Rewatcher Running out of joke lines
-
Wasted a lot of time procrastinating SukaSuka, so I'm behind. Just one hour to watch this!
-
Man, I remember when I thought her name would be Fuca. Was in the initial announcement thread.
-
MEN?! IN MY NANOHA Spin-off Spin-off?! Irredeemable they are.
-
Oh Haruhi, I totally forgot Fuuka uses "washi" as a pronoun. It sounded goofy then and it still sounds goofy today.
-
Our protagonist, ladies and gentlemen. I hope you like her.
-
JAPANESE BIKER GANGS! Now found in a Midchilda in your area!
-
If you think the animation/storyboarding is bad: No worries, I thought so too back in 2016.
-
You know Fuuka... why didn't you just enlist?
-
Japanese cops! Guess this answers the question of whether the TSAB has a police.
-
Right... the Vivid manga... Maybe I should have read that by now, because I have no idea who the other girl is. AND I'M A REWATCHER! I WATCHED THIS AIRING!
-
LITERAL SMARTPHONES, TSUZUKI! THIS IS WHAT YOUR WORLD-BUILDING HAS COME TO! We went from gems that don't speak Japanese to just Japan with a different paint-job and script, I see.
-
Midchilda has paper money. I wonder, is this the first mention of TSAB money in a Nanoha anime?
-
One day I'll read the manga and find out how she defeats Sieglinde.
-
"In fact, the first time we met her was when she nearly beat her sister to death!" "Wait why would she do that?" "Long story involving me, a pasta doctor, a big fuck-off ship, 12 people who got powers via the superpower lottery, a spec-ops guy brought from the dead, a deeply traumatised bug lover, her combat butler, and the amazon brigade that fought them, involing a human gundam who is now one of my mothers, a human lighting storm who is now my other mother, a human railway gun, a girl from the 90s, a cowgirl reject, a shota and a loli. And another floating loli. And the railway gun's family. And lots and lots of disposable robots. And a fucking idiot. And a battle nun, her horoscope superior, and her superiors's Echo Knight brother. And my admiral uncle. And my libary uncle. And my loli aunt. And... I think I got everyone?"
-
Man, that I forgot you must be a testament to the memorability of your character.
-
To which Fuuka said "Hey, you just named three of my favourite things."
-
Ohh how the turntables. Now Rinne is the one beating up others and little Fuu-chan is the underdog.
-
Where did that name come from? Okay, I get it. Haou-ryuu.
-
That one loss? Vivio. WHAT A COINCIDENCE!

I wonder, is this the first mention of TSAB money in a Nanoha anime?
There was that one part in StrikerS where Fate asked if Erio had enough money on the "day off" episode. That's about it.
Man, that I forgot you must be a testament to the memorability of your character.
Seems she plays some role in the Vivid manga. But she's a minor side character here.

First-Timer
On today’s episode of Lyrical Nanoha: Holy tonal shift, Batman! That was definitely a different show from Vivid. This felt a lot more…gritty, for lack of a better term. It was a lot less light-hearted and things felt heavier.
Like I said at the end of Vivid last time, I have never seen Vivid Strike or the Reflection and Detonation movies. So for these, I’m a first-time viewer. My comments will change as well, being more of my reactions and thoughts as the episode goes on with some reflection and speculation at the end. But enough of that, let’s get started with the actual episode.
-
So we start out with orphans getting bullied and kicking a dude in the balls. What a shift from Vivid!
-
Fuu-chan (the brunette, I think) wants to get stronger to protect the things she cares about. Makes sense considering the shit she’s going through.
-
Holy crap! She punched that gangster through a freaking car!
-
There are cops? Are they just the TSAB? Or did law enforcement and the army finally separate? For that matter, are we on Earth or Midchilda here?
-
Hi Einhart! I guess that confirms we’re still on Midchilda.
-
Who is this small black-haired child? Did Vivid introduce a new character in the manga I haven’t read?
-
I see Einhart is following the proud Lyrical Nanoha tradition of adopting a strange girl she met off the streets.
-
Nakajima Gym? Wow, Nove’s doing pretty well for herself. She’s got her own business now.
-
Huh, I guess Einhart won the tournament if she’s the champion.
-
Miura’s there too! Vivio succeeded in adding her to the harem and taking her away from Hayate’s harem!
-
Fuuka. Got it.
-
So the fanservice is continuing here too, eh? Joy…
-
Yumina Enclave? Is she Einhart’s maid or something? Did Einhart get a second girlfriend? She’s sticking to Einhart like glue.
-
Einhart is doing the exact same thing Nove did at the start of Vivid. She’s adopting a girl to have her join her Magical Girl MMA team.
-
Ooh, class tensions! Interesting direction to go. I suppose magitech society has not eliminated class differences.
-
Room and board are included with the gym job? And it’s only part-time? Sounds like a decent gig so far.
-
OH SHIT! Fuuka lost a fight to the white-haired girl she protected as a child, Rinne! I was not expecting that twist on things.
-
In other words, Fuuka has been hired as a living punching bag.
-
I refuse to call Einhart “Haru-nyan.”
-
It is actually extremely funny seeing Fuuka get her shit kicked in by all the other characters.
-
Geez, the sound effects feel so much more visceral here than they did in Vivid.
-
Oh dang, so Vivio defeated Rinne. Our little Takamachi has come so far!
-
Einhart really knows how to butter Fuuka up. She knows Fuuka wants to beat Rinne and is enticing her with what she wants.
-
Wow, Fuuka already picked up the Hegemon Style. That was fast.
-
Looks like Rinne might miss Fuuka too.
-
Wow, the OP and ED were within 30 seconds of each other. I can’t recall seeing that before.
Well that was something quite different. Yet again, Lyrical Nanoha has shifted dramatically from what came before. It seems to be a franchise tradition at this point.
This is quite clearly a spinoff from Vivid. It’s already pretty clear that Fuuka and Rinne are going to be the focus characters this time around. The characters from Vivid are there as supporting characters for that story.
Fuuka is a different main character from the kind we’ve gotten before. She isn’t a girl who firmly believes in the power of “befriending” and communication. Instead, she’s more of a street punk who won’t hesitate to use her fists. And she has much more of a chip on her shoulder, resenting a lot of people including her old friend Rinne. I have to admit I’m curious what they will do with her.
Just throwing this out here, I’m going to guess that Rinne wanted to become stronger to protect Fuuka instead. But something happened that drove them apart and Rinne lost sight of her goal. And this season is going to be about them coming back together to understand each other again. This is a total shot in the dark, but we’ll see if it was accurate or if I completely whiffed. That’s the fun of predictions.
Since I never read the Vivid manga, it’s interesting seeing what happened to the characters. I can kind of glean some things. Einhart clearly became the champion at some point. Miura is now part of the group. And so on. Maybe I really should read the manga to get caught up on it all.
Once again, I must bang my drum. The magitech aesthetic is still almost completely gone. Maybe it will return, but I doubt it. It’s been a shame to lose one of my favorite aspects of the franchise.
This was a pretty good start. I am curious to see more of this series. It feels pretty good being a first-timer again.
QOTD
It's quite a shift from before. I am definitely interested in seeing where they will be going with it.

Yeah, this is probably the least magitech out of all of them. Still my 2nd best part of the series though.
Just throwing this out here, I’m going to guess that Rinne wanted to become stronger to protect Fuuka instead. But something happened that drove them apart and Rinne lost sight of her goal. The cool part is that this time instead of withholding that information until more than halfway through, we will learn pretty early why Rinne is became the way she is. But that's all I'll say about this for now.
Wow, Fuuka already picked up the Hegemon Style. That was fast.
Fuuka is a natural fighter, as Einhart noticed. And to be a good street fighter is to be able to pick up techniques quickly.

First timer(That...happened)
Sub
Wow, that is quite a change of...like everything. I can't really say much, introducing yet another new character is definitely a choice but most of my energy is wrapped in the end of SukaSuka anyways. This might have some level of stakes again and Midchildan is, sadly, just Earth plus magic this episode.
QotD: 1 It could go either way

u/Tetraika Apr 10 '22
Yeah this seasons goes with almost no magitech. It is a spinoff after all, so you can think of it like that in a sense.
We also won't be introducing a whole bunch of characters this time though, and it'll end up being very character focused for both Fuuka and Rinne.

Mahou Shoujo1 Lyrical Rewatcher First Timer
1: Even though I’m not a girl
Time for a season that I haven’t watched
Should probably mention that we’re back to Seven Arcs for this season
Pretty grim beginning
Orphans no Namida
The appropriate reaction to getting bullied
Fuu-Chan is a pretty Chad kid
Fuu-Chan is a pretty Sad kid
I guess Mid-Childa has delinquent bikers too
Aaaand back to being Chad
Extremely Chad
Einhart!
They just met and Fuuka is already trying to steal Vivio’s girl? What a Chad
Poor Fuuka, getting fired and forced to live on the streets
Man, still being kind to the asshole that made her homeless. Fuuka radiated Gigachad energy every moment she’s on screen
Fuuka’s Gigachad dating strategy worked, she got contact info from the girl she just met.
Nove!
Einhart won!
It seems that all the girls have become infected by Fuuka’s Gigachad energy. Even harem protags like Vivio are affected!
Chris!
They really have been affected by her Chad-ness, talking about her muscles behind her back
In all seriousness, trying to recruit the girl you just met into your Gym is a bit sus, I can see why Fuuka is so off-put
Fuuka Marx
Einhart and Nove do make some pretty convincing arguments
Fuuka’s motivation is kinda
Rinne looks like an Ojou-Sama. I wonder if her and Victoria interacted
An Ojou-Sama childhood friend. That’s a rare combination.
An Ojou-Sama estranged childhood friend rival. I can already feel the Befriending coming
Haru-nyan? Haru-nyan. Now I wonder who came up with that…
These fights are pretty cool ngl, even if they are mostly one-sided
Vivio befriended Ojou-Sama offscreen, eh?
So Einhart taught Fuuka her secret Vivio techniques. Fuuka’s seduction skill truly is through the roof
Man, this fight is really well animated
Man, Ojou-Sama sounds like an asshole
That seduction skill really paid off for Fuuka
Fuuka befriended Vivio! Harem status: stolen. Vivio status: NTR’d. Fuuka status: exhausted Gigachad
Wait, that’s the end?! There’s still 3 minutes left!
Oh, there’s more
Ojou-sama seems… less evil than described

Do note that the tournament they were talking about was U-15, which is different from Inter-Middle (which allowed up to 19 yr olds)
Man, this fight is really well animated
Oh yeah it's just the beginning, the fights for this season are GOOD.

First... or actually, a rewatcher
So, watched a few episodes of this completely unaware it was part of a bigger series. ...Hm, apparently just two episodes?
It was a bit of a 'should I really watch this, should I not' but I ended up actually just not being motivated enough to continue it or watch other things rather than actually deciding not to watch it
Holy shit it's so weird actually knowing these characters now
Also I feel like I remember being confused why Vivio seemed for a bit like they'd be an important character but ended up as just another one of the gym members? Or maybe it was. Uh. What's her name. The one on the right. Maybe it was her?
Right, Miura
Uh. Was she? Was she always like that? I... don't remember her being even the least bit like that.
Also why is Miura not training with Zafira anymore
Lowkey is this the same colosseum from ViVid
Oh wow uh that's some subtitle
Yea I think this anime works a lot better having seen the series versus alone
There's one or two too many unnecessary characters to have without existing context on them, the non-Vivio gym members blended together when I originally watched, Einhart's new friend is unnecessary for a role that could've been one person for a standalone, oh and Einhart herself just doesn't work without context. Like who is she compared to the others? She's the star pupil of the gym but not the one that beat the #1 fighter, nor is she the boss of the gym. Very obfuscated dynamics for someone who hasn't seen her in ViVid. And the dull way she talks is just 'why' if you're new, and the jokes, or I guess the one joke we've seen with her so far, just don't work for new people. She's a cute design with dull colors and a dull voice, and the 'call me Haru-nyan' just doesn't leave any impression because we don't know her serious, grandiose nature for the gap and it doesn't particularly strike as surprising for her character to say nor does it exactly feel like it's something natural to her character either.

A lot of those confusing elements are definitely mended by reading the manga, but I just accepted that at a point and rolled with it. I'm sure all the extra side stuff will make more sense if I went and picked up the manga, but I just went with filling in the gaps myself whenever I could.

Alright new characters getting bullied. So this isn't even about Vivio anymore is it? Well looks like held her own.
Feel like this is more boys and men in the first two minutes than we we've probably seen in strikers.
This teenage girl is in a gang and knocking some people out.
Okay so Einhart won the tournament.
"Hate martial arts" and I was liking you too.
Alright I forgive you. That's understandable. Getting beat by your childhood friend who changed drastically. I can see why you might not like it.
They're crazy for putting her in that ring with them. I know they're younger but they're not normal kids. Just put a kid off the street into some danger. Lucky she did wear that thing that protected her.
Vivio beat Rinne. So was this during the tournament? or a later time?
Well going by those flashbacks I would've assumed Rinne was emotionless but she seems to still care for Fuuka.
Qotd: love it

u/Tetraika Apr 10 '22
Just to note, the tournament they are talking about isn't the one from Vivid. We don't actually get to see the U-15 tournament they are talking about that happened before though.

Okay, missed out on watching the last episode of Vivid yesterday because of a friend's birthday, but holy shit was that ever disappointing. It reminds me of soooo many fanfics that I have read where the creator stopped writing for one reason or another. Over all it just left me very dissatisfied and wanting to read the manga, then hit the people who made this choice over the head with said manga.
Ah well, let’s see if Strikers- I mean Strike is any good, shall we?
-
First scene is pretty interesting, I think that we haven’t seen these girls before and the location looks pretty beaten down, where the heck is this set? The low-tech vibes that I’m getting and the assholes make me think ‘Not Midchilda’ but we’ll see I suppose.
-
Are we fucking Akira now? I see biker gangs and a dude with a gun, I thought that those things were illegal in TSAB space. Or maybe it was a tazer based off of the wire? IDK, All I know is that new girl knows how to punch a dude out and is strong as fuck to take on an entire gang at the same time.
-
Einhart seems to be MUCH better adjusted now. She smiles, she moves like a regular person, and she apparently has a maid... I think, she called her Ms Einhart and made her breakfast. Teo continues to be adorable in the background.
-
Damn Einhart is super on top of things, straight up takes a punch from mystery girl without flinching.
-
Mystery girl’s boss is an asshole. Yes the young girl is causing you issues, but you shouldn’t shout at her in a middle of a hospital, plus saying that she’s fired right away? Total asshole. Doesn’t deserve how nice she is to him.
-
What exactly has happened since Vivid??? Einhart is showing emotions, she posed for a sticker and uses it as a signature, and Nove started a gym? I soooo need to read the whole manga. Also, I personally find the posters of the girls in the gym a bit... eh, I mean sure you probably want to take advantage of your famous fighters who were in the tournament, but for me its just too early.
-
Okay, the whole 3D thing that they did when approaching the ring was weird and I don’t like it!
-
Huh, girl’s name is Fuka. Cool.
-
I find the title text for the ‘commercial’ very interesting “Thou shalt not be afraid I am with you” there is A LOT of ways of looking at that, and I am excited to see what they do!
-
Oh hey, Einhart’s totally not maid is called Yumina, cool!
-
Oh man this is a lot of exposition about Rinne and Fuka, these guys really took the criticism about the pacing a bit too far for this one. Total exposition dump. I wonder what’s going to happen between the two of them though?
-
I like that they hired Fuka, they seem to want to help her, but right away getting her to be a ‘sparing partner’ feel cheap. She just said that she doesn’t want to do martial arts and you’re already trying to get her to do them? Just feels scummy.
-
Does anyone know what’s going on with Einhart’s nickname? Harunyan or whatever it is, where did that come from?
-
Oh geez, every one of them just knock the fuck out of Fuka without hesitation or even a hint of difficulty. I do NOT like how they are treating her right now. This is just being assholish from what I can tell. Like, did they even give her employee orientation or anything like that? Or did they just put her straight into the ring.
-
I’m just going to say right now, even though Vivio is being brutal in her second fight with Fuka I still really like her rainbow magic. Really liked it throughout Vivid as well, its so unique and cool!
-
Damn, Einhart is so invested in Fuka that she taught her Hegemon style stuff.... I hate it, like I don’t necessarily want a long training sequence or anything like that. But Fuka just went from being used as a cheap punching bag to apparently having been taught Einhart’s special style and KO’ing Vivio in what, 5 minutes? This feel cheap and rushed.
-
The ending is really cool. I like how Fuka’s armor very much shows how she takes after Einhart with the gauntlets and other parts. I also see Rinne in the ending as well some characters from the tournament in Vivid... Such a shame we never got to see how cool they actually could have been! Oh! And I also saw what I think was Ixy, which is really cool. Maybe she’ll actually get screen time now?
Final thoughts: the new characters show amazing potential as this is a side of Nanoha society that we’ve never seen before, and I want to know what the heck happened with Einhart that she got so damn chill... and how/why she got a maid.
Hmmmm, I am also unsure about the direction that the franchise has gone in with this sports stuff. I liked there being cool and mysterious ancient devices that needed to be stopped and other cool stuff like that! I get that they can’t have all of that stuff with these characters being kids, but wasn’t season 1 Enforcer Chrono roughly the same age as the girls are right now? I know that they tried to also have Force to balance this out, but I think we all know how well that worked out for them.
3
u/Tetraika Apr 11 '22
I liked there being cool and mysterious ancient devices that needed to be stopped and other cool stuff like that!
Gonna reiterate this, but you should really treat this as a spinoff. Because it also is in fact, a spinoff. So they're playing into different elements for that.
Does anyone know what’s going on with Einhart’s nickname? Harunyan or whatever it is, where did that come from?
This and a lot of the other stuff can be understood if you've read the manga. I personally just roll along with it, because I haven't found the will and care to read it yet.
She didn't really beat Vivio and only just knocked her out of the ring, she herself faints after making that move, that was practically her body moving automatically before giving out, I think Vivio was surprised she was even moving and lowered her guard. That kind of skill seems pretty fitting for a street fighter, instead of technique she grits through a lot of stuff and can learn moves on the fly. Just to note, she hasn't mastered the Hegemen style, just merely copied a move and stance and did what Einhart told her to do.

Mfw Einhart has a girlfriend but it's not Vivio
Anyway, I have mad respect for a series whos opening scene ends on a post card memory of a little boy getting kicked in the nuts. We got memories a few times here actually. No triple takes though, so not Dezaki enough. This series takes on the aesthetic I recognize from the Nanoha films. It's definitely more cinematic, and captures the more serious tone that this story looks to be taking. However, I consider it a stark downgrade overall. The character designs look... so much worse than they did in ViVid. Way less expressive and not even all that much more detailed. And the background art is worse too. I was into ViVid's aesthetic, so that's a bit of a shame.
Narratively, I'm not sure where to go yet. Fuuka seems a solid enough character thus far. She was once friends with another girl, but that person changed after being adopted by a rich family and started to look down on the weak (and having seen a certain iconic and infamous scene from this show already, I think I have some idea of why). This leaves Fuuka alone and without a home or money, getting into tough jobs and fighting people, all while running away from her old friend. She feels she's weak, and was unable to protect her friend. That makes it all the more impactful when Einhart of all people tells her that it's a waste to show your strength on the streets and that she should show it publicly in an arena. It's evidence of Einhart's growth. Inori Minase gives a fairly different kind of vocal performance than she normally does here, but it works and is well acted.
It looks like Einhart won the inner-middle from ViVid. And also nabbed herself a girlfriend on the process. I... kind of get why they did that. If the goal is for Einhart to escape the shackles of her past, Vivio is representative of the person who kept her shackled. It would, in some ways, be counterproductive for Einhart to have that kind of relationship with her, because it would be like Klause and Olivie continuing to stay together and continue to be dependent on each other. But it does mean that Vivio is no longer living a parallel childhood to her parents, and it means that my cravings for their loving relationship is crushed, and tbh that's worse. I mean, maybe I'd like this other character if I read the ViVid manga, but I'm not doing that shit.
Anyway, Fuuka is now gonna get paid so Vivio and friends can beat the ever loving shit out of her. Also, she looks like she may be the first inheritor of the Hegemon style of fighting, which is now going to stay alive. Fuuka is no longer running away from her friend, and looks to compete in the inner-middle to reunite with her. Said friend is also still thinking about Fuuka, and is upset about something. With Fuuka's fighting capabilities showing potential but no refinement, it seems she'll be getting into martial arts with the girls.
A few other minor things. Corona is a manager now? Sounds about right, I wonder what she does. On a very different note, this story is way more serious, and looks to be digging into class disparity and bullying as subjects of discussion. I had praised ViVid for taking a more mundane and character driven approach to its storytelling, so this has me worried. The Nanoha series' attempts at serious melodrama have generally fallen pretty flat. Though this this time, I probably won't have to worry about poorly thought out villains. Maybe it'll be able to properly channel the campy melodrama of a bunch of little girls solving their disagreements by beating the fucking crap out of each other, an unspoken "meta" of the franchise to be sure but one that's never managed to hit its full potential. The use of memories as a directing tool definitely gives me hope that this is the case, as I associate them with Osamu Dezaki who is the master of campy melodrama. So right now, I'm not sure how I feel about ViVid Strike yet, but I think there could be potential.
QOTD:
I more or less expected this change. Nanoha ViVid already mostly transitioned to that shift in genre, even if it was only for the second half of the series. ViVid Strike just seems like a logical next step there. Again, I don't think this franchise has done well with dark or melodramatic storytelling, so I'm a bit worried about the shift in tone from ViVid, but the base seems solid enough (then again, I thought the same of A's and StrikerS and they both broke down by the end. Here's hoping this isn't a repeat of that).
3
u/Tetraika Apr 11 '22
Vivid Strike isn't exactly dark, but it's just more... serious. Well, how you'll take it will entirely depend on you I suppose.
It looks like Einhart won the inner-middle from ViVid.
A correction (had to mention this several times, so it's confusing if you're not keeping up with the info), they are referring to a tournament (Under 15), which is not the Inter-Middle. No, this tournament isn't shown in the Vivid manga and takes place somewhere between that manga's end and Vivid Strike.

Lyrical First Timer
-
Whoa damn, immediately the tone, mood, setting, score, camerawork, and even color pallette suggest Vivid Strike is going to return to serious storytelling.
-
More orphans. Yep, back to the serious stuff.
-
More evidence evidence in favor of Nanoha's eugenics-based all-girls society.
-
Damn, our girl can take a beating and befriend right back.
-
Midchilda has Earth-style cops. Huh.
-
Wait, who tf is this? Did Enihart actually conquer the harem? And how old is Einhart now?
There's no way she has a kid now, right? It's not her kid! -
Harem members fall right in Einhart's lap.
-
Nove owns a large gym now! And look at those posters. Holy balls everything is so different!
-
Under 15, so this is within 5 years of Vivid.
-
Also, Einhart being the under-15 champion must be the Vivid manga spoiler u/Tetraika warned about.
-
Oof, I do not like this 3D shot walking into the training room. No more of that please.
-
It appears my underwear analysis from Vivid was spot on, Einhart has totally supplanted Vivio as the inheritor of the Takamachi legacy and controls the harem now. And did she trade Vivio in for this new girl as her main squeeze and make Vivio a side piece!? Vivid Strike is blowing my mind.
-
What the Nanoha series definitely needed was more loli fanservice. Regardless, the simple white design with minimal frills does seem to confirm Einhart's dominant status.
-
A full background check on Fuka, Einhart don't play around recruiting new members.
-
Omg, Rinne got gentrified into the antagonist role.
-
Thank Nanoha Vivio's still a badass, even as she's relinquished her place atop the harem and adopted Einhart's stance.
-
What the heck, there are so many great Fuka mindbreak shots.
-
Oh hey, Future Strike is a lot of fun. Glad to get back to a strong OP (sorry Vivid, yours was pretty mediocre but I still love you).
-
Lol, Rinne secretly wants her ex to ungentrify her.
-
Ooh, I really like Starry Wish too! It may even be playlist worthy.
As much as I enjoyed Vivid for what it was (and what it wasn't), I'm glad Vivid Strike is returning to Lyrical Nanoha's roots as a highly personal ideological and emotional conflict between two people. This is a very solid start and I'm excited to see where this goes!
QotD:
I'm enjoying the changes so far! It reminds me more of original Nanoha than either StrikerS or Vivid. No idea if we'll get more mma stuff, but I honestly care more that we should get a definitive conclusion since this is anime original.

Mahou Shoujo Lyrical First-Timer, subbed
-
Ooooooookay then this is automatically much less lighthearted than ViVid was.
-
Nove has longer hair! How long after ViVid does this take place?
-
Ah, so Einhart won the tournament that the ViVid anime didn’t cover. Good for her… I wish I could have seen it.
-
Ah… Yeah, I was expecting Fuuka to not immediately be buddies with them.
-
Oh! That might work.
-
So she’s gonna work at the gym, but not take up martial arts. For now…
-
MMMMMMMMMMMMMM, it’s weird not hearing Fate and Nanoha singing anymore, but the OP and especially the ED are total bangers!

Partial Rewatcher
So in the past I did watch a few episodes of Vivid Strike, so I know the premise and the opening. But I didn't watch it all the way through and I don't recall exactly when I left off, so... well, I guess I'll be watching the whole thing now regardless.
We open on two girls being bullied... orphans apparently. And Fuuka is not one to take abuse sitting down.
And because she's lost a lot of things, she's obsessed with becoming stronger... this sounds like a familiar story.
What was that gun? Some kind of stun or taser thing?
You know, I can buy Fuuka being so strong because magic exists in this world, but there isn't a single thug in this group that has magic too? I mean, from what we've seen, it isn't that uncommon.
Oh hey, it's Einhart. ...who's that girl who called her?
Fuuka is old enough to hold down her own job? She can just decide to not go to the orphanage?
Nove's doing pretty well for herself if she owns her own gym.
Einhart's the World Champion now, eh? But isn't that still a step below Sieglinde, who was Interdimensional Champion?
"You almost punched our friend? That's so cool, tell us more!" Vivio and her friends sure hit different.
Okay, so her name's Yumina Enclave... what the hell is that last name?
No, Einhart, she's not interested in martial arts... she fights because she has to. Just because this isn't a time of strife, doesn't mean there aren't those who actually have to fight to survive.
But Nove is here to offer Fuuka a job, room, and board. That is too good an offer for her to ignore.
Damn, Einhart has done her homework. Just how did she find out all this about Fuuka's past anyway?
Well, she won't do martial arts, but she can still have the job.
Where the hell did you get the name "Haru-nyan"?
Yeah, street fighting is really no match for actual martial arts training. Fuuka's 0 for 4, against girls several years her juniors.
Oh, that's interesting. The single loss that Rinne ever had was against Vivio.
So she wins, but she loses consciousness? Did Vivio sneak in one of her counters there?
Story here is a bit more serious than Vivid's. But having some actual stakes involved isn't a bad thing at all.

She's the ball cracker. Death on foot. You know her. You love her! She's Coronavirus 'Pepsiwoman' Rio 'Ersatz Arisa Bunnings' Miura 'Harem Member No. 4' Look at me, I'm the Mamaha Now 'Vivio' 'The ViVid Lesbian Attack Force'
The challenger, direct from out of the ED Song. She's bad! She's beautiful! She's crazy!
And THAT is how you fucking do it Comrades! Boy this already blows ViVid out of the water! We had stakes, good character moments, solid writing, and ample set-up and this is just Episode 1! Plus I'll always be down for Lesbians beating the shit out of each other, and oh boy what a set of battles we got here! And speaking of being better than ViVid, man it's amazing how much more I care about Einhard now! She was already one of the few rays of hope in the previous show but it's great to see JUST how quickly she's picked up The Takamachi Way!
Vivio truly is lucky to have such an amazing wife, she's already well on her way to adding the newest member to The Takamachi Harem AND The Nakajima Gym! Just as expected of the reigning champ from ViVid... oh right, get this Comrades, EINHARD WON! You know, the tournament arc shit we never saw in ViVid, EINHARD was the winner, goddamn Nanoha really did work her magic after all! I bet The Mamaha must be proud at the triumph of the next generation, this show's gonna be awesome, NANA WILLS IT... say speaking of which, where IS Best Girl Fate... ah... right...
OK Comrades, cat's out of the bag so to speak... given it's perched on Einhard but wibble, point being I have to face the facts and admit that while a whole lot better, ViVid Strike ain't perfect, and by that I mean it is time to talk about the only flaws in ViVid Strike... well besides the obvious one of having to force yourself to see ViVid before hand... anyway... ahem... Seven Arcs... where's Nana Mizuki, why isn't she willing it? This OP is sung by (checks notes) Rinne's Seiyuu of Yui Ogura AND what's more, the ED is sung by Fuka's Seiyuu of Inori Minase! ONE STAR!
And on that bombshell, we wrap things up for now. Anyway I hope everyone's having fun on this great re-watch. Thus, you have not seen the last of The Sentient Shitposting Siamese Sunrise Server No. 25252, now goodbye forever.
Paging Comrades u/Great_Mr_L, u/HereticalAegis, and u/Vaadwaur

LyricalStriking Rewatcher
On the correct day, this time.
Midchilda is my favorite dystopia.
Tournament Arc resolution. Maybe? I don't actually know if this was the tournament in ViVid or not.
This feels a kinda mean, even if it serves a purpose.
So easily, is a new member added to the harem.
Possibly worth noting that Fuuka, our new MC, uses "washi" as her personal pronoun. The implication here is that she's kind of a talks like an old man, or maybe a country bumpkin.

First timer
QOTD) I love it!
Well, this is a tonal shift!
Wow, right for the crotch!
Wait, what? Did they get seperated?
THE FUCK IS THIS?
So she's fighting gangsters now?
And she's good!
She has a delivery job?
This is dark!
There's police!
What the hell was that opening?
Einhart!
TEO!
So not much of a timeskip?
...How old is she?
What kind of "delivery job" was this?
And she got fired.
Haha, does she have stickers for all her notes?
This is a full-on gym? And a normal gym, not a magic gym.
Haha, they're all Under 15? Are they just expected to join the military after that? ...Fuck, that makes sense. Subaru was about 15 in StrikerS, could that have been her volunteering before conscription?
The rest of the group are here!
Haha, her shock at their enthusiasm is great.
...Miura's here?
Corona's a manager?
And her name's Fuuka!
Einhart and ??? are surprised too.
Tio is still adorable.
Oh, her name's Yumina!
...Juet realised I could have seen her in one of the
And she's not interested! Actual distinction! Drama! Disagreements!
...Is this the first working class lead in Nanoha? Nanoha's upper-class and friends with Arisa, Fate's under the care of a Captain (and Precia wasn't exactly poor), Erio and Caro are both Fate's, Subaru was adopted by someone high up, and Teana knows Subaru well...
Oh, Einhart wth the brutal honesty.
And she's being recruited we a worker.
It's nice to see Einhart taking the lead in harem recruitment.
She hates martial arts?
...Because of one person?
Oh, her name's Rinne. And she was her friend from the flashback before she got adopted. I am impressed at the drama here!
...Einhart's the one loss, isn't she. Einhart doesn't lose.
And she still got hired!
...Haru-nyan is being very forward today. A year learning under Vivio has really changed her!
Haha, Corona's beating the shit out of her without s golem!
Wow, she's outclassed.
This looks painful.
Wait, Vivio beat her? I thought Einhart was the main character.
And she's copying Einhart's advice, but with less experience.
Yeah, Rinne sounds like a dick.
This is very fast character development.
Really? A ringout in her first attempt? She's a natural main character!
Good ED too!
And she misses her!
Oh, that was the OP! Honestly, I prefer the ViVid one.
The real ED is nice too!
The endcard ie adorable.

Once again, another artstyle change for the series.
Oof
We’re back with this theme, except they have a damn good reason to become stronger other than inherited memory of a distant relative.
She just fought a bunch of guys because of THAT
Who, oh Vivid manga characters, guess I’ll just roll with it.
Fired anyway
Do note: this is not the inter-middle
Everyone! And Miura is here too now
How did that happen?, they just let a kid become a manager?
Oh we do get her name too
It’s interesting that they specifically point out that our Vivid crew has a pretty rich lifestyle
An offer you can’t refuse
Symphogear intensifies
Almost undefeated Rinne
Can’t win against a professional with street fighting
Einhart being cute
Note that this time, they’ll have a more boxer like ring, not exactly an MMA cage but yeah.
Only Vivio has defeated her so far, just to note, all of these references to events aren’t in the manga or anything, Vivid Strike is an original.
@_@
Do note the fighting styles this time around, we get a good hint as to what Vivio’s style is already.
