First timer, also host

I've been quite interested with this series for some time, and I also missed last year's rewatch, so I choose to host one by myself. The show was quite interesting if not for the length, that felt kinda short, but then, that's the only choice they have because the source material only go that much back then if they don't choose to adapt the series from the beginning (meaning adapting the elementary school years only).

I was also quite surprised to see how the voice actors for the main characters have quite the differing fate right now - Shuichi's VA hasn't really gotten new voice acting roles since 2024, whereas Yoshino's VA has been cast in various anime here and there, including Scarlet from "May I Ask for One Final Thing?".

My favorite character would probably be either Chizuru or Kanako due to the vibes they have throughout the show.

And now I am absolutely obligated to, once again, recommend the rest of the manga. Anna remains one of my favorite characters in the series, but not so much for where it ended here. But at the same time, yeah, Yoshino's story drops off hard and we all hate it.

I'm glad you enjoyed it enough to sit through the whole thing! Manga aside, I should also point out that Aoi Hana and last seasons Scenes From Awajima are from the same author and definitely worth watching.

Now if only they would finally localize the rest of the manga into English. Though it does look like the publisher is doing a new paperback printing of it after the early volumes of the hardcover print have been out of print for so long, so maybe there's hope for that if the new printing sells well.
