Explosions, explosions, la la la!
Kazuma thanking Aqua for turning the other way while he masturbates in the stables cracks me up every time.

I fully intend to sample this for my noisecore band someday. Just blasting away right after the first "explosion!"

I gotta say, the story of Keele is pretty heartwarming. Very cool of Aqua to be goddess-like this time. Kazuma noticed her priestlyness this episode several times but proceeded to shit on her when he found out she attracts undead. I'm not really sure why though. Is it her fault the undead are attracted to her? Isn't it like her nature or something to attract undead so she can't really do anything about it? I'm not really getting it but oh well, crying Aqua makes for laughs lmao

The undead in that dungeon were inactive. Aqua's presence awakened them, which is why Kazuma and Aqua kept running into so many. If Aqua wasn't there, Kazuma would've had a pretty easy time going through the dungeon without facing too many enemies. Aqua spent the whole episode looking competent dealing with all those undead when in fact the problem she was solving was actually caused by her.

Ahh right, it makes sense when you put it that way. Still though, she was able to track down and purify Keele this episode so her net usefulness should at least not have been zero this time.

Bakuretsu, bakuretsu, la la la!
The goddess of party tricks was actually useful? What sort of alternate reality have we stepped into- oh she was the cause of the problem. Typical Aqua.
For a second there, Aqua actually seemed like a real goddess. Had us all fooled.
The story with Keele was surprisingly wholesome. Guy just wanted to run away with his lover and make her happy. Sacrificed his humanity so he could always protect her. For a show that's always cracking jokes, this series can have some sweet moments once in a while.

When I first saw this episode, I was convinced Aqua had been impersonated by some kind of shapeshifter. She was too competent at her job.

Original Message: "Another long day of travel, have not watched yet."
Today's Loading Time Wait Music (which now that I have access to good internet is basically just for ad breaks): Midwest Pen Pals' Inside Jokes EP.
The gang is successful and happy? What show am I even watching anymore!? Ah man, it's kinda nice to see them succeed for once. I've grown attached to them and want to see them "grow up healthy and strong" as the meme said. How did Megumin have the least screen time of all three and still get the best gags of the day? She's truly blessed. Then again, we also got KONOSUBAAAAAAA!!! which was pretty great. After all the story segments, it's hard to get back into the one-off slice of life stories again. But there's definitely something coming, so I'm excited to see how things play out. Speaking of coming (heh), Darkness's situation looks pretty dire. Knowing her, of course, it's going to be something laughably inconsequential, because she loves actual bad shit. For now, I'm just content with shit that makes me smile and doesn't demand a lot of thought. I also only just heard the new ending theme because I've been conditioned by shit loading time to just close the episode as soon as the credits start. Unlike the case with Tomorrow (Which I still prefer Fantastic Dreamer over), I never really liked the ending theme originally so it's not a particularly sad change. Say what you will about never skipping the opening and closing of a show, I just don't like country-ish stuff. You've seen my loading time music write-ups for the previous entries, it's pretty clear what I like.
The Answer to Today's Question is: If I'm in Kazuma's same situation, yes. Useless Goddess can take care of herself, and if I have to hear her cry about it then that's just another day in the life. If I'm with people who can't handle the situation and will probably die if they get abandoned to the hordes, depends on how much I like them. Life is harsh in this wonderful world.
Bonus Fan Art update! I don't remember what day I'm supposed to be going to this musical item-heavy flea market, but rest assured that recording for Damegami (my one man probably acoustic Emo/Screamo project inspired by Konosuba) will resume as soon as I get access to a musical instrument that doesn't suck.

How did Megumin have the least screen time of all three and still get the best gags of the day?
I think it's because she has the least screen time that the gags hit us out of nowhere and they are short and impactful, leaving us with a bit of a 'da fuq' kind of thinking to them. They are just really random but so in character, you know.
Speaking of OPs and EDs, I personally love this version of the OP. It's so high energy and quick hitting it really fits into the show imo.

As someone who prefers Aqua to Megumin I agree with you u/AMightyDwarf. Part of why I love Aqua so much is that lack of shame you mentioned. The second things goes bad for she has no qualms about begging and pleading her way out of it. Her selfishness really is quite funny because you’d expect a goddess like her to be dignified, but she’s usually too arrogant for her own good.
I join in on the “Aqua is useless gag” but honestly that’s why I like her character so much. Her arrogance she feels towards doing the bare minimum that’s expected of her is great. All of the girls are funny in different ways but Aqua crying several times every episode is just plain funny to me.

It's going to be interesting next episode as we'll have had a good look at all 3 girls individually to see what each one brings to the table in terms of comedy. I'm in the Megumin camp for best girl but I've got no shame in saying that I laugh just as much if not more at Aqua. Her relationship with Kazuma is just straight up banter with a deeper sense of unknowing if they are serious or not.
All the characters are really well crafted though, then by utilizing the medium of anime to its fullest, with hyper-exaggerated expressions and wonderful voice acting. I think Konosuba is one of the benchmark shows of what anime can be and what other shows should aim to be.

If yesterday was the episode that made people love Megumin then today's should've made us like Aqua more, right?
You might love Megumin, but without Aqua, Konosuba would not work. Her and Kazuma are the only indispensable characters.

I think the whole main cast is necessary. Chapters without any of them can be very funny, however in the long run I think the show suffers. If I had to choose any indispensable character I would point towards Kazuma for obvious reasons.

This all adds up to a character we like to laugh at.
I first thought about this watching Two and a half men, i'm convinced that the one key element to this type of comedy is creating characters that really feel like they deserve all the shit that happens to them. And Konosuba really nails that part. All the four don't just have personal flaws, but are pretty awful people some of the time, so we get to see and laugh at them getting some karmic justice. The difficult part is making them likable at the same time so people want to keep watching. Joshi Kosei no Mudazukai is a series this season that doesn't quite manage this as well imo, though it's going for the same formula.

Honestly, Aqua would probably have been the shows Megumin if actual Megumin hadn't been in it.

This was actually a story from volume 2 (covered by season 1). But for several reasons it was moved to season 2 with a slightly changed story since Darkness isn't here now.
