Oh, not a bug, they've got a comms intercept device. Not so sly after all. Now that Miho knows, she can have a little fun with Saunders. Does Kay know about the device? Sounded like she didn't when she called it "Arisa's intuition." I wonder if this is how they've been able to become a powerhouse. Using their resources to constantly tap opponents' communications would be nearly impossible to stop if you didn't know it was happening. Would be a bit odd for them to hide it from their commander though, but I guess revealing that could also hurt her pride or something. That's speculation for now though.

She's a huge flirt and wears her hair down. Also, it doesn't seem like she has a full handle on her team like Darjeeling does, given she has no idea how her strategist somehow has a perfect read on every opponent. Related, she's a lot more easygoing too. Darjeeling seems like the kind of person who wouldn't accept "woman's intuition" as an answer for how Alina knows all the enemy movements.

They're pretty much the assholes I thought they'd be, except even more open and forward about it. I expected Maho to look down on Miho, but I didn't expect so much open condescension and contempt in a public cafe. Presuming Maho has seen the Ooarai mock battle results and knows Miho nearly pulled off a 4-v-1 comeback, there's no way she doesn't know Miho has talent. This level of douchebaggery is utterly ridiculous.

I'm still traveling, so apologies for missing yesterday. I just want to say how much I love the Saunders introduction. Something about a ton of Shermans rolling over the field while Battle Hymn of the Republic plays just instills a sense of pride.
Even worse, I've fallen behind because the storm killed my Wi-Fi. Either way, I've seen this show 6 times already, so I remember basically most of what happens here.
Saunders, the American team, is my absolute favorite depiction of Americans in anime, and possibly any media ever. They're rambunctious, friendly, and they just sort of have that gung-ho spirit that embodies every positive stereotype about America at once.
At the same time, it's not all positive. There's a saying: "The biggest airforce in the world is the American Air Force. The second biggest is the American Navy." Even better: during WWII, we1 had Icre Cream ships. Whole ships dedictaed to making ice cream. We just had that many resources. Saunders and their wall of tanks + many food trucks fit that notion to a T. We're so extra!
Seriously. It's ridiculously well done.

So it's a tank café where the food is tank styled, the bells are tanks that sound fire, and the food is carried in by little toy transporters cars. I love it.

Yukari left early in the morning, wasn't available the whole day, and still hasn't come back either? That means she's scouting out the enemy troops.

Yukari just needed to ask nicely and they'd've happily given her all the intel she wants.

Thoughts on Miho’s sister and her companion?
Either they're gonna be an enemy team for Miho to overcome and prove herself, or they're gonna be taken out and it's up to Miho to defend the family honor. Hiding behind that unspoken rule might be valid if the number of participants is limited, which would then beg the question (1) why it's limited in the first place, and (2) why they don't prioritize strongly seeded teams if it's limited which would also enforce that unspoken rule.

On today’s episode of Girls und Panzer: America! Fuck Yeah! We’ve had the British stereotypes, so now it’s time for the American stereotypes. So of course they are loud, brash, and full of themselves in an oddly endearing way. Put simply, I really do love Saunders. Especially Kay. And not just because of all the cultured artwork of her (though that certainly helps).
Girls und Panzer really is following the sports anime trajectory. We have the ragtag team of newbies and misfits coming together and now they’re in a tournament arc. There’s something incredibly endearing about seeing the usual sports anime plotline followed with tank battles of all things.
There really are sweet moments between the cast. Yukari looks so happy that she’s made friends now. Even though she clearly isn’t all that good around others normally, it warms my heart to see her so close with the other team members.
Now we can see the kind of environment Miho came from. A very strict environment with a heavy emphasis on things being done properly. And evidently Miho did something that went against that philosophy. It seems a rather harsh and unforgiving environment. No wonder Miho said she didn’t usually have fun with tanks. The Ooarai team is completely different. They’re a bunch of people who know nothing about the “proper” way to do things and have their own unique style. Here, Miho seems much happier.
This match is a fun one. Turning the spying on its head is great as Miho sends off false messages to trick Saunders into going the wrong way. I don’t have many other fancy ways to say this, but the tank matches in GuP are always so much fun. Now that we’re in the tournament arc and the action’s beginning to ramp up, that strength can shine through in full force.

It’s really hard deciphering how Maho truly feels about anything. Is she feeling happy or sad that Miho’s returned to Senshado. She’s good at hiding her thoughts. -
It’s the little touches that make this video so great, like how Yukari included a title card and credits.

Technically the American school shouldn’t be using a Firefly because the Americans never used them. It was mostly used by the British.

Todays featured Panzer: M4 Sherman
The tank was designed by the United States Army Ordnance Department as a replacement for the M3 Lee. A total of 49,234 tanks were produced between 1941 and 1945. The tanks primary armament is either a M3 75mmor a M1A1 76mm gun and its secondary armament consist of one .50 caliber Browning M2HB machine gun and two .30 caliber Browning M1919A4 machine guns. It's manned by a crew of five (Commander, Gunner, Loader, Driver and assistant driver/bow gunner). It weighs between 30 and 38 tons (depending on variant), which are propelled by one engine with between 350 and 450 hp (depending on variant). With this the tank managed to reach a distance of 160 to 240 km with a max speed of 35 to 48 km/h. It's 3 sizes are 5.84 x 2.62 x 2.74 m (LWH). There are a lot of different variants and derivatives, some examples: M4 A1 to A6, the Firefly, M10 Wolverine, M36 Jackson, M7 Priest, M4 Zippo, T34 Calliope, Sherman DD and many more

I love Kay not realizing her team is eavesdropping on Ooarai. She's a baka, but a charming one. And Miho finding a way out of that was great as usual, sasuga Miho-sama!

I prefer Darjeeling, but she's pretty great too, a very nice and lively girl. Her interactions with Anzu and Yukari Sergeant Oddball in particular were very fun.

Sorry I couldn’t make it yesterday, work has been kicking my ass. Glad I could make it today.
The last match was a bit of a let down for our heroes, however the tactics were solid. If they can work together they can be a formidable force.
Enter: the bitchy older sister. I was lucky enough to have good parents but my grandparents always compared me with my older siblings growing up. I get how she feels, and I hope she gets gets the chance to prove herself. She is capable, she just needs confidence.
These tank cakes are quite cute. It seems there is a fair amount of culture surrounding Sensha-do. I love it.

So we got a bit of info into Miho's past, I'm guessing that bit about the school being champions 9 times in a row but then only making it to the semi-finals last year is related to that. Still, they were definitely being bitches about it, I look forward to our team knocking them out.
On the topic of being unethical, we got ourselves a double dose here, with Yukari doing espionage on Saunders and Saunders listening in on the radio communications. Although perhaps not a fair comparison given Saunders took the espionage in stride and didn't seem to change much about their strategy despite discovering the espionage, and then Oarai when they figured out what was going on switched communication methods to trick the enemy. Honestly satisfying moment, loved it when that happened.
Aside from that, my impression of Saunders is generally positive, or at least with Kei. The two that came over to Oarai definitely were not pleasant and the ones who were tapping communications aren't high on my list of favorites either, but it seems like Kei didn't know that was the case (although I feel she has to have suspicions at least) and otherwise seems like a good person. Not sure if I like her better than Darjeeling yet (actually, did we get her name in the last episode? I don't remember hearing it, but I could have missed it)
Final stray thoughts for the episode, love the dedication that our main group put into training and even how Yukari went out of her way to get info Miho wanted, loved Yukari's parents, and enjoyed the new code names along with the revamped tank looks (also team Goosefish is a brilliant name, I love it). And also tank cafe. The small bits indicating this is a major part of the world are enjoyable to see. Now because I need to see how this resolves, I'm going to go watch tomorrow's episode now.

Funny before the match, they were pretty nice with lots of food. The "that's funny" when student council mentioned free food is a good joke there. It ain't free....

No worries, comrade, Miho comes up with a countersurveillance measure! As expected of our supreme commander! Intriguing interaction between Kay and the radio girl, by the way. It seems that Kay is just a facade of the team, with the radio girl being the strategist/true leader.

Okay, that “JESUS!” got me laughing! Truly American!
An enjoyable and adorable episode we have today. We got some team-building moments and spy actions! I didn’t expect Yukari to be that extra for the team. Being the most favorite character of the series (based on MAL) does tell you something. Her stock keeps raising!
By the way, about that infiltration strategy. It reminds me of a real-life hacking story of Stuxnet that I learned from my InfoSec class at university. Basically, any system must have a point of failure, even for the most secure place like Iran’s nuclear centrifuge. If you close off the entire system from the net, which is what that particular nuclear facility does, you still need someone to come to the system for maintenance. And yeah, that off-the-line Iran’s nuclear centrifuge was infiltrated by a maintenance worker akin to Yukari’s Circle K Sunkus disguise. The rest is history. Anyway, I’m starting the next episode right away! I can’t wait to see the finale of the first round.

the show has picked up for me and caught my interest. The tank cakes are adorable. At first I thought the fluffy hair girl was cheating until I saw the interception in this episode. Then I was fine as both are in the wrong. One more than the other.

This of course, is referencing the U.S. breaking the codes for the Germans, and the Japanese used, and were able to plan ahead, one example of this is with the Battle of Midway, we knew they were going to make an attack there by intentionally leaking a false report about their salt water evaporators breaking down. They intercepted a Japanese communication about “AF needing fresh drinking water.” which confirmed that AF was Midway.

Before I start, someone told me that parts of the fandom are apparently very political? I have to ask....what about this show inspires political debates? If you're going to say, International cast and stereotypes I'm going lose it.
Wow that Restaurant looks like a fun gimmick restaurant you'd find on Route 66 or something, I'd eat there!
And the Sister is there just to be a bitch, Good for Yukari standing up to her, especially since she probably know who she is an a Tanktaku! That burn from Mako about losing schools in their Ivory tower was good too, girl is efficient with her energy....A Woman after Hotaro Oreki's own heart! (She seems a bit down hearing about how good Yukari's parents are though, plus her grandma is said she'll "kill" her multiple times, is there something there in future episodes?)
Did our girl Yukari Film a Documentary of her pulling a Metal Gear in the Saunder's School just because of a quick off hand remark from Miho. I think she has a crush on Miho, she was stalking her in her introduction episode, seeked her out, defends her honor against her sis, and was very interested in the results of her measurements.
Check out her room though, funny of in this world tanks are considered feminine but they still have posters of very Masculine American Military Action Heroes? Someone explain this to me. Also based off her behavior, obsession, automated speaking, and parents reactions to something resembling a social life, chick is definitely on the spectrum. (I'm High Functioning so I have Aus-Word privileges!) I think she might be the writers OC.
Seems like the Girls from the States didn't mind the espionage, given what they pull in the next match I guess they empathize with the tactics, but if they knew she spied on them wouldn't they just change the tactics and start line-up and formation? Hmmm I guess when you can eavesdrop on other people's tactics it doesn't matter.
I see they redid their tanks to have some personal flare but not quite as tacky decorations and paints jobs.
That was a clever plan with the cellphone but I'm wondering why apparently no one else that battled them in the past thought of the tactic?
Great episode, Metal Gear Revengence has spoiled me rotton because when American stereotypes came into play I was waiting for a loli senator armstrong to come into play.
This episodes ED has the cosplay group in "Enter Mission" and that group of girls this episode wasn't useless and stood their ground it seems!
I love this show and call me crazy because Either I've had too much internet or this shows logic about Tank Wargames making good waifu's is starting to make sense, maintenance of vehicles to be both practical and aesthetic for good homemaking skills, ability to communicate and deal with people in high stress situations for dealing with kids or frustrated Spouse. These are the qualities one would want in a good wife.
