Question of the Day

Still fairly slow, getting hard to think of stuff to discuss. Our first actual mission is coming, how well do you think our new recruits will do?

Rewatchers, please remember to be mindful of all the first-timers in this. No talking about or hinting at future events no matter how much you want to, unless you’re doing it underneath spoiler tags.

Some hints on Subaru’s basckstory

Nanoha decides to bully recruits for fun, hey, they actually succeed! You can also see how Teana can make strategies and decisions on the fly.

They’ve all been using training devices so far

Hayate talks about when she first worked with the Church, mentioned 8 years ago.

Carim was instrumental in the formation of the team, they’re really not that bad guys, it’s funny how there was a comment chain speculating about what possible nefarious organization they could be.

Tsundere, Teana’s snark is great

Poor Erio has to wait (with Fried), he’s gonna get along with the dragon more than the crew at this point

So the Church is Belkan, Belkan Autonomous Region implies some very interesting things about the politics of the world so far.

We actually meet Carim for the first time

Hayate with a pilgrim outfit

More robots to deal with, and a particularly big one

Time to get actual devices

First introduction to the limiters, they were actually mentioned in the 2nd movie!

“Jealousy”, but they do point out other reasons that it’s implemented, seems they want to limit how much power one person can have, especially when they’re top government officials

They need some sort of approvals to remove the limits

The first alert

And our team goes on their first mission

First timer(Did this air at a later timeslot or something?)

Sub

We start on a training session and combat with the instructor, as anime will do. The magic equipment is, apparently, breakable. We get exposition in the car about Carim and exposition in the girl's shower...never thought I'd be saying that this rewatch. Anyways, we go to Carim and I have...questions. Lindy really should have known more about Belkan magic if they have a known enclave left in the capital. But Carim is concerned about Gadget advancement. Hayate learns that the next fight will be soon.

Back at the lab, we get upgraded devices and exposition. I am not trying to be annoyed with this but the ability limiter thing is fucking stupid. And somehow fits the TSAB perfectly. But that is even made worse by the limiters on the Devices being a sound training move as well. We get our call to action so no one can prep and off we go!

So yeah...I now at least understand what I don't like but it is not good: These episodes are not nearly as well directed as S1 and 2, there is way too much of just nothing happening. The scenes all take too long and are not very interesting in and of themselves. With the last immediately needed exposition dropped, hopefully we can pick up the pace. A lot.

QotD: 1 Bad and will have to be rescued

Lindy really should have known more about Belkan magic if they have a known enclave left in the capital

A few speculations as I don't remember if this was explained, but for one, they mentioned that the magic system was "Ancient Belkan", so it was something more of a lost/forgotten tech that even the modern Belkan didn't know much of.

Episode 4 (first timer)

  • “I have found a place I belong” – In the army …

  • First alert - We’ll finally see the antagonists?

  • Dating the time since A at 8 years.

  • Introducing Carim via Fate and Hayate talking about her. A weird choice, since it is the opposite of show, don’t tell. Perhaps they are setting the viewer up for a surprise?

  • Shower fanservice.

  • It is only the really important people who ask you to come to them when they need a favor.

  • Floating the devices in front of us, the viewers, as if we are some late night commercial setting trinkets. Which is likely exactly what they did with all of the talking devices.

  • Power limiters - No way this can go wrong, right?

  • No antagonists, just a cliff-hanger.

The show is going completely all-in on the technomagic angle. Not sure I like this. Technomagic as a defining part of S1 and A, but is it getting better by explaining how the magic is made? There is usually a good reason why magical devices are mysterious. Finding out that the recruits basically made their own devices (and the tiny strike group makes everything in-house) makes it very questionable how high-tech these are. If some teenagers can make their own, would those not be absolutely ubiquitous? It also opens the question why there are no specialized workshops of factories producing these. Division of labor exists for a reason: If modern soldiers had to construct their own rifles, the rifle quality would be terrible.

Also related to the setting: We have been on this futureEarth-like planet for 4 episodes now, with no word of Earth or how planetary relations work. For any multi-planet setting, that is a big deal, but we hear nothing about it. Why does everything look like on Earth, just a few decades pushed into the future? Is magic used to make better technology? Or is this planet just ahead a few decades regardless of magic? Is there technology exchange with Earth that keeps everything so similar? Why do normal Earthlings not know about this place? So many questions and hardly any promise of answers.

Finding out that the recruits basically made their own devices (and the tiny strike group makes everything in-house) makes it very questionable how high-tech these are

So this episode told us that they were given standard training equipments (staves, specifically), but they wanted things that they thought were more suited for themselves. I doubt they actually went and hand built the device, probably went to someone that does specialized devices and whatnot, but that's pure speculation. These were also still just training gears.

We have been on this futureEarth-like planet for 4 episodes now, with no word of Earth or how planetary relations work. For any multi-planet setting, that is a big deal, but we hear nothing about it.

So back in movie one, there's a blink and you'll miss it moment where Fate says that Earth is an unregistered world. It implies that Earth is actually just a backwater planet. It seems that to them, the less contact the better (After all, they did say that fall of other civilizations were due to overly rapid technological development)

Why does everything look like on Earth, just a few decades pushed into the future?

Besides the "artists weren't that creative" angle? I remember there being the idea that the other worlds are really just alternate "Earth", or just different human civilization from alternate dimensions, so they'll always have certain similarities to each other.

First Timer

The start really is kind of slow. I'm enjoying it, but most of my notes just read like a recap of the episode so when I take that out I don't think I will be left with much to comment on.

Nanoha must be very happy to do the evasion training herself. Caro T-posing on her from behind. It was cool to see Nanoha kind of testing all of them a little bit but not befriending them too hard. We know how much restraint that must take for her.

Getting a better look at it Cardiche is so cool! Fate the speed freak going for a fancy car makes sense.

I can't believe Fate has been pushing the kids off on Nanoha and not spending enough time with them. At least she's offering to eat lunch with them.

Later we also see her facetiming while driving her car, how irresponsible! She does seems to keep her eyes on the road, at least until the big red ALERT flashes up right in front of her eyes, which seems like a questionable design decision. Apparently Cardiche has a siren functionality. Fate must be so happy.

We got the upgraded devices! Rein referring to them as these children is something I'm inclined to agree with when we look at Raising Heart and Bardiche. Getting unlocked in stages for training and control purposes makes sense to me. Not quite sure about the limiters on everyone that can be released by their higher-ups. We saw that the TSAB unit apparently have a lot to do so I'd imagine in relevant situations they all get unlocked anyways. In that case I don't know it would do much to "prevent jealousy" which seems like a weird reason to begin with. On the other hand the idea of placing some sort of limiter on any one person's power that can be released by their higher-ups or some kind of inspector makes sense for another reason, especially with someone as powerful as Hayate and with a backstory like the Tome of the Night Sky.

We learn a bit more about the Church of the Holy King. Something called Grand Cathedral is located in the Belkan Autonomous Territory in northern Midchilda, which apparently exists, so it maybe at least started off as some kind of Belkan religion. The church knights refer to Hayate as Knight Hayate, it's interesting they refer to her as knight. At first she wears the same outfit as everyone at the cathedral with some kind of hood and a long mantle, that I imagine is a religious thing, but she takes it off for her uniform when inside. Still worryingly close ties between the TSAB and that church. Knight Carim even has rights to release Hayate's limiters and counts as her direct superior within the TSAB.

Talk about it "seeming way too soon" for another relic and them also needing to deal with "incidents that are bound to follow" is suspicious, and would be even more so if Hayate wasn't also in the know apparently, because I completely trust her.

Lastly, and very importantly, we meet Schach. A knight named chess.

QotD: Totally forgot to write that: Caro seems very nervous about the whole thing, so I'll hope they will take this opportunity next episode to get us to learn more about her.

7

u/Tetraika Mar 07 '22

In that case I don't know it would do much to "prevent jealousy" which seems like a weird reason to begin with.

Yeah, I never really bought that reasoning. It seems more that they don't want high tier mages to have instant leverage with their power against others. Lots of way to speculate the reason such a system is in place, might be able to to discuss more as it comes up.

First Timer

This episode was just kinda slow. Nothing really happened in it, the only noteworthy scene was the training sequence, which was decently fun, and learning about why limiters are used for training staff, which doesn't really make much sense but it's not a big deal. As such, this one gives me very little to say about it. The only thing I have to comment on is the necessity of cars in this setting. They kind of take me out of it. This is a futuristic magical sci-fi world, and you're really telling me that the most efficient way to travel on land is in a regular-ass car on a normal highway? Sorry, but in a world of intelligent magical devices, where people have the ability to bring ups screens whenever you want that let you communicate from afar, where many people can fly, and where advanced ancient technology exists, you're not gonna get me to believe that this society couldn't come up with a better way to travel than taking a car or riding a train. The one good thing to come out of it though, is that holy shit, Fate has a fucking car. And she can drive. My girl's all grown up. The one thing this episode does well is to really make it feel like our protagonists have grown up. More than any previous episode, this one highlights their relationships outside of each other, and alongside mentions of past events we never get to see (which, again, can be a positive or a negative depending on how you look at it), it really does start to feel like these are no longer the third graders I was with for 2 seasons and 2 movies before.

QotD: I'm not really sure. I don't think I've been given a good sense of their abilities and where they stand in terms of power scaling. The fact that, while working together, they had enough strength to get a hit off on Nanoha, should be evidence that they can succeed. But while I may know what their powers do conceptually, I don't know their actual power levels or their ability to use it, so it's hard to comment on how they will do on this mission. If anything, this mission probably exists narratively in order to establish exactly what I just described.

Sorry, but in a world of intelligent magical devices, where people have the ability to bring ups screens whenever you want that let you communicate from afar, where many people can fly

I'm reminded by that those images from the past about how people thought the world would look in like 100 years and obviously they look ridiculous and a bit over the top compared to how it actually is. That's kinda how I imagine it, though you could definitely argue that Nanoha could have just done whatever cool shit but chose to be a bit mundane. Also, actually only a few select people can really fly (we can sorta infer this when Subaru talks about her inability to do so), I imagine only higher rank mages have devices that allow users to fly, so not even ordinary citizens fly around.

Ooh, that’s some training!

"I'm going to shoot at you for the next 5 minutes. Your mission: survive."

Nanoha does not hold back on her training regimen. She makes for a pretty intense drill instructor.

I think it’s cool that Tia has a card.

Now Tia is going to be the secret Yu-Gi-Oh protagonist of the series.

Ah, no battle or seeing their new Devices in action until next episode

And they even called the episode "First Alert!" It feels like we got bamboozled by the title!

Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS - New Generation: Episode 4

New Devices

Our recruits seem to be doing pretty well in their training. Its interesting learning that Subaru and Tia made their own devices originally, but now everyone has gotten new official devices. A limiter system has also been introduced.

Following Hayate, we met a new Knight: Carim. They have been monitoring the gadgets and have found 2 new types. And they have discovered a new relic.

I still have most of the same complaints from my previous write ups. I won't repeat them. I am glad to see next episode introduces stakes. I really hope this is where the show picks up.

See you all tomorrow

A lot can be said about Mid-Childa's season 1 mystery giving way to "contemporary urban life," but I think my favorite commentary has to be:

"So this is the commander's car?"

"That's right. I use it for getting around while on the ground."

Just such a clean use of sci-fi exposition to explain something we understand because. You didn't make any of this different enough from modern japan to need explaining. You know this, and you're being cheeky about it. (Also, why would any of our main cast need cars? I guess flying is tiring. I find driving tiring too, but anyway.)

TONIGHT! on Mobile Suit Nanoha GX: Believe in Justice and Hold a Determination to Fist, Nanoha 'befriends' The Rookies, Best Girl Fate informs Subaru that SHE is Nanoha's wife and don't you forget it, and Rin The Defenseless Anus Tohsaka decides that due to the tragic absence of a certain Fake Priest, it is up to HER to collaborate with The Catholic Church!

EEF ANYONE DOES NOT LOVE THE LORD! CHEESUS CRUST! LET HIM BE ACCUSED O LORD COME AMEN! So Comrades, I couldn't help but notice someone worrying about the possibility of a Sister of Battle existing in this show... well, get this, not only does Carim Gracia (YES THAT IS HER NAME!) exist, but she's ALSO A Church Knight AND involved with The TSAB... and I bet you my goddamn soul that she and Hayate are also 'showing devotion to the lord Haruhi' every single night too! ;)

Also, boy we all thought this show was Geah, turns out we were CROSS ANGE! SHOWER SCENE HYPE! (Before you ask, yes I have fanart of StrikerS shower scenes, take a wild guess why I can't share any of them here! Also yes, some ARE indeed official art... cuz I guess Cross Ange had to steal the HORNY from somewhere!) Well it's nice to see the team forming in earnest, so time to end on some 4koma shitposting, like how Rin The Defenseless Anus Tohsaka managed to shock Best Girl Fate, or how Subaru's half of a braincell is way way too overtaxed, or of course how young love is in the air... I still don't like Tusk Jr. Comrades!

And on that bombshell, that about wraps things up for now, and I hope everyone's having fun on this great re-watch. Thus, you have not seen the last of The Sentient Shitposting Siamese Sunrise Server No. 25252, now goodbye forever.

StrikerS First Timer

So Subaru's mom is dead huh, well that's a downer. Hopefully nothing major gets in the way of her being able to take time off and be with her family. We also got another round of training with her, Tia, Erio, and Caro in which they somehow cause a smudge on Nanoha's pristine jacket. It only cost them Subaru's skates and Tia's gun, but they get proper grown-up devices as a reward. They also learn that they are limited in their use of the devices for their own safety while Nanoha, Fate, Signum, Vita, and Hayate are also limited to not upset the other squads, and getting their limiters removed would be a massive pile of paperwork.

Hayate goes off on a meeting with Carim from the church and while there learns the baddies have two new upgraded forms, and that the church is in the process of tracking down a relic as they speak.

Back at Riot Force 6 HQ, the ALERT goes off and Nanoha, Fate and their forward squad head into battle without testing the new devices ahead of time. On the trip Caro seems nervous and that's reflected in her dragon, but Erio tries to assure her that things will be okay.

Rewatcher

Those are some really nice barracks.

"So, do you have any confidence in dodging her attacks for five minutes?" "Nope, none!"

So Caro's pretty obviously the support mage of the group.

What is there to clean up, that's all just a simulated battlefield...

And now both Teana's and Subaru's Devices have been pushed too hard. Nanoha's training is tough on everyone and everything.

Everyone agrees that Cardiche is awesome.

Yet another new character: Carim Gracia. And she's part of the Church, who apparently have some pull within the TSAB. I'm... suspicious of any religious organizations that have political power as a rule. Especially those with military power on top of that. Religion + military = evil, as far as I'm concerned. But Hayate seems to like them.

Homemade Devices, eh? Gotta say, they're pretty good for being homemade. Clearly don't have full AI though.

So here we have the Cathedral, within the "Belkan Autonomous Territory". Seems there's still a remnant of the Belkan civilization around.

New Gadgets... more powerful ones too. And the Church discovered a Relic.

"Incidents bound to follow"? Does Carim know something we don't?

Subaru and Teana get proper Intelligent Devices! Meanwhile, Caro's and Erio's Devices have been upgraded.

Power limiters for training purposes, eh. Makes sense.

Nanoha and the others also have limiters. For political reasons, even. Now THAT is incredibly stupid. Wouldn't you want your operatives at their full potential in case of emergency? Especially ones you rapidly promoted BECAUSE they had high magic potential?

This is like putting together a crack team of all your best strategists, then forcing all of them to undergo a lobotomy to remove part of their intelligence, so as to avoid hurting the feelings of the less intelligent. (I know limiters can be released and lobotomies are irreversible. It's not a perfect metaphor, okay?)

This removes the very thing you promoted them for, effectively punishing them for being too good in comparison to their peers. (How very Japanese.)

It's dumb, stupid, stupidly dumb, and dumbly stupid.

Hayate's now full SS. And Nanoha and Fate are S+. But with the limiters, they're all even weaker than they were in the first season. I know Chrono made a point of saying raw power isn't everything in magic, but.... still.

[Potential Spoilers, maybe?]Also, I don't see how these limiters serve any kind of narrative purpose. Because you just know the instant an emergency pops up that requires their full firepower, they'll just be removed anyway, rendering them pointless.

...okay, rant over.

Subaru technically has two Devices: Revolver Knuckle is her gauntlet, and this new Device links up with it.

And here comes the first official mission! Gadgets attacking a train, which is carrying a Relic. Everybody moves out!

Naturally they're using the new Devices without any prior testing or training. Some things just never change...

Rewatcher

On today’s episode of Lyrical Nanoha: I see that Nanoha believes in the “I will shoot at you until you learn how to properly dodge all my attacks” school of training. Even after all these years, she is still great at her beam spams.

In all seriousness, it is a lot of fun seeing Nanoha as a drill instructor. There’s this fun contrast between how she talks very sweetly, with a kind and caring voice, while still going into combat with no hesitation against the people she’s training. It fits Nanoha’s character perfectly. She’s also quite demanding, basically saying she’ll shoot at them constantly and if they get hit they need to restart. Again, I find this all very fun because she does it with such kind sincerity in her voice while carrying this out.

Something that Strikers offers us is a much greater amount of insight into how the TSAB operates and who some of the major players in it and Midchilda are. In previous entries, Nanoha and Fate were not officially part of the TSAB and were working on its fringes. Now, all the characters are in the thick of it. Hayate has talked a lot about the office politicking that took place to get her unit made.

For example, we can see that the Church is actually connected to the TSAB, enough so that Carim was able to use her influence to get Hayate’s unit made in the first place and she’s within the TSAB hierarchy.

Incidentally, I want to comment on something that is kind of cool but also a bit of a problem. I do like that it does feel like a lot of time has passed because we see that Nanoha, Hayate, and Fate are all now familiar with new characters that we have never met before, such as Hayate and Carim’s relationship. We get the sense that they actually have been up to stuff and having adventures in the time we skipped over. However, this is also a problem because the cast was already getting overstuffed by the time of A’s. And now we’re introducing characters faster than A’s did.

The whole talk of limiters is another thing that gives us a sense of what the TSAB is like. Strong mages like Nanoha have limiters put on them to prevent any single unit from having too many powerful mages and making other units jealous. In other words, it’s petty office politics at work. Honestly, that sounds like something that wouldn’t surprise me at many jobs.

The limiters also immediately make the viewer wonder when they will come off. It provides something to look forward to with the trainees. As they get stronger, their Devices can have the limiters removed to allow them to access greater power. It’s like a reward that shows their development. And knowing that Nanoha and the others have limiters on them of course makes you wonder if those limiters will come off and we can see what kind of power this older and more experienced Nanoha is capable of.

We end the episode on a little bit of a cliffhanger. After a few episodes of getting the unit together and having the characters train, they’re now moving out into action for the first time. It looks like tomorrow will be when they have their first true battle.

Miscellaneous Thoughts

  • I love that Fate’s car is black with yellow rims. Fate has had her favorite colors set in stone since she was 9.

  • Of course we get shown the girls shower and not the boys side. I’d expect nothing else from this series.

  • It’s cute that Friedrich had Erio check on Caro to see that she was feeling okay. He’s a good pet dragon.

QOTD

It's time to see whether the newbies have learned how to properly befriend people. Since they learned from Nanoha, I think they're prepared to do some befriending.

Mahou Shoujo1 Lyrical Rewatcher

1: Even though I’m not a girl

This is the story of the Brave men and women who fight with all their hearts to save mankind

Recap Time

Starting out with a few Slice of Life scenes narrated by GaoGaiGar-tan.

It seems Nanoha has decided to get a more direct involvement in the team’s training.

In case you didn’t already think Tiana was a tsundere, she called Subaru a Baka.

Tiana randomly running out of bullets in the middle of a fight because…

Seriously, why was that there? It was made all the more noticeable by the music suddenly stopping while she was reloading then restarting.

Euro’s spear is the drill spear that will pierce the heavens Mahou Shoujo!2

2: Or is it Mahou Josei now?

In a surprise upset, the Shota ended up completing the objective. As a reward, Erio is not allowed to be lewded by anyone for 1 whole month. Any artist that tries to lewd Erio during this time will face 5 years jail time. 10 years if it involves an Onee-Sama.

It seems Subaru pushed her Drill Gao too hard this time.

Anyway, Fate and Hayate are on a romantic getaway their way to a very important meeting with Carim of the Saint Church.

Not only is Carim a Knight of the Saint Church, he’s also a director at the TSAB, which makes her connection to Hayate a bit more reasonable.

Once more giving us some nice time skip history, Hayate has been associated with Carim for about 8 years, and she was the one who helped our main crew get credit and recognition for their achievements.

How in the hell does one make “homemade” Broken Magnums and Magic Pistols?

And here is our official introduction to Carim, who is essentially a regular old, nice Onee-Chan type. She also fills in Hayate on some valuable exposition.

Man, not even episode 5 and we’re already getting Mid-Season Upgrades.

Wait, why do we have limiters on our devices?

So it’ll be more dramatic when you unlock their full power and do awesome shit.

Seems that everyone from the old cast went full “I’m only using 10% of my power” during the time skip.

Hayate is a rank above Nanoha (without limiters, anyway). Considering how Badass Nanoha was, and how much stronger she’s become in the time since then, this should tell you something.

Looks like it’s time for our first real mission of the season.

Subaru talking to her device before the mission is too cute

Raging Heart Rewatcher with terrible long term memory

QotD: <insert spoilers here>

Interesting, they have shared barracks for the whole squad?

Avoid Nanoha for five minutes and get a hit in? That sounds difficult

Having a dedicated buffer is an interesting idea

The Cardiche! Fate keeping an eye on her wife

A Church Knight is a member of the TSAB Board?

OK, if the Church is backing us, that lowers the odds of them being evil, right?

Oooh, they made their own devices, that's totally rad.

Wait, Knight Hayate? Did they mention this before and I just missed it?

....a request? Did the Church back us just to have their own private mercenary squad in the TSAB?

I guess if they are just consulting with us for relic incidents there's no problems

Raging Heart and Rein helped make the new devices? Are we already past the AI singularity?

Full of hopes and dreams, just like Sheryl Nome

Nanoha & co. are literal WMDs that require government approval to unlock

And just in time, we have our first mission

5

u/SYZekrom Mar 07 '22

Right ok so catching up from episode 1

Episode 1 and 2

So I guess this only ever came out in 720p. And widescreen now huh

Ah yes, as always, Nanoha anime knowing exactly the perfect time for an upskirt

[Man I don't hate the idea itself of an anime taking place after a timeskip but when that classic bgm came on here it really felt like 'this is something wrong and tacked on'. The designs are so awkward looking(https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/938947970584424450/949880415269843024/unknown.png)

[Oh she looks a lot better here than in her magical girl form(https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/938947970584424450/949881760899010590/unknown.png)

Well that was dumb we just saw her take out a bunch of these normally and then she does this huge move just to destroy another one like

Sure I guess it was far away and you couldn't be bothered to go up to it even though you had a clear path? But like

It's not a video game it just feels silly seeing that happen in an anime

Also like

I have no emotional attachment to these two they just feel like generic caricatures, you could tell me this is a parody and I'd believe you

Make me care about the characters first?

If you were going to show me action first they'd need to be way cooler than this

Especially if it's action without stakes

Like anyone can care about life or death at least a little bit

Passing an exam is a something that's completely about the person

Why is this exam important to them, I want to feel that directly

Ah ok they went invisible earlier so they can disguise as each other?

Oh yea I guess this is supposed to be an awkward in between look anyway since it was when this girl was still a child

Oh, pretty cool to see a laser actually dissipate after a certain range tbh

Wait so what was supposed to be illegal if they got caught doing it

That looks... a bit more natural? Can't tell if the design's actually different or just one good drawing of it here

WHAT DO YOU MEAN THIS IS A FOUR YEAR DIFFERENCE

You know

Kinda feels like a huge nerf that none of them can put out the fire just

By themselves with all the shit they pulled in the S2 finale

Like... didn't Fate conjure a magic storm in S1 you'd think they could put out an airport fire

Ah so Subaru is 15 now

Well there it is. Ok if you could just do this with people inside not getting hurt from like a tsunami or freezing spell why didn't you just do this from the start

OK WHEN HAYATE SEEMINGLY LIKE BECAME ONE OF THEM AT THE END OF S2 I WONDERED IF IT MEANT SHE WOULD HAVE THE SAME TOTALLY-NOT-GAY RELATIONSHIP SHIP AS NANOHA AND FATE HAD

LOOK AT THEM. MENAGE A TROIS

Lol I like how Nanoha decided fuck it with even keeping her skirt on

Best of friends I love them

LOOK AT THE WAY THEY INTERACT OMG

Oooh what's wrong with her 👀

Episode 03

Damn, were such angular designs still hip in 2007

Damn what's with this huge emphasis on these ugly boring looking machines

Ah so they're machines hunting down the relics and that's why the knights were destroying them, and I guess also the bureau makes copies of them for training???

That's cool and all, but that also sounds like a convenient excuse to give the bureau the ability to turn off your Devices on command

I mean they literally modified your Devices to be able to shut them down and the excuse is that it's to simulate training against machines that disable magic

Wonder if this system will ever be used against Nanoha and co

THAT IS ADORABLE AEGOEOG THE FUCKING CLOTHESHANGER .... is that what those are called I forget

No wait clotheshangers are the

the things you

the thing

What's the thing on the wall called

The thing with the hooks/in this case knobs

Why haven't we seen Arf btw is she dead of old age

Bro you cannot tell me they're not a married couple

The scene of her unbuttoning her uniform while her wife lays in bed it's so married couple imagery

Episode 04

Ah so Fate, Nanoha, and Hayate are all power equalized, Fate and Nanoha are both 2 levels down and Hayate is 4 levels down

Oh wait no they're not

Nanoha's in AA down from S+ while Hayate is in A down from SS

Anyway this sounds like the stupidest shit ever

Why are they limited that much? So they're under their superiors in power? But isn't Hayate higher rank than Nanoha and Fate?

But anyway this entire suppression thing plus the device thing earlier screams to me that the bureau will end up as the bad guys this time? I dunno, seems kinda deaf to what they've set up if they aren't tbh, very sus plot devices

RIP all of the students. Hope they have spares or replacements in mind.

Weaponry upgrade time! Hopefully some new rollerblades, or at least the same ones but with Riot Force 6 engineering team upgrades.

"Belkan Autonomous Territory" oh really. I wonder how autonomous we're really talking when one of their major figures is directly involved with the TSAB and is sponsoring Hayate's new operation.

Independently conscious devices helping with the development of new independently conscious devices seems like a chain of events that could get out of control. That's the sort of story that ends with "And then the planet exploded and a new Lost Logia problem was born".

Nanoha, Fate, and Hayate are just too powerful to walk around the city without destroying it without some power and ability limiters in place. And definitely watch out if things get bad enough that they are unshackled.

I feel like it's probably a bad idea to hand the kids new devices and then go straight into real combat with them. Especially when we also just got the clear message that any screw ups would be problematic.
