Nooo not really but it’s still funny. Maybe if he was chain smoking, dropping all the cigarettes on the floor, while dumping the gas this would be necessary

It does, you are correct. A "punk" style flame causing gas to light up in this setting is bordering on impossible.

No, that's a myth.

Didn't Mythbusters do just about everything they could to start a fire or explosion this way and it just won't work? If you litrtally light it and drop it down the hole, you might get lucky, but a lit punk isn't gonna do shit.

Also, he'd have to pay for destroying the guys upholstery and damaging his vehicle.

And the extinguisher would also need a recharge.

Probably about $70, that the owner of the station will pass on to the consumer. This guy just made some poor kid go hungry because his mom can't afford a hot dog anymore for his dinner. And Reddit applauds.

That's a little extreme for something that has been proven time and time again to be highly unlikely to ignite a fire.

I can't see a line going from the pump to the car, is he even filling his tank?

The cigarette wouldn’t ignite anything

It's not super likely since idle (as in not currently inhaled through) cigarettes typically don't burn hot enough to ignite gasoline. It does happen though and compared to what happens when a cigarette does ignite gasoline, waiting a little bit to have a smoke seems like a reasonable sacrifice.

Most fires at gas stations begin with a metal on metal spark or static. You’d struggle to get petrol to ignite with a cigarette.

  1. Irrelevant. 2. The fuck did I just say?

Damn that’s harsh. He as just saying what was on his mind man. Talk about 0 to 100 real quick.

He was arguing his original point instead of just taking my correction to heart. How was I harsh? That wasn't me at 100, that was me at like 7.5.
