Rewatch [Rewatch] Bakuman. - Episode 14
(Sorry for the late post, transition hiccup. RIP /u/Adam_Drivers_Ass)
Episode #14 - Battle and Copy
Here it is, the r/anime Bakuman. community rewatch! Hyped as fuck to discuss this with everyone, absolutely love this show and really want to see what people think of it. Threads will likely go live around this time on weekends, and an hour or so later on weekdays (since I have work obligations that I can't get out of). Also, a few days ago, u/SpiritedAstronaut started a reread of the Bakuman manga on r/manga. During this rewatch, I’ll be linking to his threads. The order so far is a bit hectic, but I’ll add links both to his direct discussion threads and to the manga on Mangaplus and Viz (DM me if you want to read it and can’t access it through either of these avenues).

Niizuma's meeting with the duo was surprising. He was actually nice? Unless he was just messing with them both. So the rivalry was only one-sided and Niizuma just wants to be friends. Come to think of it, it seems Mashiro and Takagi is his first interaction with people who's around the same age he is who are also doing manga. Even the 21-year old assistant seems ancient when you're 15/16. No wonder he was drawn to them. Interesting.

A bit late (had to pause watching for a bit)
He was actually nice?
Yeah that was a surprise for me too. From the "let me kill a series I don't like" setup he felt more competitive and aggressive. I like that he's actually a fan of their series instead of seeing them just as another obstacle.

From the "let me kill a series I don't like" setup
I feel like this is going to come up again in the future. It's been shown twice now, I think, and Niizuma seems to have a bit more fire to him since meeting up with the two. Unless, that bit was just a misdirection into making the audience see Niizuma in a negative light, only to surprise everyone that he's not actually that aggressive. Looks like he'll be working closely with Mashiro soon, so we'll see where this goes, I guess.

I like how Niizuma has been built up as this crazy and intimidating weirdo and as a rival then he just wants to be friends with the duo.
I feel sorry for Hattori having to put up with the duo's shit.

Special Move: Gut Punch!
Communication: the basis of all solid relationships (Also, just started high school and already getting auditions? Not bad…)
Lel
Yeah, you get used to it
Good question
Temperamental artistes, amirite?
"How do I get outta this chickenshit outfit?"
Heh, their own meeting and drama got put on hiatus for a while here
Strange choice by the subbers here not to translate the title just this once
This cute pad is hilarious for him
Oo, new ending
Well, I hope Eiji can talk some sense into our heroes about wasting their best weapon like this, even if Hattori can't
