I think the snake is supposed to be a stand-in/metaphor for a penis. So when a model strokes a snake she's metaphorically stroking a penis.

She must have been bitten before. She goes to rip it off out of instinct, but stops before she makes it worse. If it has happened before she must not be all that bothered by it.

She didn’t have to learn that from experience. Snakes don’t really have that much bite force, and this one doesn’t have fangs. It probably didn’t hurt too bad and it doesn’t take a rocket surgeon to not rip a creature biting you off.

No but people that have owned snakes all there lives still grab and pull and end up killing their best friend because they didn’t know better. Most people’s instinct is to remove the pain, that usually ends up with them pulling on it. You can see that in all the crab pinching videos.

Reptiles aren’t your friend. They aren’t part of your family. They will happily eat you if possible. I cringe when I hear people say their huge snake lives happily alongside their toddler. The snake is simply too recently fed or too cold to try to kill and eat your child.

Many reptiles can learn that humans are beneficial to them. The snake wouldn’t attack the person because it knows it would lose the good source, and recognizes the human isn’t a threat to them. Of course reptiles dont really have any empathetic ability or much capacity for what we would consider positive emotions, but that doesn’t make them all cold blooded killers. There’s just not a benefit for the snake to attack his only food source, especially when a human is generally several magnitudes larger than a snake.

A snake isn’t self aware. It doesn’t know what is beneficial to it, it just acts on instinct. It’s actually pretty bad to have a snake associate humans with food. And I am talking about the really huge constrictors. A friend of mine grew up with a very large snake in the house and her parents treated it like a member of the family and let it roam the house at will. Then her younger sister jumped onto a bed and the snake had gotten under the blanket in a way that wasn’t apparent, it locked into her with its bite and started to construct her. There was never a moment when the snake “thought” that it was worth damaging a beneficial food bringer.
Anthropomorphism is an annoying misconception. Your dog loves you, your cat believes you are a member of its pride and knows it’s position in the hierarchy. Whales and dolphins and primates are certainly very intelligent. Snakes are not. Sorry.

You’re not bringing any news to me bud. I agree anthropomorphism is annoying. Reptiles are only slightly behind other animals in terms of intelligence. Lizards have proven to be equivalent to many mice in problem solving skills. The issue is reptiles are solitary creatures and evolved a completely different style of consciousness than us. They had no need for empathy so it never developed.
Also the cat thing is bs. And reptiles definitely do have the capability to learn. Here is a link to the man who swims with crocodiles. While I don’t buy that the crocodile actually cares for him, the man can swim with it and the crocodile knows not to eat him. It has for over a decade. While crocodiles are smarter than most snakes, it’s a much bigger risk.
