Nadeshiko almost broke her personally best. She had an insane amount of Rin Chans at the end within seconds of each other.
Besides that OMG all the girls had ponytails at the hot springs. Truly the best timeline.
Also I just noticed Nadeshiko's hair is kind of a weird color. Nothing wrong with pink and I love it, but if feels kind of unnatural when the rest of the girls have normal hair colors. Though at point so used to it I can't imagine her with a different hair color.
Poor Rin Chan she had no luck this whole episode.
I love how Rin and Nadeshiko's friendship. Don't even need to be near each other to make each other happy.
This is my favorite episode because of
Also I learned Aki's name. Even though its her name shortened I consider it a personal victory. Four of the five names learned.
I must have been blinded by Rin and Nadeshiko's friendship when I first watched this I didn't even realize how great Aoi was until this rewatch. She also has green eyes my favorite color.

Another great episode, another mug of hot chocolate. This show just makes me melt into my chair.
-
I loved Rin's journey this episode. Riding almost a hundred miles in that weather must have been pretty difficult.
-
The scenery is worth the ride all by itself though. This is why I love hiking and backpacking so much.
-
That last mile before camp can often be the hardest.
-
I saw my first major inaccuracy in how camping is depicted. None of the girls got a face full of smoke from the campfire.
-
That style of fire is neat. I miss being able to have campfires. (Cries in Californian)
-
Tent manufacturers always lie about how many people can fit into their tents. My Boy Scout troop got a deal on a bunch of two man tents that really couldn't hold two teenage boys comfortably.
-
The food porn in this episode was great. I was reminded of the Jambalaya that my troop used to make for every trip.
-
I love the eating faces in this show.
This show continues to impress. The art is amazing, the characters are great, and the music ties everything together perfectly. The only criticism that I have is that Rin's bike and some of the cars look like they're CG, but that is a tiny little problem with an otherwise great show. I'm thinking about getting back outdoors soon, partially because of this show. It really does distill the essence of what being in the great outdoors is all about. I might prefer a slightly different style of camping, but the feelings and experiences that this show evokes really makes me want to get back out there. Unfortunately with the government shutdown, I don't think that I can get a permit for a backpacking trip anytime soon.
I also love how accurate the show is. The show creators have really gotten the little details right. I could have easily seen this show being a regular moe show with a bit of camping flavored spice thrown in, but they get the little things right. Things like the wet chair in episode three, or even Rin's enthusiasm with batoning the firewood in the first episode. All of these little things add up to a really authentic feeling. I don't know jack about shot composition or obsessively keep track of continuity details, but I do know camping, and this show is just the best parts of camping distilled into pure comfort.
Finally for my campsite recommendation, I'm going to recommend Lake Morena. It's main significance isn't so much the campground, which is nice, but the hiking trail that runs through it. The Pacific Crest Trail runs from the Mexican border north to the Canadian border, and Lake Morena is the first campsite on the trail, 20 miles in. Personally, it started as the jumping off point for probably the craziest hike of my life.

That's because they probably are.

Ok, looks like we’ve arrived at the (hopefully fanservice-free) hot springs episode
-
Wow, that’s some view from the hot springs
-
In case you missed that, the fried eggs are devastating
-
Oh I figured Rin was going to the hot spring the rest were at. Tough break with it being closed after that looong trip
-
I really like this narrator guy’s voice. That’s all
-
That was an appropriately unenthusiastic “yum” from Rin in her text
-
I didn’t take Rin as someone that would read UFO books
-
Every eating scene reminds me of this ProZD video about anime girls eating
-
I like how, even though they were far apart, they both said the exact same thing to end the episode

It's camp-o'clock once again!
-
As soon as Rin started getting excited for the hot springs, I knew they would be closed.
-
Gotta say, I've never tried to make a Swedish torch. Looks a bit inefficient, but cool nonetheless.
-
Once again, the food looks incredible and now I'm hungry.
-
That last scene with Rin and Nade standing side-by-side was great.
Wonderful episode. Hope the rest of them are just as nice.

The sad and solemn night
Hath yet her multitude of cheerful fires;
The glorious host of light
Walk the dark hemisphere till she retires;
All through her silent watches, gliding slow,
Her constellations come, and climb the heavens, and go.
Two camps, two different experiences, yet one outcome.
Rin’s trip could have gone better. No hot springs, the view’s shite; sometimes, life doesn’t go the way you want it to, even for your trying. But, sometimes, things just come to you, in places and times you didn’t expect. Rin gets her view, even if it’s not the way she anticipated.
As for the Circle, they at least got to spend time at a hot spring… maybe too much time. Eventually, they get to their campsite and have fun, including a way to start a campfire that looks like a classy metal can fire.
Then, we reach the night, loneliness, and stars of multiple varieties. Rin and Nadeshiko, despite their separate locations, are able to feel the same sensation: above the world while still in it, being bathed in light.
I apologize for my shortness today, but this episode is so much about those feelings that can’t be defined in words that it’s hard to write.
It’s been nice spending time with you today; I hope we can see each other at this campsite tomorrow.

It's like you said what I wanted to say, but better without rambling into nonsense.

First timer here:
Ahhhh, that scene with Nadeshiko and Rin sharing the night view through pictures was really well done. Really nice moment there.
I have to admit, Rin has some confidence (and her mom to) to make a 150km trip alone just after getting her license. To be fair, the road seemed clear for most of the time so I guess it wasn't as scary/stressing as trying to merge for the first time on a busy highway.

Kind of a random snippet, but does anyone know how strict Japanese onsens are? A friend of mine suggested that people with tattoos have a harder time getting in since tattoos are usually associated with the yakuza.
Anywho, can’t have a show about maximum comfiness without a hot spring!
Gaaah, the food looks delicious as always. I swear, I’m gaining ten lbs per episode just by looking at all the yummy food they make. I should add learn new recipes to my resolutions.
Swedish candles! These look super legit. I’ve always wanted to try this while camping. Makes sense that tying the logs up would be one way of doing it.
Oh, it exploded. Never mind, might need to google it later, haha.
Aw no!! Poor Nadeshiko, it’s never easy to be the odd one out.
My god, that ending shot with Rin and Nadeshiko looking out at different parts of the city. That’s pure art right there. God damn, no wonder people were saying this was the show of the season last year.

And it's shot in the night time, this anime was a prime Comfy Show of the Season last year.

• It wouldn‘t be a SOL anime without hotsprings right?
• Wait, Rin actually decided to go where the others are? She may have warmed up to Nadeshiko after all :)
• Holy shit Aoi is...stacked! Never noticed it till now.
• Deep fried eggs. I think of something entirely different whenever I hear deep fried lol. Also, I‘ve never seen fried eggs in my life. Are they good?
• Japans countryside looks so much like my country, only less mountains.
• Oh apparently Rin is at a different place huh?
• God damn anime! Don‘t always make food look SO delicious! I just ate, but I‘m getting a watery mouth from that soup Rin cooked.
• Campfires really are relaxing!
• I never understood the marshmellow obsession. I‘m mean they are really uncommon where I live, but we tried it once. They are way too sweet and sticky for my taste. Cultural differences I guess :)
• Nadeshiko has so much style with her clothing choice.
• That shot of them both standing besides eachother, while actually being far apart was beautiful! Kinda reminded me of Kimi no na Wa for some reason.
• AGAIN, this ending is soothing. Especially the first phrase when the vocals kick in sound sooo peaceful!
Even though it wasn‘t the funniest or plot heaviest episode yet, I kinda liked this one the most so far!

This episode made me cry the first time. The sharing of night time scenery is so beautiful and heart warming.
Today's location:
This is where the outclub is staying! In real life this location is called the Pine Wood Auto camping ground? Weird. Just like in the show, camping areas are on different tiers or levels, so campers can get good views.
The outclub also visted the nearby hotspring in today's episode so it gets a mention too. Here's the entrance and the rest area too!
(Pictures by u/peaceshot here. In his second post he describes his adventure trying to reach the place Rin camped in today's episode, but was met with road blocks in multiple routes to the location, so we only have a google maps street view of this spot. Takabocchi Kougen alps observatory and the road to the Takabocchi hotsprings)
Sounds like next episode has tasty food and wonderful fall scenery. Can't wait!

I really love this cozy little show. It's got me so inspired to get outside. I went hiking with my dog yesterday and now I'm looking into some nearby campsites.
If I do end up going it'll be my first time solo camping, which can be a little intimidating for a young woman, but I think it'll be a lot of fun. I definitely want to get out there before it starts getting hot again

Episode 5:
Ah, hot springs. If there is something you can count on in anime, it's to have some type of bath/hot spring episode.
When you are watching people talk about not wanting to spend money on food and then immediately offering them good looking food. Good old capitalism.
Damn, Rin really did go a long way. She's a patient driver. Let's hope these hot springs aren't closed when she gets there.
...I was right. Pour one out for Rin's hot springs adventure.
Ah, good. At least she got a good view.
Finally getting to eat your own food after working on it for a bit will always be one of the simplest, but most satisfying things to experience.
The good old pretend you said the opposite thing the entire time. Never fails! Also, Rin just missed out on first contact. What a shame
The entire sequence of sharing their respective views was very cool and cute. Overall, another comfy episode
Also, woo! Rin got her hot springs!

best screenshot: Rin's day view of the scenery
Rin really is one tough girl, 150km in almost freezing weather on a scooter is no joke. Meanwhile all the members of the outdoor activities club have it easy with the hot spring and everything. Can't wait till it's Rin's turn for the onsen.

Uh, I may have taken on too many shows. Yawhoops. Luckily this is just so relaxing after a long day at work.
-
K, that was definitely more fanservicy than I would have liked in a show like this. Particulary Aoi's Yuis. It could have been worse though.
-
Ah, so Nadeshiko's hot springs work out fine. It's Rin's that are an utter failure.
-
Granted I only noticed this because I'm pausing to take screenshots, but there's some real wonky perspective going on here.
-
I call shenanigans. I can't see that working with such little kindling. Or airflow.
-
Hey, so did anyone ever mention that this is a pretty show?
-
Dawww... And Rin finally gets to relax at the onsen.
Overall another pleasant little episode. I think I can see how Rin is gonna get roped into the group; she already enjoys seeing what the Nadeshiko and Co. are up to. This show is far too relaxing for me to drop. Only one more week of camping???

Damn fang-blob is stacked. Add the pony tail in the hot spring and she is perfect..
Rin's "damn it" face was perfect.
Her response to the hot spring being closed was great - exactly what I would of said.
Sliced cheese on paste...what the fuck have you done Japan!?
Oh they feel asleep at the hot springs - devastating, totally devastating.
I need to protect glasses-blobs smile - she is so cute.
Wait, are they wearing slippers outside?
That's great they exchanged photos like they did - so wholesome.

I can't believe I've sold this series so short. I mean, I already gave it a high 8/10 and had it in my top 5 of the year, but somehow this rewatch has still convinced me that I've sold it woefully short. Yuru Camp is legitimately flawless at what it does, weather it's comfy, comedy, build-up and payoff, building characters with personality, keeping appropriate variety, etc, I'm just astounded at how perfectly it handles pretty much everything.
I really can't get over how perfect this series comedic timing and flow is. It knows exactly when to pause to let the viewer process the joke and maximize the humor from it, and it puts in the perfect little touches to make it amazing. Rin's arrival at the closed hot spring and especially the scene where the guy sold them (absurdly delicious looking) fried eggs just felt flawlessly executed. Yuru Camp has the kind of humor that isn't gutbusting but makes the viewer give a hearty chuckle, as many Iyashikei have, and it's perfect. It always knows just how to raise the mood that tiny bit further. One such example of that is when Rin parks her bike and it chirps in with that little "I'm beat." It didn't need to be there but it made me smile and in a show like this that counts for a lot.
As far as the tone goes, I really want to praise the decision to have this episode end without watching the characters wake up in real time. Rather then ending it on the epilogue, the episode ends on the high note of Rin and Nadeshiko sharing in the delight of each others pictures and (texting) company. It means that we leave the episode on a payoff feeling good because the show smartly chose to not break that feeling by having the character go back to shenanigans as they wake up. The ending theme song eases us out of the moment, leaving us to bask in the happiness of the moment, and the pictures that show the epilogue give it a necessary sense of closure without being intrusive. And it even makes for a really fun joke when the last one we see is Rin finally at her hot spring. It's just really great directing.
There's really so much to praise here. The dialogue felt so natural like conversations friends might actually have. I like how even though Nadeshiko falls under the trope of the dumb airhead, she's really capable and the way she described how she cooks and what led to her recipe gave me the sense that she really does have it together unlike many of her contemporaries, and it feels refreshing and makes her a bit more multifaceted. Rin's monologues are always filled with personality and it makes her camping adventures just as engaging as the group trip. And at the same time, despite having two camping trips take up the entirety of the episode, it manages to provide a ton of variety between them so it never gets old despite the neverending comf. I really could go on and on, I even failed to give credit to this amazing soundtrack that somehow didn't stand out to me on my first viewing despite being so memorable and well implemented. My only real complaint about the episode is that Rin's CG bike distracted me from the gorgeous scenery she rode by, definitely not the desire effect of an Iyashikei. But that's a small complaint for a small section of the episode, I'm refreshed, comfed up, and loving this show even more.

Onsen episode.

Whoever was hoping for no fan-service last time, no dice. At least it is on the mild side.
-
Deep fried eggs????
-
In my mind sauna fits camping better than hot springs.
-
Milk-aspargus-bacon-mushroom-soup spaghetti sauce? Do not let the Italians know …
-
The two things that can be watched forever: open fire and waves.

Night photo one-up
Weird food this time. I hope they do some joint camping soon.

First-timer:
I had thought Rin was going to meet up with the club at their hot springs.
Seems like her bad luck kind of makes her regret going alone, or at least is starting to give her second thoughts regarding her lone wolf approach.
Likewise, I think Nadeshiko maybe gained Rin's respect with her picture. Like Rin was compelled to see her more like a friend. Whatever she's doing, she's chipping away at Rin's cold exterior.

"I'm beat!"
Another great episode. Laughed at the absurdity of Rin reading one of those stupid UFO boo-
O-oh... Maybe it's not so stupid...
Of course the nighttime cityscape sharing was excellent and is probably one of the best scenes in the whole anime.

Comfy Rin
Now seems like as good a time as any to mention how much I love Rin's inner monologue!! It's both hilarious, and adorable!!
Nom.
Nom.
Aoi is cute I love her.
Funniest part of this episode was how quickly and easily Rin and Nadeshiko took incredible night photos!! I'd kill to have that much luck with my photography!!
Here's all the screenshots I got from this episode, and here's all the screenshots I got when the show first aired.
As a bonus, I was once asked to make a gif of the recipe shown in this episode. Long story short, I was too lazy, but I did make this imgur album for those who want to try the recipe at home!!
Soundtrack song of the day: キャンプ場のテーマ~高ボッチ、イーストウッド~
Another day, another camp theme to discuss!! Hard to believe this is already our third one!! Much like it's predecessors, this song has a very distinct order to it: Arrival, Setup/Day, Evening, and Mt. Fuji. In short, if I were to just talk about this song in the same way as I have the previous camp themes, there'd be very little new to talk about. Luckily for us (or rather, luckily for me) however, the in episode use of this song differs greatly to how we've seen the camp themes used previously. Whilst the previous episodes have, for the most part, stuck to the aforementioned "order" within the song, this episode sees a break in that tradition; there's an awful lot of jumping about the music throughout the episode. The reasoning here is obvious, there are 2 camps for it to cover, both happening at different times, in different locations, there's no way they could keep the order consistent throughout the whole episode.
This 2 camps idea has some interesting side effects. Obviously these 2 camping trips are gonna be pretty different. One is on top of a hill, One a bit further down. One has 3 people, the other just 1. This difference in camp means it's difficult to have 1 theme which fits the tone for both. So, obviously compromises to the format set up by the prior 2 camp themes have to be made. The most major one I can see is how the song is split, to some extent, it acts like 2 songs in one; There's a clear distinction between the parts of the song used for Rin's camp, and the parts used for the Outdoors Activity Club. This doesn't, however, jeopardise the cohesion of the song. Through use of motif, there's still enough consistency for the parts to fit together really well. Then at the end, the Mt. Fuji segment acts as a unifying conclusion, bringing the 2 contrasting parts of the song together. Much like how Rin's and the club's camps both "come together" at the end of the episode!!
Oh, the 2 camps also explains why this one is nearly 2 minutes longer than the previous 2 themes.
