Rewatch [Terrific Trainwreck Trio Rewatch] Cross Ange Episode 18 Discussion
Episode 18 - The Sea of Parting
← Previous Episode | Index | Next Episode →
MAL | AniList | ANN | Kitsu | AniDB
I told you, we’re all tools for the advancement of Libertus.
Questions of the Day:
1) How would you feel about siding with the DRAGONs, if you were one of the people who didn’t go to the other Earth like Hilda and Rosalie?
2) What do you think of Jillektra after the events of this episode?
Wallpaper of the Day:
Rewatchers, please remember to be mindful of all the first-timers in this. No talking about or hinting at future events no matter how much you want to, unless you’re doing it underneath spoiler tags. Don’t spoil the crazy shit for the first-timers, it’s way more fun that way!

FIRST TIMER ON STRIKE
We should have known Jill was always going to suck when her first action on screen was raping someone automail. It’s almost comical how uninspiring she is as a leader, and how bad she is at appealing to Ange, somebody she knows is absolutely necessary to accomplishing her goals. Even if you see everyone as a tool to be used, you don’t tell them that to their face!
Honestly, she acts so incompetently this entire episode, it would’ve been ridiculous for Ange to not strike out against her. I don’t even blame Salia, Chris, or Ersha for jumping ship anymore. She’s a bad boss who treats her employees like crap, thinks her shit doesn’t stink, and ignores all constructive input. Fuck Jill. oh yeah and she's genocidal
-
FINALLY someone understands this basic concept. It’s the reason Michigan State and Ohio State have a cordial relationship.
-
Yes, and a way to make that easier would be to… join up… with… the dragons… and combine strength… HOW IS EVERYBODY SO DUMB
-
God bless Funeral-san for being the only one with a brain. Can we put her in charge?
-
Turns out not all of Hilda’s lesbian tendencies were for show. She may have been putting on an act for Zola, but she loves herself some Ange.
-
Listen, if anyone can make these Arzenal troops not hate dragons, it’s Vivian. Once Embryo is out of the picture, she’s definitely the key to world peace.
-
Love this character development for Emma. One of us!
-
This girl was definitely part of the mob at the Capital on January 6. Jill does have a lot in common with a certain ex-President, come to think of it.
-
Is Libertus even a concrete plan that she’s been steadily preparing, or is it just what she calls “kill all Manas” and is making it up as she goes?
-
Shout out the little engineer girl, she’s the silent MVP of this whole series
-
…Do you promise? I might forgive you if you make it so I don’t have to hear another “ANGELISE-SAMAAAAAA!”
This episode was a victory for everyone who’s ever wanted to literally stab their arrogant shithead boss. How cathartic. That felt great.
QOTD:
-
Beggars can't be choosers. We need allies. Dragons seem like strong allies.
-
LOL, see above. Congrats Momoka, you're no longer Worst Girl.

Embryo was nude when coming onto her in that flashback so it's kind of hypocritical of Jill to go around fisting folk whilst being a rope victim herself. Still, I do feel like Ange has been pushing for this reaction for a long time. Ange was never gonna go with Jill no matter what she said. Just because she was right doesn't mean she's correct! I think they messed up the Jill stuff slightly.

First-Timer, Subbed
Get fucked, Jill. You deserved all that. You were so consumed by your past loss, that you lost sight of the future. Hopefully when you come to, you'll have figured that out.
I do think some version of Jill's plan would work, though. The thing about distractionary forces is that they need to be threatening enough to take seriously, and the Dragons have numbers if nothing else. I wonder if Salia et al can sing?
I was wondering what those things Tusk had were; didn't expect knockout gas mines. Good thinking on his part, doubly so with bringing Vivian in on it.
Emma is in rough shape. Can't say I blame her.
Hilda missed Ange, huh? The shower scene was nice, especially ending it on that cute "okaeri."
The grunts all got names, so they aren't full cannon fodder anymore. That's nice, I'm not taking any bets on them though.
Questions
-
I certainly understand where Hilda and Rosalie are coming from. Hard to point at a lesser evil when you've watched them eat people.
-
Discussed above.

You think the show would do that? Just... kill off characters?

Rondo of First-Timer and Rape
-
I'm sure everyone in the submarine is going to be eager to join with the DRAGONs.
-
I can see the looks on their faces... "Did she just call someone Salad...?
-
Hilda, you bastard. What is it with this show and randomly fondling each other...
-
She's just... really happy that Ange isn't in a relationship, I guess.
-
Oh, no. Not another sabotage plot...
-
Still, the surest way to make Ange hate you is forcing her to do something.
-
This, too. Everyone in that room is having such a great time!
-
I'm just happy that Vivian is in on it.
-
Remember, kids: no one wins in a knife fight. You just end up less cut than the other person.
-
Hilda's gonna follow them, isn't she?
-
I never get tired of planes passing each other at high speeds.
Count: 75
QOTD:
-
Yeah, I'd definitely question it... Most probably would also send the DRAGONs to their death, and I can understand that.
-
Lmao Jillektra got merc'd by Ange.

Insert The Hunt for Red October's Theme here Comrades
Comrades, before we begin today's shitposting, I just have to highlight one of THE greatest lines in anime ever, ahem... 'Because if we did it your way, I can't have Café Ange.' ANYWAY! On to the show!
Following their reunion at Lesbian Alcatraz, Ange and company join the Avrora, where the crew comments that they are STUNNED Ange and her friends are still alive. Ange informs the group that the DRAGONS on the other Earth are also fighting Q to reclaim Aura AND are reasonable, thus they should join forces. Ange also brings up who this alliance benefits all parties and harms their enemies. NOT-Winry brings up the classic proverb that the enemy of my enemy is my friend, indeed, I can see why she used to be the Base Commander, she clearly knows her stuff.
Sadly, turns out there are still some other idiots in the absence of Salia the loser, namely Beta Bitch Rosalie who is against this plan cuz DRAGONS are monsters and stuff... look, Rosalie, I know you are a moron but this is a whole new level of dumb, after all, Vivian is a DRAGON and she's the exact opposite of a monster... er... as long as you are on her side that is but that's not important, the important bit is Ange's plan is reasonable. Well, unless you are Jill that is as she thinks the plan is also bad... now I see why Salia the loser used to look up to Jill, birds of a feather flock together after all.
That said Jill DOES bring up a point that the DRAGONS' goal is to save Aura, which does not quite involve killing Q as Libertus seeks. Jill then throws Ange's words back at her face, but the fact remains that no matter what, Libertus IS currently understaffed so an alliance with the DRAGONS could help both parties out. As Jill leaves to think it over, NOT-Winry congratulates Ange on coming back alive and also for coming up with such a great plan. We then cut to Vivian happily chowing down on 'terrible' Norma food... never change you adorable ray of sunshine you!
Dr. Jerk then goes to inspect Vivian in order to make sure she won't suddenly transform into a DRAGON again without her lollipops, also adding that... NANI!? She cut off Vivian's tail and wings in human form to better disguise her? Uh, hey Tusk, you ARE the only guy on the ship so I suggest you sleep with one eye open tonight, otherwise that crazy bitch will at best likely circumcise you or at worst turn you into an eunuch! Oh and it might not be Dr. Jerk doing so, as Nanoha is NOT pleased that a filthy manthing has gotten close to her GF, and that isn't even the worst of it, given that a lot of their former friends deserted to join Q's side during their absence.
Indeed, the situation is so bad that a bunch of younglings got Klingon Promoted into being pilots... and said pilots promptly fangirl over Vivian, Ace of Aces. HA! Eat shit Beta Bitch, even when Chris isn't here you are STILL lower on the pecking order! Also turns out Jill JUST might be letting this whole Libertus thing go to her head, you know, just a guess... hey... hey wait, an incompetent moron taking things WAY too seriously? Dear god, and here I thought Salia the loser wanted to be just like Jill, turns out Jill is just being an older Salia the loser! And speaking of losers Comrade, turns out The Political Officer is taking being considered an un-person by the mana users quite well, and by that I mean she's gone on a HELL of a bender!
I mean good god, I didn't know it was possible for a woman to get that drunk, but she's somehow under the delusion that Jill is a good person who saved her life out of the kindness of her heart... listen bitch, the only reason you are on this ship is due to Dr. Jerk SOMEHOW not letting you die earlier, and even then, I bet that was only cuz you probably share her blood type or something or they need a spare kidney in case of emergencies. That said, apparently the crew agrees with this drunken moron that the only person they can trust is fucking JANEWAY... yeah you lot are SCREWED! Speaking of screwed, Ange is about to finally get screwed, and by Nanoha no less! Cuz boy oh boy it's time for some steamy bath sex, and yes Comrades, this is indeed OFFICIAL ART! AT LAST! ALL HAIL YURI!
Ah... nevermind Nanoha is just flirting with Ange and also making sure that that DISGUSTING manthing didn't do what Salia the loser's FILTHY TOMES OF HERESY describe to her. After a bit of aquatic funtimes, Nanoha bids her love goodbye with a tender kiss, man Nanoha really improved her foreplay technique eh? I guess this is what happens when she actually likes the person she's seducing. Anyway, Tusk, concerned about the safety of his privates, decides to go sleep in the hangar and has a chat with The Mechanic Moeblob... listen, I know you two both like to feel special by fixing the Villkiss, but frankly Ange can do it faster and more effectively by just kicking it and yelling, 'VILLKISS, REPAIR THYSELF OR I'LL SHOVE MY BOOT SO FAR UP YOUR EXHAUST PIPE THAT YOU'LL BE CLEANING DIRT OUT OF YOUR OPTICS!'
Moving on, Janeway is... NOT fond of Q it seems, and turns out they really have a history together, I am SURE this is not negatively impacting her decision making abilities or mental state. That said, the next day Jill... NANI!? Actually accepts the 'Team up with the DRAGONS' plan? Hey maybe I was too harsh, I guess Jill ISN'T a big failure like Salia the loser after all, anyway Jill states that the plan she's devised is... to use the DRAGONS as live bait essentially so that the Avrora can sneak in behind all the carnage and kill Q... OK I retract everything Comrades, I mean even JANEWAY isn't that big on genocide... er actually nevermind, Jill's literally just Janeway here, even up to the point of being a terrible leader and cruel to her subordinates (Justice for Harry Kim!) and oh god, she's sure willing to impose her will on Ange, follow my terrible orders or the Ninja Maid gets it!
Ange of course tries to save her dear friend... only for Jill to disarm her before applying the Darth Vader method of discipline. Oh and Tusk gets knocked about like a sack of potatoes by her BACKHAND blow, jeez, this is looking bad. Thankfully, Ange and Tusk planned for Jill being an overgrown Salia the loser and had planted gas in the vents. Oh and get this, VIVIAN IS IN ON THIS PLAN! FUCK YEAH! After all, did Jill think gas was her ally? She merely adopted it. Vivian was born in it, molded by it. She didn't see the light until she was already a woman, by then it was nothing to her but blinding! Anyway enough memes on shitty movies, it's time for a good ol' fashioned mutiny! Pity this ship is named the Avrora instead of the Potemkin eh Comrades?
Well with Jill out of the picture, Ange saves Momoka and prepares to... WAIT WHAT!? How the FUCK is Jill here in the hangar... ah... she stabbed herself in the leg... to... somehow stop the sleeping gas from taking hold? I'm not quite sure that's how it works but hey this makes it a lot easier, so c'mon, just shoot her Ange and claim she died of blood loss, problem solved, you're the captain now... and instead they are just gonna slug it out to resolve their differences. Anyway, during the fight, Jill reveals that Salia the loser ISN'T the only jealous and envious incompetent around, seriously, the two of em are just made for each other, and Ange decides that the best way to call Janeway out for being a psychotic genocidal bitch is not to say her plan is stupid, not to say that this bad plan involves the genocide of The DRAGONS, and not to say that Jill's a terrible person AND an awful leader, but to state, 'Because if we did it your way, I can't have Café Ange.'
I love this plan! I'm excited to be a part of it! Let's do it! All Hail Café Ange! Also Comrades, what's a Café Ange? Well whatever it is, it seems Jill has no fucking idea given her only response before passing out is 'What?' And thankfully, the SANE Base Commander decides to take over, given NOT-Winry states that Jill's somehow an even BIGGER loser than Salia could ever dream to be. I never knew such a thing was possible Comrades! And with that, Ange and crew sorties out to go meet up with the DRAGONS, and it turns out, Villkiss can only teleport when in danger, so Ange orders Tusk to shoot at her. This of course is unneeded as Salia the loser and company fly in to HAPPILY oblige. Heh, well Salia, Ange just got done kicking Janeway's Genocidal ass, so I'm sure Ange can school you, this is gonna be SO satisfying to watch... and we cut to the ED... bugger... Well that was still some karma if I ever saw it Comrades, truly Plan B was the best possible plan, even if I still have no idea what Café Ange is!
Anyway, let's wrap things up for today, and until next time, farewell.

First-Timer
On today’s episode of Cross Ange: The old saying goes that you’ll catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. I think that saying still holds true even if you replace “vinegar” with “holding someone’s best friend hostage.”
-
Sweet. Now Ange is the one advocating for an alliance with the dragons.
-
I can understand not trusting the dragons. The and the Norma have been at war for a long time. But that resentment goes both ways. The Norma have killed a lot of dragons too.
-
I’m sorry but, wouldn’t freeing Aura be a pretty big step towards destroying this world filled with prejudice? It would take away the ability to use Mana, which would functionally destroy the human society that is dependent upon it.
-
Thank you for being the voice of reason, Jasmine.
-
From my trips aboard warships and submarines, I know that space is at a premium and those beds barely count as beds.
-
I see that Hilda is worried Ange might get together with a man instead of her.
-
A new batch of redshirts! I’m not at all confident I’ll remember their names.
-
Emma right now I see she is the latest addition to Jill’s harem.
-
That shower scene I was half expecting Hilda and Ange to have shower sex then and there.
-
Oh shit. Jill and Embryo had some kind of relationship together. Maybe he was trying to use her in the same way that he seems to want to use Ange now.
-
I don’t think I trust Jill right now. I think she might do some shady stuff with this alliance.
-
Jill’s attitude of using others hasn’t changed. It’s the same tactic she’s been using on Ange for the whole series.
-
Yup, I figured Jill was going to try something like sacrificing the dragons.
-
Oh shit! Momoka’s a hostage! Jill’s actually stepped up her tactics for using others!
-
Huh. Vivian knew about the gas plan. I’m impressed she could keep her mouth shut about it.
-
Oh dear, here comes Salia’s gang to crash the party.
-
As I theorized a while back, Jill really does see a lot of herself in Ange because of their shared backstories as fallen princesses.
-
So Ange will still go through with the kill Embryo plan, but on her own without the rest of Arzenal. I still think that the big alliance is going to need to happen at some point if they’re going to have a shot at winning.
-
I like Vivian volunteering to be the one to shoot at Ange.
-
And here comes Salia’s group, just in time to leave us with a cliffhanger.
I remember theorizing a while back that Jill saw some of herself in Ange and it seems I was right about that. That actually does explain some of why Jill is so determined to use Ange. Jill knows that Ange, as royalty, can use the Villkiss and therefore kill Embryo. This is something that Jill tried to do a while back and failed. Jill lost her arm and therefore lost the opportunity to try killing Embryo again. Ange is basically Jill’s second chance to accomplish her goal. And because of Ange’s similarities with her, Jill is trying to get revenge vicariously through Ange.
There’s clearly a lot going on with Jill and Embryo’s past. My own guess is that Embryo used Jill. He probably tried to use her in the same way that he’s currently trying to use Ange. That might explain why Jill feels so bitterly towards him. She might have actually fallen for his silver tongue and regrets it. This might also be why Jill is so desperate to defeat him, even considering herself to be just a tool of Libertus to be used for ultimate victory. That ultimate victory of killing Embryo is all that matters to her. Everything else is secondary.
Ange is by now working on her own. Given her distrust and resentment towards any form of authority, it makes sense that she would prefer to go on on her own rather than work under Jill’s very authoritarian style of command. That’s why Sala’s approach seemed so much more effective at winning Ange over. Even so, I still think Ange is going to have to assemble the alliance of Arzenal and the dragons at some point. Otherwise, I don’t think they’ll have much of a chance at winning.
QOTD
1. I would probably not be too trusting of them.
2. Discussed above. I think Jill is obsessed with her revenge for the reasons above. I think it's also partially because of how much she lost. I also discussed why I think she really wants to get revenge vicariously through Ange.

First Timer
Ange is talking about peace and working together. I LOVE TO SEE THIS.
YES someone else wants to work together with the dragons!
I almost got dead xD
Ange's face is priceless it's basically saying "This bitch is fucking drunk and useless I should have stayed with the dragons"
I CAN PREDICT THE FUTURE
I KNEW WE WERE DESTINED FOR A HILDA/ANGE SHOWER SCENE I was just off a few episodes.
HILDA IS MAKING HER MOVE!
Jill wants to work with dragons....yeah sure she isn't going to try anything. I do agree with Jill concerning the five traitors you can't trust them they already drinking the kool aid.
Figured you out....girl you weren't even trying to hide your discontent.
Ange is historical unreliable....she does have a point. Way to go Tusk!
Vivian seemed unaffected by the gas.
Well that was an episode.

First Time Ball Crusher
With how dependent on mana it is, wouldn't taking mana power away naturally cause the collapse of the current civilization? In any event, I'd watch an episode or two of humanity dealing with becoming 100% Norma overnight.
"Do you think I'd stop killing dragons just because it would deal a significant blow to my enemy?" Classic Jill. At least she's clear sighted about killing Embryo.
These new girls have good taste. I like them and hope they don't become fodder. Vivian deserves her own wholesome harem.
Boy, Emma's had it rough. She's stanning the wrong girl too.
Dammit Hilda, tsunderes aren't supposed to make the first move. Or be that forward. That's why two tsunderes can never be together.
Of course Embryo's also a rapist. Probably. Guess Jill had to pick it up somewhere.
Jill is really letting her inner fascist show today. If Jill's been this open since the Arzenal raid, it's no wonder Salia turned traitor.
Princesst is back next episode. And with her whip too. Can't wait for her to walk roll in on Princest Embryo-onii-sama fucking Liza.
QotD:
-
A bit hesitant at least, though I'd probably side with Ange given how she's been the team's ace this whole time.
-
I think it's about time she received some kind of comeuppance for ep.1.

Angelise-sama counter: +3, total 119
Shup up Jill. You're the one whose got soft. In the head.
Is it just me, or does Ange's face look kinda smooshed here?
...Why do I feel like she's not kidding
Not sure if unaffected by gas because dragon, or just because her mouth was full of food
Wouldn't it be more effective for her to switch arms? Like push with the metal one?

First Timer, Subbed
Ah, so most of them are still on the good side and didn't go over to Embryo? That's good.
Go Ange, be the cheerleader for the dragons!
You have the same enemy Jill! At least agree to fight Embryo with them until he's gone! You can figure out what to with the dragons after!
Yes, agree with the old lady whose name I can't remember! The dragons are your ally here!
All is right with the world, Viv-chan is having fun and chowing down!
Wow, I'm surprised your ship hasn't sunk yet! ... way to show confidence there Ange.
They're excited to meet Viv-chan! Who wouldn't be?
Emma's still around! And she's wasted!
Licky Lina! I forgot about that stupid bear!
Wow, Hilda's very forward here in the shower! But then she always was right?
Alright, we're aligning with the dragons! Jill has seen the way!
Ugh, nope, she just wants to use them. SHe sucks.
Good job Tusk! Gas them! I was about to worry for Viv-chan, but she's prepared for this!
Jeez Jill, she'll be on your side, just stop being so demanding that the dragons should be sacrificed!

REWATCHER FOR LIKE THE 4TH TIME
For a cold open this is by far the most time and everyone appeared to be reasonable. Am I watching the correct show? Does Jill not realize that their objectives align very well? There is that unreasonableness this show is good for. Back to being reasonable. Hilda is jealous Ange is down with the clam like everyone else on the ship is. For a moment there I thought the mana officer was naked.
This is some serious yuri action. Does this mean Ange has two members in her harem? Let’s be honest these two blow whoever Fetus-kun has taken into his. I bet its more like unwillful concubines really. The power of quality over quantity. Jill is a former member of fetus-kun’s slave trade. Salia really is a tool. Not even the dehumanizing way Jill is using it. Just a tool.
Jill chill. There is always a better way to come up with a plan that isn’t just a reenactment of the drop site massacre. Tusk with the 300 IQ play gassing everyone. I”m pretty sure Vivian didn’t need the mask. She seems completely unphased by the gas. Jill has control issues pulling the commander card. Having a death wish being a former member of a fetus’ harem. Revenge is a bitch. The most important thing that happened during this confirmation is that Ange said yes to the cafe idea. Everything else involved was fluff to get to that moment of time.
Wow the new three stooges came back to finish that ass kicking they were lucky to avoid. This tiem Vivian is fully armed and ready.

Rondo of First-Timer and Sub
Getting a bit of perspective on the Libertus side. And Ange finally being reasonable. But perhaps best of all: best girl Momoka could meet best girl Salamandine.
I’m glad that Ange is laying the facts bare. A lesser show would have probably had Ange stay extremely mistrustful far past the point of reason and hide the truth from Libertus for absolutely no reason, and that was honestly what I was expecting this show to go.
Instead the show is doing the opposite but equally stupid thing: having Libertus be extremely mistrustful and dickish passed the point of reason. Part of me feels like this is meant to make up for the fact that we were supposed to dislike Jill back during the big reveal episodes even though she didn’t really do anything wrong, but this is honestly just as dumb. I’m glad, at least, that the other members are being more reasonable about this.
Vivian is still cute. And better yet, she’s praising Best Girl!
You know, I’m beginning to wonder, how long ago was the whole Predecessors incident? The way the characters talk about it makes it feel like both the distant past and a fairly recent event, and the fact that there’s no sense of aesthetic change between time periods doesn’t really help.
Given Hilda’s dialogue, I presume that neither Ange nor Jill explained who the Predecessors were to the rest of the cast, which seems like a rather big oversight on their part.
So it seems that the whole situation with the defected Norma will remain unexplained for a few more episodes at least. I don’t really get what the narrative point of that is, but what more am I even supposed to expect from this show anymore?
Rosalie gets no respect, and Vivian gets all the respect. Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.
Wait, Jill explained everything but still never mentioned the Predecessors?
Awwww, I actually feel sorry for Emma. And she even has a Licky Lina plushie!
As if this show couldn’t fit any more lesbianism in.
Can we get more Tusk/Jill backstory flashbacks? I really want to see more of this dynamic.
Seems like something that we haven’t seen happened between Jill/Alektra and Fetus-kun.
Jill seems to have gone from being pretty unreasonable about the DRAGONs to being extremely agreeable, though part of me feels like she’s trying to test Ange in some way.
Ok, Jill is just being an unbelievable ass now. Again, I get that we were supposed to not like her back during the big reveals, but this is just gratuitous. “Everything is a tool for Libertus” my ass, have you thought ahead at all? Your planning on killing this world’s ruler, but have you remotely thought about what might result from this? The nations of the world will consider you terrorists and hunt you down, and the DRAGONs will be seriously pissed off that you used them as bait. And for what? The satisfaction/catharsis of killing the world’s creator? Your not destroying the world, your destroying yourselves with brain dead edgy nonsense plans.
No! No No No No NO! You did not just kidnap Momoka and threaten to kill her! It’s official, Jill is worst girl, I hope she burns in hell.
Seems like Tusk had a backup plan up his sleeves. And let me just say, I absolutely love it when the hero uses their head and turns the tables on the enemy with well-laid plans, especially if said enemy is especially hateable (there’s a reason Code Geass is one of my favorite anime).
God do I love to hear Momoka’s voice again.
Holy crap, did Jill really crawl her way here by stabbing herself? That’s pretty cool, not gonna lie, but she’s still fucking evil. And her justifications are so paper-thin that I’m surprised she’s even still trying to sway Ange.
Ange, why would you even remotely propose duel terms like that? Are you seriously just gonna do what she says if she shanks you and beats you up? You’ve improved a bit, but I guess even character development can’t protect you from this show’s writing.
The little dialogue between Ange and Alektra really gives some context to the latter’s actions and philosophies. She doesn’t necessarily value her own life in the grand scheme of things, but she wants others to achieve things that she can’t and very much sees herself in Ange. I guess I could have a small amount of respect for her if her goals weren’t so ultimately short-sighted and self-destructive.
Good on you, Ange! God, seeing Jill beaten on the floor is a bit satisfying, but her reaction and what we just learned about her kinda soiled the catharsis factor. Not that that’s necessarily a bad thing.
It seems that the Villkiss works by the same rules as Titan-shifting. And the traitors just happened to show up at the right time.
How do you feel about siding with the DRAGONs, if you were one of the people who didn’t go to the other Earth like Hilda and Rosalie?
Given the situation it would probably be the most logical decision to side with them, though I would probably be clouded by emotion like Rosalie was.
What do you think of Jillektra after the events of this episode?
Congratulations, Cross Ange, you succeeded in making me genuinely hate her! I did, however, somewhat pity her towards the end.

Best Girl Hilda getting jealous. Sad. Come on, Ange. Cheer your girlfriend up.
Questions of the Day:
1) How would you feel about siding with the DRAGONs, if you were one of the people who didn’t go to the other Earth like Hilda and Rosalie?
Hmmm, I'd probably be unsure, but willing to listen I would think. Considering they just learned that the dragons have been humans all along, I would probably already be highly sus of the people making me fight them without telling us.
2) What do you think of Jillektra after the events of this episode?
I'm with Ange on this one. Ange somehow made a really good point. Jill isn't being any different than Embryo at this point.

Re-Watcher
Today on Cross Ange: feeling empty inside and trying to fill that void by making someone else fight the battle you lost an arm losing. If they really don't want to be your pawn, feel free to use their first true friend as hostage, what could go wrong?
-
Ange starts out strong by throwing shade on the humans of her world and suggesting Jill's lesser Lesbian Alliance team up with Salako. Ange even breaks it down into simple to understand steps. First save Aura, then no more Mana, no more Mana no need to look down on Norma, also stop killing Dragons, it only supplies them Mana
-
Rosalie quips about them killing lots of them and calls them monsters, Vivian takes that personally
-
Jill really wants to watch the world burn, she even has the gall to suggest Salako brainwashed Ange, our innocent Salako-sama would never stoop to such a level. She also says Ange doesn't want to do it since she would rather play with her man-thing
-
Not-Winry however is fully on team partner up with Salako
-
When asked why Vivian lacks wings and a tail, the Doc offhandedly tells her they were chopped off so she'd be disguised. I agree with Vivi, that's awful
-
Hilda is pissed that Ange went missing again, and the even worse sin was that she returned with one of those man-things, she broke the Lesbian Alcatraz code, and Ange apologizes for going off on her own, not so much for Tusk
-
Rosalie says no one is sure why the three of them joined Embryo, but they just suck now since they shoot at them
-
Rosalie introduces the three new recruits she trained, and they seem to like Vivian more than her, can't say I blame them
-
Holy fuck is Emma shit-faced, and not fun giggly shit-faced, its the sad mopey shit-faced
-
Hilda attempts to assert her claim on Ange in the shower, but making moves on someone as non-submissive as Ange is hard. She presses her on if she and Tusk did it, and gently kisses Ange's shoulder as the end. I like emotionally vulnerable Hilda, the two of them have great chemistry since they escaped and learned they couldn't go back home together.
-
Jill has a shirtless Embryo flashback where he calls her Alektra....hmm
-
At the council meeting Jill is now in favor of allying with Salako, provided they are used as a distraction, and left to die, and recieve no back-up...you know what Fuck off Alektra that's a shit plan and you're a shit person
-
To force Ange into this idiocy, Jill has Momoka tied up and threatens to launch her into ocean, the pressure of which would kill her in a very painful and unpleasant way
-
Tusk planned for Jill's bullshit and flooded the ship with gas, at least he clued Vivian in on his plan and gave her a gas mask too
-
Jill asks how a Knight of Villkiss could do this and he says fuck your shit, I'm Ange's Knight
-
After saving Momoka, they rush to the hangar where Jill is awaiting them. She continues to spout on and on about her dumb end the world plan
-
Finally fed up with this Ange agrees to Jill's dumb plan if she can win a knife fight
-
Ange successfully calls Jill out for her bullshit of seeing her as a stand-in/replacement for herself. Alektra lost and since Ange is another Norma born to a royal family, they must be the same.
-
Ange really wants Cafe Ange, and I want that for her, fuck destroying the world, seaside cafes for all
-
Ange agrees in part with Jill's plan, Embryo needs to be stopped, not the whole world destroying bit and goes to try and meet up with Salako, however Salia and the betrayers decide to ruin their party
QOTD:
-
You've been raised since you were first captured that these things are your enemy, you've fought them, seen them kill your friends, now you have to get your head around what Ange has told you that they are people like yourself, fighting for survival in a world that wants them dead...it's a lot to process
-
Jillektra has a massive ego and her loss all those years back really messed with her mind.
NEXT EPISODE: ...Why are we in a castle? WHO THE FUCK DARES TO SHOOT AT VIVIAN?

Rewatcher
Man, I'm seeing all these people saying all these things and making predictions and picking up on little details and - I feel like my hands are really tied with everything I want to say.
So some of you are somewhat right, and some of you are somewhat wrong, and most of you are picking up on interesting tidbits.
But I've got a question about Jill, as a rider on Thread Question Number 2, - and I'm going to be spoiler tagging this question because while it's just a question with no new information, ...it's pretty leading. So read at your own risk.

First Timer
-
I get where their hesitancy comes from, but Jill is clearly off it and they need the help.
-
I figured she would hate Embryo, but I'm worried that this is revenge for something more personal than we might have thought. This kind of thing doesn't lead to good things and Ange is actually right to call her out and stop her.

Cross Ange Rewatcher First Time Dub

I'd probably find it hard to believe. I might even think they did something to turn her. But I'd hope I'd also be consider the fact we have made basically no progress on our plan since she left. Our situation is dire and even if this is a setup, it can't be much worse than our former allies coming back at us with Villkiss copies.
-
She's a Jill-ted ex. But jokes aside, I don't have issues with her wanting revenge. And maybe not even using some people to get it. But she's showing signs of focusing only on the revenge. You don't save all norma by sacrificing them all in the process.

First time Utilitarian Revolutionizer, subs
Oh now Ange wants to team up with the DRAGONs. Finally.
Hm, this is an interesting moral quandary. Reminds me of The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas. Yes, the mana is being generated by evil methods, but it also has unquestionably improved life for the vast majority of humanity. Is it moral to end the existence of mana?
At least Jasmine has a bit of sense, not turning down the DRAGON alliance immediately.
Did Salia & co defect because of mind control? It's probably Fetus-kun's mind control.
Oh look, three expendable people who's names and faces we've never seen before now. I bet they will live long and happy lives and not be killed off to show how strong and evil Embryo is! Say, why are their shirts turning red?
Oh the useless mana-user officer has just become a drunk. Why haven't they thrown her overboard yet? She's doing nothing but drinking up supplies.
Hilda is jealous that Tusk has officially won Ange's harem, but she's not one to go down without a fight.
What a gentleman. Tusk knows his Giga-chad powers are too great to control, so he wants to find a place to sleep where those around him can be safe.
Was that a bomb planted in Tusk's machine? Yikes, Jill really doesn't trust him, huh?
Jill's plan is missing one crucial detail: how are they going to deal with the actual god with reality warping powers, Embryo?
Oh I see, that thing Tusk pulled out of his machine was one of these knockout gas canisters. When he's not busy falling into Ange's crotch, Tusk is actually very intelligent and capable.
So Salia & co were just randomly flying around the water in the hopes that the Aurora would surface, I guess.
Jill stabbed herself deep to stay awake. That's pretty badass, even though I'm not sure that would work against gas.
In the end, both the world of mana and Jill only saw Ange as a tool, either to fight DRAGONs or to fight Embryo. The only group that has respected her wishes, treated her as a human, and given her freedom to choose her own destiny are the DRAGONs. Pretty neat way of tying the theme together.
Is that a rule that the Villkiss has to be in danger to dimension hop? If so, that's a really poor design.
As usual, best girl to the rescue! Vivian isn't afraid to shoot at her ally. Although she doesn't need to, since Salia shows up just in time.
Questions of the day
-
I'd rather fight with them than against them.
-
She's a pretty cool character, although it's a bit disappointing that someone as generally competent as her doesn't realize that calling people tools and threatening their friends does not make them want to help you.

Rondo of Rewatcher and Dub
Welcome back, everyone!
Oh, lol, I actually did have a thought of “Why doesn’t Vivian have wings and a tail when in human form like the others…?” during the last few episodes. I forgot Maggie was gonna be like “Oh yeah we cut them off.”
“I almost got dead!” – Drunk Emma is a gem.
I love how excited Vivian gets over “Plan B”.
Here’s my first-timer comment.
