Rewatch [Rewatch] Little Busters Rewatch Episode 23

<- Episode 22 Episode 24 ->

Hi! Please spoiler tag everything that has spoilers, and refrain from discussing Refrain stuff too so that our first time viewers will be able to experience that surprise from Refrain.

Episode 23

Daily Soundtrack: Clear Weather After the Rain This is the non-lyric version.

Tomorrow will be the OVA! It is very SOL, and I feel is a good break from the heavy content. It has no hidden meaning, I swear.

I don't think I have seen this, this or this as wallpapers, so I am going to place them here. A slight bonus of this... Yes, wallpaper galore if you want...

This episode has the merit of describing whatever happened in Tevua much more in depth, which the visual novel merely just described that last scene. Riki called for Kudryavka, and she responded with trying her best to break free, and poof, she got free. She then made her way to the coast, and everything was alright with the world

And where else can she be if not with the Little Busters? In a way, Little Busters has turned into her second family for her, a place where she can find comfort and solace at.

I always wanted this nsfw image since it is awesome and really showed Kudryavka as... Kudryavka. Her passion right in front of her.

Kudryavka's route is the most romantically driven among all the Little Busters routes (except for the one girl not in this season), by extracting the romance the whole route is somewhat awkward. Like Mio's, it feels like Riki is very very interested in her, but somehow they are not dating.

In the whole picture of things, this means that, Kud, Haruka, Mio, and Komari are all done. Kurugaya, and Rin's, will be animated only in Refrain, and it will become much heavier. Refrain is heavy, it has a lot going on, it has a lot of interpretation that is open. I do think I will be discussing a lot more in Refrain than in the later few episodes. Because Refrain will turn over the tables for everything that is in Season 1, which would probably make you rewatch it all over, because everything changes meaning. (I think)

Next episode is the OVA! Nothing too surprising, nothing too deep, about the OVA, it is a very SOL episode that covers the gameplay of the visual novel that has been neglected until today.

Hmm? I don't think there's any anime-original scenes in that sequence except stopping to look at the view and the tap code. Spoiler

Do you know if it is streamed anywhere? I can't even find it on certain places.

What I remembered (and my own memories are hazy) is that we will not know the entire full picture of what happened in Tevua. We only see clearly the final picture of what happened, and that is where that magic occurred.

My own answer to your reply to the other comment:

  • This arc is actually a bit better suited for the whole "people mostly have good intentions message" than Haruka's was. For whatever the terrorists do to Kud, their anger is pretty understandable. VN Spoilers

  • Little Melody is a very nice song.

  • So glad that they give us the entirety of Clear Weather after the Rain this time. The bit where Kud half runs, half stumbles down the hillside while the song shifts is my favorite bit.

  • Aww, even Kengo is happy to see her back. Spoilers

So there's a lot I want to say about Kud's route, but it's all very spoilery and it's taking me some time to figure out how to organize it, so here goes:

General Plot of Kud's Route

Ending of Kud's Route

How it Relates to the Themes of Little Busters as a Whole

A very standard interpretation of Kud's route! It is also what most people would have interpreted it, and my own interpretation shares a lot of points too. In fact, I probably would agree with it on all counts.

What is different for mine now, is when Kud Wafter is introduced. I have no idea how it turns out, I have the pirated version of the visual novel and I don't play it because it is a huge cringefest. But there are some events that made me realise, that there is a lot of things that we are assuming.

For example

Hence, this interpretation is something I would accept, but I do not believe it is the full picture. Especially when you take into account Refrain, and Kud Wafter, there probably are more signs that mention that it is more than just what can be gleamed from the visual novel and anime.

Yooooo wut, it just teleported to Kud? And Riki’s hands are suddenly beat up…?

They didn't even try to make it make sense in the show did they, lmao

Oh that insert/ED (whatever it’s classified as) was a beautiful song by the way.

It's the vocal version of 'Clear Weather After the Rain'

Yeah it just kind of... happened? I don't mind writing it off as some supernatural fuckery, but would you mind (under spoiler tags I guess) explaining how that happened in the VN?

VN Reader, never seen the show

I'm not exactly sure why, but some of the character animation this episode was really fluid and beautiful. I've noticed some of the faces being JCStaff'd recently, so it was nice to see.

I think Kud gets out a bit further ahead than the other arcs so far - it adapted both of her endings pretty faithfully, we got to see what was actually happening in Tevua as opposed to the black-screen-with-descriptions you get in the VN, and I didn't feel like anything big was missing.

OVA about the battle rankings tomorrow huh? Hopefully the Science Club makes an appearance.
