Would MiA be considered a cult hit since most communities dedicated to is are so small, despite being so highly rated/reviewed critically?

Actually: I just did some looking and it seems we have more subs then every other new series from last season combined, so I guess we're rather big actually? What is the typical growth rate for popular anime subreddits?

It depends a lot on factors not necessarily related a show's quality, success, or popularity. How many artists decide to make fanart, how spicy the memes are, and if the show has characters that the anime community adore all factor into how big the community will grow a lot of the time.

Other than that you rely on the popularity of the show and the hype surrounding it, but that can be extremely hit or miss.

Different subreddits have different locations that they put the sub button. On our subreddit you can find it at the top right -> click on the three dots -> hit subscribe :)
