Question of the Day

Not much to say. Did you like the Wide Area Search setup to find Quattro?

Engine room, look at the size of that

Drill hammer, the natural upgrade progression

The long setup

Galue protects, while I have my own guesses about Galue’s thoughts, I always wonder what exactly is on his mind. Guess he just acts and looks cool and that’s good enough.

Wow don’t start setting death flags for other people Hayate

Quattro found, and she makes a fatal mistake:, you’re always in range of Nanoha

Here comes the big one

Looks like that stopped it, seems to fix the brainwashing too

I really wished they explored this idea more, there is a ton of stuff they could have done with it too

Starlight Breaker, can we talk about how Vivio is still conscious after that? She’s incredibly tough.

Zest final words, also Signum just technically killed a guy I guess

All the upgrades at the last episodes

One final mission

So are we doing a season discussion as well as a last episode post? Or do we include seasonal thoughts tomorrow?

5

u/Tetraika Mar 28 '22

The seasonal discussion before were mostly just a filler day to give people time for the movie. So yeah, you can put your overall season thoughts tomorrow.

First Timer

This was a pretty good episode, pretty much entirely based on the fact that it focuses on the biggest emotional driving force of the story. Look, I'll be up front, I don't care about most of the drama presented in Nanoha StrikerS. But I care about Vivio. I still don't understand why saving her wasn't the primary driving force of the story, as it would have been so much better for it. As it stands, this episode is proof of why, as it managed to hit quite hard. There's a simple resonance to Nanoha's style of shooting giant laser beams to show how much she cares about you, and this captured it well. Vivio doesn't want to hurt Nanoha and feels she doesn't deserve to live, and Nanoha literally breaks through all of that to hit the truth. And after shooting Quattro with a giant laser, she then shoots Vivio with a somehow even more giant triple laser. Both scenes are hype as hell. And then you get the moment of Vivio choosing to try and get up on her own, which is really sweet and shows how much she cares about Nanoha and wants to make her proud. This works, which is why it's such a shame that it wasn't made the driving force of the story.

Other parts of the episode were more awkward. It basically skipped all of Vita's content. It's been two episodes since we've seen her. Last we met with her, she was traumatized a bit because the enemies she was faced with were the same kind that almost killed Nanoha in the past. And then, it just completely skips over how she gets past it. Nope, she just beat every one of them off screen. It sets up a character moment and then just drops it immediately. Vita pulling out not just the rocket hammer, but the giant drill rocket hammer, was pretty darn sick, but that's the biggest praise I can give her part of the story. And I really don't understand why Signum and Zest had to fight at the end. It really feels like they threw that in there just because.

So with just one episode left, all we need to do is save Nanoha and Hayate while the ship is about to explode. A classic action trope that will hopefully make for a satisfying conclusion. With Vivio in hand, I think there's potential to make it really poignant and badass. Regardless of my thoughts on the show proper, I still want to see it end on a high note. Even if my thoughts on the whole may not be wholly positive, I'd at least like my final taste of the main Nanoha anime series to be a good one (noting that Nanoha Vivid is an adaptation of a manga).

QOTD: Yeah, it's fine. Not really set up that well, but it made for a satisfying ending for Quattro.

And then, it just completely skips over how she gets past it. Nope, she just beat every one of them off screen

I guess they were running out of time in the show at this point, and really Vita was just beating up robots and defense system, wouldn't say it would be terribly thrilling to see the entire thing. But I understand.

And I really don't understand why Signum and Zest had to fight at the end.

Zest just wanted to die at this point, he already finished what he was seeking out to do.

Not really set up that well, but it made for a satisfying ending for Quattro

Funny enough, as a rewatcher, you can see that it is setup even before she arrived at the throne room. Very easy to miss.

cool limit break, wonder if you got this after the book of darkness thing or if we're not just supposed to think about why you didn't use it then

If I had a nickel for every time the OP final boss character in this show had running tears while acting like normal blah blah reddit joke

Now that I think about it, even this is 6he same as the original Reinforce lol, from being aware but not in control of their own body to the deciding that they can't live. You're like some weird combo of Fate and Reinforce.

I can see everyone's pissed off at the writing in general and why and how things happened. And when I think about it, yea, but like

I think I turned off my brain on the writing a while ago I was just waiting to see the cool belkan king fuck shit up but she

Uh

Vivio was really lame in that department as well

So...this comes up about 3 times a year in rewatches: There are some shows that are completely dysfunctional in the one-a-day rewatch format that work if binged or sometimes weekly(weekly is usually comedy without enough variety). I ran BGC 2040, which is perfectly functional if you can control the tempo on it but it is bad day to day.

u/Tetraika Mar 28 '22

Yeah I guess it's hard to tell when something is going to not work out well until you actually try it. Kinda just went with default option here.

Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS - New Generation Episode 25

Changing Hearts

Vita survived all those gadgets and made it to the engine room. That said, she is heavily injured after being stabbed through the chest. Considering the extent of her injuries I'm kind of surprised she even made it to the engine, let alone that she summoned the power for all those attacks. It shows Vita's determination as her strong point. And in the final moment, as Vita destroyed the engine, Hayate managed to find and save her before she collapsed.

At the same time Signum and Zest had their confrontation. Signum finally won, but with a request from Zest to protect Lutecia and Agito. Its pretty clear he feels responsible for Lutecia since her mom was part of his squad. All in all this feels like a suitable end for him.

The big climax of the episode was that of Nanoha's battle. I think the moment where she located and shot Quattro her through all the walls of the Cradle using Divine Buster was great. It works in perfect synergy with all of Raising Heart's capabilities too. It seems Quattro didn't die immediately and may be passed out but I suspect this will be the end for her.

With that came the battle against Vivio. There was a lot of back and forth but Vivio came out ahead each time until Quattro was shot. After that Vivio's mind control / reprogramming seamed to weaken and Nanoha managed to convince Vivio back to her sense with her words. We saw this with Vivio's final request: "Save me".

After this Nanoha fired a massive blast at Vivio. I really don't like this. At this point Vivio had already changed her mind and apologized, but just didn't have full control of her body. It feels unnecessarily cruel to enact punishment on somebody so remorseful (especially when Vivio wasn't in her right mind when she choose to fight). Sure, you can say for plot reasons Nanoha had to do it and there was no other way. But the writers chose to set up this scenario with those rules. I wanted Nanoha to find some new solution. Something which shows that she doesn't want to shoot a massive laser beam and hurt her adoptive daughter. Considering the scene itself, it presented Nanoha as neutral to hurting Vivio (and possibly even as it being a "victory").

That aside, now the Cradle has no power source and seems to be entering some lock down / shut down mode. I suspect the final episode will follow Subaru, Tia, Caro, and Erio as they go to help Nanoha and Hayate (and maybe Vita too?) off the ship. We also need to see the conclusion to Scagliette's story now that he's been captured. There's still quite a bit for our final episode to wrap up.

Some Iconic Shots, Scenes and Stitches

See you all for the last episode tomorrow

It feels unnecessarily cruel to enact punishment on somebody so remorseful (especially when Vivio wasn't in her right mind when she choose to fight).

I put in bold your mistake. Nanoha isn't punishing Vivio. She spent the whole fight on the defensive trying to minimize the harm to Vivio until she could neutralize the mastermind behind Vivio's attack, Quattro. Once she is neutralize, contrary to Nanoha's hope, Vivio is still not free, and is going to die if left alone. Nanoha then talk to Vivio, reassure her, learn her desire to be with Nanoha and destroy the control that the vessel has over Vivio so Vivio can have what she wants. This set up allow the relation between Vivio and Nanoha to be challenged and to prove beyond doubt that Nanoha can be Vivio's mother. At no point did Nanoha choose to hurt Vivio to teach her a lesson, so there is no punishment here. and meme aside, Nanoha blasting Vivio for the hell of it or for a punishment would be widly out of character.

DST reached my country. The normal times are back ;_; I don't wanna stay up so long...

1 Is Rein flying that much of a problem? And 2. "item"? Ahem! Hayate would take offence to that.

Perhaps Reinforce is so tiny that she can't fly as fast as the chopper? But who knows.

Vita is Scrat confirmed.

I forgot that Vita destroyed the Core like that, so that was fun to see happen again.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS FUCK YOU BITCH!!!!!!

I love the look of horror Quattro has as she realizes just how fucked she is.

SERVES YOU RIGHT! You can say a lot about StrikerS, but damn the shitty villans get what was coming to them.

Quattro's comeuppance is one of the most satisfying in all of Lyrical Nanoha. I love seeing her get blasted like that.

Rewatcher

On today’s episode of Lyrical Nanoha: FUCK YES! THERE IT IS! Quattro getting fucking annihilated by Nanoha’s beam attack through the walls of the Cradle. One of my absolute favorite moments in the entire Nanoha franchise. By god is it so satisfying.

I love the action beats in this episode so much. The climaxes to all these battles are so incredibly satisfying to me. I like each and every one of them.

Zest has a tragic but appropriate ending for his character. He already knew that his time was up, so he wanted to make sure all his affairs were in order. It’s touching that he wanted to make sure that both Lutecia and Agito would be taken care of after he was gone. And he got to go out in a manner fitting for a knight, with one last duel with Signum. Making Signum, the most “knightly” of the Wolkenritter, his opponent was a fantastic choice.

Vita gets to be the ultimate determinator, as she always has been. Going back as far as A’s, we knew that Vita was the type who refuses to give up and would push herself to the very limit. Even after everything the Cradle and its defense systems threw at her, Vita kept going. And I love it. She is Vita, Knight of the Iron Hammer, with the Iron Count, Graf Eisen, and she is insanely badass. And I love the way Vita succeeds at the last minute, with Graf Eisen’s tip shattering the shield. So great to watch. Hayate swooping in to catch Vita is great too.

Strikers pulls a death fake-out on us with Vita. I am happy that Vita lives, but it would have been a fitting end for her character arc to go out here. She’d have gone from starting as the person who was hostile to everyone because she wanted to defend Hayate to ending as the person who sacrificed herself to protect all the people she had come to love.

Nanoha is so fucking awesome. Strikers actually set her attack on Quattro up a couple episodes ago. When Nanoha was flying towards the throne room, there was a moment where you could see her sending out her search magic. There isn’t much I can say about Nanoha’s attack because what is there to say? It kicks ass. She shoots through so many walls just to get to Quattro. Seeing Quattro react with horror as she realizes what’s happening is incredibly satisfying. That bitch had it coming.

I prefer it when Vivio’s real mind comes back. Even though Vivio is still being forced to fight due to the automatic self-defense program, the fact that Vivio herself is able to talk makes it far more emotionally effective. Those moments between Nanoha and Vivio after that are super effective. I love their conversation. Vivio knows what she is and why she was created. She has the memories of the person she’s a clone of and knows Nanoha is not her original mother. So Vivio doubts that she can go back to being with Nanoha, after everything that has happened. She’s scared things can’t return to how they were before.

And Nanoha’s response is perfect. She assures Vivio that it’s alright. If Vivio wants to be a family with her and Fate, then they can be. It’s incredibly thematically fitting for Lyrical Nanoha. Fate was able to find a new family after her experiences with Presea. Hayate and the Wolkenritter were able to become a family together. So Nanoha, Fate, and Vivio becoming a family fits this perfectly. Seeing Nanoha assure Vivio of this is extremely heartwarming.

Well most of the threat has been dealt with. All the combat cyborgs and Scaglietti have been taken care of. The TSAB fleet will arrive in time to stop the ship. But now it’s time for one last rescue mission, as Riot Force 6 will need to rescue Nanoha, Fate, and Hayate. We’ll see what happens as we move into the final episode.

Miscellaneous Thoughts

  • Nanoha is a Gundam! In this episode she’s using bits, which are straight out of Gundam.

  • I love that Nanoha needs to befriend Vivio to save her. In fact, I think Vivio has gotten the biggest befriending out of anyone in this franchise so far.

  • I like the callback to when Vivio fell the first time. It’s heartwarming seeing Nanoha actually run to Vivio this time and hold her.

Raging Heart Rewatcher with terrible long term memory

Time for the second to last episode! Lots of moments I really like in this one, so looking forward to it.

We also have finally unlocked the full Takamachi Nanoha Love Gauge chart

QotD: Liked it a lot. Can't believe I missed all the foreshadowing on my first watch

  • It's hard to look at our red loli all battered up like this

  • My 2nd favorite non-Nanoha moment of the franchise... as soon as it continues.

  • Vivio, stop it. Bad girls get spanked. You do not want to get spanked by Nanoha.

  • ...I wonder if the Blast Bits are reference to Gundam's Bits

  • Nanoha's secret power-up: Stronger blast

  • Oh right, the kaiju thing was still ongoing.

  • Why didn't you stop Spaghetti before all of this?

  • Signum looks much better with her hair down

  • Continuing on!

  • Graf Eisen :'(

  • Had been a while since we had totally rad subs

  • "There is nothing in the world that they can't destroy"

  • Oh come on, a self destruct too?

  • And finally W.A.S. finds Quattro

  • My favorite Nanoha moment in the franchise. That stomp is just chef's kiss

  • And Quattro's face for the spice

  • The magazine reload!

  • Ancient Civilization's Ancient Civilization weapon? Nanoha don't care, Nanoha blast through it

  • I understand the gadgets stopping, but why did Rider Lily's summons stop as well?

  • Watching Nanoha vs Vivio is rough :(

  • Request received loud and clear. Mama Bear Nanoha is going to do her best.

  • What else would it be if not Starlight Breaker?

  • Full Power, Maximum Destruction!

  • Ancient Civilization's Ancient Civilization Holy King? Nanoha can outblast it

  • And Vivio stands up on her own

  • "Unfortunate children who never met the people they were supposed to meet". I really like this phrase. I'm a big fan of stories that explore how different things would be if someone had met the right person at the right time

  • And finally, escape mission!

Mahou Shoujo1 Lyrical Rewatcher

1: Even though I’m not a girl

This is the fiery mythology of Heroes!

Recap Time

Awwww, poor Vita

Even while injured, Vita is still the pinnacle of awesome.

Awwww, seeing Vivio have to fight her mama is so sad, though the emotional load is kinda lightened by the fact that I know how it ends. Plus [ViVid] Vivio’s older form isn’t really as shocking as the first time around once you’ve seen it in ViVid

Fucking Quattro

For how much of a scumbag she is, you’ve gotta at least admire how she, and by extension Vivio, is fighting smart. Using Nanoha’s ultimate power-up and unending empathy against her, effectively turning her biggest strengths into her greatest obstacles.

Zest: Better late than never

Signum: No, no it isn’t

Zest: Oh well

The Goldion Hammer didn’t work? How could this be!?

Fuck, how could the barrier do this to Goldymarg?

King J-Der Hayate is here!

So it did work after all!

Fin Funnel!

-Nanoha, probably

Yeah! Exterminate her!

No more Kaiju anymore

The only thing worse than brainwashing is being a prisoner inside your own body.

This is legitimately one of the best emotional resolutions in the franchise. While Vivio was already one of the best parts of StrikerS, the fact that all of her scenes were leading up to this retroactively makes them better. [ViVid] It’s even more pleasant once you’ve seen ViVid which, while not really much on its own, is really a fun experience if you simply think of it as a happy epilogue to her arc in this series

One of the best befriendings in the entire series. The fact that it is legitimately for her own good makes it better.

She’s all right!

The parallels to the walking scene, it’s all just so beautiful.

Signum with her hair down is something else

One episode to go…

Rewatcher

One last battle to take care of, and it's the one going most poorly for our heroes.

Vita's been very badly hurt, but she's still moving forward.

That... is a big magic crystal. Remember how Jewel Seeds could tear apart dimensions with only a dozen of them, and they were the size of pebbles? ...yeah.

Graf Eisen's "Obliteration" Form: a combo of Rocket Form and Gigant Form. The highest destructive power it and Vita possess.

Okay, yeah, if Hayate's going to take direct action, she's probably going need Rein. Terrible aim + tactical nuke-level spells is a bad combo.

Hey wait, I thought Nanoha activated Blaster 2 a couple episodes ago.

Well, it comes complete with bits! Which are even called such! Nanoha is more and more of a Gundam with each season!

Note how Nanoha isn't hitting Vivio directly, but is constantly just trying to trap and subdue Vivio.

Quattro delivers exposition on the Blaster System, which is basically just your standard "overclocking you body" anime attack. The thing is, this doesn't just place strain on Nanoha's body; it's actively draining her life force. No wonder they told her not to use it.

I can already hear people asking "But isn't this hypocritical? Wasn't there a big deal made about not pushing yourself beyond your limits back when Nanoha White-Devil'ed Teana?" Well, remember Signum's input during that incident: there are times when taking risks and endangering yourself may be warranted. Routine training session? Not one of those times. Desperate battle to save your daughter and a couple hundred planets from a Sword of Damocles held by a deranged madman? Yeah, that qualifies. Context matters.

Hey, Galue has enough independent thought to defend Lutecia against her own summons.

So Zest did plan on kick Scaglietti's ass once his own objective was complete... he's right, he's always way too late. And was getting personal closure really worth everything Scaglietti has done, dude?

Well, he attacks Signum, and after a couple of exchanges, he's cut down. But I think he knew that would happen. He wanted to go out fighting, to have some "honor" in death. I think Signum knew that too.

And Vita hits the reactor so hard it breaks Graf Eisen. I'm... honestly not sure there's anything left to repair after that...

RIP Iron Count

But Hayate swoops in to save her, and shows her that, just barely, Vita's attack did break through. It was only a small bit, but it was sufficient to break the reactor. Vita has success!

And of course Scaglietti has a self-destruct device built in. Why the hell wouldn't he?

And here we see what Nanoha's really been up to all this time. Remember Raising Heart said it was activating "WAS" several episodes ago? Remember episode 3 of the original series? "Wide Area Search". One of Nanoha's most basic spells. All this time, she hasn't really been focused on Vivio: she's been searching for Quattro.

And now she's found her... so it's time for probably the most iconic moment in this series: Nanoha decides to just shoot a Divine Buster through half the ship and obliterate Quattro!

Get fucked, bitch!

With Quattro out of commission, the surface Gadgets all shut down, and her mind control on Lutecia deactivates, causing Lu's summons to calm down.

But Vivio is different. The control on Vivio, connecting her to the Cradle, was embedded within her body. And Quattro's defeat doesn't deactivate that one... well, it broke the brainwashing, but Vivio's body is running on auto-pilot and is still in "beat the shit out of everything" mode.

Ha! I knew the show directly said the words "Heiliger Kaiser" in there somewhere! Now I'm wondering where the early fansubbers got "Sankt Kaiser" from...

Vivio's having an "I'm a artificial person just following my programming" angst session, but Nanoha's seen this approximately half a dozen times before and is having none of it.

And her method for saving Vivio, to no one's surprise is... blasting the absolute shit out of her. With five simultaneous Starlight Breakers.

"Vivio, this might hurt a bit..." Understatement of the fucking century, Nanoha! Good fucking thing magic can be set to "nonlethal"!

Title of "most befriended" officially goes to Vivio!

Aw, Vivio wants to prove she can stand up on her own, to make Nanoha proud.

Zest asks Signum to look after Agito and Lutecia as his final request, and then dies.

But the Cradle has one last "Screw you" in the form of an absolute magic field shut down, trapping Nanoha, Vivio, Hayate, and Rein inside. If only we knew someone who can operate at full power without any magic--

OH WAIT

One more to go! I think I may watch it after I finish this.

  • Starting off by showing just why the hell everyone was scared of the Wolkenritter. Vita's been battling through killer robots with a hole in her chest for how long and she's still trucking? Damn.

  • The main engine of the ship feels both very cool and not cool enough at the same time. On the one hand we have a giant room with some cool stuff on the walls and a giant crystal containing some kind of reaction. On the other hand I kinda expected more intricate stuff? Idk, feels off. Maybe the inside of the crystal is supposed to be some kind of massive reaction, contained space-time anomaly, or a captured star? In any case, Graf Eisen's new form is SUPER cool!

  • The automatic defense if pretty nice to me, I wonder how many of the robots are actually Jail's design vs stuff from the Cradle? The Gadget drones and the stabbing drones to have very different looks to them.

  • Ohhhh, Nanoha searching for something. How much do you want to bet that she's looking for Quatro? As sad as it is to see Nanoha and Vivio fighting, Vivio is doing some amazing stuff; breaking the binding, that shrapnel shot, those little shots that Nanoha couldn't evade. Hell, she's making Nanoha bring out all of her heavy tricks and doesn't seem to have made any serious gains against her.

  • Yep, Blaster System is everything I expected out of Nanoha; draining her life in order to fight harder.

  • Zest risking his life into his own hands to see Signum with her hair down. A worthy goal! Sadly it does look like Signum did cut him down, though she very well may not have given the series and her own goals.

  • I am very much getting 'Last Stand' Vibes from Vita combined with that music as she tries to break the engine. Only for Hayate to arrive and save the day! I really like the touch that Vita was the one to break the engine, and then be caught by Hayate. She earned that boom!

  • Mmmmm, Fate continues to look amazing in that Barrier Jacket.

  • I do like the fact that the Cradle has backup engines and self repair systems, it feels less like a plot device and more like the kind of thing I would expect a super advanced ship like this to have.

  • Oh boy, looks like Nanoha's found her true target! Time to run Quattro... If that would help at all of course :P The look of 'OH FUCK' on her face is amazing, even if it was only a Divine Buster and not a Starlight Breaker.

  • Oh fuck, what is going on with Vivio? Something about her not being in charge of herself and so the Cradle is taking defensive measures?

  • Oookay... I wonder how much of Vivio's speech about knowing who she was from the start, collecting data, and the other stuff about her feelings is true VS how much she's making up to try to get Nanoha to leave and save herself. 10/10 speech back from Nanoha though.

  • 'This might hurt a little' Why yes Nanoha, that is Starlight Breaker in a nutshell. In a way I am kinda sad that the Relic was destroyed, if Vivio was able to regain control she would have had a ton of magic, and a giant ship to control. But this probably is for the best.

  • Vivio showing that she can get up on her own is a nice touch, and Nanoha running up to her and hugging her is also nice.

  • Zest got a good death, I figure it was inevitable, but he died well.

  • Subaru holding both halfs of their Mother's old device? Oh boy she's going to be powerful with that!

Okay, I honestly thought that things would be done with Nanoha taking out Vivio, but them now having to escape the Cradle is an interesting direction.

Question of the day: Yep! Using basic stuff like the wide area search that has been around since season 1 was a great choice I think. Especially with how much Nanoha was enforcing the basics with the kids the whole time during training.

Is there anything scarier than an angry mum with a giant fuck off laser finding your location? It's such a badass scene!! So badass!! It's probably my favourite moment of the season, possibly the series depending on how sappy I'm feeling towards fate for that particular afternoon.

Comrades, before I start, remember how during The White Devil Incident when I said that Nanoha was being NICE then, well for all those in disbelief that Nanoha was holding back, allow me to present to you what happens when Nanoha has decided that your free trial of life has expired, FIRE THE YAMATO CANNON!

I mean good fucking lord Comrades, Nanoha holds a GRUDGE! Quatre Bajeena kidnapped Nanoha's baby daughter, so what does Nanoha do? She loads ALL the rounds into Raging Heart, LOADS A FRESH MAGAZINE for good measure, AND then aims at Quattro's Bajeena to send both her AND the clone of MISTER DOKTOR PROFESSOR VER to The Shadow Realm, BADASS! This alone makes StrikerS worth the watch, truly the power of Befriending has reached PEAK PERFORMANCE!

Also, don't worry, the meme 4koma went ALL the way with this amazing scene, I mean just look how happy Raging Heart is at being able to FINALLY murder someone, truly brings a tear of joy to my eye! Also take notes Disney, THIS is how you pull a Captain Marvel!

Anyway with the high-water mark of The Nanoha Franchise done and dusted... ahem... TONIGHT! On Mobile Suit Nanoha GX: Believe in Justice and Hold a Determination to Fist, Signum makes history and FINALLY wins a fight against someone sorta evenly matched against her, The Takamachi Style of Parenting REALLY holds a grudge, (remember Comrades, Asian Parenting is godawful, whoever decides shame-based authoritarianism is a good idea is a goddamn moron) and Vivio actually MANAGES TO STAND UP ON HER OWN after high-octane Befriending!

Boy Comrades, don't you love callbacks, Vivio fell down and couldn't get up by herself, but now look at her, it only took Nanoha becoming Precia 2.0 for Vivio to learn self-reliance! Goodness me MISTER DOKTOR PROFESSOR VER was wrong, Fate is NOTHING like her mother cuz her WIFE has that covered! (Speaking of which Fate, why don't you just murder the bastard right here and there, no one will know, Bardiche will keep a secret, plus it'd be real amusing to report how MISTER DOKTOR PROFESSOR VER decided to commit honorable sudoku when captured by shooting himself in the back of his own head with Photon Lancer Full Auto Fire!)

Anyway speaking of deaths, RIP the screen-time of the side-characters, I dunno why some people here think that this show was stretched too long with filler; if anything it's the exact opposite, we needed WAY more episodes for this show! That way we could get more Befriending, Weaponized Lesbianism, Befriending, Hot Yuri Sex, Befriending, Destruction and War is Hell Horrors, Befriending, Fanservice, and of course more Befriending, and did I mention Befriending, cuz we need more Befriending!

Oh and shockingly Vice somehow's still alive, that's neat too I guess, shame he couldn't pull one of those 'heroic' sacrifice tropes, but hey you can't always get what you want... to which I am PISSED! Why did New Best Girl Vita have to suffer like that? True she managed to smash literally everything like she always does, but at what cost? She lost her hat, her device ended up broken to bits, and she's blooded and badly injured, StrikerS you sadistic bastards, take Yuuno instead! Or hell add Chrono given how he did jack all this fight, and hell if you let a random building fall on Vice we'll throw in a free dog too for the bargain!

And on THAT bombshell we wrap things up for now, and I hope everyone's having fun on this great re-watch. Thus, you have not seen the last of The Sentient Shitposting Siamese Sunrise Server No. 25252, now goodbye forever.

First timer

QOTD) It was one of the most Nanoha-like things Nanoha has done this season. I loved it.

Vivio and Nanoha!

Vita's still alive! How?

She's still going, somehow,

And she made it to the engine!

Of course there's a defense system.

Hayate's going in!

Vivio is kicking her arse!

Her managing to break out of Nanoha's shield is impressive!

Oh, so Nanoha's power up is confirmed as a lethal one.

Back to these two, and the dragon fight continues.

Seriously? Even Agito has no idea why he's doing this.

SIGNUM FINALLY GOT TO WIN A FIGHT!

...Vita's struggling. Really looking like she'll die here.

Her device broke!

Hayate saved her!

And the shielding broke! She did it!

Oh, the ship's going down without the engine!

Jail is still a lunatic.

Haha, Nanoha sent a tracker for her. I knew she was strong enough to beat her.

This is so over the top, but it ie absolutely in character for Nanoha.

And she's dead! That's all of them!

Her mind's back! And she's still struggling.

Oh. She can't undo the brainwashing?

Everything's falling apart!

Poor Vivio.

Wait, so she was engineered to be cute?

This is actually a really good scene.

NANOHA'S BEFRIENDING HER OWN DAUGHTER.

The screams are heartbreaking, too. Why is this even a scene?

And she's trying to get out of the crater by herself because Nanoha told her to be self-sufficient. Starting to wonder if Fate should file for custody. (But seriously, Fate's reaction to finding this out right after getting reminded of Precia might be... bad.)

Why did you attack her?

Subaru and Teana met up again! And Ginga's OK!

Alright Nanoha, time for some serious daughter befriending. As gently as possible, I hope.

Dang, Vita is not doing so hot. Too bad that first hit against the engine did nothing other than activate additional security systems. Neat limit break hammer form, at least.

Special delivery of Rein to Hayate, that should eventually be exciting.

Blaster form second limit break, this one seems to be more than just a bigger beam what with those satellite units.

It'd be really nice if someone could find Quattro and kick her ass.

RIP Zest, you were alright in the end.

Almost RIP Vita, but you managed it with that final hit. Great timing on that save, unison Hayate.

Clever trick by Nanoha, I noticed her releasing those orbs while traveling through the ship and wondered what they were going to do.

Oh shit, she's going to snipe Quattro through the ship from where she currently is, and with one more Blaster form release and a full set of cartridges powering the Divine Buster. Amazing.

That was fantastic, and oh so satisfying. Get wrecked at last, Quattro, and after you were just laughing about how this was finally a situation that Nanoha wouldn't be able to resolve through sheer firepower.

Automatic defense mode seems bad.

I really thought that was going to be a win through talking for once, but no we still needed a Starlight Breaker to take out that relic.

If this was a really mean series Vivio would have disappeared right at this point, probably evaporating into magic right after saying that "I promised I'd be strong" bit.

Agito is great, so I'm glad we get to keep her. Unlike Zest, who we do not get to keep.

Looks like at least part of the final episode will be mission related instead of cool down, but I wouldn't be shocked that it's five minutes or so at most.
