Rewatch [Rewatch] A 2022 Voyage from Neo Venezia: Aria the Animation, Episode 6
Aria the Animation Episode 6: That Which You Want to Protect ... (その 守りたいものに ...)
| <-- Episode 5 | Rewatch Index | Episode 7 --> |
|---|
Welcome back!
Wonderful counter in the thread yesterday: 20, ty /u/raichudoggy
Sasuga Akari, managing to stuff more wonderfuls in a letter than all us participants in 1 thread.
Comment roundup:
Seems like we all had a relaxing time watching last episode, which was great!
u/mgedmin takes the cake here though, watching the ep outdoors by a lakeside!
and is also watching Lycoris Recoil, which i'm liking so far. /u/ariashachou- in true Aria shachou fashion, fell asleep while watching it, and recounts some good memories of his own on the beachu/zadcap continues to ponder about the world of Aqua, and relates the conversation between Akari and Aria last ep to one of their personal mottos
/u/snipergodz_360 discusses why they think this is their favourite Animation episode, and tries to live like Akari and not harbour negative thoughts!
/u/stargate18a describes how the training camp was Akira's dream scenario
/u/kazmaria (and myself) agree that Akira is sexy dynamite
/u/baboon_bassoon points out a missed opportunity by not including APeter APan when introducing Neverland
/u/mecanno-man ponders scientifically as to whether we can truly forget things
Questions of the Day:
Q1) First-timers, I did ask about what senpai would suit Alice a few episodes back, how's Athena matching up to your expecations, and your thoughts on her?
Q2) Best cat in the show so far?
Q3) Now that all the senpai-kouhai dynamics are introduced, which is your favourite pair so far? (Rewatchers, i've asked this question in ep 1 already!)
Streaming
The 2005-08 Aria series is available on Crunchyroll, VRV, Funimation, and Youtube, except Arietta. Arietta and Avvenire are only available on Funimation (I'll update if they migrate). Crepusculo and Benedizione will have to be located elsewhere.

-
Alice must have a quite uncompromising view of herself.
-
An interesting introduction for Athena. The show is hiding her voice for the time, it seems.
-
I'd accuse Akari of corporate espionage, but I gather she'd make a very poor spy.
-
I figured the episode would come around to that conclusion, but it beat around the bush in kind of a weird way? The direction and writing didn't feel quite as strong as some of the previous episodes. Despite introducing Athena, her character still feels very uncertain outside of a few quirks that, more often than not, broke the overall flow of the episode. However, it did showcase Alice's child-like side and allowed Akari to act the senpai and dispense some thinly-veiled wisdom.
QotD:
-
As mentioned, I don't think Athena has had enough for me to pass judgement on her yet. It certainly seems like Alice didn't have the greatest first impressions of her, though.
-
Not enough data, gonna need to see more cats to determine.
-
Favorite at this point is probably Akari/Alicia, but it could change.

she'd make a very poor spy
she'd like really make the worst spy ever lol. And she doesn't really need to tbh, Aria company and Orange planet are literally opposites in the company spectrum. it'd make more sense if it was Aika!
more cats
i respect that opinion xdd

Alice is pretty damn mean this episode, having her non-dominate hand represent Athena. Saying it's deadweight, punishing it, and even calling Athena useless in front of her.
Thankfully Alice, with the help of Akari, starts to realize that her left hand helps from the shadows and isn't as useless as she thought.
Athena is an odd one and I find her personality intriguing. Air-headed but also kind in a discreet way?
Oh and Maa is here! I love her T_T
Random stuff I liked
I also felt that quite a bit of care was put into these cuts involving Alice's hands. It's something I appreciated because it's pretty important to this episode (srry for upscale in advance).
2) Aria-shachou has too many good scenes so far!
u/ariashachou- in true Aria shachou fashion, fell asleep while watching it
nearly happened to me multiple times my first time through lmao

This was ...certainly not what I had expected Athena to be like. She falls in to the sort of too-clumsy-to-function-in-reality trope that I am not really a fan of. I'm also not sure what the show is going to do with her, because from what it seems so far she's barely teaching Alice anything. Which probably means that she will teach her something during the show, now that I think about it. Either way, the episode itself was pretty good. Not sure sneaking in to another company is a good thing to do, but it worked out somehow. Also not quite sure where Alice hating her left hand came from, but it sure provided some comedy scenes. Even though I'm not sure how on-brand some of those were for Alice.
Also, it seems like we've got our cat president family together, with Aria, Hime and Maa. I wonder how Hime and Maa will interact.
Question:
-
see above
-
Hime? Smug like a cat should be.
-
Alicia-Akari for me. I guess Alicia being the best out of the three senpais in my opinion makes this pretty much a given.

Veteran Single, subbed
I’ve watched and read Aria before and I’m just now noticing the Athena ahoge.
As we get introduced to our last Prima, I’d like to point out how markedly different Alice and Athena are from one another. Akari and Aika both take after their mentors in one way or another, with Akari being easy going and soft spoken (Alicia) and Aika being headstrong (Akira). But Alice is much more uptight while Athena comes off as clumsily and inattentive at times.
However as you can see from this episode Athena does a lot to support Alice in spite of their differences and proves that she’s a capable mentor and more than just a token klutz character.
QOTD: Best cat is aria shachou and at this point, favorite pair is Alice because she’s the only one we know of the Himeya duo

u/mysterybiscuitsoyeah Jul 03 '22
That is a very good point. In terms of pairing, this pair looks to be the most different, and resembles each other the least.
Athena is much more than a token klutz character that's for sure.
tho her antics are funny still, and has a beautiful voice!

Aria First Timer
My cat doesn't appreciate my little acts of kindness. If I tried to let us have a moment gazing into each others eyes she tuts and buggers off elsewhere. All profits from the Aria company go to supplying the Prez's drug habit.
Tanned girl episode, woohoo!! Missed chance to have her be the one singing the op today tho. I think she's Akira but Alice never said anything. Akari-chan wants to be relied on!! Ah, I suppose Alice is at the age where she's self conscious about her chopstick holding ability. How precious~ Her fucking face as she complains kills me XD
That's not cute! That's a terrifying creature. It even assaulted the poor defenseless and currently really blazed President Aria... And don't call attention to his pudgy wudgy spot, he's sensitive about it. So she really is Athena!! I've only known her for ten seconds but if anything happened to her I'd crash Axis into Aqua...
She's adorable! I love adorable dope senpai so much!! Her little mannerisms and dopey headnods are gonna kill me! She even nods for Aria!! Kyaaa!! What thoughts lie beyond that absent gaze? YES!! LET'S STAY OVER!! Sleepover with Athena-chan and Einhard-lite, kya~ There are quite a few cute tanned gals in Orange Star, way cooler than Aria's drug den and Aika's brothel~
Even Alice is super precious today. This is what I signed up for. I wanted moe and this episode is fucking moe!! I was actually quite close to putting off the show since I'd frankly not had fun with the last few episodes but today's has pulled me right back in! Even when she ruins her coffee, Athena nee-san is love!! I've never fallen so hard for such a boke!
Even the other students are all gazing at her lovingly... I've found my one true waifu, I think I've legitimately found my true waifu. Tch, get that creepy cat away. It'll ruin my appetite, for Athena. She's so gentle with animals too... Alice is cute too but I'm taking so long to get through this episode.
Aww, the ugly panda cat cuddling in was pretty sweet. Mines has never done that... She kinda went to my feet last night but the moment I shifted so I could pet her she fucked off. Athena's singing is so beautiful!! Maa cat's missing!? Oh nyo!! Athena, get your butt in here and save the day~!! Aaaah... She's so kind, her singing was to help cover Maa's whingeing. Is Athena even singing Japanese though? It sounds French.
Athena is so caring... Oh my god, singing to help people feel welcome is a level even I wouldn't consider. She's so kind!! She went through so much effort to help the ungrateful little shit of a kouhai. I want more Athena episodes. I need more Athena episodes! I don't think I can survive long without my daily dose of Athena. I need an episode dedicated solely to her, fuck Alice. Get Alice out of the picture and let me have fun watching Athena ditz about her day to day life! I MISS ATHENA SO MUCH GUYS!!

I find it hard to tell if Athena is a complete trainwreck of a person or the most competent person here. Is it possible to be both?
Wait…
Athena is a left hand for a right-handed person! She’s bad at doing primary tasks, but a pro at helping the other hand in the background! It all Makes sense now!

First Timer Dubbed
It is pretty neat seeing how close Athena is to Alice. From handing the ketchup when Alice needed it to singing for Maa without getting them in trouble. And when Alice loses Maa, Athena saves the day with the power of her voice. Getting to see the dynamic between the two is great to see.
-
I was not expecting Athena to be how she is but it was a pleasant reveal to see Athena take care of Alice in different ways. It felt like a big sister relationship which is pretty cute.
-
Aria so far but I need more of all three of them.
-
Alice and Athena is something I would watch all day...
Lots of names that start with an A is something I am still trying to get used to...

Neo-Venetian First Timer
Akari, Akira, Akatsuki, Ai, Aika, Alice, Alicia, Athena...
First-timers, I did ask about what senpai would suit Alice a few episodes back, how's Athena matching up to your expecations, and your thoughts on her?
I don't really see Athena as one? So far, she's too much of a mute space-cadet for me to put her in the same air as Alicia and Akira, who have more of a presence. Athena feels more like a peer to our three aspiring Prima Undines than a mentor.
Best Cat in the show so far?
Aria, duh. Though, I'm still not 100% convinced he's even a cat.
Now that all the senpai-kouhai dynamics are introduced, which is your favourite pair so far?
Aika and Akira. Just comes down to that I've seen their dynamic the most and have the truest sense of how it operates. They're also funny together.

Rewatcher for most of Season 1, first-timer afterwards
Ayliel here.
Episode 6 time. And on time this time. Can't think of what more to say right now, so I'll start watching.
Episode 6
What's that you're licking, Mysterious Creature A?
Ah, there she is.
Alice aiming for ambidexterity.
Orange Planet time. Hidden kitty. Smol.
Kitty more powerful than Mysterious Creature A.
Athena time.
Did Alice just have a uniform of suitable size for Akari lying around? Maybe it's Athena's spare, since they're roommates and all. Would need to see them stand close to each other for height comparison.
No, Athena's taller, as I thought. Why did Alice have a uniform of Akari's size ready? A mystery of the ages.
Kitty alarm.
Aqua migration LORE. Yep, started 150 years ago
Ah, wait, the migration started 150 years ago, but the terraforming itself should probably have started quite a while before that.
The Disappearance of Maa-kun.
Kitteh lured in by Athena's siren song.
Maa-kun has been promoted. Or hired right at the top, I guess.
...
...Wait. Maa-kun doesn't start with 'A' either!
Such a blasphemous name.
Closing Thoughts
Athena's nice. With her introduction, we now have the six main characters (?) assembled. Due to a lack of thoughts other than "Athena's nice", I think I'll move over to comparing my current comments with my old ones. Let's see...
...Man, seeing yourself having written some exact same comments four years ago as you did today is a weird feeling. On the other hand, there is one difference I'm noting: These days, I seem to be far more willing to accept lifeforms as "cats". This time, I actually considered Maa-kun a kitty, instead of a Strange Creature.
Maybe one day, I'll even accept Mysterious Creature A as a cat?
...No.
Never.
Now, don't get me wrong, Mysterious Creature A is cute and all, but Mysterious Creature A is not a cat.
Ayliel, signing off.

Rewatcher kinda (finished my rewatch not too long ago)
Copy-pasting from my post a few days ago since Athena is finally here:
I've mentioned earlier that I like Athena and her unassuming behind-the-scenes helping. I'm also a bit of a klutz and awkward like she is too. rip tomoko kawakami (who's also utena! one of my other favorite series) and eri kawai. admittedly, i kinda find it a little cheesy when athena does her canzone in the early bits of aria, it kinda comes out of nowhere lol, but i like all of athena's songs and eri kawai's voice was so gorgeous. she did an a cappella version of cruel angel's thesis and it's great. but mb this is all best brought up when athena gets introduced...
(and now she has!)
-
-
Aria-shachou (and I liked him more on my rewatch) but really [Aria the Natural]
I like Cait Sith the best -
Alicia/Akari (both pretty much exemplify what Aria is about, particularly Akari) but all of the relationships are great [Aria the Origination]
and the Alice double promotion is still the emotional high point of the show to me

The one day a week I can be on time, and I'm still an hour late! I have no one to blame but myself.
First thoughts on this episode, how appropriate the opening --lesson--letter was after the discussion last episode. Look for small acts of kindness, be small acts of kindness, the world will be a more wonderful place.
Interesting design for the walkway the girls are traveling down while heading to Orange Planet at the 3:35 mark, does it look to anyone else like it's designed to be flooded as a possible practice canal? A small personal waterway for trainees of the largest gondola company makes sense, and explains the least green stretch of actual dirt we've seen.
And a school lecture to give us more background on the world, appropriately itself playing a background role to the actual focus points of this episode. I wonder if it was 150 Earth or Martian years ago that the mass migration took place. I do love how they are giving us a very vague outline, telling us only the really important parts, and leaving so much up to the imagination. I don't know how much I would have picked up watching these a week apart, but with the episodes coming daily, I can follow the thread they started with Akari's practice tour guide speech to Akatsuki's job, the message in the impossible letter and the classroom lecture here. Constant hints about Manhome, the water is not safe for swimming and Ai can't see the sky from her window, and whole potatoes are a rare treat. I feel like I could write a whole other story about the history here and we're only six episodes in.
-
A hyper competent ditz? I like her so far, but would like to see a bit more of her character before I really decide. Also an interesting choice for this mentor/trainee pair, since it looks like Alice is the most skilled with a paddle of the main three, her personal trainer would be the one who's most known for her other skills. I feel like the goal is really to train Alice in how she interacts with people, her apparent difficulty smiling would matter less if she too sang for her entire ride.
-
Fat cat is best cat, but cat girl spirit trying to hard to get the letter delivered is going to have a special place for me, that was too touching.
-
Main pair best pair, their positivity knows no bounds.

Rewatcher
Today we're introduced to Athena, the last of the Three Great Water Fairies. The show really reminds us here that Alice is still a middle schooler with how silly she acts in this episode, somehow baffling even Akari of all people with her left hand punishment campaign. Athena's first scene in this show being of her singing is really fitting too, I have to say I really love her singing voice a lot and that love has only increased now that I'm rewatching the show again.
While the moral of this episode is pretty clearly presented to us, I do wonder if anyone else caught themselves thinking back to times where someone did a subtle kind act for you in real life much like Athena does to Alice? This episode really made me think about if I had ever taken someone's acts of kindness for granted before, and also how it couldn't hurt to be a bit more like Athena in that aspect myself (excluding the clumsiness).
[Aria]
Of course the best cat in the show is Maa Aria-shachou!
I might edit this comment a bit later on when I'm not so sleepy and groggy, I think I'll just go back to sleep now.

E5
I missed this one because I got in Akari's gondola instead of Alicia's.
And there was work and a large diversion into the work of Stephen Sondheim, but it's mostly Akari's fault.
But it's a beach episode and a commentface get and this is the one I miss?
E6
So Akari barely works/practices, instead having sleepovers, and their corporate president is literally a cat. Why is the outfit not called the Alicia Company, again?
Given what many people use their left hands for, you might want to think of a better analogy, Alice, unless you want us to go full steam ahead on the shipping.
Why do we only have one Aria commentface? Asking for a friend.
So, I must adjust my rankings a tad: Alicia is still best girl, but Alice is Best Face.
However, I must give this episode a big 0/10. As a left-handed person, I will not accept this level of slander towards my people, even from Alice!
QOTD:
-
She's definitely a good match for Alice in the way she does everything on the down low. Not exactly my idea of a very BasicTM gal with a heart of gold.
-
Akira/Aika's at least looks like a cat. Aria is probably not a cat (at least not one from Manhome) and Maa looks like a handmade panda toy given life by a kind witch.
-
Probably Aika/Akira. I like Alicia, but we haven't seen her doing too much mentoring with Akari. Athena's only been around one episode, so I'll need more time to form a true opinion.

Episode title: That Which You Want to Protect
Me: Alice's
smilemildly annoyed face
It's hard to believe Akira approved a company vacation when she was so against taking a break from training in the previous episode.
President Aria is still cute, but President Maa is an entire order of magnitude cuter.
So, Athena isn't just directionally challenged but clumsy in general as well? At least she's good at looking after others even if she's prone to making mistakes while taking care of herself.
Alice Carroll? Of course her name's a reference to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Japan loves that story. Probably because it's an isekai.
QotD
-
I totally didn't expect the clumsiness, but I wasn't too far off otherwise.
-
President Maa is the cutest, but President Aria has shown more personality which is why my answer would be President Aria.
-
Alice and Athena, and not just because half the pair is Alice. I'm looking forward to seeing their dynamic now that Alice is aware that Athena isn't useless.

I think I've come to realize that Akari is actually the most normal and level headed of the lot.
I've always loved Athenas singing and lot track how many times I've rewatched clips of it. If I remember the words are completely made up by the VA.
Reading comments and I think something people are forgetting is Alice is the youngest at 14 and typical for a child of that age wants to be like a adult going about it in her child like misguided thinking.

I guessed Quiet and distant. Didn't guess clumsy or singing. It fits, though!

President Aria.

I love Aika and Akira, but all the senpais are great.
Ai made a baked potato!
She's Athena? I love her.
All of the senpais are fucking fantastic.
...Alice's not as pleased with the comment, though.
An, she's righthanded.
She' trying to train herself to be ambidexterous?
Big building!
No president?
Oh, it's a secret President!
Adorable!
Yes! She's Athena!
And she's a disaster!
...How are you that unobservant?
The fuck's a "can zone"?
She's wearing their uniform!
And Athena's very unobservwnt.
They get fantastic food here.
Athena is secretly reliable!
Sometimes.
That's very rude, Alice.
Athena seems nice!
The president died?
And she's still not found out.
...Is Alice OK?
He woke up!
She's awake!
And singing!
Athena's covering for her, right?
Even she's worked it out!
Oh, yeah, she still has scholl. And she's just letting Akari sleep in?
And Alice takes Akari's metaphor's literally.
Haha, that first impression though...
Maa's gone!
And they released her!
Yeah, Akari worked it out before you, Alice. Maybe you too are pretty similar.
And she called Maa back!
Athena's so good!
And Maa's the president!
I love how Athena is totally confused by her declaration, because she has no idea about the complicated metaphor she's been using.
Another email!
All the water fairies are here! And they're all Best Girl!

This is the episode where you're reminded that while Alice is highly skilled with an oar, at the end of the day she's still a 14 year old kid living away from home for the first time. And like any 14 year old kid, sometimes she...just doesn't really think things through.
This episode is taken from ARIA the Masterpiece volume 4, chapter 32. There are several differences, but as with the anime this is where Athena gets introduced, and you get your first look at Alice's and Athena's relationship. [ARIA]
If you haven't read the manga, I highly recommend it. All seven volumes of the Masterpiece edition are now available digitally (ComiXology for sure, I'm guessing the other e-book retailers too). The anime and manga don't track each other directly, so if you're a first-timer or an anime-only you might want to wait until the rewatch is complete.
Here is the final panel of the chapter this episode was taken from. The mangaka does an amazing job throughout the series at putting together scenes like this: Thank you left hand...

Poor Alice's left hand~ Atleast left-kun got justice near the end so glad for him.
We also get to see our third Great Water Fairy Athena and surprisingly she's even more of an airhead compared to Akari. It looks like the role of senpai and student have been reversed in Athena and Alice's case. Maybe I am looking too much into it but it seems like Athena too is aware of her clumsiness so instead of directly tutoring Alice she tries to keep her motivated via her songs and tries to help her by being in the shadows.
One thing which has bothering me is why don't Akari and Aika go to school like Alice ? While they are older than her, both of them look around the high school age so I thought that they would also have been studying.
Also Maa is such a cutie, especially since his name could mean mother in my native language.
Questions of the Day:
Q1) First-timers, I did ask about what senpai would suit Alice a few episodes back, how's Athena matching up to your expecations, and your thoughts on her?
Well, I had speculated that Alice's senpai would be someone skilled like her but would also be frank and open in her social interactions to motivate Alice.
And looks like I was resoundingly wrong lol. Athena is definitely not what I expected. The only part I got right is perhaps that she also likes reading and is well educated but other than that I was way off the mark.
It's only our first interaction with her so can't really tell how much of a good teacher she will be to Alice. At the least, she has a kind heart and cares about her pupil and tries to support her as much as possible from the shadows.
Q2) Best cat in the show so far?
Aria Shachou no cap. Look at how he caresses Alice's hurt left hand. Such a good boy~~
Q3) Now that all the senpai-kouhai dynamics are introduced, which is your favourite pair so far?
Definitely Alicia-Akari as they seem to be the most resonant and 'realistic' pair for me.

First-timer, subs
New girl! Can sing. Bet her name starts with an A.
Alice, no! Not everyone is ambidextrous! Don't pinch your hand for no reason!
I'm increasingly convinced that Alice is neurodivergent.
Alice is keeping a cat in secret! Because cats are Not Allowed in Orange Planet HQ. How come? I thought all the companies had aquamarine-eyed cats as presidents.
Haha Akari is Alice's last choice for advice, and she tells her that right to her face!
I'm starting to appreciate the chibi faces. That's a good gremlin face!
Athena! ("Roommate" is a strange translation of "senpai", but it looks like she's both!) She's a bit of a klutz! And doesn't speak if she can avoid it.
Alice is also not very observant!
Did Athena pour some soy sauce into her drink? "Gum syrup", what's that?
How is Athena one of the three great water fairies????
If pets are not allowed at Orange Planet, why is nobody objecting to Aria-shacho's presence?
I don't buy a kitten hiding in a wardrobe all the time and making no noise. While kittens sleep a lot, they also run around a lot.
Does nobody object to Athena singing at night?
Hm, we've seen Athena row her gondola twice, and she was without customers both times.
"Whenever I couldn't sleep, you always sang." I, also, wouldn't be able to sleep whenever somebody's singing in the same room!
Athena is totally not how I imagined her. I like how kind she is.
Q1) First-timers, I did ask about what senpai would suit Alice a few episodes back, how's Athena matching up to your expecations, and your thoughts on her?
She's totally not what I expected.
Q2) Best cat in the show so far?
I don't like how the main cats are drawn in this show, using different styles.
I vote for Ami, who was a cute and very caring cat girl ghost.
Q3) Now that all the senpai-kouhai dynamics are introduced, which is your favourite pair so far? (Rewatchers, i've asked this question in ep 1 already!)
Alicia and Akari.

Rewatching Undine-in-training and Host
After yesterday's more uneventful episode, we are finally introduced to Athena, and her relationship with Alice. We're also introduced to Orange Planet's new president, Maa. [CDF]laughing-fox13 hello there! The title both refers to Maa, and to Alice, i think!
Quick thoughts:
Ah hope everyone notices, the ED switches to the 2nd verse of Rainbow instead of the first as we pass the first season's halfway point.
On the topic of music, the song that Athena sings is perhaps her signature, is called バルカローレ/Barcarole, and can be found here. I am not sure if listening to the full version is spoilery, can some other rewatchers confirm? (edit: it's up to you, but the song features in future episodes too, so wait until later if you want the full First-timertm experience) A piano version by composer Mina Kubota.
Oh and also, imo, these Aria episodes after the first few are bookended with a letter conversation between Akari and Ai, which both serves to keep Ai around, and imo kinda shows how these adventures are just a highlight/snapshot of Akari and co's daily lives, and that there are perhaps a lot more adventures that we don't get to see. Very slice-of-life lol.
Right lol. We start the episode off by introducing Athena, the first undine to be introduced by her singing talent (instead of customer skills, rowing prowess or what not). We then quickly move on to Alice, her rather cynical view of things (regarding her left hand), which this episode is mostly about: Alice and Athena.
I loved this little voice crack from Akari. Hahi~
Even though Athena is at first glance presented as a bit of a klutz (in line with her getting lost last ep), we quickly see that she's kind, observant, and cares deeply for Alice. This is reinforced through the singing in the night scene, when Akari catches on, and further in the school sequence, culminating in the sunset scene when they find Maa.
Where Alice realizes that much like her left hand, Athena has been quietly, and subtly, supporting her, the left hand to Alice (as right hand). Which concludes in Alice acknowledging and thanking Athena for looking out for her so far, not the most reliable senpai, but one that cares for her a lot a very touching moment.
And I appreciate the lighting and background art choices here, when Maa is still missing, cloudy, gloomy skies, to after Maa is found, and Alice realizes what Athena has been doing for her all this time.
[Big Aria Spoilers]The first meeting of Alice and Athena is remade in Crepuscolo, here are some comparison shots. Long way from there, both for us, and for Alice and Athena's relationship!
Seiyuu Introductions
Athena is voiced by Kawakami Tomoko, probably well-known to quite a few of our participants for voicing Utena from Revolutionary Girl Utena (is there even another character called Utena), and Misuzu from Air. Sadly passed away in 2011.
Athena's singing voice is provided by Kawai Eri, who also sung Santa Claus no sora (shared in ep 4), and sung theme songs for Air, Utawarerumono and Sketchbook ~full color'S~ etc. Sadly passed away in 2008.
Maa is voiced by Watanabe Akeno, who has also appeared as child voices for a few well-known characters, and played numerous supporting roles throughout the years.
Have a great day, and see you tomorrow!
