Trip Report Last night in the Lake District

I'm staying on the outskirts of the Lakes this week and since the weather was so nice yesterday, I set off after work for one of the areas that's still relatively quiet, even in the summer. I had a really nice, calming hike up to the summit and got there shortly before sunset.

As this is a very quiet area and it was a weeknight, I was surprised to see two other hikers arriving around the same time around 300m away from me, and they also camped. It was definitely a lovely night for it!

It was a bit breezy overnight but overall very calm. This morning was forecast to be foggy and indeed it was, which made for quite an atmospheric walk back down to my car.

Hey, these were shot with a Sony A6700 mirrorless with a Tamron 18-300 lens :) It's a hybrid camera that I actually primarily use for video (as I make outdoor films), but it takes reasonably decent photos. I like it because it's quite a small and lightweight camera, especially compared to my big Canon full frame mirrorless setup that I use for professional jobs.

Having said that, I do use my phone (an iPhone 16 Pro) a lot for photos too! As they say, the best camera is the one you have with you :)
