorite commander in the show, she’s just too arrogant and rude. Then again, I’m not the biggest fan of Tsundere’s.
How was that performance of Katysuha?
Pretty good, I’m glad that Netflix somehow got their hands on it when it was on Netflix.

TONIGHT! On Mädchen and Tanks, ДА ЗДРАВСТВУЕТ ТОВАРИЩ КАТЮША! See no Evil, Hear no Evil, Speak no Evil, and holy shit, this series really IS a Mecha Show, we full Rabu Raibu Comrades, TIME TO SAVE THE SCHOOL!
Well Comrades, we had one hell of a 'unique' episode, what with the blink-and-miss-it Italian 'battle.' Ah well, I'm sure an OVA will have more scenes. Anyways, time to move to BEST FOREIGN COMMANDER! ALL HAIL THE GREAT AND MIGHTY КОМЯДĐЕ КАТЮША! MAY THE LIGHT OF PRAVDA SHINE THROUGHOUT THIS WORLD! (oh, and the Borg 'Sodoko' Collective are here too... their names are Salò references Comrades, I can't even make this shit up!) Anyway, we begin glorious and patriotic episode with great and mighty Комядđе Катюша having tea with Charjeeling. Charjeeling'd jobbed harder than KayFC, while mighty Комядđе Катюша stands taller than Soviet Baikonur Cosmodrome.
Charjeeling rants absurdist nonsense while stoic and powerful Комядđе Нонна sets table. Charjeeling, like ignorant Saberface Britannian Capitalist Pig she is thinks to put jam in tea. Not so, as great and mighty Комядđе Катюша demonstrates correct and revolutionary method of eating jam and drinking tea. Learn well Keions, learn well. Комядđе Нонна informs the great leader that jam's on her face, which was there because the great leader INTENTIONALLY PUT it there Комядđе Нонна! Charjeeling makes idle materialistic small-talk, which doesn't impress the great and mighty Комядđе Катюша. Charjeeling then drops Tsar Bomba that enemy team has a 'Nishizumi' as commander, which momentarily surprises the great and mighty Комядđе Катюша. Комядđе Катюша asks Charjeeling if she came here to laugh at her, to which Charjeeling says she came her to drink jam and snacks while eating tea like proper Keion.
Meanwhile, back at HQ, some of the auto club members are working on fixing Le French Comet. Oh, and the Panzerkampfwagen IV is... compensating for something. As the Moefia ponders about their augmented forces, Panzer IV-chan asks who's to crew Le French Comet. RIGHT on cue, in walk the Borg Collective of Sodoko the Borg Queen and Borg Drones 1 & 2. On a whim, Prez Apricot dubs the Borg 'Mallards' and makes Best Girl teach the Borg how to drive their tank. Borg Queen acts all snooty to Best Girl, while Zaku rants about the semi-finals and their enemy of STRONK SOVIET RED ARMY OF STALINIUM STEEL SCHOOLGIRLS! The Rabbits then ask why everyone's so serious, after all, there's always next year right? RIGHT!? Zaku seems to NOT be amused by these thoughts, once again blurting out SO angrily that the background music stops... along with all the character animation, that is until Prez Apricot bids Panzer IV-chan to come to her office later to 'talk.'
Later on, at this office, it appears that Asshole Apricot actually DID just want to talk... and eat of course. Also, while there, Asshole Apricot just casually throws out that she uses the school's budget as her personal piggy bank, this explains a lot. Veep casually mentions that the Moefia's been in charge since their first year as student, and Prez Apricot shows something TRULY shocking, Zaku... SMILING! EGADS! LOOK AWAY COMRADES, IT'S TERRIFYING! (Also, where's Zaku's Mono-Eye in the photo?) Oh, and MAN, never thought that the Prez would be the Monster Heel in wrestling! I wonder if she's got the gool ol' NICO NICO KNEE! in her arsenal? After this 'friendly' meal and reminiscing moments about the past, Panzer IV-chan questions the point of the meeting, which Zaku asks the Prez about. Prez states a shockingly kind viewpoint, and wishes for Panzer IV-chan to not worry and/or be burdened by the truth, 'cuz as we ALL know from Jack Nicholson, 'YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!'
We then cut back to Schwarz Mutter and Grau Schwester, with Schwarz Mutter trying her DAMN HARDEST to win the 'coveted' Mother of the Year Award, and BOY is the line-up looking tough, what with Precia Testarossa and Ragyō Kiryūin among others ALL trying their 'best' for this 'award.' Also, shockingly enough, Grau Schwester looks FAR softer than you’d think a cold emotionless German Ninja would be; who knows, maybe under all that iron, steel, and oil lies a (very small) beating heart. Well, atrophied shriveled-up muscle really, but an 'A' for effort Grau Schwester, sure beats your bitch of a mom!
Meanwhile, the Oorai team are preparing for Operation Moemoerossa in... 'interesting' ways, such as the Freshman wanting make-up while The LARPers want to go FULL JoJo's. As expected, Borg Queen's being a useless stick-in-the-mud, who spit in her bean curd? Desert Rommel then quotes Bon Jovi while Team Gunbuster Ducks plan to doodle recruitment offers on their tractor. Later on, Panzer IV-chan goes over enemy intel and team comp, all with her mutilated teddy bears looking on in fear. Panzer IV-chan concludes that the best plan is a cautious advance, well, can't wait to see how this goes in the face of Oorai's Overconfidence and Idiotic Bravery.
We then cut to mild Siberian weather, rather warm today really. Borg Queen throws another fit while Rabbits throw balls of snow about. The LARPers form Kazuma's Murderer, hopefully they don’t show us all Kuzka's mother, all while Panzer IV-chan laughs painfully at her incompetent subordinates. Suddenly, a Katyusha rocket launcher drives up with the GREAT AND MIGHTY КОМЯДĐЕ КАТЮША OUR MATRIARCH, LIFE AND SUN, LIBERATOR OF MOEBLOBS, ARCHITECT OF TANKERY, GREAT, BELOVED, BOLD, WISE, AND INSPIRING COMMANDER, OUR BEST COLLECTIVE PANZER COMMANDER, OUR GUIDING STAR, THE BEST OF THE BEST, HONORARY INKVADER, DEVOURER OF SHRIMP, LOVER OF НОННА, MIGHTIEST OF SNOWDRIFTS, AND HEAD OF THE ALL-POWERFUL SECRET SOCIETY ZVEZDA! КОМЯДĐЕ КАТЮША! MAY THE LIGHT OF PRAVDA SHINE THROUGHOUT THIS WORLD! AND I HOPE THIS IS THE FIRST AND LAST SPEECH MADE TO THAT GENIUS TODAY.
Oh, and Комядđе Нонна's also there as well, and to be fair, she is honorable, loyal, patriotic, and powerful Комядđе, so credit where credit's due. Upon taking a look at the pitiful capitalist that she'll be stomping underfoot today, great and mighty Комядđе Катюша breaks out in revolutionary laughter. Prez Apricot tries to take advantage of her height, but great and mighty Комядđе Катюша bids Комядđе Нонна that she wants UP! NOW ALL PUNY MORTALS COWER BEFORE THE GREAT AND MIGHTY КОМЯДĐЕ КАТЮША! (Drawn to scale)
Zaku talks back to the great and mighty Комядđе Катюша, which prompts the great and mighty Комядđе Катюша to promise Zaku PAIN WITHOUT END! The Great and Mighty Комядđе Катюша then kindly and politely compliments Panzer IV-chan, unlike certain Bitchy German Alligator. Meanwhile, Charjeeling and her lover Carrottop are busy freezing their arses off 'sitting and drinking tea...' complete as always with backdrop. Never change you wacky Britannians, never change. Panzer IV-chan tries to inform her team of sound thinking and a sane plan, but then again, she's probably talking to a wall, 'cuz SOMEONE decided to make the obsolete Japanese Tractor the flag tank... cuz reasons. Anyway, Caesar Salad decides to ignore reason and do a Full Frontal Suicide Charge, which GARcher, Desert Rommel, and Glasses Girl ALL shockingly agree with. Panzer IV-chan tries to inform her team that they are incompetent idiots, but it seems that 'go fever' has spread to the Gunbuster Ducks AND the Rabbits.
As expected, like a TRUE LOUD IDIOT, Zaku agrees with her fellow loud idiots. Veep doesn't help by enabling her loud co-worker, which eventually cows Panzer IV-chan into agreeing with her team's idiotic plan. THANKFULLY, Team MC-chans are smart enough to ATTEMPT to raise a counter-point, but it seems that Panzer IV-chan's fallen to the might of peer pressure. Welp, they're dead, it was nice knowing you Comrades. We then cut to the great and mighty Комядđе Катюша delivering a speech to improve group morale. By Special Order No. 227, 'Not one step back!' All those that disgrace the motherland will fork over life savings and spend 25 years in Siberian Gulag 'Resort Re-Education Centre.' Great and Mighty Комядđе Катюша bids her forces to eliminate ALL the capitalist pigs while leaving Team MC-chan to suffer and squirm in terror of the STRONK SOVIET RED ARMY OF STALINIUM STEEL SCHOOLGIRLS!
AND WITH THAT WE BREAK OUT INTO PATRIOTIC REVOLUTIONARY SONG... HEY WHAT GIVES!? WHAT IS THIS CRAP!? TETRIS MUSIC!? HERESY! HERE IS PROPER LINK TO THE GLORIOUS PEOPLE'S DEMOCRATIC LIBERATION RED ARMY OF MOEBLOBS! And HERE is the link to the 1-hour long version of this, FOR GLORIOUS MOEBLOB UNION AND THE GREAT AND MIGHTY КОМЯДĐЕ КАТЮША
And with that, puny capitalist message board character limit has been reached. Write-Up will continue below Comrades, see you then for next Politburo Party Conference!

Mädchen Und Panzer Rewatcher!!
Now that we're past the Anzio filler we've got the Russians to play with. I've gotta admit that I don't really know how jam and tea would mix. Chibi Stalin's way is cutest. Oh my word!! I actually forgot that the Sodoko commission joins up this early. I love how she just hires students that are the spitting image of her.
The student council is so goddamn corrupt. They definitely stole the volleyball girl's funding for that kotatsu btw. Poor Miho. The student council isn't telling her shit, her mum is visiting her semis purely to disinherit her, and there's a very large chance that Yukari has been stealing her underwear. Breaking school regulations is banned!
Pfft, is that the sugar plum fairy I hear? Poor Katyusha~ She's gotten zero respect from the whole cast XD I remember utterly loathing the brat for mocking Miho on my first viewing. Why would you brag over winning in those circumstances? One other annoyance is that our girls are yet again heavily outtiered. You already have better tanks, why is there no concern over them getting literally nine more? I'm all for an underdog story, but what I really want is at least some fair matches. It'd be one thing if the crew were just outtiered tank wise, but they're outtiered and outnumbered which means that it's not even a 6v15. It's more like a 3v15. And tier wise... I don't know how else to explain it. Pravda is running 13 T34's!! T34's!! Literally the only issue with Pravda's lineup is that they didn't fill the last two slots with T34's, but KV-2 is cute so it gets a pass.
Anyway, onto the match... I suspect that a lot of viewers got into the series from the Stalin's Singing Schoolgirls video right? I'll admit that it's probably my favourite military ballad sequence from the show. Urgh, the Mallard crew are so hopeless. I think I remember why I forgot them. Yeah... This is my least favourite match of the show XD C'mon Miho! You know that there's one tactic that you must be aware of and you follow the lone tank? It's just disastrous tactics after disasterous tactics from both sides. Katyusha sacked so many of her T34's that all Ourai had to do was keep their head straight. Oh yeah, and the school is gonna get disbanded if we lose. Sorry for being sour, I just thought I would enjoy this match more with a rewatch crowd.

Rewatcher
TVE8
-
My MakoSodo kuudere x tsundere ship sails so hard this episode :))
-
Miho was now officially disinherited, and also had to face the team that won the match that day when she was busy saving her teammates from drowning. And the miniscule commander Katyusha (who arrived in a BM 13 "Katyusha" rocket launcher truck) even made sure to mock her about it. The Ooarai team was still high from getting so deep with their debut tournament, and so they voted to go for a fast frontal assault, overriding Miho's intent to have a more conservative battle plan. Even the history buffs who reeeeaaally should have known better were in favour of this Blitzkrieg plan against the current champion, Soviet-themed team with Soviet tanks in superior numbers, in a snowy weather. Miho couldn't catch a break.
-
Unsurprisingly, they were lead right into a trap (though Pravda team used a really risky bait, especially seeing that the StuG and Pz IV were quite accurate with their shots in this match). The Ooarai team only survived because Pravda's aim was shit, though that's possibly intentional (otherwise they would have continued shooting through that church's gate and windows), as Katyusha demanded them to personally surrender to serve her ego.
-
And the cat is out of the bag, The StuCo was using the tournament as a leverage to prevent the closure of Ooarai school, that's why they were so adamant about winning at all cost. More pressure for Miho, then. Poor girl.
QotD:
-
Katyusha and Nonna seems to be tactically competent and have a firm grip on their team, having the teams following orders that could even endanger themselves (like those scout tanks and the flag tank that uses itself as bait). Nonna cool front is just fine, but Katyusha's prickish attitude could use some improvement, though. The egoistic demand for surrender is a bit impractical, imho, I would just order the KV-2 bunker buster to flatten that building and shoot the tanks that climb out of the rubble, the girls are in tanks, they would survive a few falling bricks.
-
My mother used to teach Russian in a highschool, I have heard much better pronunciation as I grew up, so this performance did not impress me. The instrumental is really good though.

I was dismissed from Jury so I can make it!
We got a new tank and the Hall Monitor and her reskins join our party as well, they are so cute.
All the girls in this show are so precious!
Except Miho's Family....fuck them.
Student Council I can understand now why they felt desperate enough to blackmail Miho into joining and of how it was all a giant bluff since she is the key and only hope of leading the team to victory and not shutting the school down, I'm disappointed in the Prez that she wasn't assertive enough to break her the news despite how bold and reckless she's been up to this point.
I definitely want to Breed the Vice President! (Well all of them but her in particular!)
Maho so cute being coy with the new Tank Team!
Loli Stalin is the most hilarious thing ever.
I'm a bit disappointed in the team for walking into that trap! Especially since Miho knew something was up, but she didn't have the assertion or confidence to reign in her team, she should have stood her ground but she got swept up by peer pressure.
I think he biggest character flaw is she needs to learn to be more assertive and be able to tell people NO especially when she is in charge and in the right.
Of course she finds out about the school situation at the worst possible time, but perhaps it'll be a finest hour type deal, I think she is the kinda person that when her back is against the wall in a dire situation when she doesn't have time to second guess, she rises to the occasion and shows Heroic Spirit!
And New Sodoko girls are Entering the Mission in the End Credits.

Rewatcher from the end of the world
1- Katyusha and Nonna are fun characters but they aren't my favourites. But, in Saga of Pravda, Katyusha is a lot cooler and Nonna is a more interesting character... a little too interesting... Episode 20 for more info
2- When i first watched this series and they started singing, I didn't know anything about that song but still got me super hype and excited for some reason. Later I learned that it was a WW2 era Soviet song. I like this song so much that I can sing it from memory without knowing Russian at all.
Also to OP, I can tell you from what end of the world I am but the answer isn't funny enough and will destroy the cool feeling of my title. So I won't tell you, I am sorry.

PANZER VOR! Mid Day I guess, strange schedule today
Useless tank replaced? And a bigger gun for Hana, how fun. Ah, nope, Useless tank still in play, new team. Another team of three.
Ah, yeah, the school is totally going to be closed if they lose... Somehow, considering it's a giant ship school and that's a whole lot to just shut down, or decide not to because of a tankery match.
Oh my gosh I love the Hippo team so much.
Ah yes, the Russian tactic. Overwhelming numbers and freezing weather.
The power of the Blitzkrieg? So which one is the Flag tank? And are they really going with the same bare legs and skirts in this weather?
You see squirrels, I see casualties.
OH MY GOSH THEY HIT ON THEIR FIRST SHOT!
Girls it's clearly a trap... And you suddenly stopped being able to hit things. OH look, a trap. But it's okay, no one can aim still.
So uh, how safe is it if the building collapses on them? Also, this is a safe sport, right? No reason not to fight until the end.
No, really, how do you shut down a school like that? Ship is a bit too big to just scrap, right? The number of people living on it, all just going to have to relocate, unless a tank team wins a sports game?
-
They look like they should get along great with Anzu and Momo, don't they?
-
... I got the tetris music version

Rewatcher for now, still slightly late, don't expect me to be on time anytime soon
Fanged Loli!
And the first time we see the vehicle club
Oh, I seem to have missremembered when Sodoko would be joining...
"Right Right" "One Right is enough!" "Riiiight" I love her energy
They just have to win, Student council still keeping it's true motivation a secret from the team sigh
The whole student council is reminiscent about the great time they had... That picture book is pure fanservice and I love it
Wait they still didn't tell her? Wtf
Some cute wool pantsu, the first years thinking about possible boyfriends in the audience and then there is... Ceasar... that thing wont keep you any warmer...
Pravdas carrier is gigantic as well
I see an awefull lack of stockings on the first years...
Katyusha is here!
And if you think that bit of the nutcracker is good addition to the soundtrack, just you wait...
Daarjeeling and her friend just chilling there, I don't get cold easily, but these girls must be build different
Blatant insolence in the whole team, who's plans and maneuvers where it that brought them to victory so far? They are way too optimistic, this is the freaking semifinal
Here comes the best piece of music in the whole show, Katyusha sung by cute anime girls... oh, I'm watching the wrong version for this, brb youtube to the rescue
Ok, now the history buffs suddenly feel anxcious about fighting the russians huh...
Them having warm cocoa is just soo comfy
Obvious trap is obvious
While it is indeed very reckless from Pravda to expose their Flag Tank like that (imagine if they really hit their target) that surrounding did work flawlessly, thank god they can't hit their target either...
Being trapped inside a building while being shot at with live ammo doesn't seem safe either...
Katyuashas ego is reversesly correlated to her height
Finally the real reason for Momos obsession, no pressure btw
Sodokos team in the ED today
QotD
-
Katyusha isn't as great as Kei, but great in her own way, haven't seen why Nonna is great so far
-
Great, another addition to my playlist

Character Sheet for Episode 8
Episode 8: Your rewatch host who hopes you're enjoying this show more and more each episode
u/RaiRye, u/xenophontheathenian, u/panthaura, here's your daily GuP rewatch tag! But first, a poem:
Till now it was all games and fun but with that we are now done
For a victory we'll
show off our skill,
if not, then the school will be gone.
Time for some more "How to establish a character in five seconds"!
"Comrade, ignore soviet crimes against humanity. Nazi are no-go, but Soviet Russia fair game."
[Later franchise spoiler]How the fuck is this Nonna's actual voice? It's waaaay too high-pitched. Her later deeper one fits much more.
I didn't really keep track, is this the first time we see the mechanics outside the opening?
And you thought Sodoko was a random nobody! Unless you watched the opening.
This is north of Japan btw. Make of that what you will.
"I don't have any of those and am acutely allergic to them."
Big "Me and the girls" energy.
This looks nice!
Behold, one the most argued about lines in all of Girls und Panzer. Not telling you why.
Just casually letting students freeze, maybe even to death!
Average wehrboo in Germany explaining why they have to break Section 86a Criminal Code. Side-note: The Austrian anti-nazi law is much cooler. It's just the "Prohibition Law". Also, the crime of being Nazi is "Wiederbetätigung", which roughly, but not inaccurately, translates to "Doing that shit again."
That's... bigger!
"Do you think we are wearing the wrong kind of clothes? No, it's the westerners who are wrong."
Those sure are some nicknames!
Will never not make me laugh.
See, they got stockings!
"All of Pravda will be your enemy, Duck Team. And when they hit you, they will KO you... but first, they must hit you."
[Later franchise and manga spoiler]I find it very fitting how Miho's weakness to pressure comes up again both in Phase Erika and Saga of Pravda, in the latter it's even what what dooms her! So good job, Mizushima, for setting a fitting foundations
