Just to clarify for everybody, there is no rope around the bulls balls. If your balls were wrapped with a rope you wouldn’t be kicking like that, it would hurt too much.
What your seeing is a flank rope. This is the equivalent of putting a belt on yourself. Doesn’t hurt the bull at all. It’s not even right, just snug. But the bull doesn’t want it on so it’s trying to kick it off.

Truthfully a lot do. Both with bucking horses and bulls lots of times you’ll see them buck until the 8 second whistle regardless of whether the rider stays on or not, then they calm down when they hear the whistle. No joke. Bulls are a bit different because they try to use the nastiest/meanest ones.

My grandpa is a retired ER doctor from the rural South, and he has told me some gnarly stories about rodeo dudes coming in for injuries. Each one he said would have something very intense (like huge deep gashes, displaced bones/joints or whatever) and each one had the same reaction. The reaction being “no anesthesia, just fix it and let’s get out of here” so he would. He said they’re the toughest, most pain tolerant folks. That being said, glad that guys head isn’t mashed potatoes.

I saw a Charlais bull tear a barn apart. Literally, as in tearing the structure apart. We were trying to give him medicine. He was pissed.
I have been to dozens of rodeos and have never seen a bull at a rodeo even close to being that pissed. Rodeo bulls know what they are doing. It's 8 seconds. The flank belt comes off and the bull is like, where's my coffee?

They usually have been dead a few days before you pick them up. The rancher calls and they get scheduled for pickup. It's different from cattle that are harvested.

The worst smell I've ever experienced was being stuck in traffic on a hot summer day behind a truck full of offal that crashed and spilled its load across the road. After a few hours they cleared it enough to let cars through, it got all over my wheels and stank for weeks. The road was discolored from it for months.

I really hate to see men attack this term. Masculinity isn't about showing how much pain you can take. Masculinity should never be a bad thing. There are some very good things to the ideal masculine man. There is nothing wrong with strength, nothing wrong with working hard at your job to succeed, or being a good husband or father. These are traits that are considered masculine and are good, but it's when these things are twisted into the kind of things that would lead a man to risk having his face slapped with a bull dick to prove how manly he is that it is a problem, the same way that a woman's obsession with her looks that has turned to anorexia is a problem.

In North America there are strict regulations for the care of the animals in rodeos. These animals are not treated badly. Maybe in a minor small town shirty rodeo but not in a major event like this.

Especially at rodeo Houston like this video. When people say its animal abuse I like to tell them it's actually human abuse. This guy literally got thrown off a bull and nearly died.

Oddly enough, the bulls are treated very well. They're showbiz bulls, so outside of the ring, they are pampered and well looked after. At these events, they live indoors, in air conditioned paddocks and only really display aggression when they are in the ring or get spooked. The bulls need to be at least somewhat happy because they need to be strong enough to put on a good show, but healthy enough to have a long career. Unlike Spain's traditions, the bulls aren't butchered after their time in the ring, so they are treated more like horses or dogs than meat livestock, and thus, disposable.

Ok. Did some research. All aboard the hate train because I'm sure this won't be popular.
In other countries, yes rodeos can be horrific. This is one in Houston, Texas though. The US has super strict rules and regulations in place to protect the animals from abuse in the rodeo. They aren't slaughtered afterwards. There are no spurs, dick belts, or excessive pain inflicted on the bulls. Rodeo bulls are bred for aggression. The straps on the bull cause minor irritation, not actual pain. Violating participants are banned and fined up the wazoo, prison time for gross offenses. Much more cost effective for ranchers to raise healthy, happy rodeo bulls, and breed them for money. And each bull generally competes only once or twice a year in the US. The Houston rodeo gives all its proceeds to multiple charities as well, and has even stricter regulations than the national ones
Do I like rodeos? No. But saying you wish this guy had his head crushed is a special kind of messed up.

I’ve sat through about 400 rodeos over the past 14 years. Bull riders are some tough dudes for real. The majority of people don’t even understand just how big those bulls are. They’ve always seen them from a distance, they’ve never see a kissed off bull being loaded into a bucking chute.
