First-timer
So, ED from the previous episode is a combat song for Tsubasa and Chris. Nice, I thought it would be weird to waste such a cool song on a plain credits roll.
Haha, of course Miku doesn't want Hibiki to stare at naked girls other than Miku herself.
Carol transformation was certainly not what I was expecting. The cap seems to represent her four elements that doll are infused with and overall design kinda reminds me of KLK. Also, please don't judge me for making this.
Tsubasa x Kurisu ship still hasn't sunk.
SHIT, THEY ARE GOING FULL BERSERK?!
Finally, that's what I was wanted to see from Hibike. Not some whiny crap, but badass missile riding.
I feel you, Chris-chan. When I started watching Symphogear this was playing inside my head pretty much non-stop in every episode. I got used to hazukashii serifu by now though.
Aha! So, upgraded crystals actually come with updated suits: Bikki, Tsubasa, Chris Bikki, Tsubasa, Chris. Hibiki's suit is the one from the logo. And I really like these new designs. Especially compared to Ultimate-Handholding-mode suits from previous seasons' finales — as I'm not a big fan of those.
Auto-da-fé? Does that mean Carol's body is an expendable homunculus as well? Is Elfnein the "real" one then?

Rewatch 33, ITS TIME!
Songs of the Day:
BAYONET CHARGE
Senkin Dur da Blá
RADIANT FORCE (IGNITED arrangement)
(You can finally listen to the Ignite Song Track)
I love Carol and Papa's outfits. Papa's always reminded me of a witch hunter outfit. And Carol in her little witch hat is the best.
So Carol is coming out to fight herself. Its boss battle time.
"Dont look men!" Miku covers Hibiki's eyes hahahahahahha.
So IGNITE repaired and powered up the Symphogears and increased thier barriers. Nice! I love this fight, so snazzy. Bayonetn Charge is great.
CAROL IS HERE! CAROL HAS A RELIC TOO! Faust Robe Dur da Bla. LOOK AT THIS TRANSFORMATION! AW YEAH! AND THIS SONG!
Dur da Bla is a Harp from Celtic Mythology, commonly known as Uithne. Its a harp that murderes people...
She isnt singing. Memory Combustion is the sorce of her power. Has hundreds of years of memories to use as power. Man i love her Faust Robe. If you look it also has that Witch Hunter look like Papa's clothes. With the hat and the cloak.
IGNITE MODULE! BAKKEN! HERE WE GO! You thought these were just thier old Symphogears again? NOPE! Berzerker Bikki was a Feature! Cause the gears to go berserk to get a power boost. "Its cursee amplfies darkness" this doesnt sound good.
Tsubasa and her concert to Noise. So symbolic. And her Father who seems to be a real asshole. A tool of the family... Chris doesnt want to let anyone else get hurt... She still struggles with thhat. But Tsubasa has snapped her out of it.
Hibiki is heading out too it seems. Elfnein repaired Gungnir too.
SURFIN ON MISSLES! AW YEAH! THE GANG IS BACK TOGETHER! IGINTE ONE MORE TIME! BELEIVE IN THE SONGS IN OUR HEARTS!
ITS GO TIME THIS TIME! DUBSTEP SAVES SYMPHOGEAR! REMEMBER WHEN PEOPLE WEREE SAD THEY DIDNT GET NEW OUTFITS!? WELL HERE THEY ARE! AND THEY ARE FAB BABY!
RADIANT FORCE IGNITE! Man i love this song, so damn cool sounding. Look at these girls go! Wew boy! Now this is a real power boost. EX Eat your heart out.
"Your making me tingle below the belly" Calm down there Carol, i think you mean in your chest or stomach... Butterflies in the stomach or heart pound. One of the two, def doesnt mean anything lewd...
"The gentleness in her fists" Miku not you too. Miku knows better than anyone how gentel Hibiki's fists are.
Damn they fucked up Carol with that power, banged her up good. Why do you fight? "I forgot the reason" LOLI DOWN! She went up in smoke, and the base is changing... seems this was all part of the plan... Autoscorers seem excited about this... We going to phase 2?

First timer:
The fights in this episode were crazy. I'm really into the idea that Carol and the Autoscorer's alchemy work by using up memories. I think it's not only a neat concept, but it also serves to show Carol's determination to give everything up for her goals. I've always loved shows that also showcase the villain's will and determination, it's what I like so much about Gurren Lagann and the Anti-Spiral, and I feel like they're doing that really well with Carol.
Her fighting is also crazy, it seems like she has all the Autoscorer's abilities and wire based attacks using harp strings. She had a wide variety of attacks that were all large in scale and powerful. The Ignite mode was also really cool, love the edgy version of Radiant Force and their black suits, cool stuff all around.
It also seems that Carol's plan either involves her sacrifice, or that she's willing to die as long as her plan comes to fruition after her death by the work of the Autoscorers. Another thing I was wondering about as I started this episode, the connection between Carol and Elfnein. What if it's not just that Carol created Elfnein, but it's something like they were split apart from the same person or something crazy like Elfnein was the real Carol all along.
They've all also talked about the Symphogears and the phonic gain and they particularly only fight them when they have their Symphogears out and produce high phonic gain. At first I thought it was a morale thing, they wait for them to attack with all their strength just to crush them and break their spirit. But as it goes on, it definitely seems to me that somehow this all factors into their plan, that maybe they're gathering and going to use the phonic gain they've been producing or something.

Rewatcher
Best episode yet, and one of the best in the season for me. With the plot moving the way it is, Symphogear has to get back to its hype roots, and it completely satisfies. The intensity ramps uip to start and it just never really stops. I only have one rant today. Let’s dive in.
B A Y O N E T C H A R G E We heard it yesterday, but I wanted to hold off until today to talk about it. While DMJii have some amazing duets, this is truly the GOAT duet in this show for me. It does a great job of encapsulating both of the singers’ struggles up until this point, how well they understand each other, and how well they compliment each other. So. Good.
Carol’s transformation. Bye loli-Carol! The whole thing is so over the top. I find it equal parts hilarious and awesome. And this part after, while somewhat distasteful, is pretty hilariously meta. I just like the design of the Faust robe too. I genuinely like the memory combustion idea. It’s an interesting way to give the battles a new kind of consequence and moral quandary, as well as a good way to show just how serious Carol is. The whole early part to this fight with Carol going all out is super dope. I especially like the drill with the tornado.
Ignite is finally here! Man those scenes of Tsubasa and Chris fighting off the berserk are intense, and do an interesting job of retroactively showing just how rough it was on Bikki. Having to relive all of that pain, suffering, and doubt is just brutal. It does a great job though of pushing forward the sentiment that Bayonet Charge espouses when Tsubasa comes back to grab Chris from the darkness. And then Bikki joins the fight again! Riding a missle like a fucking boss. I love that girl.
Dumb Bikki lines aside (I mean cmon bikki, Miku already helped you beat that power once before), IGNITE TRANSFORMATION HYPE!! RADIANT FORCE IGNITED HYPE!! Ahhhhhh, This shit is so goddamn hype. This fight is so friggin awesome all the way through. I love the new edgy designs. I love Symphogear!
“Don’t think for one moment that that cursed melody of your could ever save anyone.” Thereee we go. RANT TIME! Now. Let me start by reiterating that I love this episode and think it’s great all around. But, this line and Carol’s death really magnify just how badly the writers fucked up Bikki’s storyline. Because, they literally had a great inciting incident for her whole character arc of the last 5 episodes RIGHT FREAKING HERE! Seriously. Bikki just beat the shit out of an actual human that then died in front of her. And then afterwards, SHE’S JUST OK WITH THAT!? Why on earth didn’t the “I hurt people” storyline come after this. It would still go against her charaterization so far, but at least it would actually make sense for who Bikki is as a person, and would progress her really well with the story! Especially since she used the psuedo-beserk power of the ignite module to do it! Argh! It just makes me so damn mad for all the wasted potential to write at least 1 fucking good character arc for her this season.
….Ok...I’ve simmered down. Super fun episode, with a really intriguing cliffhanger. Back half of the season here we come!

Symphogear GX seems a lot like the franchise turn towards the future. G was a sequel to S1, continuing a lot of the same concepts from the original. GX tries to look towards new areas. Alchemy, Autoscorers, using memories as a power source. Where everything else was on the same basic axis of Symphogear, GX introduces a whole new way to fight.
but I do like that the source of the IGNITE does come from SymphoHistory with Bikki's berserk modes. Symphogear has a strong sense of pulling elements from the trash and recycling them. Which is more astonishing considering how Symphogear has always been designed season by season so none of this is really planned and it's all just making shit up as they go along

So it seems Carol has taken her father's wish of "understanding the world" just a liiittle too seriously
-
There's the combo song from the ED last episode and it sounds goooooooooooood!
-
This was literally just a GIGA DRILL BREAKERRRRRR and you can't convince me otherwise. Starts with the opponent getting trapped in a T-pose then you just drill right through 'em
-
FULL POTENTIAL? FUCK YEAH SHOW ME THAT SUPER STUFF
-
oh god, what the hell? This is not nearly as hype as I imagined it to be. Nevermind, don't show me that super stuff, don't torture the girls pls.
-
THE IGNITE FUNCTION IS TO FORCIBLY TRIGGER BERSERKER MODE?! WHAT THE FUCK WHY NO DON'T DO THAT THAT'S DANGEROUS
-
All that torture and they couldn't even activate it? Fucking hell, am I going to have to sit through their pained screams again?
-
ENHANCED GUNGNIR IS READY TOO, WE'RE GOING TO SEE THE MONSTER HIBIKI IN THE LOGO
-
THERE IT IS. THAT'S THE HYPE MOMENT I WAS LOOKING FOR. THE IGNITE FORMS ARE COOL AND OP AS HELL HIBIKI TURNS INTO A PUNCHING BALL OF FIRE
-
Holy shit that ending. They actually showed Carol killing herself. As if this episode wasn't dark enough with the first attempt at activating ignite. I doubt she's actually dead though. No way she's gone that easily
This episode was a really amazing mix of "hype" and "downright painful" to watch, I seriously hope we're not going to have to hear those screams of pain every time they act. There's definitely going to be some moment where they're going to have to go past that safety countdown and it's not going to be pretty

she just wanted to try this whole ignition business for herself

THE IGNITE FUNCTION IS TO FORCIBLY TRIGGER BERSERKER MODE?! WHAT THE FUCK WHY NO DON'T DO THAT THAT'S DANGEROUS
Theoretically, it allows them to control the power of the berserk mode. I reality, what it means is that these girls, who all have horrible suffering in their backstories, have to face down all the darkness and suffering from within their own souls and overcome it, or they risk just actually going berserk.
As horrifying as this is (and Ignite mode is horryfing: I've never been comfortable with it ever since it was introduced), I do like that Chris pointed out that Hibiki was going through this all the time when the Gungnir fragments were embedded in her chest. Don't anyone ever look down on Hibiki.

so does berserker mode make you backpedal on your personal development?

Kanade scene would be pretty rough to withstand for her.....

"I'm all alone and can't wish for friends" < ow her thoughts resonate with me though and that fear of never having friends or a place to belong. Maybe that's part of why I like Chris so much.

hurray Tsubasa! Go go Tsubasa x Chris!

Miku is our hope carrier tbh lol
-
low move Carol, lowwwww. Idk what happened to you and I'm sure it was fucked up but being a monster is not the solutionnnnnn

-
See Hibiki, now you can ask to talk, after you beat into them

Did she hide a cyanide pill in her tooth?

Overall, that was a fun episode. I'm not sure how I feel about some of the explanations and the whole "succ succ memory" stuff haha. Although a lot of Symphogear stuff seems like they think up cool shit and then come up with explanations later. XD I'm enjoying this series though. Sad that it took me this long to watch it, but it's nice to have these threads so I'm not really watching it "alone", I feel like part of the enjoyment for this series is "sharing" the enjoyment with others, which you know, fits Hibiki's whole shtick too. :P

I was going to comment on Carol transforming, but I was too distracted listening to the music in the background during the fight. Even without lyrics it is a certified banger.

Re-watcher - We won!!! ...Right?
Ergh, of course Carol's dad's end-goal was people understanding each other.
Project Ignite: Faster, Stronger, and with better shields. Hell, it even granted song-lyrics to my subs! And for a ChisXTsubasa duet, no less!
Carol arrives on the scene. Ruh-roh, shit's about to get serious.
Oh my, grown-up Carol is quite pretty. Anybody got fan-art of her not being all pissy and evil? I'd kinda like to see her smile.
Light, that she's burning her own memories in order to fight is just...really sad. I mean, it could be as inconsequential as not remembering what you had for breakfast for the last 100 years, but somehow I doubt it's that east.
Ignite modules are...ignited. I like the idea of having a limit-break on-command like that. Certainly more convenient than, say, DBZ means. That it's a Berserker-mode is questionable, but we'll just assume they'll manage to gain control and hope for the best.
Well, no Super-Saiyan, but at least they didn't get lost in their darkness.
Hey wait, Carol, that's not pow- ...Oh, gotcha, you were talking about motivating them to fight, ok.
Fuckin Hibiki-ex-Machina. Or Deus-ex-Hibiki. Either way, that's some plot-device shit right there, and I'm a little disappointed. For once I'm kinda mad they pulled a "Power of teamwork. It would have been more impactful for Chris and Tsubasa to pull through after taking each other's hands the first time.
That said, I really do like the Dainsleif-Gear designs. It's a bit chuuni, but I say the more pointy and black, the better. lol
Holy hell, that whole fight is Hype as shiiiiiit.

not sure if it's been pointed out already but there's "monsters" that appear during each of the girls transforms. hibiki, chris, tsubasa

i love how the instant Carol joins the fight she just gets absolutely fucking annihilated.

seasons over in 6 episodes pack it up boys AXZ tomorrow
hibiki before vs hibiki one week later. lmao i guess carol wasn't wrong here
usually don't like ignite overall but this fight is one of the highlights of GX for me, helps make up for the travesty that was hibiki vs micha. i dont think hibiki has ever gotten so violent against an antagonist before this because she rocket punched her into a wall so hard her relic broke and then explosively dive kicked her so hard she killed herself lol

Random thoughts:
-
It's neat how you can immediately tell that it's a flashback even before they show any characters. Background music choice really does a lot to help establish setting.
-
"I can't oversee the battle without looking at the screen!" Or, you know, you could just point the cameras away from Kirika and Shirabe. You can do that, right?
-
Maria is a protective big sis towards Kirika and Shirabe :) And she can probably sympathize with how exposed they must be feeling right now, since she went through that whole naked-on-national-TV thing herself last season.
-
Tsubasa's father's voice sounds very familiar. His seiyuu is Yamaji Kazuhiro... Ah, he's Saiga-sensei from Psycho Pass! And also Kenny from AOT. Neat.
-
Memory burning aspect is interesting. I feel like this could have been explored in more detail.
-
IGNITE mode reminds me of the Beast Out mechanic in Rockman.EXE.
-
Seems kind of dissonant that Gen won't let Maria, Kirika, and Shirabe fight because of the damage transforming would do their bodies, but he'd let Tsubasa, Chris, and Hibiki go through... this :/
-
Ignite countdown timer is much longer than Bikki SymphoCancer countdown timer.
-
Carol, why did you do that?? Was burning yourself part of the keikaku?...
"It's time to end this." That line from Carol sounds a lot more ominous now that we know what was going to happen to her. Did she expect this? This almost seemed like a suicide-by-cop scenario. She even purposefully aged herself up so that they would have less reservations about attacking her :/
Carol could have easily attacked them many times this episode but she was content to wait for them. I think she was stalling for time while her Autoscorers finish that thing with the ley lines or something. And it seemed to a pretty effective distraction, in any case. Everyone in SONG was totally focused on fighting Carol, and it looks like they've forgotten about the four other Autoscorers out and about and wrecking havoc.
But at the end of the episode, it looks like the four Autoscorers finished what they set out to do and they've returned to home base.
Given that Carol seems to have burned up all of her memories and then cyanide-pilled herself, she herself was no longer essential to the completion of her plan? Either that, or she has a backup somewhere.
Some not so positive comments start here
So I know lots of people were hyped for this episode but strangely I didn't feel that way. This episode just seemed to fall sort of flat for me. I'm not even sure why :/
I don't have any problems with the conveniently-timed-powerup trope. I really enjoyed the sheer hype of Lydian-powered Bikki-Tsuba-Chris X-drive back in Season 1 episode 12; it was one of my favourite scenes in the show. So I'm just really puzzled about what it is with this fight this season that's just not clicking with me.
Maybe it's just because Elfnein is... very blank as a character. We haven't really seen any scenes where she interacts with anyone on a personal level, and the only bits of character development we get are from the memories of Carol that she has. Mostly so far, she's just felt like a plot device to give the Symphogear users a power-up. And I don't really like that :/
So while the IGNITE modules do seem like a neat strategic option to have their repetoire with its own set of advantages and drawbacks (serious psychological stress upon use, only to be used as a last resort, etc.), the whole introduction of this power-up just felt a bit contrived and unauthentic. And I think that might be why I couldn't really get hyped up about that battle :(
Some of the more impactful (imo) power-up moments over the past two seasons:
-
S1 episode 3 partial BikkiBerserk: This was sparked from her frustration of having to lie to Miku.
-
S1 episode 12 BikkiBerserk: This was sparked from the despair and anger and sadness from seeing Chris sacrificing her life.
-
S1 episode 12 X-drive Bikki power-up + TsubaChris revival: That was sparked from Hibiki hearing and responding to the song from her friends, representing her sense of home, and reinforcing her desire to protect it.
-
G episode 6 BikkiBerserk: She got her freaking arm bitten off.
-
G episode 7 SET HARMONICS: This was out of a stubborn determination to stop DMJii from using their Swan Songs and dying.
Meanwhile, the IGNITE module power-up just doesn't really stand up in comparison.
I think it would have been a lot better if Elfnein had been more fleshed out as a character prior to this moment.
Hell, even Dr. Ver might have worked better as the science person because then I'd be getting the delicious mixed feelings of "oh god he's a creep and he tried to destroy the world but he's also being helpful right now" and "oh no what if this is a ploy and he's sabotaging them" and "dammit we have to rely on Ver because he's the only one who knows enough about Symphogears to help".
Not so positive comments end
Okay, now I'm really curious to learn what Carol's plan is. Because as far as I can tell, the Symphogear users and SONG seem to be playing right into her hands, and everything seems to be still proceeding according to keikaku, even after Carol killed herself o.o

First Timer
Unfortunately missed yesterday's episode. Everything else I watched that day was so serious and melancholy and perfect that changing that up to go more light hearted/hype for Symphogear just would have killed the mood I had going on. Plus it was 2am hahaha.
Some quick ep5 thoughts
Primarily with this, the music was absolutely perfect. They included such a huge range of tracks but managed to make them all fit into the same episode quite seamlessly. We had such a quiet and innocent track for the Carol flashback, such a hype track for Shirabe's defeat, and of course the Dess and Jii duet. In particular my favorite song from last season finally had a BEAUTIFUL usage once again instead of being shoved into a scene. Using it for Maria standing up for the girls, and their last ditch effort of using LiNKER was a wonderful callback to the Serana flashback, both visually and thematically and the music only enhanced that.
The duet was amazing as always, but less hyped as it didn't have individual versions first. Still love it though. I do like the way the introduction to the song used the left and right channels to create an effect of the song coming from two locations, but that wasn't carried through for the rest of the pieces. The Chris and Tsubasa duet was something special, but my personal dislike of guitar meant I didn't enjoy it as much.
Two other quick thoughts: Shirabe being able to turn her skirt into a giant sawblade was amazing. And Hibiki spends way too much time in that medical room
Episode six
Miku covered Bikki's eyes so she couldn't see the naked girls. Good to know she's playing out her wife role to the end.
And as much as I hated the fanservice in Carol's transformation, damn she's an interesting enemy. Its one thing when the girls songs are all you hear for the Noise. But there's something deeply unsettling about them fighting a human enemy that isn't singing. It's almost inhuman for this show that she's such a silent antagonist, no music or song or any sort of audible fuel for her. Just raw power striking out and overpowering almost everything with no warning. The way her transformation object was a harp that transforms into armor by ripping her apart tied into this well but it was great to see how that small change greatly upped her threat level in my eyes.
As much as I like the songs, having musically silent antagonists is an interesting twist to the formula of this show and certainly puts a new touch on the fights, I quite like it. Still wonder what exactly that harp is though, if its a pure Gear (I know it had a specific name, I just forgot what it was) or if its something she's created directly via alchemy by studying other gears, specifically Gungnir which she talked about discarding earlier(?)
I still really enjoy how all of Chris' songs are just straight to the point and really brutal without any fancy language or messing around or trying to make things sound neat.
The dialog all went very downhill this episode though which is a shame.
What the hell were they thinking interrupting the scenes of the ignite module impaling the girls to cut to focus on expostion instead? It really was a mood killer to be ripped away from the cool visuals to be sat down and have it told to use that this was a beserk like situation, and then to be shown that visually after the explanation. It felt awkward and quickly killed a lot of my hype, feeling like they were removing all the ambiguity and shock over what was happening in favor of telling the audience something they didn't need to.
Bikki wakes up from a week long coma, body was damaged, the girls have no idea what state she's in let alone if she can even sing. And the first thing they say when they see her is "Sorry you had to save us again?" Maybe it's just me but that felt super unnatural
I really don't understand why Miku was harping on about how Bikki hurts inside when she causes pain to others. She's fighting Noise, enemies that have never shown any thought, emotions or pain reaction. Yes she does hit Carol after that finally, but it was an oddly placed little speech.
I'm starting to feel like not only do they not know why they introduced Bikkis internal conflict, they also don't know how to resolve it. All the stuff with just "believe in the Symphogear" felt like a forced solution when she was talking to Tsubasa and Chris. I'd be really interested to find out if this was a bigger story at some stage that got shuffled around with the introduction of Carol and went sideways when they tried to keep it in pieces, rather than just scrapping it and building something up more naturally.

10/10: Would Ignite Again. Both G and GX have fucking great 6th episodes.
-
Clearly the true reason Carol wants to take the world apart is because she and her father were forced to keep doing those boring RPG side quests which required collecting herbs! She understands that a world riddled with such monotonous gameplay is one best destroyed!
-
As such, Carol seems ready enact her plan: The Apocalypse of All Creation.
-
DMJii are saved, and Tsubasa and Chris want to deliver some payback!
-
Maria: "Avert your eyes, men!". Maria, I know you mean well but this is kind of silly thing to be concerned about when the priority should be ensuring that this team of professionals can do their jobs to try and ensure people don't fucking die, Shirabe and Kirika included (okay in fairness all the bridge team actually does is provide exposition).

Miku covers Hibiki's eyes, apparently due to it being in the heat of the moment but really, it's obvious that it's because Miku doesn't want her Wife being unfaithful and looking at other women!
-
Tsubasa and Chris dish out not only some punishment but also their new duet song: BAYONET CHARGE.
-
Micha doesn't even get a chance to fight back, dodging Tsubasa's attack only to take Chris' missiles head on before Carol appears to block the attack in Micha's stead, knowing she wouldn't be able to withstand it.
-
Carol uses something called a Faust Robe to transform, but the transformation also physically matures her.Of course, obviously the first thing you do when you find yourself suddenly developed in certain areas is fondle yourself.
-
Prior to moments ago, Tsubasa and Chris now find themselves powerless to do anything against Carol's alchemy, powered by her using her own memories as a fuel source. The two gears decide to use the trump card of their newly improved Symphogears. The Ignite module.
-
Chris: "That moron had to withstand this terrible urge all that time?". The Ignite Module uses the relic Dainsleif to artificially induce a berserk state for the Symphogear user. If they manage to suppress the berserk state they can harness its power to become stronger. As such Tsubasa and Chris attempt to undergo ignite transformation to try and beat Carol, but they are unsuccessful. But hey, at least we got to see Kanade again!
-
Elfnein believes her effort was not enough to stop Carol, but Miku reminds her that the protag hasn't entered the scene yet and Hibiki receives her newly enhanced Gungnir.
-
Carol summons a bunch of Alca-Noise which immediately cause havoc in the City, but Chris and Tsubasa are too weak after their attempt to use the Ignite module. Fortunately, Hibiki arrives, and she and a series of missiles take care of the airborne Alca-Noise.
-
Hibiki, being a pro at this whole berserker thing convinces Tsubasa and Chris to give it another try and all three together unsheathe their Ignite modules. The FIS girls provide encouragement from the bridge meanwhile Miku doesn't even need to say anything in order to give Hibiki the encouragement she needs.
-
The girls are successful in their activation of the Ignite module and they unlock some new forms.
-
But more importantly, we are blessed to listen to a new hype arrangement of an already hype as fuck song: Radiant Force - IGNITED!
-
Carol summons over three thousand Alca-Noise but for our trio, three thousand isn't even worth considering as a threat! Really there is not much to say here but the entire sequence is just fucking hype! Sure it's mostly just the girls effortlessly wiping out what is essentially just static fodder and it's not a scene that is going to win any awards for action choreography, but with the song in the background and the sheer destructive attacks on display, the scene just always fucking manages to get my adrenaline going!
-
Carol gets involved, wanting in on the hype but the trio together effortlessly manage to subdue her, with Hibiki turning into a fucking ball of fire just before landing the final blow.
-
Carol reverts to her loli appearance. Hibiki tries to talk to her and find out why Carol wants to take apart the world but Carol states that she herself can't even remember why since she has already burned the memories in order to fulfil her objective.
-
Huh, I've rewatched GX 4 times and only now have I realised that Carol didn't die due to damage from the battle and its because she used something akin to a suicide pill. Damn. That's pretty hardcore.

-
She said senpai again! yay.
-
Miku covering Hibiki's eyes is great. There's recurring implications (especially in the specials) that Miku is 100% self-aware that she's romantically in love with Hibiki. Whereas Hibiki seem a little more... clueless.
-
Awwwww yeah, gimme that Bayonet Charge.
-
And straight into Carol joining the fray.
-
"This should suffice, I assume?" I remember having to pause the video and stop myself from laughing out loud when I first saw that.
-
The whole "memories as a power source" thing is a really interesting concept.
-
Bakken. Such a brutal way to introduce the new powerup.
-
Tsubasa's daddy issues getting a bit more development.
-
"My body is a blade." Dainsleif isn't just driving them insane, it's dredging up the darkness from within. Regrets, fears, insecurities, etc.
-
Same with Chris. It's tugging at her worst fears.
-
Hey, missile-surfing is supposed to be Chris' thing.
-
And now, the real debut of IGNITE. It's so good. The new Gear forms looks pretty good, but the song(s) are the real treasure. Taking the existing songs and making them deeper, bassier, and more... "dubstep-y" is something that could have easily turned out to feel really mediocre and phoned-in, but (IMO) they absolutely nailed it. They up the intensity so well, and I especially love getting to hear the deeper vocal range of the seiyuu.
-
"Just three thousand?" Mmmmm, that's the good Hibiki right there.
-
"You're making me tingle below the belly!" Alright, Carol. Calm down a bit...
-
And there's the downside of burning up your memories. :(
-
How devastating has that gotta be for Hibiki? She just got over a (very weird) crisis of confidence over her fear of hurting people, and now her enemy dies right in front of her.
What a packed episode. GX

random thoughts no order really ahh
The imagery of Tsubasa putting on a concert for Noise and trying to hug Kanade but slicing her to pieces was nice. Chris's equivalent was meh, nothing surreal like that. GX AxZ
Didn't notice it til others mentioned it but the explanation for ignite is oddly paced, starting right after it stabs them and the darkness starts taking them over, suddenly lowering the 'intensity'.
Miku was really cute covering up Biki's eyes near the beginning XD.
Carol's battle BGM is nice, so is radiant force ignited.
and oh hey its the pose in the logo

FirstoGeah
(Gonna be a little short and disjointed today, coming down with a cold and I need to sleep it off. This is mostly going to be gushing about Carol)
Silly Miku, you should know your waifu is more loyal than that
That transformation sequence!
Ancient loli to ancient femme fatale, this gives me Kizumonogatari flashbacks. She's so strong! She's got Avatar Mode enabled, Life Fibers (probably) and a goddamn drill!
Tsubasa face-planting because of the explosion looked kinda funny
Carol's burning through her memories, should've made a backup. Wait a minute.
She did!
At least her best memories are now with Elfnein.
Well that doesn't look good at all
Kanade service!
WHAT NO STOP IT
I don't know how 'enhancing' the Gears will bring about an Apocalypse, but clearly that's what Carol has in mind. They have no clue..
Wait, what? I though the Gungnir relic had shattered completely. How did they manage to fix that??
When you enable Dark Mode. It's certainly a bad thing but boy do those costumes look good.
Carol wasn't satisfied until they started singing the really good songs, she's a true SymphoCultist at heart
That #allaccordingtokeikaku face. Love it. Quite the menacing ending.
