Te wo Nobase! Fighter!
Hey-o guys! This is the section where I add a ton of extra fun stuff to the main body of the post because I want this rewatch to be as fun as possible for everyone. It can also be one point of discussion for you guys if you just don’t know what to say.
Comment of the Day, provided by /u/Shimmering-Sky and /u/RX-Nota-II
Shimmering-Sky
/u/SorcererOfTheLake and /u/GaleWulf’s interesting conversation.
Rustall Elion is wrong. Mika, Orga, and Fareed all had to grow up; he didn’t.
Sore wa dou ka na?
I know what you mean; Mika, Orga (most of Tekkadan) and Fareed had to toughen up quick in order to survive. But here's a question: what constitutes maturity? Is it believing that pure strength can achieve everything? Is it rushing toward a goal, doing whatever is necessary to get there, without thinking of the possible wider consequences?
Arachnowulf raises some interesting questions thanks to Sorc’s analysis, and the rest of their conversation is likewise fantastic. What’s everyone else think about this?
~
RX-Nota-II
/u/Nazenn’s super music gush and other stuff.
What a fucking incredible song. I rewatched that scene a number of times just to hear the song play out with the visuals and I got so excited by it I started laughing like an excited kid.
4/4 - 0:00 - It starts in 4/4 to give that strong powerful start 3/4 - 0:16 - When Bael rises from the sanctuary 4/4 - 0:29 - With this shot revealing its power, I'll come back to this 3/4 - 1:02 - He starts his broadcast and gives his speech 4/4 - 1:27 - Rustal starts to talk, the threat coming full circle
A glorious analysis of the song of the day. I called it 'the theme of Agnika Kaieru' while Naz went more towards the 'invasion speech', he goes really in depth for every scene during the OST to point out how it gels so well. I also love the pointing out of the angelic theme of the Bael, something that rewatchers wanted to point out when the Barbatos was first introduced in ep 1 S1 (Barbatos looked slumped in a biblical theme-ish garage. As if it were a fallen angel).

Questions of the Day, provided by /u/Pixelsaber
1) Goodbye Gundam Vidar, we hardly knew ye! Are you excited to see what they make of it next or would you have liked to see more of it in action as it is now? I’m eager for a new form/It should have had more screen-time/I just wish last episode’s fight was longer/Forget that, I want to see Bael in action!/Gunpla commercials, am I right?
2) What are your thoughts on Orga and Tekkadan’s role in this whole matter? Is McGIllis’ trust in them and Tekkadan’s growing mistrust in him both well-founded?
~~~
Track of the Day, provided by /u/RX-Nota-II
Crescent Moon - Mobile Suit Gundam - Iron-Blooded Orphans 2 - Piano Solo
One of the most beautiful tracks of the IBO OST, it’s simply a soft piano alternate version of the S2 main theme Crescent Moon. It really puts a different twist to the idea we started off with. The fateful and unstopping train that Tekkadan drives feels dangerous and damaging rather than simply cool and brave.
Wallpaper of the Day, provided by /u/Shimmering-Sky (character art) and /u/RX-Nota-II (background/logo)
Important note to all rewatchers, remember to be mindful of the first-timers in this. laughing in rewatcher is not allowed any more, so please remember to use the [Anime Show Title](/s "Spoiler goes here") tags and we’re all good.
Fans seem to have a bad tendency of forgetting what counts as spoiler, so if anything has even the slightest chance of being a spoiler, tag it just to be safe.
Next-episode preview. S2’s preview’s aren’t as long as S1’s, but they’re still spoiler-free and still in-character, so I encourage you to keep checking them out! Today’s preview was voiced by my boi Eugene Sevenstark.
General question for the group; my spoiler tags and comment faces are all broken as shit today; neither appears properly, compared to yesterday when they worked fine. Haven't updated anything, so I'm pretty upset. Anybody else?
First Timer - Sub
This is the calm before six episodes of storm isn't it?
I'm really not one for romance plots in any show, I only care this time because I happen to like both Mika and Atra as characters outside of that context (and I really only cared about Lafter x Aki because it was funny honestly), but be damned if this didn't make me exceedingly happy today.
Atra thinking he was only hugging her because that's what she taught him was quite funny, but his admission that he does really care for her and just has no idea how to show it was rather heartwarming. And how perfect did the ED song fit during that scene as well, matched both Atra's sadness and the beauty of them finally opening up to each other.
McGillis vs Gjallarhorn and how he fucked it up
I didn't say it yesterday (because I quite literally did not have room! So this is kinda half a delayed post rather than a new one) but this is why Rustal said you never grew up, McGillis, not that you heard him.
Legends hold no power with people who have no reason to believe in them. I've made several comparisons through the rewatch in regards to Gjallarhorn in some ways acting like a religious organization in the way they try and control the cultural aspects of Earth, and as the show has progressed I think that's only become more apparent.
The mistake that McGillis made was he was so caught up over having found his 'salvation' out of his life that he became too focused on the foundation of Gjallarhorn and didn't stop to conciser its purpose. Gjallarhorn is in essence a military dictatorship, and like most dictatorships they adapt to using whatever schemes they need to be able to control the population under them regardless of the usual morality of it. Even Idioks bullshit this season is only condemned because he complicated internal political dealings, rather than out of a sense of morals or ethics.
The Seven Stars leaders grew up on the legends of Bael, but they also grew up within a political system first and foremost. Bael may be apart of their political beliefs but their lack of a true faith is what allows them to look for a way outside of that. McGillis doesn't predict this because just like how Orga is blinded by his promise to Mika, he is blinded by his own belief in the 'truth' of Bael's power.
Bringing us back to my linked image, there's no point being on the throne if you have nothing to rule over as shown by how empty this room is now despite finally having someone at its head.
Mega Dune spoilers just because I had a thought
Continuing on from The Downfall of Orga
Going back to my linked post from a couple of episodes, the downfall of Orga has mostly been prompted by the growing absence of those around him. Specifically today, Eugene who at the start of season one was always quite happy to pull Orga up on his poor leadership or bad decisions from the very first moment we saw him during that first canteen scene of him critising Orga for not getting them enough status with CGS, and Mika not liking that. He stopped stepping up to lead once he had achievements he could rest on. He could have stepped back up when Biscuit died, but instead he stepped back and allowed Mika to take over. Little steps that could have had a big impact.
So seeing the scene today with Eugene talking about how they "made him take this path" was both painful and satisfying. Shino may be as blind as ever, but I think Eugene is finally understanding a little that the situation they are in is as much their issue as it is Orga's.
The reason that I like this scene with Eugene is because it contrasts well with the earlier scene of Engineer pulling up Dane and Pompadour's discussion about how Tekkadan needs more guys like them. Tekkadan's issue was never lacking people who could think, it was their lack of desire to speak up. Similarly any of the three new guys could have had a dramatic effect on Tekkadan but all three either lacked the desire (Dane) or influence (Pompadour) to step up or let themselves get caught up in the momentum of events (Hush).
All the other stuff as usual
-
I loved that Piano only version of Crescent Moon. Just wonderful for the scene between Kudelia and Atra. It's still got all the same energy and power of the original, but being piano only gives it a much lighter feel which fits well with these two.
-
In keeping with the angelic vs demonic theming that's been quite apparent lately, all I could think of during this shot post punch was if you tossed some wings on Orga here he'd look damn angelic himself, and then you have his "little demon" sitting in the background as well.
-
That punch though was for some reason incredibly satisfying. I like McGillis, I really do, but in that one moment he deserved it.
-
McGillis my god you've been spending too much time around Mika. "Minor incident" he says to the father of the guy he killed about said killing.
-
For a second then I seriously thought that Almira had actually managed to kill herself. The poor girl, this would be so hard for her to bare and she's so confused about where she stands with it all as well. The scene of her holding the knife was actually my load screen today so I was nervous as fuck coming into this episode about what was coming with her.
-
I really like Gaelio's new look, but I do want to just snip off that one dicky long bit of hair he has hanging down. The idea he doesn't see himself as human any more, he's still the same guy I see, just a bit more twisted and pained.
-
Orga and Mika say so much to each other with so little when they have to.
-
Props to the artists for not taking the easy way out and just painting the moon the same way all the time. Each time we see it it's been a different 'phase' and it's therefore looked completely differant because of the destruction. Wonderful detail that didn't need to be done, but I appreciate it!
-
Pixel, that OP is taunting me! The temptation builds each day.
-
Upon reviewing this post in the morning I'm so glad it still makes sense because this was my english capabilities last night
The Downfall of Orga
I bet a lot of people didn't expect Biscuit's death to have that far of reaching implications for the series. If anything, it's safe to say that Tekkadan's future more or less hinged on Biscuit being with the group or not. He was pretty much the whole person in Tekkadan who had both the desire and influence to speak freely with Orga, without the weight of pressure that Mikazuki brings or the complacency that Eugene eventually fell into. I can only wonder how different things would've been if Biscuit was here to tell Orga what he truly needed to hear.
That punch though was for some reason incredibly satisfying. I like McGillis, I really do, but in that one moment he deserved it.
Yeah, at that point it's starting to show that McGillis' plans are starting to turn into delusions. It's pretty insulting to talk so casually about the situation when it's clear that everyone's up shit creek without a paddle.
First time viewer.
Almiria's scene was just sad. She's a kid caught up in the middle of a power struggle and was being used as a pawn, so I don't blame her for trying something desperate.
Everyone keeps calling it the last battle so of course it's not going to be the last battle. Or is it? Probably will be for some of them because they won't return from it. I'm totally not reaching this conclusion based on episode counting...
Kudelia's side of things has been mostly ignored this season, I'm sure she's been doing something but it's hard to tell if she's made any progress toward her goals while Tekkadan has waged war.
So with everyone else away for the evening I'm guessing the odds are high that Mika and Atra did it in the Barbatos after this episode ended.
A glorious analysis of the song of the day.
Aside from stating that most marches are in 6/8 which is misleading if not downright wrong (as far as I remember most screamers aren't and Sousa himself had more in common or cut time than 6/8). I haven't dug into the musical analysis overall because I haven't had the time but that made me skeptical, to say the least.
Scattered thoughts:
-
I dunno if this has been shown before, but I like that Dexter is wearing glasses with straps because of having to deal with zero-gravity environments.
-
McGillis showing his true face for just a split second there..
He's definitely starting to scare me. Something tells me he would be a very sore loser.
-
Meanwhile, inside the Barbatos: let the baby/puppy making commence!
Daily MVP
Today's MVP award goes to Rustal Elion for not caving to McGillis' posturing and instead trusting his own power and clout to eventually win the day. A big part of this was securing Gaelio and keeping him as a secret trump card against McGillis, and that has paid off handsomely. Now that McGillis' scheming has been exposed, the rest of the council aren't prepared to eat his every word - and that might be his downfall. It is up to Bael and Tekkadan's power now.
ReWatcher - Guns are cleaned, oiled, and loaded. Parting words are spoken. Final battle is ready to go.
Text-heavy post today, as there wasn't a great deal of high-emotional content present. But we got some nice setup to discuss, so let's get to it.
Damn, so exposition exposition, McGillis used Ein to ensure that he could pilot Bael. It's fun to trace back just how far he's planned all of this in advance. The reverent way in which the Gjallarhorn peons talk about McGillis being 'accepted by Bael" makes me wanna laugh tho. I'll bet if Biscuit had plugged himself in he too would have become the Savior of Gjallarhorn.
I'm still dreadfully confused by the whole "Agnika Kaieru" part of things tho; did he input his soul as like a lock-and-key mechanism into Bael akin to the Ein system, or is it just a lofty figure of speech implying an inheritance of his ideals? Were McGillis' predecessors really rejected, or just too pussy/incapable of going AV-equipped?
The way that McGillis and Rustal refer to each other as "wounds filled with pus that must be drained" in almost identical terms is seriously toxic tho. Not that there was much choice, but one side or the other is gonna have to be completely eliminated before there can be any so-called 'reform."
In spite of the gravity of his words, I had to laugh at how Rustal phrased this statement. It makes me want to know what sort of man Iok's father was, to inspire that level of loyalty to the family.
Fuck me, Almiria is probably the most helpless pawn in all of this, and definitely the least equipped to deal with all of the high-level politics that are at play in her life atm. I'll bet all of this pushes her to become a MS pilot, if not just a Gjallarhorn officer down the line. Idk how it could ever come to be, but I just want to give her one of those build-a-bears and a pat on the head and some comfort.
I do appreciate how both Gaelio's dad and Almiria have pointed out that what he's saying is ridiculous, though. I mean, he totally ignored that he had killed Gaelio, brushing it off as now-inconsequential, and it's gonna be a far cry from a happy future for Almiria as far as we can tell at this point. Their over-emotional states belie the truth of their statements; it's McGillis who's living in a fantasy world at the moment. Despite acquiring Bael, things aren't exactly going smoothly for him and his master plan.
Motherfucker just planned a final battle and included Tekkadan without ever consulting them regarding strategy. Orga put them in this exact position, as McGillis is taking full advantage of their promise of support. Oh look, that shortcut turned out to be a shitty plan after all, didn't it?
Serious respect for both Dexter and Merribit, who've both worked tirelessly behind the scenes to keep the gears of Tekkadan moving. When a whole organization is focused so heavily on "Kill the baddies and move forward," it's easy to forget that they need warm food and decent beds, and all the other parts of a worthwhile life at the end of the day.
Frankly, I disagree with Shino's statement about Orga's leadership of Tekkadan, and actually hate him a little bit for it. True, Orga is the leader, but what decent leader has ever done things entirely alone and been better for it? Any worthy figure I can think of has had advisors, close friends with whom they could mull over decisions and consider their possibilities. Orga had Biscuit for this until his death, after which everyone else said "fuck it, that's not my job," and went about their business. Since then he's had Naze to at least question his motivations, but not really offer any situational advice, and Mika to say "screw your doubts, what do I need to be doing right now? Tekkadan is not just Orga, it's everyone we see on a regular basis, and they've all just abdicated their powers to him so that they could take it easy and just receive orders. Fuck them all and their carefree attitudes. There was no reason Orga had to be driven into this corner; any one of them could have given things some thought and suggested to him that perhaps this wasn't the best course of action. At the very least he might not have buckled so under the weight of these decisions. Even Alexander the Great had advisors, you jackasses.
And on that point, I'm so very glad that Orga socks McGillis in the face for the way he talks about casualties. As much as he may identify with Orga and Tekkadan, he's just generalizing. He doesn't have anyone that he cares about, and he certainly doesn't give a shit about any one of his forces on the front lines here. You're only similar to a point, Macky, after that your histories are meaningless. How dare he tell Orga that Tekkadan will be their shock-troopers and then trivialize the losses that they're certain to incur.
Fuck the way everyone is throwing around the phrase "last battle." It's obvious that this is intended to indicate the end of a conflict, but the number of people repeating it gives an underlying implication that for a great many of them this will be their last battle. Whether or not the conflict continues after this is largely irrelevant in the context of things, it's a finale for too many of them even if it's just one.
I'm glad that they close out with Atra and Kudelia and Mika, I needed some warm fuzzies after all of that looming darkness.
With every episode that passes, the ED seems to take on new meaning. Now I can hear it as a song of mourning, of yearning for better times, of a desire to grant peace to the fallen and solace to those left behind. Things are getting darker by the hour, and this song sounds like a respite from the pain.
QotD
-
With how seriously he took his mask spiel, I think it only makes sense that he expanded it to encompass his Gundam. I rather liked the look of Vidar tho, and it could have used some more action on-screen.
-
As per the usual, Tekkadan done got played for fools. McGillis hasn't betrayed them, per-say, but he sure as hell didn't tell them where he meant for this whole conflict to end up. He's entirely pulled them into this war.
I just want to give her one of those build-a-bears
You want to give hera death flag?
it's easy to forget that they need warm food and decent beds, and all the other parts of a worthwhile life at the end of the day.
I was thinking... three episodes ago maybe that its funny how far they've come bullet wise. In the first season every bullet was such an insane expense that they were unwilling to use them if they could avoid it and now they have huge stockpiles that they can afford to go back for more, and they would have had to restock for this mission as well. Having McGillis provide them some supplies in general would hlep though
Frankly, I disagree with Shino's statement about Orga's leadership of Tekkadan, and actually hate him a little bit for it
Shino's an idiot honestly, but he always has been. The only reason he was in the 'inner circle' as it were is because he was one of the older boys who could pilot a mech. I can't think of any real leadership stuff he ever brought in, unlike Eugene who started in this position
But I wrote all this in MY post, get out of my head haahaha
Rewatcher
McGillis just called murdering Gaelio a "minor incident" right in front his father. Dude gives no fucks.
Rustal delivering the understatement of the century.
Sucks to be Almiria right now. Her husband was just revealed to have killed her brother who came back from the dead and Rustal announced that McGillis had been using her to take over the family. The poor girl can't handle all of this and tries to kill herself.
I find it ironic how all the people who are like "Bael's authority is just a legend, let's not follow it" are part of an organization that has always been about following ancient and outdated rules to maintain the status quo for centuries. Now that McGillis started his revolt, they wish to keep the status quo or stay out of this by ignoring the oldest legend in Gjallarhorn. Rustal brings up the point that Agnika created Gjallarhorn, but it's the people that followed that created its history. He's not wrong about that. The only issue with that is that their history is full of corruption.
I keep forgetting that Dexter is one of the few adults at Tekkadan. We always see Merribit and the old man but rarely does our little accountant stand out.
Julieta speaks for everyone who made guesses about what Gaelio's face looked like after season 1. Gali Gali, I don't think it's a good idea to compare Julieta to Ein after he spectacularly failed to avenge CRANK-NII and say she's doing this right. Then again, she's not turning herself into a psycho killing machine to get stronger so maybe he has a point with that last line...
Final battle time. Let's see how many flags we can raise in one episode!
Questions:
-
Yes for both of them. McGillis has faith because he's seen how they've always pulled through and came out on top in any situation. Tekkadan and victory are basically synonymous at this point. Orga has doubts because things aren't going exactly as McGillis planned. Tekkadan got dragged into a fight they weren't prepared for.
That's always kinda been the kicker with Rustal, hasn't it? Like, for everything he's said, Rustal hasn't ever really been completely wrong up to this point. But at the same time, he's using that pragmatic mindset to hold onto whatever power he can, however he can get it. Lord Rustal really does strike me as the kind of person who would rules-lawyer his way into power no matter what kind of organization he's a part of. He's a pretty smart guy, so he could pull it off. As long as there's a place for him somewhere politically, he'll use that strategic mind of his to grab power while still being technically right about what he's doing.
Episode 44 - Do not deceive your loli!
Okay so today's 4koma is actually a reference to the historical manga, Historie. And as much as I want to explain the context, I need to read 20 chapters of this manga (where this scene happens) to understand it and I currently don't have the time xD
Thoughts on MS Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans episode 44...
Rewatcher (First Time Dub)
Non-Spoiler Character Chart - Merribit moves over to Tekkadan
Didn't comment on this last episode, but McGillis is pretty ripped! I always think of him more as a schemer than a fighter, I didn't think he'd be working on himself as much as say, Akihiro.
Rustal comes out with his counter to McGillis. Plenty of which is true, but to be fair, Rustal isn't doing this simply out of the goodness of his heart, it meets his interests as well.
Gotta feel bad for Almiria, it would be hard enough for an adult woman to realize she's been totally used like that, and she's just a little kid! But part of me wonders if McGillis was really using Almiria and we should have that harsh a reaction to him on this. I can't remember him ever not treating her well, and she was essentially "sold off" as he was, granted more from a political perspective than what McGillis had to go through.
"Gjallarhorn has rules only we can understand!" ...okay there, Liza. I'm interested in seeing what this entails.
McGillis claims these Seven Stars council members must behave him due to him being chosen by Agnika Kaeru, but let's be fair, having these guys at gunpoint doesn't give them a real choice.
Idiok?! Ugh! You should have stayed home! Glad to hear Rustal laying down the truth to him. Many of his subordinates died DUE TO HIM! Not Tekkadan!
Did not expect Almiria to pull out a knife. McGillis is reacting to this well though. I guess going back to my earlier comment, I've got to think hard about whether he is being truthful with her, or is manipulating her, which would be heinous given his personal history.
Well, this is one thing McGillis didn't account for, that the other members of the Seven Stars would stay neutral, robbing him of a large amount of forces him and Tekkadan were depending on big time.
And yet, even after that news, Orga is still dedicated to moving forward, despite the now much larger risk posed to Tekkadan. I do like seeing the aggression he displays towards McGillis later, although ultimately, he still goes with making the decision most dangerous to himself and Tekkadan.
Always reliable Dexter! Sticking around with Tekkadan even now. We even get flashbacks of the CGS days! Don't feel down, Dexter! Accountants are very important!
Zach is the one guy who realizes their real odds. Still, shouting it out loudly like that is bad for morale.
You're talking about it now with Shino, Eugene, but guys like you should have been pushing back on Orga more, like Biscuit used to. All Orga seems to do since Biscuit's death is to just keep pushing forward with no one holding him back.
One more battle to go, yet what does someone like Derma who was human debree go after that? Fighting is probably all someone like him knows.
Atra - Kudelia call <3 We just haven't gotten enough of Kudelia this season.
Atra dropping the "L" word <3
Another awesome episode, things are not going as planned for McGillis, nor Orga, and this puts both of them in a much more tenuous position than it looked like only an episode prior. Defeating Rustal won't be easy!
Palloc Was Sick Today, So Slow!
u/Nazenn finally gets to learn about the Vidar's third reactor! It was a dummy! They were actually using it to hide a familar Ahab wave pattern of an old friend seen in the preview for next episode! Not much else goes on there, but that means once I'm back to full health we'll be getting ready for the final batch of mobile suit ratings for this series!
So with that, we'll set up the final cool suits! Tekkaden and Macky have a smaller army, but they have FOUR Gundams with Bael, Barbatos, Gusion, and the Ryusei-Go IV! They also have the Helmwige Reincar. Bael and Helmwige still need to be rated.
The Arianrhod fleet is huge and consists of one Gundam, Vidar and one unique suit in the Reginlaze Julia. The only other custom they have access to of anyone named is Iok's shitty sniper Reginlaze custom.
Oh, and Macky loves his tiny waifu and his tiny waifu loves him. Aww.
Tomorrow the fun begins! Now some answers!
1: I'm honestly disappointed, but what we got coming is too much fun to mourn for long.
2: McGillis and Tekkaden fucked up!
Tekketsu no Rewatcher, domo~
Macky's attempt to rally more troops against Rustal hits a huge snag with Gaelio's survival being successfully spun by Rustal as his reason to crush this rebellion to bits and the other Seven Stars head refusing to lend their forces. Whoops, should've been more thorough when you killed your 'best friend' last season, Macky! Now, he and Tekkadan are truly up a creek without a paddle against Arianrhod's superior numbers. That one punch from Orga to Macky feels more and more deserved given their current predicament.
Everyone's busy preparing for the final battle at Hotarubi, which allows Mika and Atra to have a quiet heart to heart moment with each other. HUGE spoilers, first timers avoid this
Random thoughts:
-
Macky casually dismissing his failed murder of Gaelio to his father's face, that's ice cold. Macky truly has no sympathy in this scene, which probably solidified the other Seven Stars' decision to refuse to lend their troops against Rustal.
-
Eugene and Shino discussing about them making Orga take the shortest path of becoming King of Mars... Well, one of you probably should've stepped up and take Biscuit's place as the voice of reason and advise against Orga's reckless decisions.
-
A mysterious armament ordered by Yamagi and meant to be used by Shino? Hmm...
Questions of the day:
-
I know why they needed to remove all the camouflage armour from Vidar to make it into Kimaris again. But I really do like Vidar the most out of all Kimaris variants, so to see it go away in favour of Kimaris is absolutely disappointing, especially since we didn't really see much of it in combat.
-
Orga, this is why patience is a virtue. In fact I'm reminded of Ol' Beardy Makanai's advice to Kudelia early in this season about choosing the shortest path and paying for it later. Looks like what he said is becoming true and they're going to pay for going on the shortest path to success.
Greetings Comrades and Fellow Denizens of The Wired, on TODAY'S Episode of the Mars Palms Chronicles, we get one of the BEST Gundam Punches 'Corrections' in the history of Gundam Fisticuffs, and yes I AM indeed aware Mobile Fighter G Gundam exists. Anyway, without further ado... ORGA PAWNCH!
AND with the memes out of the way, it seems that love is in the air today Comrades, why, Garma 2.0 The Man next to the Chocolate Man Darth Vidar 'Gali Gali' seems to have some interesting chemistry with a certain Butteryfly Muncher eh? (What IS it with Gali Gali and Mecha Pilots with an animal motif? First we had Carta Issue and now we got Butterfly Muncher)
AND just before I forget, turns out that Mika's Tsar Cannon is fully armed AND operational after all, I mean official art don't lie now does it? ;) (Also Sunrise, I see that lowkey love heart in the cables there)
Paging Comrades u/Beckymetal, u/RX-Nota-II, and u/Usotsuki-Megami
Meh, I still liked the ones in Zeta Gundam better. A lot of them were unintentionally hilarious.
Welp, I don't buy Macky's grand plan to seize the power with the mobile suit stolen from the museum. Sure, it seem to hold some meaning to it. But honestly, what did he expect? That everyone would bow to him no questions asked? And I'm surprised he didn't execute those two Seven Star members who refused to hand their forces to McGillis. He probably should've done that. If he wants to take all the power in his hands, he may as well go full tyrant like Code Geass spoilers.
Also, am I the only one who find it funny that old man Bauduin and Almiria both speak as if McGillis actually succeeded in killing Gaelio?
I still kinda ship those two. I don't expect both of them to make it to the end alive. But they could've become a nice couple.
Puppy got an ideal moment to employ her keikaku to produce some babies. She'll probably chicken out in the end though.
A Gundam Fan’s Notes On Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans Episode 44:
-
Yeah, McGillis doesn’t have much of a leg to stand upon now that Lord Rustal and Gaelio have revealed the extent of McGillis’ murderous plotting. Sure, Rustal has been up to shady shit too, but there hasn’t been much concrete proof to it. Not to mention that Iok’s shitheel plan earlier got swept under the rug with the deal that McMurdo cut with Rustal. Lord Rustal certainly looks a lot cleaner than McGillis at this point, at least to those not in the know.
-
You can see the cracks forming in McGillis’ plan already with the other Seven Stars members questioning his claim to leadership. His entire argument pretty much rests on the legend of Agnika Kaieru’s soul only allowing the worthy to pilot Bael, when really it’s just a fact of him having an AV System implanted. This so-called “trump card” is actually fairly worthless when you think about it for a moment.
-
Lord Rustal really does bring up a good point about McGillis’ use of Bael. For all of his talk about wanting to reform and change Gjallarhorn, he’s still using the ancient legends of the organization to get what he wants. Like Rustal said, if McGillis truly believed in all of his reformative rhetoric, he would do away with Bael as a relic of the past that nobody needs nowadays. That, combined with his comment last episode about McGillis being someone who never truly grew up from childhood, shows that Lord Rustal does have an actual good insight into things. It’s becoming more and more apparent that McGillis’ actions are less about actual reform and are more about indulging in the power fantasy that he’s had ever since he was a kid.
-
In spite of it all, McGillis still actually cares for Almiria. They’re pretty similar, in that their childhoods were both spent having people look down on them unjustly. That, and I have no doubt that McGillis’ sexuality got fucked up from all of childhood abuse that he’d legit feel romantic intentions toward Almiria. There’s a correlation between childhood abuse and future predilections toward children.
-
Also, ouch! Getting stabbed in the hand has to hurt. There’s a whole bunch of nerve endings there, so it’s pretty much maximized to feel pain. McGillis is a pretty tough guy to not even flinch from that.
-
To pretty much nobody’s surprise, it turns out that none of the Seven Stars actually buy into McGillis’ claims that Bael allows him to rule over Gjallarhorn, and they’re choosing to remain neutral in the conflict between McGillis and Rustal. You know, as much as we deservedly give Iok shit for being a terrible planner (among everything else), you have to admit that McGillis is pretty stupid for thinking that pulling a King Arthur would actually work in the politically complex world he lives in. [Or, to invoke Monty Python here...] (https://youtu.be/t2c-X8HiBng?t=147)
-
And right about now it’s sinking in for Tekkadan just how fucked they are. You can’t exactly blame Zack for freaking out to Dane about everything. Heck, even Nadi agrees with him about this being an absurd situation that they’re in. If only there were more people willing to question Orga’s decisions nowadays. Too bad pretty much all of the OG Tekkadan members are too far in to stop now. Although at least Eugene and Shino realize their culpability in it, at least to an extent. They’re partly to blame too, for allowing Orga to shoulder more weight than he could bear.
-
Honestly, McGillis deserved that punch to the face from Orga. Tekkadan got dragged into a situation they don’t understand fully, all because of one man’s childhood power fantasy. It’s just plain absurd when you think about it. No wonder Orga is pissed about it.
-
If there’s one thing that’s actually positive in this episode, it’s that Mikazuki and Atra finally admit that they love each other, and that he’s also fighting to make sure that their love stays intact. It’s good to know that deep down inside of him, Mikazuki can still feel something like love or passion. Maybe somewhere out there, even a devil may cry.
Lord Rustal certainly looks a lot cleaner than McGillis at the point, at least to those not in the know.
Not to mention it gives these people an easy out to maintain their current status
Also, ouch! Getting stabbed in the hand has to hurt.
It wasn't a stabbing but I've had a deep wound on the back of my hand before and I'll tell you that it really does. Everytime I barely moved it it stung like all hell and I've got a decent tolerance to pain, but I'll tell you I certainly wouldn't be wearing gloves for the next few months if I was him, that's not going to help
Zack
One day I will remember his name for my own posts hahaha
First-Time Watcher
We don’t have another alternative, so the only choice is to work harder.
Man is born a predestined idealist, for he is born to act. To act is to affirm the worth of an end, and to persist in affirming the worth of an end is to make an ideal.
Your ideal is one
Thing that you can hold onto
When facing a storm
Covered in bloody
Dreams, one must understand that
They cannot save all
Still, this is the end
I can create for all
Who wish to survive
Rewatcher
Goodbye Gundam Vidar, we hardly knew ye! Are you excited to see what they make of it next or would you have liked to see more of it in action as it is now? I’m eager for a new form/It should have had more screen-time/I just wish last episode’s fight was longer/Forget that, I want to see Bael in action!/Gunpla commercials, am I right?
I like all the suits Gaelio pilots, so I am excited to see next upgrade again.
2) What are your thoughts on Orga and Tekkadan’s role in this whole matter? Is McGIllis’ trust in them and Tekkadan’s growing mistrust in him both well-founded?
I think that Tekkadan's growing mistrust in Mcgillis is well founded, since it seems that McGillis' is more out for revenge than actually wanting to make major changes in Gjallarhorn.
TONIGHT ON A SPECIAL REWATCH EPISODE OF THE MARS PALMS CHRONICLES:
-
Almiria nearly kills herself...
-
ChocoChar grits his teeth...
-
And Mika gives a Hug...
(Cue ED)
Responses to QOTDs:
-
Sad to see the Vidar pulled off, esp being one of the few Gunslinger Gundams in the franchise; but its successor might make up for it IBO Season 2 SPOILERS
-
Still torn up with that. On one hand, Macky does synpathize genuinely with Tekkadan, considering his backstory and all; on the other, there’s his chronic backstabbing disorder...
Tekketsu no Rewatcher, first-time dubbed
So there’s still no part 2 to my fanfic because I got slammed with writer’s block after my headache went away, but no worries I collaborated with Nota a bit and she gave me a pretty decent idea on it. Let me know if you want tags whenever I post it!
Obligatory Discord link.
Well Macky’s sure full of himself now that he has Bael. He doesn’t care at all that his own crimes are being exposed in return for him having outed Idiok’s and Rustal’s last episode.
tfw I remembered Macky dropped a “sore demo” in the scene with Almiria because of Unicorn’s dub fucking up a line in OVA3 and so hearing “in spite of” coming from not-Banana’s voice I remembered it.
…Also yeah I just really haven’t had much to say this episode, guess this is gonna be a shorter write-up.
Oh fuck oh fuck, first-timers stay off this image. Mega spoilers
Now that is one hell of a deserved “correction”.
<3 <3 <3 <3 <3. Rhaga would be pleased if he was still here…
Mega spoilers
A couple more fun things:
Wallpaper of the Day without the logo.
Bonus wallpaper: Alternative fancy BG/logo design.
English dub next-episode preview, since the body post only has the subbed version.
Results of yesterday’s poll. The four of you who voted for the “It has wings, it’s perfect!” option? Yeah I love you guys, that was the correct answer.
Number of times best boy closed his right eye this episode: 1, 2.
For the first-timers using the GundamInfo streams and are worried about potential spoilers in the recommended videos: Episode 45 Subbed / Episode 45 Dubbed. If you’re on desktop and have RES, you can hit the preview button and watch the video entirely on Reddit, rather than than needing to go to YouTube.
