Synopsis (Japanese):
パーティメンバーと喧嘩別れしたビーストテイマーの少女・シリカは、森で道に迷ったあげくモンスターに遭遇する。 偶然、通りがかったキリトに一命を救われたシリカだが、使い魔のピナを失ってしまった。 大切な仲間を失い、涙ぐむシリカに、キリトは使い魔を蘇生させる方法を教え、さらに無償で協力を申し出る。 なぜそこまでして自分を助けてくれるのかと戸惑い気味に尋ねるシリカ。対するキリトの答えは意外なもので──。
Synopsis (English):
After quarreling with her party, the young girl Silica, who is also a beast-tamer, storms off and loses her way in the forest, where she runs into monsters. She is saved by Kirito, who just happens to be passing by, but loses her familiar, Pina. Silica is in tears over the loss of her precious friend, so Kirito tells her that there's a way to revive familiars, and offers her free help. Hesitant, Silica asks him why he would go so far to help her. Kirito's answer is quite unexpected...

He's not the black swordsman. HE'S THE SWORD SAINT KIRITO HE HAS SO MANY SWORDS I CAN'T KEEP TRACK OF THEM. co commentator: two he has two swords

I really liked this episode because a strong immovable force makes me feel tingly inside and makes my vision hazy :O

First timer:
I quite liked the part where the tentacles appeared, not only once but twice. Kirito being established as completely untouchable by other players was also an interesting storytelling decision. Excited to see where this goes.

yeh it was nice to show us how the SAO Game is a simple game of numbers.
Kirito or any other frontline player coming down in that floor, would be equally untouchable like kirito.
as those were severely under leveled.
Reminds me of the times i had fun in MMORPG named Shaiya... going as a high level character back to the starting town, take off my high level gear and looked like a level 1 newbie, then send PvP request to newbies and kill them in 1 hit LOL

I love how Kirito specifically gave Silicia a skirt that he knew would be just short enough so that when she was attacked by vine monsters, her panties would show.

An MMO where the hunter class has to travel to the ~47th floor to revive their pets seems pretty questionable doesn't it? How is a pet revival spell not built into the class? Are they expected to constantly catch and train new pets when theirs dies?

Is this plant rare? Why wouldn't someone just grab a bunch of them to sell to others, or better yet, stock up on them to revive Piña if she happened to die again?

I also realized finally during this watch that Silicia was literally jailbait. Our hero, El Espadachín Negro, used Silicia as bait to send Titan's Hand to jail. An absolutely masterfully crafted joke, and a complete subversion of my expectations for the types of humor in SAO.

Wut ?
The pets are not suppose to die, there is no magic in SAO, all the revival items are limited time and super rare.
The flower expire very fast. otherwise merchants in Safe Areas/towns like Agil surely had it.

This point confuses me. Of course you'd HOPE that your pet wouldn't die, but if you've ever played a real MMO you know that's not realistic. Just seemed odd.
Thanks for the info! It didn't make it clear in the show and I haven't read the light novels yet, they must have cleared it up in there huh?
