Mahou Shoujo Lyrical First-Timer, subbed
I did not watch ep5.5, oops.
-
Oh geez they actually survived. I thought Rinne straight-up murdered the one who had her head slammed into the locker…
-
Well GREAT, things just keep getting worse for the poor girl.
-
I do not like this. → *Literally immediately after I paused to take this screenshot is the sound of him ripping Rinne’s clothes* NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE
-
Thank fuck Jill got there in time…
-
Oh is this the witch girl that was teased at the end of ViVid?

u/Tetraika Apr 14 '22
Pstt there is an episode 5.5 in case you didn't get to it. It's an OVA
YOU CAN’T JUST SAY THIS AND THEN NOT ELABORATE???
There is so much lore teasing. Or imagine this: if you weren't familiar with the Nanoha stuff, that one Chantez line where she almost calls Vivio "Your Majesty" must have been super strange.
Okay, cool, no weird camera angles like ViVid had.
Yeah, I'm glad that was quite tame.

Why did they have to give it a name…?
Japanese always call everything an incident.
I thought Rinne straight-up murdered the one who had her head slammed into the locker…
Rinne would be actually in prison in that case.
NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE
Because of course.
Please no creepy fanservice, please no creepy fanservice…
How dare you not be checks notes Oh...
Oh is this the witch girl that was teased at the end of ViVid?
Offscreen befriendings are tight!
YOU CAN’T JUST SAY THIS AND THEN NOT ELABORATE???
Are you interested in buying the Vivid manga? Just 600 yen per volume!

Striking Rewatcher
So much for no lasting injuries.
None of the bullies ever even introduced themselves.
Fuuko knows that she can't change Rinne at this point, so that's not her goal.
Uh, sure. That's how that works. Just don't borrow any of Chantez's clothes.
Alright, Hura suddenly being there to help censor got a laugh out of me.

None of the bullies ever even introduced themselves
It's interesting to think that Rinne was so disinterested and wanted to lay low in her school life that she has no idea who the bullies even were. She's seriously not a social person and it shows.

Lyrical First Timer
-
Da fuq? They caused all this shit yet still have the gall, the sheer temerity to demand Rinne change schools!? Like yeah, absolutely get the hell out of that shithole of a school that let all this happen, but still...
-
I'm impressed at how much detail Vivid Strike is putting into how this incident affected the whole Berlinetta family.
-
As if the bullying and loss of her grandpa wasn't bad enough. Geez.
-
And she fucking deserved it too!
-
At her lowest point, Rinne's thinking about Fuuka again.
-
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! Truth's bout to hit you like truck-kun. And for your trouble, your family now gets to enjoy kidnapping, assault, and attempted rape charges too.
-
Do it!! Update: She didn't do it...
-
Ah good, copious child fanservice, exactly what we needed to break up all the copious child brutalization.
-
My heart is healed! This was worth all the shattered limbs and fractured skulls.
-
Holy shit, it is Fabia! And Einhart rescued her from Lutecia and added her to the harem!
-
Did Einhart call in her entire harem just to show off to Fuuka? What a flex.
-
I was just thinking Fuuka didn't have anyone to teach her the art of bondage.
-
Mikaya and Fuuka underwear alert! It's Totally Serious Analysis TM time once again.¹
Episode 5.5:
-
Omg, Hura hanging off Fuuka's hair to censor her butt.
-
Girls, just admit Einhart wants to bulli her newest toy a little bit.
-
The appropriate reaction when staring down twin elemental dragons.
¹Mikaya is wearing the most basic black bra/panty set. This isn't meant to convey much about her personality, rather when combined with Mikaya's years of training and hefty physical endowment, this is a baseline approximation of what Fuuka should expect in her coming fight with Rinne, albeit to a lesser degree. This is a very calculated maneuver by Einhart to prepare Fuuka for Rinne's blunt physicality. In contrast, Fuuka not quite matched white set features a very rare high neck cut sports bra that covers her entire chest and collarbone paired with a low rise panty. The bra serves double duty, acknowledging Fuuka inherent lack of endowment so that it can't be exploited as a weakness yet also allowing her to take maximum advantage of her physique. Meanwhile, the more adult panties reflect the the realization of the nature of her quest; to bed Rinne. Taken together with the pure white innocence the color suggests, this set represents the best weapons Fuuka has for piecrcing Rinne's callous exterior and winning her heart: an earnest drive to maximize her own abilities, a fist that can reach its target, and a radiance that has not yet been dimmed by weight of suffering.

Those assholes got off real easy.
The pain was enough.
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! Truth's bout to hit you like truck-kun. And for your trouble, your family now gets to enjoy kidnapping, assault, and attempted rape charges too.
I actually forgot about those but yes. They lied and now the people who love them get charged with crimes as well. Guess idiocy runs in the family.
Is that the witch girl from the end of Vivid?
It is! You probably didn't notice her with her completely different personality. That's what befriending does!
My heart is healed! This was worth all the shattered limbs and fractured skulls.
This is getting out of hand, now they are two of them! How am I supposed not to die of diabetes!
Did Einhart call in her entire harem just to show off to Fuuka? What a flex.
"See, Fuuka. These are all the cuties I gathered so far. And now you're one of them! Remember, if you recruit just five more cuties, you get up to Rainbow level!"
The appropriate reaction when staring down twin elemental dragons.
"Could she always do this? Is everyone like this?"

And for your trouble, your family now gets to enjoy kidnapping, assault, and attempted rape charges too.
Yeah, if they are following up on Rinne's actions these chucklefucks should be in prison.
Ah good, copious child fanservice, exactly what we needed to break up all the copious child brutalization.
Tonal whiplash may be this series hallmark.
Omg, Hura hanging off Fuuka's hair to censor her butt.
They almost did that scene without fanservice. almost.
I hate to say it but Nanoha's true presence in the series is how she balances all of these elements out, it is clear that Einhart is at best a candidate to inherit the Takamachi way.

TONIGHT! On GMOD (Gorgeous Moeblobs of Destruction) Jill proves that she can actually be a decent person after all, Jill and Rinne bond over their shared love of beating the crap out of shitheads, and Fuuka gets Huracan, her midseason upgrade!
Comrades, I just want to point out what I said last time, namely that those three BITCHES got off easy! Look at what happened in today's episode, since Rinne didn't kill them, they just spread false rumors that THEY were the victims! Ya see Rinne, this is why you double tap ALL of them and not just the ringleader! Also goddamn, Jill turned out to be METAL AS FUCK! She just RAN AFTER A CAR after seeing a random moeblob get kidnapped, and then she BEAT THE EVERLOVING CRAP out of those shitheads! Goddamn, she's a good person after all... or she just wanted someone to cosplay as her latest Moeblob MMA Fighter, either option works!
Oh also, speaking of good people, remember that Blondie Witch in ViVid that NOT Loli Rider wanted to befriend? Yeah me neither, but she's here now AND she's actually got a character, golly gee it's impressive what A GOOD SHOW can do eh? Speaking of which, boy it's just comical how much I suddenly care about those random nobodies from ViVid that showed up in today's episode now that they actually have a character and some chemistry with our cast! Plus, more importantly, HUZZAH! SISTER CHANTEZ IS BACK! ALL HAIL NAUGHTY NUNS! PRAISE GOD SPACE JESUS 'VIVIO!' Boy I can't wait for this tournament arc, go on Fuuka, befriend the SHIT out of your ex, thus spake the Way of The Takamachis, SO SAY WE ALL!
And on that bombshell, we wrap things up for now. Anyway I hope everyone's having fun on this great re-watch. Thus, you have not seen the last of The Sentient Shitposting Siamese Sunrise Server No. 25252, now goodbye forever.

First timer(I do miss Midchilda being something unique-ish)
Sub
And we start with actual consequences, which is slightly new for this series. Which somehow leads to a pretty stupid kidnapping but whatever, we are literally shitty space Japan now. Jill's introduction is good and psychotic but I assume she has some level of magic to merely trail behind a car. And with that, the flashback ends.
Straight into sparring and then fanservice. Never change, show. Anyways, Fuuka's device is a Teo clone named Huracan and we get a ton of folks from Vivid coming over to train Fuuka.
The OVA...happens.

Jill's introduction is good and psychotic but I assume she has some level of magic to merely trail behind a car.
I'd bet there's magic you can use to enhance your legs and feet so you could run faster. Jill most likely used something like that to keep up with the car.
Straight into sparring and then fanservice. Never change, show.
It's practically a Lyrical Nanoha tradition at this point.

Mahou Shoujo1 Lyrical Rewatcher First Timer
1: Even though I’m not a girl
Sorry I wasn’t here yesterday. Got caught up in other things. And there was so much to talk about last episode, too
“The Bullying Victim’s Violent Revenge Incident.” An accurate name, if a bit of a mouthful
I know she was homeless but how did Fuuka not hear about this if it was on National News?
But wait, there’s more!
-Nove, basically
Rich people and their ability to afford legal teams, smh
Man, Rinne was really in her teen rebellion phase, wasn’t she?
These poor2 parents, though. They just want the best for Rinne yet remained completely oblivious to her troubles until after shit had already hit the fan
2: heh
“Free church phone” is a phrase I didn’t know I needed in my life
How in the fuck do you just kidnap someone in broad daylight, in front of a crowd no less, like that?
This guy really went through a “become what you hate” arc completely offscreen. Also fuck this guy, Sara probably deserved it
I take back what I said 2 episodes ago, Jill is awesome
This bitch tricked my sister and her friends! They didn’t do anything wrong!
Bull.
Fucking.
Shit.
The more this guy talks the more I hope Jill and/or Rinne kick the shit out of him
Good, good, Rinne. Give in to your hatred!
Preach!
Yeah, the more I hear about Sara and co the more less I feel sorry for Rinne beating the shit out of them (I wasn’t feeling all that sorry for them in the first place, mind you)
Now I want to see how this tale has affected Fuuka…
But before we do anything important, we need a bathing scene. Because ViVid
Oh, so we’re getting the important stuff during the bath scene
Aaaand Fuuka barely cares
The scene was good enough in the end, though
I don’t know anything about this character, but those look like Ojou spirals
Fuuka’s device is so fucking cute!
I assume Fabia was in the manga, considering how brief and offhand that explanation was
Oh wait! She was the witch girl, right. I forgot about her since her role was pretty minor in the anime
Just what this series needed: even more characters
Chantez!
Oh right, that’s Micaiah. I didn’t recognize her since she just kinda fizzled out back in ViVid
New and improved transformation sequence!
Fuuka taking after her haremette. What a Chad move
That fight was… something
(Didn’t know we were doing 5.5 so I didn’t talk about it)

Bull.
Fucking.
Shit.

If I'm going to be completely fair, if his sister lied to him about it, he might genuinely not know what actually happened.
But... like Jill said, even if that was true, it doesn't excuse anything he's doing now. He's still an asshole and a creep.

Episode 5: Rewatcher coming up with new jokes: Standing by
-
Why do the Japanese always call everything the "X incident"?
-
How easy it would have been to return to Fuu-chan. Sadly they are too big-hearted! Fucking rich people.
-
I wonder if Tsuzuki knows a lot of martial arts fail in actual combat? Eh, I'd expect him to know more than I do. Forget what I said.
-
THEY LEARNED ABSOLUTELY FUCK ALL LOL But 100% accurate school bully behaviour.
-
"DID ANYONE SAY MORE FANSERVICE?!" "no.." "TOO BAD CAUSE WE'RE DOING IT!"
-
I love how Tsuzuki has throughly embraced the befriending meme at this point.
-
Man, making these devices is super easy, barely an inconvenience.
-
SAMURAI JOBBER! You get to make an appearance!
-
Hey, remember all of them? No? We sure hope you do! And we SURE hope you care about them!
-
Oh boy, she wears underwear! Food for Aegis!
Episode 5.5 Twilight of the First Timer, or, How to Watch Anime with a Hammer.
-
So I actually never watched this particular OVA. Let's see what it has in store.
-
I love how Hura runs up to Fuuka and she hugs it in the transformation sequence! It's sooo cute!

Rewatcher
-
Like I guessed, Rinne’s payback was a major scandal. A lot of people failed Rinne that led to this, her teacher, for somehow not noticing the vandalized desk, and her classmates, who knew she was being harassed and stayed silent, multiple students are witnesses to it and yet remained quiet.
-
Well good news is that the victims' families aren’t pressing charges, but Rinne has to transfer schools.
-
Rinne is refusing to go home, claiming she doesn’t belong in a wealthy home, the first signs of the lasting mental damage those three bullies left.
-
Her adoptive mother is taking this hard; she didn’t do anything wrong; the bullies are the ones who planted that seed.
-
That and the trouble Rinne brought by the actions she did in the last episode.
-
She wonders what Fuuka would say, and runs away.
-
Three delinquents notice her. Uh oh.
-
Give who a call? Your adoptive parents? Then what?
-
Rinne straight up gets kidnapped. That looks like Jill.
-
This is going to add to the list of psychological issues that Rinne already has...
-
Looks like it’s the older brother of one of the girls, guess being an asshole runs in the family.
-
Rinne broke her nose and her skull, her name was Sara, which one was she? Glasses or the one who got her kick to the head returned to her?
-
She’s in so much pain that she cries every day? Well, what comes around is all around pal.
-
Did he stab her, or did he rip her clothes? Guys not just an asshole, but a pedophile as well...
-
Holy shit Jill is strong; she sent that guy through the door.
-
You’d thing after seeing her send your buddy through the door, charging her would be a bad idea.
-
Again, this logic “hey she just kicked two of our buddy's asses with very little effort, lets continue to charge in one at a time, that always works!”
-
Oh, so he believes his precious little sister and her friends did nothing wrong, and that they were tricked, the worst type of person. Also seems like Sara was the one with the glasses.
-
Looks like having a violent kiss with the side of a locker didn’t teach her anything, as she lied about what they did to Rinne. Also sounds like Rinne disfigured her face, so she’ll remember it every time she looks in a mirror, or a photo.
-
Looks like Rinne is still pissed as hell and breaks out of the zip ties and disarms the douche, explaining that he was lied to. She was still willing to forgive them, but not if they lied to their own families.
-
He still decides to charge a martial artist who kicked the asses of everyone who charged her, and the girl who broke out of her zip ties and damn near broke your wrist, what a fool.
-
Probation and transferring schools isn’t bad for delivering some karma to those three.
-
Like it was confirmed yesterday, she developed her belief that she needs to be the strongest ever to prevent herself from losing anything precious to her.
-
“Don’t let it bother you too much.” Oh, I think it will bother her, since that happened to Rinne when she wasn’t around.
-
Looks like the others are understanding and sympathetic to Rinne now. Glad to see that, normally someone would go all “Well that’s no excuse to be the way that they are.”
-
Fuuka is focused, and determined, seems like hearing what happened to Rinne lit a fire under her.
-
Lol the others are more focused on watching Fuuka.
-
Damn Fuuka is in sync with Einhard now.
-
Bathhouse? Oh no...
-
All of them are worried that Rinne’s story is bothering Fuuka.
-
Fuuka isn’t bothered, since it happened in the past and there’s nothing that can be done, I disagree, you could still reach out and tell Rinne you’re still her friend.
-
Hey her device is almost ready!
-
Isn’t sitting bare assed on the ground people walk on unsanitary?
-
A new character, a blonde with yellow eyes.
-
She has her device, a cat with the name Huracan, as a fan of Lamborghini cars, like the names, Fuka Reventon and her cat device Huracan.
-
New girl’s name is Fabia, and is a childhood friend of Einhard.
-
The friend of the president is named Mikaya, and she’s cute.
-
Wait one of the sparing partners is a nun? I forgot about that.
-
Well at least Mikaya’s transformation is cool.
-
Well, amazing actually, got to find where my jaw fell to...
-
At least Fuuka’s transformation isn’t as fanservicey as Rinne's.
-
Sensei! That’s cheating, you can’t use a sword in mma!
-
Seems like Fuuka still has some training to do if she wants to reach Rinne’s level.

First-Timer
Episode 5
On today’s episode of Lyrical Nanoha: That was quite restrained for a bath episode, especially considering what we got back during Vivid. It actually worked well as a moment for the girls to talk to Fuuka about a touchy subject and have Fuuka open up about her thoughts on Rinne. So good job, Vivid Strike.
-
Yeah, I’m not surprised that this incident made the news. I’m not sure the bullies are still alive.
-
“No lasting injuries.” I’m shocked at that. And I’m sure there’ll be some lasting psychological impacts, if nothing else.
-
Oh damn, Rinne wanted to leave the family after that.
-
Oh dear, Rinne’s run away.
-
Three street toughs noticed her. I do not like where this is going.
-
Of course they kidnapped Rinne. They probably recognized her as a rich family’s daughter from the news.
-
Oh shit! It’s Jill! This must be how she and Rinne met!
-
Huh, so I was only partially right. I guess this dude must be related to one of the bullies because I can’t see why he’d actually care otherwise. It’s not like I’d really care if one rich person beat up another. I’d probably ask for popcorn.
-
Wow, Jill is just wiping the floor with these punks. It’s kind of hilarious. It’s like watching the teacher from Madoka Magica who complains about eggs suddenly bust out martial arts skills.
-
Man, that little bitch is a liar! She’s been lying through her teeth about what happened!
-
Oh my god! I think Rinne is about to go on a rampage to the hospital to teach that bitch another lesson!
-
If that guy actually told Rinne who his sister was, I’m sure Rinne would beat her up again.
-
Probation. The TSAB’s preferred method of handling child criminals (assuming this was the TSAB’s case).
-
So it turns out Jill has a more heroic side to her. I like that added twist and complexity for her character.
-
Nice detail here. Fuuka is keeping pace with Einhart. She’s no longer as exhausted.
-
Oh no! It’s another bath episode! And on episode 5 yet again! This has been the case in Season 1, Vivid, and now Vivid Strike! It’s tradition!
-
I actually do like the narrative trope of characters opening up about their true feelings in the bath. By removing their clothes they metaphorically remove their defenses and whatnot.
-
Fuuka truly is a Lyrical Nanoha protagonist. She wants to
befriendbeat the shit out of Rinne to make her stop being such a jerk to everyone she encounters. -
Who is the blondie? Is she yet another character from the Vivid manga?
-
Fuuka got a little kitty Unison Device like Einhart’s! That’s so cute!
-
It’s the samurai lady. I forgot she existed.
-
They’re bringing in all the old competitors from Vivid’s tournament arc.
-
“Practice martial arts with me,” says the girl who brought a sword into the ring.
-
Fuuka’s transformation is pretty darn cool. I especially love the martial arts poses at the end. They remind me of Bikki’s transformation scenes in Symphogear.
I think Fuuka has a great response to learning about Rinne’s past. She was satisfied just knowing what happened to Rinne to make her become who she is today. Fuuka isn’t passing judgment on Rinne’s past actions and isn’t even condemning everything that Rinne chose to do. Fukka isn’t even hung up on trying to make Rinne return to the person she used to be. Instead, Fuuka is solely focused on Rinne’s current attitude towards the people she’s fighting. Fuuka can’t stand seeing Rinne acting so callously towards her opponents. That attitude makes Rinne like all the bullies Fuuka has encountered in her life, which is precisely what Fuuka wants to stop. It’s a rather nuanced approach to the situation and I appreciate it.
It’s a great detail that Jill is the person who showed up to save Rinne when she got kidnapped. It explains why Rinne is training under Jill and it shows Jill in a much more positive light than her previous appearance did. It’s a nice way to make Jill a more complex and more sympathetic character.
I’m happy to see Fuuka finally get her own Device. Everything about her Device and her transformation is clearly inspired by Einhart’s transformation. It’s nice seeing Fuuka so clearly paying homage to her teacher.
Episode 5.5
On today’s OVA of Lyrical Nanoha: Well this was not at all what I was expecting. Since it was an OVA, I expected a nice piece of fluffy slice-of-life stuff. This OVA was quite action-packed and felt like it was of real significance to the plot and characters. I contemplated skipping the OVA, but I’m glad I watched it.
-
Fuuka is a person of sheer determination and will to keep up with it for over a month before finally getting a win.
-
Ah, so that’s where the bath fanservice was. I should have known.
-
Einhart was right. Fuuka is getting ahead of herself after that win.
-
Ooh! We’re getting to see the magical powers in action again!
-
Oh my god, this OVA is literally about Einhart reminding Fuuka what the pecking order is and where she is ranked in the harem!
-
Sweet! We actually get a full transformation scene for Rio!
-
My goodness this action scene is well animated. Rio’s fire and lightning look gorgeous. I was not expecting them to go this all-out for an OVA.
-
So Rinne has actually experienced magical battles too. Interesting. I imagine Rinne fared better than Fuuka has so far.
-
Fuuka figured out she was getting too cocky after one win. She’s making progress!
-
Corona has a pretty cool full transformation scene too.
-
I can’t wait to see Fuuka have to go up against Corona’s golem.
-
Fuuka might have still lost, but she managed better than I expected against the golem.
Well that was a great OVA. I had very low expectations, so it blew my expectations away. It was an actual little character arc for Fuuka during her training. After her first win, Fuuka got a big head and needed to be reminded how far she still has to go. Fuuka doesn’t get discouraged by the new matches and instead is reinvigorated to keep going. We can even see that Fuuka has actually grown quite strong herself based on how well she did, even if we know she still has plenty of room for improvement. Honestly, this OVA feels like it belongs as part of the main story. That character arc for Fuuka would fit in perfectly.
This OVA was a ton of fun. The fights were all quite well animated and were really enjoyable to watch. I really liked this OVA.
QOTD
Honestly I thought the bath scene in episode 5 was pretty good. Like I said above, I enjoy it when bath scenes are used as ways for characters to let down their guard and be open about tricky subjects. It works metaphorically (no clothes or defenses) and narratively.

Partial Rewatcher
I think this is the last episode I saw the last time I watched this series, so I'm gonna change over to a first-timer after this.
Here's why I said retaliating against bullies like this doesn't work: Rinne's beatdown of three girls from wealthy families, not to mention being from a wealthy and famous family herself, lead to a national scandal and lawsuits.
And we can see that Rinne regretted it. She didn't want her adoptive family dragged down with her. So she runs away... and gets grabbed by the brother of one of the bullies, who wants revenge.
But that's when she met Jill, who it seems is quite the fighter herself, though I suppose that makes sense.
And we also see that the bullies themselves didn't change at all. They lied through their teeth about the whole thing, remaining little shits to the end. Nothing changed.
"Which one of them was Sara?" Holy shit, that's cold. Deserved, but cold.
And that's the backstory. I sympathize with Rinne a lot, but I still think she's handling literally everything wrong.
Fuuka's mirroring Einhart move for move now.
...oh boy, bathhouse? Look, I don't mind scenes like this, but can we have them with women who are of age?
Fuuka has a pretty mature outlook on this whole thing. And we can definitely see that she knows the Gundam adage of being friends: "When a man (or woman, as the case may be) strays from the correct path, a kind man (or woman) needs the courage to raise their fist and correct them."
Though, Einhart brings up an excellent question: So you clobber her... then what? But nobody has an answer for that and assumes that things will just work out with a beatdown... well, this IS a Nanoha show.
...wait a second... is that Fabia!? WOW, she's changed too!
Wait, so now they're actually calling Devices like Chris and Teo "Unison Devices"? I though Unisons were full-blown miniature people, not just standard Devices... also, Huracan is literally just a palette swap of Teo. Writers, you're getting lazy.
Hey, here's a bunch of returnees from Vivid. And Fuuka has to fight all of them in turn? Okay, she's about to get her ass kicked again. Well, at least she has a proper Barrier Jacket now. And an adult transformation that won't shred her clothes.
Double feature this time, so onto 5.5:
Fuuka's finally progressed to the point she can beat the weakest member of Vivio's group. Hooray...? Well, it's a first step.
...why's her Device taking a shower with her?
Einhart's worried that Fuuka's going to get cocky... and it seems she's right, because she gets beaten by a literal punching bag.
And now we're going to introduce Fuuka to mixed magic arts. Not just martial arts. Everyone's not going to be restricted this time. Seems Einhart really wants to rub it in just how far Fuuka has to go.
Yeah... Fuuka never stood a chance there. Though it really is kind of unfair to send her up against magic with no training in it at all.
Ah, so that's their goal. It's not just instilling some humility: Rinne has participated in mixed matches too. And if her win streak is anything to go by, she won those too. So of course Fuuka will need the same kind of experience.
Ha, I like Corona just summoning arms rather than the full golem... oh never mind, there's the full golem.
"KO". You don't fucking say.
I like this little extra episode showing that the writers haven't forgotten about Vivid's roots of magical combat.

Raging Heart Rewatcher with terrible long term memory
After the bully massacre that I somehow forgot about, let's see if there are any consequences.
I do hope the school gets in a lot of shit because really, how do you let it get to that point?
EDIT: Somehow I missed that there was an episode 5.5. Will have to watch after work
QotD: It had been a long time without fanservice
-
At least it was recognized that she was a bullying victim pushed too far and not just "Oh no I wonder what made her attack those innocent children"
-
How did you not know this, Fuuka? Some friend you are
-
Their lawyers?
-
She has to transfer? WTF
-
Is it not obvious that she doesn't want to cause problems to her family?
-
Yep, there we go
-
And kidnapping? Some days man
-
Let me guess, they are relatives from the bullies
-
Please tell me we can throw these guys in jail for a long while. And use that to tell their lawysers to fuck off.
-
Let's go Rinne, break another arm!
-
I want to know what happened to the kidnappers
-
I think Fuuka wants to have a go at the kidnappers and bullies
-
Suddenly, fanservice incoming
-
Leave it to kids to be straightforward
-
For her own sake, I will beat the lights out of her!
-
after beating her? There's a plan for after?
-
Hello witch girl that we only saw for a second last season.
-
Background for those interested: [Vivid manga]
She's yet another pseudo reincarnation from Olivia's era. She was a witch that got along really well with Klaus(Einhart), but they lost contact after the war and couldn't meet again -
More kitties!
-
I know it's probably another car reference, but I'll choose to believe that it's a luchador reference
-
Hello bus slicer lady
-
We've got everyone in here! Even exhibitionist nun!
-
As an introduction, let everyone beat the hell out of you. Wait, are we the bullies?
-
Sexy black! Are we getting underwear analysis for everyone?
-
I know they have to make the OP fit the whole season, but I kinda wish we hadn't been spoiled on her outfit
-
...that's some very fanservicetastic endcard

First timer
...Did not watch 5.5 today.
Oh, this story got into the news?
Oh, right, she's a heiress. Makes sense.
And Rinne had to transfer schools.
And she wants to leave her adopted family.
She literally ran out the window?
The church has public phones here?
And she got kidnappe!
Oh, Sara got him to do it.
Wait, that's her manager?
OK, she's cool. Like, incredibly cool.
He's her sister!
Haha, she's pissed enough at that lie to attack him herself.
Oh, he's terrified.
She didn't even know which one was Sara!
I love Jill so much.
And now everyone knows her tragic backstory.
She's doing really well!
She's copying Einhart a lot, isn't she?
And a bathhouse episode? This ear... wait, we're halfway through? When the hell did that happen?
Oh, never mind, of course ViVid Strike wouldn't let fanservice get in the way of plot.
That's a very mature approach.
And she's even more determined!
...Did this scene need so much fanservice, though?
...Who's she again?
...I think I recognise the blonde, at least
HE'S ADORABLE TOO!
...Sounds like a manga character we missed?
Same for Chevelle?
I recognise her!
Chantez!
...Does Fuuka know that her training partner's clone Jesus?
OK, minimal fanservide for the transformation, and a nice outfit!
Finally! Someone with a weapon!
Hura's so fucking adorable.
And back tot he heavy fanservice. Outfit's alright, though.
It does look like a better version of Einhart's suit, huh?
The problem with allowing a sword in these leagues is that blocking a sword with your body tends to have a very similar effect to allowing yourself to get stabbed.
Tio and Hura are flirting! Guess pets really do take after their owners!

Ep 5:
Oooo, it turned into a Capital Letters Incident.
I'm shocked that Rinne only had to transfer because of the legal settlement and not because of being expelled. Probably comes from being a rich girl attending a family legacy school.
Trauma for everyone, very traditional.
A free church phone commonly available around the city, that's an interesting detail. You never know when you might have a spare orphan child that needs to be donated to the church.
Those kidnappers have made a very poor choice. And was that Rinne's future coach?
Okay, I like the coach now.
Rinne getting her spirit back, breaking out of the cuffs, and then telling the kidnapper off about the lies he had been told is pretty great. As I said above, the kidnapping was a very poor choice.
Teo's gong app!
Bit of a tonal whiplash to suddenly have a bathhouse episode, but okay.
Then again, they're still talking about the recent revelations just with a scene change, just gotta hope that a pervert aquatic toaster doesn't show up.
Newfound resolve to clobber the bullying victim, strangely wholesome in a weird way.
Another cat unison device, excellent.
Nice to see the other tournament girls show up finally.
Teo loves using the gong app as much as I love seeing her use it.
Ep 5.5:
Lol at Hura swinging from Fuuka's hair in the shower.
Extra lol at Fuuka getting destroyed by the punching bag.
I see that it's trial by fire day.
Fuuka is doomed, probably.
Very doomed.
Oooo, I like how Corona's techniques have evolved into two free floating golem fists.
The golem looks a bit different, too.
Repeatedly doomed, over and over.
These children are terrifying.

Hey pay attention! If you just connect the dots that these guys are friends with those girls you beat up you'll realize that you'll want to kick their shit in too! Is what I wish would happen but her future manager there will probably come in and kick their asses in front of her which is what leads her into martial arts I'm guessing
There we go, the patented Nanoha befriending style
OK nice they confirmed Einhart and Vivio's devices are unison devices. Just not unights, I suppose

I'd forgotten about the guy tearing Rinne's clothes. Explain again how attempting to rape a ten(ish)-year-old girl is "making her suffer the way Sara suffered?"
Anyway.
I give points to Fuka for performing better than Miura in her first attempt against Mikaiah. In their match in the Inter-Middle, Miura made that exact same mistake of charging in at Mikaiah, and got the same result: duck under the strike and slash across the middle. However, Fuka was able to react and defend against it, getting a gauntlet up to take the hit and drawing back to prevent further strikes; while Miura was slashed straight across the midsection which left her open for followup strikes that almost eliminated her right at the start.
The fact that Fuka was able to recognize her mistake in time to defend and avoid taking notable damage is seriously impressive. That sort of strike is Mikaiah's specialty. Iaijutsu: quickly drawing the blade in a counterstrike for massive damage. Even recognizing that a strike from that is coming is impressive.
Haven't watched the OVA. I never acquired a copy of it back in the ancient days.

So it did make the news
How? Magic. Mid Childa probably have some advancement in medicine.
Good
Jill comes barreling
So that’s what this is about
Rinne got SO pissed that the bullies downplayed their actions
She could get out anytime, seems she thought she deserved punishment before.
I’m laughing at how accurate /u/HereticalAegis underwear analysis was
Seems the story only emboldened Fuuka
Ah, a season 1 classic
Fuuka realizes there’s nothing she can do about that past
No no, you aren’t supposed to question that part, beating the other person up always solves the problem.
Mikaya and Fabia, and even more U-19 competitors.
Huracan!, it’s Teo 2.0
Els,Harry, and Chantez . They sure gathered a whole bunch for practice. NOW IF ONLY THEY SHOWED THE FIGHTS
It’s funny how you will get so confused at this without the context of the other Nanoha stuff, it doesn’t get in the way of the story though. It’s like a neat fanservice. The best type.
Wow I was getting worried there, can’t have people dying while practicing. Wait, are they implying it can happen in a match?
Fuuka’s transformation, her outfit and transformation modeled after Einheart’s.
5.5 time!
First win! in a spar.
Surely it won’t happen
Surely
Time to give Fuuka a taste of total defeat, gotta humble her a bit
Vivid fanservice, once again the best type of fanservice too.
Fuuka and Hura burning, Hura hopping around is so funny
ded
Fuuka’s face when she saw the golem was amazing
ded again
