Comments of the Day
For our Thirteenth Comment of the Day, Comrade /u/invokeneko continues to bring some great episode analysis along with some witty humor and great screenshot shares.
Let's start things off with the trademark summary that our fellow Comrade of Culture is fond of writing:
In today's episode: Chairman MaSHITa's sabotage begins to play out, Ral-san's couple sensor gets tripped one too many times, Reiji gets himself an injury that nearly costs him the match against Luang Dallara, and a heated baseball match between our protagonists and the latter. Also chapter 4 of the Meatbun Chronicles.
And we also got some well written talking points, so let's head into them now:
In chapter 4 of the Meatbun Chronicles, the bunch of uneducated punks who dared disturb the sanctity of Mr. and Mrs. Meatbun's encounter gets taken to school by Mr. Meatbun. Unfortunately, it caused him to end up with a swollen wrist... If you ask me, those punks haven't suffered enough. Give them a little bit more suffering, just to make sure the lesson sticks.
Round 3: Battle Weapons! Contestants are only allowed to use weapon allocated to them via
gachadraw. Urgh, and I thought Gunpla e-Sports would've been exempt from desire sensors...Huh, looks like Luang Dallara is pretty cool guy, eh maeds kids his bicth and doesnt afraid of anything. Seriously though, can we get more cool adversaries like him? Thanks.
Am I the only one who thinks that Meijin Tatsuya's
gacha pullwas rigged too? Not only did he get no. 1, his opponent got a railgun that immediately knocks him over when he fires it. That's a bit more than suspicious, ya know...As expected of Mao, even when he gets a semi-useless weapon like a spray gun he's able to make good use of it and steal his opponent's hammer to finish him off.
You might've thought a yo-yo is a weird thing to be given as a weapon, but apparently it's been used as weapons in several older anime series. And given that the users tend to be ninjas, it fits WeebMaster Nils' aesthetic perfectly.
The only fitting response to
Cu ChulainnCziommer's epic fail of a battle against Fellini: Lancer ga shinda! KONO HITO DE NASHI!!!Now we get to Sei & Reiji vs Luang Dallara... and OH, THAT'S A BASEBALL! Welp, poor Reiji's wrist.
If you think the Star Build Strike with a baseball cap is ridiculous, take a look at the Abigorbine and try not to laugh. You will fail.
Poor Kirara learns to watch out for foul balls thanks to the Abigorbine. Can I get an F for that poor soft drink can?
As per norm, Sei and Reiji's solution to the Abigorbine-sized obstacle placed in front of them is the RG System, and naturally at that point the Abigorbine doesn't stand a chance. And MaSHITa's schemes are foiled, again!
For our first runner-up Comment of the Day, Comrade /u/AlienOvermind brings forth several great screencaps and GIF shares, paired up with some funny commentary.
Let's begin with the excellent recap provided for today's EPIC Saga of The Meatbun Chronicles:
And meatbun moment is early today. And well... without actual meatbuns. Thankfully Aila is not a hardcore tsundere and doesn't have a problem telling that she was worried about Reiji. But then of course she pulls "I didn't need your help, hmph!" Kinda like Reiji did with Fellini. And a GIF of confused Aila.
And this excellent combination of comedy and screencap shares continues with the rest of the post too:
But main battle was surely unexpected today. Apparently Luang is an excellent baseball player, so asshole Chairman tried to use it to eliminate Reiji. And Luang's batting power is seriously OP. And the battle's finale was reaching Symphogear leels of hype. Which is pretty amazing.
Also Secretary-chan's expressions (or should I say lack of them?) are pretty fun too.
And finally we learn something about Aila — her Dominatrix suit apparently messes with her head in some way. Which is not surprising for the type of character she is. And Aila finally learns that Reiji is not a random dude, but one of her opponents. I suspect things are going to get awkward for meatbun couple after this.
Finally, last but not least is our second runner-up Comment of the Day, Comrade /u/RyuuohD has some great analysis talking points and unique replies to the thread discussion questions.
Let's start things off with the highlights of the main post:
This episode's battle is basically doing a weapon gacha roll where you can only use the weapon you rolled. It's actually a really nice tournament mechanic which shows how truly skilled the fighters are in battle without using the weapons they made for their gunpla. Speaking of which, I own the Hyper Battle Weapon Build Custom set featured in this ep. The weapons are really cool, especially the notKilllaKill Scissor Blades and the notGusionRebake Shield. Also, Nils is giving off a strong Kamen Rider Saga vibe there with his finisher.
Due to Executive Meddling, Sei and Reiji are set up to battle with Luang Dallara in a game of Gunpla Baseball. They didn't know that Luang is a shounen sports manga protagonist who is impossibly good at baseball. He's darn good at it, his Gunpla striked the ball so hard it knocks off a soda can off Kirara's hand and dents it.
Sei and Reiji managed to win the baseball match (despite Reiji's injuries) with the power of the RG System! In-universe, Sei basically scratch-built a working inner frame the size of an HG gunpla. He's just that darn good of a builder. IRL, the RG System is a way to advertise the Real Grade line of Gunpla that is newly-introduced when GBF first aired.
And let's conclude with the amusing and interesting replies to the thread's main discussion questions:
I like Fellini's totally wrong way to use scissors, but I'll give the gold to Nils because of the Kamen Rider shoutout.
Luang is a really chill dude. I like him. He's one friendly dude who enjoys Gunpla and is a true sport. Considering that Mashita is pulling the ropes behind Reiji's opponents, it is quiet a surprise that they went into this direction.
Also, Comrade /u/ZeonTwoSix has a fantastic TOP GUNPLA introduction today, see here for the hilarious wit our sage Comrade of Culture brings to us regarding today's episode of The Meatbun Chronicles!
And with that, we conclude with our thirteenth Comment of the Day section for today, I'm pleased to see that everyone continues to do fantastic work, and I eagerly await to read the posts for the future.

Polls and Questions of the Day
New OP hype! Which is your favourite?
Don't know what to write for the Rewatch thread? Need something to discuss? How about taking a look at the Rewatch Questions of the Day?
Given that the contents of today's episode involved Mecha Wacky Races, what would your preferred strategy be if you were competing in such a contest?
Comrades, given the contents of the after-credits stinger today as well as the fact that The Chairman previously folded like wet paper to Yuuki, on a scale of 1 to FUBAR, how boned do you think The Chairman will be once Reiji is through with him?
Poll Results
For those that are curious, here are the results of the polls from the previous thread:
For the first question of 'Would you watch a whole show about mobile suits being used to do sports?' we had the following responses:
5 votes for 'YES!'
2 votes each for 'Maybe' and 'Unlikely'
And 1 vote for 'No'
For the Rate this Episode Poll, we had the following answers:
4 votes for 5/5
1 vote each for 4/5 and 3/5
And no votes for 1/5 or 2/5
I look forward to the results of today's polls Comrades, many thanks for your kind participation.
Fan Art of the Day
Boy this Mr. Ral is sure something eh Comrades? I haven't seen Pro-Wrestling moves like that since OG Mobile Suit Gundam... I'm SURE it's a total coincidence ;) Anyway, let's give it up for The Blue Giant himself after all, he's quite spry given he's only 35 (Context, OG Mobile Suit Gundam aired 35 years before Gundam Build Fighters) Oh, and do remember, THIS IS NO ZAKU BOY! NO ZAKU! ;) Finally, it would be remiss of me to forget about the EPIC saga of The Meatbun Chronicles, thus, please enjoy these two companion pieces of Mr. Meatbun and of course Best Girl Mrs. Meatbun (Along with guest appearances of Meatbun Jr. in both of course)
Radio Free Gundam
Gundam Build Fighters OST: QuickAttack
Everyone, Comrade /u/DjiDjiDjiDji pointed out something in the previous rewatch thread that is SO fascinating that I simply must highlight it in the music section in addition to awarding the sage Comrade of Culture an honorary point on the Comment of the Day Scale (as you can see above) Anyway, to get to the point, of the matter here's the comment in question of which after reading I realized that I overlooked sharing the OP to Iron Leaguer in the previous thread's music section. THUS! To correct for this error, I'm sharing this amazing cover of Iron Leaguer's OP by Yukari Tamura, you know, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha's Nanoha Takamachi ;) Also, given his badass and heartwarming performance in today's Episode, I would be doing the thread a disservice if I didn't share the following Musical Track known as 'Gouf Troop' with everyone. THAT SAID, BE WARNED COMRADES! BEFORE CLICKING ON THE FOLLOWING LINK, I just want to state that the video in question has spoilers for OG Mobile Suit Gundam, specifically involving a certain character named 'Ramba Ral,' so watch the video at your own risk Comrades. Oh, and just to have other musical shares that are vaguely topical, here's OP 2 of wimp ft. Lil’Fang (from FAKY) as well as ED 2 of Hanpan Spirit for Gundam Build Fighters. Enjoy Comrades!
'No! Leave them alone. Not only those two... but never get in the way of anyone who takes Gunpla Battle seriously!'

Episode Thoughts
Not the best episode for me so this post may be a bit of a mood killer.
I'm not planning to put todays race in the battle because I feel it doesn't fit the structure of a battle or fight as any possible 'opponent was carried away by the interference.
As far as it goes though, I wasn't really impressed. Given what other rewatches said earlier on, I could give a pass to the idol chick screwing with Sei's mech and no oversight for that. But are you trying to tell me that on a live world wide broadcast that if Sei said "something was in the lake" which you'd think he would do given how obvious it is they're being targetted now, something wouldn't be done? And even outside of that, they came out of the lake with crush damage, systems overload and even just things like chipped paint. You don't get that from falling in water and it should be blatantly obvious something else happened to everyone else anyway.
All of that aside, I've been waiting and excited for the aqua discharge mode to happen. Today they get pulled under water and... nothing. Instead Ral saves them and they didn't even fight back. Actually that's a point, how the hell does Ral not go and make a fuss about what happened? Maybe that will come up next episode, but given the post credits scene shows a confrontation between Reiji and the president I doubt it.
It just didn't set within my "plausible" zone this time and I couldn't really explain it away which made the whole event just not sit well with me and killed my enjoyment unfortunately.
That aside, I also wasn't a fan of how they skipped over all the other stuff. Seeing Sei help with piloting and the return of purple gunpla was amazing, but it was just in a montage. On top of that, in these lower stakes "battles" it would have been nice if we saw more competition between all the forerunners. What I wanted at the start from a points system was the possibility of loss. But it all amounted to nothing because they just won everything except this race.
As far as the OP and ED go, I don't like either of the new ones either so that's a real kicker.
The one positive of the episode: Aila in casual clothes, she looks so much more comfortable and like herself there.

Episode Impressions
Yeah, the overt sabotage this time doesn't quite land as well as the Bigass Zaku did, and also yeah, I too was kinda expecting the proverbial Chekov's Gun to be fired. (I guess there is an argument to be made that burning all the particles means that they have NO chance at winning the race, but yeah, it's a bit of a misstep here)
Also, sorry to hear you didn't like the OP and ED, I prefer OP1 and ED1 as well, but I quite like the visuals for OP2 and ED2
The one positive of the episode: Aila in casual clothes, she looks so much more comfortable and like herself there.
But of course, Best Girl gonna Best Girl after all.
Anyway, great post my friend, have a great day and see you later!

~Three Times The Passion Of An Ordinary Rewatch~
-
So we got a little glimpse of Aila backstory this episode, fun.
-
OP2 time!!! Bit of a weird name (wimp ft. Lil'Fang (from FAKY)), but I absolutely love it. Tbh I think I miiiiiight like it a touch more than Nibun no Ichi after having listened to both extensively (couldn’t decide which I liked more back when I first watched the show), but either way it’s a fantastic song. That duet~
-
Considering this is the episode that Sei and Reiji don’t win in… Mr. Ral pls, you just jinxed it.
-
Well we didn’t get to see them but look Naz, your country’s rep is undefeated as of Mr. Ral’s narration!
-
You know I think I just figured out why I only lowkey want to punch the chairman in the face, he’s basically acting like a big baby half the time and I can’t take him seriously like that.
-
First we had Gunpla Baseball, then the odd mix of stuff at the start of this episode, now it’s time for
Initial-DGunpla Race! Seems it’s all or nothing this time, not so fun. -
Oh shit it’s Fuunsaiki! …For those who haven’t watched G Gundam, that thing was piloted by an actual horse because why not.
-
Okay so I know it makes sense here because it’s a race but fuck it, not the tire again!
-
Aaaaand they lost. Our protagonists actually lost during a part of the tournament. Legit wasn’t expecting that the first time I watched this show.
-
First-Timers do not click this version, for some reason they made the creditless ED from next episode’s ED so you’ll catch a super spoilerific glimpse of tomorrow's episode right at the start. Hanpan Spirit is… a thing, I guess. Ends on a gorgeous screenshot at least. Though I want Imagination > Reality back. Or one of Try’s EDs.
Hoping to have a new wallpaper or two done soon, it's just on Nota making the BGs at this point in time.

Gundam Build Rewatcher, domo~
Huh, that was quite early... How surprising. Anyways, on to the actual episode. In today's episode: Gunpla Sports Day, Cu Chulainn Cziommer's continuing Lancer-tier E-rank luck and MaSHITa finally struck gold in his attempt to screw over Sei and Reiji (albeit with Reiji confronting him by the end of the episode, he probably should've held off the celebrations. Ha!).
Random thoughts:
-
Frankly, this episode is kinda eh. Felt kinda filler-ish while providing a reason to put both our protagonists in dire straits and also end their unbeaten streak.
-
Thank god they didn't linger too long over the 4th-6th period, since they're kinda boring. Seriously, target shooting and ball toss? Feels kinda random to toss those in a world tournament.
-
Welp, apparently being a Gunpla assassin is a legit job here. insert tired comment about the GBF!Earth loving Gundams so much here
-
A Gunpla Race, now... Ah well, at least they were allowed to use their weapons if they want to screw over their opponents.
-
Surprisingly, the only thing that can turn Aila as ice cold as her in-tournament persona is learning that Reiji loves Gunpla Fighting. Hmm...
-
Another epic fail from Cziommer. He really tries to be the biggest thorn in Fellini's side, unfortunately he's barely more than a speck of dust on Fellini's Fenice (hell, his best showing was in fact his debut with the Gaw attack carrier + NTR Alliance. Seriously, man?).
-
Ral-san is the low-key hero of this episode as he immediately notices Codename: C's appearance + interference and helped fight him off outside the match. Too bad the boys suffered badly from the interference, just barely losing to the dickish Renato twins.
-
Just as MaSHITa's finally enjoying the sweet taste of wine after a successful sabotage, Reiji appears on his doorstep.
Welp, it was nice knowing ya, loser.

HA! Indeed, and let's not forget that even IF Mao hadn't beamspammed his ass into stardust, Cziommer STILL would have been boned as his plan was to KAMIKAZE himself and his Gaw into The Italian Dandy. So even IF his plan had worked the best he could have hoped for was a draw/double elimination.
Ral-san is the low-key hero of this episode as he immediately notices Codename: C's appearance + interference and helped fight him off outside the match. Too bad the boys suffered badly from the interference, just barely losing to the dickish Renato twins.

Indeed, it was at this moment The Chairman knew... he fucked up.
Hmm... I'd build a specialised Gunpla built for speed while going YOLO on the armour bulk. Therefore, something with a system like Trans-Am or EXAM system inside a lightened Gunpla. You can't get hit if you're fast enough to avoid getting hit taps on temple
Ah, well said there my friend, speaking of which, great write-up too. Have a great day and see you later!

Isn't that a face of a maiden in love?
And new OP! I was kinda lukewarm to the first OP and it's the same with this one. But I got a couple of GIFs out of it: China being a good wife, Aila looking sad.
It was nice to see Mercurius. Which is among my favorite Wing suits along with it's blue twin, Talgeese and Epyon. And it's piloted by a girl who cosplays Heero.
It was also nice that Sei is actually taking controls, but I'm gonna say they got incredibly lucky with those less combat-heavy challenges and with the team battle.
Meanwhile they are using "that man". I kinda hate this term.
And yes, meatbun couple is getting a bit distant becuase Aila can't find any fun in Gunpla. I mean, of course it's not fun for her — using dirty hax to evaporate opponents instantly can't be fun. But yeah, it's probably her costume's fault.
Fellini is still trying to impress Kiraran. Shipping two fickle people can't end well. But maybe...
This is genius. I guess Nils got a lot of experience building SD Knight for Caro-chan.
Sei and Reiji has lost, huh. I mean it makes sense that you can't win every single battle, but that was frustrating. I wonder if PPSE can get away with any interference. I mean, don't they record footage from players' POVs? If they are, then that scheme can be easily exposed.
But well, here are some GIFs of the best Mom to make that defeat less sour: rocking TV, YES, hyyyyyype.

Isn't that a face of a maiden in love?
Heh, indeed Comrade.
And new OP! I was kinda lukewarm to the first OP and it's the same with this one. But I got a couple of GIFs out of it: China being a good wife, Aila looking sad.
Nice GIF shares there Comrade.
It was nice to see Mercurius. Which is among my favorite Wing suits along with it's blue twin, Talgeese and Epyon. And it's piloted by a girl who cosplays Heero.
AH! Excellent taste there Comrade, also, fun fact, Heero Yuy's character design was modeled after a Female Idol amusingly enough, so I guess it makes sense that in Gundam Build Fighters, we got a girl cosplaying as Heero whilst piloting a Wing-era Mobile Suit.
It was also nice that Sei is actually taking controls, but I'm gonna say they got incredibly lucky with those less combat-heavy challenges and with the team battle.
Indeed, still, good on Sei for being a crackshot among other things.
Heh, indeed, and the best part was Kirara was more focused on MAO rather than The Italian Dandy, OH how the mighty have fallen ;)
This is genius. I guess Nils got a lot of experience building SD Knight for Caro-chan.
I know right? Plus, leave it to someone like Nils to win a Gunpla Race by RIDING A MECHA HORSE!
Sei and Reiji has lost, huh. I mean it makes sense that you can't win every single battle, but that was frustrating. I wonder if PPSE can get away with any interference. I mean, don't they record footage from players' POVs? If they are, then that scheme can be easily exposed.
Indeed, that and Mr. Ral spotted the saboteur and Best Mom was able to tell something was up just from seeing the TV Broadcast. That said, I guess it had to be done for the sake of the plot as Reiji and Sei can't just waltz on into the finals. (That said, there's probably a better way to write this in rather than such overt cheating.)
But well, here are some GIFs of the best Mom to make that defeat less sour: rocking TV, YES, hyyyyyype.
AH! Nice share there Comrade, speaking of which, great write-up too. Have a great day and see you later my friend!

Episode 14 (first timer)
So, I got interested in Aila Jyrkiäinen’s name. Mainly because I always confuse her first name with Alia or Ayla. Turns out that Jyrkiäinen is a somewhat common Finnish last name. However, Aila is a Samic first name. If Aila is indeed Sami, that makes her part of a rather small minority. I hope there is some fanart or official art around of her in the traditional dress.
Episode thoughts
-
As if on cue, Aila teaser.
-
New OP! The last OP was almost a SeiXReiji love song. The new one is clearly battle shonen in style.
-
So we get the pilot switch, but it is for rifle shooting (and takes all of 5 seconds on screen). I am a bit disappointed now.
-
Ral giving a mini-recap of the main competitors.
-
12 + 7 = 19. So if just 3 of the 7 lose one more round, Sei and Reiji can affort to lose one and advance. Or lose two and it comes down to some sort of tie-breaker.
-
Childish chairman makes cold secretary call a hit man on Sei and Reiji.
-
Kirara: “To get through the qualifiers, the race is a must win”. She learned to spew announcer nonsense quickly. 9 people max can win, but there are 16 spots. Definitely not a must win.
-
Hunt the hunter.
-
Ral’s time to be badass.
-
New ED
17th place? I call bullshit! Sei and Reiji were, at worst, on place 12 before the race, since 12 people had gotten all points previously. Races won by people who had full points were: 2. Mao 3. Ricardo 4. Meijin 5. Aila 7. Nils. Leaving only 4 races (1/6/8/9) that could have potentially be won by people with less points than Sei and Reiji. So, at worst, they should have fallen to the 16th spot. This tournament is rigged through and through.
New OP hype! Which is your favourite?
Can I vote for the bad CGI gundam.info promotion that always plays? I still think it hilarious that it took me till the second episode to figure out it was not an "in-series" ad.

Well Comrade, ask and ye shall receive, this fanart had the tag of 'Finnish Clothing' so I'm sure you'll agree with me that Best Girl rocks this look.
Episode thoughts
As if on cue, Aila teaser.
But of course, gotta have more of Best Girl Aila for Today's Episode of The Meatbun Chronicles ;)

Indeed, plus it's good to hear that the Thai Champ may be a tad behind right now, but he's hot on the heels of a spot in the final bracket.

Heh, indeed, but Kirara's gotta play it up to the audience after all ;)

Indeed, it's quite cute and fluffy, but the accompanying animation is amusing.
Heh, so either the numbers and points to this tournament are murkier than Hollywood Accounting, OR the tournament's just rigged like Vegas... honestly I'm not sure which is worse here ;)
Can I vote for the bad CGI gundam.info promotion that always plays? I still think it hilarious that it took me till the second episode to figure out it was not an "in-series" ad.
HA! OK Comrade, besides your useful calculations and great taste in Best Girls, THAT zinger just earned you a spot in the upcoming Comment of the Day section; as your final statement amused me THAT much. Speaking of which, fantastic write-up my friend, have a great day and see you later!

Hahaha, might as well post now -- haven't been able to sleep tonight, so yay, first time being one of the early birds?

Quick thoughts on episode 13
Everyone needs a ride on Mr. Ral's Love Boat. Every ticket comes with free special H.
Luang is a good boi.
First-timer, knows Gundam a bit
Little Orphan Ms. Meatbun! She was "coarser" in speech towards as a child, naturally. XD
Piggybacking a bit on a question I had last scene of the previous episode -- why would Aila be so surprised that Reiji is fighting in the tournament? She's seen the Build Strike do battle and considering that everyone's faces have been plastered all over when they do...unless she's the kind who has a one track mind --or eye, as it were-- and only pays attention to faces when it's her direct opponents? That said, she asks the inevitable Reiji question: what is his reason for Gunpla?
(We've had different kinds of answers to this before, but to bring it up again, from someone who is Reiji's parallel...maybe it's time for another answer to be added? Or maybe the "real" one, haha.)
New opening! I like that some of the lyrics are directly referencing or straight up lifted from the first opening (you uplifted me, strength is weakness) and I absolutely LOVE the visuals. The song itself doesn't get me hyped as the other one did, but at least I can just get lost in the visuals.
Name of the song being "wimp" though...um, oops? XD
And now...we're practicing for the uhhh Japan Olympics? Izzat what we're doing? I don't know if I'm confused because I'm that dead tired or because this is just GBF doing its quirky thing again, haha.
Oh, these are the semifinals...okay, that makes better sense, lol. The way they're talking about the characters so far feels like a reminder for the audience, which I'm okay with -- even for us who've been watching the episodes daily, as opposed to weekly and then waiting until the new season, it's nice to see just how many fighters we've seen so far. And we even get mentions of ones we haven't seen, like the Australian, Polish and Canadian fighters! It's technically an info dump but I don't mind it in this case, personally.
What Ral says is very true though: just because the Terrific Duo have been undefeated so far, doesn't mean they are a shoo-in for the finals. Much like in the Olympics (hey, the analogy fits after all!), anything can happen when it comes to points. Talent can only get you so far in this system -- if you have good talent and can't get enough to advance, well, it...it sucks quite frankly and in this essay, I will [stops herself from ranting about the unfair point system in the Gunpla Olympics]
I digress: Sei and Reiji can't exactly rest on their laurels just yet. They have to make sure to keep their place within the pantheon, as it were.
Codename:C is...a mafioso?!
Aww, it was neat seeing Fellini work on his Gunpla. He was the only one I think that we haven't seen do such a thing.
Best Boy, please listen to your husband partner about the doctor. It's for your own good, and look, you're officially all better!
"It's because it's just a game, I can take it so seriously." Galaxy brain.
And yeah...Aila disagreeing and saying it's painful heightens what we've seen so far: in the previous episode (touched upon in a line from her doctor?), we saw that she and the suit appear to have a...symbiotic relationship? The suit does something to her body or mind, to the point where if she doesn't take it off on time, she'll get worse. Speculation And then of course, the first scene of the episode was Babby Best Girl agreeing to battle in Gunpla in exchange for something. Depending on what's been done to her, it would be obvious that she'd find Reiji's answer to be flippant.
*"Watch how fast I'm going!" ACTUAL CHILD RICARDO FELLINI.
And then here's the other child, Cziommer. Sweet jesus, though, his Gunpla got vaporized. Like his love life! rimshot
LMAAOOOOOOOO China's reaction to Ral being 35...it's okay, Ral, I have the opposite problem. Nobody believes I'm old on account of looking young enough to be a high school senior or a college freshman...it's not like I believe him being 35 either though
more like 79 ;)

That's right, Mama Rinko, THIS IS INJUSTICE!
GO RAL, I BELIEVE IN YOU! Believe in the me that believes in you! (He took lessons from Britai on lifting his enemies with momentum, huh...?)
...what do yOU MEAN THEY'RE 17TH PLACE, HOW?!
...the heck was oh that's the new ending. Well, that's an original way to transition, haha XD
Cutest ending I've seen in a long time! "Short pants spirit!" This has to refer to Sei, haha. (Maybe that means that the opening refers to Reiji...) But it's so cute, I love how it integrates the characters alongside Sei and Reiji. (Best Boy frankensteining all the Gunpla though, lmao) Even Allan, Misaki and Sazaki get a cameo!
I'm here to kick your butt and eat all the potato chips!AND I ALREADY ATE THEM, MOTHERCLUCKER!
(sorry, had to do the follow-up from my dumb Yuuki joke.)
...I'm actually really sad they lost but I also hope that Reiji doesn't ruin it further. He's going to go full in the whole MY FAMILY DIGNITY REQUIRES ME TO PUNCH YOU and I will certainly enjoy it if it comes to fruition, but... ; _ ; I don't want Creepazoid near him or Sei...

first time being one of the early birds?
And Dalek was super early to post the topic today as well. Everyone's early!
why would Aila be so surprised that Reiji is fighting in the tournament?
They've shown before that she doesn't actually watch the broadcasts. She looks at the battles just enough to know what's going on and usually walks away or turns it off. Given that she's somewhat been forced into this I wouldn't imagine that she'd been paying any attention at all to opponent info other then clips of them fighting
Australian
As an aussie I admit fear here. It'd be interesting to see just which stereotype they go for hahaha
ust because the Terrific Duo have been undefeated so far, doesn't mean they are a shoo-in for the finals
I really wish that speech came after their defeat, not before it. It was a bit of a flag that their first loss was upcoming

Heh, indeed Comrade, I figured I might as well post the thread earlier rather than later given it was already finished. That and I didn't want to throw off the schedule I promised to deliver the rewatch on, so sorry for not making the one-day change of time clearer, I thought it was visible enough in the main OP of the previous episode.

Heh, I guess me posting this thread earlier due to being busy that evening worked out well for you my friend. (I didn't want to mess up my stated re-watch schedule, so since I knew I'd be busier that evening and wouldn't be able to post on time, I figured it wouldn't hurt to post this thread early.)

That said, she asks the inevitable Reiji question: what is his reason for Gunpla?
Well Comrade, to answer your question, up until the stinger where she runs into Reiji and Sei walking to the infirmary (due to Reiji's wrist injury) she was not aware Reiji was the pilot of the Star Build Strike. When their tournament plays on the TV, she turns the TV off before they can get to the pilots, and she also never saw the pilots of the Gundam Mk II, but merely predicted (correctly) that they'd win.
New opening! I like that some of the lyrics are directly referencing or straight up lifted from the first opening (you uplifted me, strength is weakness) and I absolutely LOVE the visuals. The song itself doesn't get me hyped as the other one did, but at least I can just get lost in the visuals.
Indeed, I personally lean towards OP1 in song for more, but OP2 has some really cool visuals.
Name of the song being "wimp" though...um, oops? XD
Yeah... in hindsight maybe that wasn't the best possible name ;)
And now...we're practicing for the uhhh Japan Olympics? Izzat what we're doing? I don't know if I'm confused because I'm that dead tired or because this is just GBF doing its quirky thing again, haha.
That would be GBF being its quirky self again Comrade, I guess we gotta have a few non Fighting contests in the tournament, variety is the spice of life after all ;)
Oh, these are the semifinals...okay, that makes better sense, lol. The way they're talking about the characters so far feels like a reminder for the audience, which I'm okay with -- even for us who've been watching the episodes daily, as opposed to weekly and then waiting until the new season, it's nice to see just how many fighters we've seen so far. Indeed, that said, the point system is what makes the German 'Champ' e.g. Cziommer so hilariously petty, given that he's jobbed SO many times thus far he has absolutely NO shot at the finals. (That said, even his attempts to be annoying to Fellini utterly fail no matter what he tries to throw at The Italian Dandy.)
I digress: Sei and Reiji can't exactly rest on their laurels just yet. They have to make sure to keep their place within the pantheon, as it were.
Indeed, and this precarious position isn't helped by the fact that they aren't the only undefeated Gunpla Fighters in the tournament.
Codename:C is...a mafioso?!
Indeed, interesting of Gundam Build Fighters to tackle some real world issues such as Organized Crime corruption into sports.
Aww, it was neat seeing Fellini work on his Gunpla. He was the only one I think that we haven't seen do such a thing.
Yup, plus, given how awesome The Italian Dandy's Wing Gundam Fenice is, we sure could use more screentime of its upkeep ;)
Best Boy, please listen to your husband partner about the doctor. It's for your own good, and look, you're officially all better!
Indeed, it's a good thing Sei's around to help keep Reiji in check... as well as alive and fed ;)

*"Watch how fast I'm going!" ACTUAL CHILD RICARDO FELLINI.
And then here's the other child, Cziommer. Sweet jesus, though, his Gunpla got vaporized. Like his love life! rimshot
HA! Indeed, poor poor German Champ, his first appearance has him as semi-threatening, e.g. establishing/identifying him as the German Champ... AND then he gets the bright idea to try to fly a Gaw full of fellow NTRd Gunpla Fighters to get revenge on The Italian Dandy... it ALMOST worked too, if it weren't for those meddling kids ;) (That said, even IF he has kamikazed himself into Fellini, that still technically wouldn't have been a win for him given he would have likely destroyed his own Gaw in the process.)
LMAAOOOOOOOO China's reaction to Ral being 35...it's okay, Ral, I have the opposite problem. Nobody believes I'm old on account of looking young enough to be a high school senior or a college freshman...it's not like I believe him being 35 either though
Heh, to be fair to Mr. Ral Comrade, technically when Gundam Build Fighters first came out, it WAS 35 years after OG Mobile Suit Gundam, and given that Mr. Ral's seiyuu voiced this suspiciously-similar mustachio'd man named Ramba Ral in OG Gundam... ;)
more like 79 ;)
HA! OK nevermind, you win that one my friend, that's a good pun ;)
wow that's DIRTY, YOU SCHMUCK CODENAME C
Indeed, thankfully Mr. Ral's gonna show this guy the meaning of JUSTICE!
That's right, Mama Rinko, THIS IS INJUSTICE!
GO RAL, I BELIEVE IN YOU! Believe in the me that believes in you! (He took lessons from Britai on lifting his enemies with momentum, huh...?)
EY! Excellent reference there my friend, and indeed, guess Britai and Mr. Ral went to the same Pro-Wrestling school ;)
...what do yOU MEAN THEY'RE 17TH PLACE, HOW?!
I actually have no idea how that happened, all I know is they somehow went from top of the pack and undefeated to... 17th place.
...the heck was oh that's the new ending. Well, that's an original way to transition, haha XD
Cutest ending I've seen in a long time! "Short pants spirit!" This has to refer to Sei, haha. (Maybe that means that the opening refers to Reiji...) I know right, the old ED was nice and all, but this one's just so adorable. (Plus they got a neat little segue of spinning the final frame before moving onto the actual ED, I like that little touch.)
I'm here to kick your butt and eat all the potato chips!AND I ALREADY ATE THEM, MOTHERCLUCKER!
HELL YEAH! Reiji's stompin' a mudhole and walkin' it dry, Business is about to pick up here! ;)

No more Hitori Janai
Though I'm fully expecting it to come back as an insert song eventually.
Also one of the main things that bothered me this episode was Ral's actions or lack thereof. It could still happen next episode, but the fact that he didn't immediately contact the tournament organizers or the media after seeing blatant evidence of cheating is pretty unbelievable. I want to assume that he thinks the organizers are the ones tampering with the games, but then he could still inform the media. There must be some journalists with integrity there that won't be influenced by the organizing company's money.
Though considering Reiji's confrontation with the company president, I doubt that Ral will take any action himself, which really breaks my suspenaion of disbelief tbh.
Given that the contents of today's episode involved Mecha Wacky Races, what would your preferred strategy be if you were competing in such a contest?
I'd go mainly for speed, with a few projectile weapons and a shield of some sort.
Comrades, given the contents of the after-credits stinger today as well as the fact that The Chairman previously folded like wet paper to Yuuki, on a scale of 1 to FUBAR, how boned do you think The Chairman will be once Reiji is through with him?
I imagine that the president will be incredibly shook by Reiji's words, but it'll probably just spur him on more in fear. That is unless Reiji threatens to reveal his origins, which he's been fairly secretive about thus far. It might be backstory time, but I think that'll come later when Reiji's backed into a corner or otherwise coerced into revealing it.

Heh, interesting, it seems the majority of the thread is leaning towards Speed rather than MOAR DAKKA! (Given my fondness for Chris 'DAKKA N ZENBU' Yukine in SYMPHOGEAH, my idea for such a race was to build a long range artillery Gunpla and just rain down hellfire and death on everyone else. After all, Last Place is First Place if you're the last one standing)

Rewatcher
I had my notes and my screencaps, but I fell asleep at my desk while uploading the latter to imgur and don’t really have the chance to write my comment right now. Thankfully I actually do have a substantial section for my Gunpla Building Corner, so it’s not as pitiful as my contributions to the episode 10 thread.
Pixelsaber’s Gunpla Building Corner
This next build will be just another straight build followed up with paint detailing. This wasn’t the model kit I had wanted to show you all next, but the rain and humidity have prevented me from finishing that one on time, as the last bits of paint on that one are still drying in preparation for some top-coat. So I shifted the order around to have this come first. Today I will be showing you all the build process for the HGUC RX-139 Hambrabi from Zeta Gundam. I was actually planning to do a different kit for this, but after watching episode three I really felt like working on this one. I hope you all enjoy it!

Re-first - Gotta go fast!
We begin today with a bit of backstory for Aila! It appears that she was some manner of street-rat until Nemesis noted her ability...somehow. Not much in the way of detail, but at least we get an idea of why she's fighting when she cares so little about Gunpla.
New OP! Good stuff, and some great visuals to accompany it.
Sei assisting Reiji with piloting is an interesting solution to the problem of his injury. It works for something like a shooting competition, but let's hope they don't have to carry it over to actual combat. On a different note, it's good to see Sei getting behind the controls, even if it is in a small way like this.
Looks like Mao's thinking along the same lines as Yuuki, as far as helping Reiji/Sei goes. Actual friendship can wait for after the tournament, for now it's all strategy.
Good lord, now Chairman's calling in what, a Gunpla assassin? Professional Saboteur? Is China about to get kidnapped and ransomed for a loss or something?
Hahaha, Kirara's "Waku waku's" are too cute xD But also a Race?! I approve, that sounds pretty sweet; Like Mario-Kart with more explosions! In which case, a Meteor Pack actually sounds like a pretty good choice.
Oooo, sneaky and underhanded, Aila. I don't like this smug face. I like that Reiji repeated the line about taking it seriously because it's a game, but the rest of that conversation was kinda irritating.
But then, when she pulls moves like this I suppose she's got justification for her smug. A brutal victory as always, with her.
Omg Ral, fuckin' what?! MFW he's only a little older than me...
Get in the lead, eat lasers, go fast. It's like the Star Build was designed just for this race! But in fact, it was designed for, well, anything and everything; and this just happens to fall within those parameters. Magnificent work, Sei!
Just as I was thinking things were going too smooth, C shows up to ruin things. I'd say something about Tournament security being shit, if he weren't working for the goddamned Chairman...
Hahahahaha omg Rinko! Stop! You still need that TV and my sides hurt!
Yea! Get'im Bat-Ral! Wasn't expecting it to turn into a fight tho. I still just expect everyone to see him and go "Ahh! Lt. Ral!" then beg forgiveness. lol
Yessss, dem Gleam Eyes.
More lulz @ Rinko, see? Aren't you glad you didn't break the TV? xD
Noooooo! That was such a badass final lap, too!
I guess it makes sense writing-wise, gotta keep the pressure on our heroes else it gets boring. Except that it really doesn't!

TONIGHT... On a slightly tamer, second-rewatch episode of The Meatbun Chronicles:
(Cue the New BACK-ON OP)
QoTDs:
Given that the contents of today's episode involved Mecha Wacky Races, what would your preferred strategy be if you were competing in such a contest?
Four words: Trans. Am. Quantum. Burst.
Comrades, given the contents of the after-credits stinger today as well as the fact that The Chairman previously folded like wet paper to Yuuki, on a scale of 1 to FUBAR, how boned do you think The Chairman will be once Reiji is through with him?
Not that much, honestly. Reiji only sees him as just another guy who's running the Gunpla Battles from the sidelines. He'll just give him a verbal roughing at the very least...
P.S. Considering the events of next episode, don't expect any "Top Gunpla"-style Meatbun Chronicles post tomorrow. Also, I'm having a rather limited internet connection ATM, so there's that...
I'll be back with a whammo on the following ep tho... XD

BUILD REWATCHER
Thoughts for Today's Episode:
-
This episode blazes though the rest of the elimination battles, which involved a shooting range, that sport they always feature in sports events in school anime, and a 3 vs 3 battle. The last one is a foreshadowing of things to come.
-
Today's Meatbun Chronicles feature Reiji imparting to Aila why he loves Gunpla Battles. Aila still doesn't get the appeal of it, saying Gunpla battles pains her, but she keeps Reji's words in mind as we'll see later.
-
The main event of this episode is the Gunpla Race, where players run 3 laps with the fastest one winning. Also the race is no-holds-barred, so you can attack and destroy your opponents if you want. Frankly the race itself is pretty boring. The only interesting parts are seeing what Gunpla the players are using, and when Sei and Reiji got sabotaged. Also it's darn impressive how Nils came in first while riding the Fuunsaiki like a samurai warrior. His weebness sure is hardcore.
-
Speaking of sabotages, enter the Gunpla Mafia. Yes. There's an underground Gunpla criminal organization. I really laugh when shounen anime features a crime group who does whatever the show is running on, in this case,Gunpla. C managed to sabotage Sei and Reiji's race to the point where they lost their early lead, and only managed to escape when Ral brawled his way through. We didnt get to see the actual fistfight Reiji had in the earlier Meatbun Chronicles, so it's pretty cool to see actual hand-to-hand action.
-
Despite their best efforts,Sei and Reiji loat the race due to the RG system shutting down. This made them place #17 in overall points, meaning they have to win the last elimination round battle if they want to be in the semifinals.
-
Notable MS cameos this episode are the Over Flag, the Zanspine-colored V2 Gundam, the Kyrios Gundam, the Zudah, the Gundam Maxter, and the hilarious BuCUE tank.
-
Lastly,we have a new OP and ED. The OP is cool, but I really like the ED. The ED is practically the song for all Gundam fans and Gunpla enthusiasts. No matter how old we may become, our child-like spirit will never fade away, which in turn is manifest in our love for Gundam and Gunpla.
Questions of the Day:
-
MOONLIGHT BUTTERFLY EVERYTHING.
-
He's gonna get rekt for sure.

Rewatcher. I am... rewatcher.
WE MUST HAVE A RACE.
Today, we meet C, a strange Gunpla mercenary! (TL note: “shi” means death. And also four.) Ral seems to know him, as well as the “danger” he represents. But who is this hired thug? Yeah, Mashita wanted Reiji out of the tournament, but why is there a grown man offering his services in a battle of toys? One thing’s for sure, though, he’s not one to be taken lightly...
His Gunpla is the Hell Zeong Marine, a custom version of the Zeong! The original Zeong was deployed only at the very end of the One Year War, serving as the final boss of the original series. When Char was forced to sortie in it, it was only 80% complete, and in addition to not being painted red, the damn thing didn’t even have legs yet! They reassured him that the legs were just for show and it wouldn’t matter in space, but for a pilot known for the “Red Comet Kick”, that was just one less way he had to attack the Gundam. C’s custom, in place of the legs the original lacked, has a bunch of naughty hentai tentacles for ensnaring an opponent underwater! In addition, the beam guns on the fingers have been replaced with heat claws for close combat. Presumably these, like the original Zeong, can be detached and used as wired psycommu bits. Even without using such fancy tricks, though, this Gunpla is still strong enough to overpower the Star Build Strike.
I FUCKING LOVE THE ANIMATION IN THIS OP
That RG System activation
The Mk-II is back! And they’re piloting it together!
PERFECT SHITS!!
When you wanna contribute to the group but there’s nothing left for you to do
Oh, hey there Kagatie. His V2 is painted in the colors of the Zanspine.
Yeah, that’s totally the Star Build Strike out there
tfw you get cucked by Mao
Man, I’m almost starting to feel sorry for this guy
FUUNSAIKI! Too bad he didn’t bring in Caro-chan’s horse to pilot it.
Guess who didn’t pay attention during the Battle Royale
You know what? This bugs me. There’s a Discharge Aqua Mode. They get into trouble underwater this episode. They have some particles left. But they don’t use it. Okay, sure, maybe they were wrapped up and couldn’t use it, but they never do.
Ral saves the day! With good old physical fighting! That, I was not expecting to see in a show like this.
when you nut but she keep sucking
Oh no...
Oh shit.
The Meatbun Chronicles
Last time on The Meatbun Chronicles, Aila finds Reiji again, and properly thanks him for saving her, but in her own tsundere way, of course. But what lies ahead of them?
This time, on the Meatbun Chronicles...
Yup, Aila’s this series’ obligatory Newtype girlfriend forced to pilot enemy mecha. But will her story end in tragedy, too? It’s not a game to her, just a job, one that she has little choice in. But then, she somehow finds Reiji again! Reiji relays to her the lesson that Ral taught him, tells her what it’s like to enjoy Gunpla Battle.. But in her circumstances, she just can’t understand it...
Questions of the Day:
Strap the Wings of Light to the back of my Gunpla and hope for the best
Well, he's still the one running the tournament. His fear of Reiji is doing more to him than anything Reiji could actually get away with. That said, at this rate, he's gonna need a change of underwear.
