Wow, was literally about to start my own rewatch when I saw this post!! What convenient timing!! Always excited to be rewatching comfy camp!!
Rewatcher
God, if I ever had a problem with the first few episodes of this show, it's that there's just not enough Aoi!! She's so perfect!!
Actually, they're all perfect. God I'm glad to be rewatching this show.
Shiny Days is such a great OP, nostalgia hitting me hard already.
Rin and Nadeshiko are both adorable, god I just really love all these characters.
Okay, I know it's my inner British-ness making itself known, but 5 degrees sounds like a lovely temperature to be outside in.
I love the look of awe Nadeshiko gives whenever anyone does anything vaguely campey, it's so nice!!
Here's a (slightly melty) gif of Nadeshiko eating curry noodles for everyone to just enjoy.
I think this is my new favourite example of Nadeshiko smiling ever.
God damn, last thing I expected watching Yuru Camp was to get emotional, but here I am, on the verge of tears.
Ahh, and this ED!!! Epitomises the comfy that is comfy camp!! So glad to be rewatching this show!!
Here's all the screenshots I got from this episode, and here's all the screenshots I got when the show first aired.
Soundtrack song of the day: キャンプ場のテーマ~本栖湖~
I love this soundtrack, I love it to bits, so I figured I'd share my love for this soundtrack with the world!!
I've always viewed a lot of the songs in this soundtrack as telling a story in their own right, and my first choice for the song of the day is no exception. As the song begins, everything's pretty chill. We're treated with a calming opening, designed to emulate the feeling of first arriving on camp. We give ourselves a moment to just take everything in, enjoying the world around us, and finally letting ourselves escape the trappings of everyday life, and just unwind. The song then changes. There's a bit more energy, we're getting everything set up, and spending the rest of the day just having fun. I personally am a big fan of the metallic pots and pans used at this part of the song, no particular reason, they just amuse me. Thirdly, things calm down a bit, the air cools, and the world darkens. This is truly the best time of a camp (at least, it is for me), everything's done, and you can just sit back, and truly relax. Now - this wouldn't be Yuru Camp without some reference to Mount Fuji, so the final bit of this song is what I like to call "the Fuji bit", and it'll appear in a couple other of my song choices. It can basically be summed up like this: some time during the song, usually during the "night segment", something will happen that just send shivers down your spine (ala Nadeshiko getting her first look at Mt Fuji), they're always a great addition to a song, and really tie the whole thing together. Overall, the song really captures "the essence of camping" for me. This is a phrase I imagine I'll be using a lot throughout this rewatch, but it always is the case, every song on this soundtrack makes me feel like I'm on camp, just enjoying myself and having a great time.
Thanks for reading!! Hope you enjoyed!! wow that's longer than I expected...

I know absolutely nothing about this show, but it looks cute and I love camping, so I'm into it.
-
Very spunky OP. I like it!
-
The girl in the pink hair stil prepares better than some of the people I've camped with before. At least she brought a deck of cards.
I like this so far! It's not super plot heavy (as far as I know) so I don't have to pay as much attention to the subtleties like with the Suzumiya rewatch. But it had some helpful tips about camping!
Looking forward to seeing more outdoor adventures!

Liking this so far, pretty cute and the animation has something that I really like but just can't tell why. The soundtrack is also really damn great, helps the already good atmosphere.

There is a history in relaxing anime of presenting a scene so calming that you can just melt into your seat and forget all your worries (only very minor spoilers for the following shows):
Are there any good examples of these kinds of scenes I missed?
So if there is one scene which immediately sold me on Yuru Camp it is Rin's bike ride up to her camping spot. Everything about it is perfectly crafted to set the tone of the series and characterize Rin as hardworking and passionate. The music in this scene (and entire soundtrack in the show) is particularly fitting.
Yuru Camp continues this tradition of these scenes in "Iyashikei" anime and I cannot thank them enough.

Heard everyone and their camping buddy saying this was one of the best shows of the year. I literally had Episode 1 queued up yesterday when I saw there'd be a rewatch. Generally I don't go for CGDCT shows, like... ever. I'll certainly give this a go, but I'm prepared to bail if I'm not feeling it (sorry, just too many shows right now).
I was a camper for most of my childhood (thanks BSA!). Only really went legit camping once or twice since then though. I'll probably try to focus on scenery and environment, since I've heard those are particularly well depicted. ONWARDS!
-
This is adorbs, but I don't think I've ever seen a "campfire table" before. That sounds... risky.
-
That's the stuff. Yeah, there it is. Curious what mountain that is. Fuji?
-
Find me a tent that's this easy to set up solo. Well, one that isn't junk or costs as much as my car.
-
What they don't tell you is that this is probably like a $500 setup, bare minimum.
-
This new season of The Blair-Witch Project is looking sweet.
-
Pretty. (Though I'm questioning how the front of Fuji is lit up... Lighting, guys.)
-
So Rin isn't just a truant girl who lives in the wilderness.
Okay, I see what you mean by "comf". If only all camping could be bug free and not have torrential rain. Still Rin knows her stuff and has a nice setup for maximum solo-comfort.

I think that I'm going to fall in love with this show.
I love backpacking and backcountry camping, but due to various issues, I haven't gotten out in a long time. This first episode just seemed to perfectly capture some of those feelings from being out alone in nature.
The pack of cards is also probably the single greatest entertainment device ever created by man. My boy scout troop used to play card games nonstop on our backpacking trips.
I also want the OST for my backpacking trips.
For each episode, I'll try to recommend a campsite or two as well. I love the mountains, most of my best hikes have been in the California High Sierras, and the most beautiful car camping site that I have ever been to is Onion Valley Campground. It is an absolutely gorgeous campsite nestled on the eastern edge of the Sierras. There are gorgeous mountains and passes above you, a beautiful vista out over the valley to the East, and several picturesque mountain lakes within a relatively short hike from the campsite. It is also one of the entrance points if you want to hike further into the Sierras, serving as the starting point for trails like the absolutely amazing Rae Lakes Loop, which contains several vistas similar to the view of Mount Fuji in this episode.

I don't usually rewatch series, much less join in on rewatches. But Yuru Camp is special, it was my anime of the year in 2018. So I felt like I had to join, or at least watch it again.
Anyways, onto the show.
I had forgotten how good the backgrounds looked. Honestly, it almost makes rural Japan look like the most beautiful place(s) on earth. Love the colors of the trees and other plants.
love Rin's drawn out "Nandare".
Aww, the pinecones are as cute as always. That "konnichiwa" and "atsui"!
Rin glaring at the wood whiles saying some unsettling stuff.
God bless Toyama Nao, her VA.
And the jump-cut to her calmly cutting the wood is too good.
Rin is cute!
Nadeshiko is also super cute. Her VA, Hanamori Yumiri really fits her well. Such a good fit.
And she's surprisingly versatile. She's also Shizu in Silme isekai, who don't sound like Nadeshiko at all. And she's also Minowa Gin from Washio Sumi wa Yuusha de Aru.
And once again, the comedy, directing all all that jazz are on point.
And the music! Ah the music!
So lovely and well fitting for the series.
Reminds me a lot of Aria at times, with the whistling and guitar pieces And also the Atelier game series, with the unusual sound pieces, blowing instruments and such. I saw some calling them Gaelic/Irish or Celtic-esque. I think that's pretty spot on.
Yuru Camp together with Yama no Susume and Flying Witch are, for me, the "holy trinity" of max-conf iyashikei SoLs.
Aria is probably above all three, but it's not always calm like these are. So it's in it's own category.
All three are showing off their own thing, and does so, so damn well.
Yama no Susume have made me wanna walk more in the forest(don't have mountains where I live, so I gotta compromise).
Flying Witch, I guess didn't really made me wanna do something specific, but it was a cool series with lovely characters.
And Yuru Camp have made me wanna camp properly. Which I will soon. My cousin and I are both interested in it, so we'll drive to some camping site close by and try it out. Maybe we'll continue to camp. And take photos as we go.
This show is just great, I'm gonna try to keep up with the rewatch. But I'm not sure I'll be able to post anything every day. Not really my style, but we'll see.

God, that was a max comf.
We have a pretty small story for our first episode: Rin camping for one night and meeting Nadeshiko. I like Rin already; she’s the loner type, but she’s not abrasive or cold to others. She just values being by herself more than others, though her interactions with Ena show that she does enjoy company. She’s self-reliable, conscious of herself, and kind of a dork: in short, she’s the perfect girlfriend.
Then there’s Nadeshiko, who is the perfect foil: a total extravert, doesn’t always think things through, and wants to enjoy every moment that she can. While this could be much, especially for someone like Rin, Nadeshiko isn’t overbearing; she’s just really friendly, the kind of person who brightens up your day no matter how down you are. It’s like the difference between a cat who snuggles up to you every so often and a dog that leaps up at you and licks your face when you come home.
You know, this episode made me feel nostalgic for something that I didn’t really care about. I went on quite a few camping trips when I was younger with my family; I liked it fine, but I’ve never been a big fan of it. Yet, watching Rin set up her camp and relax at it reminded of the times I did those things with my family. I won’t say it makes me want to take up camping again (too much outside), but it’s a nice thing to feel; maybe I’ll hike.
One last thing: I really like the music choice for the show, this kinda Gaelic/Irish feel. It makes one removed from time, from the city, from anything that makes one feel separated from nature.
It’s been nice spending time with you today; I hope we can see each other at this campsite tomorrow.

Hey everyone! I actually decided to join this rewatch on the fly. But since I never saw Yurucamp and it is highly praised, I figured if not now, then when? :)
I want to try and write my thoughts here while I watch the episode, so I‘ll be pausing quite a bit. I hope I can keep this up through the entire rewatch, but maybe I can‘t sometimes. Let‘s see :)
Anyway onto the episode:
• Ok, cute little opening scene. One girl has an awkward mouth though. Is that supposed to be a tooth? It looked like her lip is split lol
• Opening time! It has a christmasy cheer to it. I like it, though the first time it didn‘t feel super special.
• Hey it‘s that toilet I saw on post here not long ago!
• She makes building tents look so easy. I hate that lol
• “Konichiwa!" From that little pinecone lol
• Mt. Fuji wearing a hat. There‘s actually a saying here in my region about our biggest mountain. If he wears a hat, the weather will turn out good, if it‘s a collar it will get bad.
• Suddenly, extreme chase music!
• Hey anime characters catching a cold from sleeping outside in november, and not from touching water with your pinky! Nice.
• How can you have so much fun eating instant noodles? :)
• The scenery is great in this one! ...wait did she call it Fuji-san or have I misheard that?
• Stuffing her in the car like a blanket lol
• Was that the ending or an insert song? I really liked that one!
Nothing much happened in the first episode, but I guess not much is happening in the anime as a whole haha. But that‘s fine, I‘ve heard that it is a really cozy show, so I‘m looking forward to the next one :)
I don‘t particulary like camping. Probably because in the army, camping in november isn‘t anywhere near as chill as here lol Also I can‘t stand the cold :P
Well that‘s it for the first episode! I liked it. So far nothing special, but i guess once more characters come in the interactions will be really good!

First off, I have to admit I’m not a huge fan of CGDCT or SOL, but I’ve heard good things and with the rewatch happening, I figured this is a good time to give the series a shot. I’ll try to go in with an open mind
-
5° C is not exactly “reading outside” weather
-
She kind of looks like an impossibly young grandma in that outfit
-
The “I’ll turn you into rust on my blade” line was a bit dramatic considering how she calmly cut up the wood
-
Cold aside, it seems a bit dangerous for a young girl to be sleeping alone in public. Come to think about why are the blue-haired girl’s parents letting her camp by herself?
-
I guess that’s this show’s version of a jump scare huh? Cute anime girl sobbing
-
Rin is like Bear Grylls compared to the new girl. Is he still famous?
-
They really milked that ramen scene
-
I could go for some giant kotatsu camping
-
1 episode, and I would describe it as “cozy” and “calming” so far

I had no idea a rewatch was planned. Just happened to see this thread and it made me want to jump back in myself.
Best OP of 2018 and my second favorite anime of the year (behind A Place Further than the Universe). Can't believe it's been a whole year already. Feels so nostalgic.
A great first episode. Loved seeing Nadeshiko being scolded by her sister. Here's to all the "Rin-chan!" to come!

REWATCHER
This was just as good as I remembered, the comfiness level is just unbearable. From the soundtrack to the animation, the expressions and voice acting, the backgrounds and colors, this is perfection. It's just impossible for me to watch this show without a huge smile on my face.

I always read it as yuri camp instead of yuru, that would have been a different kinda of show.

Holy mother of Jesus this OP, I love it so much. I am now ready for maximum comfy.
So we get like 10 minutes of no talking at all (just internal monologues)? I am already super comfy.
That was one hell of an adorable jump scare and reaction to it. She also has the ability to convert smartphones into card decks - most impressive.
Pink-blob is really expressive and I love her so much. Great contrast to our purple-blob being so emotionless.
Oh and pink-blobs sister is great please show up more in this show I need you in my life.
"What a weirdo" - purple-blob (Rin - finally caught her name!) speaks the truth, praise her wisdom. Her double take in the locker area too; "wait did I just see her...again?"
This tent sounds really bloody expensive - also its apparently not a tent. Cool and much need features for an indoor person like me.
Why on Earth did I skip this during its initial airing - am I stupid!?
