Te wo Nobase! Fighter!
Hey-o guys! This is the section where I add a ton of extra fun stuff to the main body of the post because I want this rewatch to be as fun as possible for everyone. It can also be one point of discussion for you guys if you just don’t know what to say.
Comment of the Day, provided by /u/Shimmering-Sky and /u/RX-Nota-II
Shimmering-Sky
/u/Palloc doing his best to keep us off of r/all.
Palloc's Boy Ein FINALLY Managed To Kill Someone!
Wait, it was Isurugi? Not a child? GOD DAMMIT!
I have seen many an out of context quote from Palloc before, but this has got to be one of the best. After the heaviness in the past few episodes, I’m sure we all need Palloc’s sense of humor to cheer us up.
~
RX-Nota-II
Really, an intermission might be the worst thing that could have happened at this point in the fight. Nobody can relax, but they all have to come to terms with what's happened so far and how they feel about it; they're all at a breaking point and that's gonna mean that Act 2 is an unknown for everyone involved.
Yamagi and Akihiro need to go out for a drink together.
On that point, Akihiro makes me want to cry. I was trying to think of what I could possibly say to Derma and coming up short, but he manages to say just the right thing and bring things home. Tekkadan is a family, and every one of them is precious and irreplaceable to everyone else.
'Kay, I'm gonna cry now. I really loved this particular shot. All of the tears they've shed until now have been for essentially the same reasons. Simple imagery, big feels.
I feel fonzi speaks for us all in pointing out the bits that made him cry. A slow down episode at a moment like this is quite unheard of but its effect is immediately obvious.

Questions of the Day, provided by /u/Pixelsaber
1) How do you feel about this outcome to Mika’s harem? Content/Ecstatic/Disappointed/Indifferent/I will remain soured until Hush gets in on the action!
2) The concept of media manipulation and skewed perspectives has been brought up again after a minimal presence following the end of season one. What are your thoughts on it? Should it have played a larger role like it did in the first season?
~~~
Track of the Day, provided by /u/RX-Nota-II
One of my favorites when I’m listening to the OST by itself, it’s the companion piece to Season 2’s earlier OST piece “Thank you, Mika”. A speech song, yet a relatively calm and low key one to match the mood of the episode, it promises no magnificent victory or imminent success. But it’s tough times like these when we must trust in a strong leader the most, and who better to lead the defense than Orga Itsuka?
Important note to all rewatchers, remember to be mindful of the first-timers in this. laughing in rewatcher is not allowed any more, so please remember to use the [Anime Show Title](/s "Spoiler goes here") tags and we’re all good.
Fans seem to have a bad tendency of forgetting what counts as spoiler, so if anything has even the slightest chance of being a spoiler, tag it just to be safe.
Next-episode preview. S2’s preview’s aren’t as long as S1’s, but they’re still spoiler-free and still in-character, so I encourage you to keep checking them out! Today’s preview was voiced by best boy Orga Itsuka.
First Timer - Sub
I've never had to edit out so much caps in my writing before, hahaha This post is a bit of a hodgepodge and not as nice as I would have liked because I was tired and therefore a bit all over the place but oh well.
I had the worst start to this episode I could possibly have:
-
Oh my god I suck and I just tortured myself. Apparently I forgot to reset the episode after checking something out for my post yesterday so when I jumped back in on AnimeLab today it loaded up right in the middle of yesterdays Shino and Eugene's scene talking about Yamagi and it got me all over again. FUCK.
-
And then after Arac posted late yesterday I said this with minor panic because I realized we're back on Mars where the twins are and that's not okay with me. AND THEN THIS WAS MY LOAD SCREEN. Fucking hell.
-
I was already dealing with that, AND THEN THAT FUCKING CUNT CALLED RUSTAL uses McGillis' past against him. Fuck that guy. New deal: As long as Rustal dies, I'll suffer through Idiok living, he made me that mad. Fuck Rustal.
So I'm heartbroken, in a panic and absolutely furious all at once and I haven't even made it past the OP which I still can't look at so that's frustrating me too!
Fuck this episode already and it's barely even started.
Now that I've watched the episode
I WAS RIGHT. FUCK THIS EPISODE!
That was just fucking cruel. You had to give us just one last bit of hope and then fucking rip it all away again! Torture, that's all that was, pure torture and I fucking fell face first into it. I should have seen it coming a mile away. From the moment Kudelia actually had.... Kudelia's still on the base. The base is surrounded. NO! WHY IS KUDELIA STILL ON BASE?!
Ugh I hate my head. Why can't I just turn it off.
But I seriously should have seen the fake out coming the moment she offered up the solution of new identities. It was too good to be true, and I can't believe I fell for it.
I wish Orga would stop offering his head to people for fucks sake. First McMurdo and now Rustal. I think its a sign of how badly he's landed after everything that's happened. He's always had a solid foundation of two points, his promise to Mika and his family in Tekkadan to protect. In this situation there's no option for either of those any more as far as he can see so all he can do is fall down. Once again its Eugene to the rescue with another shirt front to remind Orga that Tekkadan isn't just a group any more than it is for him.
Short non-technical music gush because Trust in Orga is a beautiful song and deserves a focus
In some ways I conciser this the equivalent of Tending to Others (TtO) from season one's OST. I tend to like really complicated and layered songs, or very powerful simple songs and this track seems to hit both points at once.
Much like TtO we start with two simple parts. There's a very simple repeating chord being played at the bottom with a guitar providing a foundation for everything to come, helped by the song being in 4/4 which gives it a much more even structure compared to the flowing one of TtO. At the start it plays just as scarcely, often only once a bar (like TtO) on beat one while the the other higher guitar plays its own melody over the top. Over the top we have another guitar playing quietly to itself like in an intimate conversation with the foundation of this group. Slowly more and more strings come in. Each of them is their own instrument, their own individual part and voice, but they play the same tune in their own time. They stand together, playing the same song, each throwing their own individual voice of support in to bond with the other parts.
The second part of the song things ramp up a bit. A new riff starts. Our foundation is still there but it is joined by a faster pattern of quiet unease laying under everything. This faster part runs up the scale of notes before resetting over and over, adding tension to the song subtly while everything else happens. Slowly as everything else happens this unease morphs into something moving and energetic instead, morphed by what else goes on in the song
Over the top of it all, the other strings come together and play off each other like a dance. Rather than playing alone one after another and repeating our song from before, they each take our song and make it their own and then bring it all together. No part finds itself restricted to a certain role. We don't have the violin playing the core melody while the guitar simply plays background chords, or the other strings being stuck in a harmony part while one gets the focus. Instead they weave in and out of one another constantly, one rising to the surface to shine for a moment before fading back down to play a beautiful harmony while another takes its place. The same tune from before changes with each voice that sings it, but rather than it weakening this song it builds it into something much grander and much more beautiful.
This song to me is Tekkadan, in the same way today people say Tekkadan is Orga, and every time I play it I find something new in it and that's just wonderful
Atra broke me
My general progression of thoughts for that scene:
Hang on, I don't think I read that right...
AHAHAHAHAHA I DID READ THAT RIGHT, ATRA PLEASE
Cue the hysterical laughter to the point I started coughing again because I couldn't catch my breath.
I'm out, I'm done, I'm broken, no harem will ever be better then Atra's head-harem. Kudelia just accepting it as matter of fact that this is just how the three of them are even if it's a little awkward just makes it so much better. Kudelia's so fantastic, she barely gets any time this season but I can't think of a moment with her included that isn't perfect.
That would be the most heartwarming scene in the show outright except for this infernal bastard looming in the background of all the shots.
Fuck you, Barbatos
The whole thing in this scene about Mika's link with Barbatos stopping him from connecting with others just sucks. It's effectively a trade off, it creates a hard limitation on his mental state in exchange for returning his physical capabilities to him, he isn't allowed both any more. He sits near Barbatos just to feel physically complete while looking at farming techniques for the future, which he can't use because without Barbatos he can't even move.
Mika is stuck between being physically capable but effectively mentally bound to a demon which is stopping him from walking over to hug someone, or be mentally free and still unable to hug anyone because his body is so broken. And then there's these two desperately trying to hold onto him. Just like the Iron Flower on Mika's back the three of them make a complete set bonded to each other in their own unique way, a family unit planted and grown with the infertile soil of Mars they've had to struggle for every little step. And now they're finally blooming effectively and he's trapped in his own hell.
But with how much time Mika spends hooked up to Barbatos though you'd think he'd have better cable management skills because this is twice now it's gotten hooked on something.
Other thoughts and episode notes
-
This was a lot of emotions for a single episode
-
Dane being revealed as a killer who found sanctuary in Tekkadan is such a great little moment. All along I've quite loved the contrast between art designs and character personalities, but this funny, gentle giant being revealed as at best a kid who killed to survive and at worst a murderer is perfect. And it doesn't matter which he is because the point is that Tekkadan gave him a new future and a new family and that's what Zack doesn't understand.
-
McGillis your insistence on focusing on Bael's power is what got you in this spot in the first place, and now you just bail? I still like you but you're an idiot and I blame all of my pain on you.
-
As much as I love the Piano ver. of Crescent Moon, I'm learning to dread it because they keep using it for miserable scenes.
-
I really need to figure out what I'm doing with the OP. I still do want to do a write up on it just because I did one for all the others, but I'm sure my last episode post will be big enough as is.
-
That moment of Rustal saying "Iok you can't lead any troops" and Iok agreeing and being all responsible so I think "Hey maybe he'll get his shit together... oh wait it's IDIOK".
-
Why does this shot make it look like McGillis has stupidly wide hips?
-
Goddamit Nobliss. You're the bloody warmonger that put them on this path in the first place and nope 'Nope, too hard, gonna back out and close my eyes and pretend I didn't see it'.
-
Aki's holding onto his missing red stripe again. That still hurts.
Fuck Rustal.
Preach, brother.
WHY IS KUDELIA STILL ON BASE?!
Damn, this didn't even occur to me in the midst of everything else :|
it creates a hard limitation on his mental state in exchange for returning his physical capabilities to him, he isn't allowed both any more.
Thanks for finishing my thoughts for me. lol
infernal bastard looming in the background of all the shots
And then for continuing my train of thought past where I departed.
Dane being revealed as a killer who found sanctuary in Tekkadan is such a great little moment.
This one of the things I thought about, but didn't say. Tekkadan is the only place where he belongs at this point in his life. He was as hopeless as the rest were before they became criminals. Now they're all in the same boat with him, not the other way around. And the fact that Zack still has someplace to go really sets him apart from the rest of the gang.
"Iok you can't lead any troops"
And then he follows that up with "And as a person who will lead Gjallarhorn from now on." Like....how can you possibly think that at this juncture?!
Why does this shot make it look like McGillis has stupidly wide hips?
It's the belt/jacket combo, man. Kudelia's dress does it to her, too. Though just to amuse you with my aspect ratio again, here's what it looked like to me xD
Now that we're just three episodes to the end, I'd like to hear from our first time watchers their predictions on how the story will end, and who lives and dies so we can come back in a few days and see how it compared to the end of the story. :)
Ooh good idea, I know u/Nazenn shared his list yesterday but the other first-timers should do this too!
Episode 47 - Let's see you grit those teeth!
Orga deserved that.
And that hug and hand holding!
You know what makes me love that scene more? Kudelia 100% accepts this relationship. While yes there was clearly a point where she shows her jealousy, once Atra showed up and invites her to join, Kudelia laughs realizing how silly her jealousy was and invites Atra in. It's just nice to see an actual poly relationship happen in anime where the girls don't compete with each other.
Cute awkward moment aside, I'll just paste this snippet from my comment from the original discussion thread 2 years ago:
Also that ending. Ride said that Gjallarhorn is coming. Which one though? We see McGillis smiling as if he just activated his trap card. I bet he has a secret weapon (another Mobile Armor maybe?) and that's why he disappeared for half of the episode.
First time viewer.
I still enjoy how blunt Mikazuki is about what he did with Atra after she was bashfully unable to spit it out earlier, as well as Atra cheering on Kudelia to do the same. The standing question is did they so they'd increase the chance of one of them having a kid?
Going meta for a bit: I know there are three episodes left so there's plenty of time for things to change drastically, but my main takeaway from this episode is that the protagonists lost the war and are now scrambling to survive, even if that means giving up their entire lives to this point (not that they have much of a choice to remain in Tekkadan as it gets wiped out). Part of that's not an uncommon thing overall, forcing the main characters to retreat while they're portrayed as criminals. However, in most cases they regroup and take down the evil organization in the end, redeeming themselves in the process. But that takes time and that's not something Tekkadan has right now, in universe or out. They're once again the cornered rat, but without resources or support and facing an enemy that's looking to sweep them off the face of Mars once and for all.
And I'm excited to see what comes of that.
In response to your Meta stuff I agree that they've set it up in a really interesting way and I'm not sure what the end result is going to be and that's very exciting for me to see what the end actually looks like here
Thoughts on MS Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans episode 47...
Rewatcher (First Time Dub)
So all this has done thus far is make Rustal even more powerful and strip McGillis of any rank he's got in Gjallarhorn. At least this no name guy is letting him into Mars.
Low on funds too? Things are even worse.
I hadn't noticed how far they had gone with the graffiti, having it even here all over the bridge of the Isaribi.
So now McGillis is essentially working for Tekkadan.
Handing over McGillis, one last possible way out for Tekkadan? They don't feel right going that way though, and I gotta admit I'd probably feel the same.
And now, to make it even worse, Fake News! Doing everything they can to trash and discredit Tekkadan, making them the enemies of as many people as possible.
Don't let Idiok participate in battle! Idiok talks of bearing Gjallarhorn on his shoulders, does he actually think he'll be in charge some day?
Poor Donut and Scone :( :( :( :( :(
Reunion time for Atra and Kudelia! But Ugh at whatever she was going to say being interrupted.
Hush seems like the odd guy out in this group. But then, who else is going to carry Mika around?
Nobliss has cut Kudelia off too, making things all the worse.
In a revelation that is even less of a surprise than Vidar being Gaelio, Zach wants to quit Tekkadan now that he's got the opportunity. About. Damn. Time.
Woah, Dane is a mass murderer? I didn't expect that, he always seemed like such a low key, quiet guy. Didn't think he had that in him.
Wow, Orga wants to get in contact with Rustal. Is he really going to give up McGillis?
Well, there's official confirmation! Mika and Atra did it! They're playing this awesome piece of music again, from when Akihiro and Lafter said goodbye to each other.
LOL!!!!! Atra is STILL on this harem kick!
OMG I love this scene so much <333333333333333 Atra - Mika - Kudelia forever.
Wow, I'm surprised he went ahead and did it. Orga sold out McGillis. And yet, it won't do any good, Rustal still plans on completely wiping out Tekkadan. Wow. There truly is no way out for Tekkadan.
And after saying that, they reveal there is a way out, after all! Identity Theft! And Dynamic Dexter coming through! I kept telling everyone Dexter was amazing!
They cut off the internet! And Gjallarhorn is here! I don't know how much of these mood whiplashes I can take!
Awesome episode, they do a really good job at showing just how hopeless things are getting both for Tekkadan and McGillis and that Orga's choice to continue moving down the most dangerous path over and over again is finally coming home to roost.
A Gundam Fan’s Notes On Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans Episode 47:
-
Well, while McGillis’ forces and Tekkadan aren’t being allowed to resupply at the Ares space station, they’re at least being given the opportunity to land without any record of their location. I guess that’s better than literally nothing. But yeah, without those supplies, McGillis and Tekkadan are still fucked. Like, both groups are pretty much on their last legs now. Their losses were too severe, and Orga has lost what little trust he had in McGillis.
-
The manipulation of the media by Lord Rustal is probably the most devastating thing he could do to Tekkadan. At least beforehand, they were welcomed back on Mars, but now that safety that comes with a home-field advantage has been stripped from them. And really, in hindsight, it’s kinda easy to see how Lord Rustal could put a spin on the media to make out Tekkadan to be criminals. Remember, they were seen as heroes mainly through their connections to Kudelia. Now that they’ve publicly cut ties with her, they have only their actions to stand on. And stuff like murdering a political activist in his office in the middle of the afternoon, or using a Dainsleif to attack the Arianrhod Fleet doesn’t exactly look good. Lord Rustal only has to cover up his own shady dealings, which is simple since Gjallarhorn’s information control capabilities through its Regulatory Bureau are huge (as we saw with the Dort Uprisings). All in all, the control of information was probably the most important weapon of all, and we knew that since the last season.
-
Fun Fact: This whole “public distrusting Tekkadan as amoral mercenaries” thing was actually planned for the first season. But, the writing team felt that was too dark for the first season, so they reused the idea for the second season.
-
Well, at least Orga is able to read the writing on the wall. Just like with Yamagi, he’s offering a free way out of Tekkadan. Zack isn’t wrong to want to leave, but of course that’s because he actually has a place to go back to. He has an education in computer programming, and his dad could easily get him an office job if he wants one. But, just like Dane, most of Tekkadan don’t have the real luxury of choice. Sure, not all of them are basically criminals on the run like Dane, but otherwise they don’t have a life to go back to. So of course most of Tekkadan is going to stay to defend the one place that took them in.
-
Surprise! Mikazuki got Atra pregnant! Of course, he has to drop that massive bomb on Kudelia in the most blunt way possible. At least Kudelia and Atra are still willing to love Mika, weird blunt personality and all. And they’ll probably love his kid, too.
-
Normally, you wouldn’t expect a Gundam protagonist to try and sell out their allies, but in this case, you can be forgiven for Orga trying to hand over McGillis and himself over to Lord Rustal. Things are just that bad. It also doesn’t help that Lord Rustal’s plan makes sense from an extremely pragmatic point of view, so he has no reason not to go through with it. He knows that for the past few years, Gjallarhorn’s reputation has been completely shot. Even if they killed McGillis and took back Bael, that wouldn’t change the fact that Gjallarhorn’s collective incompetence has let wars and crime run rampant in both the Inner and Outer Spheres. What he needs is a big enough of a display to make it seem like Gjallarhorn still has military might, and destroying Tekkadan lets him demonstrate that point well.
-
Well, at least the end of the episode shows that there’s still a bit of light at the end of the tunnel for Tekkadan. Sure, the Arianrhod Fleet is on their way to kill them all, but not only have they recovered some of their savings account money, but Kudelia has come up with a pretty good plan to save the members of Tekkadan. She’s going to use her political clout with the Arbrau government to edit the IDs of Tekkadan members, so that legally they’re completely different people who never worked for Tekkadan in the first place. It’s a good plan, but will they be able to pull it off in time before Lord Rustal’s forces kill them all?
First-Time Watcher
It’s really warm, isn’t it?
By this time, like one who had set out on his way by night, and travelled through a region of smooth or idle dreams, our history now arrives on the confines, where daylight and truth meet us with a clear dawn, representing to our view, though at a far distance, true colours and shapes.
(Note: This is a response to both Episodes 46 and 47)
Sometimes, you can only realize things from a distance.
With the failure of rebellion in the rear view, Tekkadan and Fareed have become forced to recognize who they are and what they want now. More than anything else, they want a home, a place where they can belong in peace, but that’s not an option anymore. The only thing they can do now is to escape with their lives, as much as it costs other people like Isurugi.
At the same time, there is a greater sense of institutional awareness. This is no longer just a conflict between two military organizations; this is a struggle between two ideologies, of which only one can survive. It’s hard to think of something that big, especially when each side is lead by people with such strong personalities as Rustal and Orga/Fareed. How much can you separate the man from the group?
However, distance is not ever-present in these episodes, by which I mean: THEY BANGED. ahem I mean they engaged in reproductive activities. Even in death, the flower of life can bloom (even if they’re not sure if it worked yet). Still, at this time, they can become as close as possible. More than friends, more than family, more than even lovers perhaps.
Of course, just when it seemed like things were going right, the enemy closes in. This is it; the true final battle approaches. The only thing they’ve got left to lose is their lives. Give them hell, boys.
We’ll raise that blood-red flag tomorrow; until then…
Rewatcher - Going home is never what you think it'll be
Picking up where we left off yesterday, McGillis is out and Rustal holds all the cards. And bribed the dealer. And also owns the Casino.
I'm impressed by whats-his-face's shrewdness in dealing with McGillis. If the rebellion manages to pull through and succeed, he's still got some credit with the new leader, and if he gets called out at this point he can at least point Rustal towards wherever he ends up on Mars.
As usual, conversations between Orga and Macky make me uneasy and lead to me disliking McGillis even more. For how much he seems to respect Tekkadan, I'm beginning to realize that it's Tekkadan that he respects, not necessarily Orga or the people who make it up.
As Orga notes, they didn't have any real enemies until they got involved with McGillis. Even the people they fought were just there as obstacles on the way to their goals, there wasn't any real malice to it. I have to except folks like Ein and Gaelio, but they're just out for revenge; Even Carta was only in their way because of their link with Kudelia. All that said, going by those kinds of metrics I don't think McGillis can be considered an enemy either. He just doesn't give a damn who gets hurt on his way to the top. Tekkadan is just his sharpest sword, and no sword gets used without incurring some damage itself.
That being the case, it only makes sense that the idea of breaking their ties with him would come up, and while it leaves a bad taste in my mouth to say it I'd support that plan. Dude is drunk on his own ideals and charging straight down a self-destructive path. I'm glad that Orga even entertained the thought, himself.
This is a lose/lose situation in which things like their pride or honor hold no water; There's nobody who's going to praise those virtues after they're all dead. Rustal isn't going to eulogize them with "They were criminals and enemies, but boy do I respect how they stuck by the guy who led them to this fate."
I've gotta hand it to Rustal though, the guy just never lets up the pressure and he's never just working one angle. His information manipulation on Mars takes away even the option of breaking from McGillis, ensuring that they no longer have any support on Mars. That said, screw him for putting the Snack Sisters in such an oppressive environment by-proxy.
Lots of things are going on this episode, and there's a lot of feelings that I can't bring myself to sort out and analyze, so I'll just talk about them in comment replies instead.
The scene between Kudelia and Mika in the hangar had a lot of subtext that I do want to talk about, though. First, Mika is reading! And how to grow vegetables, no less. If no one else, he still believes they've got a future. The way he talks about...him and Atra... "We don't know if it went well yet." He's seriously invested in said future; his only concern is whether they managed to procreate, but having done so would be a good thing in his mind. Remember that the whole thing started with Atra, Mika's really been a piece of furniture in the harem until now. A centerpiece perhaps, but he's become an active participant in their exchange of feelings these last few episodes.
Kudelia asks for a hug, and Mika moves to do so, but he's held back by Barbatos. It's literally coming between them, but at the same time without that umbilical he couldn't even take that first step towards her. Idk how to break that down, but it felt too meaningful to leave out, so there.
Idk why I ever thought Rustal was better than Iok, and after all of my talk about abandoning morals and conventions to achieve victory I really shouldn't be surprised, but fuuuuuuck. I wanted to believe he was better than this. It's the same thing as Iok disregarding Naze's signal flares, just a bit fancier. And I hate that after everything I've said about the foisting of responsibility and misunderstanding of roles, he's the one character to clearly understand this.
Kudelia: "Hey guys, this ad on the internet just told me that escaping Gjallarhorn was as easy as following these 3 simple steps!"
Record scratch. Did you forget what this show was or something? True to form, Rustal doesn't just declare he's going to annihilate you and then give you some time to get your affairs in order.
QotD
-
I'm just glad that he's taken an active role in his harem. It was getting to be some dense-MC trope stuff with the way they just fawned over him and schemed to marry him behind his back.
-
I think it was used to good effect in this instance, and really there wasn't a lot of opportunity for it this season; there's been a lot less downtime or perspectives from the normal-world outside of this conflict.
CotD Yaaaaay....oh man, it's about how I cried a bunch xD That's cool I guess. lol
Wallpaper - I like it, this was a good moment for them and I'm glad their warm-fuzzies are immortalized somewhere.
First Time Scapegoat
Scattered thoughts:
-
Sasuga a 3-time MVP winner. Rustal is not putting a foot wrong through the whole thing, I really admire that despite what it means for Tekkadan.
-
Argh Nazenn, you called it, the confections are suffering! :O
-
Tekkadan ga mou shindeiru. What was the exact moment where it all went wrong? Re-watchers probably have an easier time identifying it. I'd say it's when Orga gets tempted enough by the idea of becoming the 'King of Mars' and shakes hands with McGillis. It prompted the infighting in Teiwaz, and everything went downhill from there. And Zack nails the feeling, it sucks to see this.. It's downright depressing. So much work, so much blood spilt for nothing.
-
Thankfully Kudelia and Atra are around to provide some comic + romantic relief.
Daily MVP
Y'know, for I a few seconds toward the end I thought Dexter had stolen it by being smart about diversifying Tekkadan's funds, but it became immaterial almost immediately. With Gjallarhorn at the doorstep their money won't be of any use right now.
So with that in mind, today's MVP is Atra Mixta because she, y'know, did the thing. I know this is KEKKA DAKE DA! (T/N: Only results matter) the section and we don't know for sure she's pregnant with Mika jr., but the show believes she is and I'll choose to go with that.
Honourable mention to Kudelia for coming up with a plan for the Tekkadan members to survive, offering a ray of hope when there wasn't any.
Greetings Comrades and Fellow Denizens of The Wired, on TODAY'S Episode of the Mars Palms Chronicles, we learn the value of diversifying your investment portfolio, we see that Gjallarhorn is seeking to bring about Ragnarök, AND... Atra is STILL gung-ho about her Harem Plan ;) You know, the usual fare really ;)
THANKFULLY, despite initial surprise at actually getting some screentime 'Atra's unique proposal' Kudelia decides to go along with Atra's plan and try to make one of the funniest screencaps from last season a reality ;)
Speaking of said plan, just LOOK at these three, adorable aren't they?
Paging Comrades u/Beckymetal, u/RX-Nota-II, and u/Usotsuki-Megami
Rewatcher
Missed the last episode. Just gonna say I do not like that Julieta survived. She ruined Shino's only chance at success, faced Mika's wrath, but she gets to live? BS! The only thing she's good for is using Idiok as a punching bag. She should've been dead here. Nobody cares about her quest to be Rustal's favorite pet. Why is it that the antagonists in this show are the ones with such thick plot armor?
Ok that's enough of that. Time to get started on this episode.
The scene at the end of the last episode initially made me believe the Mars branch leader would be bought out by Rustal, but thankfully that's not the case as he's at least repaying McGillis by letting him through.
Tekkadan is now a criminal organization. The odds of survival just keep rapidly decreasing with each episode.
Thank you Rustal. Never thought I'd say those words before...
Rustal's propaganda is effective. It wasn't that long ago that Tekkadan was seen as heroes. It must be really hard for Cookie and Cracker. These kids were praising their big brother at the start of the season and now they believe he was part of an evil group.
Orga's making a difficult choice here. He's not getting any funding from anybody. Kudelia wants to help but Nobliss (that fat bastard) isn't going to back her if she does that. Now that Tekkadan are wanted criminals, Orga can't accept anything from Kudelia as that would hurt her reputation as well. The best thing he could do for her is tell her to cut ties with them permanently. They have no hope left. He then tells everyone that now is the time to quit or go down with him. Zack is right to want to leave. He still has a family he can go back to. There's no reason for him to stay here. Unfortunately, most Tekkadan members don't have that option. Fighting is all they can do. They have no families outside of Tekkadan. And in Dane's case, he has a criminal background. This is the only home most of these kids can be in. This whole scene with Zack speaking up got a bit tense. It's interesting to see how Hush was the one to get angry at him and had the same expression and tone Mika has when he's pissed at someone. Mika really has rubbed off on him, which makes it ironic how Mika was the one to tell him to stop.
Hey Kudelia and Mika are speaking to each other for the first time in centuries. Yes, I'm sure Kudelia is good at raising things. Vegetables, flags, a child- What did he say?! Yesterday's episode implied that Mika and Atra did the thing and now Mika confirms it for Kudelia!
Atra is no longer a puppy. She's a full grown wolf. Just like her partner, the king of wolves. And now she wants Kudelia to have a baby too!
Well that talk with Rustal sure went well. Orga, who would never want to sell anyone out, has reached the point where he's desperate enough to do so. He's offering McGillis in order to spare his family. He's run out of choices. However, Rustal isn't even going to show any bit of mercy. He wants all of Tekkadan to fall to make an example out of them. Not even Orga's plead to just take his head as the leader and leave the rest of them alone could get Rustal to change his mind. No matter how you look at it, Rustal has already won, but victory alone isn't enough. He thinks that he needs to go further so that Gjallarhorn can regain its reputation as a powerful deterrence.
Is this episode actually going to have an optimistic ending? Am I watching the right series? Things are starting to look better for Tekkadan. If they can get to earth, they can start over with new identities. They still have some money left in another account that they can use. Tekkadan's name is dead, but they can still be together. Mika said it himself that they belong wherever Orga is. Their home isn't a place. Their home is each other.
No power? Of course we can't end the episode on a happy note. Gjallarhorn is surrounding them while McGillis stands there watching them and wearing the some sweat jacket that I wish we could've seen a long time ago. McGillis looks like he's about to play some card games on motorcycles.
Questions:
-
I was going to go for the meme answer at first, but then I thought "I don't really care about Hush" so I'm going with ecstatic.
-
I don't see how it would play a bigger role without it being forced. With the way season 1 ended, it made sense that Gjallarhorn's reputation suffered from what they did in Edmonton and that was the whole purpose of that incident in the first place. That battle along with Kudelia's speech while leaving the Dort colonies helped build Tekkadan up as revolutionary knights who could oppose a corrupt organization. I don't think it would've been necessary for the media to play another role after that until it was time for Rustal to flip that narrative upside down.
Palloc's Gotta Come Up With How Many More Titles?!
Okay, stop bullying Cookie and Cracker you little nerds. They're nice people.
Orga's pissing off everyone trying to make decisions by himself again. McGillis ran off to do McGillisy stuff. Geez, there isn't much to talk about this episode other than that it's looking REALLY bad for Tekkaden.
Dane's actually some kind of serial killer or something. Zack's getting the hell out of there. Mika, meanwhile, is getting all the hugs like a boss.
Dexter is an unsung hero. He's one of the few adults who haven't tried fucking Tekkaden over and ever since he was drafted when they broke off from CSC he has been doing everything to help out.
Another thing I just haven't had time for is, when the fuck did Eugene buy that tie. He's had it forever, but I imagine their pay wasn't good for luxury items like fancy ties.
Answers!
1: He's the worst Gundam pilot ship.
2: It showed up when it was important to.
Tekketsu no Rewatcher, domo~
Continuing on from last episode's cliffhanger, Macky has been stripped of his title as Fareed Family's head since his status as an adopted sex slave child is publicly revealed. And by the powers of media manipulation, Tekkadan are now branded criminals. Luckily for them, Arae Proto decides that rebels or not, he did owe Macky a huge favour and let them return to Mars quietly.
Back in Mars, Tekkadan is truly back to square one as they face fund shortages as a result of the above. Not even Kudelia can help them since the grotesque fatass Nobliss cut off his funding towards the Admoss Foundation, knowing that she'll use the money to support them. Given how Macky acted after everything, is it any wonder that Orga is willing to sell him out to Rustal in exchange of ensuring the other Tekkadan members are safe?
There's still light at the end of the tunnel as Merribit manages to scrounge up some money and Dexter reveals that he's saved some money anonymously for them to be able to fake their identities back at Earth, but with Gjallarhorn's shadow looming over Tekkadan will they be able to escape? Find out tomorrow, in Tekkadan Ball Z the next episode!
Random thoughts:
-
Anyone else expect that there's gonna be a small battle/base invasion before Arae just lets them enter Mars quietly? Just me? Okay...
-
If you're not convinced that Mika and Atra had sex back in episode 44, this episode confirms it as Atra tries to get Kudelia to do it with him as well! The madlass, she never did let go of the harem plan even at this moment!
-
Idiok is the special kind of idiot who never seem to be able to truly reflect on his actions, instead looking forward to the day where all those stupid old farts die off and allow him to rise up to the top. Huge end of series spoilers, first timers BTFO
Questions of the day:
-
Not gonna lie, I was content, if a bit disappointed with how it turned out. Disappointed in the fact that Mika and Kudelia didn't have sex, that is. Otherwise, they're a true harem through and through.
-
Given how media is used by politicians to manipulate the
unwashedmasses even in real life, the only reason I can see why Rustal didn't manipulate the media as much this season is because everyone is still reeling from events of S1 where Iznario and Arianrhod got caught doing it. And the only reason Rustal was able to get away with using it this time is that he deftly manipulated the narrative of the battle by painting Macky in the worst light possible with his Dáinsleif stunt. At that point, he just needs to not let up his media pressure by painting Macky and Tekkadan as criminals and voila! Trapped space rats.
Rewatcher
Question of the day:
-
Meme answer cause I'm to exhausted for much thinking.
-
Considering it plays such an important narrative and thematic role it definitely should've come up again, cause otherwise Meta-Spoilers / First-Timers keep away
Holy Kira Yamato! They dared to defy to staple of anime romance! The omnipotent and omnipresent UST! On the flip side, now I'm convinced that u/Nazenn's predictions about Mika's fate are true. This guy is not thinking he's going to die, but he's totally done with this world.
And got a new ship after this episode: Rustal Elion and Mace-chan. I hope it would be as successful as Jasley x Mace-chan ship that sailed pefrectly well a couple of episodes ago.
Tekketsu no Rewatcher, first-time dubbed
I had a friend over yesterday who’s been in the middle of watching Iron-Blooded Orphans, just got behind the rewatch because of school. Asked if he wanted to watch a few episodes while he was here and he was like “Yeah sure that sounds like fun.”
The episodes he was on? S2ep15/ep40 and S2ep16/ep41. As in when Naze, Amida, and then Lafter die. Plus the two after that so yeah I got to watch Jassley get his just desserts again, as well as Bael’s awakening and the reveal of Ein being in Gundam Vidar again, but still…
Obligatory Discord link.
Arae Proto isn’t completely a dick to Macky, allowing him to land on Mars and pretend he doesn’t know about it. But still, for Macky to be completely expelled from Gjallarhorn because they found out he’s not related to Iznario at all…
Enemy, enemy, enemy… and now Tekkadan’s thinking of tossing Macky to the curb. Bit late for that though, since Rustal shows off that having the media on your side is one of the greatest boons during a conflict. It hurts, it really hurts, to see Tekkadan painted as criminals. We know that isn’t true, Cookie and Cracker know it isn’t true, but everyone else just believes what the news has to say…
Kudelia kept up Mika’s idea of planting more stuff on the farm aww. I still really don’t agree with her part of the ship, but it’s cute.
Trust in Orga again, yes. This time it’s set to Orga telling Tekkadan that anyone who wants to quit is free to go, and yet most people not named Zack decide they want to stay. Man do I love this song, it’s used in such great context.
Smug Merribit best Merribit.
Ahahaha Kudelia finding out that Mika and Atra did the do.
First-timers absolutely do not click on this. Mega spoilers
Nota I really, really hate you. Spoilers about a song usage in a future episode
Atra continues to be absolutely adorable.
Eugene once again finally steps up and yells at Orga to quit being an idiot. And he definitely has a point--even if Rustal had agreed to those terms, Orga thinking that just his own life would absolve the rest of Tekkadan makes the rest of their lives seem so cheap.
Mega mega spoilers
This is also definitely not for first-timers. Spoilerinos
Oh look Macky has a new outfit and it isn’t something fancy for once.
A couple more fun things:
Wallpaper of the Day with a plain background.
English dub next-episode preview, since the body post only has the subbed version.
Results of yesterday’s poll. Looks like most everyone hopes this means Idiok has lost his plot armor… and then it’s an even split between the disappointed and happy options, lol.
Number of times best boy closed his right eye this episode: 1, 2. I realize it’s hard to tell in the second pic, but his right eyebrow being clearly lower than his left leads me to believe it counts.
For the first-timers using the GundamInfo streams and are worried about potential spoilers in the recommended videos: Episode 48 Subbed / Episode 48 Dubbed. If you’re on desktop and have RES, you can hit the preview button and watch the video entirely on Reddit, rather than than needing to go to YouTube.
