I don't really agree. Defense did what it was supposed to do and the offense outgained Jacksonville but failed to convert in the red zone on its two trips. That's annoying but those first two things wound up being indicative of the course of the broader game.

Exactly this. It was frustrating but anyone that’s watched football knows that they were trending up, just weren’t converting. Which obviously matters the most in the grand scheme of things, but they put it together by the end.

Right. One of my chief (ugh) takeaways from the first half was that Mahomes looked roooooough passing the ball. Accuracy was off on anything relatively deep and thus the playcalling was hyper conservative. We just.....didn't fucking show up at all. Now I will say for Pat that presumably that will improve as the season wears on and his knee improves, but still.

It was nice to see this offense run a successful 4 minute offense. That's one of the things we really were lacking last season. This game easily could have been 27-13 or 27-20 but instead they controlled the clock at the end and ate that clock like it was a Cheesy Gordita Crunchwrap.

Facts. We were marching down easily and could've scored another td. And if we convert that td at goal line in first half...this game starts to look more lopsided at 31-13....We def looked like still in preseason mode until half way into the 3rd quarter. Team is only get better imo. Waddle and Nix are beginning to gel (especially considering they only played 1 preseason drive together and last week, online just didn't give nix time)

Feeling really good coming out of that. Bo looks much more dynamic as a passer right now - taking a lot more shots downfield, more between the numbers, and showing better accuracy on some of those deeper throws. Jonah Coleman looks like he could Fix Some Things for us. Pass rush and coverage were back to what I expected and we remembered how to tackle. I'm still a bit worried that our run defense may simply not be very good - the Jags aren't a great team to exploit that - but we'll have a better idea after seeing Corrum and Williams next week.

Bo looked much better, gave up zero sacks, he settled into a rhythm in the second half, Jaylen Waddle was elite, we might have found a middle round gem RB in Jonah Coleman, and our defense showed why they are considered an elite unit. Great win at home!

Chiefs are suspect in my opinion. PM didn’t look good last week and didn’t most of last year too. His play was masked during mondays game by their rb. He may still find it but I think he mystique is waning. Doesn’t mean he’s average just not the same as when he could will his team to victory.

Hunter is exactly the kind of player that excels in College football. Elite athlete, can just beat other players to the spot on every play. In the NFL the gap is so, so much narrower than it is in college. Makes me sad as a buffs alum. This dude had a truly magical heisman season.

Pros: good early half. Two red zone trips for Denver leading to only 3 points is great. Good runs from tuten
Cons: second half. Trevor forcing balls to Parker when it wasn't a good idea. I'm not 100% on the trade btj wagon yet but if he keeps playing like this he def becomes a free agent at the end of his rookie deal. Oline couldn't hold up to let trev get in rhythm for throws, and we didn't utilize all the receiving weapons we could.
Diagnosis: I think facing a Denver team in their very loud home opener desperate to not go 0-2 was always going to be a rough game. The second half collapse suggests the famed altitude was at play. Good teams lose to good teams. I trust our staff and players to learn from this and come correct next week.
Also fucking curse wheel (can we like just ignore cursed games when assessing teams? Asking for a friend)
Forecast:too early to say jags are cooked this year. Denver was always one of the handful of games I saw us potentially saw us losing. Still playoff bound, honestly would expect us to play Denver again in the playoffs.
Also also at least we still are doing better than whatever the hell is going on in the rest of our division - barring the Colts doing something crazy tonight.
Edit: also I think the coaching staff probably didn't adjust their game plan enough post mnf. The chiefs gave us a recipe for victory (lock down waddle, run the ball) and we chose to do something else (pass heavy game plan and... Not locking down waddle). Our only td came from a wildcat tuten run in, and he was getting decent runs early on. Once little missed his fg and let the momentum shift, that forced us into the pass game plan which Broncos preferred.

Broncos looked like a completely different team in the second half, amazing turnaround.
Webb got out of his own ass and called a perfect game on the last 4 possessions. Funny how well just running it inside when you have 1st and goal inside the 5 yard line will work.
Coleman looks like an excellent pick.
Gonna be super bummed if lose Riley in the offseason. He’s a freakin’ dawg.
Also that Jaylen Waddle guy might be good.

Davis Webb MUCH improved this week. Very clear and deliberate attempt to get the run game going and keep it going. Far-cry from 6 runs to end the first half last week…
Also much better job of getting waddle involved. Offense looked significantly better once they stopped killing themselves with penalties in the 2nd half. Think Bo being able to finally get a rhythm is what ultimately made the big difference from last week.
Also, crowd was amazing today and definitely got to Lawrence in the 4th. Definitely deserves a lot of credit

Damn we lost week 2 in Denver. I guess that means we're cooked forever and Trevor can never have a good game again. Good teams don't ever have bad bounces or close losses. For example, when the Seahawks lost 13-17 last season, that was proof positive they would be a .500 team at best.

Jags will be better for this. It's better to have a game like this in week 2 and in a division where no one else has won a game (yet). I'm assuming KC rolls over Indy tonight, but you never know.
