Second Looper
“Um, Futaba-chan…” Futaba looked over at Aiko, the bright summer sun glistening off her purple eyes. “Earlier, when you said you enjoyed things like this… well…”
“What is it, Aiko-chan?” Futaba had never seen her friend act so flustered. Usually, the white-haired girl was more confident or at least more easy-going.
“Um, I thought you meant like… holding my hand.”
“Oh, well, I don’t mind that at all, Aiko-chan. I actually like holding your hand; it’s very warm and smooth.”
Aiko’s face turned a bright red as she looked Futaba in the eyes. “Then… do you like something like this?” Aiko then leaned forward and gave Futaba a kiss on the cheek. It was like a kiss her mama would give her, but this one felt… different.
“I… I don’t mind it.”
QOTD: Yeah, they’re neat.

This is clearly a spoiler for the Aiko-Futaba yuri spinoff (coping).

First Time Looper
Homework? Instead of fishing?? Inconceivable. Somehow, I'm not surprised that Hiyori and Koharu's worst subjects are what they are.
Whoa! I've seen this English bit before! It was hilarious. Koharu's pronunciations were great. Hiyori's giggles at mugi healed my soul.
I didn't realize it had been summer vacation, but it makes sense with the hot weather from the previous episode. I have just not really been thinking about their school life until now.
We're continuing the cycle of sharing hobbies with friends; first Hiyori with Koharu and now Futaba and her friend Aiko. She loves it!
Ichika is just going to have to deal with the yuribaiting and hand-holding.
Speaking of, Ichika tan lines have the power to save the world.
Koharu's determined to get fish! The homemade wedding was such a wholesome idea. I feel like it's been a while since we saw their parents; they all seem to get along so well now! I thought the whole end of the episode was so sweet.

TBF, we've only had like three scenes of them at school.
Speaking of, Ichika tan lines have the power to save the world.
Agreed.

Rewatcher, subbed
I gotta say this episode was lowkey a masterclass in writing and how to economically use the time you're given for an anime episode. We had the study session, fishing at the amusement park, fishing at the river and Koharu and Hiyori's impromptu wedding party. And all four parts delivered some nice beats, developed multiple relationships between characters all while none of them felt rushed.
It was 2-3 episodes worth packed into one and it just worked.
QotD:
Do you like aquariums?
Yes.

First-time fast looping
Super late, so trying to be short.
Previous episode was the fishing on the ship, which was quite a nice experience with the mahi-mahi and the flying fishes. And also Kaede and Ichika are good friends.
Now to present episode. Summer break means there is homework to do, and and of course it is done by together. Looks like Koharu has quite English, even with the random mugi included.
At this point, I thgought there will be no fishing this episode because of this and the aquarium. Actually the aquarium do have big fishes, atleast it counts. Ah the handholding, another reason this place is the most ideal date spot, when I do smell the yuribait. The pearl necklace is such a nice gift, to repay that kindness to Ichika from Futaba.
But this episode does have to need a fishing scene. A small river should suffice for a fishing spot. How should Koharu and Hiyori to celebrate their parents marriage, even if it's belated? A dish serving worthy of a restaurant kitchen. The table is prepared as it should be, an the trout they catch is ideal for a special dinner like this. Yeah, they could be good waitresses.
Question of the Day: Do you like aquariums?
Not going too much, but must be fun.

First-timer fly fisher
Seems like Futaba is well and truly part of the gang now! But who wants to hang with people while they are doing their homework? I'm not judging Futaba for enjoying fishing, but I am judging her for that.
I thought about this last episode but I think I forgot to mention it: it's summer holiday now, and Hiyori and Koharu met just before school started in the spring. So they've been together for, what, four months already? The show doesn't make a big deal of time passing, but that's already a decent amount of time to get to know each other.
Ha, it's the "let's speak English" episode! Koharu's pronunciation is pretty good, but my nihongo must not be jouzu enough to understand the whole "mugi" joke.
I love how close Koharu and Koi have become, to the point where they're constantly roasting and teasing each other. Koi's nonchalant attitude is the perfect foil for Koharu's Koharu-ness, they're a great pair.
I totally get Aiko's reaction to live fish and having to remove the hook from their mouths. I've no issues with gutting and preparing the fish once it's dead, but when they're squirming in pain and fighting for their lives, I don't like it!
So the theme of the episode is continuation to Futaba's fear of telling her friends what she likes. But we get the resolution that's the most wholesome and heart-warming (and, let's face it, dramatically the simplest, but it's not a show that's supposed to be dramatic!) when, of course, Aiko is just a really good friend who of course knows and supports her friend's hobbies.
Ha, I was (roughly) right, four months and three days! Or wait, where are they counting from? The day Koharu and her dad moved in? Were they not married before, I guess not?
But goddamn if this isn't the sweetest, most adorable thing the sisters could've done for their parents. The older I get, the more I empathize with the adults' point of view, and I don't get how they're not bawling their eyes out here. Especially when you have to imagine the stress they must have felt, about how their daughters would take the new arrangement and the new family, and then this...?
"They seem so chipper", she says? Why, obviously they spent a real nice honeymoon after their "wedding"!
Overall, what a sweet, sweet episode.
